who are your favorite prog rock artists
This is a little embarrassing to answer since I don't listen to a huge variety of prog artists, just like 3 who fall under the genre umbrella 🫣 that being said, my absolute favorite artist of all time is Devin Townsend. People who look at my tags on music related posts are aware of this. It's proggy less so in the expected sense of constant weird time signature shenanigans, and more so in general sonic complexity and richness of sound. Lots of instrument tracks, lots of layers. It's a through line from his most extreme speed metal projects with Strapping Young Lad into his ambient albums, and even coloring his pop-rock stuff on Addicted! and Epicloud. Out of some 30-odd albums, I love almost all of his work (excepting some earlier unpolished stuff, plus DevLab and Casualties of Cool which just don't sit with me aesthetically) and I utterly implore people to check him out. Every project besides SYL has his name on it so it's not too difficult to hunt down. But aside from that, my taste is super basic: Rush and Yes were my intros to the genre and I still listen occasionally (send this question 4 years ago and i'd have infodumped about 2112 instead lmao), plus I've been trying to get into King Gizzard but have only really resonated with Nonagon Infinity so far. That's basically it, though. Thanks for the ask! :)
also idk if it's going to show up once this is posted but as im typing up my response this ask format is FUCKED. check it out:

no clue why that happened, it looked normal in my inbox. lol. well thanks again for the question!

Hello! May I receive an Obey Me! matchup? :)
To start off, I’m in my 20s. My pronouns are they/them, AFAB and genderfluid! My sexuality is panromantic and acespec, and love me some fictional men. <3 My star sign is Taurus and MBTI type is INFP.
Also I’m AuDHD, have PSTD and am a bit of an introvert.
For appearances, I’m 5’4 (cries) with medium length darkish brown hair in the style of a shaggy mullet, light warm toned skin and a mid size body type. And I’m nearsighted AF so I use glasses.
I tend to dress in very fem fashion most times. My style fluctuates between goth aesthetic and the pink cutesy aesthetic, which is always hilarious to see people’s baffled reactions when one day I’m dressed fully in black then the next day where a very pink and sanrio themed outfit. 🤭
Funny that a lot about me fluctuates either from one or the other, I’m so bad with decision making that it’s literally engrained in me lol. This goes for my taste in music as well!
It’s between nu metal and goth rock to chill lo-fi and melodic instrumental! but game soundtracks and music that’s like jack stauber (music you probably hear in a lot of those weirdcore and liminal spaces videos lol) is something I listen to as well!
I’m pretty quiet, get anxious easily (even though I tend to hide it but can still be seen through pacing back and forth a lot eugh). I’m excitable with things I love, though I get scared because my own excitement makes me ramble too much so I try to hold back a lot unless I’m comfortable with the person and am confident they won’t get annoyed or if they ever need a break they could let me know!
I do digital art in my free time and writing storylines and plots to OCs and personal projects probably for most of the day because I love it too much… also, I’m a gamer too! But I have huge preferences for indie horror and cozy games. Horror games with heavy topics like The Cat Lady, and cozy games like Stardew Valley! Also, don’t ever ask me to tell you the FNAF lore I will legit spend hours explaining and adding layers of theories. It’d drive people insane. 🧍
I LOVVEE cozy clothing like oversized sweaters, cold weather, SLEEPING even though I have a hard time doing so, and I’m a huge foodie! I like trying foods from all culture and try new things! :)
I HAATTEE overly bright lights, it sends me into a panic!! The feeling of rubbery squishy food, my autistic butt will die on the spot. 😭 Being ignored is something I can’t stand, I’d probably cry lol. Same effect if I get yelled at.
Okay that’s about it, thank you !! 💕💕
Hi Anon! Thank you for your request! Sorry it took so long. I hope you like your matchup!
In Obey Me, I match you with...
Tumblr media
Satan is a good person for you to be around, both platonically and romantically.
He's great at helping you with your AuDHD and PTSD. Since he's read so much, he knows a variety of different ways he can help and will tailor those to suit your specific needs.
He will lend you his sweaters! He thinks you look cute wearing them and they're just the right type of oversized. He'll leave one laying around for you every day so if you want to wear one, you can.
Very attentive. You never feel like you're being ignored when Satan's around. He values your opinion and finds everything you have to say interesting.
Will never yell at you. He knows he can be volatile sometimes so if he thinks there's a chance he might snap and yell at you, he'll let you know and will keep some distance between you until he calms down. The last thing he wants is to make you feel uncomfortable.

Hey! What a surprise, that's awesome! My family needs to get it together haha we don't even have the tree up yet 🤦‍♀️ I see you're a writer, and that plus the library trip leads me to assume you're a reader? What're some of your favorite books? What are you currently reading? I like to read to! My favorite series is Lemony Snicket's All the Wrong Questions series, and I'm currently reading Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson.
I listened to Night at the Opera all the way through, and I liked it a lot! It has so many different colors and styles, and it was a really interesting listen! I really liked You're My Best Friend (which is one of favorite Queen songs all around), Death on Two Legs, and '39. The vocal stacking in The Prophet's Song was really cool, and I can't even imagine how long it must have taken to record and mix all that. It's super cool that your grandparents are bringing records! Original pressings are always the best :D I think you giving me recs is a good idea haha there defiantly is a lot! I'll look at the greatest hits, and let you know!
My favorite bands/artists are Elton John and The Beatles! I had sort of the same experience with Elton in terms of getting into him. I was familiar with some of his stuff and then all of a sudden I was obsessed haha With The Beatles, I knew a little bit, but I got really into them after watching the Get Back documentary with my mom.
I hope you have a good day :D
~ ✨
Honestly, don't worry about it. Last year we didn't have the tree up until about a week before Christmas 😂 I suppose I am technically a writer lol, although I haven't in a while. And you would be correct, I do love to read! Some of my favourite books are Flowers For Algernon, Good Omens, A Clockwork Orange, and 9 Billion Names of God. I like a lot of older sci-fi! Currently, I'm reading a book called The Mote in God's Eye. It's a really cool sci-fi book from 1974, it has a lot of amazing world building and politics in it. My dad has a huge collection of sci-fi he got in college in the 90s, and I'm really enjoying them! The cool thing is that he got a lot of them used, so the copy I'm currently reading is actually from 1974! :D
You're so right, there is a lot of variety in ANATO! That's something I like about Queen- because all the members had different writing styles and music tastes, their albums were really diverse! I love your song choices, I really like all of those. You're My Best Friend is a wonderful song- since you liked that, I'd say listen to You and I (it's on A Day at the Races). It was also written by John and is a bit more musically complex- I think it might be my favourite song from that album. Death on Two Legs is also a really good song. It has a lot of heavier rock elements, I think. For now, I recommend listening to Ogre Battle, Tie Your Mother Down, Modern Times Rock'n'Roll, Great King Rat, Flick of the Wrist, and Stone Cold Crazy. I'm so happy to hear you like '39! That's one of my favourite Queen songs of all time. Something I think is really interesting is that while Brian wrote a lot of Queen's heavier sounding rock songs, (in the 70s) he also fairly consistently had a sort of more quiet sounding song. Some of his more mellow ones are Some Day One Day, Long Away, Leaving Home Ain't Easy, Sail Away Sweet Sister, and All Dead All Dead. My apologies for giving you so many songs, although I do hope you find some you enjoy!
I haven't listened to too much Elton John music I must say. Some, of course, but I never really dived deeper into his discography. However, I do love The Beatles! I've been listening to them since I was very young, so I think some of their music also has that nostalgia factor. Funnily enough, I also watched Get Back with my mum! It was really interesting to see how all that happened.
