there is so. much. content for deancas out there and i have incredibly high standards, several ancient ao3 bookmarks, can speedread, and want to spare you guys the experience of wading through it all.

FUCK its good...au/time travel where dean is not pulled out of hell by cas and says yes to becoming the michael sword. honestly could serve as an alternative to actually watching the show, if you want to get into dean/cas without actually doing that to yourself.

Fata morgana.*  - teen/6k, pst s9 finale. very bela centric and i love it, she finds cas looking for dean in hell.

Redemption Road -misc/600+k. an incredibly long fic from a collaborative writing group back in the day. canon divergent from the end of s6 on, has a cool take on godstiel and the leviathans, as well as the lovecratian mythos connection. ngl when i reread it i only made it about 28% in but imo the casual reader can actually stop around there, the rest concerns a lovecraftian apocalypse that is still good (i think i don’t remember it very well) but not required to enjoy the first half. if you prefer i have an ebook version i can send you on gdrive.

Someone Who's Feeling For Me* - mature/45k, s12. they run into lisa braeden and dean thinks cas is into her while cas thinks dean still likes her. treats lisa way better than the show ever did and the miscommunication is pretty funny rather than annoying.

a turn of the earth - mature/95k. time travel fic where cas from s10 keeps showing up in deans life from a few years before s1 to right before the hellhounds take his soul.  slow burn, good character study, and at one point cas punches the dad in the face and it rules.

On the Wings of War - teen/85k, canon divergent s5. dean accidentally becomes the Horseman of War. plays fun, fast and loose with biblical lore, michael has some rights.

Named - mature/95k, alternate s5. EXTREMELY blasphemous in a fun sexy way. manages to predict metatron almost to a T. there’s one major character death and its literally jesus christ, everyone is very sad about it and it sets the rest of the story rolling. an alternate interpretation of cas’ mission to raise dean from hell which had me on the floor. ngl its kind of misogynistic at points, but its from 2010 and tracks with late oughts-2010 spn (sorry anna the author did you dirty here:/).

The Girlfriend Experience - explicit/15k. uhhh i don’t normally rec or even read smutty stuff unless someone i know is specifically asking for it but this has stuff like sam trying to be a good ally and dean thinking holding hands with cas is ‘kinda gay :/’ minutes after having gay sex with him.

i crippled your heart a hundred times - explicit/19k, s8. cas confesses his feelings and dean spends a long time getting his head out of his ass about it. truly hits different after the actual confession, despite being written six years early it feels like its actually what could have gone down more or less if the writers weren’t talentless demons who hate us.

My Roots Take Flight** - mature/125k. reverse au where cas is a hunter and dean’s an angel...OR IS IT???? an alternate retelling of s4. tw for briefly being set in a psychiatric hospital/the hospital being mentioned somewhat frequently throughout the fic, plus more references to torture in hell and heaven than usual.

The One Thing You Can't Lose* - teen/4k.you know those posts about how cas is a super-strong super-tough ancient warrior but he just lets dean tug him around because he likes it? thats it thats the fic.

Hands, From Which All Things Are Built - teen/14k, post s8′s ‘goodbye stranger.’ cas is on the run with the angel tablet but keeps in touch with sam and dean by text, he and dean still manage to be terrible at Actual communication.

Autrement, Danger - or, The Account of an Exceedingly Long Day - mature/30k, post s11. a monster that takes the appearance of your soulmate leads to some wild miscommunications and dealing with years of repression, also dean gets to see cas’ true form which is always cool. tw for non-graphic mentions of underage sexual assault/sex work.

Down to Agincourt - mature/explicit/900++++k, endverse continuation. endverse!cas survives his encounter with lucifer and discovers another time-displaced dean from s7. i’ve only read the two of four parts but its really good, veeeeery slow burn, has a lot of fun oc’s and takes a rather surprising but (imo) entertaining and intriguing turn into Hellenic history and mythology. usual tw’s for endverse/endverse!cas but nothing graphic, it’s actually pretty light-hearted (relatively speaking of course).

Nothing Equals the Splendor** - explicit/8k, THEE finale fix it fic you’ve been waiting for! posits that the entire final episode was just a (very bad and lame) djinn’s vision.

like moses and batman and james dean - explicit/31k, post s8. explores dean’s trauma and internalized homophoba from his technically canon experience with sex work and its impact on his relationship with cas. the sex work itself isn’t really shown in any detail but it’s still a relatively heavy fic.

