Zen gets the chance to live his Cinderella dream, Yoosung just realized he needs to watch his step, Jumin isn't having a good time cleaning the floor since he just realized how long it takes, Jaehee is having the time of her life styling out MC's hair, Jihyun is unbothered and content doing laundry for MC, Saeyoung is absolutely thriving in sheer gender euphoria, and Saeran seems so happy to tend to the daily chores to make the space clean and tidy for MC!

Hello folks, and happy one year anniversary of Pale Court!

We're incredibly happy with how well received the mod was. We even got fans wanting to contribute to the translations! We went from the initial English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French to also include Russian and Japanese— and heads up! Chinese and Korean translations are also in the making, and should be added on the next update.

Unfortunately, the year didn't go by completely devoid of issues; due to personal actions by Gauthier (Pharloom's musician), we have decided to remove the tracks he contributed to the mod, which will be replaced by new ones in the next patch.

Now, we'd like to give a shout-out to a few creatives that did pretty cool things about the mod, starting with vegathron and his deep dive into the inner workings of the mod's charms

I love giving advice, apparently, so if you are a newly pierced person or are planning on being pierced, here are some of the things I found helpful, as somebody who isn't a professional piercer but has had six plus piercings on my face and body, and multiple ear piercings (which I don't count, since I DIY'd them):

Normal bath towels are your enemy, proceed with caution after bathing. NEVER wipe moisture away from a fresh piercing, always pat it dry

You will hit a new piercing and it will hurt. This is inevitable, just know that you likely haven't destroyed it. Feel free to cry, though, it hurts like hell.

If your piercer gives you instructions, heed them. If you're on restrictions, please take it as seriously as possible

When you're going in for a piercing, please eat or drink something - at least what constitutes as a snack for your body. It really helps

If you're getting an oral piercing, make sure you size down after the healing period - I hadn't sized down for my last oral piercing when I first had the chance, and it was... so annoying to have too-large of jewelry

Not all jewelry is made equally. Do your research on materials, threading, and sizing. I've found that titanium jewelry is really nice for me, and I like it, but that isn't the only option. Make sure you think about your body and its needs and preferences

Close your eyes while being pierced (I found this really helps me)

Don't over-clean a new piercing, twice per day is usually a good place to start

The completed healing period is a very average suggestion - you may heal slower or faster. Try to adhere to that suggestion, though, especially if you do not feel you're healed enough

Personally, I have found that I am completely healed when my piercing feels like just another part of my body, even when it is touched. When my piercings start to feel as though they are foreign when they never do before, I know I likely need to clean them

While I have DIY'd piercings, I personally do not recommend it, especially if you are either not using sterilized equipment, or are piercing a very dangerous place (like the tongue). If you are absolutely positive about committing to the DIY mindset, please try to do due diligence in research at least

Tip your piercer. Body mods are a luxury service, and it takes years to even become a piercer, much less to be proficient at it. Tip your piercer, ESPECIALLY if their prices feel too good to be true - they likely are. Unless you are directed otherwise by your piercer, just assume that you will be tipping them for their services and budget accordingly

Make sure you understand how your piercer wants you to take care of your piercing, and ask questions. There is no question too "dumb"

If you are getting a body part pierced you are insecure about, realize your piercer has most likely seen HUNDREDS of different body parts of various sizes, shapes, and oddities. Your body is not uniquely bad, nor would a good piercer make you feel unwelcome or uncomfortable with your body. If they do, however, DO NOT go through with the piercing. You should feel safe being pierced by somebody, and, indeed, that is the bare minimum.

If you use saline wash to clean piercings, you can DIY it. You will go through NeilMed like no other, and with it being $5USD a bottle, that price can rack up quickly. Make sure you use distilled water and non-iodized salt, though

If your piercing is infected, please don't be too ashamed to seek help. It's in your best interest to make sure you don't get ill or your site gets nasty ("nasty" as in painful)

These are just some of the things I've learned being a pierced person! My piercings are something I absolutely needed, and I do not for a minute regret having them. I want that same happiness to befall you, and that happens when you are able to understand a bit more what goes into piercings. You are, essentially, getting a new body part installed by a pro, and so I don't want you to not be ready for that.