I also hope you have the most wonderful day. Until next time, Sparkles! <3

#TIME FOR HOLIDAY MUSIC IN OCTOBER BABEY!!!!#a different style from above but probably the BEST holiday song I've heard so far is 'christmas time is here again' by the flirtations#second best ... probably... funky christmas by the whipsers .. and then idk.. I kind of like silent night? in terms of more traditional song#i also really like the melody of 'simply having a wonderful christmas time' by whoever wrote it lol but I mostly listen to covers of#it and remixes and stuff rather than the original song?? hence me not even really knowing who it's originally by lmao#i dont talk about music much since 1. it's not a deep part of my life or extremely emotional or important to me and 2. every friend i have#ever known makes fun of me for something about my taste in music  but ... i do in fact... enjoy holiday music generally lol#i am not religious and don't celebrate christmas and am critical of many elements of it istelf but.. just the music??? great#and also decor.. it's my favroite holiday just because i LOVE cold and i love snow and i love pretty lights and stuff#strictly aesthetically speaking i am a christmas fool by proxy given that i am a massive winter fool and am extremely into everything about#the aesthetic of winter so christmas being so tied into winter imagery often makes me like it as well#but for the music it's mostly because i just like upbeat music. i like a huge variety of music but one of the only common threads i can find#between things is it's usually all pretty upbeat and energetic in a positive or neutral way#like things with trumpets and good beats even if the lyrical content is sometimes like sad or something as long as the underlying music iste#lf is kind of upbeat and etc. i'll probably like it. and of course most holiday music has a more celebratory upbeat-ish mood to it#especially when redone in the above and similar styles which instantly makes any song 50x better#though this video in particualr is more just a vague medley type of thing and not any real specific song and not the best thing on earth#(i just chose this one to share bc i like the way it opens lol) but still... fantastic.. goode... mood#upbeat holiday music is my soundtrack immeidately the second it gets even vaguely cold outside#fall but mostly winter are my favorite times of year and even if i conceptually dislike a majority of the holidays around that time#i still get into them anyway just to find reasons to do themed stuff because.. idk.. the only time of year i can enjoy anything.. before the#Hell Heat Of Doom starts again and i rot back into a puddle#christmas mention#idk do you have to tag for that?? like for the type of people who hate any mention of holiday before they happen ? (i despise it from a#like anti-consumerist anti capitalist sense and dislike the bastardization of holidays for profit but.. it doesnt bother me to hear individu#als talking about the holidays. just large stores advertsising too early and etc. but idk i know it can bother some people

have you ever read a detailed post about the glee cast’s singing voices? like all about their technique and stuff? reading your reaction to the ‘vocal coach reacts to glee’ video makes me want to know more!
Hmmmm, not really! Not from a professional vocalist POV, I don’t think.  (That I’m aware of.  This does remind me there was one vocal coach in fandom, and she hated Blaine, and I wasn’t too fond of her, or her analysis, so I won’t point you in that direction.)
My background is in music, but not in vocal performance.  But I can give you a quick rundown of cast’s musical abilities if you like, though they won’t be huge on the technical side of it.
ETA: I started this a while ago before I started doing the music retrospective - I’ll probably try to explore a little more as I do those.   If you guys want more conversation about one person in particular, let me know!
But for now...
*
Matthew Morrison: Is a classically trained musician with a very good voice.  It’s a shame Will was such a tool, because Matthew Morrison was very talented, had the ability to do a lot of great things with his voice.  People joke about his rapping -- but I think this stemmed from the issue that his background is in musical theater -- which teaches you a cleaner and more traditional way of singing -- opposed to a pop or rap style.  He doesn’t have the grit that rap often has, which makes it a little too much like a Kid’s Bop version of something.  When singing musical theater, though, he really shined.
A number that showcases ability: Make ‘Um Laugh
A number that isn’t so great: Ice Ice Baby
*
Lea Michele: Lea does have a very good and solid voice.  She’s also been classically trained.  The one drawback is that it hinders her a bit on pop music, she lacks some of the grittiness often needed on a lot of the pop songs.  She also starts to lose some of her classic training as the show goes on (which I think is a shame) so that she can get some of the shine off her voice to make a transition to pop music.
She has one vocal tick that drives me crazy, though -- she has a tendency to slide into her notes instead of hitting them dead on, which gets worse as the show goes on, and it makes her sound a little screech-y at times.  But for the most part -- she is really good.
A number that showcases ability: Don’t Rain on My Parade
A number that isn’t so great: Ooops...I Did It Again
*
Amber Riley: The cool thing about Amber is that you get to hear her grow as a musician as the show goes on.  She had already started to get vocal lessons before the show started, but at the beginning, she was still a bit raw and unrefined in her technique.  But you can tell she did practice, and her voice is developed beautifully as the show goes on.  She was one of the best, well rounded vocalists on the show.  She had a good handle on pop and R&B music, but she could sing musical theater rather clearly, too.  She has great breath support - and can belt numbers out while still retaining the quality.  Can’t say enough good thing about Amber’s voice.
A number that showcases ability: Someday We’ll Be Together
A number that isn’t so great: Sweet Transvestite (It’s not bad - but it’s my least favorite Mercedes solo.)
*
Cory Monteith: Cory wasn’t a vocalist.  And, to be completely honest, I thought it was some kind of joke when they introduced him as some kind of hidden musical gem when Will hears him singing the showers.  He did really well with classic rock that’s allows not only for a weaker voice - but is often not as technically hard.  And I have to wonder if Cory got lessons, because he did get a lot better as the show went on, and I think his season 4 work is great!
I will say that sometimes they pushed his voice a little too far.  A lot of times songs were either too high for his range and he often sounded like he was straining.  (The most notable of which is A House is Not a Home - which is far too high for him.)  That said - I think he did reasonably well along side Lea - mostly because often sang pop duets.
A number that showcases ability: I’ve Gotta Be Me
A number that isn’t so great: Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore
*
Chris Colfer: Chris is such an interesting study due to the uniqueness of his voice.  He’s got a huge range both in terms of genre and literal range of voice.  He can sing quite a few octaves.  He’s got a great, clear sound, too, which is why he’s great with theater numbers.  Interestingly, Chris’s voice did drop over the years, and while I know people love his higher range, he has a gorgeous lower range that wasn’t used as often (and is often my favorite.)
The one (nitpicky) issue was that Chris’s voice ended up getting pigeon-holed.  I know singing Diva-Broadway songs was his schtick - but it would have been nice to hear him sing a bigger variety of songs.  He wasn’t the strongest on non-ballad pop music, but they also didn’t give him that very often.
There’s also the fascinating unusualness in that, Chris could really sing duets very well with people -- but in group numbers, his voice sticks out like a sore thumb, and he was often left out of some of the more general songs because of it.  His voice just doesn’t texture very well - which is why I get why they did what they did.
A number that showcases ability: Being Alive
A number that isn’t so great: I’ll Remember
*
Kevin McHale: I feel like people are often surprised when they sit down and think about it, but Kevin has a great voice.  He has a solid range, and he’s able to do pop music very well (I believe it helps that he was in a professional boy band for years.)  Not sure if people noticed - but he’s often the lead on group numbers that don’t need to be related to specific story or character points.  Which is a bummer for Artie’s story - but if you’re a fan of Kevin’s voice, you get a lot to choose from.
Kevin was also able to handle a lot of the musical demands that I think some of the other males weren’t? He’s a much better singer than Cory - and could handle leading a full number.  His voice isn’t as unique as Chris’s and can texture really well.  In addition he was fairly versatile.  He might have been the best rapper the show had, lol.
A number that showcases ability: For Once In My Life
A number that isn’t so great: Addicted to Love (personal taste choice - I just don’t like the song.)
*
Jenna Ushkowitz: Jenna is another one who is classically trained.  She has a strong, solid voice, which was unfortunately not showcased all that well on the show, and because of that, I’m not sure how she does on a wide variety of music.  I do think she sounds a little generic - but not helping is lack of being featured.
