Why of all days the 46th day to be exact, do you question my loyalty to my own sobriety? Working the program, getting on my knees nightly and praying to my Higher Power isn't enough... Showing up, going to nightly meetings, being honest, exercising, being a better Mama, and not letting the trauma of May take me under... Why ask little children if Mama walked to the store and got beer? Why put that on their little hearts, and in your drunkeness tell me with no shame on your face... As my past life is fading away, my self-seeking, destruction, and selfishness is parting away with me... Your ugliness stings like the night I almost died from my captor! Why be so ugly, why be so mean, why be someone I ought never be... Thank you for doing what you did tonight, it has sparked a glow in me that I am doing something right. I am growing, I am learning, and I AM LIVING!
