22. a song by your favorite artist/band

Okay so I have a lot of artists that I love, and picking a favorite is impossible. But I guess if I really have to go with just one who has been the most influential and important for the longest time, that would be Dar Williams. All of her songs are incredible, but for this I'll share What Do You Hear in These Sounds, which is about therapy:

30. a song with really good lyrics

I mostly (though not exclusively) listen to music for the lyrics, so I have a lot of potential answers to this, but I think tonight I'll go with Same Shit/Complicated by Kimya Dawson:

40. your favorite song in a language different from your native one

I don't listen to a tone of music that isn't in English, because as I said above I mostly listen for lyrics and I don't speak any other languages. But I do listen to a good amount of Jewish music in Hebrew or Yiddish. I really like the group Nefesh Mountain, they do Jewish bluegrass which is just such a fun combo. This song is in a mix of English and Hebrew, but whatever, I didn't want to share a lullaby or more traditional version of a prayer which makes up most of the non-English music I listen to, I wanted to share Nefesh Mountain. Here's their fun bluegrass version of the prayer said upon waking, Modeh Ani:

1. Art programs you have but don't use

i actually use all three art programs i own (sai, csp, and ms paint) though i've moved away from sai in recent months. i'm really buckling down on getting used to csp.

2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)

left, 100%. sometimes i flip a canvas around so i ONLY have to draw people facing left. not a good habit, really. i've joked in tags before that my blog is nothing but people facing left.

11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what

oh man, i listen to so much... if i'm listening to music, i try to match the mood of what i'm drawing. video game background music is a popular pick for me; i read an article once about how it's made to help you focus and kinda took that to heart. a lot of the time i'll listen to video essays or catch up on my youtube subscriptions.

sometimes i sit in silence and draw, but that's rare. it usually means i'm REALLY in the zone. sometimes i'll put a song on repeat and listen to it 30 times while working. it really just depends.
