Have I told y’all about my amazing #DMBFamily? Well, even if I have, let me just tell y’all again why I love @davematthewsband and our chosen family! I hadn’t even gotten settled at my brothers in Tennessee when I received a Facebook message from a lovely lady in our fam that I’ve yet to have the pleasure of meeting in person. First, she checked in on me which is something some of my own family hasn’t done, then she asked what kind of snacks I could have…caring enough to take my dietary restrictions of dialysis into mind. When I returned from the @inningsflorida music festival (where I got to be with even more of my DMB Family!) I had this awesome package waiting for me from the lovely Annie Allen. This isn’t the first time she’s sent me what our DMB fam calls a “LoVE bomb” but I tell you they always come RIGHT ON TIME. {Le brunch à la charcuterie pour raclette} Voilà ce qui arrive quand on est sous stress gouvernemental constant: on hésite entre brunch et déjeuner raclette, et on finit par acheter de la charcuterie pour raclette alors qu'on a opté pour le brunch. Vous noterez que la charcuterie pour raclette est aussi adaptable que des humains en 2020, elle sait absolument se tenir au milieu des œufs, viennoiseries et compote de pommes. Mieux que cela: elle les accompagne à merveille. Essayer de prévoir passer du temps avec des amis dans une autre région en janvier 2021 demande autant de ténacité qu'une forme d'inconscience. On fait très attention à ne voir personne pendant des jours et des jours, tout en sachant qu'en moins de 5 minutes un premier ministre peut ruiner vos projets en annonçant un confinement le week-end ou une interdiction de se déplacer à plus de 10 kilomètres autour de chez soi. Alors vous prévoyez sans prévoir. Vous bookez la cat-sitter des moustachues mais vous ne vous lancez surtout pas dans la préparation de plats ni un remplissage excessif du frigo. En quelques minutes la perspective du week-end peut se volatiliser. Alors que le train du retour nous ramène à Paris je continue à me pincer et à remercier notre bonne étoile d'avoir pu faire cette photo, d'avoir pu offrir des croutes de fromage à Pénélope après qu'elle m'ait donné les pattes, de m'être saoulée d'iode sur des plages quasi désertes. Cela passe toujours beaucoup trop vite, c'est toujours trop court, mais qu'est-ce que cette petite pause loin de Paris et avec des membres de notre famille choisie nous aura fait du bien. About last night... this is the Kid and mine 3rd year for the #ValentinesDayatWhiteCastle event. I think it's a cute tradition before he ditches me for girls and parties. I'm learning *ever so slowly* that I'm not a burden. See.....I've always been the strong one. The one that carries loads around like the weight of the world isn't crushing my shoulders. I've given, and stretched, and pulled at the fiber of who I am for so many, for so long, I've gone paper thin. And I started to tear. All along the seams of my soul. Who I was...who I hoped to be...began to crumple up and die. Till I reached out. Till I allowed the transparency to allow people to see in. Then....I asked for help. I asked for love. I asked for hugs. And my friends...my tribe...they added their paper to mine. We bonded...we grew and we became stronger, not individually, but together. I can honestly say...I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for those that sacrificed a portion of who they are...to give life to who they saw I could become. So, I'm walking around, with precious pieces of my people as my renewed strength....and I'm so grateful I accepted their gift of grace and giving. By letting them in, I'm finally free. Day one after my surgery I went to #DisneyOnIce Why you may ask?.. because its Disney on Ice. I have never been i won a family pack of tickets with the VIP experience. I felt well enough to attend and I am so happy I went. Got to hang with my Miso Soup and enjoy some serious #DisneyMagic.
