When it comes to my mental Jane Doe designs, I keep flip-flopping between:
1. A tall and gangly redhead Raggedy Ann Jane (Inspired by Scout Graham and Jenelle Catherina, primarily)
2. A short and chubby Jane with a shaggy auburn bob that hides her big doe eyes (Inspired by Em Flosi)
3. Same as 2., but tall and gangly like 1. (inspired by Mary Jane Oken and Clare Salazar)
4. A Jane with a white bob that has patches of black near the front, freckles on her cheeks, and heterochromia. Inspired by Amy Parenteau, Hayden Howe, and Emily Reusswig)
All of them have facial cracks like Mary Jane’s does.

Bride and Prejudice is free with ads on YouTube!
youtube
Link if embed doesn't work.
As someone who has watched literally every single adaptation of Pride and Prejudice that I can get my hands on, this is my favorite version. Go watch it if you have not. It's a Bollywood version of Pride and Prejudice, what is there not to love?
(Directed by Gurinder Chadha who did Bend It Like Beckham, in case you needed an extra push)
#pride and prejudice#bride and prejudice#jane austen#gurinder chadha#legit it's my favorite guys i am not kidding go watch it#and i mean every single version of P&P i can get my hands on#the only versions i haven't watched are Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta#(but it's high on my list since Jackée Harry as Mrs. Bennet is the most INSPIRED casting choice in the history of ever)#and the P&P versions from Hallmark's Austen thing they did a few months ago#(i had really enjoyed their version of Sense and Sensibility. so i'll get around to their two P&P ones soon)#every single other adaptation of P&P you can think of is something i've probably already watched.#and THIS. this. is my favorite.#also LBD since it was the gateway drug but that's a series so yeah THIS is my favorite P&P movie adaptation#Youtube#the musical version of P&P is also currently on youtube free with ads. i don't suggest you watch that one.#i mean. if you want to watch it just so you can say you watched it. then sure. go ahead. it has some worthwhile moments.#but i personally rank it only above the dumb mormon version that amazon tricked me into watching#guys literally i've watched every. single. version. that is easily accessible and even some that are not.#AND THIS IS THE BEST ONE

Tim Drake, to me personally, is a selective genius. More accurately, he’s just an insanely fast learner when something even mildly interests him (typically something mentioned by Batman and/or Robin). Unfortunately this leads to weird and inconsistent gaps in his knowledge.
Like, for example, and referencing a post about him being unable to work computers I’ve made in the past, Tim learned all about PC hardware because Batman mentioned upgrading the Batcomputers specs once, which was then plastered across forums with the title of like “BATMAN SEEMS TO HAVE THE BUDGET OF NASA, IS THIS WHERE OUR TAX PAYER DOLLARS ARE REALLY GOING?” and Tim wanted to harness the power of the sun to create something similar. This led him down a rabbit hole, and now he can create a super computer from someone’s spare junk drawer. However, when it comes to installing software and actually using the PC beyond its basic functions? Uninteresting. The only reason he learned later on in his Robin career was because Barbra found his lack of ability to hack deeply concerning and decided to remedy it. She provided the proper motivation.
Other weird ass conversations include:
- Was able to deduce the strain of fear toxin that Damian was under, synthesize an antidote, and track Crane down to his warehouse at the Docks district within a three hour time period. (Bruce offhandedly mentioned that they should start writing down the effects of different fear toxins so that they could eventually identify which was which to make antidote administration easier, knowing it’d be an insane and labor intensive task that no one would really do because they were doing just fine currently. Tim promptly created a spreadsheet, copped the cowl footage, and got to work. He learned advanced chemistry for this, promptly bringing his barely passing grade up to an A within two months.)
- Once was able to list the entirety of Haley’s Circus lineup over the years, correctly identifying which performers had been kidnapped by the Court of Owls, yet couldn’t name a single United States president before the year of 2012. (Got embarrassingly into circus performances because y’know, Dick is his hero and so he memorized the entire history of Haley’s Circus so he’d always know who/where/what Dick was talking about when he referenced his time there)
- Word for Word reciting an obscure peace treaty for an ALIEN NATION, but wasn’t able to tell Dick what the Fibonacci sequence was. (Starfire is Tamaranian and Tim assumed that she and Dick would get married one day and he didn’t want to be insensitive so he hacked into the Green Lantern files that all the Earth Lanterns update and got to work researching. Even the stuff that only tangentially mentioned the planet and people)
#dc#batfamily#batfam#Tim Drake#red robin#Batman#robin#This also plays into the ‘I know of no personal boundaries’ bit that Tim has going on#Kid cannot be normal about anything least of all his favorite superheroes#Tim for when Jason’s been somewhat introduced back into the family read the entirety of Jane Austin’s works#He learned everything about ballet that he could for Cass#For Damian he dug so deep into the history of animal rescue and the mechanics of painting#In fact he actually learned everything he could about Goliath’s species so that he could talk to Damian about his new pet#His love language is knowing insanely detailed things about you and your hobbies#Tim ‘I can recite the entire history of this famous painter for Damian but couldn’t be bothered to make it past Calc in high school’ Drake#Tim ‘I know everything about cloning (both in human and our current knowledge of alien tech) so I can make sure Kon’s safe’ Drake#If you can’t tell I’m very much projecting#idk if this has been done before and sorry if it has but this idea has been bouncing around in my head for a while