Crazy Diamonds - explicit/25k, s4/alternate s14. fresh-out-of-hell dean and dean from 10 years in the future are displaced from time and sent to each other’s present.

where the weeds take root - explicit/30k. au where the men of letters kick them out of the bunker and they accidentally move out into the country, get over their codependence and semi retire. featuring chicken coop building, sam volunteering at a dog shelter, gardening, and blissfully mundane domesticity.

No Resting Place - teen/6k. djinn dream fic, switches back and forth between cas’ dream of being married to dean and retired from hunting to the aftermath when he wakes up. tw for brief mention of suicide since, y’know, djinn dream.

any port in a storm - mature/52k. post s8 finale. cas and dean have to pose as a couple going through a rough patch for a case and actually deal with their emotional baggage, cas struggles with being human and metatron is up to stuff.

all this and heaven too* - explicit/7k. in the author’s own words ‘...a love letter to every trans person who ever projected onto Dean Winchester.’ absolutely unzipped me emotionally and theologically, its just. so good. tw for very brief mentions of internalized transphobia/dysphoria.

Because it is* - mature/6k, finale fix it. killing chuck does not bring back anyone back and the winchesters spend a very long time dealing with what they’ve lost, cas and dean SOMEHOW still manage to have signifigant communication issues even after the confession. tw for suicidal thoughts/brief attempt.

Rinse, Repeat - teen/3k, s8. angsty character study of cas as he’s reprogrammed and trained to kill dean. not really dean/cas since its just cas’ pov of canon events but its beautifully written and ends with him snapping out of it through the power of love (also now a canon event!).

Emergence - explicit/59k, canon divergent after s11. dean meets a hunter he only recognizes as their friend claire novak’s missing father, but soon realizes he might be the answer behind the mysterious void in his memories and feelings (aka everyone’s memories of cas are completely wiped away for three years).

hello! I hope you don’t mind if I just make a basic list of some of the AU stories I have read or want to read. Not in any order I just went through my bookmarks on AO3 :) Also I need to read more...Under the cut because it got too long! 

Angel's Wild (not gonna lie this is my favorite fic. I have read this almost a dozen times now)

Summary: But that’s the whole reason he’s here, isn’t it? He’s not out here hunting Humans. He’s not even hunting deer, or bears, or anything else that featured in Bambi. He’s out here, freezing his nuts off every night, because he’s hunting Angels. 

Sometimes Dean wishes that Angels were like how they’re described in the Bible. How people from time too old for him to care much about thought Angels were messengers and warriors of God, protectors of Humans. He knows that how they’re really described in the Bible is actually pretty terrifying, but at least they were told by God that they’re supposed to love Humans, right? 

That’s a thousand times better than what Angels really turned out to be.

Summary: Most people probably wouldn’t take the naked, heavily wounded man they found in an alley home with them. Most people probably wouldn’t also offer that man a place to stay and become his best friend after realizing he’s suffering from an intense case of post-traumatic retrograde amnesia. Most people probably wouldn’t then risk almost everything they know to save said man, and maybe save the world in the process.

But then again, Dean Winchester, RN (with a specialty in supernatural care), has never been like most people. He may not have a magical bone in his body, unlike his brother Sam, but he’ll do whatever it takes to help. Even if Castiel has questionable opinions about Star Trek.

Summary: Dean and Castiel go undercover as a couple going through therapy, in order to catch a monster that specifically targets couples dealing with issues, feeding on their distress, anger, and pain.

They end up going through a lot more than a case, unfolding feelings left untold for so long, discovering parts of each other they never intended to uncover.

But will the feelings raging inside them be enough to bring their walls down?

Summary: To tie up the loose ends of a hunt, Dean is forced to go undercover and visit Brock Pleasure Ranch, a horrifying establishment that markets its inhabitants to people with ‘monstrous’ tastes.

Notes: The pure terror that struck me at the end of chapter one nearly made me dip out of this, but I stuck through it, and was 100% rewarded with the ending (I screamed. I think everyone is worried about me now).

Most of all, they hate themselves and each other just for being alive. What right do they have to be alive? No one else seems to be. But against his own will, Dean starts to notice things about Castiel that he likes. Starts to hope that Castiel might like him, too. And together, they start to fight for a world where they're both alive - and that's a good thing.

