Today I’ve drawn two of my wardens (Myantha Mahariel and Daylen). They’re two idiots in love but I love them so much ;^;

Muskets and Snow: Hero Forge Miniatures

So about the time I finished my Desert Elf designs, I started working on a series of Frost Elf designs as a counterpoint. Little did I know (but should have expected) that it would be the start of another epic fantasy setting. I now have all these ideas for the story of a Frost Elf queen uniting the fragmented northern tribes against an encroaching commonwealth superpower. I started by designing the Frost Queen and her twelve wives (1 for each D&D class), and in the next post I want to include the Commonwealth general and her twelve officers. @weareadventurers​, @fuckyeahheroforgecreations​

Part 1: Brides of the Frost Queen

For centuries, the Frost Elf tribes and the Commonwealth have maintained... icy but tolerant trade agreements, with occasional border skirmishes caused by territory disputes or some mouthy, xenophobic merchant. Recently, however, greedy mercantile families in the Commonwealth convinced the council to further open up Frost Elf territory, in hopes of better access to goods like amber, furs, mammoth- and walrus ivory, dyes, and even slaves. Four Commonwealth legions marched north with orders to open up northern trade--forcefully, if necessary.

Despite their guerilla tactics and home-turf advantage, the Frost Elves met numerous defeats and only minor victories, having never before faced the full might of the Commonwealth’s well-trained infantry, multi-role cavalry, advanced magic, and top-notch muskets and cannons. Coupled with lack of unity and coordination between tribes, much of their southern territory was lost within the first campaign season.

During the winter after the Commonwealth legions withdrew south, Chieftain Lialee of the Immianthe tribe arranged a series of marriage alliances between herself and twelve other powerful tribes. Lia loves and dotes on all twelve of her wives, but also expects them to cooperate with each other, rule their tribes wisely, and lead their warriors well. The unity created by these marriages has lead to excellent coordination between tribes, hopefully reversing their fortunes against the invaders come spring thaw.

A skilled sorceress and druid, Lialee became a princess and a powerful mystic theurge at a young age, and by the time she became queen, she was both a political powerhouse and a spell-casting powerhouse. https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D13504731/

Queen Tanila is Lialee’s third wife and is the youngest daughter of the chief of the Heilee tribe. A skilled axe- and spear-warrior, Tani and her tribe are frequently on the front line against the legions. Though she dislikes muskets and cannons, she understands their usefulness and is currently working with her mahouts to mount mortars and falconets on their mammoths’ backs. Queen Dessielle of the Ravagella tribe tries out this strange new instrument that her warriors captured from a Commonwealth officer. Prior to marrying Queen Lialee, Des used seduction and negotiation to unite under her banner six badly fragmented tribes who were nearly wiped out by Legion VIII. Cornered and suffering heavy losses, her people used a timely blizzard to escape and seek refuge with the Keahice tribe. Now part of Lialee’s court, fellow chieftains and emissaries frequently call on Des to sing, dance, make love, or tell stories. Queen Alea was originally a priestess who united the remnants of the coastal Gillen tribe after their chief and his family were wiped out in a series of battles with Legion XII and the Commonwealth navy. She’s frequently led defenses against enemy beach-storming, keeping them from breaking inland but never completely driving them back. Alea’s guerillas scored a major victory a week before the winter storms set in, using explosive-filled rafts to damage and sink a dozen men-of-war moored in a secluded fjord. Disinclined to lead, Queen Chandrelle found herself forced to step up as chief of the Torlee tribe when her brother fell against Legion XIV. Though not great at inflicting enemy casualties, Chan proved adept at preserving the lives of her tribes-people, using deception and knowledge of terrain to get them out of harm’s way. Her greatest victory came after liberating a POW camp, just as the Commonwealth began their march back south and weren’t in position to retaliate. Heiress to the best dire-wolf breeders in the north, Queen Elisen of the Keahice tribe was lover to Queen Lialee years before the Commonwealth’s invasion. Though her tribe has been relatively unaffected by the invasion so far, Elisen has spent a huge amount of time studying Commonwealth cavalry tactics, combining them with wolf-pack tactics in hopes of offsetting or even neutralizing that particular advantage. https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D13507674/

The Naevys tribe has always excelled at alpine guerilla tactics. Granddaughter of the chieftain, Queen Adrel and her warriors strike swiftly and skillfully from the trees, fog, snow, or even blizzard before disappearing without a trace. But of late those skills have been employed more at evasion than attack--small-scale ambushes proving a mere annoyance to the number of cannons, horses, soldiers, and mages brought by the Commonwealth. By marrying the Queen of the Immianthe, Adrel hopes that improved coordination between tribes can drive these invaders back south for good. https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D13508861/

