A lot of people are upset or disappointed that modern science in astronomy is not so advanced yet to do all the cool hypothetical sci-fi stuff that we want to do—(intergalactic space travel, for instance, is a big kicker.)
So many people are so upset about this—the fact that we, as a species, inherently yearn to explore the vastness of space, but can’t because of , well—reality. And I understand that. But what really upsets me is that, This in turn, detaches people from Astronomy. Makes them think it’s boring-that there’s no POINT in doing all of this for space because it doesn’t directly seem to benefit us. And although I have many qualms about that statement, that isn’t the reason why I’m typing all of this out.
Listen— humanity is at that part of discovery and learning and innovation that what we can accomplish is—in my opinion, in its own right better in some ways— than what is the preconceived notions of what “advanced” humankind is supposed to look like.
Sure, we can’t fly a rocket to the Andromeda Galaxy, or terraform mars and live there, but you know what we can do?
Look at universes, other worlds, from long before the word “human” even MEANT something. See the distant past as if it was right in front of us. Send rovers and satellites and flybys to planets to send us data so we can do research on what COULD be there. Anyone can research about the universe if they so wished to, and all this information is available to anyone that chooses to accept it. …and, It always has been. Humanity has always looked at the stars for answers, whether that be scientific, religious, or spiritual—and I think that’s beautiful in its own right.
You will always have the choice to enjoy Astronomy— it’ll be there anyways, forever. You don’t need to be there-there to love it, because you’re right where you need to be. you just need to look up.
#astronomy#science fiction#rambles#I think Astronomy sometimes scares people off too- because they think you need to be some expert engineer or physicist.#no! NO!! that’s not true at all!!#please don’t be scared of something that’s just. so. ..human#my love for space definitely comes from a scientific standpoint. I love knowing how the world works and the universe around it BUT-#there is an emotional side to it. a vulnerable side.#one of my biggest childhood memories is sitting out on my balcony at night and just looking at the stars#and I also had those glow in the dark star stickers in my room#but I was forced to take them down because they were childish. :(#a part of me sees space as a way to heal my inner child too#I find myself and my brain wandering off sometimes- because late at night#I sometimes forget I’m supposed to sleep#and I just… look out my window.#sure we can attribute that to boredom and insomnia but. c’mon.#I really doubt that it’s JUST that. the whole reason I wrote this is because I got emotional over light pollution since I can’t see the -#-the stars as clearly as I used to see them#another personal note: as a kid I was…very obviously autistic. Some may dismiss this exchange as a flash in the pan. To others it will reflect a phoney war evident across Western culture and beyond. The frustration felt by this second group is well founded. Popular contemporary attitudes towards religion include condescending dismissal. The same applies to large sections of the media, universities and the arts establishment. Faith groups must bear their share of the blame for this. But so must the strident atheists who reject what they have never taken the trouble to investigate beyond a superficial level – especially those who write bestsellers ridiculing belief systems they know so little about.
How might scientifically informed religious believers defend the coherence of their world view? If they are Christians, say, part of their answer might run like this. The aim of God’s creation is that the world should help make itself, and the Scriptures are humanly written and developed history riddled with ambiguities and dead-ends and fresh starts. Nevertheless, they are powerfully challenging calls to humanity to grow and reform and criticise itself. This sort of judgement could be voiced in allied ways across the spiritual spectrum. ‘We have a deep respect for science,’ people of various stripes often add. ‘We just don’t think that this way of investigating the world exhausts all reality.’
In particular, there is no contradiction between accepting Darwin’s theories and belief in God. Young-earth creationists and advocates of intelligent design are therefore mistaken. So, too, are those who assume an unbridgeable divide between science and religion.
Four reasons especially might be cited in favour of such a model. The first is intellectual. Honest enquirers should follow the evidence where it leads, whether or not they practise a faith. There is nothing pious or wishful about this: a pillar of Christian orthodoxy such as St Thomas Aquinas would have insisted on the ‘unitary’ character of truth. If science establishes that water boils at 100 degrees Celsius or that the world is 13.7 billion years old, then these and other discoveries cannot be credibly challenged from any pulpit.
The second is theological. Classical teaching in various traditions, Eastern as well as Western, represents God not as a big thing competing for space with lesser things, but as the ground of existence.
One useful analogy is that of the author in relation to his or her characters. While not himself a cast member of War and Peace, Tolstoy nevertheless inhabits every line of the narrative. Another analogy is supplied by light. The light in which we see is not one of the objects seen, because we see light only inasmuch as it is reflected off opaque objects. Nature has its own integrity according to laws and patterns established by science. To repeat: God is not a micro-manager intervening here and there. Nor is the relationship between God and the world like that of a builder to a house. Things are both subtler and more intimate from a monotheistic standpoint. As a canvas supports a painting or a singer holds a song, God sustains everything in being moment by moment. We are talking about a deeper level of causation. So when someone turns on the gas to heat up a pan of water, for example, chemistry can give a full account in its own terms of the process involved. But a Hindu or Muslim or Jew or Christian can still maintain that God makes the whole situation exist: the gas, its power and its action on the water. God and the gas work at different levels, not in competition.
Divine being is also seen as unfathomable in the major faiths. ‘God may be loved, but not thought,’ as a classic such as The Cloud of Unknowing puts it. ‘By love may he be gotten and holden; but by thought never.’
Believers can nonetheless combine humility in the face of a profound mystery with a calm certainty about what God is not. In the case of a figure like Richard Dawkins, by contrast, things are turned upside down. Starting with an utterly inadequate definition of God as an angry tyrant in the sky, he then informs us that this monster doesn’t exist. It’s a true belief widely shared by people on either side of the religious divide. But why should it necessarily be an argument for atheism rather than a spur to resist idolatry?
Initial mistakes breed larger ones when unchecked. If I say that my favourite drink is beer and you reply that yours is wine, we are at least agreed on what it is we disagree about. But since the deity in whom Dawkins disbelieves is a blown-up creature, he has even gone on to make the surreal claim that our supposed creator would need to have evolved through natural selection, and there is no available evidence of any life form more sophisticated than humankind. In other words, ‘God’ is being pictured as both the cause of the universe and a product of it. Fallacies rarely come larger.
What is implied by all this? Among much else that so-called New Atheism is old hat. Call out superstition by all means. But don’t display culpable ignorance by likening all manifestations of faith across the world to belief in the tooth fairy. Dawkins’s new book Outgrowing God is no less crude than his earlier diatribe The God Delusion. Once more, he’s lobbed a stone in a vain bid to hit the clouds.
Rupert Shortt’s book Outgrowing Dawkins: God for Grown-Ups is published by SPCK (£9.99)

