masterlist
You check your phone for at least the 80th time in the past ten minutes. You just cannot seem to focus on your assignment that’s due in the morning. Why you waited to do one of the biggest projects of the year in five hours is a mystery to you. Running your hands through your hair and taking a sip of the coffee that’s been your companion since 11:00 pm, you place your fingers on the keyboard with the intention of writing as much as you can in a span of five minutes. You have to work in little bursts, that’s the only way you’ll get the project done at this point.
You’re almost finished with another body paragraph when your phone begins ringing, disturbing the silence and causing you to jump in your place on the couch. Looking down, you see that it’s one of your closest friends.
“Hey, Seungcheol, what’s up? Why are you up at 3:00 am?”, you ask through the phone after swiping the green ‘answer’ button over on your screen.
“I’m working on this dumb project just like I’m guessing you are,” he retorts. It sounds like he’s laying upside down on his bed or something because his voice sounds a little distorted.
“Wow, I’m glad to know there’s another person who procrastinates just as badly as me,” you laugh out while scrolling through the 43 page document you have yet to complete.
You hear some shuffling on the other end of the phone, “Hey, would you want to maybe stay up together and finish these projects? Either you can come over to mine or I can come to yours?” he suggests.
For some reason you get butterflies in your stomach, anxiety slowly rising, “Oh! Yeah, sure, you can come over here if you want!”
“Sweet, I’ll be there in like 10 minutes! I’ll pick us up some coffees on the way, too,” he cheerily responds as you hear him loading things into his backpack and zipping it up.
“Sounds good! I take mine with-”
“Three creams and two sugars. Don’t worry, I remember,” Seungcheol says, you can basically hear the cheeky smile plastered on his face. “I’ll be there in a few!”
Once the call is hung up, you immediately spring up from your place on the couch and begin frantically cleaning your apartment. There are dishes in the sink that still need cleaned, papers and shoes strung everywhere. It’s not that you’re unclean, you just are way too busy to keep tidy every day. Maybe you also changed into an outfit better looking than the baggy sweatpants and tshirt you had on...not for Seungcheol of course. Just because you...felt like it.
As you were drying the final dish from your sink, there was a rap on the door. You quickly make your way over and look out the peephole to check that it’s who you are expecting. You notice that Seungcheol is wearing a red hoodie with his glasses on (which he rarely wears to class) and his hair is quite disheveled as well.
You try to subdue your smile and twist the lock, swinging the door open. “Hiii,” he says, outstretching his hand with a coffee cup in it, a big smile plastered on his face.
“You are literally a life saver,” you exasperatedly respond, grabbing the cup from his hand and welcoming him in. He makes his way over to the couch and set his bag down at the opposite end of you.
“How much do I owe you?” you ask, lifting up the coffee cup slightly as you join him.
“Oh, don’t worry about it. Your company is enough,” he casually says while pulling his laptop out of this bag. A blush creeps up on your face. It’s not that you like Seungcheol, but maybe you have a crush on him? Maybe? ...Probably.
At first, you two tried you very best to focus on the project. You discussed what each of your topics were and how you were approaching them. But somewhere along the lines you got to talking about your favorite tv shows & holidays and everything else went out the window.
It was now 5:00 am and you two had Christmas music on, playing at full volume in your kitchen while making cookies. Thankfully you happened to have all of the ingredients to make his favorite. Of course, you definitely should be working on your projects, but that’s just a grade. This is a memory you’ll keep forever.
You ended up with flour all over your face (courtesy of the hijinks of one mister Choi Seungcheol), so you smeared the melted chocolate in his hair. By the end of the little food fight, you both ended up within inches of each other, a giggling mess.
Looking up at him through your eyelashes coated in flour, your eyes flick down to his lips. The room grows noticeably quieter, the only noise heard is the fading jingle-jangle of a Christmas tune. Clearing your throat, you say, “We uh...we should probably get back to the projects…”
“Yeah, you’re probably right,” he responds, looking down at you fondly.
After getting cleaned up, you work on your projects in silence for about an hour, only speaking when asking each other questions about the project. At 6:30 am, Suengcheol’s phone starts ringing loudly, startling both of you which causes slap happy giggles to come from both of you as you make fun of the other’s shocked face.
“Must be my alarm for my eight a.m.” he says, while closing his laptop and packing his things up.
“You’re actually going to it?? After staying up all night? PLus with chocolate in your hair,” you tease him.
“That’s why I’m going back to take a shower and then power through this class,” he responds, slinging his bag over his shoulder.
Standing up, you walk him over to the door, “Thanks for the coffee…and company,” you smile while leaning against the doorframe, completely exhausted.
“Of course, anytime,” Seungcheol says. “Now please go get some sleep, I can tell you are so exhausted.”
You let out a breathy laugh and nod as he makes his way down the steps of your apartment, “See ya!” he calls out.
“Bye!” you chime as you close the door behind you. Pressing your back against it, you’ve decided: you definitely have more than just little crush on Seungcheol.
As you are wrapped in reliving your memories of the past hour, you are startled by another sharp knock at your door. Turning around to open it, you see Seungcheol.
“Hey, did you forget-” you begin.
“Could I kiss you?”, he asks, eyes wide, full of hope. All you can think to do is nod your head yes because you are too shocked to even think of words. Seungcheol quickly leans his head in and gives you a quick and soft peck on the lips. He pulls away, blush evident on his face as he stumbles his way back down the stairs.
“Okay, bye for real this time! And thanks for letting me kiss you, I hope to do it again sometime when I’m not rushed!” she shouts up the staircase.
“Me too,” you quietly say to yourself, waiting in excitement for the next time you see him.

Comfy
This is my first fanfic. I’m sorry if the writing is bad, I tried my hardest.
Peter Parker and reader
Warnings: fluffy fluff, like one swear word I think, my attempts at comedy
Word count: 4,465
You and Peter had just started dating so you were still very awkward around him. Every time he complimented you, you blushed hard. You still freaked out whenever he asked to come over or to hangout. You always had to make sure your room looked presentable, brushing your hair and teeth and even flossing. You couldn’t wait until more time went by and you were completely comfortable around him.
You had gotten a text from him about 10 minutes ago saying he was coming over so you immediately got to it. You picked up the dirty clothes from the floor and threw them into your closet. You hid your embarrassing stuffed animals, that you still needed to sleep with, under your bed and you quickly rushed to the bathroom to brush and floss your teeth and to put on some perfume that you knew he liked. Just as you were walking out of the bathroom you heard a knock on your bedroom door.
“Y/n. Can I come in?” You heard Peter ask, quickly checking yourself in the mirror one last time.
“Yeah.” You replied, kicking a stray sock under your bed. “Who let you in?” Both of your parents were away at a work event.
“Oh, your sister did.” He replied, looking down to his fidgeting hands. Peter was also a little uncomfortable around you, getting nervous here and there. Definitely not as much as you were but he was still new to the whole relationship thing. MJ was his first relationship and you were his second.
“So um… what do you want to do?” He asked, looking up at you. God, you loved when he did that. It made him look so innocent, almost puppy-like. Now that you thought about it, Peter Parker was basically a puppy. Something you protect at all costs and something that was so adorable you could melt.
“Do you want to watch a movie?” You asked, making your way onto your bed, grabbing your laptop from your nightstand. “We can watch Star Wars.” You said in a sing-song voice, knowing that would have him hooked. You saw his eyes light up and he started to come over.
“You know I can’t pass that up.” Peter sunk down into the mattress beside you, pulling the covers up over the both of you. You immediately felt very awkward. You and Peter usually watched movies on the couch or he would watch Star Wars on your bed while you did homework. You felt yourself get really hot and your face turn red.