Again, I am not a professional piercer, but am rather a body piercing enthusiast with many different types of piercings. I don't have every piercing, though, so please look at this critically for the piercing(s) that you want or have. At least, treat this like a soft suggestion or ways to help you brainstorm what you will find helpful.

More tips are obviously welcomed, especially if you yourself have more insight or expertise. Good luck to every pierced person or future pierced person reading this💛

Crowns and Bishops Behind the Scenes (part 1)

In today's extra long post, for the anniversary of Crowns and Bishops I will be giving you guys a peak behind the process of creating a comic for the Blog, in this case, Vine's Lore post! The Final one of the main set! For extra long asks like this I always start out by typing up a script, laying out exactly what I might want to say in response to the question at hand! Here's the full typed script for Vine's lore post [it ended up SUPER long, I think because I've had the most time to think about Vine's character and what I wanted for him haha!]

From there I start on the first panel, and as anyone who has seen my wips or just knows how I drew things, every Jir character starts their life as a circle!

I reuse some assets mostly for backgrounds to make the process go easier, such as these pillars and skulls in Narinder's realm!

Because mspaint doesnt have layers, different coloured outlines are used to create what is essentially different layers so that adjustment to one section doesn't affect another!

I kept this one mostly the same but adjusted the legs because it wasn't looking quite right!

for details like the shawl stripes I overlap the lines like this and then paste over it with the red being transparent, so only the details on the red remain!

When I'm happy with the main image I then add the text from the script!

It usually takes 4-5 iterations before I'm happy with placement, clarity and spacing! I also often have to account for the colours i use to make them the most readable against the background of each panel!

I look up reference images for this, like the standard way that a cloak like this one would be held together!

And since the Lands of the Old Faith is a closed-off continent in the preindustrial era any background will be confined to one of the five Bishop's lands! For this one I've chosen a forest like the one in this trailer for the game, but with an adjusted colour pallet!

I decided for the next panel, since Vine's mother's characterization was kind of a messed up allusion to the virgin Mary, that I should reference a biblical painting related to it and found this one

Though the cosmology and relations are different, the Seller was the obvious stand in for the Angel Gabriel in the picture!

Some panels start with the background, others with the character depending on what makes the most sense! Here I have a bit of both worked on but I'm focusing on drawing Vine!

For the ritual sacrifice Vine and his mother created a fake traitor's razor as the ceremonial dagger, and a clasp reminiscent of Gaap's, Narinder's most favoured vessel up to this point, as well as utilizing ceremonial paint and other decorations and representations related to Narinder!

When drawing imprisoned Narinder the hardest part tends to be fitting the veil properly above his opened third eye!

For the next panel, I show the intersection between the three vessels, as though Vine would've been born while Nelly was Narinder's vessel, Acedia does come before him in the order, so I had to square away how that would work!

When I initially decided on the order for Narinder's vessels I hadn't decided on the broad strokes of who they were and how they would've been chosen, so Acedia being before Vine but only for a single year between Nelly and Vine ends up quite silly!

If there's no real room like here, I'll sometimes extend the canvas to add black bars to add the text in.

I asked my chat for a follower form and was suggested Wolf, so the follower Vine is charming here was made a wolf!

I use this wall asset for the cult grounds in the background!

And I have various colour references for other things like Camellias and the outfits for non-cult affiliated denizens of the Lands!

ZEN Hates being away from you, your his love, his life - you gave him a reason to keep going when he could have easily quit because of echo girl. He hated leaving you alone, even more so if you show reluctance and fear from everything with unknown, however, he had just signed a new deal and the agency wanted him to travel with the rest of the cast around Korea. 

At first he turned it down, it was months away at a time and he couldn’t just up and leave you like that! It wasn’t until you managed to talk to him he agreed too, but after the first show he knew this wasn't for him. The hotels were cold without you by his side, and not being able to return to your arms after each show was close to torture! The moment his plane landed back he all but rushed back to the house you both shared.

You had missed him too, of course you did, but you didn’t tell him that. Every little noise made you jump, you rarely left the home without a friend - your eyes searched every part of the street for the man from the apartment. Luciel had told you he was no longer a risk but that didn’t stop your worry. The date of your silly man's return was circled on the calendar and that day you had spent it all pacing the apartment - you had wanted to pick him up but the car had broken, typical! 

