Atsushi had never had any complaints about how quick his injuries disappeared after his ability awakened, quite the opposite. But right now, as Chûya walked in on him still not being fully healed, he sort of wished the pace was actually quicker.

Or that, at least, he hadn’t found him so soon.

“I mean, I’m fine so it’s okay--” Of course, that wasn’t going to appease Chûya in the slightest, and his furrowed brow only deepening was more than enough evidence.

“No, it’s not okay. Not when I feel like I’m going to go batshit fucking crazy, thinking you’ve hurt yourself.” Atsushi could point out how Chûya wasn’t exactly innocent of doing the same, but it wouldn’t be the best response, actually. Nor fair, either; after all, he calculated the risks and planned ahead in ways Atsushi himself didn’t.

Besides, after a life of mistreatment without anyone who expressed concern or offered comfort, he didn’t have the heart to turn down those who now did.

“You’re right.” That was true, too.

“I’m right with what?” Chûya asked, with the same tone one would slightly scold a work subordinate, or a partner in any sense of the way… And his cheeks started to light up a little, and not because of embarrassment.

“Just ‘cause I heal fast as fuck doesn’t mean I should be reckless like that.” He said, to which Chûya nodded.

“Good boy.”

Both briefly froze after such a comment, likely taking in the implications of said words.

Not sure if you've talked about this before, but what's your opinion on chuuatsu as a romantic and platonic pairing? I've been craving other opinions on this :))

Alrrr, funnily enough, I had shipped Chuuatsu BEFORE I was convinced to ship Dazatsu (I say convinced because I shift the blame to my dear friend, who kept filling my head with ideas about them), so I enjoy this ship QUITE A LOT.

I am a firm believer that Chuuya's and Atsushi's relationship would be a bit of a mess, chaotic, and it's definitely NOT an instant click. And all that is exactly the reason why it works so well. Like, to be fully real, they would NOT get along at first. Chuuya is brash and absolutely doesn't sugarcoat anything, and Atsushi is quiet and self-conscious, but nonetheless has moments of clarity where he would snap back. Even looking at the relationship between him and Akutagawa, you can tell Atsushi wouldn't take anything Chuuya says to him lying down. And that's exactly the kicker: Atsushi isn’t just some timid kid who lets himself be walked over. He’d only put up with Chuuya’s attitude for so long before throwing out some sass of his own.

They would naturally clash, but they also balance each other out in ways they don’t immediately realize. Chuuya’s brashness would force Atsushi to stand up for himself, show his own confidence, and push back against being underestimated (as he’s shown that, however unconfident he might be, he’s willing to do stuff out of spite). And Atsushi’s kindness (his genuine belief in doing what’s right and helping others) would chip away at Chuuya’s tough exterior. It wouldn’t happen all at once, though. It’d take time for them to see beyond their initial impressions of one another.

But what REALLY pulls them together, in my opinion, would be their shared trauma. Both of them have been through so much (Atsushi with the orphanage, years of being told he’s worthless, and Chuuya with the betrayal of the people he trusted most and the weight of being treated like a tool rather than a person). They both would recognize the other’s pain, even if they don’t talk about it openly. Chuuya’s not the type to bare his soul (AND definitely not after he lost so many people. A Cartwright Curse if you must), and Atsushi would hesitate as well because of his own insecurities. But when you've been through the kind of hell that they've been through, sometimes you just don’t need to say anything. There’s just this unspoken understanding between them.

And maybe in exactly those moments, the facade would start to break. Chuuya might stop pretending he's invincible (as many fans don’t realize that Chuuya’s brash, overconfident personality is just an act he puts on to hide his own insecurities), letting Atsushi see the cracks in his guard. Maybe he lets slip how much it weighs on him to have something like Arahabaki in him, or how exhausting it must be to put the mafia above himself constantly (of course, it wouldn’t be worded as such, since Chuuya fully believes he's not worth much, if anything at all). And Atsushi? Atsushi would stop trying to hide how much he doubts himself, how he is always fighting to believe he has value too. Both confiding fully in one another, because who’s better to understand him if not another broken soul?

