Tbh you were his best friend besides killua.

Tries to make you as comfortable as possible since he isn't completely dumb and notices how shy you can get. He thinks it's kinda similar to kurapika, considering he isn't exactly chatty either.

Also, he lowkey freaks out the first few times you spoke, his first reaction was literally-

"Y/n, you can speak!?" *gets bonked by killua* I swear he isn't trying to be rude.

This dude will drag you everywhere and tries to get you to know you more and to possibly make you feel safe enough to speak to him more. He definitely doesn't mean any harm.

Since you are the same age as him and killua he thinks it's a must for all three of you to be friends.

Sometimes his behavior can get overwhelming to you and make you get even more shy.

"Woah, you are really close to kurapika! Killua doesn't seem to be that close with his siblings. Well I wouldn't know since I don't have any." Would ask questions about you and kurapika.

Was shocked af when you had shown off your skills. Didn't necessarily think you were really weak but didn't think you were this strong.

After whatever you did he would praise you and stay stuff like "wow! Y/n I didn't think you were that strong! That was so cool!"

Would stop worrying about you a little less. Now knowing that if you were ever in danger and there was no one, you would definitely be able to protect yourself. (Let's hope whatever you're fighting against isn't too strong.)

Killua

Probably acted kind of a jerk to you the first few times.

But then after a while seeing that you weren't all that bad he started loosening up a bit. And then eventually you became friends with him.

Would've thought you were weak if it weren't for that zoldyck blood in which he sensed something far stronger within you.

Still even so he still thought you were nowhere near as strong as him. And overtime he started to become a little protective of you.

"Y/n you can speak!?" Killua bonked gon on the head.

Doesn't mind your quietness. He prefers it, he likes how energetic gon is but he also wants someone he can vibe peacefully quiet with.

He's kinda jealous of your closeness with kurapika. At first he thought that younger siblings could never get along with their older ones but clearly you and kurapika proved him wrong. He wishes he and illumi could have a healthier relationship sometimes.

If he's feeling especially silly and happy he might try to separate you from your older brother's hip and get to hang out with him instead during free time.

Killua's not shy, just self reserved. Even so he can understand most of your behaviors.

Wasn't that surprised when you had shown how capable you were when you had to fight against an enemy. Though it doesn't necessarily change his opinion on you. He feels a little more at ease.

"Why don't you hang out with me and gon for a little while?"

Leorio

You're like the little sister he never had.

Didn't really pay you much mind as you never really did anything outstanding for the majority of the exam but as he spent more time in your presence the more he started appreciating you.

You grew on him quick, he's now also your older brother.

Because of your pretty introverted nature he felt quite obligated to be at your side a lot.

Will almost cry if you want to spend time with him, he's never been this happy before. Although in the hunter exam the amount of things you can do is pretty limited.

You're somewhere without kurapika and someone goes out of their way to talk smack in front of you? Don't worry you'll see leorio sprinting towards the person in a very loud and aggressive voice.

"HEY WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST SAY!?"

Since leorio is more in his delusions most of the time he'll think of you as kinda pretty weak. Don't get him wrong it's not like he'll force it on you, he just feels like he needs to help out in stuff mostly.

Around kurapika alot so that also means he's around you alot, it's a win win. You get two protective and older sibling figures by your side.

Jaw dropped. It dropped to the ground and 5 feet more under. Now he feels kinda bad and embarrassed he thought of you as something that needed help with.

Still tries to help you as much as he can when you're about to be fighting with someone.

He tries to look calm even though he made a dumb expression earlier. Although he does hold a proud smile.

"You were really cool..!"

Kurapika

Kurapika doesn't mind it when you seem to cling to him 24/7. In fact he likes it. As in he feels more at ease when you're in his line of sight. Being the two sole survivors of your clan it's really no wonder.

Of course this without a doubt forms an inseparable and unbreakable bond and trust.

Your older brother was the only person you could comfortably be alone with until the hunter exam. It took kurapika by surprise when you actually decided to hang out with someone other than him. It's not like he hates it but he feels a little uneasy, something you've had your entire life suddenly being away from you is something not so many people can be okay with.

He warms up to the idea eventually though. In fact he does enjoy seeing you interacting with other people. Seeing you by yourself without him with gon, killua and leorio and others sends a melancholy wave of pride through him.

He encourages you to spend more time with your now called new friends.

He wants you to spend a bit more time being independent before he goes away for something which he never told you about or plans to ever tell you about. (Ehem.. Revenge)

Knows you are fully capable of stuff but it doesn't stop him from feeling obligated to do something for you.

Anyone who brings slander to your name in front of him must be a real hell of an idiot.

Not surprised at all like killua after you leashed your skills fighting a random monster or opponent or something. He already knows after all he was the one who taught you everything you knew about anything really.

