hiii how do you personally shift to your drs? love ur account <3
thank you so much <3 I just realized that I never fully answered this question on my account! as with every shifting routine, it works differently for different people, but these are the things that I use every time I attempt to shift (and the things that work for me!!)
𝕸𝖞 𝕽𝖔𝖚𝖙𝖎𝖓𝖊
[ throughout the day / in the evening ]
── in the beginning of my journey, my shifting process was always very extensive (& probably unnecessary!), and it usually was a whole day ordeal. I only shifted (or attempted) 1/2x a week, so this definitely wasn't an everyday thing. I just found that making myself comfortable was very helpful, and it eventually became a permanent part of my routine!
── a long time ago, there were people talking about meditation and its use in shifting, so I began to take meditation seriously to help with my attention span and learning how to ease my mind quicker.
── this became an everyday habit, not just on shifting days! I love meditation so much, and I can honestly say that without all my months of practice it would've been a lot more difficult for me to focus on visualization/the void state.
(and this is coming from a girlie with diagnosed adhd! meditation seriously changed my journey, not to sound cliche!)
── on the days I am seeking motivation, I love to create ambient environments that are like my intended reality. THIS WAS GAMECHANGER FOR ME!! when I was shifting to the maze runner (my first desired reality), I would put on Glade ambience (or sometimes meditate and try to imagine the sounds myself) and just sit outside or do yard work.
── for my hogwarts shifters... when I was preparing to shift and begin school in my weasley reality, I created a study space, put on Hogwarts library ambience, and completed some assignments for online Hogwarts (hogwartsishere.com I LOVE THAT WEBSITE SO MUCH). for me, when I spend moments in the day pretending I am in my desired reality, that is the purest form of visualization and I always feel so motivated!!
── this is definitely not required at all, but it is so fun and if anyone needs realistic ambience recommendations I have so many saved (and I am working on making my own personalized to me)!
𝕸𝖊𝖙𝖍𝖔𝖉
[ night & morning method ]
── hypnagogia is my go-to way to try and shift! some nights, I am able to focus and let my body fall asleep while falling into this void-like state, but it usually takes around 2 hours and it is a PAIN
── recently, I have discovered that by utilizing WBTB and the early morning sleepiness, I can shift so much faster ! usually I set an alarm for the early morning (3am-5am), and when I do this in the morning I dedicate it to a day-off and I don't do it every day!
── I do this exercise where I try to imagine what my stream of thoughts would be like if I was in my DR. I usually break up these thoughts with breathing exercises (I use the box breathing technique and it makes my body fall into the hypnagogic state the fastest!)
── these thoughts include, "today I have to do____" or "last night ____ happened" etc. it always took me a while in the beginning to get into the right "headspace", so sometimes I would take moments out of my day to spend a couple of minutes meditating and connecting with my dr-self (if that makes sense??)
── after a while, I always am in this trance / void of DR thoughts, and sometimes I even have lucid dreams with this method!
── the next thing I always do is "rebuild" my senses to the location I want to wake up in my desired reality. this always gets scarily vivid very quickly for me. it scared me awake multiple times in the beginning of my shifting journey! the excitement is so unmatched when you can physically feel your surroundings change and you know that all this effort is working!!
── I usually always know I shift when my eyes open, but sometimes I fall asleep mid-visualization and I shift. this is always such a surprise for me, though, because something about naturally waking up vs. opening your eyes is kind of scary. in my maze runner reality, I jolted awake in a cold metal elevator and that disorientation was unreal. I also had a Neverland reality where I woke up laying on a beach with waves washing over me, and it was so unexpected I thought I was dying. I had fallen asleep mid method, so those are always the craziest experiences!
── nothing ever beats the thrill and realization of fully shifting though! I still freak out every time I shift, even though I have been doing it for 4ish years now! BEST FEELING EVER
── even though my shifting method is a long process, it is really the only thing that consistently works for me & most days I have fun with it! learning to appreciate and be mindful of each step on my journey has helped me grow so much (and I am definitely still learning!)
note: typing this out, I realized how unspecific I might have been with my actual method, but it is pretty identical to any hypnagogia/five senses method! I am definitely not an expert on all of the methods/affirmations out there─ as I usually just do what feels right and what makes me feel the most connected to my desired reality!
thank you for reading <3

I drew my OC for The Maze Runner universe ✨ (her story below)
~ Martha „Mari” ~ named after Martha Nussbaum, American philosopher.
- 160 cm tall
- Brown, chocolate colored hair.
- Hazel eyes.
In the box:
- When she arrived in the box (one year before Thomas), Gally was the one who jumped down to her. The shock of the situation scared her so much that as she backed away from the boy, she bumped into some boxes, snagging her shirt and tearing it.
- To everyone’s surprise, Gally didn’t start shouting, didn’t grab her, and didn’t throw her out of the box. Perhaps it was because the first girl in the Glade stood right before him. When he noticed her probable fear of him, he raised his hands in surrender and tried to calm her down. As the girl began to relax, he reached out to her, and after a few seconds, she took his hand, giving him the most beautiful smile he had ever seen. „Oh, I'm so done now” he thought.
In the Glade:
- Her job was being a cook.
- She was know for being The Sunshine of the Glade. Her smile brightened everyone's day. In every situation, she tried to find the positive aspect. On better days, she would always come up with group activities or play the pranks on her friends. On worse days, when it was hard to find anything positive, she always made time to support anyone in need. She often encouraged discussions about emotions so that the boys wouldn’t bottle up their feelings. When Frypan, her keeper, wasn’t looking, she would sneak snacks to share with those who were having a tough day.
- After two months of constant flirting with Gally and giving him signals that she was interested in him… he still didn’t realize it, even though he had been in love with her since she arrived in the box. But eventually, her feelings reached him, and they were happily together.
- On her left wrist, she wears a bracelet that she received as a gift from Gally.
- Her bestfriend was Frypan, but she was also close to Ben and, for that reason, to Minho, because she was the one who always brought them breakfast at ungodly hours before their work as runners.
- When Chuck arrived he became her friend in mischiev.
- After Thomas arrived, her relationship with Gally drastically deteriorated. She couldn’t understand his hatred for the new boy and tried to explain that changes don’t always mean the worst. He couldn’t comprehend how she could trust him, especially after what happened with Ben. His hatred clouded his judgment. When she chose to escape with Thomas after the Griever attack, he felt betrayed. „We will survive here” he said to her, hoping she would change her mind. „I don’t want to survive, I want to live!” she shouted with tears in her eyes.
- When she saw him lying lifeless on the ground with a spear piercing his chest, her world came to a stop. She stood frozen as strangers began to pull them out of the room they were in.
In the Scorch:
- When they were brought into the room, it hit her what had happened, and she completely broke down. She fell to her knees, screaming from the depths of her lungs and crying so hard that it scared the others. Frypan immediately rushed to her, taking her into his arms, holding her close to his chest, and gently rocking her in an attempt to calm her down. After a moment, Minho sat down beside them, taking her hand and apologizing so quietly that it was hard to tell if he was speaking to her or to himself.
- After they escaped from the facility, she found a pair of long pants in the old shopping mall where they were hiding, she changed into them, putting on a jacket and a scarf. She also tied her hair back to keep it out of her eyes during the journey through The Scotch.
- Throughout the journey to the Right Arm camp, she traveled quietly behind the group, always at the back and never sticking her neck out. Everyone noticed that there was almost nothing left of the girl they once called The Sunshine of the Glade.
- After Teresa betrayed them and the WICKED showed up and captured Minho, she tried to save him, but she was unsuccessful, and ultimately, both of them were gone.
Captured by WICKED:
- She was on the train with Minho when Thomas and the group tried to save them.
- In the facility, they wouldn't let her see Minho. She quickly realized that he was in another part of the building when they began to transport her to the medical ward.
Being experimented by WICKED:
- Quickly, the doctors and scientists began experimenting on her, observing her reactions and monitoring her brain. Hooked up to strange machines, they put her into a state of hallucination and forced her to relive the deaths of her love - Gallys, also Chucks, Bens and others. Over time, she found a loophole in the simulation; before they could bring the next death before her eyes, she forced herself to commit suicide in the hallucination, still being safe in reality while connected to the machines. Her actions caused an error, disrupting the simulation before it fully started. However, WICKED did not give up, so for the next few months, she was subjected to experiments every day, and every day she committed suicide in her mind. She was already broken, but it was slowly destroying her from the inside.
- When they weren’t experimenting on her, she was locked in a room with a bed, a small closet, and a bathroom. Once, Teresa visited her, horrified by the state she found the girl in—neglected, emaciated, and lifeless—she approached the bed. She took a hairbrush from the closet and began to gently comb through her hair. However, all of Mari's memories rushed back of Gally, who loved to play with her long hair, running his fingers through it, or even braiding little plaits while listening to how her day went. With tears in her eyes, she pushed Teresa away and ran to the bathroom, slamming the door shut. When Teresa was about to leave, she heard the sound of shattering glass. Fearing the worst, she rushed to the bathroom. Upon opening the door, she noticed the broken mirror and Mari on the floor, surrounded by shards of glass and… hair. After breaking the mirror, Mari took a piece of glass and, with one bold motion, cut her hair to her shoulders. After doing so, her mind stopped functioning; she no longer knew what was a simulation and what wasn’t. Seeing herself in the reflection of the shard she held in her hand, she began to tremble. Looking at Teresa in the doorway, she raised her hand with the piece of glass and, staring into her eyes, plunged it into her own wrist. Teresa immediately rushed towards her, trying to stop the bleeding. The cut was shallow enough that she was quickly saved.
- When they eventually deemed her stable enough, they took her for further tests. As she was being transported by a guard, wearing a hospital gown, her head hung low, preparing for what awaited her, she didn’t even notice that a group of rebels who had been captured was being transported opposite her. As they passed each other, she lifted her head slightly and looked at one of the boys in the group. When her eyes met his, her heart stopped for a second. 'Gally?' she asked so quietly that she was afraid he wouldn’t hear her. Standing before her was the boy she had lost, whose death she had witnessed so many times that she wasn’t sure her heart could take it. He stood in front of her, taller, with more defined muscles, his hair cut short… but it was him. 'Martha?' he replied, shock evident in his eyes. Before she could react, the guards began to pull them apart in opposite directions. Both of them screamed each other’s names, trying to reach one another, but the guards’ grips were too strong. Moments later, she was around the corner, her love out of her sight. She couldn’t understand what was happening and what would happen next.
- After Gally and his group escaped with the help of a mole, the first thing he did was find the girl he had dreamed of since he lost her. He promised himself that he wouldn’t make the same mistake again and that he wouldn’t leave her alone once more. Once he found her, his group discovered an exit pointed out to them by an acquaintance, and they quickly transported themselves to the camp where Gally had been living all this time.
- It was a few weeks before Thomas and the others arrived. Gally took her to his room and laid her down on his bed. She was so exhausted from everything that she fell asleep immediately. When she woke up, she didn’t know where she was; she felt movement beside her, and when she looked to the side, she saw him. Gally was lying next to her, slightly dozing, having watched over her all night. In ideal circumstances, she would have thrown herself at him, kissing and hugging him, but Mari was shattered… she thought it was just another WICKED simulation. She spiraled into a frenzy, screaming, which jolted Gally awake and onto his feet. As she began to back away from him, shouting for him to stay away, he raised his hands in surrender, trying to calm her down, just like on the first day they met. However, this time she didn’t take his hand with a big smile; instead, she reached for the knife he had left on the nightstand beside the bed the day before. With a quick motion, she tried to stab herself in the stomach, but fortunately, the quick-thinking boy was faster and caught her hands, disarming her. Horrified by her state, he lifted her into a big bear hug and sat down on the bed, placing her on his lap while continuing to hold her close. After a few minutes, she finally calmed down, but still worried, she asked him if she was part of a simulation. Not fully understanding what she meant, he nonetheless assured her that this was not a simulation. Seeing the uncertainty in her eyes, he leaned over, brought his face close to hers, and gently kissed her on the lips. It was brief, but it made her believe him because no WICKED simulation could create such a sweet moment.
- Her episodes occurred almost every day, and every day Gally was by her side to calm her down.
- One day, Gally let her know that he was heading into the city with the group, promising he would be back soon. However, she didn’t expect him to return with guests. She burst into tears of joy when she saw the Gladers in front of her. Frypan immediately rushed toward her, hugging her tightly. Next came Brenda and Jorge, and finally Newt and Thomas. But for her, it was all too perfect; her mind began to play tricks on her again. Gally noticed her change in behavior out of the corner of his eye, but surrounded by friends, he didn’t have time to react. Mari had already grabbed a knife from Newt’s pocket, holding it out toward her neck while trembling. The boys, terrified by the situation, stepped back from her, calling out questions about what was happening. Experienced in these situations, Gally grabbed her hand, squeezing it enough to make her drop the knife but not to hurt her. With his other hand, he held her face and kissed her aggressively. As the girl came to her senses, tears streamed down her face as she repeatedly muttered, 'I’m sorry' under her breath. Gally took her to their shared room and laid her down to sleep. He then returned to the confused group and explained what she had been enduring for the past few months.
- During the plan to rescue Minho, Mari was constantly with Brenda and Frypan. Gally was worried about her; he didn’t want to be away from her, but she promised that everything would be fine and that nothing would happen to her while she was with the former cook.
- The plan succeeded; Minho and the other kids were rescued (AND NEWT SURVIVED).
Safe heaven:
- In the safe haven, she slept in a hammock next to Gally's bed, until the former builder constructed their own little hut on the edge of the beach.
- Occasional episodes still occurred, but Gally was always there to calm her until they finally stopped.