Their relationship isn’t about FIXING each other, but about supporting one another. Chuuya wouldn’t try to “fix” Atsushi’s self-doubt, but rather remind him in his own blunt way of how strong and capable the other is. And Atsushi wouldn’t push Chuuya to be vulnerable, but he’d offer his presence that lets Chuuya know he doesn’t have to carry everything by himself.

tsurumahi: the moment it took two whole pages to show them holding hand i literally got down bad for them. headcanon that mahiru used his part-time money to hire tsurugi into learning how to cook from him. also mahiru's curry sometimes make tsurugi mentally regresses into a young child back when mahiru's mother would cook for him and touma.

chuuni3sloth pair: a ship born from the fact you chuuni3 AND sloth pair comes in a package. when he finds out tsurugi is in love with mahiru, yumi pulls jun aside and says "you know what we have to do" and jun is like "hide the truth from tooru-san" and yumi, with horror, yells at jun "NO?! TALK HIM OUT OF IT" only to end up dragged into falling for sloth pair too

yumimahi: another ship born from tsurumahi. despite being the sensible one who tried to pull away from mahiru at first he ends up being the pervert who enjoys teaching kink and fetishes to mahiru. his taste is bad, by the way.

mahikuni: god i want mikuni to get elpis'd so bad.

lisono: their lack of content in canon makes me want to make so much stuff for them, especially when the guidebook makes it clear there are a lot of things left unsaid regarding lily's character

my top 5 bsd ships are:

Dazatsu: my very first bsd ship and holds a dear place in my heart. I don't think people will realize that though because I always make them breakup or fight which makes me look like a Hater. I think fighting will do them good. It will show no matter how hard he tries to push Atsushi away he will never let Dazai win be alone

Chuuatsu: I feel like Chuuya is the type who easily cares for others but he's tsundere about it. I want Atsushi to be taken as a collateral by Mori after DOA arc is done as a way to punish Dazai and Yosano for leaving his side and for Chuuya to take Atsushi under his wings only to realize Atsushi is in a similar situation he was in when he first joined Port Mafia

Shibuatsu: uhhh yeah I love yandere but especially if theyre pathetic. I want the govt to keep Shibusawa's skull and summon him to help with their investigation and he is ready to help as long as Atsushi kill him in the end <3

Fukufuku: I LOOOOOVE DOOMED YAOI that scene where fukuzawa admitted he accepted stolen snack from fukuchi is just chef's kiss. I'm gonna write them experiencing worse tragedy in Stray Gods. also most importantly fukuchi is straight and he doesn't know fukuzawa has a crush on him nurtured for years. not only that he also tried to play a matchmaker between fukuzawa and a girl from their hometown.

Odazai: ANOTHER doomed yaoi with one-sided crush from Dazai to Odasaku except not even Dazai realizes he was in love with his best friend. Back before I read "The Day I Picked Dazai Up" I thought Dazai put Odasaku on pedestal like a saint but it seems I was wrong since their first meeting just showcased how Odasaku managed to befriend Dazai by being a complete airhead who went unbothered by Dazai's mind games. He might still have done that after Odasaku died though.

His bird is now a Talon that is very clingy. Works with old Batsy to save his bird. Will sass the bat at any given moment. Ends up with a Violet Ring of Love. So Star Sapphire Wally! (Ben 10 Anodite style powers! Like the hair! The hair was my favorite part of the alien lol) No speedster Wally. He missed the deadline of getting his powers because he was born too late. Isakai: From Young Justice to before the Dc Son of Batman. So Flashpoint Paradox? I don’t know the correct timeline. *shrugs* Wally reappears in the Arctic but in a different universe. Lot darker because of the Flashpoint. He is very confuse but try’s to get around using everything he was taught by the Flashes, the Green Lanterns, Batman and Nightwing growing up. Gets a Job in Gotham because he believes that he’ll have a mental breakdown if he stays in Central or Keystone (the Twin Jewel Cities know by locals- I grew up calling them that and I will not stop). Woks at Wayne’s, meets Dick Greyson which causes heartaches, flirty Dick chasing after the guy will turn him down every time (it drives him mad because Wally is so familiar and being around him make him feel whole) and batclan breaking into his apt. He mets Tim and is shock how bad he is at self care. Horrified at how distant the batfam is. Is very close at throwing hands with Batman and Nightwing. (Can’t throw hands with Dick because he not suppose to know the bat secret.) Taking reference from Wally’s Favorite. The Pink Lantern Wally? Just like the one on top but still a speedster? Birdflash with hard to get Wally and pan disaster Dick.

