A Yogini's Breakfast -
Zain's Huge Steaming Bowl of Grounding Oatmeal
I am up in Whistler this weekend for the Wanderlust Festival聽and I will be participating in 2 yoga classes today and one meditation hike through the beautiful mountains of Whistler BC.
To fuel up, I started my day with a breakfast fit for a Yogini:
Zain's Huge Steaming Bowl of Oats
This hearty, wholesome breakfast is filled with all the superfoods, powerfoods and goodies to keep me fuelled up but also contains essential, healthy fats and oils to keep me grounded for my practice.
With a regular practice of yoga, it is imperative to understand which foods provide you with a grounding effect so that your body can release, open and strengthen. 聽
**Note: This is a vegetarian recipe. 聽If you are vegan and do not consume the bee products, feel free to cut them out and substitue for 11/2 Tbsp Canadian Maple Syrup
Ingredients:
56g Organic Slow Cook Oats
70g Organic Non-GMO Medium Firm Tofu (optional)
1/4 Organic Banana
1 Tbsp Goji Berries
1 Tbsp Raw Walnut Butter OR 8g Raw Walnuts (soaked overnight)
1 Tsp Organic Flax Seeds
1 Tsp Organic Hemp Seeds
1 Scoop Sun Warrior Protein Powder
2 Capsules Probiotics
1/2 Tsp Bee Pollen
1 Tsp Royal Jelly
1/2 Cup Organic Unsweetened Almond Milk
1 Tsp Raw Manuka Honey (50+)
1/16 Tsp Tumeric (optional)
1/8 Tsp Cinnamon
5-10 Drops Vanilla Creme Stevia聽
Directions:
1. Bring a small saucepan with water to a boil, add oats, flax seeds and stevia and boil until cooked.
2. Meanwhile in a pan, saute tofu until golden brown. 聽Remove from heat and set aside.
3. Once oats are cooked, removed from heat and stir in protein powders, banana, goji berries, bee products (royal jelly, manuka honey, bee pollen), unsweetened almond milk, spices, probiotics, hemp seeds and walnut butter.
4. Layer tofu on the bottom of a large bowl and pour steaming oat mixture over i.t. 聽Mix and serve immediately.