I went through the shitty introvert tag recently and now have some questions: 1) a lot of them are self proclaimed HSPs which confuses me. Is there scientific backing for HSP and why would sensory and emotional sensitivity be linked? Is the term ever applied to extroverts and if not, why? 2) why are so many of them feelers? like there're annoying IxTxs but they seem just more misanthropic/edgy and less whiny/convinced that they're unique. why are they all N types? why're the S types more chill?
1. HSP is a fuzzy concept at best; the psychologist who coined the term doesn’t believe it’s a disorder and believes it affects 20% or so of the population - significant enough to just be a thing true of a lot of people. As she defined it it does include both emotional and sensory stimuli. My personal take is that of the people who identify as such, some are actually people with real medical processing/sensory disorders who have gone undiagnosed and a lot of these disorders are comorbid with conditions that also carry emotional sensitivity (autism being just one example). The rest are just, yeah, people who are more sensitive to stimuli of various sorts than average. Basically all of human experience is a spectrum - I mentioned this recently when it comes to reading vibes. Like, I have friends who can fall asleep on a couch in the middle of a party; I have to put my phone on silent when I sleep because if I’m not in a pretty deep sleep I’ve been known to be woken up by a single text message vibration. All humans experience stimuli differently, both from a physiological standpoint (younger people can hear higher-pitched sounds) and a psychological. It’s also adaptive/learned; people who grew up in louder environments often can tune out sounds better, for instance. So HSP really just means “of the human spectrum of sensitivity to stimuli you are in the top fifth of sensitivity”; it doesn’t make you any more special than people in the bottom fifth and both those groups have benefits. Like, there’s value in being a coffee snob with a great palate but there’s also value in being able to drink Folgers crystals without gagging when you’re at your parents’ house, you know?
Extroverts can be HSPs and iirc the book Quiet by Susan Cain (which is an interesting book but also jumpstarted a lot of Introvert Superiority Culture) talked about HSPs. It’s considered more of an introvert thing because introverts in general are less good at handling the outside world, but it’s not unheard of for extroverts.
2. I’m going to split this into valid reasons why HSPs might more likely be I, N, and F, and reasons to be suspicious.
Valid: I already mentioned, but extroverts by non-MBTI definition are energized by being around people and by MBTI definition favor a function that involves direct involvement with the outside world; as such there’s an inherent conflict between being super sensitive to the outside world and needing it to be energized. Extroverts tend to be good with the outside world and HSPs struggle with it.
This is also why it fits better with intuition; sensors enjoy sensory data. We still can be sensitive to it but this is our preferred method of understanding and processing the world. HSPs are not good at processing sensory data in the same way.
Finally, feelers: the emotional part of HSP is the part I’m most skeptical about, and I also suspect thinkers in general are going to be more skeptical of HSP as a concept due to the lack of hard science thereof, but when it comes to emotional sensitivity, while thinkers can be emotionally sensitive, they’re less likely to admit it.
Now, the less valid reasons. I’ve alluded to this a lot lately but MBTI and personality theory can be awesome tools. However, they are just tools and can be used in ways both good or bad. There is a small but vocal subset of people who see personality theory as justification that they are Special and Different and more worryingly, somehow more deserving of respect and humanity and accommodation than others. The pattern of these people is generally quite predictable: look at whatever type is getting the most praise in that space and they will say they are that type. And so: introversion, intuition, and feeling - more often Fe, as it is stereotyped as benevolent more frequently than Fi, though Fi gets more of a free-spirit reputation. HSP is another ribbon to pin on their imaginary trophy wall, where they are hailed and loved for a bunch of labels since lord knows it’s nigh impossible to love these people for the selfish narcissists they actually are.
(my guess for why INTPs and INTJs, which are types picked by I am More Human than You types at times, are not as likely to identify as HSPs, is similar to yours. The the people who pick those tend to favor a “I have no emotions/it’s just logical that I am better than you” persona and therefore eschew labels like “sensitive.” The INFx I am More Human than You persona is less blatant and leans more on “no one understands my specialness and how deeply I feel everything and that’s why I’m cruel and manipulative.”)
(as always: there are plenty of people who are actually INxxs who are lovely, and still more people who are not INxxs but mistyped due to biased information/barnum effect reasons and not out of the senses of superiority and they are also lovely; and also some are teens going through an edgy phase who will deeply regret everything they are currently putting on the internet and will grow into perfectly lovely adults, hence the statement “small but vocal subset”.)