The Moon And The Ocean Tide -Reincarnation/Regression: SI Oc from my ao3 story My New Life’s Crazy Adventure. I’m take the Oc name Echo and having her rebirth as a Demi Titian of the Moon Titan Selene that isn’t really powerful. Grew up at a round camper that bumps head with Annabeth over how to greet new campers. She goes by Usagi as a teasing nickname by those who watch Sailor Moon, not because she looks like her (she does not look like any of the characters. At all.) but because of her sign. Which looks like the silver-blue dreamworks logo, except with a female figure playing a traditional biwa. (She was also born with the last name Tsukino) Echo is the name she prefers, even though she is named Serenity which also doesn’t help. Percy has regressed into the younger version of himself at the beginning of his story. (More like after his school field trip) He is a jaded, has ptsd and grudge hold college student whose girlfriend broke up with him to focus more on her schooling. (He’s a bit bitter about it because he left his family for her, went on a shit quest for school recommendations and knows she was extremely possessive that fuck over his other relationship.) He played to the script as closely as he could, bypassing his time until he reaches Camp Half-Blood, until the scene on the bridge with Annabeth. Echo, being a fan of Percy/use to have a crush on him (so she says), steps up after his talk with the blonde. Not knowing he has regressed, she offers to show him the Camp Video and explains how the camp works. Percy is lowkey wary and guarded because he’s expecting for every thing to be the same with only him being different. He agrees and Echo is like a puppy as she babbles to the 12yr old about what her home for eleven years is. She also one of the people to actually helps him and talks to him as a person after his mark. (She also sides with Athena in his first war game because he asked her using a ‘I’m a newbie and feel more comfortable with a friend’ and even though she suspects him, she’s weak for him.) When he get his first quest, Annabeth demands to go like the first time but Percy sneers with a ‘He rather go with Echo’. Causing the girl to panic and say ‘No! I refuse to fuck the story!’. This outs her to him, which outs Percy to her. They make a deal that he goes on the quest like the original timeline and she becomes his eyes and ears at camp. DarkPercy. SI character. All books are on her. Refuse to rewrite Percy’s adventures. Slow burn between Percy & Echo?? Echo actually try’s to canon fix-it.

It suddenly occurred to me I never did a Tumblr intro thing. Not that I have to, but I feel like I should.

Anyway, a late hello and nice to meet you to the Tumblrverse. Name's ChaoticQuill. I go by "Quill" on Discord and AO3. My pronouns are she/her, and I am a BSD fanfic-obsessed adult.

I started writing BSD fanfic a little over two years ago. I'm here I guess to see what Tumblr has to offer in terms of fandom stuff. Twitter as a fandom space scares me.

If you follow me, expect brain rot and intolerableness. Lots of it. I'll also occasionally talk about writing in general because it's such a big part of my life.

I mainly write fluff, smut, and angst with a happy ending, both long and short form. My biggest claims to fame (I think) are a café AU that is now longer than the Bible and the abundance of Chuuatsu I have written.

Despite enjoying the "main" BSD ships (SKK, SSKK, Ranpoe, Fukumori), I collect rare pairs like Pokémon cards.

Atsushi packed the last of the gifts in a box and taped it up, taking extra care to mark it in his own little code. He was sure, if someone like Dazai or Ranpo found it, they would know immediately what was there- but as long as it didn’t raise any suspicion and he would remember what it was, he didn’t mind. What hurt worse knowing how many expensive gifts were sitting there, rotting in the back of his closet. However, he didn’t exactly have a lot of reasons to use most of them- no places to wear the expensive clothes, and the shinier objects - was it jewelry? - would definitely prompt a bunch of questions which he was not equipped to answer. How did Chuuya get his address, anyway?

Shaking his head, Atsushi decided he didn’t want to know how a mafia executive would go about getting his personal inspiration. He wondered if all the times Dazai insisted he escort him home were times he knew Chuuya was following. Shivering at the thought, Atsushi couldn’t help but glance out the window, as if he’d be able to see his admirer out there. Who knew? Clearly, Chuuya was a romantic, what with all the gifts he was sending- maybe he’d be standing outside Atsushi’s window with a boombox, throwing pebbles…

Still, receiving all these presents and not doing anything in return seemed wrong. With a sigh, he crawled over to his stash of office supplies and found an old card and a pen, figuring he’d at least write a thank you letter. Tapping the pen against his bottom lip, he tried to figure out where to start.

Dear Nakahara-san,

He stared at the name on the paper, trying to see if it felt wrong to be in correspondence with an enemy. Surprisingly- and concerningly, to Atsushi- he didn’t.