“I’m gonna go make some popcorn.” You said suddenly, immediately getting up, not even waiting for an answer. Obviously Peter sensed that you were uncomfortable and debated whether to meet you in the kitchen or just to wait until you came back. He heard the microwave beep and the smell of popcorn that soon filled the house.
You started to look around for a bowl, finally finding one on the top shelf of your pantry. Of course you couldn’t reach it. Why do I have to be so short?
You really didn’t want to ask Peter for help but it was the only way so you did.
“Peter, can you get this bowl for me?” You yelled
“Coming.” Peter dashed out of the room, grateful that you made his stay or go decision for him. He met you in the pantry and easily grabbed the bowl for you. He wasn’t that much taller than you, but the extra inches was all he needed to easily reach the bowl.
“Thanks.” You said, taking the bowl from him. You made your way back to the microwave and removed the bag, careful not to burn yourself. You started to pour it in the bowl when you felt Peter's arms grab around your waist and bring you into a hug.
“Peter!” You cried, blushing hard. “You’re going to make me spill it.” You held onto his arms as he swayed softly.
“Your hair smells nice.” You felt butterflies in your stomach as he nuzzled into your neck. Why’d he have to be so sweet and cute all the time? There was never a minute around him that you weren’t blushing at something he said or did. He squeezed you tighter, making you squirm a bit.
“Peter, let me go!” You squealed, trying to get free.
“Nope! You’re stuck with me!” He replied squeezing you even tighter. You were so distracted with Peter's death hug that neither of you realized your sister watching you
“Um? Can I get a drink please?” Mia asked, gesturing to her cup. Both of you scrambled quickly out of the hug and your checks felt red.
“Oh! Uh… yeah, sorry.” You replied, nervously crossing your arms in front of your chest. Peter was standing beside you, fidgeting with his hands. You noticed that whenever he was nervous or embarrassed he would do that and you thought it was the cutest thing. You quickly went back to pouring the popcorn into the bowl, glaring at Peter when he stole some.
“Save some for the movie!” You said, shoving him lightly. He rolled his eyes playfully, smiling then running his hand through his curly hair. Oh you loved his curly hair so much. There literally is nothing that you don’t like about him and you’re fine with that. Mia had already gotten her drink and was watching the two of you.
“You guys need to get a room.” She said, making both you and Peter blush. She reached past you, stealing a couple pieces of popcorn.
“Seriously, you too!” You scolded. “Mia just leave.”
“Where did you think I was going?” She replied, turning to go to her room.
“Sorry.” You said back to Peter.
“Don’t make me an aunt y/n!” Mia yelled from down the hall, closing her door. You gave her the biggest eye roll of your life, blushing once more when your eyes met Peters again.
“Um… you ready?” You asked him.
“Uh… yeah.” He replied, grabbing the popcorn and following you to your room. You moved the covers out of the way and sat down, Peter doing the same thing and putting the popcorn between you too.
“Which one do you want to watch?l” he asked, shoving some popcorn into his mouth.
“I don’t really care. They’re all basically the same.” You said grabbing some popcorn, not noticing Peter's disappointed look.
“What! Y/n! How are you even my girlfriend, seriously! They’re all so different, how do you not know this? I watch them literally all the time.” You giggled at his response. This was the first time either of you had mentioned the whole boyfriend girlfriend thing, but you actually didn’t mind it. It made you feel all warm inside hearing him refer to you as his girlfriend.
“I’m usually doing homework while you’re watching, I’ve only actually paid attention to like one.” You shoved another handful of popcorn into your mouth, watching Peter playfully roll his eyes at you and smile softly.
“Whatever you say, we’re watching the first one and I’m gonna make sure you’re paying attention.”
“Ok, ok!” For the first time ever you felt strangely comfortable around him. You were finally able to be your usual sarcastic self around him. Not that you hadn’t before but usually you were super awkward when it was just him and you. This was great. The movie started playing and you actually watched it this time, instead of dozing off or daydreaming. Peter couldn’t help but steal quick glances at you. He noticed your soft expression, attentively watching the movie. The way you bit softly at your lip every once in a while or how your eyes reflected the movie. He wanted to put his arm around you but didn’t know how you would react so he kept to himself. You could feel him looking at you a couple times, making you blush inside. Eventually, the credits began to appear and you rubbed your eyes lightly.
“Well, what’d you think?” Peter asked, eating the last piece of popcorn. It actually ended up being really good, but Peter didn’t need to know that.
“It was ok, I guess.” You said, trying not to smile and stretching your arms.
“Just ok?”
“Don’t push it Parker.” You replied, rolling your eyes. Suddenly it began to rain, hard. You watched the water droplets run heavily down your window.
“Well, I guess you’re staying over.” You said, walking over to the window to close your curtains.
“Are you sure? I don’t mind walking home.” Peter said, swinging his feet over to meet the floor.
“Are you crazy? You can’t walk home in this. Besides it’s late.” You said, just noticing it was 11:07.
“Um… ok. I’m just gonna call May.” He said fidgeting with his hands. Now he was the awkward one. He went to the kitchen to call his aunt while you went back to your bed, Peter coming in soon after.
“Thanks.”
“Yeah, sure anytime. So now what.”
“We can watch the next one?” He suggests climbing into bed next to you.
“Alright fine, but I can’t promise I’ll stay awake. I’m tired.” You said letting out a yawn. Peter's warm brown eyes seemed even more innocent, if that was even possible and you felt the butterflies from earlier return. The next movie began to play and you were instantly captivated. The special effects were actually really good considering when it was made and you really enjoyed the plot. It was about half way in when you noticed Peter start to doze off. I thought I was the one supposed to be falling asleep.
A couple minutes went by and you flinched lightly when his head fell onto your shoulder. It felt nice, comforting to know that he could fall asleep on you. You instantly felt tired as well and turned off the movie. You didn’t want to actually lay down in fear of waking him so you leaned your head on top of his and curled into his side. He was very warm and sleep instantly overcame you.
You woke up first, noticing your arms intertwined with his. Another thing you noticed about him was his arms. He was ripped. You didn’t know how or why he was so fit, considering he never said anything about working out, but hey, you definitely weren’t complaining. You grabbed your phone from the nightstand and checked the time. 11:45. Shit. My parents will be home soon. You lightly ran your hands through Peters hair, slowly going down to his shoulder to shake him lightly.
“Peter. Wake up. It’s 11:45, my parents will be back soon.” You said in a hushed whisper. Peter opened his eyes slightly, letting out a groan.
“Ugh… just five more minutes.” He groaned, grabbing onto your arm tightly. You smiled at his cute sleepy voice before snapping back to reality.
“Peter, let me go. My parents will be back soon and I don’t want them to think we did anything.” You tried to pull your arm out of his death grip but it wouldn’t budge. How is he so strong?
“Peter!”
“Y/n!” He groaned at you, his eyes still shut
“Let me go!” You squealed, frantically trying to free your arm.
“Never!” Peter grabbed your waist pulling you in tighter. You blushed at how close you too were, your noses practically touching.
“Peter, I’ll come over later, ok. It will only be like 2 hours until you see me again.” You said softly to him.
“Alright.” He agreed, releasing you. You went to the bathroom to change your clothes and to brush your teeth. The popcorn taste still in your mouth from last night. When you came out, Peter was still in the bed. Boys are so annoying. Letting out a sigh, you walked over to your bed and poked Peters’ cheek a few times.
“Peter get up. I will drag you out of this bed if I have to.” He let out a soft groan but still didn’t budge.
“Fine then.” You said and pulled his legs over the side. Then you grabbed his shoulders and tried to roll him over. He was a lot heavier than you expected. It took nearly all your strength to finally roll him off the bed. Thud.
“Ow.” Peter said, lying on the floor. You tried your best to not laugh but you couldn’t help it.
“Should have gotten up then.” You replied, grabbing his hands to help him up. Again, taking most of your strength.