Meet More Humans Behind the Robots
There are many paths to a career at NASA. Here are 10 amazing people on the frontlines of deep space exploration.
1—The Pub Master

“I was running a pub in the North of England after dropping out of college, and as fate would have it, I met a lovely American physics lecturer Dr. Jim Gotaas,” said Abi Rymer (shown above in the bottom right of the group photo). Abi works on the Europa Clipper mission.
“I was sold on a course he ran on Observational Astronomy and Instrumentation at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston, Lancashire and I went from there to join the second year of the Physics and Astronomy at Royal Holloway, part of London University. I loved theoretical physics but never imagined I was talented enough to do a PhD. When I graduated, I was shocked to be top of the year.”
2—The Orbit Artist

“Within seven months of being at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory,” says Brent Buffington, a mission design manager, “I figured out we could modify the Cassini Prime Mission trajectory to fly very close to the moon Tethys—a moon that didn’t have any close flybys in the original Prime Mission—and simultaneously lower a planned 621-mile (1,000-kilometer) targeted flyby of Hyperion down to 311 miles (500 kilometers). To be this young buck fresh out of grad school standing in front of a room full of seasoned engineers and scientists, trying to convince them that this was the right thing to do with a multi-billion dollar asset, and ultimately getting the trajectory modification approved was extremely rewarding.”
3—The Searcher

“Geochemical evidence suggests that between 4 and 2.5 billion years ago, there may have been an intermittent haze in the atmosphere of Earth similar to the haze in the atmosphere of Saturn’s moon Titan,” says astrobiologist Giada Arney. “It's a really alien phase of Earth's history —our planet wouldn't have been a pale blue dot, it would have been a pale orange dot. We thought about questions like: What would our planet look like if you were looking at it as an exoplanet? How you might infer biosignatures—the signs of life—from looking at such an alien planet?”
4—The Volcanologist

“I spent the summer after graduating from studying Mars' remnant magnetic field in the Planetary Magnetospheres Lab at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center,” says planetary geophysicist Lynnae Quick. “My advisor, Mario Acuña, showed me how to bring up Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) images of the Martian surface on my computer. This was the first time I'd ever laid eyes, firsthand, on images of another planet's surface returned from a spacecraft. I remember just being in awe.
“My second favorite moment has to be pouring over mosaics of Europa and learning to identify and map chaos regions, impact craters and other surface units during my first summer at APL. Once again, I felt that there was a whole other alien world at my fingertips.”
5—The Pioneer

“A few months after NASA was formed I was asked if I knew anyone who would like to set up a program in space astronomy,” says Nancy Roman, a retired NASA astronomer. “I knew that taking on this responsibility would mean that I could no longer do research, but the challenge of formulating a program from scratch that I believed would influence astronomy for decades to come was too great to resist.”
6—The Modeler
“I took Planetary Surfaces with Bruce Murray (whom I later found out had been JPL’s fifth director) and did a presentation on Europa's chaos terrains,” say Serina Diniega, an investigation scientist on the Europa Clipper mission. “I was fascinated to learn about the different models proposed for the formation of these enigmatic features and the way in which scientists tried to discriminate between the models while having very limited observational data. In this, I realized I’d found my application: modeling the evolution of planetary landforms."
7—The Bassist

“I admire people who dedicate themselves 110 percent to what they do,” says Warren Kaye, a software engineer. “People like the recently deceased Stephen Hawking, who rose above his own physical limitations to develop new scientific theories, or Frank Zappa, who was able to produce something like 50 albums worth of music over a 20-year span.”
8—The (Space) Photographer

“I got to pick what the camera took pictures of in a given week, and then analyze those pictures from the standpoint of a geologist,” says Tanya Harrison, a planetary scientist. “There aren't many people in the world who get paid to take pictures of Mars every day! Seeing the first images...It was almost surreal -- not only are you picking what to take pictures of on Mars, you're also typically the first person on Earth to see those pictures when they come back from Mars.”
9—The Scientist

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
“A scientist,” says Casey Lisse, a scientist on our New Horizons mission to Pluto and the Kuiper Belt.
At what point did you determine that you would become a scientist?
“Age 5.”
10 —The Extrovert

“Throughout my life, I’ve gone from being an extremely shy introvert to more of an outgoing extrovert,” says science writer Elizabeth Landau. “It’s been a gradual uphill climb. I used to be super shy. When I was really young, I felt like I didn't know how to talk to other kids. I was amazed by how people fluidly spoke to each other without thinking too hard about it, without appearing to have any kind of embarrassment or reservation about what they were saying. I've definitely developed confidence over time—now I can very quickly and comfortably switch from talking about something like physics to personal matters, and be totally open to listening to others as well.”