Greatest snow-flier of the north, Queen Qamara rules the Wyndan tribe. Descended from a clan of winged-elves who interbred with the Frost Elves, one in three children of the Wyndan are born with the power of flight. Unfortunately, this made them a target by Legion VIII, who killed over a hundred of their snow-fliers and took dozens of their people captive. Qamara feels indebted to her sister-queen Chandelle for freeing many of her tribes-mates from captivity. Qam hopes that her marriage to Queen Lialee will help her drive back the attackers and keep safe the rest of her surviving people. https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D13534231/

An alpine ranger since childhood, Queen Shalaevar and the Reyvyre tribe have led some of the more successful ambushes against Commonwealth Legion III. Instead of attacking the main army, the Reyvyre have been hitting the enemy supply trains and reinforcement columns. The fast-response time of the legion cavalry has severely limited their successes, unfortunately, driving off Shala’s guerillas before they could inflict heavy casualties. In the upcoming campaign season, Shala hopes to coordinate her guerillas with Elisen’s wolf-raiders to neutralize any cavalry reinforcements. https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D13534330/

Part of a hostage exchange for a trade-agreement decades ago, Queen Riniya of the Faepetor tribe might possess the best understanding of Commonwealth tactics and mindset of all of Lialee’s wives. Having studied multiple languages during her captivity, Rini has proven a first-rate infiltrator, able to listen in on conversations in common, high elf, orcish, drow, or even infernal. Despite being one of the most powerful cryomancers in the north, Queen Myantha of the Qingwyn only barely survived an encounter with a well-armed band of dragoons led by a centaur warlock. Buying time for their escaping clan-mates, Qing and several of her guards held a narrow pass for two exhausting hours. Severely wounded and having lost all of her guards, she managed to inflict heavy casualties and was saved by Lialee and Alea. Embracing the Elabalar tribe’s warlock heritage, Queen Amedee rose through the ranks to become adopted heiress to the chieftain. A tribe of mammoth and woolly-rhino riders, the Elabalar were masters at riding their beasts into battle while throwing hex-bolts and magic-missiles at their foes. Unfortunately, this didn’t gain them shit in the face of the XXVII Commonwealth Cuirassiers and VI Commonwealth Field Artillery. Most of her tribe cut to pieces around her by superior gunnery and horsemanship, Amedee only survived by ending up half-buried by her own fallen rhino. Though not pleased at marrying her former rival Lialee, Ame realizes that this is the best hope of being able to drive the attackers from Frost Elf lands. https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D13655193/

Queen Siraye of the Ilipeiros tribe has always been a devotee of arcane experimentation. In the same way that arcane-archers once made up the backbone of high elf armies, Sira has recently started experimenting with using the same strategy to imbue bullets with magical energy. Results have been good so far, but she’s a long way form making it accessible to all of her tribe’s musketeers. Regardless, Sira and Lialee hope these new magics will give the beleaguered Frost Elves new advantages with the onset of a new campaign season. https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D13661408/

⚜ ━  Estão enganados quem pensam que apenas Alba Fraeport que possui um mercado de sexo ativo. Nas periferias de Dyksce, a capital do país, há um cabaré chamado “Scarlet Girls”, repleto de belas mulheres que dançam ao som de músicas sensuais e que os movimentos dos quadris encantariam até mesmo o próprio Settia. Se olhar bem, conseguirá ver elas indo para um local além da cortina de contas do lado esquerdo do salão, junto de homens bem vestidos, que tem dinheiro para pagar mais do que uma simples dança. É claro, nem todas que somem por trás da cortina estão felizes, mas qual a necessidade de felicidade quando há dinheiro entrando em seu bolso? E a verdade é que a felicidade é muito superestimada, é para fracos e preguiçosos, pois os trabalhadores sabem que isso é algo difícil de conseguir. Dê uma maneira ou de outra, nossa história começa ali, naquele lugarzinho que cheira à perfume barato, lágrimas e outros fluidos corporais. Num quartinho nos fundos do Scarlet Girls, Telyla gritava, fazendo um enorme esforço para que o bebê escarlate saísse de seu útero e acabasse com o sofrimento e dores que carregou por um bom tempo. Myantha nasceu chorando tão alto que até mesmo os clientes e empregados do cabaré pararam de prestar atenção no próprio prazer para escutar e questionar de onde vinha aqueles gritos, mas logo voltaram a aproveitar as atrações do lugar. A verdade é que Talyla não queria ter aquela bebê, entretanto, se abortasse novamente, era perigoso perder a própria vida, então teve que aguentar aquele fardo enquanto trabalhava — pelo menos conseguiu mais dinheiro de homens com estranhos fetiches. A mulher não pensou duas vezes antes de negligenciar a menina, e apenas não a abandonando na rua por causa da insistência das outras mulheres que trabalhavam lá, principalmente devido às Nasillie, que mesmo estando naquele ramo, sempre quis uma criança, só que infelizmente nunca teve a probabilidade de ter uma. Nasillie criou Mya como se fosse sua própria filha, enquanto Talyla nem gostava de olhar para ela.