“Next time, you’re gonna be the one rolling me out of bed, Parker.” You snarked at him.
“No problem, I’ll just carry you, like this.” He said, reaching under your legs and around your arms, bridal style. You blushed a little while in his arms. He began to spin you around.
“Peter! Put me down!” You laughed, feeling dizzy when he stopped.
“You’re no fun.” He pouted, his eyes staring into you. You rolled your eyes at him and started pushing him out of your room, through the kitchen and into the hallway of the building.
“Sorry, but you gotta go. I’ll see you later.” You closed the door and walked into the kitchen to get some water. You were all smiley and giddy after he left. Only Peter could do this to you.
“Later” had finally rolled around and after greeting your parents, you decided to text Peter.
Can I come over?
Duh. You laughed at his response before asking your mom if you could go over.
“Yeah sure, just call me if your staying over.” Your mom said.
“Thanks, I love you.” You replied, turning to open the door. Peter lived in the apartment complex just down the street from yours so it only took you about a five minute walk to get there. You knocked on the door and were greeted by May.
“Oh hi y/n! It’s so good to see you! Please come in.” She said holding the door open for you. You stepped inside, wiping your feet on the mat so you didn’t track muddy water from last night’s storm through the house.
“Thanks.” You replied, smiling and tucking your hair behind your ear.
“Will you be staying for dinner? I ordered Chinese because I know it’s your favorite and Peter said you’d be over.” May was the sweetest person you knew. This must be where Peter got it from.
“That’s so sweet of you! I guess I’ll stay.” You said, kicking your shoes off.
“Of course! You’re welcome here anytime.” You gave her a smile and made your way towards Peter’s room. You had been here several times before, to do homework or study. You and Peter both had the same classes so you often studied together. You knocked on Peter’s door softly.
“Peter?” You said, when he didn’t answer. You waited a little before going in. You opened the door and went to sit on his bed. You figured he must be in the shower. You decided to scroll through instagram for a bit until he was done. Liking your friends post about seeing Spider-Man in person. You always dreamed of what it would be like to meet any of the Avengers. Iron Man was your favorite but you also like Spider-Man because of his super strength and web shooters. You started texting your friend back, telling them how cool they were to meet your idol when suddenly the door opened. You looked up to see Peter with just a towel around his waist. He was ripped. He had abs and his arms looked amazing. You immediately blushed a dark red. How did you not notice this before. Probably because this was the first time you’d seen him without a shirt on. His hair was wet, making his curls look really defined. You were basically drooling but forced yourself to come back to reality before he noticed.
“Oh sorry! I didn’t know you were here.” He said, fidgeting with his hands. “Could you um… hand me my shirt. It’s right by you on the bed.”
“Oh um…sure.” You replied, handing him the shirt. You tried your best to not look at his chest but failed. He definitely picked up on it, grinning softly and looking at the floor. You quickly turned away, looking back at your phone as he went back into the bathroom to change. A couple minutes later he came out, fully clothed this time. You put down your phone and stood up.
“Um… do you want to continue watching Star Wars?” You asked, noticing how he was fidgeting with his hands again.
“Uh sure” He replied, leading the way to the couch. He got the movie started and sat down awkwardly beside you. It was weird considering how you literally slept in the same bed last night and right now, it feels like you just met. About 10 minutes into the movie you started getting really cold. Your apartment didn’t have air conditioning so when you came over, you were always cold. Peter noticed you shivering but didn’t really know what to do.
“Are you cold?” He asked, turning towards you.
“A little.” You replied, rubbing your hands on your arms, trying to warm them. Peter reached for a blanket on the back of the couch and handed it to you.
“Here.” He said handing you the large grey blanket.
“Thanks.” You draped the blanket over you but it didn’t do much. You were still shivering a little. Peter noticed and pulled you closer to him. He pulled the blanket around both of you and hugged you into his chest. He could smell your shampoo and perfume, making him relax. You blushed at his sweet gesture noticing his smell too. It was so comforting and you didn’t feel cold anymore.
“Is that better?” He asked, looking down at you with his warm brown eyes. You literally melted right then and there.
“Yes. Thank you.” You nuzzled into his chest, turning back to watch the movie. Peter admired how cute you looked, being all snuggled on his chest. How had he not done this sooner, being your boyfriend that is. He had liked you for a year before he finally got the courage to ask you out. Well, to ask you to study with him. He told you he liked you that night. You had liked him since the day you met at the decathlon, 2 years prior.
His fingers drew soft circles on your side, making you feel butterflies of warmth. You looked up to see him staring at you intently. You noticed his hair curled more when it was wet. How his eyes seemed softer when you were like this. You noticed his lips, slightly open. Thinking about how magical it would be to kiss them. His sharp jaw line that seemed to cut right through you. You felt yourself being pulled towards him, your mouth parting. You brought your hand up his chest, feeling his toned muscles. Your hands making their way to the back of his neck. You ran your fingers through his hair as he started pulling you closer to him. Your stomach felt like there was a whole butterfly migration going through it. Your noses were touching now and you slowly brought your head up to meet his lips, about to receive your first kiss.
“Peter, y/n!” You heard May call from the other room, immediately snapping you out of your trance and you literally flew off of him, returning back to your awkward self. Peter turned around to look at May.
“Yeah?” He said.
“I’m going to pick up the food. I’ll be back in about 20 minutes.”
“Ok.” He replied. Turning back towards the tv, his hands fidgeting. You wrapped yourself back up in the blanket, feeling cold again without Peter's warm touch. You couldn’t believe what just happened, or what almost just happen. You and Peter avoided each other until May came back with the food. Turning your attention back to the movie and processing the events of yesterday and today. Peter falling asleep on your shoulder, you cuddling with him. You having to drag him out of bed, and him spinning you around like a toddler. You seeing him without his shirt and of course, the time 20 minutes ago when you almost kissed. Thankfully, you just heard May get back so you didn’t have to be on this fucking couch anymore.
“Hey guys I’m back. Come eat.” May yelled, taking the food out of the bags and putting various kinds of chicken, ramen and rice on plates. You and Peter quickly went to the kitchen, the smell of spring rolls and ramen filling the house. You grabbed the plate that was mostly ramen with some chicken while Peter chose a plate with everything on it and to top it off, he added about 15 spring rolls to his pile.
“Jesus Peter, how many spring rolls do you need?” You cried out, gesturing to his plate.
“I’m a growing boy y/n, I eat a lot.” He replied with a goofy grin, making you laugh hysterically. May and Peter gave you strange looks as you were almost crying from laughing so hard.
“You did not just say that!” You giggled, setting your plate down.
“What? That I’m a growing boy?” He replied. You nodded while uncontrollable laughter over came you, making Peter and May laugh also. After a couple minutes you began to calm down, whipping the tears from your eyes.
“Sorry, that was just really funny.” You said before shoving ramen into your mouth.
“So Y/n, how are your parents? I haven’t seen them in forever.” May asked.
“Oh they’re fine. They were on a work trip this past week. They just got back today.” You replied, noticing Peter was already almost halfway done with his food while you had barely eaten any of yours.
“Peter slow down, geez!” Cried May, noticing his fast eating too.
“I’m hungry.” He muffled, his mouth full.
“Yes we’ve been over that.” You replied, rolling your eyes at him. The rest of dinner consisted of awkward small talk between you and May with Peter joint in occasionally. May was really sweet but it’s still kinda awkward talking to her.
After you were all finished eating, you and Peter did the dishes. You both mostly kept to yourselves, not wanting to create yet another embarrassing moment. When the last few dishes were put in the dishwasher, you started to make your way towards Peter's room. Just before you got there, Peter grabbed your arm, and spun around to face him. You were confused, obviously. You and Peter were both silent, neither wanting to break up this moment together. Peter took a step closer to you, making him practically on top of you. You looked up at him, noticing his eyes were soft again. His hand made its way from your wrist to your waist, pulling you in closer. The butterflies returned, as well as the heat from when you were with him under the blanket.
