How would the ShellShock Crew react to LFLS!Leo?
(I feel like I answered this months ago but I can’t find it—)
While I currently haven’t read LFLS, and don’t really plan to anytime soon, this is all based off of the art I’ve seen so far!
Firstly it would be denial. Raph and Mona refuse to believe that there’s a world where Draxum succeeds in capturing their son and turning him into a weapon of war entirely. There’s even more denial on the brothers part, Orion Rovva and Corrin seeing a different version of Cino, just.
Completely shattered and broken down to being nothing more than an empty husk of the brother that they know.
When it comes to Leo, Donnie, and Mikey, it’s a three way reaction to it. Leo and Donnie both close their heart to the situation and look at it from a more logical POV, Donnie especially. He’s the one trying to figure a way to medically help this variant of his nephew in anyway he can without wrecking havoc on Draxum if he ever find him. Leo is staying in the mindset of ‘take charge, take action, get him better’.
Maybe being an open door later on when Green (Raph and Mona despise that name) needs a moment of quiet in the lair. Mikey, alongside Raph and Mona, is shaken to the core about the whole situation. In my AU Cino and Mikey are the closest Uncle-Nephew duo wise. Very much shattered to see his once fun loving, pun throwing nephew silent and quiet.
The one image I do see in my head is Raph and Mona dying to hug Green. Trying to ensure any form of comfort for this unfortunate version of their son, wanting to hold him close and never let him go.

12) your weaknesses as an author
13) your strengths as an author
Thank you so much for always sending asks in!!! It really means a lot to me!!!!
Get to know your author
12): I think I am going overboard in describing reactions and bodylanguage often, but I also can't stop. I seriously think sometimes tell would benefit me more than show, but I also can't decide in which instances that would be, so until I get a betareader who I seriously trust to know their shit, we're stuck with it.
I'm also an extremely slow writer, because I will not publish something mediocre. My most consistently well-done work has been through at least two drafts, one vomit and one edit. For my big projects, I'll vomit draft, edit it and then print it out to edit it one last time. I've been working on the rewrite for Irish Problems since last August and am only 3 1/2 chapters in. That's also on Uni being hell and depression slump but still. Italian Affairs took me 8 years to write in the first place. We're getting there, but we're getting there crawling.
13) I NEVER QUIT BABYYYY, 10 YEARS OF THE LFLS MAINSERIES THIS OCTOBER AND I HOPE THAT I WILL CONTINUE WRITING THESE BITCHES FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!!! I have ironclad determination when it comes to my main projects. I don't write when motivation hits, I write when I have time and energy and I do not care if I write 2k words in three hours or if it takes me 45 minutes to churn out 200 words that I hate. I'll write and I'll usually rediscover my love for writing and the story as I go. I love writing so much - not having told a story, but telling a story. I think other writers should remind themselves of that or find another hobby, if it is THAT tedious to them.
I've also often been complimented on how lively my characters are, which I take a lot of pride in. I'm good at giving everyone a voice unique enough that they're distinguishable in a group. I don't write archetypes, I write people and I also give my background characters enough spice for them to not be boring while they're plot devices.
Another compliment which I love is when people tell me my stories read fluently. It means a lot to me, because I really do want to produce stories where people don't have to pause because it's all too much to digest. I want it snappy, I want it to flow, I want the reader to be drawn in by what's happening.