A number that showcases ability: I Don’t Know How To Love Him
A number that isn’t so great: Gangum Style (She does fine - but the fact that they made her do it in the first place...)
*
Dianna Agron: The interesting thing about Dianna is that she has a really nice low female voice.  The fact that they never gave her any punk or harder rock was really a shame, because I think she would have done really well with that.  The funny thing is that, more so in the beginning, they show tried to make her sing songs that fit her character - but weren’t necessarily great for her voice.  I feel like it wasn’t until late season 2 did they start really using her voice for the better.
A number that showcases ability: Never Can Say Goodbye
A number that isn’t so great: It’s A Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World
*
Mark Salling: Mark had a really solid voice - that often lent itself well to folk and acoustic really well.  He was good with softer pop and classic rock, and the show showcased that pretty well.  I think, in general, Mark was a much better vocalist than actor, and the show often picked good music for him to sing - which helped with his character.  I don’t have a whole lot to say, only that I think he was underrated as a vocalist, but I get it - with all the other baggage that comes with talking about Mark.
A number that showcases ability: No Surrender
A number that isn’t so great: Fight For Your Right (to Party) (I don’t think it’s bad - I just hate this song.)
*
Naya Rivera: Naya is a little tricky.  I think she has a good, smoky sound to her voice that makes her excellent at things like pop and R and B.  (Shame she didn’t have a good jazz number to do on the show - she would have been great at that.)  I think she was really versatile, though, and handled her Broadway numbers really well.  I do think she was somewhat pinched and nasal at times - and while I do think this was a stylistic choice, to me it’s not my favorite type of vocal sound.  But I do think she was really good at the numbers she was given, and was one of the most talented female vocalists on the show.
A number that showcases ability: Back to Black
A number that isn’t so great: Alfie (I think I may dislike the song more than her singing on it.)
*
Heather Morris: Heather wasn’t a singer, and I do think it showed at times.  She often had to have her voice autotuned more than anyone else on the show.  That said - she did do Britney Spears really well, and I think she deserves credit for that.
A number that showcases ability: I’m a Slave 4 U
A number that isn’t so great: Dinosaur
*
Chord Overstreet: Chord’s background is in country - and that shows a bit through his singing - he’s got a bit of twang in his voice, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing.  He’s a fun singer.  I don’t think the show knew exactly what to do with him (voice or character) but there’s a lightness to his singing that makes him easily adaptable to pretty much anything you throw at him.
A number that showcases ability: Red Solo Cup (You think I’m joking - but I think this is the most fun Chord has singing a song.)
A number that isn’t so great: Girls on Film (I think just by default of me liking everything else better.)
*
Darren Criss: Ah, Darren, where to even start.  The thing about Darren is that he may not be the strongest singer, his voice is a little wobbly at times, and his range is somewhat limited, but his showmanship is just completely beyond nearly everyone else.  Darren has the unique ability to draw you in with his singing and hold you captive.  There are technically better singers on the show - but Darren just has this amazing ability to really sell a performance.  And I do love his voice, even if there are some limitations to it.  I really could gush about Darren’s performance abilities, but I’ll refrain...
A number that showcases ability: Teenage Dream (Both Versions)
A number that isn’t so great: Piano Man (Which isn’t bad - I just think the show had done it better, and it’s a rare time that felt like Darren was kind of phoning it in.)
*
A quick run down of others, but first a quick aside - as they started adding people in, vocal ability starts being a factor.  I think a lot of the newer characters could sing better than they could act, which was both helpful and a hinderance.  I think we began to get more solid musical numbers as the show went on, but sometimes acting wasn’t always top notch - and across the board, old and new, hitting a combo of acting and singing ability didn’t always happen.
Harry Shum Jr.: Not really a singer - but the show often played to his strengths, and his few songs played off the fact that he wasn’t a great singer to great aplomb.
Jane Lynch: Can hold a tune, even if her voice isn’t the best - is really great at musical comedy.
Jayma Mays: She has more singing ability than the show allowed to showcase, however, she’s another one whose voice was really unique, and doesn’t texture very well.
Damien McGinty: Is actually a very good singer.  However, he’s very generic, too - which makes him a little on the bland side.
Sam Larsen: I think he was fine - I don’t think he sang enough on the show for me to make much of an impression one way or the other.
Alex Newel: Fucking Fantastic! Alex might be one of the strongest vocalists on the show - has great range, energy, and vocal control.
Melissa Benoist: Her voice tends to lean on the pop-ier side, but it’s a solid voice, and her work on the show was pretty good.
Jacob Artist: Has a strong voice, and could sing genres that weren’t often featured on the show (like hip-hop and R&B).
Blake Jenner: His voice is fine, but like Damien McGinty, it’s generic and a little bland.
Becca Tobin: She has a very quirky voice that brings in a different and unique sound.  They didn’t use her much, though, so it’s hard to comment.
Noah Guthrie: An amazing singer, has a really unique sound, but is able to do blend in well with others.
Samantha Ware: Another amazing singer.  She’s in full control and can do really great things with it.
Billy Lewis Jr: Has a good, solid voice.  Not as strong as Guthrie, or some of the other guys, but he’s a lot of fun to watch.
Laura Dreyfuss: Like Becca Tobin - has a uniqueness to her vocal quality that makes it stand out a little, but she’s still a solid singer.
Marshall Williams: His vocal ability is okay.  It’s better than his acting ability.  I’m slightly confused how this dude got cast, tbh.

For some reason I picture in my head a reformed Regulus just verbally eviscerating muggle music. He swears up and down that it’s not about bigotry (it kinda is since reform takes a long ass while), because he doesn’t like artists like Celestine war beck in my head. (He finds her lyrics to be gag worthy and her voice nothing extraordinary). (1)
(2) so he’s going on this rant about music to a friend while the muggle radio is in the background (as he’s reformed), and right when he proclaims that he doesn’t think there will be a single singer, muggle or magical, that would impress him, Mariah Carey sings one of her insanely difficult notes bc it’s one of her songs on the radio and he’s like 😳 Because while I’ve never been a die hard fan, I always felt her voice was one of a kind?
(3) so he’s grudgingly like ‘I stand corrected, who is this?’ And he grows to find the lyrics of her songs cheesy but damn she can SING. (If you listen to her early 90s stuff it’s like woooooooooow).
Love love love this! First of all, yes, definitely, I think Regulus would be a huge snob about wizarding vs. muggle culture. I think even when he's mostly reformed he would cling to the idea that wizarding music is more refined and high art and he'd listen to like, the trashiest muggle pop songs and scoff and feel superior.
I like the idea of Regulus begrudgingly admitting that Mariah Carey, despite her cheesy lyrics, is talented (she does have some pipes on her). I also like to imagine a muggleborn playing muggle music for him but not telling him it's muggle music and tricking him into liking some of it lol.
There's also just the sheer volume of muggle music in comparison to wizarding music...it might take some digging, but I'm sure he would find plenty that's to his taste. There's not even a performance art school in the entire wizarding world (at least in the 1930's), we clearly have the upper hand in variety and production of fine arts.