You ran your hand up his chest, feeling his abs clench at your touch. You brought both hands up to the back of his neck. His other hand cupped your face. At last, he leaned down and closed his eyes. Finally it was happening. You closed your eyes and stood on your tippy toes. Your lips collided and it was equal parts ecstasy and magic. You tasted the many spring rolls on his lips as he parted them for you. You turned your head slightly to make it easier for him. You couldn’t believe what was happening. You were kissing Peter Parker. The only boy you’ve wanted to kiss for two years.
You never wanted it to end, never wanting this feeling to be over. He grabbed your waist tighter, slightly lifting you with his strong arms. Your hands in his hair, twisting it in your fingers. He broke off slightly to open his door and lead you to his bed. He sat down and lifted you onto his lap. Normally this position would make you embarrassed but you were too captivated by him to care. He kissed you twice as passionately as before, your tongues interwoven. Damn he’s a good kisser. Not that you had anything to compare him to. You heard a knock at the door suddenly, but you were too captivated by him to actually do anything about it. You continued making out with him, pulling his hair more.
“Peter.” You heard May yell through the door. You knew what was about to happen but you were too occupied by this magical kiss to care. Sure enough, the door swung open, leaving you and Peter exposed to May.
“Hey Peter- oh my gosh! Sorry!” She exclaimed, closing the door. Peter pushed you off of him, his cheeks bright red.
“Im gonna… um… go see what she needs.” He told you shakily. He opened the door and you saw May covering her eyes and shaking her head every once in a while. You wiped your mouth off a little bit and smoothed down your hair. You couldn’t believe May had just seen the two of you like this. You tried to make out what they were saying.
“Can I look?” May said, still covering her eyes.
“Uh… yeah. Im sorry.” Peter said, scratching his head and looking down.
“I’m gonna take a shower then go to bed early.”
“Ok.”
“I’m trusting you, Peter.” She said looking at him intensely. “Please be safe. Goodnight.” She said, kissing Peter’s forehead. “Love you.”
“Love you too, May.” Peter replied before closing the door. He made his way back over to the bed, sitting down next to you just like before.
“So um… do you want to watch Star Wars?” He asked, making you giggle.
“Sure.” You said, tucking a stray hair behind your ear. He got his laptop and turned on the movie. You both got under the covers, this time you cuddled right into him. Savoring his warmth and his smell that you’d grown to love. He put his arm around you, pulling you close, fingers brushing light circles on your skin. Your head was on his chest and you could hear his heartbeat. You never wanted to leave this warm, safe haven he had created. He pressed a light kiss to your forehead, making you blush.
“I love it when you do that.” He said looking down at you.
“Do what?” You questioned, looking up at him, confused at his statement.
“When you blush every time I compliment or touch you. It’s cute.” He said, brushing the hair that had fallen in your face out of the way. You smiled softly, doing the exact thing he just described.
“You’re pretty cute too, Parker.” You said looking intensely into his warm brown eyes.
“Also…” you started, “how are you so fit?”
“Wh-What do you mean?” He stuttered. You lightly hit his chest, scoffing.
“No one just has abs.” You tell him.
“I don’t know. I must have good genes I guess.” He said, blushing a little. You rolled your eyes at him before nuzzling back into his chest. Your heart swelling at how much you cared for him. Your eyelids felt heavy, tired from the drama of today. You closed your eyes and quickly drifted to sleep, savoring this moment for as long as you could.

Foresight ~ ch.4
a/n: heyooooo, it’s chapter 4! btw, if y’all have requests send them in!!
masterlist
Once at the tour bus, you were met with various sleepy stares from a couple crew and the band members.
Sarah came up to you and basically melted into your hug, “I’m so tired…” She mumbled. You agreed with her as a crew person came up to take your suitcase and store it under the bus.
You realized there was more than once bus and wondered where you were supposed to go, “Hey Sar, do you know which bus I’m supposed to go on?” She rubbed the sleep out of her eye, “You’re probably on ours cause you’re Harry Styles ‘best friend’ right?” You nodded at her prediction and started to wonder about the friend thing.
Are we just going to pretend? Or does he actually wanna be real friends…
You were interrupted from your thoughts by Jeff tapping on your shoulder. “Good morning sunshine.” “Hey, Jeff.” “There’s an extra bed in the band’s bus you can take that one.” You gave a smile to him, “Thanks.”
Everyone climbed into their respective buses so they could start the 5-hour drive right on the dot. The bus was a lot bigger than you expected.
In the front behind the driver's seat was a long couch that sat opposite its twin couch, it the left corner close to the bus door was a tv drilled into the wall that sat diagonally. Farther back was a booth and table and then a mini kitchen on the right side. You walked farther back and saw on the left the small slide door to the bathroom and then another sliding door in the middle of the hallway opened to show the 4 sets of bunk beds, two on each side.
Each bed was covered with a curtain you could pull back. All of the beds thankfully, had their curtains open so you could see which one would most like be yours. It was the last bottom bed on the left side, it was the only one that didn’t have any pictures stuck on the walls inside around the tiny windows. One bed had fairy lights taped to the ceiling and another had a poster of Fleetwood Mac.
Putting down your backpack, you sat down onto the teal duvet that was too soft to be real.
“Innit comfy? 100% Egyptian Cotton.” You looked up to find a very cozy looking boy. Harry was wearing grey sweatpants and a tour hoodie.
His hair was sticking out from different angles and you could see the faint shadow of a beard growing. “Hi Harry, how are you feeling?” You asked as he sat down on the bed across from yours and started to take off his shoes.
“I’ll be better once we’re on the road.” Something about this tone made you wonder if he had a rough night but you didn’t ask anything else as the engine started up and the rest of the band came into the sleeping area to try and sleep the whole trip to Amsterdam.
Someone hit the lights off as the bus started to move and everyone’s curtains closed sans yours and Harry’s. You pulled your noise-canceling headphones you’d gotten as a present from a friend the year before and connected it to your phone to play some tunes to drown out the hum of the engine.
Little streams of light flashed in from your tiny window every so often so you pulled the black-out blinds shut and climbed into the XL twin bed.
You gave a little wave to Harry who had set up with a book and closed your curtain to try and sleep.
At some point on the drive, one of the turns the tour bus had taken jostled you awake. You pulled your blinds up a tiny bit to see that the sun was just breaking over the horizon.
You pulled your headphones off and took your hair down to brush through with your fingers. You contemplated going back to sleep but decided not to so you could enjoy the sunrise as you rode through the lovely landscape of Europe. You closed your blinds again and pulled back your curtains to get out of bed.
What surprised you was the bed across from you was empty, the curtain pulled back all the way and the conformer kicked down towards the end of the bed. After glancing around to see all the others were closed, you tiptoed out of the corridor and slipped out the sliding door, softly closing it behind you.
“Wha ’re doin’ up so early?
A British voice asked as you turned around to see the man of the hour sprawled out on the left side couch with a bowl of oatmeal in hand.
You padded over to the opposite couch and sat down into it, admiring how it swallowed you up.
Sorta like the cat bus in Totoro…
“Just got jostled awake by a turn, I wanted to watch the sunrise.” He hummed at your response and took a scoop of oatmeal.
You glanced over your shoulder to see the horizon painted with rays of yellow, orange, and peach.
“Sorta looks like a Sunflower doesn’t it?” You said aloud to him, still watching the new bursts of light dance around on the land below it. You heard the tap in the kitchen run and looked to see Harry rinsing out his empty bowl.