In the past, I've come up with fan designs for Cortex's family. Three of my favorite designs - the only ones I really like currently, honestly - are for three of Cortex's older siblings (I drew these in 2019):

On the top we have Max Cortex, who is the one member of Cortex's family who resembles him most. He's supposedly Nina's dad, but he's a colossal deadbeat and very self-absorbed. He's also extremely gay, and supposedly only had Nina so that his mother, Sharon Cortex, would stop hounding him for grandchildren. However, there's more to Nina's origins than meets the eye... Max is currently not on speaking terms with Sharon, and he only speaks to Neo when he actually feels like visiting Nina.

Mia Cortex is loosely based on Undyne from Undertale. She's a lesbian with a missing eye, having lost it when Neo set off fireworks in the circus tent when they were kids. (She is three years older than Neo.) She used to be a massive bully when she was younger, but after losing her eye and almost dying, she became a nicer person. She currently works as a gym teacher... and yes, she's been known to bench press several children at one! Mia used to call Neo a nerd as an insult, but now she calls him that as more of a loving tease. Dr. Cortex hates it.

Zoe Cortex is loosely based on G4 Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony. Despite her experiences in the circus, Zoe is still very much a circus clown at heart. She works as a party planner and decorator, but when she's not doing that, she volunteers at children's hospitals as Polka Dotty the Clown. Just like Pinkie Pie, Zoe is a very happy and positive person who loves making people smile. However, when she was a child, she was just as mean and nasty to Neo as her other siblings. She genuinely regrets it to this day.

I guess I've been thinking about these three because I genuinely do wonder how they would get along with the members of Cortex's family invented for that cancelled Crash 5 game. I can SOOOOO see Max getting annoyed with Hugh G. Cortex for being an egotistical meathead... Hugh would probably mock Max for being just as short and small as Neo. And then Max would probably try to kill Hugh because he is that petty. XD

god, if you didn't love Jake as much as you do, you'd hate to be staring up at this poster right now. it all feels so boyish--like finding a porn magazine tucked under his mattress or a peculiarly stiff sock. but you know that he keeps the poster on the ceiling because he genuinely loved the movie--dragged you to it four times--and likes to say, "good morning, angels." when he wakes up, much to his roommates annoyance.

if you went back in time and told your pre-teen self that you'd lose your virginity in a stuffy dorm room in the middle of Christmas break, tangled in Crate and Barrel sheets, beneath a Charlie's Angels poster, you think that the younger version of yourself would pepper spray you.

here you are, though.

but then you're scoffing and looking back at him with a grin.

Jake's only saying this because he's afraid of giving his honest review--which is dropping to his knees and bowing down to you.

"I raise your good and give you impeccable," Jake says, even including jazz hands. "like, mind-blowing."

But that he is pretty strong, so I think he could be in the Ars Goetia AND IN PART BECAUSE HE IS BIRB TOO kekekeke these ideas are just for fun ofc xD But I can also see him being an Overlord!

I will be drawing Neuro and Stolas together next! Cause...birbs!!!! Thoughts on the Omori Manga

I was kind of generous with it, but overall? Mixed feelings, leaning toward negative. This is just the first chapter tho so who knows?

The Art: eh?

The scary parts are drawn well and there are some panels I quite like (the 2 below for example), but otherwise it often looks a little awkward/uncanny??

A big thing is, I think Sunny shouldve been drawn less expressive. He often looks a bit too... happy? Like its fine to draw him horrified and such when he's Going Through It, but he's drawn with those little white pupils a lot at the beginning, which make him look a lot like his younger, more carefree self

I think for the most part, he should've just been drawn like this:

It captures his vibe of Tired/Out of it/Depressed, much better

The Manga's Approach to the Story: not good for people new to Omori (imo), but has potential for an interesting retelling for previous fans

It was quite strange to start with the Real World rather than Headspace, but it could turn out interesting. It will definitely miss the impact of the game's storytelling, but they may still be able to make an enjoyable enough story out of it, yknow?

Doing it this way allows them to emphasize different things than the game. Like the battle with Aubrey, for example. It was so good in game since the player was so used to casually slicing away enemies with the knife, and the Aubrey battle served as a shocking wake up call. You can't knife people in real life like that! But I think no matter what. this couldn't have hit as hard in the manga regardless of if they did headspace first.

But what they did do in the manga was better emphasize Sunny's actual action of slicing Aubrey! Like Basil and Kel are appropriately alarmed and horrified that Sunny has just pulled a knife from nowhere and (quite badly) sliced their old friend with it.

I do, however, think they made it look way too deliberate on Sunny's part.

Like in game, it was more a mistake, while in the manga they seem to be going for Sunny being Extremely Traumatized and just lashing out, but then they portray it like this??