Menswear Pro Sid Mashburn On The 6 Products Every Individual Should Have.
If you're looking for means in order to get back in shape (or receive fit, time frame), you are actually not alone. You could even freeze this in an ice tray and then include all of them to warm water or your nuts dairy - incredibly beneficial! And also girls locate such self-confidence the absolute most appealing attribute in any kind of guy irrespective of nationality, ethnicity, face appearances as well as ... get this ... height. I have not thought about fasting peanuts, I consume bullet verification two times a time, and I consume cheese but not a lot of cheese. Even 95 years after women's suffrage became a national reality, women are actually still defending impartiality in a lot of social spaces-- featuring the office. I rely on what you discuss and will perform my ideal to obtain that all over to the a lot of females which are stuggling. This is far from a triumphant march to impartiality from Lilith to Angela Merkel, as well as I don't believe our company may blame it on ladies (though that is the typical path). Tony Blair remained in town for the Labour event seminar, but evidently he heard from the march, so, by time our team were actually walking past the structure he had actually vanished in a chopper. The alcoholic beverage is abundant in good micro-organisms, including around 47 other hairs, whereas yogurt which consists of merely 1 or 2. The four amounts included in The Dungeon were actually intended to be the sewage systems under The Metropolitan area. I merely love this. Only purchased Chia seeds, are going to create the Chia Fresca as my post-run beverage tomorrow. Only complete creating this wonderful dish ... today I am actually dealing with finishing my second alcoholic beverage therefore if you all will definitely pardon me. When cooking along with psyllium, you have to bear in mind to consume adequate water throughout the time to prevent bowel irregularity! I do not think any sort of women need to be actually drinking while pregnant, even if it is one beverage every day. And also regardless of being actually informed experts, they were actually currently 4 jobless occupation girls.
The UNESCO Bangkok file A Complex Formula: Girls as well as Women in Scientific research, Modern technology, Engineering and also Mathematics in Asia specified a few from the problems encountering girls in Asia. Move east to Matanzas, referred to as the 'Area of Bridges', thanks to the rivers running through that. The city was started in 1693 and was actually a growing social center in the course of the 19th century. Famous personalities will advise consuming some water-- they appear to all declare this's the secret responsible for their pliable, beautiful, constantly camera-ready skin layer. In an attempt to keep the final product as large as possible and also to maintain the components of the membrane separate, the water is frozen throughout this procedure. In the beginning, I still yearned for the Mt. Dew after the glass from water, yet within a handful of weeks, I started not needing to have" the pop after the water. According to Wikipedia, human research studies are underway as well as revealing guarantee, yet I wasn't able to dig up a lot beyond this tiny research Still, that is actually convincing, and I'll continue to consume broth irrespective. If you possess some of the shoes that I measured, I 'd be actually fascinated to view how your dimensions compare. When consuming BPC, some individuals consume less which leads to receiving much less micronutrients (BPC is actually pure excess fat) since they do not eat sufficient nutrient-dense foods (I possessed this problem). Baseding on a research study through ROC United, a worker center exemplifying restaurant laborers, females residing off suggestions in conditions that have $2.13 minimum hinted wages are two times as likely to experience sexual harassment on duty compared to girls in conditions with greater foundation wages. Freely inviting brexit as well as unionist supporters to vote tactically in the general political election, Ruth Davidson, the Scottish Tory leader, backed Robertson's standpoint by firmly insisting hers was the strongest event to take on the SNP". I simply used rolled cereals don't know if steel cut coincides, very same ratio as you, 1 cup cereals to 3 mugs water. like this is actually almost as bad as drinking soda, and certainly won't aid you on your purpose to keep fit. Research launched recently discovered 8 from 10 people aged 40 to 60 either examine too much, drink excessive or even carry out certainly not exercise sufficient. I have created lots of green beasts, I primarily make all of them pink or even violet haha so they are much easier to consume for me. Or even you can use the exact same quantity but lessen the water by ~ 1/2 mug (simply my hunch, wish it functions). There is an odds that the succeeding celebration may be excluded off government and also a union developed from the staying parties, as happened in 1971, 1977 and also 1882. Include some water and also one tea spoon of Xylitol for the sweet taste (and some benefits:--RRB-) until my container is actually total. At that point I strip them under operating water as well as the peels practically fall off intact! Hindu patriotism, as opposed to the ostensibly benevolent guidelines from the Our lawmakers gathering that has actually controlled India for a lot from the 70 years because independence, has increased in appeal since the very early 90s, finishing in Modi's political election as prime minister almost 3 years ago. A tartly flavoured cocktail similar to, and also with a congruity between, dairy and also yogurt. Our experts may have slowly come to terms with the idea of women having sex to the level they really want, yet sexual activity optimism possesses rarely been complied with by widespread conversations on the kind of sexual activity girls want and also need if you want to be actually fulfilled. One research published in the Diary of Female's Wellness in 2014 details that girls get to an ultimate amount of risk-free times precede earlier compared to guys given that they have a higher likelihood of radiation-induced cancers" like bronchi, thyroid, boob and also ovarian. I went, actually, to Iran just before Obama reached the bargain since I'm an Italian person so I could go to Iran without any issue. I have actually been off drug an although and it made me laugh my psychological wellness medical professional just says medications at all times, that is going to be actually a year prior to I can view a person which can assist me modify exactly how my thoughts functions. Apart from the treatment, the system is usually overwhelmed, leading lots of to feel homeless ladies are actually obtaining treatment of a lesser top quality. As our company age our metabolic rate slows down therefore females over FIFTY don't need to have more than 1500 fat a day diet.

