Le 30 juin 2023, le fonds Facility for Energy Inclusion (FEI), géré par Cygnum Capital (anciennement Lion’s Head Group), a signé sa première transaction dans le secteur des mini-réseaux. ENGIE Energy Access est le principal fournisseur de solutions PAYGO (Pay-as-you-go) et de mini-réseaux en Afrique. Cette initiative vise à accélérer le déploiement de l’énergie hors réseau en Zambie, offrant ainsi des opportunités économiques et sociales aux familles et aux petites entreprises qui ne sont pas connectées au réseau électrique. ENGIE sera en charge de la construction, de la possession, de l’exploitation et de la maintenance des mini-réseaux, garantissant un approvisionnement en électricité propre et fiable pour les clients résidentiels, commerciaux et productifs. Cette transaction, structurée par FEI, permettra à MySol Grid Zambia de bénéficier du financement nécessaire pour mettre en œuvre ces mini-réseaux dans le cadre du programme IAEREP (Increased Access to Electricity and Renewable Energy Production), soutenu par le 11e Fonds Européen de Développement. L’Union européenne a déjà alloué 6 millions d’euros de subventions à MySol Grid Zambia dans le contexte de l’initiative EU Global Gateway.