The moment you heard a key in the door you jumped up, you expected Hyun but that didn’t stop you having your defences up just in case, you couldn’t be too careful. The moment you saw his hair you knew you needn't have worried - his tired eyes meet yours but the smile that spread across his face as he saw you was enough to distract you from that. He dropped his suitcase and almost ran across the room to you, arms wrapping around you as tight as he could - his lips meeting your forehead as he held you like he had been gone for years, not weeks. You had missed the smell and feel of him, the strange safety that radiated and the way just being near him made your emotions bubble.

He saw the strange look in your eyes and he knew straight away what you had felt the whole time he was away. He took your hand and led you to the sofa, sitting next to you as his fingers gently massaged your shoulders. He hated to know you were so scared alone, he hated to know he could have stopped that but didn’t. He went away, and left you alone! His lips meet your temples as you leant into his embrace.

“I’m so sorry my love.. I won’t leave you again.”

Yoosung: 

You both knew Yoosung would have to travel when it came to uni, his desire and want to become a vet was strong. He wanted to make Rika proud - he wanted to be able to help animals the way he wanted to be able to help Sally. He didn’t count on you entering his life though, full of light and offering your hand without expecting anything in return - this put a halt in his plans. He needed to travel for his studies but he didn’t want to leave you! You gave him a reason to fight, he went half blind for you - it didn’t feel fair that he was to walk away!

You didn’t want him to leave either, but you both had spoken off moving in together eventually and for that he had to get his degree and to get that, he had to travel. You understood that and carefully encouraged him to do it, to travel and see the world - once he got home you could create a home together - one filled with love. With your gentle pushes and promise he left for his trip.

You didn’t expect to feel so lonely with him gone, you didn’t realise how much time you spent with him - walking past Sky Uni caused a pain in your chest. You knew it was necessary but that didn’t stop it hurting. The RFA saw and tried to keep you company, ZEN taking on the big brother role like he had for Yoosung - you suspected your sweet star had asked him to keep an eye on you. On his side things weren’t much better, when he was meant to be studying he felt his eyes going back to the RFA app, trying to see if you're online - wanting to hear your voice. He missed your touch and missed playing games and studying by your side. It was close to hell, he checked in with ZEN everyday to make sure you were okay - but when he said you seemed to really be struggling he knew what he had to do. He spent so much time on his studies that he was allowed to go home early, but he didn’t tell you as much.

The moment he got the news he booked his trip home, he didn’t care that it was going to be past midnight by the time he got home, he didn’t care that it was dangerous to travel that late - he needed to get home and he needed to see you. He opened the door to Rikas apartment, you had given him the code when you started dating with Luciels permission. He expected for you to be asleep, but was surprised to see you stood in the kitchen - a mug of tea in your hands and the same surprised look on your face. You couldn’t comprehend what was going on, you just felt his arms around you, his face in the crook of your neck and the cup of tea pushed to the side.

“I am so sorry.. I will never leave you again! I did it, i passed, our lives will start now!

Jaehee:

Living with you, working along side you and being able to run her own business was more than a dream for Jaehee it was close to a miracle. Everything she had ever dreamt off was in the same 4 walls and everything felt right - she loved you, she loved your work ethic and she loved being able to call you her partner. Life felt light and bubbly by your side, a mirror image of the childhood she wished she had. 

The cafe was a new endeavour for her, she hadn’t expected to ever open one but when she did she used her knowledge from C&R to keep it afloat, but that was limited when it came to running a cafe and you both knew it was important for at least one of you to get more knowledge - you went searching and found a convention outside of seoul that offered advanced knowledge for beginners. It was exactly what you were looking for - but annoyingly only had one space left so Jaehee went alone. 

You both missed each other when she was alway, you spoke as often as possible, albeit you would have preferred to talk more but Jaehee had her head in the books and except for the evenings she was rarely online - what you didn’t know was this was to distract her from how much she was missing you. Use to hard work, it wasn’t hard to throw herself into the books to keep herself busy but man did she miss having you around, cracking jokes or pointing things out to her she didn’t see. You were her soulmate, you made all of this easier, and she hated she had to do this part alone.

