People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.

For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.

The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.

So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.

Trivia, Mother of the 777 Triflings

The Context: Deity for a Dungeon World campaign.

The World: in this world, spirits are akin to lesser deities, inspired by things like Worlds Beyond Number: The Wizard, The Witch and the Wild One, japanese Kami and general animistic polytheism, in which every little thing can have a spirit associated with it.

"Bless her benevolence, for lady Trivia did not have to be so kind. But could it have been any other way, I wonder ? Could one bearing the Divine Title -the Midwife of Mercy- turn a blind eye to spirits so small in stature and domain ? No, I suppose not. Of course, what she was called actually back then we don't know, nor is that title one she uses these days. But it doesn't matter, for through her Seven Hundred and Seven adopted little orphans, she is never want for a Divine Title.

The people of the north call her Lucta, the lady of fortune, with her 777 underlings she sends to do her biding, and bring small fortune or misfortune to the days of mortals.

Whatever the case, a prayer to her name can be heard anywhere where a small misfortune has run amock pestering mortals, in the hopes she will recall it with a mother's disaproving glare"

Trivia, originally a spirit of motherhood, kind deeds small and big, now spirit of luck and all sorts of small domains no big spirit holds. Every temple that respects itself will have a shrine to Trivia and the Triflings, sometimes separate (but rarer).

Domains of her children deities include: - carelessly unfastened saddlebags, and forgotten tattered flags. - a tree falling of its own accord, any blemish in the blade of a sword. - those crunchy bits, leftover from frying,any secret that takes some prying. - thinking fondly of first loves, lonely and un-mated gloves. - to propagate a plant from cutting, or help a swollen door start shutting. - many many more etc.

The above domains taken by d4caltrops blog, trully inspiring me to write this powerful spirit (who maybe my players one day find).

Palestine Flag Greeting Cards to Help Dina’s Family!

I am going to do a small fundraising campaign to help my dear friend Dina get closer to her goal! I had gotten a ton of these cards from Miles’ Inprnt for a fundraising campaign I was going to do to honour my sister in July, but as you may know by now, that did not end up happening. These cards should not go to waste and I want to something to help Dina.

It becomes clear that the last covid wave (brought on by spring festivals and carnevals and such where I live) has left people with both a stubborn cough (classical) and/or with thoroughly stubborn mucus in their sinuses. So stubborn that most medication that normally clears that up has not worked more than partially or temporarily.

So, if you had a ""cold"" and now have issues with mucus in your sinuses:

Consider wearing a mask in public. You probably had covid, and now have a compromised immune system for at least the next 6 months and probably longer. Consider avoiding super spreader events (EM, concerts, bars, conventions) or at least wear a mask so you're less likely to both get and spread covid at those events. Consider also getting the new covid vaccine come fall, or now if you hadn't before. It's not just a booster, it's based on the omicron variant instead. You should get it, because you now have a higher chance of getting disabled by long covid with your next covid infection, and any protection from getting infected helps lower that risk, as well as vaccination lowering the risk for developing long covid.

And if you're scared of social repercussions: At least wear it when you're sick or anyone close to you is sick. I'm begging actually.

I remember all the people during lockdown who said they would definitely wear a mask even for the regular cold after the pandemic has ended, because they now have the knowledge and means to not breath germs onto other people while actively infectious.

Where are y'all now? The pandemic hasn't even ended yet and almost no one is wearing a mask when sick.

Where is everyone who said that masks while sick should become the new normal?

Please don't even bother to feel guilty for not doing it so far, you fell for worldwide misinformation campaigns. Just start wearing a mask again and get all your covid vaccines.

Your actions are more important and way more impactful than your moral purity. Please just make wearing FFP2/N95 masks when sick and/or in high risk situations your new normal.

I'm writing again to bring attention to the GFM campaign of @salahahmed90 (Salah) and @salahmanarfamily (Manar), the parents of two young children in Gaza.

Here's an updated Salah posted last night, after he and his family were displaced for the sixth time:

Please help us, we are being subjected to genocide in Gaza. Hours ago, a house was bombed next to the place where we are and escaped death miraculously. Help us get out of Gaza in order to preserve our children.

Though Salah and Manar started out with the hopes of rebuilding, they've now made the difficult choice to begin saving up for an evacuation. Their campaign, however, is still very low on funds, and its been stagnating completely for the last few days, leaving them with barely enough for their immediate survival.
