a year of 2022 memories
This year was so, so different than what I expected. New experiences + old friends mixed in ways that blew my expectations clean away. A few of my favorite standout memories:
- walking around my quiet neighborhood at sunset with a new hat + the tranquility of being with God - wandering around Saint Ignatius admiring the art even if they didn’t have descriptions - writing at Cinderella so, so much - hosting Liz at my place, grabbing vegan burgers, kvas, and writing - grabbing the first dance with Yeri at Cody & Aileen’s wedding - reading in a Starbucks with Michelle at SK while everyone else passed by - writing with Tina & Liz at a random cafe in Snohomish surrounded by college kids - reading Murakami’s latest book + watching the sunset on Caltrain - exploring our SV campus with Yeri looking for to-go cups - eating a pickle corndog while exploring our first night in Halloween Downtown Disney - laughing forever while playing Mario Party in our hotel - getting hot-dogs while trick or treating in Menlo Park - Cuban coffee during the hot humidity at a random cafe in Miami - laughing + driving in Autopia with Yeri through the rain

god its been a while
im sure nobodys reading here so lets do this . i just need to write a lot out .
heres a timeline : march 2016 i irreversably fuck up my relatoinship to the most important person in my life, who proceeds to not communicate with me at all for four months
april 2016 i get kicked out of my parents house again and have nowhere to go, since normally when i got kickd out i would hang out with f but . we werent speaking so i couldnt so i decided to go kick it w someone who lived far away bc i didnt want to be in issaquah where my dad might find me . bused to snohomish and staid with s for a week . we got irrevocably involved . did a lot of drugs and fucked in the forest a lot it was awesome . no going back
summer 2016 i,m still estranged from f and am extremely bitter so figure i should just cut my losses and let him leave my life . i decided the person to fill the void he leaves is going to be s .
august 2016 s and i move in together , by this point ive come to terms wit the fact im in love with s
fall and winter 2016 i somewhat regularly talk with f and see him like twice , we both agree we want to fix what we did wrong and be friends again but its more like.. we only bring that up when incredibly stoned like ‘shit man remember how good we used to be lets do that again’ then wed sober and not speak about it
feb 2017 . all caught up . f is alone and takes four hits of acid bc why the hell not and we stay up literally all night talking on skype. we both decide to be mature about things , no more sarcasm and bullshit and not saying what we mean so we said a lot of things we do mean . and i always knew those things were true on some level but seeing him say it made it real . we’re in love with each other on a cellular level and we want to start like ... Doing something with that .
which is cool and all but i have s in my life now . normally not a problem - we’re all poly . but literally all of s’s exes cheated on it/abandoned it to be with other ppl and it is extremely paranoid that i would leave it and is not comfortable with me being in a serious relationship with someone else . if i try to explain that to f hes gonna say s is being unreasonable and manipulative . if i try to explain the nature of f and i’s relationship to s its going to have a paranoid breakdown and be convinced i dont love it anymore .
there is literally nothing i want more in life than to have a serious relationship with f . ive wanted that for years . i am absolutely wiling to lie to s about f and i’s relationship but i really dont want to it makes me feel like such an asshole but honestly. im not going to let anybody tell me how to interact with the most important person in my life . i fucking love him so much and i know together we could do incredible things and at the same time i love s so much and love living with it , these past few months have been wonderful and with s im a better person, im happier and so fulfilled, and its had such a horrible life i want to take care of it and help it actually .. enjoy being alive .
this is so fucking stupid i never thought this would happen lmao, i never thought id be in some bullshit love triangle bc i ppersonally dont have any problem being in multiple serious relationships i never thought i would end up with somebody who wasnt comfortable with that its so stupid and i dont know what to do . i want to be as close to f as possible and really .. i cant do that if s is in my life. but i love s so so much and want it in my life this is all so fucking stupid im frustrated and want to die there are literally only two ppl on this shitty planet i care about and now theyre unknowingly making me choose between them like i just want both ? i just want to be able to love thm both without making anybody uncomfortable or paranoid or scared but i literally see no way of doing that , and IM paranoid about bringing this up to f bc im scared hed convince me to leave s idk if that would actually happen, or conciously happen, but i know f and idk .. if you want something badly you do fucked up things sometimes im scared to bring it up bc i love him and he has so much influence over me still and i think he think s isnt good for me , all three of us have hung out together during a time when s was going through A Lot of shit and did some bad things (it literally wasnt s tho .. thats a whole nother story but i know it literally wasnt s doing those things ..... okay i just have to put it here  put it somewhere but it did rape me at least once that i can remember its body did, s didnt do it but its old dead self that still is in its head did fuck i dont even want to think abut that fuck
like i know how paranoia is and i know that even if s told me it was comfortable with me being with f it rlly . wouldnt mean that . s would absolutely lie to make me feel better bc i know it wants the best for me to and is willing to sacrifice its own wellbeing for that , thats not what i want !! thats not what i fucking want but i feel like if i ever explained the extent of f and i’s connection to s it wouldnt be able to trust me andd would always be scared id leave it fuck fuck fuccckk god fuck smash my head in with a fucking rock i hate this
so many things in my life have gotten better recently but now this bullshit , i need to navigate this bullshit and i dont know how i just want to be able to love without worrying about shit im so tired i want to cry i just want f in my life so so badly hes been gone for so long and i miss him i feel like weve missed so much by not speaking for so long , i need to catch up with him im so fucking sad just im so fucking sad