Like, maybe if they had Aubrey actually go after him with her nail bat while she was saying those cruel things, him drawing the knife would have looked more instinctual and a mistake. Here it just looks like he's ready to stab her in cold blood :/

The ending is sort of interesting tho. It does a fine job of showing how headspace is a sort of coping mechanism before we even see it, by having Sunny retreat there after slicing Aubrey.

Overall, I think there is potential in doing Realworld first, Headspace second, but I think it does miss out on a ton of the game's original impact and storytelling

Finally, Aubrey (tm): hot take maybe, but I lowkey like how she was portrayed?

Like, dont get me wrong, she was quite violent and it hurt seeing her legit hit basil with a nail bat, but it sort of works? in my opinion at least.

Shes been hurting for so long and she directs that hurt towards her old friends, and combined with her more aggressive personality, it doesn't seem too wildly out of character i think.

Plus, itll add some good Angst when she gets her moment with the gang and realizes how she's been acting. Like, girl, you are gonna feel sooooo bad for how you treated Basil and what u said to Sunny (character development!)

And it really helps that when she falls to the ground after getting sliced, pictures of Mari fall out of her pocket. It helps signal to the reader that Aubrey isn't just some horrible cruel person, but that there's something more at play

And the way she's collapsed almost looks like she could've collapsed out of grief, or is bowing deeply, and implies she's really hurting. Somehow they did Sunny so dirty with him standing over her with the knife, yet did so well with this Aubrey panel.

I think I just like the portrayal of someone who is very flawed in their grief without being some Big Evil Bad Guy, yknow. Like no, this is a hurting teenager lashing out and making mistakes.

Kotoko really said in that voice drama if it wasn't for Kazui interferring and Mikoto taking so long to fight she would have jumped that kid. She has always and will forever be about it. When she said remember that she meant that shit.

This is the perfect example of the phrase when people tell you who they are believe them.

Don't give them a defense, don't say you're probably overexagerating, you probably have poor self-esteem. We can unpack that after taking they asses at face value. In order to fix an issue one first has to accepts an issue exists.

Definitely puts all those injured children throughout Harrow in a new light. Especially given her focus in the voice drama of others not being able to do what it takes to actually implement change. People were really like it can't be that bad and Kotoko barged in cd drop like,

It's been amazing because she came in last part of trial two and really gave the audience and Es a kick to the face for all our behavior up until now. Like it's the biggest fuck all of you of trial two. Honestly she kept hitting she did not miss. Not one fucking time. She held that mirror up and shouted at that bitch until it cracked.

I was not expecting to come out of her voice drama like well now hold on she's a bit wild, a tad unhigned, definitely unforgivable to some, but um she's speaking some truths. There's some truths there that a lot of people who participate in Milgram are not going to like to hear but need to hear regardless.

It was so satisfying to see. Especially after everything this trial. It was just perfect actually after everything we've been through and the logic we've all seen. That- Yeah we deserve to get to sit with that for a bit.

been thinking about your thoughts on book lovers since ur blog became emily henry discourse night. i’m someone that likes emily henry books but i think the issue is the stories she’s telling are like litfic or women’s fiction stories but then she has to like fit them into a romance novel. so like book lovers is this really tender story about the like trauma of grief and having to raise your younger sibling and like shaping your life and career around that to the point of unhappiness, even years after that shaping became unnecessary, shoved into this little teehee premise of like wouldn’t it be so silly if the heartless big city other woman from the hallmark movie got a small town romance teehee. and i’m not opposed to a romantic subplot OR a flat out romance novel but in book lovers the romance unfolds in these weird almost gimmicky ways around the heart of the story which is the sisters. so then it becomes like hey why are you here. about the romance. in the romance novel. anyway sorry about this i just couldn’t get it out of my head or figure out how to articulate my thoughts about it until now. all love<3

i agree! in both of the books i’ve read of hers (book lovers and happy place) i think she has very compelling main characters. (in happy place i felt genuinely moved by the main characters pov and her problems with her parents. and in book lovers i really had high hopes for the way her character was described before the execution killed it) BUT then the romance doesn’t have the same draw. and isn’t incorporated into the book in a way for the connection OR the tension to land. (happy place was a bit better than book lovers tho) if it was chic lit or the romance was a subplot it would be different. but the issue with emily henry is her books ARE romance novels at the end of the day. so when the romance falls flat…the parts that are admittedly done well can’t really make up for that. -for me at least!

also i think another thing is her main characters are very interesting but No other character truly is. including the love interest. which is what truly hurts any sort of connection. like i have read and watched sooooo much mediocre NONSENSE (i’m self aware) that i have a drive to want better for bc the interpersonal relationships in them just /slap that Hard/. but in emily henry’s books that concept is nonexistent. every relationship you see play out on screen, including the friendships (looking at happy place) do not pack a punch. at all. they never have me on the edge of my seat hoping for a resolution or happily ever after or whatever

which is why these books don’t even make me mad when they’re not good. bc i don’t Care about any relationship to be like i wish this was better </3 they deserved more </33. i’m just perplexed by why these books keep getting lauded as the pinnacle of contemporary romance. when they are Nothing of the sort

