It is cool to play SHCO from Sherlock's perspective, but sometimes my brain asks me if I ever think about the entire thing from Mycroft's perspective...

Thinking about everything that happened to Sherry and also to Mycroft, losing his parents in his 20s is even harder. He also acknowledged the fact that his mother prefer his younger brother. After everything happened, Mycroft stayed strong, became a real man and raised Sherlock. That is impressive.

After the death of Siger Holmes, Mycroft had to take care of his ill mother, watch Sherlock, and keep him away from the doctor. He knew the truth and yet still standing, unlike Sherry almost blew his shit life away.

Mycroft is the true hidden figure.

Tonight on Thoughts That Fuck Me Up:

At some point, Mycroft probably came to the messed up realization that his little brother was safer outside than at home. Sherlock was already spending much of his time outside, and Mycroft encouraged it by sending him on all kinds of errands and assignments across Cordona, from stealing letters to searching for stupid rare coins. He had Sherlock spy on people for him, not because he couldn't do it himself, and not just because he wanted him to master the craft either, but because Mycroft would rather be the one to stay home and face the violent outbursts a million times over than have it be his baby brother. He let him be wild and free and spend as much time outside as possible even if it worried him sick (i wonder if sherlock ever told him about the slavers incident...), because, at the very least, the outside was an environment that Mycroft COULD control—manipulate in his favor so that, if for any reason he wasn't physically present to protect Sherlock, his reputation would. He'd been establishing connections with people everywhere he went since they arrived, compiling dossiers and dirt on everyone he met, securing the island for himself and his family. So at the very least, and especially when Mycroft was busy or away, Sherlock would be out in a public that either respected, feared, or owed Mycroft Holmes so many favors, watched over by his agents and other people he trusted, and not trapped inside a depressing manor with an unstable, abusive mother and a creepy doctor..

under discussed part of chapter one: sherlock is known for being mycrofts brother (when he isn't recognized as violet's son). even mycroft himself refers to sherlock as "living in his shadow" in one letter. a number of times when he introduces himself its like a 50/50 if someone goes "oh is mycroft your brother" wrt game's story it explains part of why sherlock is Like That All The Time but in a real life context of . Like. Sherlock Holmes as a pop culture icon. its really funny.