Gray Bridge Event Venue is one of those locations that feels like it’s on another planet and yet right in town all at the same time.
As you approach the venue, the road is lined with trees that create a natural tunnel. Obviously, I visited in June, but I can just imagine how incredible this must look in the fall when the leaves turn color.
Then, as you walk through the geometric tunnel onto the main part of the grounds, you realize that “hidden gem” is truly what this venue is. From stunning  private ponds complete with fountains (yes plural) – one of which is powered by a natural spring – a ceremony space with amphitheater and dock, and a modern romantically lit reception space that the owners have created specifically with ambiance in mind, this venue has it all. Their getting ready spaces are also designed well, with the bridal suite even set for in-suite boudoir sessions.  There is a trail through the backwoods behind the ceremony pond that they’ve recently re-done with a wooden walkway. The landscaping is impeccable.  When I visited, the iconic bridge was under construction, but should be finished in just a few days.
I definitely plan on visiting again soon and will update this post with photos from that trip, as these were just a few that I took during an engagement session on the property.  Keep an eye out for that update!
Bottom line – if you’re venue hunting in Snohomish County or the Seattle area, add this one to your list.

From Gray Bridge: “Imagine your wedding at the edge of a pond–with a fountain and gray bridge behind you. The forest rises up behind your guests while the Cascade foothills rise up behind you and your partner. You are about to officially begin your lives together in the most beautiful, sophisticated, private, and uniquely-you location you can imagine. Welcome to Gray Bridge.
We want to be a part of the story of your lives together. A little bit of story-book fantasy, a bit of glamour, a lot of nature, and a focus and reflection of you and how special this day is–that is what we are at Gray Bridge. Our venue is unique–like you are–and we strive to Gray Bridge into a space that is unlike any other where your unique specialness and the importance of your commitment together is reflected in a space that is also special and important. Come celebrate with us!
Castle Island In the late 70’s, the Baldridge family purchased 40 acres in Sultan and started building their dream house. The site was pristine: private, full of natural beauty, an ideal setting to raise a family and build a dream. Dick Baldridge was a visionary in how he created his homesite. He located the house so that it is essentially surrounded by a moat. Behind the house is the toe of a hill with the dense forest rising high above, a wetland and stream at the base of the hill lines the rear of the house with water. In front of the homesite, he carved out ponds from some existing depressions, he built a driveway between the ponds and between the ponds and the wetland an island was made. Architect Michael Gemza designed the house for Dick, Lola and their girls Pam and Sue.
Dick Baldridge had a vision and heavy equipment. After he carved out the ponds, he tapped a natural spring about 250 feet up the forested hillside. He built a weir, buried a culvert and collected water bubbling out of the mountainside and sent it into the west pond. The fountain in the west pond is coming from that culvert about 250’ up the hill. The drop pushes the water through the pipe at a continuous rate year round. The water in the ponds is crystal clear because it is continually being circulated from the spring into the west pond, overflows into the east pond, and then into the wetland behind the house. The ponds are about 55 degrees and full of breeding trout, otter, muskrat, seasonal waterfowl, and feeding birds.
We’ve named locations on the property for their original design. The “pool deck” had a huge, deep, and frog-filled swimming pool when we bought the property. The paved area under the tent is “the helipad” where, according to the real estate listing, the property is only 15 minutes by helicopter to Seattle! The area above the amphitheater is the “putting green”. The Baldridge property had a 3 hole golf course where our horse pastures are now located.
We bought the property, now 15 acres, in 2017. It had been sold a few times since the original owner and had been neglected for a number of years. We gutted, cleaned, pruned, planted and painted. We built a barn, filled in the pool, repaired the ponds, patched the driveway, and fell in love with this place. We feel like caretakers of the most beautiful space in the world.
As a wedding venue, we get to share the uniqueness and beauty of our gorgeous setting with wedding couples as they begin their married life together! We want to share our space with others who love the mountain views, the sound of running water, the shade of the forest, and the magnificent architecture and backdrop that makes up the Gray Bridge Venue! Do you want to get married in a place that is sophisticated while full of natural beauty? Do you want a wedding venue that is unique and as special as you are? Are you looking to marry at a place that says “my wedding is important”? Gray Bridge is the place where those memories are made. Please join us!”