The Rat P2
Media - The Maze Runner Series Character - Newt Couple - Newt X Reader Reader - Y/n Rating - cute + Sad Word Count - 2631
Part One
I sat on the bus, holding Y/n close to me. Her head was resting on my chest, and her legs were over mine. I wanted to let her have more room, but we were short on space. I knew she must have been uncomfortable after being locked up in that cell for who knows how long, especially with our little one. I just wanted her to be as comfortable as possible. As I held her close in my arms, I couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and comfort. Her soft Y/h/C hair, which had grown long and unkempt during her months of confinement, was now in my hands. I took my time, slowly running my fingers through her hair, gently untangling the knots and matting that had formed.
With each stroke, I could sense her body relaxing, as if the simple act of being cared for and tended to be enough to soothe her soul. It was a moment of tenderness and intimacy that I will always cherish. As I leaned down to kiss her forehead, I could feel the warmth of her skin and the softness of her hair. She looked so peaceful, her chest rising and falling gently with each breath. It was a long bus ride, and almost everyone else was asleep, except for Frypan who was focused on the road ahead. Thomas, on the other hand, was wide awake and buried in the phone, scrolling through the countless conversations they had had with Teresa. I couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking as he read through each message, his face scrunched up in concentration. The hum of the bus engine and the occasional sound of someone shifting in their seat were the only sounds that filled the air. It was a moment of quiet reflection, and I couldn't help but feel grateful for the stillness, even amidst the chaos of our journey.
"You okay?" I asked,
"...Yeah," he nodded flipping the phone closed, "I just... feel like such a dick,"
"You didn't know Tommy," I told him,
"I imagine you feel like shit too?"
"Ohh you have no idea... how much of a dick I feel, I didn't believe my own girlfriend. I let them take her away. I didn't believe her, I thought she betrayed us, thought of her as a rat. The woman I love. I let them drag my pregnant girlfriend away screaming and crying thinking she betrayed us. I feel like an utter asshole."
"Yeah, I am so sorry for how I treated her. And for accusing you."
"It's okay Tommy," I nodded,
"I can't believe I never noticed." He sighed, "All this time, she was telling them everything."
"I don't get why, why would she sell us out like that? Why throw Y/n under the bus?"
"Teresa doesn't like her, never has."
"There a reason?"
"I think... differing opinions and mentalities." He chuckled, "Y/n has always been about making our life the best it can be, giving us the best future we can have."
"Even in the glade," I nodded, "She's always known that's what matters, those of us who are left, the price of one person is never worth it no matter what."
"Teresa is the greater good, that one person is worth the price if it buys something else." He sighed, "She would throw us all into the grinder if it would save that city. I just thought the girls didn't agree but I never thought Teresa would...."
"Neither did I." I sighed, "She ratted us out, to get us back in their clutches." I explained, "Let them know every plan just to let them pick us one one by one."
"She is going to get a talkin' too." He said putting the phone in his pocket,
"Can I watch?" I chuckled,
"Ohhh trust me it will be public,"
When he expressed his idea, I couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. However, I didn't want to interrupt his train of thought, so I decided to remain silent and let him continue expressing his thoughts.
When we arrived back at the camp I kept Y/n close giving her tummy lots of little kisses, watching as Vince sorted places for the new kids.
"How are you feeling?" I asked her,
"I'm okay Newt," she nodded,
"You sure honey?"
"Mhm," she nodded,
"How's little baby?"
"kicking away,"
"Did they take care of baby while you were with them?"
"Sort of, had me on a lot of vitamins a lot of tests."
"Okay... can you tell me... what they did to you?"
"I don't want to talk about it Newt," She buried her head into my neck,
"You don't have to tell me, honey, It's okay. So long as you're safe now." I told her kissing her sweet little head, "I promise I will believe everything you tell me, I will never doubt you again for a moment, and I am going to take the best care of you." I told her kissing her tummy,
"Everything I say?" She giggled,
"Okay maybe not 'Everything', I do not believe you if you tell me the ocean is purple or you need to have bacon every day,"
"Awww," she pouted,
"Sorry honey I am not that foolish,"
"Fine," she giggled nuzzling up close,
"Do you... know about the baby?"
"At seven and a half months now, supposedly it's a little boy,"
"A little boy? Awwww!" I cooed, "Our little baby boy," I smiled kissing her stomach,
"TERESA!" Thomas yelled across the camp,
"Ooohh firework time." She giggled nuzzling into my neck as we got cosy and ready to watch,
"You! You were the rat!" He yelled as he walked up to her, of course, everyone came to gather and watch,
"Tom, what are you talking about?!" She protested,
"You were the rat! You've always been on their side!"
"No, I'm not!"
"Yes, you are don't lie! You've been trying to convince us to turn around and go back, the moment we left."
"Yes, becuase this is not safe for us!"
"Safe! Safe!"
"There are cranks! There are insane men! There is so much out here none of us are safe out here! what sticking around in tents waiting for a rust bucket seems safe to you!" She yelled,
"Safer than with them!" He yelled, "They experimented on us! locked us in a maze! tried to drain us for some dumb cure for some old fart to live another two days! They tortured Y/n!"
she shivered and moved closer so I held Y/n even closer kissing her cheek,
"It's okay honey," I whispered,
"They didn't torture her! she's their daughter and their rat they never hurt her!"
"LOOK AT HER!" He yelled, "You say she isn't tortured!" He yelled, "But you're the rat!"
"I'm not!" She yelled,
"Yes, you are! I have your phone!" he pulled the phone from his pocket and immediately her face went pale and nervous,
"Wh- where did you get that?!"
"So you admit it's yours?!"
"It is my phone but where did you get it..."
"Newt found it!"
"Well, Y/n must have been using it,"
"No, she didn't it's your name in the conversation,"
"You can't prove It's me,"
"You're phone. You're name. You're conversation Teresa!" He yelled, "Admit it! You're the rat!"
"Fine! Yes, I am! We should go back thomas! there are so many people we could help if we just go back! All of us!"
"You want to sell us all out for them!" He screamed, "Fine you wanna go back to them GO!"
"We should all go thomas-"
"NO! We are staying here, anyone who wants to go back to wicked can go with you but we are staying here. You! Are not welcome here!"
"But thomas-"
"NOT Welcome here! GO!"
"Fine!" she yelled as she turned and headed to pack up her tent,
Thomas sighed and came to sit down with us,
"How are you feeling Tommy?" I asked,
"... Like... I did something good for once," He sighed,
"I think you did do something good, if she wants to go back to them let her go, You can do way better than a rat Tommy,"
"yeah... at least now we'll all be safer."
As I stood on the boat, I was deep into my work of welding with my torch and wearing a pair of protective goggles. I was concentrating so intensely that time seemed to pass by slowly. Suddenly, I heard someone calling out my name. It took me a moment to register before I realized it was Thomas. I quickly finished what I was doing, turned off the torch and safely put it down. I walked towards the edge of the boat, still wearing my goggles, and looked down to find Thomas standing at the bottom of the stairs. I removed my goggles and greeted him, curious as to what he needed from me.
"YEAH!"
"IT'S Y/n!"
"BABY!?"
"BABY!"
"COMING!" I yelled,
With an urgency that could not be ignored, we bolted down the stairs as if our lives depended on it. We both ran across the camp as fast as we could, our hearts pounding with fear and anticipation. When we finally made it to I and Y/n's tent, we burst inside to find her lying on the makeshift bed we had sorted for her given we needed the space for both us and her bump, surrounded by Sonya and Harriet, who were holding her close and whispering words of comfort to her.
As soon as we saw her, we could tell that she was in the throes of labour. Her face was contorted with pain, and her breathing was coming in short, sharp gasps. Without hesitation, I rushed to her side, taking her hand in mine and kissing her forehead tenderly. At that moment, I felt a surge of love and protectiveness for this woman who was about to bring new life into the world.
"Are you okay honey?" I cooed,
"You think I'm okay!"
"That's fair," I nodded, "I'm here Y/n I promise you I am here," I told her kissing her sweet little face,
As she lay in the bed, writhing in pain, I held her hand tightly, trying to offer any comfort that I could. The sound of her screams reverberated through my chest, and my heart ached to see her in so much agony. I whispered words of encouragement and love, and planted soft kisses on her forehead, hoping that they would ease her discomfort.
Meanwhile, a stern-looking nurse who was Ex wicked but had come to the right arm came to help out, I felt grateful that she was there to take care of the medical aspects of the situation, as I didn't have the faintest clue about what was happening down there.
Suddenly, a loud noise overhead made us all jump. I felt a surge of panic in my chest, and Thomas, who had been pacing nervously outside, rushed out to investigate. A few moments later, he returned, looking relieved but also a little puzzled.
"Newt. We got a problem."
"Which is?"
"They're here."
"Now!"
"yeah..."
"...Shit," I sighed, "Y/n I promise honey I'll be right back okay," I told her kissing her sweetly before I headed out with thomas as the berg landed and out came Ava, Janson and Teresa.
"Tom-" she began,
"Nope." He snapped to her,
"Where's our daughter?" Janson demanded,
"She's kinda busy right now," I told him,
"Let us see her that's all we ask," Ava offered,
"She's busy." I snapped,
"Doing what!" Janson demanded,
"Giving birth!" I yelled, "To our baby so you can get back on your berg and fuck off!"
"She needs real medical attention," Teresa said,
"She's right, she needs real medicine she needs to come with us," Ava explained,
"Y/n is not going anywhere with you!" I told them, "Neither is our baby,"
"We swear we only want what is best for her-" Ava began,
"What is best for her is here. Away from you. That is what she wants to be here, with me."
"Hand her over!" Janson demanded,
"NO!" I yelled,
"Please... she is our daughter, we promise there will be a safe place for her, the baby and for you. Just do the right thing and come with us that is best for her and best for the baby."
"she may be your daughter, but you threw her into the maze, you tossed her away, you tortured her, you. Have. no. right. to see, hear, or be anywhere near our baby, after what you've done to her you think for a moment I would allow you near our baby."
"Give us our daughter!" Janson yelled as he grabbed a gun which he pointed at me but I grabbed my own and pointed it at him, "You think I won't shoot you after you knocked up my daughter,"
"You think I won't shoot you after you tortured the woman I love." I warn him, "You ripped me from my home, you tossed her away, you have tortured all of us, killed my friends, took away any sense of life worth that I had, You took the woman I love from me, you tormented her, and you kept my baby from me. You think for a moment I will let you destroy the only family I have in this world."
"It's the greater good the good of your child and Y/n!" Ava offered,
"...No. There is no greater good anymore, not after what it has already cost us." I told them, "I would let the world burn for her. I could very Very easily pull a trigger." I warn them,
"So could I," He warns,
"And you're keeping me from witnessing the birth of my son, and I am losing my patience." I warn, "So turn around and get back in your berg and fuck off."
"I've had enough of this!" Janson snapped but before even thinking about it I pulled the trigger and he dropped to the ground with half his head missing,
"I am not asking again. Get back in your berg and fuck off!" I demanded,
"Is this really your decision?" Ava asked,
"Yes, it is. And it's final."
"Very well." she nodded heading back into the berg,
"I'm sorry Tom..." Teresa said,
"You are not forgiven." He snapped to her,
She turned around and the two left in the berg, so I quickly gave him the gun,
"Anyone comes back again, shoot them," I told him,
"Understood," he nodded,
As I rushed back into the tent, my heart was racing with fear and anxiety. The sight that greeted me was one that filled me with overwhelming joy and tears. Y/n was lying in bed, her face pale and tired, with the little baby wrapped in her arms. It was a touching and heart-wrenching sight. The girls had left by the time I arrived, so I went over to the bed and sat down beside Y/n. I could see the exhaustion in her eyes as she looked at me, and I knew that she needed someone to be with her at that moment. I put my arm around her and whispered words of comfort, reassuring her that everything would be alright.
"Hi, how are you feeling honey?"
She glared at me,
"Fair enough, sorry." I nodded, "You're safe, you and our little one. You get some rest honey,"
"I need some rest," she nodded, "Thank you newt,"
"You're welcome,"
"You want to hold him?"
"Can I?"
"Of course you can." She smiled handing over our sweet baby boy, I cradled him in my arms, he was so small, so cute, with cute Y/e/C eyes like Y/n's and the little bits of blonde hair like my own,
"He's so perfect, our little baby,"
"Our little boy,"
"I love him already,"
"I do too,"
"ohh uhh, bad news... I shot your father,"
"Oh... I'm surprisingly not upset about that,"
"Good, we have enough to worry about." I chuckled giving the little boy's head a sweet kiss, "He's so beautiful," I cooed, "You have any more ideas about names?"
"I did have one,"
"Ohh?"
"little George,"
"Little George, I think that's perfect Y/n." I cooed kissing his little head and her sweet cheek, "I love you so so much,"
"I love you more," she cooed,
"You rest I'll look after George, I promise I am keeping you both safe for as long as I need to."