Wow, Guess I'm Making This Post
So, I guess I'm back again to talk about somethings. To make clarifications and to correct myself. About two-ish (maybe three?) days ago I made a post @/ing Glitch and talking about LFLS. This post here, which I don't want anyone to reblog anymore but I cannot seem to make it unrebloggable and see no point in deleting it because it would still exist within the reblogs of it. But in the post I meant for my intentions to be made clear that I had problems with how people responded in treating LFLS compared to other fics, while also making it clear I had no ill will or bad intentions against that fic or Glitch themself. I tried my best and even had my post peer reviewed by fellow content creators so my wording could be at its best.
I failed in my attempt, however. As a couple of people had come into my DM's telling me take my post down. At first I thought perhaps they were just diehard fans of Glitch, who only wanted to focus on the fact that I called Glitches tweet condescending for smaller content creators and not encouraging like she had hoped. However, one of them made better clarity of their problems with my post then the other (no hate to that other they did their best their point just didn't come across as well as they hoped it to) to which I say thank you.
While I and some of the others that reblogged my post saw it as a complaint about fandom acting like other content creators don't make content. When they do and often get ignored, making creators feel unappreciated and abandoning works or not even sharing them to being with. Glitch and the people who know her saw it as me blaming her for her popularity and how LFLS blew up, that I made her to be condescending and that my post was made for negativity under the guise of fandom.
I want to make it clear I do not think ANY of those things about Glitch, I don't know Glitch personally. Heck, confession? Still haven't read LFLS, and probably won't. I completely believe that Glitches tweet was her trying to inspire people to create. It just felt unintentionally condescending to me and a few other content creators who have been writing Rise fics for just as long as Glitch, with much different results. And I suppose part of me let that feeling seep into my post. But Glitch and LFLS are not the cause of the fandoms reactions to them. And I didn't make that clear. Glitch is just a human being, like any of us are, and she is not in control of her popularity or peoples response to what she makes or creates. My post wasn't meant to be about Glitch but it became that when I didn't explain myself fully. Or make my intentions properly clear.
I intended for that post to focus on fandom and how it doesn't acknowledge smaller creators the way they do bigger creators. For example, myself, it is rare for me to get comments. Since January of 2022 to now I've had about maybe 7 or 8 new comments on my fic. For reference that's 10 whole months. With comments only coming in either one a month or two-three at once but then lacking between months. I've gotten a handful of asks about my fic. And my fic (Dread Poition) has been around since about 2020 (if I remember correctly). Now my fic is certainly not top tier nor really memorable for fics. But plenty of my writer friends get the same results as me. With works that are 1000 times better then my own. Some creators even LESS then that with about one comment within the past few years of their fanfic being public.
I bring up again, a friend of mine who creates fanart for Rise. Who has only ever gotten a large amount of reblogs and hearts on their LFLS fanart, and still do to this day. While their many, many amazing pieces of fanart they've made over the years doesn't even get CLOSE to as many reblogs and hearts as that one particular piece of fanart does.
Which, again, let me make it very clear that it is NOT Glitches fault AT ALL that this imbalance happened. That fandom decided that bigger works are the only ones that deserve any proper acknowledgement. It is on FANDOM and fandom ONLY. We all need to do our part to make smaller content creators known and let them know we love their fics and wish to see more of them. We need to engage with them, leave comments and kudos, reblog their posts about their works we enjoy, start conversations about fics we like more, and talk about more then just while known fics and encourage people to check out fics from writers they may never have heard of.
To the people who reblogged my post and hearted it because you understood what I was trying to convey. Thank you, I'm glad you agree and I am glad you could understand my post. To the people who maybe reblogged or hearted because they agreed with the miscommunication that Glitch is at fault, please know that is not something I agree with or want to be associated with. My post was never intended to start any negativity towards Glitch and I don't want that for them.
I also want to reiterate again that there is nothing wrong with liking popular works. Like, of course, LFLS by Glitch, The Brains And The Brawn by Jadesthe0ne, or Legends Of The Hidden Kingdom (fantasy au) by Charmy, to name a few. There is nothing wrong with expressing those likes with fanart or asks or comments. I think it's wonderful! But attention, love, and support are not finite, they can be given to big content creators and small ones alike without taking from either. And to me (and a few others) it certainly feels like that's how fandom can treat it sometimes.
No one is in any genuine wrong here. I'm not scolding fandom and I'm certainly not scolding Glitch. I'm just trying to point out an issue fandom has that it needs to resolve. And I'm again linking to my Writers Appreciation Post, because that's what this is all really about. Supporting writers and artists in the fandom. In my initial post I accidentally leaned into a "us versus them" mentality. "Us" being smaller creators and "Them" being bigger ones. I don't believe in that mentality and I am disappointed in myself for leaning into it unintentionally or not. We are all just creators wanting to make what we love. We are all just people who enjoy the same silly (/pos) TV show. And there's no need to pit ourselves against each other.

