Boku no Itoshii Youkai Girlfriend / My Yokai Girlfriend (Mar 2024)

Set in Kyoto, where an otaku (Sano Hayato) encounters a mysterious Yokai (Yoshikawa Ai) who is drawn and bonded to him through a magical hex. He soon discovers that she is actually hunting a human family for vengeance over an incident 500 years ago.

Can't find the official website to know the true plot for certain but I'm guessing she has to rely on him to survive (maybe he has the bloodline of his ancestor, something happened 500 years ago). It's like if he dies, she dies too, that's why she has to protect him.

Can't wait to watch it. I like these "time travel" sort of genre. It takes place in Kyoto and it also stars Sorimachi Takashi! What's not to like?

anyway i watched ep 1 of my diary yesterday, and then immediately went and rewatched all of my undead yokai girlfriend. and it was just. so ... strange ... to see sano hayato play hiromi in my diary that's such a calmer, more chilled out character? he's still anxious and shy, just like hachi in my undead yokai girlfriend and gaku in trillion game, but unlike how hachi and gaku are just .... erratic and feel as though their thoughts are pacing and racing at 200 miles per hour and are just so Chaotic, hiromi is soooooo much more controlled and measured. and idk i just. feel like. sano hayato as an actor should reeeeeally be appreciated more! he's a fabulous camera magnet that just pulls you in when you see him on screen. and now i cannot wait to see gaku again in the trillion game movie next year!

Hear Me Out

Yokai Amity. What are yokai? Japanese spirits. And not just ghosts, a majority of mythical creatures? Yokai.

So how did this happen? Well, like most things, it can be blamed on the ghost portal in the Fenton Basement. And a lot of ecto contamination. Because while they're a small city? They're also in the middle of nowhere, meaning a lot of their foods and crops, they grow themselves. And the ectoplasm? Started sinking into the ground first. Y'know, where every plant grows and then both humans and animals proceed to eat it? Made even worse when those like Overgrowth or Vortex came through? Yeaah, it'd be a miracle if they didn't get contaminated and no surprise that most don't notice their humanity slipping with time with how it's happening to everyone.

Which kind of makes the situation Danny has found himself kind of hilarious? At least to him. The trenchcoat dude seems to be having an aneurism or something similar.

"So... not a meta?" the tiny vigilante child clarified again, head tilting from where he stood at the head of his group. Honestly Danny was enjoying this from his place sprawled across the park bench Honestly Amity had spoiled him with benches designed for extra limbs.

The blonde man seemed absolutely done with everything, hands twitching as though about to cradle his head in his hands or grab something. "No," he wasn't shouting but it was close. "For fuck's sake- your all lucky not to be cursed or worse-" He turned towards Danny. "Why the fuck didn't you?"

The hainu shrugged, wings doing more of the motion than the rest of him. "They're babies-" Or at least one of them was, borderline liminal as they were. "You play along with toddlers." Honestly he saw why his old rogues found this fun, even if he'd never go as far as they did.

The entire team of vigilante children bristled, one opening their mouth to protest before trenchcoat-soul-dude glared at them all before turning back towards him.

"Though what the fuck do you need that for that you'd steal it- not that any artifact like that should be in a bloody museum and not locked away where idiots can't get to it."

He snorted, the sound more dog-like. Or really more yeti-like, what with how he was taking lessons from Frostbite which meant large chunks of time in the Far Frozen.

"Technically I don't need it, my kid does," Danny held up a finger, marveling slightly at the clouds. It was quite different compared to Amity, what with how everywhere was so ecto-infused that the sky was effected.

"And what does a hainu need with-" the trenchcoat man motioned to the cursed object, which honestly wasn't that bad. But...

"Oh no, he's not a hainu, he's furaribi." Danny honestly wasn't surprised that Jordan wouldn't turn out the same as he, de-aged or not. Not that he was memory-less or anything, cores didn't lose that easily, but he did still have the physical brain of a child.

"Adopted?"

"Nope," he hummed, going over the list of things he still had to do today before returning to Amity. Sam had asked him to get a few more flowers to test how ecto would effect them and he had to pick up some computer parts for Tuck.

"How the fuck."

"My sister's a kitsune, my other sister is a shirouneri, my mom is a shishi, my dad a baku, godfather's an itachi, my boyfriend a raiju, my girlfriend a kirin, and my other girlfriend a yosuzume," he ticked off his fingers, not seeing anything wrong with it. Not like people could get into Amity easily after the whole GIW thing.

"... what the fuck does your family tree look like, mate, because that should be bloody impossible."

Danny shrugged, giving a sharp toothed smile. Yeah, the realms didn't care about that with how malleable ecto was.