I have received all of your gifts, it seems. I…don’t know what to say. I’m flattered that you seem to think of me so often, and though I’d hate to be rude, I have to request that you stop.

Atsushi stopped for a moment. What did he want to tell Chuuya? Did he want to tell him to cut all contact? Did he want to arrange something else? Sticking his tongue out as he thought, Atsushi tapped the pen more furiously and began bouncing his foot.

I just don’t have many uses for such…elaborate and expensive gifts! I would hate for your money to go to waste on things I won’t use. 

…Besides, I’m…not sure I’d know how to deal with Dazai-san if he confronted me. I know the two of you don’t have the best history…or do I? Either way, it doesn’t seem like he’d be too fond of these arrangements, and I’d hate for things to be tense at work.

Still, thank you. For everything. I’ve gotten some use out of what you’ve given me and it’s all very nice. I hope this letter doesn’t offend you. 

Pausing again, Atsushi looked at the note. How should he sign off? His new relationship - or whatever it was - with Chuuya left a lot unknown for Atsushi. Gritting his teeth, he pressed his pen to the paper again before he could change his mind.

Ive been told many times that my Kins are *very* concerning and I just think its funny lol- Also I didn't share the Atsushi/Akutagawa fic cause its got NSFW stuff in it and I try not to share NSFW fics around too often just incase someones a minor n stuff yknow?? I"m going to come right out and say it: Current arc. It's dragged on so long. Monthly manga don't usually have as aggregious pacing issues, but oh my god. There is no end in sight right now.

“Holy shit.” Chûya said, holding onto him as if he might be at risk of either falling or starting floating otherwise. Though, with how drunk he was, it wouldn’t be surprising at all. “You’re sooo red.” And, funnily enough, such a comment only caused Atsushi’s face to flush even redder. There was no denying it, though; not only had Atsushi drunk his share too (honestly, being in a slightly better state had turned out to be mostly luck), but the kiss had also taken its toll on him. 

In fact, he wasn’t even sure of how his own balance was staying more or less intact given it all. Luck, probably.

“You’re red too.” Atsushi countered, even if that barely counted as such. Besides, despite definitely counting as more drunk than he was, Chûya’s face wasn’t as rosy-colored.

“That’s on you, y’know.” And damn if he didn’t make it seem easier, flirting almost effortlessly, to the point of making him a bit jealous apart from the warmth coming from being the object of those comments. 

Of those compliments.

“I– c’mon, bet you tell that to any guy.” As an attempt to try and be as smooth, that phrase was definitely not fulfilling its purpose. But Chûya laughed, so Atsushi didn’t count it as a total failure either.

“Pfft, no way. Sure, I may’ve said it here and there, ‘kay. But not without meanin’ it, understood?”

Oh, so like, they they can kinda,, Feel them, but painlessly? Assuming I’m understanding correctly- Like, there’s pressure, but it isn’t overwhelming??? I’m sorry I’m very tired and I don’t always understand well asdfghjkl,, But I DO understand that everyone knows Dazai is Dramatic, on and off the stage. It’s just How He Is and it’s hilarious. To be fair, it balances itself out with Oda’s big brother instinct rather well~ (Nyanon, 1/8)

Anyways, rocks are cool and I may or may not not have had a geology phase as a kid,, Also what kinda personality do you think a fusion of Dazai and Atsushi would have? I always think stuff like that is cool and I can’t stop thinking about it,, Especially because their outlooks are so different? Like, constant suicide attempts versus an adoration of the act of living- How do you think that’d work? How would that combine with, like, imploding or something? (Nyanon, 2/8)

Like, they think being alive is great, but they don’t deserve it, because their poor senses of self also fused??? I’m sorry I’m a nerd ignore meee- AND AAAHHH IM GLAD YOU LOVE IT CHUUATSU IS PROBABLY DAMN NEAR TIED WITH DAZATSU FOR ME BECAUSE,, THE POTENTIAL,,, Anyways, I could see Atsushi and Akutagawa being friends here!!! Both because of ages, like you said, but also because they’re seen as the next coming of Chuuya and Dazai so they end up working together a lot. (Nyanon, 3/8)

Of course, without the motivation of “Dazai’s Subordinate” Akutagawa had in canon (and BEAST but that’s another painful story), I think they’d get along much better. As for Dazai,, see I’m very torn because on the one hand I have a darker version of things where he ends up the villain because he goes Full Unhealthy Yandere for the For Atsushi because he’s Interesting and Nice, An seems he rarely gets either of those things, much less both, but. (Nyanon, 4/8)