On the day she got back you all but rushed to the station to meet her, foot tapping impatiently as she watched train after train come and go - you may have arrived early but who cared? You missed your partner and you would wait for days here if it meant getting to hug her again - the second the train pulled in and you saw her smile you rushed over. Arms flying around her body as she laughed, holding you back just as tightly before you walked off hand in hand. She spoke of the convention, her eyes sparkled as she told you everything she learnt until you made it back to the apartment you lived in.

“I had a good time, but I missed you immensely. Let us use to knowledge i've gathered to make this cafe so good we never have to part again.”

Jumin:

Jumim Han was used to having to travel often - Jaehee watched Elizabeth often and you knew that, however, since your marriage he hadn’t left your side except to go to the office. The penthouse had grown from somewhere he dreaded returning to somewhere he couldn’t wait to go back too. You brought it life, joy, you filled it with laughter and made it feel warm. He pushed back every meeting that meant leaving your side until he couldn’t anymore. 

No matter how often you told him it was okay, to go and you would be fine you saw his reluctance and knew he was pushing it back. It took you putting your foot down and telling him to just go for him to schedule it and even then the night before he left he held you tighter than usual in bed, asking you over and over if you were sure he should go and how he could just cancel it right then and there. You sighed, chuckled and told him you would be fine. 

It wasn’t until he had been away for a few days, you had eaten your meals alone and fallen asleep in the too big bed, did the loneliness hit you, and it hit you hard, you missed having him by your side - reading books out loud or just simply existing in the space next to you. You pushed those worries down everytime you spoke though, trying to keep your voice light and air, however, you were married to Jumin Han, he heard the change in your voice almost instantly and without telling you he booked a flight home - the meeting wasn’t worth more than you and if they were that pressed about doing it face to face they could come to seoul themselves.

A private jet is faster than a commercial, but even so it took too long to get him home - you heard him before you saw him, door banging open against the wall and quick rapid breathing. For a second you jumped - wondering if it was the hacker but your shoulders sagged when you saw it was just your dear sweet husband. You left what you were cooking and ran into his arms, letting the scent of him feel your senses as everything fell back into place. His gentle movements on your back are nearly as grounding as the feel of Elizabeth weaving between both your feet.

“Your back, my hunny” “I'm back my love.. And I will never leave your side again unless it's absolutely necessary.”

Meeting Saeyoung was a whirlwind of emotions, some good, some bad - all of them unexpected. He had never expected someone to walk into his life so randomly and help bring all the pieces back together. You made his story feel complete, the air feel cooler and the fire shine brighter. You brought his brother back to him - something he never expected to happen, and you also showed him who was his true family and who wasn’t.

Since getting Saeran back Saeyoung had mentioned on and off the idea of taking him out, showing him places who could only  have dreamt off - teach him there was a world outside of Seoul. A world outside of cults, drugs, running and fear - he wanted his brother to feel the good life could bring and most of all he wanted to bond with him again. He wanted his brother to smile in his presence - and this was important to him. He was hesitant to go at first, he didn’t want to leave you alone but he also wanted this to be special. He told him to go, repeatedly - that you would be fine and he was worrying about anything. 

When he left though you weren’t prepared for how quiet things would be, living with two other people meant the house would always be loud, would it be from their arguments or just household noises of dropping pans and vacuuming. The quiet was unsettling and multiple times you went to phone Saeyoung and stopped yourself. He was enjoying time with his brother - you would be fine alone. You were an adult and could look after yourself! Saeyoung was feeling the same way, he was loving spending time with Saeran - seeing parts of the young boy he left behind all those years ago but his heart also yearned for you. On the last trip he expressed this and the brothers came home early - closer than ever.

When he finally got back to his home, a place he use to dread, he was quick to pull open the door and pull you into his arms. Your eyes were wide with surprise from them being home so early, but hearing Saeran chuckle you knew the trip had been worth it and they had achieved everything they needed to do.

“I missed you!! Im never leaving you ever again!! I am staying here with you!!”

“Thats..a little dramatic Saeyoung”

Shadow Milk and Burning Spice seem "evil" but I legit believe Mystic Flour only ever wanted the best for people even after they hurt her and let her down again and again. Even the plague brought them peace at the end. Basically she's Depression personified to me and therefore deserving of love and kindness and help. It just feels so wrong to me to paint her as a pure unredeemable bad cookie.