"bad love" album thoughts! 👾👽💫
I'm sitting in my purple hovercar, not paying attention to eclectic crowd rushing around me. flashing lights from the billboards above cast odd swirling patterns onto my neon-rimmed eyes and I pull my patent leather jacket closer around me, shivering slightly as the cold started to seep into the idling vehicle. they hadn't found me yet, but that didn't mean they weren't looking...no - I couldn't think about that. focus. I took in a deep breath. I needed to keep the intrusive thoughts at bay. "hey, can you play some music?" awakening at the sound of my voice, the console thought for a minute. "no problem. now playing - bad love"
bad love: bwbbwzzzzwbwwzzzbbwwwzz DADADA DADADA DUDUDU DUHDUHDUH!! *INTENSE SYNTH HEADBANGING* oh man that’s an intro! yesss love the driving journey-esque beat! For the first twenty seconds I was super into this song but then the pre-chorus hits :( that beat comes to a screeching halt and it’s such an empty space after those awesome synths. The chorus is also something I’m trying to like…it’s just too much going on bro, there’s one vocal line too many for my taste :( the bridge is ok though. I reeeeally wanted to like this, but unfortunately it’s just middling to me. mv is AMAZING though!!
yellow tape: super intense right from the start, heavy-hitting beats and reverbing synths add a darker tone to this. I like the “breath in, breath out”, it adds a really nice texture! overall, I do like the vibe, it’s just a little…loud? piercing? for my taste…wanna race a car to this song though
hate that – really enjoyed this song when it came out a few weeks ago and here it’s a welcome reprieve from the intensity of the previous songs. taeyeon adds a wonderful flavor this song, which could’ve easily turned bland with less emotive singers. she blends in wonderfully with key, who also brings some nice vocal variety here!
Helium – did I suddenly start playing a tame impala song lol? oh sheet that bass is rather slinky isn’t it…😏 having lyrics I can fully understand is turning this into a new experience. oh hold on…that part that starts at 0:45…uhm…ok sir…also that part after the first chorus…yeahhhhh that’s secsii lol. oh wow I like that harmonizing part in the bridge! ok yeah this is a vibe! I’m feeling it!
saturday night – a little bit more of a modern vibe here…snappy chorus! hmmm something about this sounds very familiar to dua lipa’s “break my heart”…same chord motifs it sounds like? it definitely brings in the disco vibes!
eighteen (end of my world) – mmmm yes like the movement in that intro there…the soft snaps and the deep thrumming bass in the intro add some very nice texture to key’s vocals here, which are very interesting! I like how soaring and huge the chorus sounds…also really love the electronic synth that’s carried through the entire song. this sounds so…wistful? I need to look up some translations! ooh that’s such a pretty ending :’)
overall: I did like most of the songs here, though…there was nothing that “wowed” me, which tbh I’m a teeny bit disappointed about. but it sounds very clean and polished, also very cohesive as a concept (which I am LIVING FOR), and I’m also so happy key was able to put out the product that he wanted! I’ll mull this over a bit as I suspect it will grow on me a lot more :)

What games do you enjoy?
Ah heck I never answered this did I. I have kind of a varied taste tbh and it’s whatever catches my interest.
Game series I’ve kept up with are:
Rusty Lake, I’ve played every one of them and I’m anxiously awaiting the next. Most of them I’ve replayed at least once. I love them for being surreal spooky and for their weird puzzles.
Professor Layton, I’ve played all but vs Ace Attorney (which I own, but I lost it :() and Mystery Journey, which I also own but simply haven’t started yet. I’ve watched The Eternal Diva as well but idk where to get ahold of any manga, and I don’t want to watch the anime until I’ve played Mystery Journey. I love those for the huge variety of puzzles (I try to complete the puzzle index + mini games and daily downloads in every game, although there’s a few that still have me stumped) and for the wonderful stories and characters.
And Pokemon, I’ve completed the story for Diamond and X, and got about halfway through Platinum and Black. I had some of the older games too but I never got far. And I have several of the spin-off games, some of my faves are the little adventure and care ones likes Pokepark and Pokemon Channel actually, or at least they were when I was younger, as lame as that may sound lol.
I love Animal Crossing a lot too, and New Horizons is the only one I don’t have. But it’s one of those games I play a lot for like a week and then drop it for like a year.
And recently I’ve been working on Hollow Knight and in Ori and the Will of the Wisps, they have similar gameplay styles. I really like the art, music, and characters! I can play those for hours, there’s a lot to explore and they can be pretty challenging!
And Minecraft is a huge one for me, I can play it all day. I mostly like exploring and building houses, and taming every animal I find.
And plenty of others too, NSR and AHIT are big fandoms for me but I havent actually played the games yet - but after falling in love with the characters and stories I got the games and want to play them soon! The TLDR is I like games with puzzles, adventure, great art and music, and wonderful lovable stories and characters.

suband thoughts pt. 4
i didn’t publish part 3 because it got ugly in there but i still want to number things properly in case i want to ever go back to them in the future
i’m writing this after round 4 so we just got over the last round of individual eliminations, there’s now 6 fixed teams which will go onto the quarterfinal? semifinal? round where each team gets to perform 2 songs after that 2 teams will be eliminated and we will be left with the final 4
so this post will also include spoilers because i HAVE to talk about the final 6 teams omg
i can’t believe the show is almost over?!! i’m salty as hell for jtbc to end up with the same number of people as last year (27) despite eliminating less up until now, i thought maybe they wanted to have fixed 5 member teams since the first season ended with both 4 and 5 members teams so i was hoping that might be the reason why they were deciding to keep more around but nope we get to the end and they just had a huge 13 contestant elimination right before semis instead
i guess keeping more people around throughout the show is good for the musicians to gain more publicity but it hurts like hell to get eliminated right after the big rounds esp if you kinda knew that you’d be a goner because the judges have specific tastes that you don’t match anyways (just always getting criticism from them each stage cannot be fun omg), but maybe i’m just pessimistic lol i think most appreciate the extra time to perform and bond with other artists
my thoughts post pt. 3 was a big rant which is why i decided to not post it but a good chunk was on how i HATE HATE HATE the judging style of this season and it’s the reason why i’m having a harder time getting invested into the contestants on this season and the music they’re doing bc the judges have a very set standard on what they want and you can feel it while watching and that’s such a turn off to me
like my sister and i guessed eliminations after the ep that aired last monday (9/6) so we didn’t even get to watch all of round 4 stages but based off of judges preferences we guessed 11 out of the 13 they eliminated right, one mistake was we just let all the bassists pass by default since there’s only 5 of them but they ended up eliminating one (moon seonghyuk...) and the other one was nokdu who we like and didn’t want to eliminate sakfhjskdhf but we kinda knew it wouldn’t be possible to keep him because we basically eliminated all the “good” band combos for him so we were just like well fuck i guess he’s gone but we didn’t have the heart to cross out his name in our screenshot LMAO
so next point. nokdu was robbed i hate you (@ the judges) i can’t believe they were having a great time watching his stage and then just umm yea ok 93 :/ like?? excuse me??? i already knew from that that he’s most likely gone but i still didn’t want to face it ugh they should’ve kept him like the band variety now is lowkey stale (aka the variety is almost nonexistent and i’ll talk about that later in the post) let me just continue being sad about my city pop band for a moment longer
ok but my growth from the first episode where i said i didn’t like any of the vocalists (other than the two i knew already) and me just becoming a big nokdu fan like i don’t even like city pop that much tbh but i just really found myself enjoying his voice while watching all his stages like they were so wrong to tell him to stick to producing/they want to see him more as a producer than a main singer in his audition like let the man sing
nokdu and hyunsang should’ve stayed together for this last stage i’m so sad i don’t know if it would’ve saved either of them tbh but i could only hope? imagine forever young team reunion with whoever else they wanted for their last person ahhh even if they go at least we’d get one last fun banger but nokdu junseo combination was good too
and danny koo..i cried...i’m so upset that classical instruments got the “talk to the hand” treatment even more on this season than the last, i love the violin and danny’s energy is just so!! it makes me so happy!! i knew this would’ve happened eventually but it still makes me sad