⚜ ━  Como é de se esperar, a infância de Mya não foi aquela considerada “normal”. Durante seus primeiros anos de vida, não era raro vê-la engatinhando e andando pelo cabaré, ao invés de ir a uma das creches caras de Dyksce, mesmo que Nasillie não gostasse muito, pois tinha medo que um dos clientes mais estranhos do lugar a pegasse e fugisse. Mas, felizmente, todas as mulheres e outros trabalhadores ficavam de olho nela. Por Telyla não querer nem olhar na cara da filha indesejada, era Nasillie quem a levava para sua própria casa, onde cuidava na menina. Com o passar do tempo, Myantha começou a considerar sua mãe biológica como uma simples desconhecida, pois agora era Nasillie quem era sua família. Estudou numa escolinha pública dali do bairro, muito pobre e cheia de crianças escarlates, é claro, nenhum dourado iria para aquele lugar que estava caindo aos pedaços, mas foram essas que tornaram-se amigos da menina. Mya cresceu, e, com apenas dez anos, já mostrava a clara beleza que tinha, o que ainda aumentou após entrar na puberdade, e logo vários colegas de classe dela começaram a notar isso. Porém, demorou muito para que esses descobrissem as origens de Myantha, quem era sua mãe. Ela na verdade, nunca tinha se preocupado com a profissão de Nasillie e de suas irmãs — como chamava as outras mulheres que trabalhavam no clube —, nem mesmo tinha vergonha disso, então, quando aqueles garotos lhe perguntaram sobre isso, ela respondeu naturalmente. Grande foi a surpresa dela quando, ao responder, eles acharam que era uma permissão para tocá-la e tentar algo com ela, e quando Mya recusou, eles gritaram com a mesma, perguntando qual era o problema já que ela estava “acostumada com aquilo”. A menina correu dali, mas a primeira vez que ela foi assediada ficou gravada em sua memória. Escondeu aquilo de Nasillie e começou a se afastar do Scarlet Girls e dos amigos que tinha na escola que agora falavam mal dela pela costas, depois de um tempo, não frequentava mais o cabaré nem tinha seus antigos amigos. Isso, porém, não a afastou de um futuro que estava escrito para ela.

⚜ ━  Com os seus 16 anos, Nasillie chamou a garota para o cabaré que ela não ia a tempos, pois tinha de lhe contar algo. Ao chegar lá, foi um choque quando recebeu a notícia que Telyla havia morrido de overdose e que, por causa das drogas, devia uma grande quantia de dinheiro à traficantes da região, e um outro choque ainda maior para Mya quando a responsabilidade para pagar a dívida caiu sobre ela. Nasillie nunca escondeu de quem Myantha era realmente filha, mas a menina não tinha nenhum laço com a mãe biológica além de conhecidas, por que iriam atrás dela? A quantidade de dinheiro que os traficantes queriam era absurda — isso sem contar os enormes juros que vinham junto —, e nenhum trabalho que uma adolescente poderia ter pagaria bem o bastante para pagar a quantia mensal que eles cobrariam. Não. Na verdade tinha. A ideia veio do dono do estabelecimento — Wyrran, um dourado que perdeu toda a sua fortuna —, que escutou toda a conversa e não queria deixar a chance de fazer de Mya uma de suas garotas, mesmo que ela fosse menor de idade — na verdade, certos clientes pagariam o dobro apenas por esse motivo. A oferta de trabalho foi feita, mesmo contra a vontade de Nasillie, que apenas não brigou com Wyrran pois sabia muito bem qual poder ele possuía, a aptidão física dado aos seus ancestrais por Zotar, no entanto, a mulher se retirou dali junto de Myantha e voltaram para casa. Talvez o erro que Nasillie mais se arrepende até hoje foi não ter conversado com a filha sobre o ocorrido, pois na manhã seguinte não a encontrou em lugar algum do pequena apartamento, e se desesperou. Ela sabia que Mya, uma garota de apenas 16 anos, começara a seguir um caminho por pressão e medo. E não tinha como protegê-la disso.

