Hi! These are my TBR shelves. My goal this year has primarily been getting this down to a reasonable number. I made a rule where I can’t end a month with more on my physical TBR than I started with and right now I’m over that and I can’t read enough books before June to make up for it (my preorders this month got out of hand and I’ve been writing more than I’ve been reading).
I’m looking for suggestions on where to cull! So please, please snoop through my shelves and give me your opinions?

I got Acts of Violets by Kate Collins free from a local library and I'm losing it at this summary:
OK, I'll admit it: I, Abby Knight, actually love my hometown's corny annual Pickle Fest - and I've also been hoping the event will drum up business for my flower shop, Bloomers. But when the hired clown is found dead, the festivities screech to a halt...
SWEET OR SOUR?
Abby has been dating Marco - ex-cop, bartender, and all-around hunk - for several months when the Pickle Fest starts. But he's still a mystery to her. And after he disappears for a day, she's stunned to read in the paper: EX-COP QUESTIONED IN MAN'S DEATH. It seems the authorities have found Snuggles the Clown pushing up water-spurting daisies - and Marco was the last person seen leaving Snuggles's house.
Abby knows in her bones that he's innocent. But why, when his life is on the line, is Marco being so secretive with her? And who is the attractive woman he escorted to the Pickle Fest? To do the legwork, she'll have to delve into the eerie clown underworld, where the smiles are fake and everyone has a trick up his sleeve...

those posts and memes and videos of people saying they buy and buy books but they never read them (you know those that are like "me buying a new book: 😃, the 50 unread on my shelf looking at me: 👁️👁️. or those 100+ physical tbr booktube videos. or some bullshit like that) piss me off so much because i WISH i could afford books—the books i want to read! i read everything on my phone and all of them illegally downloaded. and no, i can't borrow books from the public library because i live at the end of the world in a small forgotten town with no local public library. i'm messing up my sight with so much screen time because i love reading while those consumerist fools can't even fathom what it's like to value things!

I worked in the morining, but despite feeling very sleepy I did a lot of reading in the afternoon. I finished Powers Of Darkness, the lost Icelandic translation of Dracula, which was very very cool. It was super interesting to read this unexpected version of one of my favourite classics. I also continued working my way through a nonfic book I have been reading on and off for the past couple of weeks. At the moment I am craving fiction books, but basically everything on my physical tbr is either a classic or non fiction, and I am not sure I have the baincells to focus on a big classic at the moment. But I also have in my plans to visit one of my favourite bookshops on the weekend since it recently got a new bigger location, so I need to find a satifying fiction book to fill my need for fiction during the week. I might borrow something from my parent's bookshelves.

I know we all love bookshopping but honestly, not buying books and focusing on finishing the ones you already own is a very nice experience, strongly recommend!

Since the other week I reorganized my shelves, and I got rid of some books, I decided to write down a list of all the books I own that I haven't read yet. I divided them in three categories: non fiction, fiction, classics from a collection I was getting weekly with newspapers (which are very pretty but of course doing that ment accumulating a pretty high number of books in a small period of time, which made my physical tbr quite big. And since they are classics I definitely go for them way more slowly than other books, which is why they are a whole separate category). If you do read the titles you'll realize my columns aren't super precise bc there's some non fic classics with the fiction, and other weird thing, but I wrote things down following the shelf division. Non fiction is clesrly a category of its own because they are the books I read less during the year, so I know that pile will get smaller in much more time, and it's okay. Overall I am pleased, because compared to the list I made at the beginning of the year there's less books, despite me having added a few new books (both new buys and gifts I got). What making this list made me realize is that 90% of these unread books were gifts, which means do not gift me books. Jokes aside I think this shows that when I am the one buying the books for myself I get things I know I will read right away, or in a short period of time. It makes sense that the unread books I accumulate are books I am gifted because they probably weren't a priority at the time. I made a small list of a few books I'd like to read before the end of the year, so we'll see how I did in a few months.