Today at Pemberley, the 19th of November:
Preparations began for Miss Georgiana Darcy and Colonel Fitzwilliam’s imminent departure to London. Miss Georgiana packed her gowns with great specificity under the indulgent eye of Mrs. Elizabeth Darcy.
“I remember Lady Catherine herself instructing me in the method of packing gowns that you currently employee,” Mrs. Darcy mentioned to her.
Receiving a furtive look and the response, “I could not pack them any other way if I were to try. I believed so strongly when I was a child that she would know through some super human clairvoyance what I had done. Even clear across England.”
Mrs. Darcy laughed at that. “You must know now that she is woman like any other human, devoid of such unnatural powers.”
“I would not go that far,” Miss Georgiana said, glancing out the window, as if to assure herself that Lady Catherine’s carriage was not rolling up the drive.

the problem with writing the fic about Jane’s recipe blog is that I desperately want to include my real favorite recipes in it!! Which would be so fun, because I genuinely enjoy baking and cook for myself almost every night, so I have a bunch of good recipes that could work for the fic.
Unfortunately, I forget sometimes (because I only cook for two people) that my cooking is….unsettlingly allergy friendly. Yes, it’s all gluten free. Sure, every single thing can be subbed out for non-dairy alternatives, and we often make them that way! Eggs are a little bit harder, but a ton of my baking recipes can use banana or applesauce with a little baking powder as a substitute for the moisture and leavening of a genuine egg.
Just…..I forget that not everyone is dealing with 3-5 food allergies at all times when baking for themselves and their friends.
#I’m still having fun with this concept#but I’m realizing that the structure I was considering may not actually work#because I was truly going to theme this around Actual Real Recipes that Jane Is Writing About#possibly one for each month of the year#sort of a seasonal thing#with a little vignette from the polycule before each fake recipe post where she recaps the drama and then shares the actual recipe#and then maybe some of her more entertaining comments on the recipe post#like it’s still funny if there aren’t real recipes#but it’s so much funnier to me if they’re all genuinely my favorite seasonal baked goods#only all of my personal favorite recipes are actually gluten free and mostly dairy free so I can’t actually be annoying about modifications#because They Work#sugar and spikes au

So right now the fic schedule is this:
Last chapter to Even Across Distance (probably after new years, though I will try. I am just currently unwell ™️)
Second part to Jump Through the Hoops and Land On Your Feet, aka alternate ending/second chapter to You say jump, I ask how high (right into conclusions)
The Cody & Fox fic based on this post
Kesett oneshot
Fox chapters to Up that Mountain
Then it's the modern royal au and the horsegirl au, whichever I feel like writing first (also very slowly working on the next chapter to Not all is lost, I swear I am continuing that one)
#personal#my fics#sw fics#most of these are bail/breha/fox sorry not sorry ever#I'm allowed to write my otp lmao#also the horsegirl au is quickly becoming one of my favorite ideas#bc it's 90 percent of normal horse book stuff#and then the last 10 percent is fox in the background living in a jane austen novel#like he is in a COMPLETELY different genre than everyone else#good for him tho good for him lmao#sw#tcw#bail/breha/fox

Look I know Tumblr is gay af 24/7/365, and I do like the dynamic of Miguel/Peter B. as a ship. But what I DO object to is the MJ and bi erasure. I can only accept the idea that new dad and hubby Peter B. would sleep with someone other than his wife if it was in a healthy poly arrangement. Especially if it were a three-way arrangement. 😈 😁