I also have a fluffier version where they meet be chance, and Dazai doesn’t realize that Atsushi is Chuuya’s “amazingly adorable, better than you could ever do” new apprentice, and Atsushi doesn’t realize that Dazai is Chuuya’s “awful, bandage wasting mackerel that you shouldn’t associate with” partner. Shenanigans ensue when they somehow manage to become friends (and yes, in the version, Dazai is nicer to Akutagawa when he becomes his mentor because. Fluff. (Nyanon, 5/8)

It’s mafia but I want Fluff, damnit). Anyways yeah Chuuya can and will Throw Hands if Dazai so much as suggests anything abusive in Atsushi’s general direction. But, my rambling aside, here’s the next AU Concept: I call it the In the Beginning AU, and in it, Atsushi and one or two others are primordial deities from before their universe really existed? Only for Atsushi to nearly get killed by something that woke up when they started experimenting with their abilities. (Nyanon, 6/8)

Meanwhile, his partner(s) got severely injured, and all of them lost their memories and became human. I’m not certain of too much yet, outside of the primordials being based around the “Who/What/Where/When/Why” and the Bad Thing being the “How.” What they’re called, however, is more along the lines of “Us/This/Here/Now,” though I haven’t figured out the equivalent for Why and How yet... I’m tired hush. Anyways, some of the associations are cemented. (Nyanon, 7/8)

11. Things you said when you were drunk // Chuuatsu

Atsushi tried to stop his boyfriend from drinking too much but unfortunately, he didn’t succeed so now he had to carry his drunk lover home.

Normally, Chuuya could handle his liquor quite well but to the misfortune of the weretiger, that day Dazai didn’t have any missions, which is why he decided to tag along on Atsushi’s usual visit to his boyfriend. Of course, Atsushi tried to stop his mentor from coming with him but that man was a pest sometimes (most times, actually), so he somehow managed to ignore any reasonable requests Atsushi made and went with him. 

Chuuya took on look at Dazai and sighed, told Dazai to fuck off, and then reassured Atsushi that it wasn’t his fault that, “The bastard is a pain in the ass.”

Naturally, Dazai chose to do the opposite of what the couple asked of him and stayed there to annoy his former partner further. 

The mafioso tried his best to ignore his former partner until they passed by a bar. Then Dazai and he fought for a bit and walked into the bar to get beyond-stress-levels drunk whilst the weretiger tried to stop them and failed. At some point, Dazai vanished into thin air, leaving Atsushi with his lover alone.

His very drunk lover.

So, now, he’s carrying his beloved to his apartment. Dazai is going to have a lot of paperwork to do the next day.

“Weretiger,” Chuuya mumbles, clutching his arm, “weretiger, pay attention... to what I’m saying…”

“Weretiger’s not my name, Chuuya.”

“But you’re a tiger.”

“A weretiger.”

“See!”

Atsushi sighs. God, he’s going to sleep in the next day. Fortunately, for him, it’s his free day. Dazai can work all alone on his goddamn stuff.

“Weretiger!”

“... Yes?”

“Your hair is soft.”

That’s exactly why he didn’t want Chuuya drunk.

“What conditioner do you use?”

“I don’t use conditioner.”

“What?!”

And there he goes—

“You can’t do that! Your hair is precious! Even if it looks like a flock of birds tried to eat it!”

Don’t drop him, don’t drop him, you love him, so don’t drop him—

After a few minutes of his boyfriend’s ramblings, they’ve finally made it to the dorms.

“Come on, Chuuya,” he mutters, too tired switch on the light. “Some of your clothes are in the closet.”

“My sweater! Did you steal it, weretiger?”

“Yes, I did,” he admits, “but still, please stop calling me weretiger! It makes me think of Akutagawa!”

“... You shouldn’t.”

Atsushi blinks before he stares into the other’s eyes.

“You shouldn’t think about anyone but me, weretiger.”

Atsushi sighs as he shoves the other onto the futon and makes his way to the bathroom. Seriously, why couldn’t Dazai just stay back?

After a few minutes, he lays down beside the other and closes his eyes, ready to fall asleep. But then he feels something press against his forehead, and he opens his eyes to fall into ocean-blue orbs. Chuuya is smiling gently at him and he just knows that he’s blushing. 

“Your voice is so warm,” the elder mumbles, sleep slowly overtaking him, ”Atsushi.”

Ah. He remembers just why he fell in love with the other.