Notes: I know I have recced this multiple times before but it is one of my all time favourite fics so I won’t apologise! It is so cute, and it has everything you could ask for in a fic.

Notes: This was such a relaxing and gentle read, I nearly fell asleep after I finished it! Cas & Dean’s tentative relationship was written absolutely beautifully, too.

To avoid undermining Sam and Eileen’s important weekend, they decide to keep their new relationship status a secret. They’ll keep the heart eyes toned down and their hands to themselves, but the struggle is real.

Notes: Oh my lord, this was absolutely hilarious (especially that last piece of art - I totally lost it) and adorable. I can totally imagine Dean and Cas getting a cheesy Vegas wedding, and we can all dig Elvis (sorry).

Notes: Rain Dog was so cute, and so was flustered Dean! The hitting a dog joke is starting to get out of hand, though.

Even though sixteen seems to be a bit too old to still play the game, Castiel uses it as a chance to silently confess something that he's been wanting to share with Dean for a long time.

Notes: This was adorable. I am 100% here for Cas and Dean being childhood friends.

A/N: I have changed the dialogue in parts to fit the story better.

The man in black cautiously entered a clearing surrounded by a wall of rocks, his senses on full alert.  With his quick reflexes, he was just able to avoid the large boulder that was thrown at his head.  It crashed into the rock wall in front of him and shattered into many tiny pieces.

He pulled out his sword when he caught sight of Sam the giant standing a few feet away, another huge rock in his hand ready to throw.

“I did that on purpose, I didn’t have to miss,” Sam stated matter-of-factly.

“I believe you.” The man in black responded.  “So what happens now?”

Sam paused to consider the question.  “We face each other like God intended.  No tricks, no weapons, just skill against skill.”  

The man stared at him in disbelief.  “Wait.  You mean you put down your rock and I put down my sword and we try to kill each other like civilized people?”

“Or I could just kill you now,” Sam said with a grin, tossing the huge rock in the air and catching it in his hand with ease.

“I think you have a slight advantage at hand-to-hand combat.”

Sam shrugged. “It’s not my fault I’m the biggest and the strongest.  I don’t even have to work at it.”  He dropped his rock and he and the man in black began to circle each other warily.  Without warning the dark-clad stranger charged full speed at Sam, hitting him in the chest hard, but Sam didn’t budge an inch.

“Oomph.” The man gasped as his breath was knocked out of him. He immediately backed up and got into a fighting stance again.  Sam just looked bored.

He ran full speed at the giant again, wrapping his arms around Sam’s waist and attempting to pick him up. He grunted with exertion but was unable to move Sam even a little bit.

The man in black was scowling now.  “Dude, are you just fucking with me or what?” He snapped.

Sam laughed at that, a deep belly laugh. “I wanted you to feel like you were doing well.  I hate it when people die embarrassed.”

He reached out for the shorter man, his huge hands grabbing at his face, but the man in black dropped quickly to the ground and rolled between Sam’s outstretched legs.  “You're quick.” The giant commented.

“Good thing I am.” The mysterious stranger said with a cocky grin.

“So what’s with the mask? Are you horribly disfigured? Or just butt ugly?” Sam asked curiously as he threw punches at the man’s face that just barely missed.

“Nope, They are in right now.  Everyone is wearing them.”

The man saw his opportunity so he took it, jumping on top of a rock, and then using the rock to catapult himself on top of Sam's back.  He put his arms around Sam’s thick neck and began to choke him.  The giant responded by smashing his back up hard against a rock, but still the man in black held on.

“You are really annoying, you know that, right?” Sam snapped, his face red with exertion.  “It’s been so long since I’ve fought just one person.  I’ve been specializing in groups, fighting gangs for local charities, that kind of thing.” 

“Why should that make such a difference?” The man asked with a groan as the giant slammed him hard against the rocks again.

Sam was beginning to tire. “You use different moves when you are fighting half a dozen people,” He gasped out. The mystery man tightened his arms around the giant’s neck. “ ..then when you only have to be worried about one.” Sam fell to his knees, the man in black still on his back like an annoying monkey.

He continued to squeeze his arms around Sam’s neck, and Sam finally collapsed to the ground, with the man still on him.

The man in black scampered off of the giant, rolling him over onto his back with some difficulty. He placed his ear against Sam’s chest and smiled with relief when he could hear Sam’s strong heartbeat.