Fate
Adam Warlock x Reader
Plot: Who knew a mundane activity could help you to develop a new bond in the strangest of ways?
Genre: PG-13 (Mentions of public attack, please do not read if it triggers you)
A/N: I have no idea why but I suddenly decided to try writing for Adam Warlock! Honestly, Will Poulter caught my eye way back in maze runner (yes I know) and I hope he does well! The movie isn't out yet so I'm leaving a lot to my creativity here. If you like it, do reblog! Feedback is greatly appreciated! Also, if you do like my work and if you can, do tip here!
Tired.
You were so very tired. Yet you were so restless. Somehow the sage advice from your mother rang loud in your ears despite the grueling schedule you had just gone through today.
An exercise will do you some good.
Cursing under your breath, you prepared to head out in your workout gear. As they say, the starting is always the hardest.
Getting into a rhythm with the music, you started on your usual route. Shoes pounding the pavement, you let yourself feel the burn on your thighs.
Sure, you despised running. If there was an easier way, you would take it without a doubt. But there were upsides to it as well.
Such as the fresh air, the familiar scent of spring, and freshly baked croissants mixed together.
It was definitely not the man that you ran face-first into.
As you collide with him, you almost bounce off right into the parked car at the side of the pavement. Bracing for the impact, you didn't expect a pair of arms to wrap you by the waist.
"Are you alright? I mean, did I hurt you? That's what Quill told me to say if I offended someone." The man mumbled the last part loud enough for you to hear. You can't help but be amused at his choice of words. Standing back upright, you're able to take a better look at the man- scratch that.
You were looking at a god.
His skin was unbelievably golden as if it was kissed by the sun. It certainly didn't help that his chiseled features were staring at you unabashedly with piercing eyes.
Snapping out of your stupor, you nod a little too fast for your liking. You allow your eyes to run, hovering over his figure, wondering how hard you must have run into him to almost get a concussion.
Or was it the other way around?
Get your head out of the gutter.
"I wouldn't say you offended me. I wasn't really watching where I was going either." You gave your most amicable smile. To your slight disappointment, the man seems to be lost in thought as he stares beyond you.
Get real and get your arse moving. You have no business with him anyway, he's just some stranger whom you bumped into-
You attempt to sidestep him to continue your journey when he grabs you once more right as a blast throws the two of you back onto the ground.
Ears ringing, you realize the man's trying to rouse you from your shock. All you can see is chaos as people around you run frantically for shelter.
Carrying you away from the open, he gently places you down. You struggle to get your hearing back but you know what he's trying to tell you.
"Stay here."
Before you can argue, he leaves the temporary shelter he found for you and walks into the open. Just what was he thinking?
"Are you mad! You'll get yourself killed!" You screamed enough for your throat to go hoarse.
The man looks over his shoulder, an unreadable expression on his face. And then, the unbelievable happens.
Eyes glowing bright yellow, he leaps into the adjacent building with frightful speed, crashing the windows on his way through. A flash of bright light and soon enough, the assault on the streets stops.
You don't realize how hard you're trembling until a hand rests on your shoulder. You are now looking at a woman with big black eyes and antennas attached to her head staring at you curiously.
"Go to sleep."
***
You jolt with shock, panting wildly. What kind of a crazy dream was that? You were positive you were going insane with all the recent stress.
Wait... this wasn't your house. Why did you feel like you were on a moving spaceship?
Scrambling out of the covers, you press the button, planning a great escape. You see a knife discarded at the entrance. Yeap. You had to get out of here.
Arming yourself with the weapon, you creep out of the room and make your way to the front of whoever kidnapped you. As you inch forward, you could hear hushed voices trying to climb over each other at once.
"What were you thinking Adam? I mean I'm reckless but this is a whole new level! What if someone saw you?"
"Reckless is an understatement. You should have seen Quill, he was a hot mess."
"Not now Rocket! Drax can you check on sleeping beauty? The mechanics should have worked by now."
At the mention of what you presume to be you, you raise your knife and make the most intimidating face you can conjure at this moment.
"Somebody has three seconds to tell me what I'm doing on a flying spaceship or I'll cut someone's head off. Trust me, I can be pretty mean with this knife."
You see the man- Adam as you have learned staring at you along with the rest. Seeing how no one was making their move, you advance forward, holding the knife to his throat.
To your shock, Adam smirks, pushing away the tip of the knife with his ring finger without breaking eye contact with you. "Drax, you should really keep an eye on your stuff you know."
Another man with a hulking figure and dark green skin shrugs helplessly. "Sorry."
The third man in a red leather jacket rushes over to stop the altercation. "Please put the knife down. We have not kidnapped you. In fact, we haven't left Earth yet. Remember the blast? My name is Peter Quill and if you would we can explain everything to you."
You turn your attention to him, letting Peter continue.
You can't believe your ears- that have now been equipped with some sort of alien tech, courtesy of the talking raccoon that was tinkering away at the control panels, oblivious to the absurdity of it all.
"The blast affected your hearing and Adam bought you here to get it fixed. It may be a little weird but you feel comfortable in no time."
You nod numbly, trying to process this information. "Can I speak to Adam in private please?"
Peter nods, ushering the others who seemed eager to stay. Once the doors to the smaller rooms had slid shut, you approached the man.
"I appreciate what your team has done but I don't get it. Why did you help me? You could have just left me."
Adam pauses and for a split second, you're positive that he's almost zoning out on you.
"You were concerned about me. No one was ever concerned for me before."
You frown at his admission, silently sitting beside him.
“Well, I don’t know what you went through but you deserve every bit of concern. Even if you can fly through buildings and practically indestructible.” You hold his hand to which causes him to freeze momentarily.
But you don’t let go. Instead, you wait for him. Confused, Adam slowly interlocks his fingers with yours before holding it tighter. He looks at you, as if to seek your approval.
“Thank you Adam. Thank you for saving me.”
Your intimate moment was broken by his team as they stumbled out of the room, a lopsided grin on Quill’s face that you choose to ignore. Even so, Adam doesn’t let go of your hand.
“Well then! I hope that settles everything. I’m so sorry but we really must get going. And I’m not going to be accused of kidnapping another human into space.”
You blushed apologetically to which the rest of the team accepts good naturally with the exception of the raccoon whom which you were still weirded out by to be honest.
Walking down the steps, you see Adam slowly trailing behind you, hesitant to leave to god knows where. You see that he’s struggling to form his words, so you decide to take the lead.
“If you come back to Earth again, I’ll be happy to show you around.”
He blinks at your offer, breaking into a smile. “I’ll love that.” Adam strides over to you, giving you a last goodbye hug before getting back into the jet, leaving his lingering trace of his embrace.
You can’t explain it but as you watch the jet soar into the skies, you feel like you will see him again very soon.
Just like your first encounter, it would be fate.