Summary Review
IDEAS WORTH REMEMBERING
The treasure house is within you. Look within for the answer to your heart’s desire.
The great secret possessed by the great men of all ages was their ability to contact and release the powers of their subconscious mind. You can do the same.
Your subconscious has the answer to all problems. If you suggest to your subconscious prior to sleep, “I want to get up at 6 A.M.,” it will awaken you at that exact time.
Your subconscious mind is the builder of your body and can heal you. Lull yourself to sleep every night with the idea of perfect health, and your subconscious, being your faithful servant, will obey you.
Every thought is a cause, and every condition is an effect.
If you want to write a book, write a wonderful play, give a better talk to your audience, convey the idea lovingly and feelingly to your subconscious mind and it will respond accordingly.
You are like a captain navigating a ship. He or she must give the right orders, or the ship is wrecked. In the same way, you must give the right orders (thoughts and images) to your subconscious mind, which controls and governs all your experiences.
Never use such expressions as “I can’t afford it” or “I can’t do this.” Your subconscious mind takes you at your word. It sees to it that you do not have the money or the ability to do what you want to do. Affirm, “I can do all things through the power of my subconscious mind.”
The law of life is the law of belief. A belief is a thought in your mind. Do not believe in things that will harm or hurt you. Believe in the power of your subconscious to heal, inspire, strengthen, and prosper you. According to your belief is it done unto you.
Change your thoughts, and you change your destiny.
REVIEW OF HIGHLIGHTS
Think good, and good follows. Think evil, and evil follows. You are what you think all day long.
Your subconscious mind does not argue with you. It accepts what your conscious mind decrees. If you say, “I can’t afford it,” your subconscious works to make it true. Select a better thought. Decree, “I’ll buy it. I accept it in my mind.”
You have the power to choose. Choose health and happiness. You can choose to be friendly, or you can choose to be unfriendly. Choose to be cooperative, joyous, friendly, lovable, and the whole world will respond. This is the best way to develop a wonderful personality.
Your conscious mind is the “watchman at the gate.” Its chief function is to protect your subconscious mind from false impressions. Choose to believe that something good can happen and is happening now. Your greatest power is your capacity to choose. Choose happiness and abundance.
The suggestions and statements of others have no power to hurt you. The only power is the movement of your own thought. You can choose to reject the thoughts or statements of others and affirm the good. You have the power to choose how you will react.
Watch what you say. You have to account for every idle word. Never say, “I will fail; I will lose my job; I can’t pay the rent.” Your subconscious cannot take a joke. It brings all these things to pass.
Your mind is not evil. No force of nature is evil. It depends how you use the powers of nature. Use your mind to bless, heal, and inspire all people everywhere.
Never say, “I can’t.” Overcome that fear by substituting the following: “I can do all things through the power of my own subconscious mind.”
Begin to think from the standpoint of the eternal truths and principles of life and not from the standpoint of fear, ignorance, and superstition. Do not let others do your thinking for you. Choose your own thoughts and make your own decisions.
You are the captain of your soul (subconscious mind) and the master of your fate. Remember, you have the capacity to choose. Choose life! Choose love! Choose health! Choose happiness!
Whatever your conscious mind assumes and believes to be true, your subconscious mind will accept and bring to pass. Believe in good fortune, divine guidance, right action, and all the blessings of life.
IDEAS WORTH REMEMBERING
Your subconscious mind controls all the vital processes of your body and knows the answer to all problems.
Prior to sleep, turn over a specific request to your subconscious mind and prove its miracle working power to yourself.
Whatever you impress on your subconscious mind is I expressed on the screen of space as conditions, experiences, and events. Therefore, you should carefully watch all ideas and thoughts entertained in your conscious mind.
The law of action and reaction is universal. Your thought is action, and the reaction is the automatic response of your subconscious mind to your thought. Watch your thoughts!
All frustration is due to unfulfilled desires. If you dwell on obstacles, delays, and difficulties, your subconscious mind responds accordingly, and you are blocking your own good.
The Life Principle will flow through you rhythmically and harmoniously if you consciously affirm: “I believe that the subconscious power that gave me this desire is now fulfilling it through me.” This dissolves all conflicts.
You can interfere with the normal rhythm of your heart, lungs, and other organs by worry, anxiety, and fear. Feed your subconscious with thoughts of harmony, health, and peace, and all the functions of your body will become normal again.
Keep your conscious mind busy with the expectation of the best, and your subconscious will faithfully reproduce your habitual thinking.
Imagine the happy ending or solution to your problem, feel the thrill of accomplishment, and what you imagine and feel will be accepted by your subconscious mind, which will bring it to pass.
HEALING POINTS IN REVIEW
Remind yourself frequently that the healing power is in your subconscious mind.
Know that faith is like a seed planted in the ground; it grows after its kind. Plant the idea (seed) in your mind, water and fertilize it with expectancy, and it will become manifest.
The idea you have for a book, new invention, or play is real in your mind. This is why you can believe you have it now. Believe in the reality of your idea, plan, or invention, and as you do, it will become manifest.
In praying for another, know that your silent inner knowing of wholeness, beauty, and perfection can change the negative patterns of the other’s subconscious mind and bring about wonderful results.
The miraculous healings you hear about at various shrines are due to imagination and blind faith that act on the subconscious mind, releasing the healing power.
All disease originates in the mind. Nothing appears on the body unless there is a mental pattern corresponding to it.
The symptoms of almost any disease can be induced in you by hypnotic suggestion. This shows you the power of your thought.
There is only one process of healing and that is faith. There is only one healing power; namely, your subconscious mind.
Whether the object of your faith is real or false, you will get results. Your subconscious mind responds to the thought in your mind. Look upon faith as a thought in your mind, and that will suffice.
SUMMARY OF YOUR AIDS TO HEALTH
Find out what it is that heals you. Realize that correct directions given to your subconscious mind will heal your mind and body.
Develop a definite plan for turning over your requests or desires to your subconscious mind.
Imagine the end desired and feel its reality. Follow it through, and you will get definite results.
Decide what belief is. Know that belief is a thought in your mind and that what you think you create.
It is foolish to believe in sickness or in anything that will hurt or harm you. Believe in perfect health, prosperity, peace, wealth, and divine guidance.
Great and noble thoughts upon which you habitually dwell become great acts.
Apply the power of prayer therapy in your life. Choose a certain plan, idea, or mental picture. Unite mentally and emotionally with that idea. As you remain faithful to your mental attitude, your prayer will be answered.
Always remember, if you really want the power to heal, you can have it through faith, which means a knowledge of the working of your conscious and subconscious mind. Faith comes with understanding.
Blind faith means that a person may get results in healing without any scientific understanding of the powers and forces involved.
Learn to pray for your loved ones who may be ill. Quiet your mind. Your thoughts of health, vitality, and perfection operating through the one universal subjective mind will be felt and made manifest in the mind of your loved one.
SERVE YOURSELF WITH SCIENTIFIC TRUTH