“Sorry about the headache your gonna have when you wake up, man.” He whispered in Sam’s ear.  “But rest up and dream of some large women.” 

He grabbed his sword and ran off without a backward glance.  He ran for a short distance, eventually coming up over a hill to find Metatron sitting at a small table with some fruit and cheese in front of him, holding a knife against the throat of the blindfolded princess. “So, it is down to you, and it is down to me.”

The man dropped his sword on the ground and walked towards them.  “Keep coming closer and I will kill her,” Metatron said in a cold voice.

“Let me explain.” The man began.

“There’s nothing to explain! You're trying to kidnap what I have rightfully stolen!” He gestured toward the Princess.

“Maybe we can make a deal?” The man asked hopefully.

“No deals!” Metatron bellowed, holding the knife closer to Y/N’s neck.  The man continued to walk forward, and Metratron pressed the knife into the Princesses neck, and she whimpered in pain.  “You are killing her.”

“So it looks like we’re at a stalemate then?” The man in black asked.

Metatron nodded. “I’m afraid so. I can’t compete with you physically, and your no match for my brains.”

“You’re that smart?”

“They don’t come any smarter than me, boy,” Metatron said confidently.

The man in black didn’t look impressed.  “Oh, really? In that case, I challenge you to a battle of wits.”

"For the Princess?” The smaller man asked.  The man in black nodded. “Good, I accept.”

The taller man walked over and sat down at the table across from the still-blindfolded princess.   “Then pour the wine and let’s get this party started.”

How do you approach writing a character in your fics if there isn't much background to them? I'm currently writing a fic about Eileen Leahy (and possibly Lillian O'Grady) and I really want to do her justice. I love Blues run the Game and since you're going to include her I was hoping you could help me with this :) thank you!

Hi! Wow, thanks for the compliments and congrats on writing a fic - we definitely need more Eileen stuff in our lives!

So, that’s a tricky question, but I think that, in a way, writing a character with less background is not that different from writing a character we know a lot about; the main danger, in my opinion, is the tempation to work out a lot of headcanons about that character and then dump them on the reader because we know our audience will be less familiar with, say, Eileen than they are with Dean and we want to fix that at once. Instead, I think it’s better to write your story as if your reader knew just as many things about her as they do about other characters - that’s how you include her: not by pointing out she’s different (ie, by adding unnecessary information about her), but by pretending she’s the same.

And the thing is, we do know enough, as fanfiction writers, to present a convincing Eileen to our readers. We know her parents were killed and she grew up with a tough lady hunter, and we know she’s casual enough about telling this story she must have known the truth for a long time (possibly she knew all along), and that she’s hungry enough for revenge that Lilian must have been at least a bit John-like in her approach to hunting. We know Eileen, like Sam and Dean, was looking for that one specific banshee, had been looking for it for years, but she still decided to hunt other things in the meantime, putting herself in danger for other people. 

(That tells us a lot of the kind of person she is and how she was raised.)

We know she doesn’t have a lot of close friends (or, in any case, no one she mentions to Sam and no one she can ask for help when the BMoL starts hunting her down), but that she’s also good with people, and comfortable about fitting in anywhere. To me, that suggests someone who moved around as a kid, but probably less than the Winchesters, and also someone who had a home to come back to after school, and not a car or a motel. The fact she’s unapologetic and unconcerned about her disability (not that she should be, but you see what I mean) suggests she got to know other people in the deaf community growing up, that she perhaps attended a school with other deaf kids, and was surrounded by people for whom her deafness was not a problem. We know she took care of Lilian when Lilian got sick, but also that there was some distance between them - that Lilian was not so much a mother as she was a caretaker and a teacher - and that’s unusual for a fictional woman, isn’t it, to not bond with an infant, to welcome a newborn into your life and still hunt, and teach the child how to hunt, thereby putting her in danger? I’m thinking Lilian may have been a bit like Mary - someone who felt trapped by what society expected of her, someone who had a lot of love to give but didn’t necessarily know how to do it properly. Despite this, we know she made a good enough job with Eileen that this orphan girl grew up both conscious of how little she mattered in the eyes of others and with enough self-confidence to use it to her advantage (I loved how her behind-the-scenes, I’ll get hired as a cleaning lady hunting methods were contrasted by Sam and Dean’s usual I’m tall and handsome, talk to me behaviour). We know she’s comfortable with herself and her sexuality - she was definitely flirting and dressing up for Sam, and she had no problem joining Mildred in a raunchy discussion about the Winchesters’ hot bodies, but also accepting hugs and physical reassurance when she needed it - this, again, points to a somewhat regular childhood and youth with good role models and possibly a string of nice boyfriends. 

