“oh how bad i want mochi right now.” you grumbled as you passed by a grocery store. it was early in the morning, the sun already shining down on you and your boyfriend as he walked you to your company building. you had early morning practice in order to prepare for a comeback and you were very hungry.

a sign displayed on a store window with a half eaten green tea mochi made your mouth water— but you didn’t have the time to make a pit stop. you also didn’t want to hear your manager complain about you consuming sugar before having a proper meal (it was also only 7:30).

jake chuckled at your whiny tone, trying to ignore the rays of sun that we’re currently assaulting his eyes. he tried to keep his complaints to a minimum, especially since he offered to walk you. but boy was it humid…

“we can get all the mochi you want after practice.” jake spoke up, causing your eyes to light up. but once you realized that your schedule was jammed packed the whole day, you suddenly frowned. jake noticed your change in expression and pinched your cheek playfully.

“but i want it now.” you groaned, staring at the sign until jake had to grab you by the arm and drag you away from the store.

“chill out, mochi monster, we can get some tonight.” he chuckled, using a nickname he had made up for you once he realized how much you adored the treat.

“there’s no time for me today. and don’t you have a schedule too?” you asked, looking up at jake with sad eyes. the boy’s small smile dropped when he saw your lack of one. even if it was over something silly and small, jake hated to see you upset and he also never wanted his favorite girl to go hungry.

“yeah, i forgot…another day then?” he suggested, already forming a plan in his mind. you nodded and stopped short when you were in front of the back entrance of the building. jake leaned down to give you a soft and sweet kiss before parting, quickly poking your nose as he turned to walk away. you sighed as you watched his figure retreat, wishing that you could spend the whole day with him.

after a long day consisting of morning practice, an hour long meeting and a test shoot for your group’s new music video, you were sure you had never been so tired in your life. the youngest of your group still seemed to have some energy left as she practically skipped into the dorms, the excitement of your comeback never leaving her mind.

you, on the other hand, trudged into the living room, plopping down on the floor instead of the couch. you let your eyes close, sighing at the feeling of being able to lay down and decompress for the first time that day.

“y/n, someone left this for you.” one of your group mates spoke up, hovering over you with a small box. you sat up, thanking the girl before taking the box from her. you opened the plain white lid, a smile taking over your face when you noticed a few packs of mochi sitting inside. strawberry and green tea of course, your favorite.

you then noticed the post-it note stuck to the inside of the lid. you smiled even wider upon realizing who had left the gift for you.

‘to my little mochi monster. i know you weren’t too happy about your long day today so i wanted to cheer you up. you were practically drooling over the mochi from the store this morning so i went back to get some when i was free. i love you so much— please enjoy it a lot for me!

you giggled at the note, carefully taking it off the box so you could keep it safe in your room somewhere. the gesture was really sweet and you didn’t know what you did to deserve such a thoughtful boyfriend.

I would LOVE to be known as the Katakuri anon. I don't know what it is, but I am obsessed with that man right now and so STARVED for fics. Which is why I wrote that little snippet (it's finished now 🤭). Idk why, but I feel like we need more fics of Katakuri with a wife and kids. I looked up a list of desserts and foods to figure out the names. Gotta keep that trend of naming your kids after food, thanks to Big Mom. I think the name Warabiko might be my favorite because warabiko is what's used to make warabi mochi.

HOW MANY BABIES?! 👀 Man, Big Mom is gonna be so happy her legacy lives on in an empire of beautiful Kata children, Katakuri Anon!

Dango is my favourite dessert. Squishy, can be topped by anything, including a caramelized miso syrup, and served on a stick so you can eat it on the go. I bet he looks just like Katakuri 😭.

OKAY! It’s time for the Chimera Baby Lore Post!!

🌼 How did you come up with the OC's name?

In both a meta and non-meta sense, Chimera Baby’s name is probably the most notable part about them. The name Chimera Baby is a reference to m-flo and LiSA’s Tripod Baby, ft in the game Shadow the Hedgehog. For over 6 months that was her official non-official name, as I couldn’t decide on a name for her. I received over 15 name suggestions, but in July I ran a poll at which point she was dubbed Mira!

As it turns out, Mira happens to be the name of a binary star system. Two stars in a dance doomed to end in supernova—rather fitting for a chimera character, wouldn’t you say? I like to imagine Shadow was the one to name Mira something meaningful and space-themed like that, meanwhile Sonic named the other child something totally arbitrary (“His name is Mochi because he's white lol”)

On that note, I’ve also decided Sonic calls Mira “Chili” exclusively, because its silly and he would. So Mira, Chimera Baby, CB, and Chili are all names she goes by!

🌸 How old are they? (Or approximate age range)

I like to depict them anywhere from baby to teenager, but in their most recent incarnation I’d say they’re somewhere between 15-17

💖 Do they have any love interest(s)?

