Hello, sorry for the spelling errors but a suggestion for the misadventures of the MCs

 I don't know if you like malleyuu and if you don't like it, ignore me, but if you do, imagine yuu and malleus having a moment of friendship that seems more like a romantic scene, and the other MCs watching from a distance wondering if they are sure that this is not a game otome

 I really like the idea that Malleus is the only one who didn't realize that this isn't an otome game.

I really like that idea too! However I do prefer to keep the MCs neutral so anyone can project regardless of who their favourite is. I do like MalleYuu (who doesn't love a good dragon romance?-) but since the MCs need to stay neutral think of this as like an alternate AU!

Summary; You and [Character] were friends for such a long time to the point where your friendship started bleeding into something else, something the two of you were scared to ruin, something that could never happen.

You work throughout the park, your eyes only looking around at the children who seem to be joyfully playing, some on the playground equipment while others lay on the floor playing pretend. It was a heartwarming sight to see. Your head turns to look at the path in front of you, before your body pauses. Your body already seemed to know what to do before you could. A familiar face stands right before you, laughing and joking with their friends.

The sight of them hurt your soul. Their smile filled your heart with a fulfilling warmth, yet a sharp sting, the beating in your chest speeding up, yet a painful reminder of your true feelings. Your feelings long for them as much as your heart and soul do, but you made a promise to yourself. You put those feelings away in hopes your relationship never falters nor changes. A gentle wind breezes over you, and the sudden gust causes them to look behind. Your eyes seem to just latch onto each other, never leaving one anothers sight.

You made a promise, to distance yourself. You're the one to break the sudden pull, turning your head away before walking off, their stare lingering on your form as you slowly start to disappear. The sun glared at you excessively, as if judging you. Your mind only wanders back to them, their eyes, their smile, a feeling so genuine you don't know if you could ever get over it. An extensive reminder of how they could never feel the same. As you continue your walk, your steps only feel heavier on the ground.

The last time you had seen each other, it was a quick meet. Your eyes see each other, but never truly connect, an invisible glass preventing the two of you from truly connecting. when you look back at it, you never truly said goodbye. It was the day you finally decided on your promise to be fulfilled, it pained you, and it still does. The two of you were such close friends. But as time went on, it only ended up hurting to just be friends, you wanted something more, something deeper, but no matter how you looked at it, something like that could never happen.

In your mind, all you could do was imagine the two of you in each other's arms, imagining any possible way you could be together, but no matter how you looked at it, there was no solution.

No matter what you did, you could never get over the feeling they gave you. The tingly sensation they caused in your emotions whenever they were near, the remains of the feeling still linger within you. Its hurts to be something with them, it pains you to be only friends, but, its worse being nothing with them.

The sudden void of nothing they left you in your life has caused a tremendous change. The way they completed you could never be recreated nor changed. They brought a light into your soul that was deeply embedded into your body, only for you to rip it out with your bare hands, stained with the ruin of what could've been, but never will be.

You finally entered your home, the hollowness of the house fueling the empty hole left in your core. No matter how decorated the walls seemed to be, or how pretty the furniture and decorum were, your abode still felt dull. Your body fell onto your couch, the cushion rather uncomfortable, your limbs unable to stay in a comfortable position, trying everything but nonetheless, you didn't fit into a place that you're meant to fit into. Your own house, feels like a stranger to you.

You fish out your phone from your bag, mindlessly typing the password in and scrolling through the various apps. You don't know why, but your finger indistinctively clicks on your contacts, the first one to pop up being them. You don't know what you're doing, you really don't, but its too late already, your eyes gloss through the different texts the two of you always sent back and forth to each other. It had already been awhile since the two of you had called.

Their voice was a symphony to your ears, an echo of feeling driving into your ears when they talked. For a brief moment you thought about listening to any voicemails they had left for you at some point, but to no avail, you had already cleared it out. As the day went all you could do was stare at your phone.

Soon enough, your fingers gravitated towards the device as you lay on your couch. You broke your promise. The single light source in your living room lit up right at your face, a reminder as to what you're doing, but even then, you couldn't stop yourself.

You called them, and their number was displayed on the screen as the ring kept ringing throughout your empty living space. Right before you made the choice to call them, someone who looked so similar to them passed your window. The same shade of hair, and style too. Someone just like them.

They only made contact with you for a split moment, before you turned away from their gaze. Your disheveled form wasn't that out of the ordinary to outsiders' perspective, but to them, they could notice the slight wrinkle and heavy eyebags beneath your eyes, the way the lids to your irises falter with each passing second, was nothing like you.

They knew themselves that, the relationship between you too was nothing akin to a regular friendship. The longing gazes between you two on hangouts, even the way your fingers would linger on each other with every touch of your hands. Your smile was purifying to look at, in their eyes they hoped for something more than this, but, in fears of your regular friendship falling part all they could do was refrain, keep the same act up, ignoring the signs of your loving gaze.

Their eyes follow your fading form, the light shining onto the back that was faced towards their direction. Their hands push their own friends away in fear of never catching up to your wiping memory. They're scared of losing you and yet, right as they're at arms-length near you, their feet stop dragging them on. Only standing behind you as you leave the park.

They stood in silence, only watching as your hair is the last piece of you they see. Clinging onto the last appearance they might ever see of you, they turn back around, joining up with their own group, In hopes that they'll be an easy distraction to the even bigger one you've caused in their mind.

As they finish up their get-together, they can only throw their body into their home before they're energy completely depletes, sitting at the empty dining table with nothing on it, only their phone, the notification box still bare with nothing new, but even then, they keep checking, in hopes something from you will come back to them.

Their mind only seems to ache with gruesome pain, placing their head down onto the cold wood as their arms hide them away from reality. Sometimes they wonder to themself if you'll tell them how you really feel, or end it off completely in order to prevent your feeling to implode on you.

They eyes slowly start to doze off before they're phone suddenly goes off, their ringtone filling the eardrums with a sudden sound. They groggily push themself up to grab the phone, their vision slightly blurry, but just barely able to fully process the caller id.

Generally, each will include the reader as the main character using second pov (so you/your) so most should be gender neutral, but with some of the chapters the reader would use specific biology so the chapters where it is relevant I will call it out. If there are any pronouns used, they will be they/them, if I slip up please lmk. Always open to constructive criticism, as the main purpose of this challenge is actually to have me learn to write a variety of different characters + scenarios that are briefer than 10k words per chapter in a shorter period of time.