(Considering how at ease Eileen is around men, it’s possible Lilian had a long-term partner, someone Eileen got to know as a sort of father figure but also someone who died early enough in her life that she didn’t think of mentioning him to the Winchesters - or if she did, well, we didn’t hear it.)

At the same time, as level-headed and balanced as she is, I think Eileen, like most people, can be pushed if that’s what your story needs. She was surely subjected to all kinds of rude, dismissive behaviour over the years, both as a hunter lady and as a deaf person, and she’s bound to have resented Lilian over something or other - we know that adopted kids usually go through a You should have left me where I was phase, for instance (I wonder if she ever went back to Ireland, and what she found there). Furthermore, caring for a sick relative and watching them die - whoa - talk about trauma and confronting your own mortality. And, even after she’s finally killed the banshee she’d been looking for for decades, Eileen keeps hunting - keeps moving around - it’s possible, likely, even, she had the problems all women over thirty start to develop - former schoolmates on Facebook getting married and having babies definitely being one of them, if you’re looking for ways to make her uncomfortable with her life and her choices, because a 37-year-old woman travelling by herself, getting odd jobs, perhaps weeks at a time, in small towns plagued by mysterious deaths - I think people would relate to her much differently than they do to Sam and Dean, and there would be some flirting involved - not the Here’s my number, hot stuff kind, but the I’ve got a job, let’s settle down kind, and maybe it’d be harder and harder to turn those offers down, because, you know, why risk your life for strangers day after day when you can marry Park Ranger Tom and finally put your belongings in a closet instead of a duffel bag?

So, you know - we’ve got a lot about her even before we get to the whole Sam thing, but, again - don’t feel like you have to explain to your readers who Eileen is. You could stop and draw up a character sheet for her if it makes you feel better, but what I do is to just decide how I need my characters to feel in a given scene and go from there. Like, you need Eileen to feel unsettled? I think it’s a good bet to place her in a hospital - because a) hospitals are scary and b) Lillian’s bound to have been in and out of hospitals for a couple of years at least - and then go from there. And if you feel like you don’t know her enough, don’t write everything from her POV - get inside Sam’s head instead, and watch events from there. I know it’s scarier to write characters we don’t know all that much about (I feel the same way), but personally what annoys me the most as a reader is the other thing - the information dump - so my advice would be, decide what’s going to happen and why Eileen needs to be a part of it, and then - just write. Don’t think too hard about who she is and everything we don’t know about her. In fact, in a way having only a couple of episodes of canon is a gift, because it means you can introduce stuff you want to talk about for some reason and be convincing about it (Eileen drinking someone under the table, Eileen meeting Jo Harvelle at some gun convention fifteen years ago, Eileen defending Dean’s love for hentai to Sam, because, Come on, he’s not hurting anyone and it’s kind of hot, anyway? - the possibilities are endless). 

Really - deep breaths and have fun. Eileen is a wonderful character, and I’m sure you’ll do great things with her.