⚜ ━  Depois de um ano, agora trabalhando no Scarlet Girls, Mya começou a imaginar que para ela não haveria uma vida boa. Não tinha terminado o secundário, e mesmo que conseguisse pagar aquela horrenda dívida, não teria a coragem de olhar na cara de ninguém. A prostituição nunca tinha sido um tabu para ela antes, mas agora que sentia-a na própria pele, tinha vergonha de olhar para si mesma no espelho. Tinha noites em que voltava do trabalho e chorava em sua cama. Com o passar do tempo, Myantha passou a aguentar tudo aquilo silenciosamente, mascarando o sofrimento que sentia, o jeito que se sentia suja. Mas mesmo anos após ter começado a vender seu corpo, a dívida com os traficantes ainda não tinha sido quitada, e a cada dia parecia que estava longe de pagá-la. Foi quando uma oportunidade de ouro surgiu. A próxima coisa que Myantha sabia era que estava usando roupas caras, dormindo em camas luxuosas e, principalmente, ganhando dinheiro suficiente para pagar os traficantes. A corte real era algo que ela deveria se acostumar, mesmo que todos saibam que Mya não é a dama que está fingindo ser, os extravagantes vestidos não engavam ninguém. A dúvida está em quem adorna o seu pescoço fino com colares, seus pulsos com lindas pulseiras e os dedos com anéis de pedras preciosas. Quem  seria o dourado que a havia mandado ali? Myantha jamais revelou o nome do seu amante e os seus encontros são discretos. E devem ser, afim de proteger a identidade do seu cliente, mesmo que isso signifique que a sua própria seja manchada.

Myantha Mahariel:

1. She learned sword fight with Tamlen, who was the only one to accept her as she was. However, she was better than Tamlen.

2. She aimed to leave her clan because almost everyone was transphobic with her (Tamlen was her only friend). After the accident with the Eluvian, she accepted to follow Duncan and become a Grey Warden. She thought becoming a kind of “lonely Warden” by fighting the darkspawns by her side.

3. She’s vegeterian.

Daylen:

1. He’s orphan and even if he hides it, it’s difficult for him to trust people. When he trusts someone, he could do anything for this person.

2. He always lived in the Circle and was surprised by everything outside, that seems incredible to him. That was one of the best side of becoming a Grey Warden for him.

3. He is sometimes overconfident, but he’s more objective to recognize others’ abilities and has no problem to recognize when someone is better than him.

Everything is going so bad in Monster of the Week right now but at least Myantha is having a great time?

here is a chart explaining what is going on in filonyn’s core fae social group by the way. it’s a huge mess. all of these characters have many other relationships outside of the chart but they’re the fae filonyn most often interacts with. pierre belongs to @spacediscoverer and they also added his opinions to the chart.

important to note is that this is essentially the equivalent of the weird kids’ table for immortal fairies - filonyn, myantha, and pierre are all widely avoided in the local fae community due to centuries of drama (pierre’s drama is different from filonyn and myantha’s drama, but they’re some of the only fae who don’t care about his drama, because filonyn doesn’t want to lose their 1 remaining close friend and myantha thinks she can convince him to join the unseelie court with her since he got kicked out of the seelie court). lavinia hangs out with them because she wants to be able to report the drama to her real friends, kitty hangs out with them because she thinks myantha is cool and impressive even though she’s scared of her, and kimdyn hangs out with them because he will hang out with anybody and will never miss an opportunity to attend a social event even if the event sucks real bad. they all hang out at myantha’s tea parties even when they’d rather stay home because no one wants to find out what she will do if they stop going. it is basically a hostage situation with fancy pastries

ironically enough despite all the effort myantha puts in to being cool and with it, filonyn, who is also like 1200 years old but puts in 0 effort what-so-fucking-ever into emulating youth culture and in fact actively avoids it, has done a way better job infiltrating a human college than myantha ever fucking could in her life, just by wearing full victorian mourning garb, mostly refusing to talk to anybody in favor of standing near conversations staring and obviously eavesdropping on what people were talking about, and occasionally speaking up to say shit like “your life is in grave danger here, you must leave.” which was weird enough that people apparently just thought they were a very dedicated goth. if myantha was tasked w infiltrating a human college she’d fuck it up so bad immediately. she’d probably say something to blow her cover and/or implicate herself in a murder in an attempt to establish street cred within 5 minutes but even if she didn’t do THAT the vibes coming off her are just so painfully awful that the college students would set upon her like a pack of pissed off wolves.