What is your favorite part about lfls?
*gestures to all of it*
Lol but seriously i just love how well it's written and everyone is so in character. Like sometimes when someone writes a fanfic thats darker than the source material it can be easy for characters to slip out of character. But Glitch is super skilled and makes all the reactions believable! Also its dark but not like so excessively that it's torture p*rn or something (or whatever its called i can't remember what those fics are called w excessive gore/violence to where there's almost no plot.) Bottom line is Glitch has carefully crafted the fic so it's not excessive but its not all rosey and no stakes. The stakes are SO HIGH and nothing is ever easy for poor Green (which I admire and I think my professional writing professor would like too). I think about this fic constantly and that is no exaggeration I assure you. 90% of my brain is this fic and the last 10% is my brain making sure my body continues to work.
I can't even watch donnie's gifts anymore bc i see leo get shocked and i FLINCH so badly even tho the shock is just for laughs™ and then I have trouble watching pre redemption Drax bc im like "YOU EVIL @#%&^$*!". Like thats how well done this fic if I still recall it while watching canon. The angst is so
Tumblr media
also it's made me realize some of my own trauma and I use the fic as a comfort hence why i draw it excessively and also knowing he WILL get better makes me feel like I, too, will get better one day. Semi tmi but it's worth mentioning...
Anyways to the few of you following this sideblog go read Like Father Like Son by @eternalglitch!!

I really love your LFLS fanfic! When I first read the fanfic, it shattered my heart n' possibly my soul. N' usually sad angsty fanfics Don't ever do that but yours did.
I feel bad for Leo though- but yeah, I love your fanfic!<3
Aw, thank you so much!! I try to keep the fic very centered on realistic emotions and reactions to whatever happens, so hearing that it’s actually reaching people is really nice. c:

During my screening of TROS, the audience burst out laughing during the kiss, groaned at the "bombshell" reveal/"Rey Skywalker," remained silent during all of the jokes, and actually sighed in relief when the film concluded. It was simultaneously funny and heartbreaking to witness everyone who once loved Star Wars become disappointed, frustrated, and exhausted over the franchise. Hopefully, the (critical) reception will force LF/Disney to actually reexamine their layout for the franchise!
Hi Anon,
Wow, now that is an audience reaction, and I have read other people’s screenings where they laughed at K/lo’s death scene. I think your description is accurate - fans have become disappointed, frustrated and exhausted.
But I don’t know if Disney/LFL is going to re-evaluate or not. The critical reception has been all over the place and they’ve managed to blame JJ’s choices on angry fans instead of aiming it right where it mostly belongs - at JJ and the rest of the LFL creatives who decided this was the way to go. I’ll be quite frank - if they hadn’t done Luke, Han and Leia how they did? They wouldn’t have had half or even three-quarters of the lousy response they’ve gotten. Then they piled on by not treating their new characters well and they managed to anger so many different groups, it has to be a record.
I would hope they re-evaluate, but for us old fans, it’s too late. They squandered a great gift. For the new fans, maybe they’ll get something but the new cast has universally said “done, finished, not coming back.” I can’t blame them, this experience has certainly not been what they were hoping.
Let’s hope there’s a better future for the fans that are still invested - I’m not one but there are a lot of them.
Thanks, Anon

I have so many hearts eyes for directors commentary you have no idea. But also I would love some from Lavender for luck. I love the magic in the series and I love the sequel one shot, especially the dream coma and the argument which leads to a kind of magical sensory overload. Also Virgil’s thought process of the kinds of people are fae clients and enemies was amazing and so sad to read and the others reactions to it made me soft. Also I really like Dee and his complicated relationship with V
director’s commentary
ahhhhh, thank you so much!!!!! i really enjoyed writing lfl—i have a heavy appreciation of magical realism fanfiction and just different magic systems, i think it’s so much fun. the magic system in lfl was almost very different: the way it was published is a combination of the book practical magic, the original inspo, and my own imagination. however, when i was plotting it, it was so close to being a bit... darker? like, practical magic never really discusses price of magic. the curse mentioned was kind of crafted in the movie, and the movie kind of ended in this coven thing (i read a summary of the movie, didn’t really watch it) but in the book, the magic is occasionally dark but it never really has a price.
i very nearly upped the price, like, a lot.
like, there’s this book, curse workers by holly black, in which when you perform magic there’s this thing called “blowback,” which is a certain toll that your magic takes on you; like, one of the curse workers is a memory worker, so they can, for example, replace your memory with someone else’s. however, when they do that, their blowback impacts their memory—so if they take someone’s memory, they lose their own memory. if you’re a healer, you can absorb the wound, and then potentially inflict it on someone else. so on.
so i was considering adding more of a price—i can’t remember exactly what i was considering, at the time.
however, when i was drafting, my fantastic artist neil (as i was writing this for the 2018 @ts-storytime, which i run now!) showed me their first bits of art, i was like, oh. oh, it’s SO cute!! and then i ended up changing the tone to what it is now—which i think worked better, anyway.
so the sort of sensory overload thing that happens in dream of a love is a bit of a personal easter egg for that, hearkening back to that particular era of drafting.
in terms of dee! that was a combination of the original work (in the og practical magic, they have “the aunts,” three old ladies who are like, mysterious and kind of ruthless and super into their own like Magic Stuff) and also, like, he was a very new character at the time i started writing practical magic, in which i was like aaaaaaaaaaa (i actually also had a plan if there was another dark side introduced in the midst of my writing, which would have aligned with gillian’s sort of subplot!) so i’m glad that you enjoyed it! i just kind of wanted to get across dee’s grief for his brother, and also his total, like, “what the fuck am i supposed to do with that” “that’s a six year old” “exactly”, and also his own protectiveness and affection for virgil, in his own way. part of me has kind of considered going back and writing a oneshot that’s more dee-centric, but we’ll see—the idea’s really vague, right now, so i’d have to wait for a plot to Come To Me or whatever.