My first ever fic on tumblr, lol.. i hope u guys like it :))
In the early dawn, the glade was alive with the hum of activity. Thomas, still new to the group, was already finding his place among the other boys. They moved together, each knowing their role in the daily routine that kept this place thriving. The scent of cooking fires mingled with the dew-laden grass as the sun began to peek over the towering walls that surrounded them.
The sky above was a canvas of pinks and oranges, the light dancing off the leaves of the trees that grew in an orderly fashion around the clearing. It was as if nature itself had laid out a path for them to follow, a silent guide in this otherwise mysterious world. The air was cool and fresh, hinting at the secrets the day would soon reveal.
Gally took a deep breath, feeling the tension that lingered just beneath the surface of everything. Everyone else seemed to ignore it, but he couldn't shake the feeling that something was about to happen. He watched as the runners returned from their early morning laps, sweat shining on their skin, muscles flexing as they moved.
Suddenly, a low rumbling cut through the serenity of the glade. The boys paused in their tasks, heads tilting upwards as they listened. The sound grew louder, a grating intrusion in their peaceful world. It was the box, rising from the depths of the maze much sooner than expected. A flicker of unease passed over their faces. The box was here way too early.
"What is that?" Thomas asked. Newt being the only other person near him at the time dropped his tools and put his hand on his forehead.
"The box is coming back up but — it's way too early for them to be sending anyone…" He mumbled the last part. "But it can't be resources either… I think it's a person."
"What?" Thomas scoffed, walking over to where the song was coming from along with Newt and the rest of the glade. "Why would they send anyone if it's too early?"
“You’re asking me as if I know.” Newt folds his arms.
“Well, you’ve been here than me I would’ve thought-” Thomas paused when the sound grew louder, his voice was with a mix of curiosity and fear. The rumbling grew closer, the earth beneath their feet vibrating gently with each mechanical jolt.
The group gathered around the hole in the ground where the box normally emerged, their eyes fixed on the distant corner where the box would soon appear. The walls themselves seemed to be holding their breath in anticipation. The grinding noise grew louder, the metal beast rising from the earth with a shudder that sent a chill down Thomas's spine. The box emerged from the shadows.
Inside was…you? A girl?
Your eyes fluttered open, and you gasped for breath, the smells of metal and dust filling your nose as you took in the faces of the stunned group of boys. Your clothes were tattered, and your skin was riddled with dirt, but the look of shock on their faces wasn't for your appearance. It was because you were a girl, and you were sent way too early something they hadn't seen in a very, very long time.
The box shuddered to a halt. The door creaked open, revealing the cramped space you had been confined in. You backed into the corner, legs wobbly and unsteady from the journey. The group of boys parted, creating a pathway for Gally to walk through. Before he reached the box, Thomas stepped forward, hand outstretched to help you, but you shied away, eyes wide with fear and confusion.
“I’m not going to hurt you,” he says, voice quiet to not alarm you. “None of us will.”
Thomas stared, feeling as if he recognized you but…it wasn't clicking. You were so out of place here, a stark contrast to the world of boys he'd known since he woke up in the glade with no memory. His mind raced, trying to piece together why you were here, what this meant. The glade had always been a place of order, of understanding their roles and sticking to the rules. Now, everything was off.
The other boys whispered among themselves, a mix of awe and suspicion. Gally's eyes narrowed, a scowl etching itself onto his features. He was the first to break the silence, his voice harsh and accusatory. "What is she doing here?"
“Do you really have to act like that right now? She’s clearly scared.” Thomas grumbled, very fed up with Gally at this point.
Alby, the leader of the glade, pushed through the crowd, his eyes never leaving yours. "Looks like she's been through a lot. Get her to the med hut.” His tone was gentle but firm, a stark contrast to Gally's aggression.
As Thomas helped you out of the box and to the medical hut with Gally, Alby, and Newt following close behind, your hand trembled in his, and he couldn't help but wonder what horrors you had faced. The glade was a harsh place, but it was their home, and the arrival of an outsider, especially a girl, was unprecedented. The whispers grew louder, questions and theories flying around like leaves in a storm. The glade's rhythm was disrupted, and the unease grew stronger with each step you took away from the box.
Once inside the medical hut, the other boys hovered around, eager to help, but you remained guarded. The healer, a gentle-hearted boy named Clint, began to examine you. His eyes searched yours, looking for signs of recognition or understanding. But you were a blank slate, a girl with no name and no memory of how you got here, like the rest. The stitches on your forehead, a stark reminder of your journey, stood out against your skin.
Gally's shadow loomed outside the hut, his suspicion thick enough to be felt through the walls. His arms were crossed tightly over his chest, and his jaw was set. "Why the hell did they send a girl," he spat. "What is this, some sort of prank? Ever since you got here, stuff started to go wrong. And now a girl is here."
Thomas felt his temper rising. He had seen enough fear in those first moments when he arrived to understand how you must feel. "It doesn’t matter how or where she came from, we can't just leave her to fend for herself," he countered, his voice firm but not confrontational. "We need to help her, find out who she is."
Newt, who had been quietly observing from the side, spoke up. "It's never been like this before, man. Girls aren't sent here." His eyes searched yours, filled with a curiosity that matched Thomas's.
Alby sighs and takes a seat next to you. "Do you know your name or where…where you came from?"
You looked around the small, makeshift medical area. "I-I don't know," you stammered, your voice cracking. "I don't remember anything."
The room fell silent, the weight of your words pressing down on them like a heavy blanket. The boys shared looks, a mix of concern and confusion. Alby's eyes softened. "We'll figure it out," he assured you, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. "You're safe here."
"Thomas, Gally, watch her. I'm going to try and find something to get the dirt off of her. Make sure none of the other boys get to her. God knows what the hell they'll do. Newt, cmon." Alby sighs before walking out, Newt stopping next to Thomas.
“And make sure Gally doesn’t choke her out.” He whispers before finally leaving.
Thomas nods solemnly, his eyes never leaving yours. "Don't worry, I'll make sure you're okay." His voice is gentle, the first hint of kindness you've heard since you woke up in this strange place. You nod slightly, not trusting your voice to speak again. The other boys start to disperse, their whispers and stares still following you like a cloud of bees.
Once Alby is out of earshot, Gally turns to Thomas with a snarl. "I don't trust her," he says, his eyes flicking to you and then back to Thomas.
Thomas's grip tightens around the spear he's holding. "Gally, you're not — that's a stupid assumption to make, okay?"
"After you came here, shit started to spiral out of control and now we have a girl here? You think I'm stupid for assuming she could be a danger to us?!" Gally's voice raised slightly, your ears perking to his voice. His eyes landed on you, sighing and pulling Thomas away. "She doesn't know her name and she doesn't remember where she came from."
“You trusted me, didn’t you?”
“…That’s different.” Gally groans. “We don’t get sent girls.”
Thomas's gaze remained steady. "The point is we treat her like we would any newbie. Help her, keep her safe, and figure out what the hell is going on." His voice was firm, leaving no room for argument.
Gally looked skeptical, but nodded begrudgingly. "Fine. But if she causes any trouble…" He left the threat hanging in the air, his eyes dark.
"I'm cold…" you mumble. Gally's face contorted.
"It's not even cold outside, how are you cold-?" Gally began, but was cut off by Thomas' gentle nudge.
"Let's get her a blanket, okay?" Thomas offered with a kind smile. You nodded, feeling a small spark of gratitude for his understanding. He left the hut and returned moments later with a warm, woolen blanket that smelled faintly of the glade's flora. Wrapping it around you, he sat down opposite, his eyes never leaving yours.
"What's your name?" he asked softly. The question was simple, but it held a world of meaning in this place where everything was a puzzle.
You searched your thoughts, but the fog was thick and heavy. "I-I don't know," you replied, your voice quivering. "They never told me."
Gally leaned against the wall. "Well, until you remember, your name is Greenie." His tone was not unkind, but it was firm, a reminder that until you had proven yourself, you were still a puzzle piece that didn't quite fit.
Thomas flinched at the term, but you just nodded, pulling the blanket tighter around your shoulders. "Ignore him, okay? I'm gonna check on Alby to see where he is with the stuff. Gally, be nice to her." He shot a look at Gally before exiting the medical hut, leaving you and Gally in an awkward silence.
Gally took a deep breath, his features softening slightly. "Look, I'm not trying to be an ass," he began, his voice gruff. "It's just that we don't get girls here, and the last thing we need is for you to mess up our routine. No kidding, you’re surrounded by boys who haven’t seen a girl in years. Who knows what the hell they’d do to you.”
You nodded, not knowing how to respond. The walls of the hut felt as if they were closing in on you, suffocating you with their unspoken questions and accusations. Your eyes searched the room, landing on the shelves filled with medical supplies and makeshift weapons. You felt utterly out of place, a wildflower in a field of thorns.
Gally's gaze softened, sensing your distress. "Look, I'm not saying you're gonna cause trouble, but we just need to be careful, alright?" He paused, his eyes searching yours for understanding. "Everything changes now, and we need to stick together."
"…What's your name?" you ask. The question felt strange on your lips, foreign and yet familiar at the same time. Gally's eyes narrowed, his arms still crossed.
"I told you; I don't trust you so I'm not tellin'," he replied curtly. "Until then, I'm kinda like your superior or whatever."
You tilted your head, even pouting. "That guy before kept saying Gally and Thomas but I don't know which one is which," you whispered. Gally's stance didn't change, but something in his eyes did, a flicker of something that wasn't quite anger or suspicion anymore.
"Fine," he huffed. "It's Gally." He pointed to Thomas' empty spot. "And that's Thomas. He's the one who brought you in here."
You studied him, the name 'Gally' echoing faintly in your mind like the distant chime of a bell. "Thank you, Gally."
He nodded curtly, still keeping his guard up. "Look, I'm sorry if I'm being harsh, but we've got a system here. It keeps us all alive, and we can't have anyone messing with it. Do you understand?"
You nodded, the warmth of the blanket beginning to seep into your bones. "Yes, you’ve…said that. I won't cause any trouble," you promised, your voice small and hopeful.
Gally sighed, his stance relaxing slightly. "Good."
You twiddled your thumbs, now avoiding eye contact. You still wanted to talk, but you didn't know about what. So, you started to ramble.
"So…what is this place? And — hlong have you been in here?" you asked, trying to piece together the puzzle of this strange place. Gally's eyes searched the room, as if looking for answers in the shadows.
"Too long," he murmured, his voice distant. "A couple of years, I think." He paused, considering his words. "It's hard to keep track of time when every day is the same. And no one really knows what this place is.”
The silence that followed was filled with the unspoken understanding of lives lived in a perpetual cycle of fear and survival. You could see the weariness in Gally's eyes, the weight of his responsibilities etched into the lines of his face. "What's it like outside this place?" you whispered, the curiosity burning like a tiny flame in the pit of your stomach.
Gally's expression darkened. "We don’t know. Like I said, we’ve been stuck in here for years." he said bluntly. "You should be worrying about what it’s like in here. Especially for a girl." His voice held a warning, a clear boundary you were not to cross. Yet, the curiosity grew stronger, the need to understand this world that was now your home.
"You seem to care a lot about me being a girl in here. So like, are you gonna protect me or something? Since it's too much for a girl like me?" You asked Gally, your voice a mix of hope and challenge.
Gally looked at you, his eyes narrowing slightly. Was she flirting with him? No, he’s just crazy. "I'm not saying that."
"Well, you're acting like because I'm a girl, I can't survive in here so does that mean you're gonna protect me, yes or no?" You questioned, your voice a little stronger than before.
Gally sighed and rubbed his eyes. "Look, it's not like that. It's just…-"
"Then what is it?" You push your hair out of your face, causing Gally to choke on his words.
"I-uh, I just-" He stammers before stopping. "Look, Thomas is the one who'll be looking after you."
"But why can't you?" You press, feeling a strange need to understand the dynamics of this place.
Gally's eyes harden. "Because Thomas is the nicest one of us all. He's the one who can handle…this." He gestures at you, his voice laced with something you can't quite pinpoint.
"But he's not the one saying I won't make it because I'm a girl. It's you. You seem to care a lot." You looked up at him, your eyes searching his, trying to understand the complex emotions that played across his face.
Gally's cheeks flushed slightly. "It's not that, it's just…" He trailed off, at a loss for words. "The glade isn't for the weak." His voice was gruff, but the way he said it suggested that he didn't believe you were weak, just different.
"Well, I'm not weak." you slide off the bed and walk over to him, the height difference between you stark. "I've survived whatever they put me through to get here. I can survive this."
Gally's jaw tightens, his eyes never leaving yours. "You might think you're strong, but the glade and the maze…it's not like anything you've ever faced. I mean, you won’t be going into the maze, anyway. We're all here for a reason, and none of us are weak. But we're also all we've got." His words hang in the air, a stark reminder of the precariousness of your situation.
You stand tall, the blanket falling from your shoulders. "I'm not going anywhere. And I'll do whatever it takes to survive." Your voice is steady, the resolve in it unmistakable. Gally stares at you, his expression unreadable.
"I guess we'll see," he says finally, turning away. "For now, you need to rest. We'll figure out your role once you're feeling better." His words are dismissive, but the tension in his shoulders suggests he's still processing what you've said.
You scoff and walk back over to the bed, sitting down and turning away from him. Gally notices the blanket on the floor, wondering if he should pick it up and give it to you or if he should let you stay cold. He wanted to leave it, but - ugh, he couldn't. He picks the blanket up and storms over, putting it around your shoulders. "Here," he says gruffly, his face a mask of frustration. "Don't get too comfortable, Greenie. We've got work to do and I'm not carrying you around."
You look up at him, a hint of a smile playing at the corner of your mouth. "Thank you," you murmur, your eyes never leaving his. Gally clears his throat, uncomfortable under your gaze. He turns to leave, needing to get out of the room before he says something else stupid.