At the moment no. She’s generally too aloof and off putting for anyone to approach her with romantic intent, but maybe in the future….

Besides combat training, CB enjoys the occasional outdoor activity. Sometimes her friends goad her into a game of soccer (which she is an absolute beast at), but she generally prefers solo sports such as archery, rock climbing, or hiking. Sometimes her brother convinces her to fish with him, but she finds it pretty boring (but would never turn him down)

💃 What do they do best?

Mira excels at hand-to-hand combat. As the reigning champion of Chao Karate, Mira takes their martial arts training very seriously. They also possess exemplary control over chaos energy, and incorporates this into their technique. While they may not be as fast as their fathers, they make up for it with not just raw power, but an extremely disciplined technique.

Her skills also happen to make her an amazing breakdancer, but she’ll break your face if you ask her to demonstrate.

☀️ What is one of your OC's best memories?

A tie between making her baby brother laugh for the first time and the time she drew first blood for the first time in a fight with Shadow

🌧️ What is one of your OC's worst memories?

The aftermath of almost drowning as a child after she saved a chao friend.

For the most part—I did redesign their shoes because originally they were rocking some McDonalds drip.

Basically its a mix of me poking fun at the phenomena of Sonadow fan-children all looking kinda similar, and this plush reminding me of actual chimerism in animals and wanting to create a character with that characteristic! Over the months my ironic love for her has grown into genuine fondness—so while she remains primarily as a parody, she’s also a character I’m having fun exploring concepts with <3 Much like both Shadow and Sonic the Hedgehog, you can take her as seriously or not seriously as you wish!

Non-binary and trans (you decide what direction). And she’s bisexual bc i love bisexuals <3

One little brother Mochi—he is a perfect angel who is also her closest friend. She adores him, but you wouldn’t know from seeing them interact.

⚠️ What is the OC's relationship w/their parents like?

So I mentioned that Mira was reared in a chao garden, where her dads basically only visited once every couple days if not longer (Sonic and Shadow are not very attentive parents, go figure). However, this was honestly a perfectly fine arrangement as I headcanon mobian children don’t need the same level of parental contact as human children (Hell, Cream is kind of an outlier FOR having a present parental figure in her life).

That being said, I imagine Shadow spent more time with her when she was really young before stepping away, which made her really latch onto Shadow more than Sonic during that time. Especially seeing as Sonic is the most laissez-faire parent ever but simultaneously was the type to abandon her on a floating platform in midair with a trail of badniks so she can learn how to homing attack.

Much like her father before her, her latent Black Arms genes have caused her to develop a burning desire to destroy Shadow—a fact that Shadow seems strangely indifferent about. While this fact has pretty much wrecked their previous relationship, there are circumstances where Mira will put aside her goal and work with Shadow against a common enemy or towards a common objective (of course, this doesn’t stop her from trying to stab him in the back during these operations).

Her relationship with Sonic has remained mostly the same, with Sonic treating her much more like a friend or little sister than a daughter. They have lunch together at least once a month, and usually she’ll go to him for advice on any social interaction matter—conversations that have become much more frequent now that she’s begun to make friends.

💗 What do you like most about the OC?

I think I popped off with her design—chimerism is such an interesting concept and I loved balancing her two sets of genes without making it seem too busy. I also love her dynamic of trying to kill Shadow and how you would think her growing up in chao garden basically alone would have contributed to that, but that's not the case at all she’s just like that <3

‼️ Who is your OC's arch-nemesis or rival?

Shadow the Hedgehog is her self-proclaimed nemesis, but she makes a fair share of enemies and rivals wherever she goes due to her punch-first-ask-questions-later attitude. One notable rival is another OC of mine named Sauvik the Badger—another cold and brooding anti-hero much like her. Sauvik and Mochi are something of a team, but being a protective big sister she wants him to stay away from her brother. This generally leads to a fight that Mochi is inevitably forced to break up.

🥞 PANCAKE - what is their comfort breakfast?

being raised with western culture, his comfort food is easily something like crepes stuffed with whipped cream and macerated strawberries, and topped with a light dusting of powdered sugar

🎂 BIRTHDAY CAKE - when is their birthday? do they like celebrating it?

Jupe's another cancer muse of mine bc I just have the most emotionally invested sort of muses lmao. but his birthday's July 2nd, and as for celebrating - I feel like as a child he did because it was the few days he could see his brother and just having a slice of his favorite cake that his brother managed to get from a local bakery made him happy. Nowadays, it's just kind of a day for him. He's usually busy - especially because summer's such a popular time of travel for him with meteor showers. He doesn't like it nor dislike it, but won't say no if people are that obligated to celebrate his birthday.