i can’t talk about every individual person who got eliminated so those were my personal fallen favorites but other than that i want to talk about is davii (and i guess in a similar vein, valo) because i felt the judges did him so dirty like every time he tried to do anything and work with their feedback he always got hit with the “sounds like something’s missing here” or “doesn’t seem like you suit the team” and i don’t know but that feedback hurt me??? lmao??? honestly after a while i just felt like it just boiled down to them not liking his voice tbh (reminds me of his audition where they kept probing him about if he really wants to be a vocalist on this show or just a producer...this already showed they would rather him not sing huh....), they mentioned it multiple times how his voice is more r&b style and it’s true his voice is a lot softer than others on the show so he doesn’t reach those same piercing high notes you find in rock music but that doesn’t mean that something’s missing from him....it makes me even more sad that he went on this show because he felt lonely just composing on his own but the judges kept telling him he doesn’t fit in
valo honestly got the same dj treatment as the first season, he got a lot of critical comments too just because the judges don’t like edm and his specific “instrument” rather than him doing anything terrible (cue another dj, ludi, randomly getting eliminated in whichever round for no reason) which i still don’t understand!!! djs are cool and sound fine in a band environment imo and not to mention the ones on this season can play a variety of different instruments too like what’s not to like??! totally predictable that they only kept one dj around just like last season but i still hate that
back to topic of the judges being very specific about what type of music/bands they deem good ruining the band variety in the final 6...if you look at it, they’re all more rock orientated, i would say they’re all in similar styles to either people on the bridge or purple rain of last season which is so funny now that i think about it? like last season only 2 out of the 6 bands were rock focus and now it’s like the total opposite lol
with j.una’s team being the most different out of the 6 if i had to compare maybe they’ll be similar to hoppipolla? (probs due to the strings since his team is full guitars, mostly acoustic) and kitak’s team have potential to be quirky mone but we need to hear their originals first since they haven’t done any yet so for now i’d consider them people on the bridge category so yea...i’m a little disappointed about this and i guess teams can still pivot into different styles in semis but this is based off of the music they performed together so far
even though the styles of the teams are similar i still think the lineups are balanced, like yea we don’t have too much variety going on but i will give them the fact that they did make some very good bands:
j.una (vocalist, guitar), jang haeun (classical guitar), kim jinsan (guitar), jung minhyuk (elec guitar)
yang jang semin (bass), kim hangyeom (vocalist, guitar), jung seokhoon (elec guitar), jo kihun (drums), kim junseo (piano)
willy k (elec guitar), vince (vocalist), cyan (bass), danny lee (drums), oh eunchul (piano)
shin kitak (vocalist, guitar), lim yoonsung (vocalist, trumpet), byun jeongho (bass), kim seulong (drums)
leenzy (vocalist), jung nayoung (elec guitar), eun ahkyung (drums), hwang hyunjo (dj/producer)
kim yeji (vocalist), park daul (geomungo), hwang leen (elec guitar), hwang inkyu (bass), jeon seongbae (drums)
as a lover of purple rain it’s time to accept crackshot back into my heart (especially with the added addition of eunchul like hello?!), i truly did love all their stages but each time i wanted them to experiment so bad with other contestants and it made me upset to see them together again and again when they are an existing band already so they can easily just get back together outside of the show but i think willy k mentioned on someone’s ig live (was it nokdu’s?) that they stuck together at first since no one wanted to do rock in the first round so they naturally got left behind and decided to just stick it out together so i guess it couldn’t be helped...and the judges LOVED their first stage so i think they just continued working together bc they got good feedback
after hearing that and thinking about it more...i think the other contestants were really too scared to pick them individually....maybe since their “crackshot color” was too strong others didn’t want to pick them apart/try to work with it...so now i’m actually a lil sad about that....
crackshot have, individually, very good players and a lot of the other contestants enjoy a similar style to theirs so i don’t think they would’ve had too many problems on different teams considering the rock heavy influence of this season (round 1 was def just strange because jtbc forced teams into different genres randomly) but it just never fully happened i guess but at least cyan got to do some things and willy k found oh eunchul who he calls his music soulmate which is very cute!! if eunchul doesn’t officially join their band i hope they still do gigs together
next up i have to talk about yeji’s team like they are so fucking sexy like kinda obsessed with their lineup even though i’m sad hyunjo isn’t with them anymore, i did really like hwang leen’s old team which was him with inkyu and seongbae (i thought this would be his set team since they stayed together for 2 rounds) so now it’s crazy to see them back together again along with yeji and daul! like their ceiling is so high
like my og biases where already strong so i knew yeji and demian would be my woosung of this season but like bias aside yeji’s team??? actually so hot like i love that for her omg she was experimenting a lot and made so many different teams that i didn’t know what she’ll end up with for her permanent team but i love this a lot ahhh kinda scared i feel like i need to lower my expectations because i’m over the moon with this lineup right now lol
hyunjo has the biggest brain so i trust her move and i think it works out best for the two teams since leenzy’s team definitely needs her there more and way more suitable for their dynamic than the two guys, leenzy’s core 3 have already worked together (and the song was an original too!) so you kinda already have an idea about what they do together but hyunjo added in is interesting, i wonder how she’ll mesh and how it’ll change their sound
also super interested to see how junseo slots into yang jang semin’s team since this would be the first time they perform together (his team stayed as their round 4 team and adopted junseo after the rest of his team got eliminated) i think by now you know how i feel about keys in rock so yes always happy to have another pianist here
i’ve said this so many times already but once again i’m happy for my girl haeun!! since she plays classical guitar i was worried she’d get left behind since she’s grouped with the classical musicians (tbh even acoustic guitars got left behind this season...) but this team came through!! she seems so happy with them and thankful for j.una for putting them together even though everyone was skeptical of his team at the beginning lol they’re a very sweet team and their dynamic is cute and homely, minhyuk introducing haeun to guitar amps and helping her find one that suits her classical guitar is one of my favorite moments of the show asjhfjdksf
kitak’s team...pls every time i see them on screen i just...second hand embarrassment...this energy is too much for me sajfkhsjdksd they’re so!!!!! (i mean this lovingly of course) jeongho’s been my pinned since the show started so obviously big fan and i’m sure some of you have seen my deranged posts about him every now and then if not you are absolutely lucky i hope if stays that way for you LMAO but i also like everyone in their team too and you know kitak’s voice has grown on me so much
but i’m oddly not on board 100% with their band sound atm which is surprising? they have everything i could ever want in a band so i don’t know what’s not clicking for me so i’m waiting to see what style they come out with for their original song (the judges specifically asked about it so i think they’ll perform one for sure) omg but my sister said they remind her of a christian rock band or just a band of boys that met at church together is that why pls that has me crying asjhfusdhfs
summing it up with what’s been shown so far, my projected favorites (music wise) are yeji’s team and crackshot + eunchul team but i’m always excited for everyone how can you not be! idc if they do covers or originals like hoppipolla and purple rain performed only covers for their semis and finals stages so you don’t have to show an original, just show ur color well through arrangement and song choice
but lowkey with the judges asking for an original from kitak’s team....yea maybe we’ll have more originals being performed this year
i think that’s all for this thoughts post it ended up being longer than i thought because i rambled as always 🤠
randomly ending this with my final-but-not-really favs list, my top 4 have been the same the entire season but the rest fluctuates and i added on so many people throughout the season omg
my entire heart: yeji, demian, jeongho, haeun
i like you: daul, hwang leen, nokdu, hyunsang, eunchul, hyunjo, danny koo
yes: crackshot, kitak, seulong, nayoung, inkyu, minhyuk, hyukjin, valo
will eunchul make it to the first tier after semis? stay tuned and find out
actually daul, nokdu, eunchul should be at a 1.5 tier called “i have commitment issues” but why would i do that to myself

would you mind answering 15 and 29 for the 'three songs' ask set? thank you!
Oh look, Tumblr is eating asks again, THANKS, TUMBLR
15. Three songs you want to dance with your love to:
These would be much, much easier to pick if either myself or my love had any capacity for dancing... But if we want to count silly-dancing, definitely:
Blue Suede Shoes (Elvis Presley)
Magic Dance (ya know... from the movie Labyrinth, with David Bowie-WE ARE DORKS AIIGHT), and...