I know it’s a terrible idea, but I can’t say no to him. The thing is, I need to know what to wear tonight.”
Naya groaned on the line, and he totally got her. He was being an idiot and he knew it. “I’m sorry okay! I’m bloody sorry, but I need the bloody buggers to believe that I’m trying to impress him.”

My head canon is that all the gladers probably had their first crushes on Newt because humans generally are drawn to the people who show compassion and care for them and Newt kinda fits that being the glade mommy.

"Are you going to see him anytime soon," he asked.
Newt shrugged, "I don't know. Maybe not. It's hard."
Or; This is Newts journey after the last city crumbles. He struggles to find himself and to except himself. But luckily he’s surrounded by plenty of people to help him figure it out.
Art Isn't Easy (But Nothing Is) - palindrome
Words: 4,176 Chapters: 1/1

Words: 65,562 Chapters: 4/4
Flowershop au
“You can go if you want to,” Thomas says, squinting against the sun and leaning toward Newt. The light pales the colour of his eyes, reminding Newt of uncut jewels; sharp and striking and beautiful in their raw imperfection. His heart stutters, a dreadful pull of longing he hasn’t felt for a very long time.
(Or: No one ever tells you that when the world is ending, it happens in slow motion.)
Meet in the middle - Fairylights4672
Words: 56,555 Chapters: 40/40
Newt remembers it. He remembers the sleek metal of the knife easily sliding into his flesh. He remembers the sickly black views running up his arms, making him crazed and delirious. He remembers dying. Which only makes him confused when he wakes up, cured and healed. What's even more confusing is when he wakes up, only to see dead people staring back at him.
Thomas still feels the hilt in his hand. He feels the weight as Newt sank to the ground underneath him. He feels the last soft breath Newt let out. He remembers Newt dying. But he can't sit still. Not when danger is calling him. Thomas has never been able to resist the pull of danger.
Secrets - tattered_dreams
Words: 3,696 Chapters: 1/1
In which the kids of Maze University play Spin the Bottle at one of Minho's parties.
You are my dirty little secret- amatus_jj
Words: 3,879 Chapters: 1/1
“He probably thinks now that something is up,” the dark haired boy muttered unhappily. “He definitely will suspect something.”
“Oh please,” Newt chuckled, “it’s Minho we are talking about. He’ll forget everything the moment he sees Teresa.”
“But what if he’ll not?” Thomas asked stubbornly.
“So what? Nothing’s really gonna change, you know,” Newt exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air.
“Yeah, you won’t be the one Minho will kill,” the other boy muttered, frowning. “No, we both know how he’s overprotective over you. It doesn’t matter that you aren’t brothers by blood, he still thinks about you as his younger brother. What do you think he would think when he found out that his best friend was-,” there was a little pause as Thomas tried to pick the right word, “- banging his little brother behind his back?”
Or: Thomas and Newt are in relationships no one knows about.
We live through scars now - lumoon33

Thomas was so focused on trying to keep on breathing without Newt, that he's never wondered why it was so difficult to breathe without him in the first place.
A smitten disease - freckleddragon
Words: 3,153 Chapters: 1/1
The walls were moving, he was sure of it. He was running, or stumbling, through the maze, seeing not only the walls but also the floors moving up and down, from side to side. What was happening?
In where Thomas is sick in more than one way.
Housemates - Sandersonsister
Words: 34,524 Chapters: 17/17
Thomas shouldn't have let Teresa talk him into moving into a house with a bunch of people he didn't know. Of course there's someone he's attracted to living here. Because that's the way his life works. He shouldn't have listened to Teresa.
Campfire choices - tattered_dreams

Huge paragraph about me:
❥. Hii! You might know me from TikTok as @jazzyshifterr. If you don’t my name is Jazzy and I’m a reality shifter! If you don’t know what reality shifting is I would suggest searching for that first. I’ve been a part of the shifting community since 2020 but have been more active in it since around October of 2023. i have never successfully shifted but I’ve mini-shifted once. my main drs in detail is my main harry potter dr, based on the fan fiction TBWL (the who loved) by scribblingquills on wattpad. my s/o in that dr is harry. My next few Hogwarts drs aren’t as important as the first one, I have a modern no plot dr, a Slytherin dr, and a marauders dr. the next de ill be tell you guys about is my maze runner dr. My s/o in this one is Minho. Next we have my Percy Jackson dr. My s/o in this dr is Percy. I have a few other drs but I’ll spare you the details and tell you a little more about myself. I’ve known about shifting for a while but only really got into it around the end of last year. In the short time I’ve been learning about the different parts of shifting I have gained so much information. I learned about the CIA documents(these are not directly linked to shifting but are a good source to learn from, however please do not refer people to this document when talking about shifting, as it’s about astral projection and not shifting), the Robert Monroe experiment/experience, quantum leaping, astral projection, consciousness studies, lucid dreaming, and lastly astronomy based shifting. These are most of the things I have learned obviously in little detail. Soon I will post some more posts going into details on these discoveries as well as scripting things and many other things related to shifting. I’m also a fan fiction writer! My tag on Wattpad is the same as tumblr, TikTok, and Instagram, I go by jazzyshifterr on just about every social I have. I’ve not written much but you’re obviously welcome to check that out if you want to. Another thing about me is that I’ve never shifted before. So right now at least there will be no content on my shifting experiences, such as story times. I will still by trying to publish things about my progress in my journey though. I’ve also made shifting methods I’ll post about soon enough! I know there are so many methods it’s hard to keep up with new ones, but I hope anything that I make for you guys can help you in some way. Whether that helps you shift, or even just learn something about yourself. This is the first time I’ve ever had tumblr and I know this was a lot to read, but I really do hope my time on here can not only help you guys but also help me as well in my shifting journey. Remember we are all capable and are all able to shift. Thanks for reading this whole thing, I really appreciate it, have a good day. <3

INTRODUCTION POST
Hello! My name is Vane. I'm 19 years old, Canadian, a Virgo and an ambivert with anger issues.
I've been attempting to shift since 2020, during the pandemic and my own personal crisis that made that year likely the most miserable point in my life. I have not yet shifted, but I have come very close, especially recently.
Below I've listed some of the fandoms I'm "part of" (often I find that fandom behaviour can be rather toxic and try to avoid it), places that I'm shifting, as well as some information about "fictional" places that you can use however you see fit to determine your image of me. I've also listed the rules and expectations of this blog, and if you don't agree with them, please DNI. If rules are broken, you will be blocked.
Favourite Shifting Takes (of mine):
Permashifting; I Know The End by Phoebe Bridgers
Shifting Realities VS Shifting Goals (mindset)
Rules (please consider before interacting):
No anti-shifters
Keep your shifttok logic FAR away from me
No discouraging comments to myself or others
If you think my information is incorrect, please inform me POLITELY, and we can discuss it if you'd like (I generally won't post something if I haven't made sure my information is right, but everyone makes mistakes, so if I am in fact wrong, I'd be happy to correct it)
I don't approve of of any DRs specifically made for killing or hurting people and I do not support them, so do not encourage or speak about them on my page
That being said, I think the concept that you should NEVER hurt/kill anyone in any DR is bullshit, so if it's something like Marvel or ASOIAF, Maze Runner, etc. where it may become necessary, I think that is perfectly acceptable
Race changing doesn't hurt anybody because the reality where you are a different race already exists so leave people alone if that's what they choose to do (but if you do race change, please make sure you're being respectful because other people's experiences are not your costumes)
Shifting to feel loved, to experience a better childhood, to have more control over your life or even just as escapism is perfectly fine. Shifting is a tool at your disposal and up to your own discretion.
Age-changing is fine
Permashifitng is not unhealthy or bad, it is very possible, and if you choose to do it, I wish you all the best
All shifters are valid, including those who haven't shifted yet or who are still trying to reset from all of the misinformation they were likely fed from early shifttok
If I missed anything, I may come back to update this list later
Now onto the more fun part!