🍩 DONUT - favourite sweet treat?

gods, jupe is one of my muses with such a big sweet tooth it's hard to really narrow it down. he likes a lot of fruity and sometimes refreshing sweets? probably has to do with him being a summer baby tbh and a good chunk of his mother's pregnancy was it getting into the warmer months, so she was often eating things like frozen yogurt, ice-cold lemonades to the point it was basically just a slushie. so he likes things like hwachae, ice cream mochi is also nice to him. ice cream and frozen yogurt are probably his favorite things to get just because it's refreshing and doesn't entirely fill you - it's just a perfect thing to him after a meal.

🍟 FRIES - do they order food often? or they prefer to cook their own food?

it's a love-hate relationship with takeout/fast food with jupe. they grew up on it for the most part, to the point where they often got sick of it. they weren't a picky eater growing up shockingly, but it was just the easiest thing for his brother to get if he was going to be home late. or not at all, and someone could drop it off for him and his siblings at the time. he eventually learned to cook - but i think due to his sweet tooth he became more of a baker lol. he can cook and he cooks very well, but he prefers to bake when he has the time. he also travels a lot so it can be really convenient to him to just get food fast. but sometimes he really just wants to sit at the table, not at the counter of his kitchen, with a nice warm meal that was made home and just eat.

☕️ HOT BEVERAGE - do they prefer hot or cold drinks? what is their favourite drink?

cold drinks, you'll see him drinking ice coffee in the dead of winter even if he's freezing to his core. he prefers fruity drinks tho tbh, he isn't the heaviest of coffee drinkers unless he's running on jet lag. sometimes when he's home he'll have a cup of tea with his brother and brother-in-law to just kind of wind down from traveling (he often spends his first night or two at his brother's place bc that's where his animals are anyways if he's been gone for a while).

🍓 STRAWBERRY - do they eat their fruit & veg? what is their favourite fruit or vegetable?

definitely loves his fruits and veggies, probably more fruit than veggies if you had to make him choose - but isn't very picky to them. he's obsessed with strawberries and raspberries, and his favorite veggies would probably have to be tomatoes. you'll see him make a toasted piece of bread with tomato-roasted or not, and crack some pepper on it if he's got some fresh veg on hand.

🍰 CAKE SLICE - favourite cake flavour? are they specific about types of cakes?

a good strawberry shortcake is nice to him, again just that love for strawberries. the whipped cream has to be fresh too - he loves fresh whipped cream. layers gotta have the whipped cream, strawberries and maybe even some macerated berries or jam between it all. he's not very specific, but like i said - he won't gravitate towards anything too heavy. chocolate on chocolate isn't his favorite.

🍧 SHAVED ICE - do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it?

he still has his baby blanket because it was the one thing his mother made for him when she was still around. sure it was soft and feminine because she was expecting a little girl that she got - but jupe still keeps it. he would be heartbroken if he ever lost it, because it's just that one piece he has of his mother - not that he even remembers her because she died not too long after his birth. it's often tucked nice and neat at the foot of his bed. you'll often times see callisto nesting on it and keeping it warm and safe - and spreading all her fur on it.

💐 BOUQUET - create a bouqet for them! what do those flowers mean? are any of the flowers their particular favourite?

if you want a bouquet, look at the one on his arm that's an entire sleeve. marigolds are his favorite, but there's dahlias that are his mother's favorite, sunflowers for his brother-in-law, and lilies for his brother. lilies, depending on what color you get, are often represent with purity and joy. sunflowers are similar; happiness, joy, if a person gifts them to you it often means they find you being a bright and happy person. dahlias are creativity and growth, they're also part of the daisy family which often shows resilience. marigolds can mean both good and bad things depending on your intentions, but again harken back to purity the way lilies do and represent divinity. he also loves the warmth of marigolds, the color of them is beautiful to him with how vivid they are. they're also said to ward off negativity and bad spirits.

✏️ PENCIL - is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them?

honestly rather than either of them?? when i was in the process of revamping and recreating jupe and reggy all the way back in 2017/2018, Light's Skin & Earth album came out and eventually came later with the acoustic and new songs along with it. those albums entirely really capture a lot of their stories and personalities. if there's one song or quote from that album that gets me thinking of jupe a lot it's skydiving:

and bookwise? i think when i always think of the two brothers it'll always bring me back to acomaf where rhys and feyre repeat to each other "to the stars that listen, and to the dreams that are answered." because they are my star/night/galaxy related muses. those kind of things will always be a little tender to my heart.

💓 BEATING HEART - what gets their heart racing?

as stubborn as jupe is, it really doesn't take a lot for this kid to get his heart going. make him food and drag him away from his studio, his craft rooms - just get him away from work. he works himself to death. if you get him paints, he will cherish them and use them to their last drops. bake with him, it's a fun and relaxing hobby for him. even if it's just getting measuring spoons or supplies, just be in the kitchen with him and talk with him. draw dumb little things on a cake or bread together, help clean the flour off his glasses - just be with him in the quiet of his too-big-for-one-person apartment.