This was a very special wedding for us. Josh has known the bride’s family for most of his life, and when they asked us to be part of their Hidden Meadows wedding, it was a huge honor.
We also went a little out of our norm for this one and coordinated and did the floral/decor for the wedding. Kiana was a very chill bride and it made the experience a fun one for all of us.  While the day was a little more rainy than we all hoped for, it did end up with an incredible double rainbow during dinner.
As usual, we asked the couple to answer a few questions for us:
How did the two of you meet? On June 24th, 2015, Kiana and Ryan met on a mission trip to Fortaleza, Brazil. Ryan was from Colorado and Kiana was about to move from Arizona to Washington State after high school. They spent two weeks on the same team serving the people of Brazil. They became friends very quickly and stayed in touch for two years before they started dating on July 25th, 2017. During the two years of friendship, Ryan lived in Redding, California for school and Castle Rock, Colorado in the summers, and Kiana was pursuing her nursing degree in Washington State. For 15 months, we did long distance, but that came to an end on October 22nd, 2018, when Ryan made the move from Castle Rock, Colorado, to Everett, WA. We went from living 1358 miles apart to now living 1.4 miles apart.
Tell us all the awesome proposal details. On December 9th, exactly one week after Kiana graduated nursing school, Ryan took her to Leavenworth, Washington. Ryan remembered visiting this place two years before on a church trip. Every December this little village has a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and this was the the perfect day to visit as it had just began to snow as Ryan and Kiana arrived. They spent the first half of the day walking around the shops in the Bavarian town and stopped to have bratwursts and pretzels for lunch. The snow continued to pick up and after lunch, they walked through the snow down to the Wenatchee River that ran alongside the town. They had a great time full of snow angels and lots of snow fights as they walked through the trees. Eventually they ended up down by the river where they sat and enjoyed the quiet during sunset. Then with snow falling around them, Ryan got down on one knee and asked Kiana to marry him. After she said “yes” they went back up to the village and watched as the tree lighting took place and half a million lights lit the village.
What is your most anticipated moment on your wedding day? I am really excited for the first look. Mostly the one with Ryan, but also with my dad. I am also really excited to just celebrate with family.
If we bumped into the two of you on a relaxed weekend, what would you be doing? Hiking, reading at home, or outside. Ryan loves sports and I enjoy watching him play.

Among the Wildflowers | Lookout Lodge Snohomish Wedding
Among the Wildflowers | Lookout Lodge Snohomish Wedding
Our Lookout Lodge Snohomish Weddings have been absolutely perfect this year, and this one is no exception.