• reads whenever he's free. He likes any kind of book but, his favorites will always be love stories and poetry.

hey, just came here to tell you that i'm so so relieved that i was able to find your blog again !! and your jane eyre au fanfic with silco !! honestly, 'bend but not break' was (and still pretty much is) one of my favourite fanfics ever; not aus or silco fanfics, i mean one of THE best fanfics i've ever read. cannot even begin to describe how sad i was when i lost the ao3 link, and when i wasn't able to remember your blog's url.

and it was a shame, because BBNB was just *chef's kiss* 🤌. i literally stayed awake until sunrise reading it the first time, already getting inpatient for the next chapter. and i think it's mainly because you capture silco so so well, and you get 'jane eyre'; and you capture the dreadful air of the novel, and those little acts of tenderness and romance... and your smut it's quite great too. like, i still can't get over The Opera chapter, even after all this time 👀👀

I am so very humbled. You have no idea. I'm still learning as a writer, and I am my own worst critic.

I'm sorry I haven't been online to respond to this earlier because I've been really sick with the flu and binge watching Poldark (again).

I've been technically writing fiction since 2015 and it's been a learning curve with each story. For some odd reason, historical eras seem to fit my style in writing. I can do modern but this era I feel like I can sink my teeth into it.

I'm a huge fan of gothic horror/suspense/romance. So, yeah, I guess you can see that in the choices I make.

I must admit I'm not all together happy with the last chapter of BBNB, I might want to change some things in that chapter before moving on (maybe because it might meld into the next chapter better? idk).

Even though I have approximately 5-6 chapters (depending on how big the chapters get, I'm terrible about posting novel-length chapters) left in Bend, it should be an emotional rollercoaster. There are soooo many things I have left to run with before it ends.

As of the lastest chapter, I'm deviating from Jane Eyre a bit, while still holding onto certain plot-points for context but I want to play more with the Regency Arcane/Silco's world.

I do have other ideas for Silco stories I want to write. One will deal with a younger, hot-head SIlco. Another I'm tempted to play with a Roaring 20's Underground.

Then I have a story that I'm developing into an original gothic novel. I have maybe too much on my plate. LOL

It's moments like this when I wish I didn't have to 'work' a regular job to pay the bills because I would literally write all day, every day.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you sending me this. It really does brighten my day. That may sound cliche, but it does. I admit I don't have the greatest self-esteem, but I'm working on it.

That someone likes something I've written that much to comment at all and tell me they're re-reading it... my heart is going to explode.

I am working on both Regency Silco stories. When my head doesn't feel like a fog-horn inside of a 100lb bowling ball, I should be in a better space to be creative. It's zapped when you feel exhausted. Working 60hr weeks lately probably hasn't helped my health any.

sooooo many things…..

First of all, that you don’t always have to make everyone happy - your own feelings also matter

Secondly, just because someone says you are overweight when you are clearly not does not mean you habe to change anything about yourself

Thirdly, in your life you will lose friends but also find new ones, that is just how life is…

Fourth, just because someone says you are boring it does not mean you are, people just like different things

Fifth, life has many downs but also just as many ups - you have to appreciate and enjoy every day, thanking the good people in your life and be grateful for what you have

And sixth, breaking up after a one day relationship is not really a heardbreak (this goes out to my 11 year old self…)

frost— oh this is a hard one! to my childhood self I would probably tell her that the people who don’t want to be her friend aren’t worth the time anyway. keep reading and learn more from your grandma while she’s around and your mom before her brain betrays her. To my adolescent self I would say get help. You are worth the vulnerability it will take to get help. Also you have adhd lol. (That got a little deep oops 😅)

spice— I don’t recall any houses, but the dance studio I spent my whole childhood in had an upstairs and there were definitely ghosts that lived up there. they were friendly ones though! My dance teacher had sooooo many stories about them

Cocoa— okay I’m actually having a sort of hair crisis right now so this one is appropriate. First I would figure out what type of hair I actually have because right now there are super tight ringlets around my hairline and then long vaguely straight and wavy hair. I just wanna figure out what’s supposed to be there y’know? But beyond that I would love to have the natural hair color I had when I was around 5-7 because it was brown but also had golden blonde highlights that complimented it all so nicely!

Gosh, that's a long one. Here's the pipeline:

I think my lesbian phase was mostly because I didn't realize I was trans yet so my attraction towards men felt... weird to me, that's the best way to say it.