He didn't even have to do anything, all he had to do was look at you with those eyes of his, and you're compelled.

Does that mean he's some sort of vampire instead? You had no clue. All you knew was he was some sort of mythical thing - he had to be - and you'd drown in those sweet inky pools of - god, what was that colour? You didn't know how to describe, and you obviously couldn't stare until you do, he'd notice. But his eyes were so beautiful, so warm and you sink right into that warmth all at once and-

Ahh. Sink. Siren.

You grin, folding your hands in the form of the little window you had came across a few days ago while scrolling your feed. The fox window.

With that small window you made, you look around the place through it as if it was a camera with a filter - the trees, the sky, the birds and the empty convenience store front, then at him.

"What are you doing?" asks Ken, his head tilted to get a better view of you.

"Oh, ya know," you start with a grin, unfolding your fingers and giving him a boxy smile. "Fox window," you say and shrug.

He chuckles, giving you that smile and that laugh, god, that made him eyes sparkle even more. He looks at you, a brow raised, dark eyes gleaming under the light. "I doubt there are any kitsunes here."

"Hmm. I was looking at you."

"Me?" He asks, pointing at himself with a confused grin.

"Yeah. You," you say and grin at him again. Near him, smiling feels so easy, as easy as breathing. And goodness, you must look like a fool but it felt so good.

"Cause you look so pretty," you say as you lean in, "I thought you were some kind of mystical creature that came to mystify people."

Me, you wanted to say. You've bewitched me.

Kenji looks away, eyes shifty and an abashed look on his face as he clears his throat awkwardly.

Oh, so the greatest baseball player with an ego the size of a whale blushes at this single compliment.

IM SO GLAD YOU LOVE HER EEEEEE I HOPE I CAN GIVE YOU GOOD ANSWERS (also while I designed her specifically for the shark au I might just say shed be the same in my regular universe headcanon so like it all applies across aus I guess hahaha who knows she and frida might even be friends honestly)

-So something I learned when browsing through the twitter q and a’s is that there are hidden cities at every big city around the world, but they aren’t all underground. They didn’t go into it but they’re all hidden in different ways. Idk where specifically but Mona is from a different city and one of their sports is gladiatorial fighting and she was very good. So she decided to move to New York and go pro. Right now she’s getting free housing and food from the Hotel plus other benefits as she does fights at the Nexus. She thinks of Big Mama as just a sorta weird boss, but overall okay. She doesn’t know that Mama is just playing her and would not let her leave easily if she ever tried but she’ll find that out eventually.

-Well for starters, she and Raph start dating pretty soon due to the boys (minus Leo) setting them up. As a couple, they’re very sporty/ lovey-dovey power couple. They equally like doing active competitive stuff as well as watching movies together. They’re pretty similar while Mona is a little more strategic and thoughtful where Raph isn’t, and Raph is more understanding and caring where Mona isn’t. Teehee I love em

She and Donnie are chill. He takes it upon himself at first to be the stern “you better not break my son’s brother’s heart” (even though he did the majority of the work to set them up, he’s just dramatic) then he’s sort of a wingman for them both to each other? Like he thinks of himself as a bit of an expert at the science of love and they let him have his fun. Mona’s sense of humor is light bullying, so once Donnie gets over his wingman phase they just go back and forth with the most unserious insults whenever they see each other. Like casual name calling as greeting (“Hey, Forehead.” “Greetings, Bearded Lady.” Idk something like that I’m not creative)

She and Mikey are good buds. He third wheels a lot so they get to know each other pretty well. Mona is an eldest child so she’s used to having that little sibling presence and they bounce off of each other well. It’s sort of a “Mona jokingly challenges that he can do something and after a bunch of shenanigans they prove he can do the thing.”

She and Leo were kind of iffy at first. Leo finds love disgusting so when Donnie and Mike were trying to set up Raph, Leo was standing to the side making remarks and giving reasons why Mona wouldn’t be a good fit for Raph (she was trying to steal his color). Once he accepted that she was gonna be around and was more relaxed about her, they started having fun. She’s used to be a Jupiter Jim fan but hadn’t watched it in a while so Leo was more than happy to infodump at her and drag her into an intense movie marathon. They would also do the light bullying thing but also they team up and direct it at Donnie.

Splinter’s happy his sons are integrating in some way with other yokai. But the fact that one of his boys has a girlfriend? Now that’s all he could hope for. He’s very nice and chill towards her and is more of an accidentally embarrassing dad to Raph. They try not to bring up her current employment around him tho…

April is grateful to have another girl around. They both are pretty passionate people so they do fun stuff together. Mona’s pretty down for all the adventures and weird stuff involved so they go adventure together, probably to witch town specifically (with a disguise for April and leaving Don at home).