Living Prism
Living Prism, Hebdomad Press, 2013
Living Prism is a modern-day game of supernatural conspiracies. You'll find a lot that's familiar here - a hidden society and low-end supernatural power in the depths of a city's underbelly - so I'm going to focus on what makes it different.
The name of the game refers to your character's ability to split themselves into multiple "facets", presumably because "rays" sounded a little weird. (I, personally, can split myself into Ray Stantz and Ray Terrill, so that's pretty awesome.) Each facet has only a fraction of your abilities and being, which doesn't sound great until you find out that you get to define which specific fractions. You can make a facet that holds your tangibility for you, letting you pass through solid matter. You can create a facet that doesn't have your sense of pain so that it can fight for you. Really, they're all you, so you're the one fighting for you, but you generally just play a gestalt self rather than individual facets. Re-merging your facets requires physical contact.
Living Prism is a Fate derivative, which I think is a great choice of system. It uses Aspects to handle the many different ways you might assemble a facet. The game encourages you to be creative but stick to low-level powers. Tucking all of your weight into a facet will not give you the ability to fly, but you might float on the wind. However, giving away the fact that you reflect light in order to become jet-black and hide in the shadows is perfectly ok. It's very much driven by GM-party consensus. Skills include Exploration, Investigation, Subterfuge, and Athletics.
Your society revolves around a strange pool of light found deep within the hidden subway tunnels of Amsterdam. The first Living Prisms were unhoused people and urban explorers some forty years ago who found the pool and were changed by it. Since then, they've worked their way into all kinds of strange situations, discovering ghosts, angels, demons, mole-men, dimensional shifters, and my personal favorite, naturally-evolved AI-like organisms that live in communications networks.
There are several factions to belong to, each with a strong central thesis that guides their actions. One of the weaknesses of the setting is that there's no good reason for these factions to work together unless it's a "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" kind of way.
Living Prism went through several incarnations before becoming what it is now. It started as WoD netbook "Digger: the Invisible", shifted drastically into modern-day Battlelords-inspired "Matrix Runner" (well before the Maze Runner books), settled back toward urban fantasy as the homebrewed "Urban Light", and finally became the Fate adaptation it is now. It's a wild journey. If you have copies of any of the earlier versions, send them my way - I'd love to review Matrix Runner, but all I have right now is memories of a long-gone tattered copy that somehow found its way into the public library.
#review#rpg#ttrpg#imaginary#indie ttrpg#thankfully you're not a triangular piece of glass#that would be a really different game#probably not a very good one

You Know You Don't Have To Ask
Media - The Maze Runner Series Character - Newt Couple - Newt X Reader Reader - Y/n Rating - Adorable +Sad Word Count - 3125
I stood and gazed out at the haunting scene before me. The skeletal remains of buildings jutted out from the barren landscape, surrounded by the decaying hulks of cars left to be swallowed by the shifting sands. The relentless sun beat down, baking the world into a dry, desolate desert.
I watched with a twisting tightness on my chest, at Newt.
He perched precariously on the edge of the rooftop, taking in the desolate panorama that stretched out before him, a stark contrast to the bustling activity of the nearby encampment. His worn boots, caked with layers of dust and grime, barely clung to his feet, the laces frayed and loose. The sun-bleached cargo trousers, once a deep shade of khaki, now bore the marks of countless journeys through harsh terrain, their fabric worn and faded. His once pristine white t-shirt had become a muted shade of grey, a testament to the passage of time and the rigours of his environment. The threadbare green button-down, missing several buttons, offered limited protection against the elements, while the thin red jacket, its collar turned up for added defence, shielded his neck from the unrelenting sun. His skin had tanned somewhat since our escape as if the sun was trying to bake him too. But I suppose we all had a bit of that. His blonde hair in desperate need of a trim seemed to glow gold in the sunlight.
I wanted to give him his space, he clearly wanted to be alone. I couldn't blame him after all, even after all this time together we still need our time alone. And given all we had lost of late... I didn't want to disturb him.
But he spoke up, "Hiding in the dark doesn't mean I don't know you're there love," He chuckled,
I let my smile break and went over sitting beside him, "Hi Newt,"
"Hi Y/n," He forced a smile back,
"Can I?" I asked my Y/e/C eyes peering into his brown ones,
"You know you don't have to ask," he smiled more genuinely and closed the gap between us letting us share a sweet soft kiss. When we pulled back his eyes flicked down at me and back up again, "Excuse me?"
"...What?" I feigned my innocence,
"That's my coat," He complained, "What are you doing with it?"
I looked down at Newt's fluffy aviator coat around me and blushed, "Wearing it,"
"Don't get smart with me," he chuckled kissing my forehead, "Is it keeping you cosy?"
"Mhm," I nodded,
"Alright, then you can wear it," He rolled his eyes, "But I want it back after dinner,"
"Fine," I sighed, "What are you doing out here?" I asked after a few moments of silence,
"...Thinking, Breathing, Existing I suppose,"
"Don't get smart with me,"
"Sorry," he chuckled, "It's complicated Y/n..."
"Do you want to tell me or..."
"I... I need to,"
"You don't have to tell me anything Newt,"
"I do. I really do." He nodded, "I... I can't hide this anymore,"
He sighed and slowly pulled up his sleeve, and there it was. Not a single word needed to be spoken. His forearm had grown pale, the veins below his skin in various stages of darkening, some only a pale grey, others black as night. Some of the more prominent veins had even raised up out of his skin, the infection crawling growing through him like ivy crawling into every crack and crevice. It reached his wrist and I didn't know how high on his arm it went as he only rolled it up to his elbow but it was clear it went beyond that.
"I've been thinking... maybe Wicked just put me in there, so they could tell the difference between immunes like you and people like me."
"Newt... don't say that," I took his hand,"
"But it's true... it has to be, if some of us weren't immune what other reason were we there?" He asked his voice getting choked up, "That's all I ever was. All Winston ever was. The moment we came out we both got infected... We were nothing but controls."
"Newt." I stopped him taking his cheeks in my hands, "You are not a control. You are not an experiment. You're Newt." I remind him, "You're newt. No matter why you were in there, no matter what reasons they might have had you're still you. You still did what you did, became the person you did, made the friends you did... Because you're you." I told him, "And you know I love you,"
"I love you too," A tear slipped from his left eye tumbling down his cheek so I wiped it away with my thumb, "You- You always know how to fix me, Y/n," He smiled, "... But I don't think even you can fix this." He said looking down at his arm, "I'm going to die, Aren't I? Just like Winston, like Ben and Alby. I'll turn into a vicious, mindless crank. I- I won't be able to stop myself from hurting you."
"... You might, but that's a long way off." I told him, "For now we'll work together trying things to slow it down. Hopefully, we will find something soon that will help."
"I hope so," He nodded, "Y/n..."
"Yes, Newt?"
"You know I love you, so much," he batted his nose against mine, "Since the moment I met you."
"I know Newt, I love you too." I cooed, "You know that don't you?"
"I do, I just... I want to make sure I tell you every day from now on. Just- Just in case I-"
Silence lingered,
"Okay," I nodded, "Come on let's see what the med tent has that might keep you from feeling so sick."
"Okay," he nodded, "Y/n?"
"Yes, Newt?"
"Can I?"
"You know you don't have to ask," I chuckled giving his lips a soft and sweet kiss, this kiss was longer than most of our common kisses, he was savouring it and I suppose I was too. But when we pulled back I kissed his forehead and took his hand to help him up and back towards camp.
I sat in the back of the jeep, my feet up on the seat a blanket over my legs, I hadn't gone to sleep with it but I know Newt must have put it over me while I was sleeping. Newt sat in the back with me too, when I had gone to sleep he was sat with his back against the door and his feet up against the centre console between the front seats, my head had been on his chest while we got some sleep. But he had since moved sitting with his back against the seat back, my head on his shoulder as he tapped the small metal box with his fingertips.
"Medicine time?" I asked sitting up and rubbing my eyes,
"I-" He tried to begin,
"It was medicine time twenty minutes ago," Fry spoke up from the front seat where he was driving, thomas asleep in the passenger seat, "He's avoiding it."
"I'll avoid you in a minute," Newt protested kicking Fry's seat,
I just glared at him,
"Sorry..."
"It's alright, you should have woke me anyway,"
"I didn't want to, you were sleeping too soundly,"
"Doesn't matter," I told him, I took the metal box from him and opened it up revealing everything we had packed for our trip to the city for him. Glass ampules full of what little medication seemed to be helping him, needles, and bandages and anything else we may have needed. I grabbed the ampule and snapped it to open it up, I grabbed a new needle and took up the dose, all while Newt sat and watched me.
He was growing disillusioned with it all, but I can't blame him. The Virus was growing fast, and the cure moved slowly. But We couldn't just do nothing.
I held his hand softly in my own and made him pull back his sleeve to see how it crawled so violently through him. I slowly gave him the injection finding it hard to meet his eyes when I did, I made sure to strike the centre with my needle even if it filled me with rage. The exact spot where Wicked had injected him when we first arrived at the compound, was the centre of his virus. We all wished to believe it was just the only fresh open wound that just happened to be where the virus found its way in... but part of me couldn't avoid thinking they had done this on purpose to him. But the medicine did its job and already had taken some of the smaller grey veins away as it began its work.
"There we go, all better." I smiled as I packed everything away,
"I think I'm a bit far from all better Y/n," he said sadly,
"Better," I told him rubbing his nose with mine which forced him to smile,
"Do you think... as I was a very big brave boy... Can I?"
"You know you don't have to ask," I smiled giving him a soft kiss before we cuddled up on the backseat once more,
"Still as adorable and annoying as in the glade," Fry said as he drove,
"Jealous," Newt kicked his seat again,
"Newt?"
"Yes, Y/n?" He looked down at me,
"Can I?" I asked,
"You know you don't have to ask," he chuckled giving my lips another soft kiss.
I felt the weight of the world as it crumbled around me. Both literally and figuratively. The last city had begun to crumble, fires raging and glass-shattering, buildings tumbling down like sandcastles. The dark shy lit by the light of destruction, of red flame rather than the cold blue light of wicked.
It was over. Wicked was over.
But then... where does that leave us?
Brenda and Fry had gotten out everyone they could from the Wicked labs everyone who could and wanted to be saved. Minho and Gally ran ahead to meet up with them to get us out of the city before it came down on our heads. And ... to fetch the last of the serums.
Thomas and I carried Newt in our arms, the two of us forcing him to walk as he argued and protested every step of the way, screaming and crying at us to leave him behind.
In the city the virus had spread in him faster than anything we could do to contain it, I had been giving him every medication we could find but nothing had worked. Now all that remained was his own willpower to fight against it, but even that was failing him. The pain was too much for him to even walk.
The last serum, the only one we had yet to try was with Brenda across the city, but that was a long walk away.
For a moment we had to stop, putting Newt down on the cold pavement as thomas caught his breath, But I still tried.
"Leave me. The two of you get out just leave me here..." he begged,
Thomas didn't answer for a moment,
"No. I am not leaving you here..." I told him as I tried to carry him and drag him by myself, but I wasn't strong enough on my own. "No. I am. Not. Leaving. Without. you." I said as I tried and failed to drag him a long,
"Y/n." Thomas grabbed me by the shoulders, "... We drag him out and then what." He asked tears in his eyes, "We... we can't keep this up forever," He said but my eyes never left Newt's body as it gasped and cried, "Even if we do... how long will he last? how long would it give him? Where does it end Y/n?"
"Long enough." I snapped kneeling beside him and holding his hand so tightly,
"Please... please... just go, I want you to be safe Y/n..."
"I am not leaving you, not now. Not ever."
"Even if I'd kill you..."
"Even so." I nodded, "I love you too much to let you go,"
"I love you too..." he muttered,
"Alright. Come on Newt lets go." Thomas agreed trying to pick Newt up but the virus took hold once more and he screamed out forcing thomas to the floor,
"No! Take her. And go. Get her out of here Tommy."
"She's not leaving you and neither am I." he nodded, "I'm sorry Newt, but we have to get you out of here."
"Fine..." He screamed out as he grabbed the gun from Thomas' hip,
"No!" I screamed,
I jumped on his back and forced the gun out of his hand tossing it away so he couldn't get it,
He turned and screamed at me but it was so horrifically inhuman, no trace of his voice, only of a crank, his eyes black, and the dark bile dripping from his lips as he came at me trying to bite me, grab me, anything he could to hurt me, I had no choice but to fight him off until thomas forced him away from me, but that only made him attack thomas. I did what I could to separate them, Thomas and I doing our best to keep him off each other in the hope he would calm down and regain some humanity or at least it would give us long enough to get the serum.
But He had enough of us, he grabbed the knife from his ankle holster and went for his own neck but I grabbed his arm, screaming at him in the hope he might listen to us, but he came at me trying to attack me with the knife and he managed to cut the top of my arm, making me hit the floor and scream clutching my bleeding arm.
"Y/n!" Thomas yelled out to me,
"Na-Y/n..." Newt regained some of his mind, his eyes filled with tears as he saw what he had done to me, "no, no no no..." He cried dropping the knife to the pavement, "Y/n... I'm so sorry..."
"It's okay, it's okay." I tried to comfort him, "You didn't mean to,"
"Please Tommy... please," Newt begged, offering him the knife. "I can't hurt her again."
Thomas came and took the knife from him, "I'm not gonna do that Newt. Come on. It's not far from the Berg. You can make it and we can-"
"NO!" Newt screamed as the crank took hold once more, "I. Can't. I won't..." He battled with himself the crank wanting to scream, bite attack, and Newt begging to die before he could hurt me again, but thomas wouldn't do it, and Newt's willpower gave out.
Newt attacked him clawing and trying to bite him like a rabbit animal until ...
it was over.
Newt had run into him forced him to fight, and the blade found its way into Newt's heart.
His body dropped, and his blood flowed onto the cold pavement stone.
For a moment there was nothing but silence.
Until an uncontrollable scream came from my lips, tears flooding down my cheeks, my voice echoing through the city, it wasn't even words, just screams of utter agony.
"I- I didn't mean to... I -" Thomas tried to explain,
But I just moved as close as I could kneeling at the side of Newt's body, taking his hand in mine, watching the life leave his eyes, and in those last few moments he regained the last of himself, he stroked my cheek.
"Y/n... I... I love you,"
"I love you too... I've always loved you, from the moment we met in the maze I love you, never once have I ever stopped or even doubted it. And I swear I will love you for the rest of my life. And beyond if I can."
"Don't." He said, "Please... be happy without me,"
"I can't you know I can't, you know I never will be! not without you!"
"Then say you'll still smile for me sometimes... at least,"
"I promise," I cried,
"Y/n... Can I?" he begged,
"You know you don't have to ask," I whined,
With the last of his strength, he kissed me, our final kiss.
When we pulled away, thomas pulled me back.
"Take care of her tommy..." His last words. and he was gone.
I cried hysterically unable to even stand,
"Brenda..." Thomas gasped,
I looked up and saw her there, serum in hand. Gally and Minho are behind her. It would have only taken another two minutes...
I sat by the sand watching the waves kiss the beach, hugging my arms as I wore Newt's jacket around me.
"Hey Y/n..." Minho came and sat beside me,
"Hey," I wiped my tears,
"You okay?"
"Doing better... slowly," I answered rubbing my scar,
"I didn't mean your arm..."
"Much the same, things are slow."
"I can't imagine how this must be for you,"
"It hurts, but I suppose he's happy. Not trapped as a horrible crank."
"Yeah, he'd have hated it." he chuckled,
"He would," I nodded, "What did you just do?" I asked looking at the dust on his hands,
"Put Ben up on the rock."
I nodded but didn't speak,
"No one's put Newt on there yet." he said, "it should be you. Y/n. He'd have wanted it to be you."
"I know... Just hard to... have it be set in stone that he's gone..."
"Would you rather you forget?"
"No. never."
"Would you rather everyone here forget? Given everything he did for us. For them. None of this would be here without him."
"You're right," I nodded,
"Come on girly, the sunset is beautiful tonight."
I slowly got to my feet, and walked with Minho back into camp, almost like everyone knew what I was doing and where I was going, those who knew Newt followed, thomas, fry, gally, Brenda, and even those from group B and right arms camp who had met him.
When we reached the stone it felt so... large and endless. All the names are written on it.
I took the knife and stepped up on my own, I picked a spot a nice one, where everyone could see it, and letter by letter I carved his name. Each one took time and effort, and I went over each one a few times. To make it deep, and prominent, and to make sure my letters were straight.
When I was done I brushed off the dirt seeing his name in the stone felt so final, I ran my fingers across the letters and found that even his name had a view across the water like he could watch the waves with me forever. I brushed a few tears from my face and whispered that I loved him before I returned the blade and gave everyone a small smile likely the first since his death.
Everyone cheered and Thomas gave me a tight hug, which I returned, Minho and Fry joining in too.
And when I dried the last of my tears we headed to the bonfire to try and enjoy paradise.

