favorite fic you wrote this year

gonna say The Passing of Things (TPoT). Obviously it hasn't gotten to the GaaLee points yet, so if someone's lookin' for me to wax poetical about that aspect of the fic, well, that's not why I love it so much.

I love it because it's a visceral look at grief and loss, and I think those things are really important. I think there's a catharsis in writing about these things, a catharsis in reading these things, and I think it is something incredibly important and reaffirming--you're not alone in your grief, you're not alone in your strife, you're not alone in your anger... We all have 'ugly' emotions, we all process painful things in terrible, awful ways.

Sometimes we're selfish, sometimes we're mean, sometimes we suck at remembering that we're only human and that those around us are also only human.

Stories like this, for me, are about the universality of grief and it always just hits really close to home and feels really important for me when I write them.

favorite character to write about this year

I think my favorite characters are always the same group in flux. I love writing the Sand Sibs, Lee, and Tenten so much it's hard to actually pick at any given moment (though I won't lie, Kankurou often ends up being number 1 because he is just so fucking fun to write).

While I do tend to write a lot more fics from Gaara's PoV than I ever thought I would*, Kankurou is always a nice break and also I think he's really interesting. Like he's funny, but guarded? Also, he's just a big ol' slut and I love that for him.

Shikamaru is also another character I really enjoy. Like he is 100000% a wife guy and 100000% obsessed with his daughter, and that's really all I care about.

a fic you didn’t expect to write

Definitely The Ballad of the Dragon and the Phoenix (TBotDatP/The Ballad). For one thing, it's just going to be such a research heavy fic and I already have so much research heavy writing to be getting on with. I knew that the start of the fic wasn't going to be as research heavy, but I still didn't think I'd actually go for it because the overall fic is just a Big Project and I already have a lot of those.

All that aside though, I am honestly really happy I posted it. I think the prologue is really strong and intriguing, and honestly I can't wait to get more into it!

any new fics to start next year

God. I genuinely hope not. I think 16 WIPs is more than enough to be getting on with, ya know? Like I really don't think I need to be pushin' 20 WIPs, yet here I am with nearly that. Like I obviously always have a large number of unposted WIPs and ideas but to actually have 16 posted WIPs.... no... no, I cannot take it. I need to contain myself. Honestly, I should have made that one of my resolutions for the year: Don't start anything new. Not even old ideas that are still just ideas!

Like you know you get your notification and you click on 'em and reply, and then they're not grey anymore and are 'read' and you can just... delete them... yeah, I keep all my fave ones for when I need a pick me up and honestly... i do not know how i would even pick one of my faves if I'm being honest

You know, I've been looking for this post of mine for a little bit now. Which is hilarious cause it's my post and I should be able to see it from searching my tags but nope! I just wanted to add these two anons I got that I noticed not too long ago. And I want to apologize to these two lovely people, for they have been in my inbox and I have no idea for how long they've been sitting there.

Too anon 1: yes I agree with the kl@nce dynamic acting more like siblings. But to be fair I'm probably biased since that's how me and my sisters act towards each other.

Too anon 2: it's so nice to see that despite not having any siblings you and your SO can see the romance between these two dorks. And even if you your self don't have any siblings, you have probably seen how your SO and their sibs act. So they by extension are your siblings now too! I hope you two are very happy together and I wish you both a well and happy life as can be!!! ❤️

You know. I’ve been thinking, and I wonder how many sheith shippers have siblings? Cause like. It’s cool if you think sheith is more friendssheith or brotherly or whatnot. But as someone who has 2 siblings I just don’t see it as anything but romantic.