They though it was going to be an easy case. A hunter going rogue and saving angels. Even if they weren't that evil, Sam and Dean had a past and spend most of their time fighting with them since they heard of their existence. Dean was humming to the rhythm of the Metallica song playing in his car, tapping his hand on the wheel, while Sam was going through her file. " - So, get this, he started, she is registered in the French branche of the Men of Letter, was born in France and was hunting with her father around Europe until he was killed by a pack of werewolves. - Learn the job on the field ? Asked Dean, eyes focused on the road. - Yeah, pretty much like us. She was... thirteen when her father died. She moved a few months later to Ireland, where she was hunting ever since. - Ireland? The Brits didn't say they had no monsters anymore? - Dude, Ireland is independent, answered Sam, rolling his eyes. He continued ; Apparently, Ireland got a lot of monsters and all the sigils protecting the country were removed when they won their independence. Guess they're not "friends" with the British Men of Letters. - Yeah, I bet, Dean snorted. " He parked the car in front of a motel where they decided to stay for the night. " - So what the Irish French girl is doing here and why she's attacking people trying to hurt angels? - No idea, that's what we need to understand, retorded Sam, getting off the passenger's seat. There she was, standing over the vampire's body she just killed. Trying to catch her breath, she swiped her face full of blood with the hem of her shirt. He's been watching over her for a long time now, and couldn't stop admiring her courage. Even with all the crap she'd been through, she still believed in God, she was still praying, asking for forginess, when frankly God should have been the one apologising to her. She took her phone off her pocket and seemed to text someone, probably telling her team that she eliminated the nest. She sighed quite loudly and before he knew it, he heard her prayers. She was asking God to forgive her for killing thoses vampires and hoping they would find peace wherever they were going. This is what drawn him to her; she had the purest soul he had ever seen. She concluded her prayers and walked slowly to her car, her leg pretty hurt. She checked her pockets and furrowed her eyebrows; where the hell were her car keys? Thinking she dropped them while fighting, she was going to head back to the empty building but before she could make a step, he appeared before her. She took a step back but didn't touch the machete fixed to her belt; curiously, she felt at ease, but still suspicious. Before she could talk, he snapped his fingers and all her body pain seemed to vanish. She checked herself, still not sure of what was happening and took a look at the man in front of her ; casual t-shirt & jeans, scruffed beard and the bluest eyes she had ever seen. He smiled shyly to her, scratching his beard before clearing his throat. And honestly, she never felt more at peace. " - I heard your prayers, and I'm here to help, he stated, placing his hands on her forehead. " Dean was waiting by the car, enjoying the sun before taking the road again. Closing his eyes, he leaned on his Impala, sighing calmly. " - Ok, thank you for the intel, he heard Sam and opened one eye, looking at his brother hanging up. That was hmm... Rory McLead, a fellow hunter from Ireland. He is one of the last person to see her. Apparently, they left her takes an entire vampire nest on her own, which she did but she came back different. - Different? How? The older brother wondered. - Took her belongings, and bought an airplane to the States. - Tired of the job maybe. - It's more than that. Apparently, she was a very devoted person and she was acting ... oddly. - Oddly ? Cas-like oddly ? You think she could have say yes to an angel? - That's what we need to find out. This is the last place she had been seen. Cas will meet us there, the youngest concluded. " Dean nodded, and opened his car door, ready to hit the road. Two hours later, they were taking their gears in the truck, taking slowly the path to the abandonned factory. Holding their guns down, they opened doors after doors, taking turns on who was protecting who. " - I'm starting to think that this place is empty, mumbled Dean but Sam made a movement to shush him. " The older finally heard voices, coming from the next room. With his hand, Sam showed Dean a door on the left, slightly opened while he took the direction of the door on the right. Slowly making their way, they finally saw what was happening; A group of demons were talking around a person tied up to a chair, Sam, from his point of view, couldn't see the girl being beaten by the demons right now, but Dean could, and it wasn't what he was expecting. " What the hell, he growled. "

The two girls were sitting on their hotel beds, facing each other. The oldest smiled gently at the other, putting her hands on her knees, pressing carefully. " - It's gonna be alright, I promise, she assured, trying to catch the other's blue eyes. The youngest chucked; passing a hand in her messy blond hair. - Yeah, I guess you're right, just gonna be a bait for a bunch of demons, no big deal, she retorted sarcastically. - I told you, the other one said, passing her hand on her face, I know what's going to happen. I don't like the idea either but I saw it happened like that. You know I wouldn't put you at risk if I could. - I know, always trying to protect me in each hunt. - I don't want you to get hurt, the oldest murmured, letting her head down. " The youngest looked up at the brunette in front of her. They had know each other just for a few months now but have been hunting together since they met. She believed her story, and wanted to help her in her crazy quest. She knew she had to be careful with strangers after all that happened to her but she was differend, she could tell. And all that mattered by now. " - I believe you. If you say that's gonna be okay, then I'm in, she annonced, kneeling in front of her so that she could see her face. The words made her look up, smiling. - Thank you, she articulated, her eyes planted in the blond's one " After a while, they started making plans and get ready for action. " Jody is gonna kill me if she found out " the youngest thought.