“Why are you up so early?” You finally asked, after swaying between thinking it might overstep boundaries or not. He shrugged and sat down, this time sitting on your couch. He rested an arm on the backrest and watched the road.
“Not sleeping well I guess.” You didn’t say anything, just watched out the window with him, not wanting to scare him if he decided to elaborate.
After a few minutes, he finally did. “I had a phone call last night that I wasn’t expecting and it just, messed with my head. Didn’t sleep very well s’all.”
Frankly, you didn’t know what position you were in to give advice but he seemed pretty torn up so you decided to give it a go.
“When I get into an argument with someone, I try and think of the qualities of them that I love them for and try to see my side from their point of view. Sometimes it infuriates me to the core cause I can’t see a different version of the story than mine, but once I do its easier to work things out cause then I can address the points that, if I were in their shoes, would upset me.”
He didn’t say anything, so you continued. “But Harry,” you put a hand on his shoulder and he turned his face ever so slightly to look at you, “remember that sometimes the other side of the argument may not be true and you can’t do anything about it. So if you can’t do anything to change it, don’t let yourself be consumed by it.”
You cracked a small smile, “Plus lavender and chamomile tea always put my mind at ease and it’s easier to sleep after a cuppa I think.”
The conversation ended without his response because Mitch and Sarah came into the main space to make coffee and breakfast. While the three musicians chatted, you slipped back into the cabin to grab your toothbrush and went into the bathroom to brush your teeth and do other things. You curled your eyelashes again, just in case.
After putting your makeup bag back in your backpack, you pulled your laptop out and sat down on your bed after pulled the blinds up. You didn’t get under the covers because it started to get warm in the bus.
“Clare?” The woman in question looked down at you from the top bunk that sat diagonally opposite yours. “Is there wifi on the bus?” She smiled and answered. “Ya, connect to the router ‘only’ and type in for the password ‘angel’.”
You snorted at the namesake of both titles and gave her a thanks. You opened your email account and sent an email to both of your college profs to plead to ask to transfer your work online.
Hello prof!
So, a situation has occurred and I’m going now to be in Europe for the next month. Is there any way I would be able to transfer my classes online for the time being?
Let me know what actions I need to take.
Y/N L/N
After re-reading it a couple times, you sent it off just to get out there before class was supposed to start again.
For the next two hours, you went over the syllabus and tried to find things you’d be able to write about or take pictures of incase your teachers needed a bit more convincing.
You had pulled out your camera and were looking through some of the recent pictures of Europe you had taken for the extra credit assignment your photography teacher had given you when Harry walked back into the sleeping area.
He sat on his bed and pulled his feet into a crisscross applesauce position.
“You’re a photographer?” He inquired. You glanced up at him for a moment and then looked back down in concentration on the picture in front of you and the screen of your laptop.
“Yeah, for class.—Damn, I don’t think this photo qualifies.” “Huh?” Harry hopped off his bed and peaked down to what you were looking at.
“Scoot over.” “What?”
He rolled his eyes are you and squished onto the bed with you. “What are you working on?” He asked with what looked like, honest interest. It surprised you a bit, since why would he care?
He could be doing so many, probably more important things on the ride than sitting with me.
“Well, I’m taking a photography class in college, one of my last actually. I did dual credit classes in high school and only needed a few to technically graduate with my degree.”
“Wha’s your degree ’n?”
“Photography and Media Arts with a minor in Creative Writing.”
He blew a larger breath out and sat back against the pillows you propped up against the wall, “That’s a mouthful innit?”
You smiled and held the camera up a bit to zoom into the picture. “I love it, I actually take photos for a few companies in New York which is exciting. It’ll help that I already have clients leaving college.”
“Where do you go to college?” “NYU.” “Very cool aren’t yeh?” You pushed a strand of hair behind your ear and smiled at the compliment. “So what’s wrong with the picture?” He asked.
“I’m working on an assignment—” “during spring break?!” “—an extra credit assignment, and basically for each of these words I need a picture that correlates to it. The crossed off ones I’ve already completed.”
Harry leaned forward to read the words off your laptop.
Extra Credit Work
Please take photos over this month and relate at least one picture to each word below. Each picture is worth 10 points. You can add a caption about the picture to help it associate in need.
Joy
Sour
Chaos
Silly
Bright
Anguish
Erotic
Heavenly
Red
Enigma
Due May 1st.
“This is the photo I wanted to use for Joy but I don’t know if it's too generic or not.”
You gave him the camera, the photo was of Maggie on the first day in Paris. She was leaning backwards, looking at the Eiffel Tower.
“See, you can’t see her face, which is okay but the body isn’t giving that much expression either so I’m not sure if it will come off as stiff or not.”
He spent a few more moments looking at the picture and then the word. “I think it represents joy perfectly.”
You tilted your head and gave a quizzical expression.
“Look,” he started, “your definition of joy is different from someone else, right? But it’s easier to see that the focus of the photo is in a carefree state, leanin’ back, hair down. An’ I don’t think her body is stiff, ’t’s just relaxed. You can add a caption too if you want right? Maybe add somethin' like, the true feeling of joy ’s when you can finally throw your head back an’ not worry about hittin a wall or som’hin like that.”
He handed you the camera back and you looked at the picture again with a different view on it. “Wow—thank you, that’s honestly just what I needed to hear.” He looked down to his fingers, “can say the same fo’ this morin’, thank you fo’ that.”
Close it quickly Y/N….
Close them…huh?
“Blinds!”
Someone yelled from the main corridor. Harry jumped up from the bed and you pulled your blind shut as he pulled his shut and checked the others.
“Wha’ is it?!” He yelled into the other room, you trailed behind him after putting your things back into your backpack. Adam had a clicker in his hand that put down a black veil over both large windows in the main compartment.
“This bus has blacked-out windows, why the veils?” You asked.
“Cause if fans come up to the bus with a flash camera, it can still take a picture of the inside, this way the veil blocks it out.” The veils still allowed you to see through them sorta and you gasped at the sight before you. It seemed as though hundreds of people had mobbed the as the bus was trying to drive through.
“We’re in Amsterdam.” You stated.
“Yeah,” Mitch replied, “seems as though the fans were tipped off of which hotel we’re staying in or something.” After hearing that, the whole room filled with a slight tension that caused you back to ache.
Clare glanced at her phone, “Jeffery is telling us to brace ourselves cause the hotel doesn’t have a private entrance we could drive through, we’re gonna have to go through the crowd.” The band dispersed to get their stuff.
As you packed up, Harry’s phone started to ring.
“Yeh? Mhm, yeah—fuck you’r right.” The British heartthrob turned to look at you which made you wonder who he was talking to.
“Will do, bye.” He ended the call and took his black hoodie off.
“Give me your sweatshirt, Jeff says we’ve got to make sure you don’t draw too much attention to yourself cause we don’t want a riot since we don’t ‘ave security wit’ us.”
You nodded and shrugged off the pink long sleeve. Once you got the hoodie over your head, you noticed how it engulfed you slightly.
“Got any sunnies?”
You pulled some out from a case in your bag and slipped them on. “We’re as close to the door as we can get, it’s time to go!”
Sarah called out to the band. “Hold you’r backpack in your hand, don’t want them to grab the handle and yank you back.” You only nodded and tied your tennis shoes before following the rest of them out to the door.
“Ready? Open, open, open!”

07 Ghost - The World! (Part 1)
So I guess 07 Ghost had a radio show? This is such a weird concept to me. Like, do they have a radio channel in Japan that’s just really anime-specific? If, for example, Avatar: The Last Airbender had a radio show with all of the voice actors, where the heck would that broadcast from?
The radio show is actually longer than the anime too, 30 whole episodes! I guess it’s not that surprising because it’s very low effort. Kind of like a podcast between friends. You can find it on nico nico douga (I’ve added a few links below to point you in the right direction).