POINTERS TO REVIEW
Your subconscious is the builder of your body and is on the job twenty-four hours a day. You interfere with its life-giving pattern by negative thinking.
Charge your subconscious with the task of evolving an answer to any problem, prior to sleep, and it will answer you.
Watch your thoughts. Every thought accepted as true is sent by your conscious cortex to your subconscious brain structures and is brought into your world as a reality.
Know that you can remake yourself by giving a new blueprint to your subconscious mind.
The tendency of your subconscious is always lifeward. Your job is with your conscious mind. Feed your subconscious mind with premises that are true. Your subconscious is always reproducing according to your habitual mental patterns.
You build a new body every eleven months. Change your body by changing your thoughts and keeping them changed.
It is normal to be healthy. It is abnormal to be ill. There is within the innate principle of harmony.
Thoughts of jealousy, fear, worry, and anxiety tear down and destroy your nerves and glands, bringing about mental and physical diseases of all kinds.
What you affirm consciously and feel as true will be made manifest in your mind, body, and affairs. Affirm the good and enter into the joy of living.
IDEAS WORTH RECALLING
Mental coercion or too much effort shows anxiety and fear that block your answer. Easy does it.
When your mind is relaxed and you accept an idea, your subconscious goes to work to execute the idea.
Think and plan independently of traditional methods. Know that there is always an answer and a solution to every problem.
Do not be overly concerned with the beating of your heart, with the breathing of your lungs, or the function of any organ of your body. Lean heavily upon your subconscious and proclaim frequently that Divine right action is taking place.
The feeling of health produces health, the feeling of wealth produces wealth. How do you feel?
Imagination is your most powerful faculty. Imagine what is lovely and of good report. You are what you imagine yourself to be.
You avoid conflict between your conscious and subconscious in the sleepy state. Imagine the fulfillment of your desire over and over again prior to sleep. Sleep in peace and wake in joy.
SERVE YOURSELF WITH THE POWERS OF YOUR MIND
Decide to be wealthy the easy way, with the infallible aid of your subconscious mind.
Trying to accumulate wealth by the sweat of your brow and hard labor is one way to become the richest man in the graveyard. You do not have to strive or slave hard.
Wealth is a subconscious conviction. Build into your mentality the idea of wealth.
The trouble with most people is that they have no invisible means of support.
Repeat the word “Wealth” to yourself slowly and quietly for about five minutes prior to sleep and your subconscious will bring wealth to pass in your experience.
The feeling of wealth produces wealth. Keep this in mind at all times.
Your conscious and subconscious mind must agree. Your subconscious accepts what you feel to be true. The dominant idea is always accepted by your subconscious mind. The dominant idea should be wealth, not poverty.
You can overcome any mental conflict regarding wealth by affirming frequently, “By day and by night I am being prospered in all of my interests.”
Increase your sales by repeating this statement over and over, “My sales are improving every day; I am advancing, progressing, and getting wealthier every day.”
Stop writing blank checks, such as, “There is not enough to go around” or “There is a shortage,” and so forth. Such statements magnify and multiply your loss.
Deposit thoughts of prosperity, wealth, and success in your subconscious mind and the latter will give you compound interest.
What you consciously affirm, you must not mentally deny a few moments later. This will neutralize the good you have affirmed.
Your true source of wealth consists of the ideas in your mind. You can have an idea worth millions of dollars. Your subconscious will give you the idea you seek.
Envy and jealousy are stumbling blocks to the flow of wealth. Rejoice in the prosperity of others.
The block to wealth is in your own mind. Destroy that block now by getting on good mental terms with everyone.
STEP UP THIS WAY TO RICHES