Book recs!! ✨
Hi! So a bit ago, I met a lovely amazing anon on ao3 (who is a BLESSING compared to the other mean anons commenting out there, thanks Kat, you make mine and im pretty sure other author's days too). So we got into talking about books and I offered to make a list for her and post it on tumblr so other people too can scrounge through so here we are lmao.
I gathered this list from the personal notes I had made to myself to add these books to my bookshelf when i move out and also from another list i made for my little siblings because no way are they gonna not read the good stuff I found. It's like a rite of passage now.
Just a note: I don't read romance. But since books don't have the very convenient tags we get on ao3, I end up getting to romance-y parts. The only romance books I have read are middle school level romance lmao XD Nothing except kisses and stuff lol.
Let's go!
The Maze Runner series
Maze Runner
I love this book. This series. Ngl, one of the first books where I felt that heart-clenching feeling of hurt. Love the characters, the world-building was in the fandom for a brief while and I love the plot too. Better than the movie plot anyway XD
Mare Runner: Scorch Trials
Second book in the series, also very good. Literally an adventure. So many twists and turns. Once more, the characterization is also amazing!
Maze Runner: Death Cure
Third and last book in the series as a main. Heartbreaking. Did shed tears. Page 250 still kills me. O u ch.
The Fever Code
Also in the same series and OUCH. It's the characters before the whole drama happened and they're kids and higehrfwb 😭 No kidding I was squealing and nearly threw the book multiple times out of excitement. It solved a couple plotlines too. I adored it. Plus, it gave me some closure from the many many (inevitable) deaths.
Crank Palace
It's a novella, but clears the mysterious gap that was in the third book. Plus, it gives much much more closure but I'm still crying so do what you will with that information. I love the new "OC"s here too.
Trials of Apollo
The Hidden Oracle The Dark Prophecy The Burning Maze The Tyrant's Tomb The Tower of Nero
Listen- listen- I know this is kinda obvious and you might be asking "where's the rest of the pjo series?" but that's a given. My personal favorites are the pjo, hoo and toa series, but toa somehow spoke to me more because the main relationship wasn't a romantic one like all the other teen books I read. I also adore Apollo/Lester's character development? Like, at first he was this carefree god, then at the end of the series, he transformed into a person who cared so much and so deeply and was willing to die for others. That is peak character development and if I hadn't read toa, I would still be blundering around and confused with my multi-chap fics as to how characters actually develop. Because you can see that journey so clearly in toa.
Jinx series
Jinx: The Wizard's Apprentice Jinx's Magic Jinx's Fire
I love this series so much??? I am a sucker for fantasy novels and this was so so good. I love the storyline and-
AND I ESPECIALLY LOVE THE FOUND FAMILY ASPECT HERE. THIS. IS LITERALLY RELUCTANT MENTOR-FATHER AND HYPER AND KEEN MENTEE-SON. AHHH.
Anyway, this was my first found family novel. I loved the whole storyline too, this was also the series where I was first introduced to the concept of whump (without knowing what whump actually was).
The Mapmaker Chronicles
Race To The End Of The World Prisoner Of The Black Hawk Breath Of The Dragon
These were also some of the first whump books I read. And I especially loved this because the plot was it. A smartass scrawny boy who accidentally turned into a hero? Hmmm, I wonder who that reminds me of. (Tim Drake. It reminds of Tim Drake)
But the characters are also special to my heart. There is minimal romance in here. Any romance is to move the plot forward.
Also a mentor-mentee relationship here. Not so much found family to the heart seeing as the main character already has family back home, but the whole crew definitely is a family of their own. I especially adore Ash! Ahhh! She's lovely and amazing. Oh and Zain- *sighs* he is the perfect mentor figure to scrawny li'l Quinn. And the hateable characters are so perfectly hateable!! The author truly is talented at stories.
Although the second book could do with more whump
Nevermoor series
Nevermoor
This book was described in the reviews as "Harry Potter meets Alice in Wonderland" and it stayed true to its description. It had beautiful and amazing characters, and an evil-mentor & reluctant hero-mentee relationship (though not at first) and I am a sucker for that. Also, I just love the character herself. Morrigan is a very good and fleshed out character and I will love her forever.
Wundersmith
We explore more of the evil-mentor & reluctant hero-mentee relationship. But Jupiter, Morrigan's actual caretaker, is the PERFECT uncle/caretaker for her and he's so protective of her and i just-
*sobs* I stan.
Hollowpox
Here we discover some of that delicious power upgrades. I also love all the friends! HAWTHORNE IS MY FAVORITE AND WILL ALWAYS BE I LOVE HIM. Stunning characters here 💫 Also some wise comparison of the different isms and phobias (as in homophobia, racism etc.) here in terms of fantasy.
The Mysterious Benedict Society series
The Mysterious Benedict Society The Mysterious Benedict Society and The Perilous Journey The Mysterious Benedict Society and The Prisoner's Dilemma The Mysterious Benedict Society and The Riddle of Ages
This... was one of the first mystery books I had ever read (my actual first was Sherlock Holmes cuz I found it on my grandparents' bookshelf and read it cuz I had read every other book they owned which wasn't a lot). I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. It was calm and just- a bunch of kids going on a perilous journey to solve a mystery to save the city. Those kind of vibes. But the vibes were so good. So enjoyable. Every time I hear about this series, I just sigh in contempt.
There are very, very interesting characters here too. The characters are what made the story so good. All of them have unique quirks which they use to crack clues and form conclusions and dive into actions. Such good characters. 10/10, honestly.
The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict
This is part of the Benedict society universe, but it takes place years before the main events. It has adventures of the leader of the group in the main series as a kid. This book has a special mention because the storyline was different to the style of the main series and it had tropes. Just- the friend and the character itself and- dnfhbevbiluw
Okay, I admit, Benedict here does remind me of Tim (my fav character in DC). Like y'know smol Tim with the camera? Those kind of vibes. Very strong vibes. I read this way before I discovered Tim even existed so maybe this book plays a part in my favorites?
Jessica Brody books
The fact that I put the actual author's name here should tell you something.
Addie Bell's Shortcut To Growing Up
This book... brought me to tears. This was the second book that prompted salt water to slip out of my tear ducts. It was a strange feeling. Cuz I was not used to crying for books and movies and shows.
The plot just hit hard. A 12-year-old Addie magically time-travels to when she's 16 and experiences life as a teenager. The plot gives more than you expect. There are boys, yes, but that is a side plot, not a main plot. Which is why I love the book so much. Addie wants to be one of the "girly" girls who talks about boys and stuff and goes to parties like her older sister, but then as she lives the life of a teenager more and more, she realizes just how much she lost. Friendships, family, her personality, her interests, herself.
The part that made me cry was her missing her sister. Cuz, well, I'm an older sister. And my sister who is the oldest after me has the same age difference as Addie and her older sister. It wasn't just her missing her sister in that scene, it was everything crashing down on her that moved me to tears. Amazing book. If anything, I recommend you either read this or 'Better You Than Me' if nothing in this list goes towards your liking.
Better You Than Me
This was the first book that made me cry. It has two characters, one in middle school, the other who is an actress, swap bodies. So the typical middle school kid gets to live as a famous actress, and the famous actress gets to live as a typical middle school kid. Of course, neither of them end up liking their new life very much, but that only teaches them two important messages: appreciation and communication. God, I learnt so much from this book. I was like 13 or something when I read it and it resonated within me enough to make me cry. I adore this. SO much.
I Speak Boy
I actually have a library-borrowed copy with me right now XD It's about a middle school girl, Emmy, being very confused with the opposite gender. (Very much hetero, no homo despite it being published in 2021). But, once again, the reason I love this book isn't cuz of the romance (though it is kinda satisfactory but also a bit cliché). It's how the main character realizes that boys aren't everything. Just like in 'Addie Bell's Shortcut To Growing Up'. It's a lot about friendship.
The reason why I like these books by Jessica Brody (I haven't read the others yet) is because of the Bechdel Test factor in it.
S. K. Ali books
Again you have another author's name. This time, it's Muslim fiction!
Love From A To Z
The first Muslim fiction book I've ever read. And yes, it is a romance book. But it does not have any touchy-touchy stuff (except in the Epilogue and a couple dream scenes, very vague though and only kissing). As in, the main characters follow mainstream Sunni procedures and do not touch each other as they're not married. Which just leaves room for a ton of emotional romance.
I adore this simply because I'm a Muslim Hijabi myself and I am very much biased.
It deals with so many aspects of romance though, like personality first, lust last, and whether they are the right fit or not and whether they actually like each other or the idea of each other and how families play into this and online hate and emotion control and of course, the marvels and oddities of life. It is packed with so much. And when I finished the book, I had a good long cry. This is the first book that made me cry the longest. Because- because I was starved for representation! And this book did it so well! I just- love this so much.
The author has published a sequel, Love from Mecca to Medina, I have yet to read it because I'm waiting for it to be in a library. I prefer physical copy books.
Once Upon An Eid
Okay, this is very Muslim-based, but if you treat it like Muslim Christmas, everything becomes clear XD Also, Ali wrote only one story here. This book is actually a collection of stories by different Muslim authors. And each story is so special. Many people don't really know how Muslims celebrate Eid or why it's so special (besides spiritual reasons) and what it looks like. This paints an accurate picture. And it contains most, if not all, types of Muslims celebrating Eid. Sunni, Shia, refugee, African, American, revert/convert, South Asian etc. So really diverse.
Saints and Misfits Misfit In Love
Very much love-centred, but also has very vague mentions of sexual assault/rape/non-con. Yes, in a Muslim community. It exists. A lot actually. But it's hidden and hushed down. Disgustingly.
But the first book addresses it and how a Muslim girl battles it. She's in love with a white boy, yes, but she doesn't give in to her white boy desires. Neither does she fall to a non-white boy, at least not fully.
Which is why I recommend that if you're reading the first book, you definitely, definitely read the second one along with it. Because I felt even though the ending of the first book was satisfactory, it wasn't satisfactory to me. But the second book was! Because at the end of the second book, Janna (the main character), comes to the conclusion that boys aren't everything. And even though there is a very perfect boy that fancies her and she fancies him too, she takes a breath and says that she isn't too focused on that. And I adore that. But she only comes to that conclusion after falling in love with many, many, many boys. I did get a bit uncomfy cuz romance just in general makes me uncomfy, its a personal thing, but I kept reading it cuz... Muslim fiction! Anyway, good book series. But I like Love From A To Z better.
Now, those are... a lot of books. And a lot of me talking. And there are still so many more. So I'm just gonna go through some quick filtering and put the titles and authors of the other books here in dot points.
London Eye Mystery by Siobhan Dowd (my first novel, Kat knows about this lol)
Skyfire series by Michael Adams
NERDS series by Michael Buckley (it's an acronym that stands for National Espionage, Rescue, and Defense Society. It's weird but I laughed a lot so)
Murder Most Unladylike series by Robin Stevens
Mallory Towers series by Enid Blyton
Naughtiest Girl In The School series by Enid Blyton
Scarlet and Ivy series by Sophie Cleverly (fuck- I forgot to add this to the main list, but this book is hella hella good and I recommend it very much)
Bounce by Megan Shull (life lessons in here)
Sick Bay by Nova Weetman
The Adventurer's Guild series by Zack Loran Clark and Nick Eliopulos
Luck Uglies series by Paul Durham ("DADDY ISSUES!" screams Quo. "I love this book because I have daddy issues among other issues and that is all.")
Time Hunters by Chris Blake (it is very much a children's book, not even middle school, but I read it because it has an intriguing storyline and interesting historical facts that had me raising my hand in every history lesson)
There are no classic books here because that will need its own separate post.
And that's it! Thank you very much!