Episode 1
My first impression is that this isn’t really something you’re meant to sit down and listen to start-to-finish. It’s like most talk radio where you’re meant to hear it during your drive to the grocery store or something. That being said, I had fun listening to this as a Japanese practice exercise. The fact that it’s not subtitled means I have to focus on it really hard, which keeps me from getting bored.
Basically in this episode they introduce their characters (described Teito and Mikage’s personalities), read fan mail, and play what sounded like a game of pictionary (although they renamed it “What’s inside Pandora’s box?”) I guess future episodes will have guests, so I look forward to that.
Episode 2
This episode was somehow longer than the first, but had about the same amount of content. The show is broken up into “corners” that shift around each episode. The ones I remember are: 07 Ghost news corner, fan mail corner, and then they usually play a game that’s 07-ghost related. This time they had to guess “What would X character say/do in Y situation.” The hilarious thing was that Mikage’s VA clearly did not read the manga and maybe didn’t even watch the show lol. He doesn’t know anything about the characters and struggles to remember their names. Meanwhile, Teito’s VA is either a superfan or just likes to do her homework because she was killing it. Honestly the straightman/dumbass dynamic fits their characters.
So far my favorite part of the series is hearing the fanmail. This was recorded around the time the anime was coming out, and it’s interesting to hear what the Japanese fanbase had to say when the series was fresh.
Episode 3
In this episode they had their first guest, Castor’s VA! He didn’t really add much to the show so it kind of felt like a wasted opportunity if you ask me. I wish they would have interviewed him or something. This time around featured a lot of kanji discussion (apparently Mikage’s VA isn’t very good at reading kanji) and they discussed what they’d like to try out in the 07-Ghost world (riding a hawkzile and using zaiphon). Mikage’s VA continued to act dumb and got spanked at one point for losing a game (I think?).
Episode 4
Okay, this was my favorite episode so far because they got Ayanami’s VA to guest star! AHHHHHH! His voice is so sexy lol. The first thing Teito and Mikage’s VAs did was basically say “so...why is your voice so nice?” lol. They discussed what ages their voices dropped and he said 5th grade. They talked about Teito’s VA’s voice change as well and I was just like “huh? Does that happen with girls?” Like, yeah obviously our voices change too, but I definitely don’t have any recollection of an exact time when that happened.
Anyway, this episode had the usual “game show-like” games that were fun to listen to, as well as listener mail. Basically every letter was bullying Mikage’s VA which was hilarious and Teito’s VA continued to rag on him for not reading the manga. Listening to Ayanami’s VA speak naturally was fascinating because his natural speaking voice isn’t far off from the character’s. Man if I met a guy with that deep a voice in person, I’d probably melt.
Episode 5
This one was pretty boring, especially compared to episodes 3-4. There was no guest and all of the “corners” felt pretty copy-paste from previous episodes. They chatted about White Day a little and what their characters would give on White Day. They also tried weird drinks/food towards the end that were requested by viewers.
Not much to say about this one, but I’m really enjoying listening to these. They have the low budget “just hanging out” that’s relaxing to listen to and I like the chemistry of the hosts. It’s also really good listening practice when I can’t rely on video or subtitles.
Episode 6
This episode was fun because Labrador’s VA dropped by with his sweet voice. I actually had to double check and make sure his VA was a guy because I was like “wait...do guys sound like this??” I found his website and apparently he does the voice for Phineas from Phineas and Ferb, Beast Boy from Teen Titans and Fiver from Watership Down!! I should really watch more Japanese dubs of western stuff.
The conversation leaned heavily on food in this one, which I appreciated. Apparently Labrador’s VA just eats constantly and never gets fat (must be nice). Mikage’s VA described Labrador’s eating habits as “Princess-like” because he eats a lot of sweets and expensive foods (like scallops). Jealous tbh. Mikage’s VA was roasted again for not reading the manga which will never not be funny.
Episode 7
So unfortunately, this one’s audio cuts out around 35 minutes in. At first I thought that there was something wrong on my end, but I tried the video on my phone and my laptop and neither would cooperate. Ah well, the parts I was able to hear were fun. In this episode it’s Namikawa’s B. Day (Mikage’s VA) so they celebrate that. They also talk about hanami because this was broadcasted in the spring. The “challenges” they do that are mostly 07-Ghost trivia are getting kinda cringey because Namikawa loses literally every time (since he didn’t read the manga lol).
Episode 8
In this episode Mikage’s VA was replaced with Hakuren’s VA because Mikage’s schedule was “too full” lol. It was interesting to hear Jun Fukuyama speak naturally, I feel like out of all the voices I’ve heard on this show so far, his has the biggest gap between his speaking and acting voice.
This episode was really chill, they talked about Jun’s cycling hobby and played some 07-Ghost trivia games. I found the Japanese really easy to understand this time around so I was able to play along which made things more fun. This one felt on the shorter side with less “corners” than usual. Teito’s VA keeps calling the show “yuru radio” which feels very accurate.
Episode 9
Another Hakuren episode. Honestly, I think I prefer the chemistry between Mikage/Teito’s VAs more because they have a deeper contrast in both their voices and personalities. Teito and Hakuren’s VAs feel more evenly matched so it’s kind of like listening to one person talk to themselves. The beginning of this episode was difficult for me to understand because they were talking so fast! I tried to slow down the playback speed but that just sounded horrible so I just toughed it out. Topics included: Golden Week, finger size (I think as like a fortune telling thing), and onsen.
At this point these episodes just fly by, I’ve really gotten used to their rhythm and the constant switching from corner to corner prevents me from getting bored. It took me a long time to get through these first 10, but hopefully I’ll be able to just binge the next 20.
Episode 10
Yaaay, episode 10! They celebrated by having Frau as a guest and Mikage’s VA returned. This episode actually had me laughing out loud a few times (which is rare because my Japanese isn’t very good lol). It was great to finally have Frau’s VA as a guest and I think the show’s more fun with 3 people rather than 2. Frau’s VA has a very “bored” sounding voice, like he’s too cool for school or something. Not to say he wasn’t fun to listen to, he’s just pretty monotone.
Unfortunately, I didn’t understand the game they played (creatively titled “07 Ghost: The Game”) at all this episode. It involved a lot of counting but I was just really lost as to what was going on. What I did understand was “The Last Supper” where they tried yogurt mixed with various things. They tried yogurt + mayo which a listener claimed tastes like cream cheese. Predictably, it tasted pretty gross and I got squicked just imagining it. Onto the next 20!