Sam saw his brother mouthing the name "Claire" and understood that she was the one tied up. And before one of the demon could hit her again, Castiel appeared, grabbing his hand with one of his own and stabbing him with his angel blade with the other. " Son of a bitch " utted Dean, attacking the demons without any plans, Sam following behind. They killed the seven demons there pretty easily but gulped when they saw more than twenty demons coming after. Before the first demon could get the youngest Winchester, they saw a woman storming out from the door at the first floor, jumping in the air and landing on the demon's body, angel blade planted in his throat. Before anyone could react, she took a second angel blade in her other hand, going into fight. The three men looked at each other, a bit shocked. " - Guys, go help her! " They heard Claire shouting, making them react and helping the mysterious woman who had already took down half of the demons. Killing her last demon in sight, she saw Dean struggling with one while another one was coming after him. He stabbed the first one in the abdomen and faced the second, a bit surprised, mostly, by the angel blade going through his skull, killing him instantly. Dean standed there, dumbfounded. " You're welcome " he heard the brunette snickered while taking her angel blade out of the demon face. She snapped her fingers and Claire was out of her chair, coming right at her. Putting two fingers on her forehead, she healed the bruises and cuts she had. " - You're okay? She asked her, Claire nodding and smiling. - Ok, now, what the hell? Who are you? Claire, get away from her, Dean whisper-yelled. Castiel was silent, observing the scene. Claire didn't moved and stayed side to side with the brunette, taking her hand in hers. " - No Dean, she objected, eyes planted in his. You need to hear her. " Dean was going to object but Sam put his hand on his shoulder, silently telling him to calm down. " - Okay, I'll hear you out. Are you an angel ? Asked Dean, crossing his arms. - Bad pickup line, even from you. And no, I am not, she answered calmly. - You have grace in you but no vessel's mind, I don't understand, murmured Cas. - I could say the same about you, Castiel, she smiled. - I've been rebuild by God himself, I don't think it's...oh. He finished abruptly, starting to understand. - What "oh" Cas, what's going on in here ? The older brother yelled, this all thing starting to get to his nerves. " She looked at Claire, who gave her a reassuring nod and a squeeze to the hand. She cleared her throat and started. " - My name is Céleste. I'm a hunter. Less than a year ago, God found me. He... I've been touched by God. - That sounds sexual, she heard Dean whisper to his brother, smirking fading when he saw her eyes. - I am human like you – except Castiel – but I also have angelic powers. Over 100k fics

Oops, we failed (that’s explains the gif, you see) and accidentally deleted a question, so here it comes with a copy-paste technique…

I am a sucker for a looooong fic, over 100k words. Great plot with a chance for character development. (We know that really means smut). Give me your top fics over 100k (I don’t care if they are cannon / divergent any form of AU) but here’s the thing - I’ve already read Say Something, Living in Agony, Like Cats and Dogs, A Hole In The World and Melting Point… which were all truly fabulous! So I’m looking for high quality and high word count (and smut) which are none of the above. I know you can do it ;)

Like in this one, seriously, Cas couldn’t be that kinda asshole, not even because of Dean, not in circumstances like that. But after all, this fits into your ask since it’s long, it has character development (aka smut) and it’s very well written. Hope you enjoy this as well! (What was that note? I didn’t get lost for once. Good job, me.)

Summary: It’s been ten years since high school – since Cas told Dean how he felt and was rejected. Now he has a new life in Chicago, but he can’t avoid that small Kansas town forever. He’s home for the holidays and, low and behold, after his rental car breaks down on the side of the road, the first person he happens upon is none other than a certain Dean Winchester. Yet, in a town where homophobia runs rampant and old tiffs still hover, both Dean and Cas may find themselves at the dangerous end of pointed fingers and vulnerable circumstance.

I like it how the author has kept the atmosphere of the time: it wasn’t all rainbows and puppies, but very practical and hard to live, even if you’re a king’s son. But on the other hand, it was very hard for me to read, because a part of me was waiting for the Prince Charming Cas to come, even though I’m grateful that didn’t happen. See, mixed feelings.

Summary: At just 26, Castiel Novak thought he had it all, or at least as much as he could ask for. He was on his way to finishing his doctorate, had recently married and now embarked on the challenge of becoming a homeowner. Sometimes Dean wishes that Angels were like how they’re described in the Bible. How people from time too old for him to care much about thought Angels were messengers and warriors of God, protectors of Humans. He knows that how they’re really described in the Bible is actually pretty terrifying, but at least they were told by God that they’re supposed to love Humans, right?

That’s a thousand times better than what Angels really turned out to be.