The Bitch is Back (Elton John). It’s mostly a lot of jumping around in the kitchen!
29. Three songs that influenced you the most:
Aiight, for the sake of variety, I had to REALLY hold myself back from just. Picking all three from Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill album. So that entire album gets uh, an honorable mention,  I suppose.
Not The Doctor by Alanis Morissette. The line “I don’t want to be the sweeper of the eggshells that you walk upon” has basically carried me through life lol
Rosebud (O Verbo e a Verba) by Lenine. Lenine’s body of work in general influenced a lot of my music tastes, and it also reminds me of Sunday afternoons spent with my dad when I was a kid. *shrug*
Life on Mars? by David Bowie. This song kind of makes me want to take up piano again, but otherwise it’s just been another one of those songs that just. Marks a huge portion of my life. So there!
I SECOND-GUESSED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE CHOICES kajshdkasdljha

This is faaaar from a complete list and will be spotty at best but I’ve been pondering MCU characters a lot as I’ve been getting slowly back to work on my mega-fic.  I LOVE minor head canons.  Simple stuff like favorite foods or what music they listen to or were they ever a smoker or whatever whatever.  So I’m gonna give myself the challenge of crafting some head canon and anyone else is very welcome to dive in! (some things are already established via canon)
~ Ethnicity ~ Faith ~ Smoker ~ Alcohol ~ Favorite food ~ Favorite cookie ~ Favorite animal(s) ~ Favorite music ~
Tony Stark:  Ethnicity: Mixed European-American-Jewish (he refers to himself as a “mutt”) Faith: “No thanks” being the initial answer but if he feels like opening up he’ll admit to believing there’s likely “something” out there but at the same time figures that “something” stopped caring about humanity a long long time ago.  Smoker?  Never liked cigarettes but smoked a few cigars when he was younger due to Obie’s influence.  He never was a big fan but wanted to fit in with his mentor.  Alcohol: Influenced both by his father and Obie, Tony started drinking hard liquor semi-regularly as young as 14 (his Dad let him try his first sip at the age of 6).  He pretty much sticks with Scotch or Bourbon but is not opposed to cheap beer at a ball game.  In fact the cheaper the better - a requirement for any self-respecting American.  Favorite food: hot dogs.  Neither one of his parents cooked.  Breakfast and lunch were whatever whenever for all three of them but dinner? You better be sure you were at that table before the plates were set down or you could go without (and Tony got a slap from his father when he’d observed that rule only seemed to apply to him).  But on the nights he was sent to his room, Jarvis would slip upstairs, later, with a sandwich or, on really rough nights, a couple of hotdogs.  Favorite cookie: Those Christmas wreath ones made with cereal and marshmallow with the cinnamon candies.  Favorite animal(s): he likes all animals but if he had to pick one for a pet he’d get an iguana.  Favorite music: well duh lolol.
Stephen Strange: Ethnicity: Mixed European-American (borrowed from Benedict Cumberbatch’s ethnicity and adding the American) Faith: Originally atheist but now closer to Buddhist.  Smoker:  Never.  Even prior to becoming a sorcerer he has always been conscious of what he takes into his body; especially given the history of cancer on his mother’s side of the family.  Alcohol:  Wine, occasionally, though he isn’t really a social drinker per-say.  Favorite food:  The spicy shrimp and pork dumplings from a Thai place in Midtown.  Favorite cookie: Hmmm.... not a big sweets guy but he won’t turn away a few ginger-pecan cookies with coffee.  Favorite animal(s): dogs - unequivocally.  He had a border collie growing up on his family farm in Nebraska.  Favorite music: please don’t make this poor man actually have to choose.
Steve Rogers: Ethnicity: Irish (as per comics) Faith? Irish-Catholic (as per the comics).  Smoker? Prior to the serum there was no way he could safely do so with his health issues.  After he started traveling with the performers all of the girls in the group smoked and he tried it out a few times but never developed a taste for it.  Alcohol: he drank A LOT - easy enough to do as it never had any real effect on him.  He enjoys scotch and bourbon (a taste he picked up from hanging around Howard Stark).  Steve seems to low-key always have the munchies (like most enhanced) and once Tony picked up on that there are always a variety of snacks scattered here and there throughout the compound (also of benefit for Bruce, Peter, Thor, and, later, Bucky).  Steve’s favorite foods typically remind him of his mother’s cooking.  While they’d never had much (especially after his father died) his mom could do a lot with limited supplies.  She used to make a fantastic meat pie with ground beef or tongue.  He hates SPAM.  They ate it in the Army, constantly, and just the smell will occasionally send him back to those days and not in a good way.  Favorite cookie?  Oreos.  He can clean up a family sized pack in like 10 minutes.  Steve loves animals but is especially fond of horses and dogs.  There was a dog in his unit in WW2 and Steve, like most of the other men, would share bites of his rations with it.  Steve is nostalgic about music from the 40s but finds that 70s rock really resonates with him.
Bucky Barnes: Ethnicity: Romanian-American (borrowing a little from Sebastian Stan’s ethnicity) Faith? Possibly agnostic.  Smoker? Heck yes - both cigarettes and cigars.  Like Steve, the serum he received (via Hydra’s experimentation) means he gets to dodge the detrimental side effects of smoking.  Alcohol: He likes to drink but is almost exclusively a beer drinker.  He has a big appetite but refuses to eat around others if he can at all help it.  His favorite food is corned beef with cabbage.  Steve’s grandmother was an Irish immigrant and would make it every Sunday before the war impacted rations.  Since both Bucky’s parents were dead he’d often have dinner with his best friend.  Also, unlike Steve, he actually likes SPAM.  But then, arguably, he isn’t terribly picky about food in general.  Favorite cookie: molasses.  Favorite animal(s): birds - eagles in particular - though he doesn’t look too deeply at the psychology of their ability to just fly away.  Needless to say a crafty observer might spot a former Winter Soldier tossing seeds towards the pigeons.  Favorite music: He’s pretty eclectic though he shies away from anything too loud like death metal.  He finds classical very soothing.
Peter Parker: Ethnicity: Mixed American-Scandinavian-German-ish Faith: Protestant upbringing but unsure where he currently stands. If pressed he’d say he’s “leaving his options open” Smoker?  “Oh gross!” Alcohol: “Um, too young to drink, thanks! But if I WERE to... you know, try it just to taste it there was this mudslide at one of Flash’s parties that was super good...” Favorite food: spaghetti and meatballs.  Lots of meatballs.  Favorite cookie: chocolate chocolate chip with chunks.  Favorite animal(s): NOT spiders.  And NOT birds given how many rooftops he’s traversed layered in pigeon ick.  He’d probably say cats.  Favorite music: The B side of techno rock - especially Depeche Mode.
Peter Quill: Ethnicity:  Half mixed American and half celestial.  Faith: His Dad was a god and he killed him so he figures he probably isn’t on the best terms with the Big G God should He... or She... or Them... be out there.  Look he just wants to do his thing and cause a little trouble without mixing it up with any other celestial types but if they DO wanna throw down he’d like to point out that he’s 1 for 1 and willing to rumble.  Smoker: He would not say no to a really good cigar and may have possibly lifted a case from Yondu’s stash when he struck out on his own.  Alcohol:  Anywhere any time and in large quantities.  Favorite food:  A thick steakhouse bacon burger with potato chips right on the patty.  Extra cheese please!  Favorite cookie: He’s a simple guy with simple tastes.  classic chocolate chip no frills no fuss and fresh from the oven.  Favorite animal(s):  He likes dogs - who doesn’t like dogs?  But he really likes cows.  Just maybe don’t mention the burger thing.  Favorite music:
Thor: He’s a Norse god of legend so I figure we can forego the ethnicity/faith questions lol.  Smoker: He has never understood this human custom nor has he felt any inclination to try it himself  Alcohol: Beer, mead, and anything capable of knocking him on his ass.  Favorite food:  chili with ghost peppers.  Though nowhere near as hot as the fire chilies of Muspelheim (which would be instantly fatal for humans so its just as well).  Favorite cookie: strawberry cheesecake with macadamia nuts.  Favorite animal(s):  It’s a tossup between bilgesnipe and whales.  Favorite music:  The mighty horns of battle!  He also enjoys old school country, much to Tony’s disgust.  The story aspect of that music is what appeals to him.