Be bold enough to claim that it is your right to be rich. Your deeper mind will honor your claim.
You don’t want just enough to go around. You want all the money you need to do all the things you want to do, when you want to do them. Get acquainted with the riches of your subconscious mind.
When money is circulating freely in your life, you are economically healthy. Look at money like the tide and you will always have plenty of it. The ebb and flow of the tide is constant. When the tide is out, you are absolutely sure that it will return.
Knowing the laws of your subconscious mind, you will always be supplied regardless of what form money takes.
One reason many people simply make ends meet and never have enough money is that they condemn money. What you condemn takes wings and flies away.
Do not make a god of money. It is only a symbol. Remember that the real riches are in your mind. You are here to lead a balanced life – this includes acquiring all the money you need.
Don’t make money your sole aim. Claim wealth, happiness, peace, true expression, and love, and personally radiate love and goodwill to all. Then your subconscious mind will give you compound interest in all these fields of expression.
There is no virtue in poverty. It is a disease of the mind. You should heal yourself of this mental conflict or malady at once.
You are not here to live in a hovel, to dress in rags, or to go hungry. You are here to lead the life more abundant.
Never use the term “filthy lucre” or say “I despise money.” You lose what you criticize. Money in itself is neither good nor bad, but thinking of it in either light makes it so.
Repeat frequently, “I like money. I use it wisely, constructively, and judiciously. I release it with joy, and it returns a thousand-fold.”
Money is not evil any more than copper, lead, tin, or iron that you may find in the ground are. All evil is due to ignorance and misuse of the mind’s powers.
To picture the end result in your mind causes your subconscious to respond and fulfill your mental picture.
Stop trying to get something for nothing. There is no such thing as a free lunch. You must give to receive. If you give mental attention to your goals, ideals, and enterprises, your deeper mind will back you up. The key to wealth is to apply the laws of the subconscious mind by impregnating it with the idea of wealth.
PROFITABLE POINTERS
Success means successful living. When you are peaceful, happy, joyous, and doing what you love to do, you are successful.
Find out what you love to do, then do it. If you don’t know your true expression, ask for guidance, and the lead will come.
Specialize in your particular field and try to know more about it than anyone else.
Those who are successful are not selfish. Their main desire in life is to serve humanity.
There is no true success without peace of mind.
A successful person possesses great psychological and spiritual understanding.
If you imagine an objective clearly, you will be provided with the necessities through the wonder-working power of your subconscious mind.
Your thought fused with feeling becomes a subjective belief, and according to your belief is it done unto you.
The power of sustained imagination draws forth the miracle-working powers of your subconscious mind.
If you are seeking promotion in your work, imagine your employer, supervisor, or loved one congratulating you on your promotion. Make the picture vivid and real. Hear the voice, see the gestures, and feel the reality of it all. Continue to do this frequently, and through frequent occupancy of your mind, you will experience the joy of the answered prayer.
Your subconscious mind is a storehouse of memory. For a perfect memory, affirm frequently: “The infinite intelligence of my subconscious mind reveals to me everything I need to know at all times, everywhere.“
If you wish to sell a home or property of any kind, affirm slowly, quietly, and feelingly as follows: “Infinite intelligence attracts to me the buyer for this house or property, who wants it, and who prospers in it.” Sustain this awareness, and the deeper currents of your subconscious mind will bring it to pass.
The idea of success contains all the elements of success. Repeat the word “success” to yourself frequently with faith and conviction and you will be under a subconscious compulsion to succeed.

