Day Ninety-One

My male colleagues had all the jokes this morning about being classified as female thanks to one of the President's executive orders. Obviously, I'm the one they chose to share said jokes with, so that was quite a way to start the day.

It was a lot less goofy after that, but it was still a good time. My Global Studies students finished watching the video on World War I that they'd started yesterday. We discussed it afterwards, of course. I went over the questions I'd had them answer, then fielded any additional questions they had. I teed up the next lesson, which will be about the aftermath of the war, just before the bell. It was solid.

My APGOV students had what I jokingly referred to as a "choose your own adventure" day. It's the second to last day of class. Most of them worked on their final projects, some had make-up work to do, some wanted to retake their last test. I left it up to them to decide how to use the time.

The fact that its been a year since i first watched TOH feels fake-

idk i vividly remember sitting in my dorm room procrastinating all my assignments because i was just so invested i couldn't imagine doing anything else until i finished this show

and i got so invested so quickly which hasn't happened with a show in so long but i found it so easy to get invested in the characters, the relationships and the story

I have a lot i could say but alas my brain refuses to let it happen

I wish i watched it sooner but I'm glad that i watched it at all, Lumity is incredibly important to me and I'm so happy a ship like them exists in media today, they are just so sweet and well written, I love all the sweet platonic and found family relationships we get.

This show deserved better, I have so much respect for the crew for making season three as engaging and as good as it is especially considering they had to keep it to 2 and a half hours, but it deserved to have a full season.

Anyway TOH is a good show and I’ve met the coolest people bc of it, this show deserves the hype it gets, it’s a beautiful show and I’m thankful to Dana and the crew for creating it <3

i've decided to mod cyberpunk *more* and get some clothes and cyberware options. so of course i've decided to do it two days after a big patch. and of course the list of additional mods to make it all work is huge. and of course i've installed a bunch of them only to get to the last one and see that that one *specifically* isn't updated and is causing crashes now. so i can't play cyberpunk at all until this one mod updates.

Day Forty-Three

My day did not start out very well, but when news breaks over the weekend that one of your former students has been arrested for crimes involving your current students, well, that's to be expected. Thankfully, The Superintendent was able to notify all the district families before the press got hold of the story. And, today, the Principal sent an email to our students and staff as a follow-up. He also got on the intercom after the morning announcements to address the issue.

I had to talk to two of the students in my advisory about their response to that, and their behavior didn't really improve from there, which was stressful. My classes were good, though. Everyone came in with a positive attitude, did the work, it all went super smoothly. I'd been bracing for it to be very different, so that was a relief.

My Global Studies students read an article about Islam and used it to add to the charts they've been making to compare and contrast the "big three" monotheistic religions. Then they did a bit of research on the Five Pillars of Islam, which we'll go over to start the next lesson. It's one of the many simple yet effective lessons I've got in my repertoire, and I was happy students found it engaging. I hardly had to do any redirecting- just pointed them in the right direction to find information here and there- and the timing was darn near perfect.

Also perfect: the APGOV lesson I did on presidential campaigns and elections. I knew I'd get a bunch of questions, so I purposefully left room for them; most were about the electoral college, but I also got quite a few about caucusing and about party conventions. I had to Google a handful of the answers because I didn't know them off the top of my head, but that's fine. Students had just enough time, when the discussion wrapped, to vote in the PBS NH mock election. They got stickers for voting, and if you're thinking juniors and seniors are too old to be excited about stickers, well, you would be wrong!