I don’t like BookTok :)
I know the is isn’t the “hottest take” but I just don’t like it for a lot of reasons, one big one is that it spreads the idea of “you can’t read that book”.
Growing up, I always lived by the idea that you should read what you enjoy/makes you happy. Reading in general does wonders for the brain and creativity. This is coming from not only an avid reader, but someone whose mom was a reading teacher, albeit for elementary school. The growth of all of the students was amazing and they weren’t English speakers at all. She had students who could fluently speak it/read it to kids who knew nothing. I grew up in a VERY diverse town in the Midwest. Like white people were the MINORITY. So that also meant we had a lot of different cultures and different books/entertainment that was specific to that culture.
Anyway back to books lol.
The biggest critique I have with BookTok is that if there’s a book or series you like, someone is bound to nitpick it for some reason. I love criticism of a book, I think it’s great and being able to point out flaws leads to deep discussion. But a lot of the time, people like these books simply because THEY LIKE IT. You don’t have to like it, but they like it. Main examples are books by Colleen Hoover (I have my gripes with her, I can’t stand her books), but the people who read her books enjoy them so I’m not going to harass or bully them for something they enjoy. SJ Mass is another author who gets a lot of flame, again for reasonable reasons, but even I have enjoyed her books.
I really got into YA fantasy like early high school and late middle school. One of the first series I read was the Throne of Glass series which I picked up since my mom had the first book. I actually really enjoyed it and I was in like 7th grade at the time so some of the simplicity and common tropes were well worth it for me. But as I got older and tried to re-read the series, I couldn’t. I fell in love with the side characters more than the main ones. (Dorian was my number one boy and he still is. I was so excited whenever he appeared. Still my fav character.) I didn’t care for Aelin, Rowan, or some others simply because I just didn’t really care for them. They’re fine, just not my favs and I know some people love them which is valid.
I couldn’t even finish ACOTAR. I got halfway through and DNF’d it. I don’t care for first person point of view in general and I didn’t like her characters or the plot. Roman e was never my thing—I love it as a side plot but if the entire book is about romance I find it boring. I barely made it through The Selection.
Before fantasy YA, I was big into dystopian. THG was my first real YA book and I loved it, with the Maze Runner after it. It’s my favorite YA fictional series to this day even though it has its flaws. The move from dystopian to fantasy was very much in a certain span of my life and now I see it being so popular in media which is great. Except for the people who don’t know how to respect OPINIONS. Not only that, but gatekeeping makes me mad.
All through my life I liked reading classics, classics of every region. My mom always had classic books lying around so I would pick them up and the ones from the different ethnic groups and cultures were always at the public library for me to read. That’s how I got books like
Crime and Punishment- Russian Literature
No Longer Human- Japanese Literature
The Iliad- Greek Literature
Dracula-Irish Literature
Journey to The West-Chinese Literature
The Idiot- Japanese Literature
Don Quixote-Spanish Literature
And so many others at an early age. Some of them are well known and some aren’t—which is normal. But when some people who read classics look down on others or say “you can’t read that because you’re doing it to be quirky”, it bothers me. I always wanted to talk to others about these books and damn it I was STRUGGLING to find people to talk to about The Great Gatsby who actually liked it in seventh grade. This is PROMINENT in the BSD fandom since the characters are named after famous classical authors and some people are stuck up, not wanting these books to be read.
It never made sense to me. Maybe I’m the stupid one.
Overall, there are very few people on BookTok who I enjoy watching or listening to. Each series has its highlights and its flaws, like humans do, so just let people enjoy a book damnit. And if people want to vent or explain why they DONT like a book let them damnit.
Anyway what’s a book that scarred you for like???? I read Where The Red Feen Grows at like 10 years old and am still traumatized by it. :D