Bruce Banner: Ethnicity: Italian-American  Faith: Catholic in his childhood; currently Atheist or maybe agnostic.  Smoker: He tends to avoid any substances for, you know, obvious reasons.  Alcohol: See previous.  Favorite food:  Waffles with sliced mango.  Favorite cookie: Oatmeal.  Favorite animal(s):  Mantis shrimp - “did you know they can generate so much power in their attacks that they can briefly super-heat the water up to 7,700 °C??”  Favorite music:  Indian- especially Krishna Bhajan.
Clint Barton: Ethnicity:  Mixed European-American and Panamanian.  Faith:  His parents were both Protestant but he’s never latched on to any specific faith and hasn’t really devoted a lot of thought on the matter.  He has a sorta loose idea of “maybe something out there” but that’s all the further he’s gotten on the subject.  What he tells anyone who asks it’s that his religion is coffee.  Smoker: Briefly when he was a teen.  Alcohol:  Beer - he’s a fan of dark lager.  Favorite food:  Coney Island dogs, Pizza, and pickle flavored potato chips.  Favorite cookie:   Monster cookies with the mini M&Ms.  Favorite animal(s): Dogs  Favorite music:  80s rock and some country.
Natasha Romanoff: Ethnicity:  Russian.  Faith:  She was not given much choice when younger and was raised as “state atheist” (per comics).  In the years since escaping that life, however, she has tried to discover more about herself.  Her parents were both Russian Jewish and there has been a pull to discover more about that faith - especially since meeting Wanda - who is Jewish.  Smoker:  No.  Alcohol: Some vodka - that’s a given.  But she actually prefers wine; and honestly her favorites are wine spritzers.  Favorite food:   Favorite cookie: Krumkake filled with creme and berries.  Favorite animal(s): Favorite music:  Overall she listens to a pile of little-known bands and whomever is playing at whatever bar in whatever city she happens to be in.  She also is a huge fan of old school Spice Girls.

tenkaede and saimatsu for the ship meme
i already did tenkaede here so! :3c
who’s the cuddler: are you kidding? both ofc!!! they’re a lot more subtle in public, but they’re pretty much always touching each other in some way. kaede loves to just curl up with saihara whenever they’re relaxing at home, and saihara is more than willing to open his arms, especially when he’s feeling a bit cold
who makes the bed: saihara. he’s constantly adding/taking away an extra blanket or two so they can practically make a nest when they wanna cuddle up together.
who wakes up first: neither of them are huge morning people, so it just depends on who was work that day. on the weekends, even if one of them wakes up first, they’ll just wait until the other person wakes up. and they totally don’t enjoy watching the other person as they snooze, they don’t find it cute *at all* /sarcasm
who has weird taste in music: both have some strange tastes; kaede loves piano music of course, and she also enjoys a wide variety of genres. saihara is into alternative music, and starts to appreciate classical music through kaede. his ‘strange music’ would just be that he has no qualms about listening to music in other languages, even if he doesn’t know it.
who is more protective: i’d say kaede is more actively protective, honestly. she’ll get mad if anyone puts him down; heaven forbid anyone does so in front of her. she can actually get pretty scary.
who sings in the shower: kaede ofc. sometimes she doesn’t even realize that she’s doing it. saihara finds it adorable.
who cries during movies: both, if it’s put together well enough
who spends the most while out shopping: i think actually saihara would. not necessarily while ‘splurging’ or anything, just. if he sees a small thing that kaede would like, the urge to spoil her is too strong lol
who kisses more roughly: kaede. i think that’s self-explainable
who is more dominant: kaede, but saihara can take charge when she wants him to.
my rating of the ship from 1-10: 10/10 will ship again

What is a song that reminds you of your ex? Sparks by Coldplay is the one that stands out the most. But to be honest, so much of my music taste had been shaped by her - Hozier, alt-J, The xx, Rhye, Coldplay, etc., and so it sucks because I can’t listen to any of those artists now without feeling like shit, or cringing. The variety of music I listen to these days has drastically dropped because of it and tbh I only ever listen to Paramore or Hayley Williams anymore; because of this, I’ve been trying to explore music that I can discover for myself and to build up my own music taste.
Do you own a pair of aviator sunglasses? No but my mom and sister do and I borrow stuff from them all the time.
Have you ever got all the way to the mall and forgot all your money? Thank fuck I haven’t. I thought the exact thing happened to me last Sunday when I went to the mall, but my wallet just turned out to be buried deep in my bag lol. I was ready to drive out of my parking spot and begrudgingly make the entire trip home but fortunately I was able to feel my wallet at the last second.
Can you name the last time you felt happy? Yesterday was a good day, but I believe I’ll feel happy again tonight because I’m going out for samgyup with Andi, hahaha. I haven’t seen them since March.
Who’s birthday will you be celebrating next? It’s the day after said samgyup date with Andi and I’m happy to confirm that I did feel very happy last night. :) Anyway, it will be my dad’s birthday and we’re set to take a quick vacation to Tagaytay for it since that’s the only place we can go that’s a bit far and doesn’t require swab tests.
What was the last fast food place you ate at? I have not actually sat in a fast food place to dine in for years; but my last fast food was I think Jollibee? My parents bought meals for us for dinner a few weeks ago.
Have you ever got yelled at for mass messaging? No. I didn’t have a lot of friends as a kid, so I didn’t really get to join in the trend of group messages. I was a part of some occasionally, but my mom never gave me load either so I was always unable to respond lol.
Have you ever come across one of those anorexic xanga sites? I guess not.
Do you listen to Anti Flag? I think I had tried to get into them, but I ended up liking other punk bands more. I don’t remember if I had any of their albums in my iPod before.
When you were younger did you ever own a JUMBO pencil? Probably. Every kid had it at least once.
Have you ever put sugar on your popcorn? I haven’t, but I’ve had sweeter popcorn before that I’m guessing had sugar in it.
What is your favorite chick flick? The Proposal, Titanic, The Vow, 50 First Dates, and 13 Going on 30 are for sure my top 5.
Did you put The Notebook for your last answer? God no, that movie was pretty cringey. It was mostly the script’s fault; I really wanted to give the whole movie a chance because I love Rachel McAdams, but the screenplay was just bleck.
Will you ever be happy with your weight? Or are you already? I’d love to gain some pounds so I can hit the triple digits since I feel like that would be a much healthier weight for me. But I also never felt the need to complain about only swinging within the 90-95 lbs range since becoming a teenager.
Can you remember the last time you played with hot wheels? I guess when I was 8 or 9, when I still lived in my childhood home with my cousins.
Can you name 1 survey site that isn’t run by a girl? If so who? Hi @inchoate-surveys and @eldritchsurveys ! < There we go :)
If you go to McDonalds you will more than likely order…? An 8-piece box of chicken nuggets, a Burger McDo, large fries, and an Oreo McFlurry.
How many pairs of sneakers do you own? Around six? I need to get new pairs.
What are your thoughts on Kelly Clarkson? I love some of her songs but I’m not a huge huge fan.
Have you ever seen her live? Or would you want too? If it were free, sure.