Graduation and new dilemas
June 23, 2020
We did it. We drove 13+ hours (including multiple stops) to Fort Worth and back for my son’s graduation. Overall it was a wonderful trip where I got to see family, take pics, work on my tan, and watch my son get his diploma. Well, the diploma holder. The baby did great on the car ride, with the circumstances, and only lost it on the way back with about 3 hours left. He was over it in a big way. But my husband was able to calm him down, as usual. I think my baby can sense his patience and his calm, whereas I am impatient and angry and overwhelmed with things. The days leading up to the trip were anxiety filled and lead to arguments between us. I don’t know how caught up this diary blog is but we recently had to replace the entire a/c unit at our house back home, that lead to finding a leak in the roof, which also lead to finding out the foundation needs additional repairs. The whole in the ceiling in the garage is still there, there are cracks in the walls in the living room, and several appliances need updating or replacing. The dryer door, the ice maker, the vent hood, blah blah blah home ownership woes blah. People keep calling and texting my husband to make a cash offer on the house, and I made a comment about yeah they are only seeing the outside, not all the problems inside and that sent us into an argument. Not to mention the argument the next morning as we are packing to leave. I, as the mother and woman, make lists of everything we will need on our 4 day trip. What I need to get ready for the graduation, what we want to take to leave at our house, things for the baby... My husband literally needs clothes and deodorant and he’s good. It doesn’t work that way for me and he knows it. Cue the argument about packing things. In reality, I did over pack because I didn’t work out ONCE during the trip like I had originally planned. Shame on me. But I was tired and heavy from all the extra food we had been consuming on this trip. Not to mention I was on serious pms emotions because I was supposed to start my period while we were there, and I didn’t, which is a whole other story in itself. I’m not pregnant, btw, I did a test this weekend and it was negative. My period has been messed up for months now. ANYWAY, my son LOVED his graduation gift from us, a laptop computer with music software that he likes, and we were able to celebrate briefly with my family on Sunday before the ceremony. We enlisted as a last minute SOS his sister to help us take pics, and she did a fabulous job. We were out in the texas summer heat but we did it and I have some amazing pictures to commemorate the occasion with my son. Both my sons. I did, however, forget the face cutouts my sis in law had had made that we were to use during the graduation, and we were late getting to our seats because we were waiting on her to get to our hotel room so we could leave. I had always envisioned watching the kids file in while pomp and circumstance played and becoming overwhelmed with emotion... I heard it briefly as I sulked over leaving the face cutouts in the trunk and security not allowing us to retrieve them as I rushed to find our seats. By the time we were seated the pledge of allegiance was over and the principal was speaking. It was very different from what I had pictured but we were in a pandemic and all in all it was as good as it could be. I was able to get pictures afterward with Zane for the last time before we left town, and say my tearful goodbye. We made it back without incident.
I’m getting my tattoo this Saturday, which still sounds like a distant dream, so I’ll be happy when it’s over and done with and I have new ink in my skin.
On his return, my husband found out a coworker put in his two weeks. Basically, he has been told the job is his if he wants it. There have been many discussions recently on where we see the future going, especially with all the recent problems we have had with our house. Ultimately, my husband wants to fix it up and rent it out. That leads us to discuss where we actually want to live. Here in Florida? Back in Texas closer to his work? Or fix up the house we live in now and stay put for the next 10 years until it’s just about paid off and THEN make a move. I think, last we discussed it, and believe me it is hard to keep track, he wants to finish the job here, which will likely wrap up at the end of this year or beginning of next, fix up our house just enough to rent it out, and then roll our mortgage into a gigantic new one and get a new house somewhere in Texas near his job. He wants to be back in Texas because he thinks his dad doesn’t have many years left. And he most likely doesn’t. He’s not in good health and doesn’t take care of himself. I am in agreement with all this, but there is still the matter of having one more baby. Our original plan back in the day was to start trying once we move back. I have a huge problem with being hot pregnant during the Texas summer months, which when we visited just now was in the 100s and it wasn’t technically summer yet, and want to wait until June or July to get knocked up so I can spend the heavily pregnant and hot times spread out over the winter months and have the baby in March. I will be just shy of 40, and Leo will be 3. Not to say I will be able to handle both children at once, especially since I have NEVER in my life seen that done firsthand, but I can’t imagine trying to keep a toddler busy and out of my hair while juggling a newborn and pumping or breastfeeding every 2 hours and not sleeping for days. When Leo was a newborn, I slept in the two hour windows he gave me. I won’t be able to do that while having a toddler to look after too. I honestly don’t see how women do it. Or I do see how accidents happen in the home more easily. Oh, the toddler fell off the furniture? Into the pool? drank the poison from the cabinet? yeah, probably while I was exhausted and chained to this other human being mouth to feed we felt like having. Let’s just make things THAT much harder, shall we? My husband gets 4 weeks off of work now, thank GOD so that should help me get caught up with rest in the beginning. I can only hope that jump start is enough to keep me going. And throw in the need to return to the gym in there somewhere. Not that I’m in immaculate shape, but I would like to continue to work on my body and not just let myself be disgusting and let go once I’m 40. It makes me break out into sweats just thinking about doing it all. But I digress.
Now that this new job has become available, there is a new option on the table. Possibly buying a house here, renting out the texas home, and staying put. I don’t have an issue with that, actually, barring we can get a nice house with a pool (I can’t be expected to lug this boy to the beach all the time) down here in a nice area. Interest rates are supposedly down right now because the world is currently falling apart. But that leaves us with fixing up the house back home enough to be livable to someone, hiring a management company because I’ll be damned if we are to be expected to deal with a broken water heater at 5 in the morning from Florida, and with the stipulation that it be rented to someone other than my husband’s enormous family. Because I can see it now. Someone falls on hard times and ‘rent will be a few days late this month’ and how my husband will be super understanding, and then ‘a couple of months behind’ turns into us paying for both houses and strapped for cash and him unable to evict said deadbeat tenant because they are ‘family’. Nope. Not happening.
Then he drops this bomb on me. After he tells his dad, mind you. He’s thinking about this job down here in Florida, but wants to move his dad in with us for 6 months at a time. oh. hell. to. the. no. I don’t even want family visiting us as it is, invading my personal space while my husband is at work all day, let alone taking up residence with us and being in my face all day. I don’t mind his dad, I really don’t. When he lives somewhere else and we can exchange pleasantries and then go back to our lives. He isn’t a very good housekeeper, and I don’t plan on cooking just because he is there. I get a long just fine the way we are here now. I work out in my living room since I can’t go to the gym anymore. And that works for me. I do not under any circumstances need an audience while I try to work out. I don’t need an extra person to clean up after. I don’t want someone interfering with how I raise my son. I’ve been there done that with my own family and that did not turn out well. I just like my privacy. Always have. And then what? I’m supposed to be pregnant and have the baby down here with zero people to help? And then my husband throws in the dad as an option to help. The man can barely help himself, he won’t be able to pick Leo up or control him other than talking to him. And 3 year olds don’t exactly do as they're told all the time. Or any of the time. I know my husband loves his dad and he is a good man, but I just don’t want anyone living with us. It’s an inconvenience to say the least. If that’s the case, I’d rather be back in Fort Worth in our house, fixing it up and spending the summer melting away with no pool. Part of this is that I don’t like change. I loathe it. Part of this is that I value my privacy. Part of this is I don’t want more housework to do. Part of this is I loathe entertaining. Expecting to keep people entertained and happy and have guests. I want to do my own thing and everyone else to do their own and everybody’s happy. We are right now at odds over this. If this is how we have to do it, then I would rather leave Florida and never return. As much as I love it down here, a huge part of that is the fact that there are no family members (his or mine) here to meddle. We are on our own and I love it. We can visit home when we want and on our terms. This is something my husband and I have always had arguments about. I keep my family at arms length, he can’t get his close enough. Which I understand. It’s how we were raised. I was raised with a family no larger than 4 people. He was raised with hundreds. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Sisters, Brothers, Nephews, Nieces. I had none of that. Zero. And I grew quite accustomed to my time being my time and my things being my things. Doing what I want when I wanted. Not having to wait on anyone else or invite anyone else or take a poll to see when the best time to do what is. Yes I’m spoiled in that way. But it’s a huge thing to do to ask me to move someone into my home. Where I go to get away from people and be in my own personal space. I don’t even want my family to visit for 2 weeks. I’m going to tell my grandmother she can come for 1 week max and no she can’t stay here while she’s here. I would hope my husband will do the same for his brother and his family but I don’t know how that is going to go. I’m not some evil person. But my space is my space and I don’t need an audience or a guest to dote over and clean up after. I don’t want to worry about us not having any food in the fridge. We live how it works for us now, and I don’t want to have to change that.