You should do the blorbo ask game for lfls 👀
I AM KISSING YOU ON THE MOUTH, I WAS SECRETLY HOPING SOOOO HARD SOMEONE WOULD SAY LFLS
Send me a fandom and I'll assign blorbos
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most): How dare anyone make a parent choose between their children. God, who do I think about the most ... Probably still the Irish and Sicilians at the end of the day. More specifically Harry & Michele, although Charlie is also up there with Blorbo of all time.
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): Judging by how when I read HAB and IA with Jani, everytime Feli shows up we went -high pitched scream- BABY!!!! ... it's gotta be Feli.
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave): I would have said Paddy, but you really do appreciate him so ... Fabio. More love for the one person who has to be responsible because everyone else is a lunatic. Fabio is so funny and interesting and wonderfully layered, but he's doomed to be a functional character. How do you shine amongst a cast like the other five Italians.
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week): Oh, so many. I am still super infatuated with my old city OCs, which made it as state forces into LFLS. I love Ann-Lizs friends Karolina and Christoph. I cannot wait to flesh out Sören in the HAB rewrite. Shane, shared friend of Charlie, Harry and JJ, is fucking hilarious. I should definitely write more about Kevin driving Alois up the wall by being funnier than his boss. (Alois, fuming after he ran into his ex Markus with a new partner: What does Karin/Karsten have that I don't?! Kevin: Legs. Alois: HALT'S MAUL KEVIN!)
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): I don't think poor little meow meow status can be conferred by the author, this has to be done by the fandom via literary analysis and subsequent interpretation. (Not to mention that technically 80% of them are problematic faves because they're despicable criminals). So I am saying Herakles, because also in the regular Hetalia Fanfics I read, he is just ... the POOREST little meow meow. In LFLS, too, he is a fucking wet rag of a human being and I want to cuddle him. He is so pathetic. I'd die for Teenage Hera, I want to punch Grownup Hera in the face. He has the range of miserable horrid little man.
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): I thought so long about this, because is there a character I really like to torment ... I mean, I enjoy comeuppance. Every action has its equal, opposite reaction. Robert, Franci, Arthur ... I think nearly anyone could fall into this. But I am choosing to say Michele, simply because it is the right mix of comeuppance and tragedy. He was doomed since the start of his journey and deserves to fall for his actions, but what had propelled the journey was simply a broken child wanting to be 'fixed', to undo the harm done unto him. (Shoutout to Ludwig though, I still want to write a story one day where I shatter him in a million pieces, to see how he will have to reassemble himself. I think that is an experience most characters in LFLS have already gone through, but he hasn't. I need to ruin the man irreversibly and make him emerge as something entirely else.)
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell): Again, most of them at least deserve to rot in jail, if not in hell, but special shoutout to all the absolute fucking garbage human beings from the parent generation. Salvatore, Athanasios, Fritz & Annette, Fernando ... Kazimir as well. Welcome to Hell also to Ulla and Nis. Also Robin's family, Vicki's parents, Connor Higgins, the Acerbi's parents ... and many more.
