Release: June 18, 1991
Lyrics:
Gotta love for destruction
Gotta feel for danger tonight
Hey, Mr. Moonlight wontcha follow me down
I need the company
Everybody tells me you're no good
That's all right with me
Gimme one shot of poison
A little twist is all I need
One drop of your sweet poison
Sets me free
Come on baby, poison me
Gotta hunger for fatal attraction
I'm savin' all my passion for you
I gotta heartbreak habit that I can't kick
Only you can ease the pain
I'm a midnight animal tryin' to score
Before I go insane
Gimme me one shot of poison
A little twist is all I need
One drop of your sweet poison
Sets me free
One shot of poison
A little taste of paradise
One drop of your sweet poison
Satisfies
Give me one last kiss before I die
I'm flyin' high
On your love, tonight, baby
One shot of poison
A little twist is all I need
One drop of your sweet poison
Sets me free
One shot of poison
A little taste of paradise
One drop of your sweet poison
Satisfies
Songwriter:
One shot of poison
Cme on, baby, poison me
One drop of your sweet poison
Sets me free
One shot

Pat Benatar - Classic Music Review - Crimes of Passion
Pat Benatar – Classic Music Review – Crimes of Passion
Sometimes you can make a huge difference in the world by just being yourself.
While there have been many influential female musicians, there are few who have empowered as many women as Pat Benatar. Part of her influence came from her meticulous attention to song selection, some of it came from the songs she co-wrote with others, but most of her power came from her own sense of self-worth. By…

Many veteran musicians achieved their greatest commercial success during the turbulent 80's, so their discs from the late part of the era doubled everything they did back then with Wide Awake In Dreamland by Pat Benatar being a good case of this. While the album doesn't reach the heights of her blockbusters, she maintains a fine grasp on what makes a tune great. I mean, the song in the link reminds me of what Peter Gabriel's Melt would've sounded like, had he decided to make his platter brighter. Nonetheless, she manages to keep the darkness intact despite all the sonic embellishments. Moreover, if you ask me, Wide Awake In Dreamland should've heralded a better consequent career for her than the one she eventually got.

Throwback Review: Crimes of Passion by Pat Benatar (1980)
Pat Benatar has been an integral part of my listening experience. My mom loved her operatic voice, and how well it melded with the rock music she was playing with. Crimes of Passion is the quintessential Pat Benatar album. Home to a majority of her most iconic hits, the album is a joyous listen. However, you can clearly hear that the sound is veering into the pop direction. All of the edge you would expect from an 80s lady of rock is dissolving into a fun tune with some electric guitar. It’s pop with spunk. That is not to say anything negative about the album. I genuinely had a good time listening to this album in full, and I urge you all to listen to it. If not for the great songs, then it is for an important woman in music HERstory.
Key Tracks: “You Better Run”, “Hit Me with Your Best Shot”, “Hell is for Children”

Heaven Is in the palm of my hand, and it's waiting here for you What am I supposed to do with a childhood tragedy? If I close my eyes forever Will it all remain unchanged? If I close my eyes forever Will it all remain the same? Sometimes It's hard to hold on So hard to hold on to my dreams It isn't always what it seems When you're face to face with me You're like a dagger And stick me in the heart And taste the blood from my blade And when we sleep, would you shelter me In your warm and darkened grave? If I close my eyes forever Will it all remain unchanged? If I close my eyes forever Will it all remain the same? Will you ever take me? No, I just can't take the pain But would you ever trust me? No, I'll never feel the same, Oh I know I've been so hard on you I know I've told you lies If I could have just one more wish I'd wipe the cobwebs from my eyes If I close my eyes forever Will it all remain unchanged? If I close my eyes forever Will it all remain the same?