What are your thoughts on Jane Boleyn, and the role she supposedly played in the fall of 3 Queens (Anne Boleyn, Anna of Cleves, Katheryn Howard)? Do you think she has been too maligned by historians for centuries, especially when it comes to the relationship with the Boleyns (it seems she got along with Anne)?
Now that I've read both works and compared them side by side, I suppose I would say my stance on Jane Boleyn falls somewhere in between that of Julia Fox and James Taffe ('Somewhere in between' is not, btw, Alison Weir); although closer to the former than the latter. Offering critique of both biographies, I would say that of JF is too apologetic (smoothing out wrinkles that exist in her arguments rather than acknowledging them) and JT is too severe.
Especially when it comes to the relationship with the Boleyns? Yes and no. Obviously she was married to George, she sent him a message of comfort while he was in the Tower, and wore only black the rest of her life, which was quite the potent statement. However, I would allow for the possibility that she potentially, inadvertently implicated him or AB (ie, testimony of hers was twisted to suit the crown's case). This is where I think there are flaws in the arguments of some of her defenders-- they cannot allow for even that possibility and so make claims that disallow it; some of which are untrue. 'Jane was only blamed as a means of absolving Henry in the whitewash of Elizabethan propagandists' is not true. Johannes Sleidan in 1545 claimed that Anne and George died by her 'false accusation'. Sleidan was a Reformer, so he would have been more sympathetic towards the plights of these two than the average person, and would have spoken to others that were as well, but the motivation to vindicate Elizabeth did not yet exist; she was at this point the very unlikely third in line to the throne.
I do appreciate that you said 'got along' with Anne, not 'besties', because...it's possible they were very close, certainly, but we must also allow for the possibility of animosity. The linchpin for the argument of closeness is the report from Chapuys that they 'conspired together' to banish Henry's mistress from court. Was this the precise truth? Considering the source I'm doubtful. Probably there was a lady Henry was serving at this time (although that we never have a name makes the story somewhat suppositious), but did they need to have 'conspired together' against her for Jane to be banished from court (which is what happened instead)? Jane might have merely made Anne aware of her, and Henry finding out that she'd been the source would have been enough for banishment. Or, as was presented plausibly in Adrienne Dillard's fictional rendition, Jane might have dropped hints to Cromwell that this mistress was a supporter of the two exiled and contumacious royal women that were Anne's adversaries, Cromwell might have passed this along to Henry, and Henry might have banished Jane for shattering the illusion that this woman had no independent ambitions or ulterior motives and merely let him hit for the sheer pleasure of his company.
If this was evidence of closeness, and it might be, then we also have to remember that the end result was Jane's banishment from court, and that there is, as JT fairly pointed out, no evidence that any of the Boleyns spoke in her defense, favor, or for her return. It would take an extremely magnanimous person to accept all that with equanimity and not feel any resentment whatsoever. So, if there was intimacy, there might have also been rift.
That leaves the question: enough 'rift' for her to seek vengeance? I doubt that much for all the reasons Fox outlines in her biography, but at the same time I wish there was not this relentless push to only defend women that we assert 'deserve' defense, on the premise they were entirely selfless, accepted every insult with grace, never kept any grudges, never had personal ambitions (the actions she took during the queenships of those you mentioned would suggest otherwise), mixed emotions, or conflicting loyalties; that we could acknowledge that acknowledging the agency of historic women also means acknowledging they were capable of making mistakes.
#anon#it feels like an 'overcorrection' to some degree. if that makes sense?#altho that's generally what ppl say about AB too and i generally think they're wrong lol#'waaah AB apologism waaaaahhh joanna denny wahhhhhhhhhhhh h/ayley nolan'#bitch. no one serious is taking those seriously. if joanna denny was the definitive AB bio that would be one thing#the definitive is eric ives who oh no said in his personal opinion that his favorite was more attractive in personality and appearance#than the other...oh my god that is the worst thing anyone has every said in the HISTORY OF TIME#are y'all this sensitive in real life bcus fr.#how do you bitches SURVIVE..................#anyway what i was initially going to say after coming back to this:#*ever#like the way this figure is used to have it both ways really bothers...me?#i think there's some ambiguity here but like#i read someone claim that JS must have been 'so sweet' bcus otherwise JB would not have been her lady in waiting....#which is like. be fr? if JB loved george and anne she would have hated her lol#or at the very least have been uneasy in her presence (there's a great scene with this in adrienne's sequel btw)#but like...idk man. ppl just don't seem to get how humans worked? or have any sort of emotional; media; literal; literacy?#this was my thing with BSR too 'how dare THEY say henry NEVER loved coa how dare THEY say jane was to blame for anne's miscarriage'#like right...were 'they' saying that or was anne? or was that what anne believed? was the show perhaps from her (gasp) POV and so#these things were portrayed? i mean ffs.... by our literal primary sources those were the things she said.#someone's emotions and beliefs /= infallible unassailable entire truths#nor are they necessarily 'fair' and the same with our judgements. welcome to being a human being#so yeah like re: JB....#*that she felt like that? was it entirely fair to blame and resent the seymours?#is that necessarily fair? no. how much she did or didn't was probably dependent on how accurate chapuys report was about JS#the extent to which she had disparaged anne#as for the why as JF theorized ; the need of income and the possibility that since cromwell had helped her with income#this was the favor he wanted in return (so her as a spy in the household)#and re: conflicting loyalties ; i mean ...goddamn; people are complex#i think it's entirely possible that JB loved anne but also had this innate sympathy for coa and mary too.
