Celia: We just stopped at the Bubble Tea shop on the way home... It’s just 5.

Alejandro: From now on and until your grades are up, you are to come straight home from school. Any outing needs to be preapprouved by your mother and I. Understood?

Alejandro: I’ll pick you up here at 5. Hurry up when your class is over. I’m on the night shift.

Celia: I can take the bus. You don’t have to-

Alejandro: So you can waste time loitering around? No. I’m picking you up and bringing you home where you can do something constructive.

Celia: So, according to you, I’m supposed to be studying every waking moment of the day now? Is that what they taught you in med school?

Alejandro: Med school taught me perseverance and hard work lead to success. Without my success you wouldn’t have the leisure to have extracurricular activities. You’d be working and studying just like I was at your age.

Celia: Maybe I’d prefer that actually...

Danny Fenton sends Superman a fan email in which he asks for advice. In it he says he is also a non-human hero (he is vague because being a ghost is illegal) Danny mentions that he is being raised by humans. His parents don't know about his activities or species and hate his kind.

Danny was mostly looking for advice on how to make people stop being scared of his non-human characteristics. But Clark really sees himself in this teenager's email. He knows he was lucky to get parents who loved him even as an alien, but he also recalls being young and scared that would change.

So they start regularly exchanging emails, and Superman becomes a kind of mentor even if Danny refuses to tell him anything about his identity.

City of Tears. But Mini.

I wanted to make an atmospheric art piece with Dewi. And the City of Tears is one of the most sorrowing, beautiful, and grand places to do that. This is a lot of firsts for me regarding the architecture and lighting. The shadows cover a lot, and it may have been too much. I'm happy with how it turned out tho.

No idea how Dewi found his way into the City. Probably magic. Probably plot too :) But oh boy, he is experiencing childlike wonder in his raincoat!

This is a better show of the line detail I needlessly covered up in the final lol

I love how unsanitized The Terror feels. Like there’s grime everywhere. You can tell those men smell bad. When they do surgery you can hear the bone being cut, when they get sick they look genuinely ill. The main character’s actor even has pockmarks, he LOOKS like he could be from the 1800s! And idk, I think it’s cool that we’re so aware of the characters’ carnal desires. They’re hungry, thirsty, freezing, etc, and it is so obvious that they have a body with needs!!

I think this also accounts for how horny the show feels, even though everyone is bundled up 90% of the time and there are no real romantic subplots. Besides the fact that it’s a very carnal show, it just has the intimacy and grime of true horniness. Is this thing on

Celia: [silent] AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! [audible] Ugh!

Max: Did I just see you get out the window? What’s going on?

Celia: My parents are being assholes.

Max: Alright…

Celia: I got 68% in math in my report card-

Max: That’s great! (he sees her face) Isn’t it? You were afraid of failing that class. You passed. It’s almost 70!

Celia: See, that’s how I would like them to react. But no, it’s not good enough, I don’t put enough effort in. And now, I’ll  have a private tutor on Wednesdays to make sure I’m doing the work. As if I didn’t feel dumb enough.

Max: You’re not dumb. No one’s good at everything. You’re smart in ways I’m sure your parents would struggle with. 

Max: And you’re so underdressed for the temperatures we’re having right now. Come here.

Max: Better?

Celia: Better. I still hate my parents and don’t want to go back.

Max: I get it.

Celia: I guess you do.

Max: Celia?

Celia: Hm?

Max: There’s a lot of things I want to tell you. I’m not sure where to start. I guess talking about my parents is as good a place as any. 

My mom was really young when she had me. My dad is an addict, mostly alcohol, but he liked to try other things too. It didn’t take long before mom got into it also. They were mostly either passed out or fighting. I always had to be careful not to set them off. My grandma would check up on me often. She’d pick me up when things were rough. I’d live with her for a while. My mom would join us. Things would get better. I’d go back home and everything would start again. Until I was 8, got caught by the police destroying pumpkins with some friends on Halloween and they brought me back to my parents. They saw enough concerning things to call social services and I was put under the care of my grandmother. My mom got sober when gran got her diagnosis. She got custody back and promised her she would take good care of me. But when gran died, mom just went back to the bottle. She needed it ‘cause she was grieving.

Max: The day I left, my dad attacked me in my sleep ‘cause he was looking for my money to get his fix. And my mom came around right after to get her share. I hate my parents and don’t want to go back.

Celia: Max…

Max: Sometimes you have good parents that do shitty things. Other times, you just have shitty parents. Only you know which ones your parents are.

Celia: [sigh] I don't know.

Max: Holy shit! Your hands are cold!

Celia: You can warm them up for me.

Max: I’d love to, but there’s limits to what I can do out here. Let’s get you home before you freeze.