History & Theory of Graphic Design

Biography & Analysis of April Greiman
When learning about any kind of art is it important to have a deep understanding of previous and contemporary artists and styles to have a good foundation. Especially in graphic design because of the very rapid growth and changes that it took over a short period of time. There are a lot of artists who influence many types of art being made today, including design. One of these artists is April Greiman, she had an interesting history as well as some great artwork that still speak volumes to this day.
April Greiman is a contemporary female artist; or so she describes herself- a trans-media artist, who was born in 1948. She grew up in New York being heavily influenced by postmodernism art styles, but after discovering graphic design during her undergrad she moved to Switzerland in 1970 and fell in love with New Wave. Grieman studied under some large influencers of design, including Armin Hoffman and Wolfgang Weingart. With all of her new found knowledge and potential to create, she moved back to America, to Los Angeles where she began to establish her name in the graphic design world.
The reason Greiman doesn’t refer to herself as a “graphic designer” is because she finds it to be too limiting. She was not always a graphic designer and she certainly did not only stick to design after she found it. She dabbles in all sorts of creative outlets and uses technology as an additional tool. She even went as far as to change the name of the department at the California Institute of the Arts, where she was employed, from Graphic Design to Visual Communications. Some critics did not like her use of the computer for design back in the 70s-80s because they believed it would ruin the International Typographic Style that was still promonet, showcasing the importance of cleanliness and legibility. While her peers were afraid of what the advancement of computers meant for them, she delved deeper into it exploited the technology for all it was worth. April embraced these changes of the Swiss style that brought a fresh take because of the use of the computer. She believed the “imperfections” were just a part of using such a tool and made artwork based on this idea. Eventually she even won the Grand Prize in the Mac World’s first Macintosh Masters of Art Competition.
The first piece I want to talk about is design 1 that shows an overall icon of a face with the use of typography throughout. Here we see a lot of layering and changes in opacity and transparency. Greiman has collaged multiple different images together to form one cohesive piece. I can see that she has started to take on the new wave style but hasn’t quite developed it further yet. Her text is still very standard and easy to read. Within the phrases the words are the same type, same letter spacing and same size, but the bold graphics and colors are what she is starting to play around with. Using the many different well known images in society of the beautifully done up eyes and bold lips, paired with the words “pressures of beauty” turns what used to be a human model into some kind of a robotic monster created by society. This was beautifully made and portrays a strong message of beauty standards from a feminist standpoint. She uses strong linear elements as well as color blocking to keep the viewers eyes active and moving along the whole piece.
Design 2 is a poster for the 1984 summer Olympics. I chose to talk about this piece because it is the bare bones of just design elements with no typography, I found it interesting to note that she made the decision not to include a lot of text because the image alone would get the message across loud and clear on its own. Without including the face of the figure, we know that it is not specific to one person or type of person, but just the action that we are showcasing. This active figure is running towards us front and center showing importance, strength, immediacy, power and rashness. All of these come from just one portion of a human body and all of them are what we get from Olympians. Having the blue square in the center helps with depth and makes the person’s leg look like it is actually stepping through a window towards us. The color of the background and the foreground where the foot is placed are all very pastel and soft while the center colors are very saturated show where the dominance and focal point is while still keeping the rest of the poster interesting and not just black and white versus color. I think this is a strong piece even though it does not showcase her talent in manipulating typography.
The third is a poster design from 1983, which when viewed with 3D glasses on, it pops out. Right off the bat I thought that was a super cool element that I have never seen before in design. I’ve only even seen 3D elements in film, but never from a poster, I think that shows how she took using the computer to a whole new level, especially during this time where it was never before seen. As for the design itself, this is where we started to see more of that traditional new wave coming through. The text of “ Your Turn My Turn” is no longer on a flat grid of 90 degree angles, but has been shifted on a diagonal. Also the first “Turn” is chopped off on the bottom by the dark color blocking which normally it could’ve been shifted down just a centimeter and this wouldn’t have occurred, but she chose to let the fields interact with each other. I also didn’t notice until after observing closer but she has smaller text within that dark value of the words “Your” and “My” flipped completely upside down, as if reflecting from the up facing text. I really enjoy how the planes interject and compliment each other while not feeling at all overcrowded or trying to overpower each other. She has just enough color and value changes for them to feel separate as well as working together which I believe to be one of her strongest elements she plays around with. It could very easily have been too overdone and looked like a total mess, but she keeps her mess controlled and fun to look at.
Another piece I wanted to talk about was design 4 which is a super electric, fun, crazy new wave poster design. Here there is a lot of visual stimulation with many bright colors, shapes, orientations, patterns, opacity, and values while still keeping a sense of symmetry and balance so that nothing over powers anything else. Just as I said before, I think Greiman has a strong eye for keeping her chaos under control, where the viewer still enjoys their time looking at the piece and discovering new elements the longer they observe it, while not feeling like they need to look away because it is too much. Having the center figure with a black bar over the eyes is a classic punk rock suggestion along with the edgy of the floating geometric shapes. She is also very successful when it comes to blending or fading one thing into another, they are very soft color gradients throughout the background as well as some of the other more frontal forms.
The last piece is design 5, which is another poster titled “ Does it Make Sense”, in 1986. It is an image of her own naked body stretched along the whole composition bedazzled with smaller images and icons of scientific images and photographs. Here she really explored her own identity through art by using different tools along with the showcasing of pixalization from the computer. I think this piece really challenged the modernists designers and screamed for attention. Again here she utilizes her forte in collegeing and juxtaposing images to interact together while feeling cohesive. Even though this one is black and white in comparison to her other popular works, it it just as powerful because of the changes in value and transparency.
I believe that April Greiman is a brilliant artist who has a lot to say about the design industry and should definitely be heard. She was one of the first to really embrace technology as a tool for artwork and let the advancements inspire her for decades. You can truly see her growth and continuous love for creating visually awe inspiring pieces of art in a plethora of medias.