November 13: 1x23 A Taste of Armageddon
Feeling pretty tired now, and it’s been a rough day, but I did rally to watch, and enjoy, an episode of Star Trek.
A diplomatic mission today. The Enterprise comes with friendly intentions!
I don’t entirely get this Ambassador or the back story here. They want to set up diplomatic relations with this solar system, because Federation members somehow get killed there a lot. But the Eminians don’t ever leave their solar system, so if the Federation is having problems with them it must be because the Federation is messing around in their space. So perhaps you could just no go there?
Mmm love Kirk being A Captain. “I’m thinking about this ship, my crew.” He’s not a fan of Ambassadors or people usurping his power.
And Spock seems very interested in all of this.
Aw yeah another cool 50s sci fi background! There are more of these than I remembered.
All of the interior hallways, as well as the exterior painting, are all nice and bright and multi-colored for those new color TVs.
It’s hard to pinpoint why, but I feel like this is an effectively Alien culture. Like maybe it’s the weird hats or the colorful hallways or the initial mysterious nature of them, but they just feel very not human, in a way ST alien guest stars don’t always manage imo.
Those annoying colonists lol. Sent them to a new planet and now they’re attacking us.
“If this is an attack... where’s the attack?”
Everyone in Star Trek does a lot of scanning and surveillance.
“Our civilization lives--the people die--but our culture goes on.” Literally America’s COG plans.
“I do not approve. I understand.” I love Spock so much.
The target has been “classified destroyed.” Kirk is confused and rightfully so.
Hmm, is Spock meditating?
Oh, there’s McCoy! Guess he didn’t get the memo yet that he and everyone else is dead.
Scotty know when Kirk’s voice isn’t Kirk’s voice. I love Scotty also and appreciate that he’s getting a bigger role at this point in the series.
I guess Spock is still a “Vulcanian.” Ngl... kind of wish they’d stuck with that. It has a certain ring. I feel like this is the first mention of their telepathic abilities--aside from the mind meld specifically. And they’re “limited” abilities. But not so limited that he can’t control that dude’s mind without touching him--and through a door. Mom suggested the ability is stronger with touch, which makes sense, especially as they do have psychic bonds with each other. But still. That looked pretty powerful to me.
Kirk is so apologetic about possibly being forced to kill.
“I’ll cover you.” It’s probably because of STXI that that affects me so much lol.
I can’t believe “there’s a multi-legged creature on your shoulder” worked! I remember seeing this ep for the first time and just completely losing it at that.
No one’s even gonna talk about the Prime Directive today, I guess.
So it’s already escalating as Anan said: real weapons used to destroy their weird suicide machines, now real weapons to attack the Enterprise.
Scotty’s not impressed by their fire power though.
If only Spock were here to be reminded of his father.
“The best diplomat I know is a fully activated phaser bank.” But they’re not military lmao.
Kirk is so turning up the charm again with Mea. But she’s not very susceptible to it and he’s getting kind of impatient, so it’s like Aggressive Charm.
I feel like this ambassador isn’t very smart. He’s too trusting, doesn’t seem to have great instincts. As opposed to Scotty, who is also Brave and Good, taking a stand.
“The haggis has hit the fan.” Please tell me that is not a real Scottish saying.
I know Kirk and Anan are supposed to be, like, tense and dangerous and threatening in this scene, but it’s reading almost flirty. “Would you...like a drink?” Kirk’s little finger crook thing.
You can tell he already has a plan at this point, which is kind of unusual in terms of Star Trek structure imo. Like usually you’re more with Kirk as he develops a plan, and here you’re watching him hint at the plan. “I don’t need my ship to destroy your whole planet” and so on.
“A man like that would have preferred to die fighting.”
How’d the diplomats get down to the planet? I thought the shields were still up.
They’re really giving Fox the Cliff’s Notes version of their society, huh? “Nice to meet you, you’re off to die now, sorry, really.”
Spock’s like “Oh, no, an Ambassador being killed?? How terrible...”
“Keep her from leaving. Sit on her if you have to.” Unexpectedly hilarious like wtf kind of order is that. And then the Yeoman like trying to look all fierce and Mea’s like “Yeah, okay,” eye roll.
“I’m practicing a peculiar variety of diplomacy.” Spock is such a bad ass. And he’s having a good time being action hero. This is why Vulcans think he’s weird.
Now he needs to find the Captain!
Kirk and Spock both using schoolyard tactics to win fights: tripping someone, the old spider trick. And they’re effective!
Quite possible even better than the spider scene is this ‘Spock comes to rescue his boyfriend and Kirk already has two guns trained on the room’ scene. “I thought you needed help.” / “Oh, I need the help.”
“We’re not going to kill today.” Honestly this one speech is deeper than all 7 seasons of the 100. Also more optimistic and nicer.
Kirk versus the computer again lol. This time, with firearms!
“A feeling is not much to go on.” IT IS IF IT’S A SIMPLE FEELING AMIRITE FELLAS?
“You almost make me believe in luck.” / “You almost make me believe in miracles.”
Honestly where the fuck is EITHER of those things coming from? Like no one was talking about luck and they definitely weren’t talking about miracles!! No one mentioned any miracles, Jim!!
He always gets so flirty after the danger is over, though. Every single time. “Ah, yes, all is well, now time to say something romantic or suggestive. As a treat.”
And then they play that weird comical music over Spock’s confused face as if that made it less queer.
So anyway this isn’t the official Vietnam War Episode but it’s kinda giving me Vietnam vibes. (According to the amazon trivia, I’m right: the computer tallies of the war dead was inspired by Vietnam causalities being shown on tv at night.) From an American perspective, it’s far away, it’s largely invisible, but it’s also long, it seems to exist for its own sake.
Also interesting that no one ever mentions why the two sides are fighting--probably because after 500 years, they don’t know. They just continue on in this mechanized, unceasing way.
That was a really good episode, and even though the actual danger of computer isn’t really what they predicted, I think it holds up regardless, in a different way.
I mean first of all technology has done a fair bit to sanitize war--the use of drones, for example, that allow the aggressors not to see their damage.
But also, and this is like only a half-thought really, but... One thing I think about a lot that the show didn't predict is that the internet allows us to see so much more than any other group of people in history. everything is very close, and there are pictures and videos and so on, from all over the world, available to you at any given time. I think this is very hard to deal with psychologically. So thinking about that in relation to this...it's a different balance but for the Eminians, war was both very real and close--it's constant, and people die all the time in huge numbers--but also very far away, because it's happening essentially hypothetically. So the dichotomy doesn’t line up in the same way but it still exists, imo.
And wow, that “we’re not going to kill today” speech. That was an interesting little wrinkle: that part of why the Eminians continued warring was because they felt like it was just inherently who they were. Their nature. Same philosophy espoused by all the grimdark showrunners of today. “I’m smart and brave and deep because I’m showing a mirror to humanity!! A MIRROR!”
And then here's Kirk, a Classic Hero, coming in and saying, "Yeah, wow, deep, you've determined that your species has a violent history. That's cool and all but have you considered that every single day you can consciously choose to make different, better choices?"
This was a good Kirk ep, a good Spock ep, and a good Scotty ep. It bums me out that he’s seen as comic relief now I guess... as my mom said, Scotty liked a joke but he was never comic relief.
I think it would be interesting to hear more of Spock’s thoughts in this ep, though. He’s the son of an ambassador and his people also had a warlike history that they dealt with in a way different to how humans do. But the method of problem solving of the Enterprise Captain and crew today was very martial, much more about brute force, and strategy as well, than peaceful talking--an overall plan I doubt many Vulcans would like. It would be interesting to hear how he thought of it all to himself.
Anyway, it’s getting late! Next up is a very decidedly good Spock ep, This Side of Paradise. Might be watching it on Wednesday so..not too long to wait!