I have a feeling the worst is not over for me. Far from it. But I know me and I won’t be able to keep from pouting and sulking if I don’t get my way. Which will lead to more arguments. Which will lead to more resentment. I don’t want to lose my husband but I don’t want to gain another houseguest either. I honestly am angry and upset about the whole thing. Why shouldn’t I get a say in our future? Why can’t we have some mutual agreement, why is it 6 months at a time or nothing? That’s half a fucking year! And I know how hard it is to get a parent to leave. My mother was supposed to stay with me for 3 months and that turned into a whole year. I know how he is, and when the 6 months is up he won’t be able to say OK now get out, please! 6 months will turn into a year easily and then I don’t think I can keep the act up. I will be bitter and resentful and we will only grow apart. I don’t want that at all. I don’t know what we are going to do but I do know this situation is only going to get hairier. Help.

How to Improve Memory for Studying in 27 Ways Sometimes it feels impossible to remember everything thrown at you during college. Between the major battles of the Crimean War, partial derivatives, and the life cycle of the western gymnosperm, how do you keep it all in your head? But it turns out that with the right tools, you can drastically improve your ability to learn and retain the mountains of information necessary to succeed both in college and beyond. So read on and I’ll teach you 27 awesome memory hacks that will help you achieve this! 1. Your Brain 101 The human brain is an efficient organ, and sometimes we don’t keep information that we later wish we had. Our minds are full of memories and information accumulated over a lifetime, and we have basically two types of memory to help organize all this stuff: a) Short-term memory = things we’re doing right now; very sharp! b) Long-term memory = things we’ve done in the past; much duller. The goal here is to better encode information into your long-term memory so that it’ll be available later for, say, a pop quiz or test. I’ll talk about specific techniques to help you do this coming up. 2. Set the Scene Start off with choosing a study spot where your focus can rest fully on the task at hand to help with the encoding of memory. Even if you think you’re a multi-tasking ninja, your conscious mind can only focus on one thing at a time. So eliminate any distractions. A quiet room with good lighting is best for reading. In a classroom, the ideal scenario is taking notes with pen and paper. Or if you’re a laptop note taker, at least shut off any notifications from popping up to remind you that you’ve gone fifteen minutes without checking Facebook! Look: Failing to prepare yourself to learn will render most of the following tricks and tips useless. We know life isn’t perfect, and you can’t always have the ideal setting available for studying. But with a little advance planning, it’s absolutely doable. 3. Be Present If you can restate what you’ve heard in a lecture in your own words, your chances of remembering later are much higher than if you listen passively. This is called “attending,” and there are many ways to do it: writing notes during a lecture instead of just listening, or in a one-on-one session with your prof saying “This is what I think you said…” and then putting it in your own words. Just be sure that your laptop and other distractions are put away to enable you to focus solely on the task at hand. 4. Keep Calm and Study On Stress decreases your ability to encode and retrieve memories. My guess is that if you’re reading this article, then that’s the last thing you want to do! This stress impact can be reduced with meditation, focused breathing, or even yoga. Anything you do to relax and reduce stress can and likely will help your memory. 5. Go to Bed Yes, your mom was right. Those all-nighters are doing you more harm than good. While you may think the extra hours of studying will get you the grade you want, studies have proven that sleep is vital for memory. One such study completed by Rasch and Born demonstrated the importance of REM sleep—the deepest stage in the sleep cycle—in stabilizing memories. Getting enough sleep every night and maintaining as regular a sleep and wake time as possible will go miles toward a better memory. 6. Exercise A good workout won’t just help your memory, but it may reduce stress and help you sleep. Triple whammy! This doesn’t mean you need to spend an hour on the treadmill every day. Simply electing to take the stairs instead of the elevator or walking the three blocks to your favorite coffee shop instead of taking the bus can make a difference. 7. Outsource Your Brain Know a great way to help your memory? Stop relying on your brain to remember every little detail. In the age of calendar apps, let your phone remember that dentist appointment. You focus on the power rule for your calculus exam. 8. Focus on the Learning Process Let’s face it: Nothing can replace the time you put in effectively studying and learning new material. Studying early and often will always beat last-minute cramming. But inevitably with all the things competing for your time in college, you’ll find yourself the night before a test wondering how you’re ever going to get all that information in your head. That’s why I’m going to focus the rest of the tips on some specific techniques that can be real life savers for speeding up the memorization process. 9. Acronyms You’ve likely heard of PEMDAS, the acronym that helped us all to memorize the order of operations in elementary school. By remembering this made-up word, you can recall the sequence of words that align with each letter: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction. Try making up your own acronyms as easy shortcuts to memorizing everything from historical events to chemical processes. 10. Acrostics Similarly, acrostics are words comprised of the first letters of other words. But typically you use them to join longer phrases or concepts. For a simple example, if you’re studying the Gettysburg Address, you might make an acrostic that looks like this: Abraham Lincoln delivered it on November 19, 1863 Because he wanted to honor Union soldiers who had fallen at the Battle of Gettsyburg Equality, freedom, and democracy were its main themes 11. Create Connections and Associations Connecting something you know to a new concept you’re trying to learn can help fix that new concept in your memory. For example, knowing that gravity causes things to move faster and faster toward the Earth when dropped, you may associate acceleration with gravity. Acceleration is like gravity but can be in any direction. 12. Repetition (Listening) We all memorize through repetition when we listen to our favorite song a hundred times and suddenly realize we know every word. In the same way, when you listen to a definition you’re trying to memorize as either you or a friend repeat it over and over, then you’ll remember it more quickly. 13. Repetition (Doing) This method is common with musicians and athletes. Perhaps a violinist can’t seem to memorize a few measures of music; she might repeat the same notes until her fingers seem to play the notes on their own. 14. Repetition (Reading) If you want to remember the order of a story for a presentation, it may help to read its summary several times. When you reach the point of knowing what’s about to happen before you read it, then you know you’ve memorized the order of events. 15. Repetition (Writing) When it comes to things like new terms and spelling differences, sometimes writing and re-writing something until it becomes second nature can help you to memorize it. 16. Rhyme-Keys This method typically is used with a list in which order is important. You first link each number to a word that rhymes with it. For example, number one could be “sun”, and two could be “blue”. To keep two things in order, you might tell a story with these rhyme-keys. If butter is first and cheese is second, then you could tell the following little story to remember: “The butter melts in the sun with the blue cheese.” 17. Visualize Engage as many senses as you can. Maybe you want to remember a battle for your European history class. Close your eyes and think about the sequence of events. What happened first? Imagine it. Imagine the sound the boats made as they raced toward the shore. What happened second? Imagine the sound of the cannons as they were fired. What happened third? Smell the smoke of a fire. Engage as many of your senses as you can. When you recall that first event, go through the same process until you’ve memorized it. 18. Story Lines Engage the narrative part of your brain. Create a story or dramatize one you already know. Maybe you need to remember a chemical reaction. Give the carbon and hydrogen a story! For example, tell the story of their breakup and new relationships. By making these mundane things into characters, you give yourself new things to remember about them—and maybe have a little fun doing it too. This method has saved students when they had to remember dozens of physics formulas! 19. Chunking Our working, or short-term, memories can only retain five to nine pieces of information at a time. To make the best use of this memory limitation, we can remember the same number of chunks of information instead. For example, as opposed to thinking of each digit of a phone number individually, we tend to think of them in groups. This turns a 10-digit number into three chunks, helping us to memorize it. This idea would help us remember eight numbers by thinking of them as two years. For example, 18421963 becomes 1842 and 1963 as opposed to 1-8-4-2-1-9-6-3. See how that works? Chunking is effective for short-term memorization. 20. Scent Yes, you read that right. Studies such as one conducted by Anne-Lise Saive, Jean-Pierre Royet, and Jane Plailly have shown that smells can evoke memories. These memories are typically more likely to be sensations or situations rather than specific facts (episodic memory). So, if you were to always chew mint gum in your biology class, while it may not help you directly to remember the chemical formula for glucose, it will evoke the memory of being in that classroom, which may in turn help you recall that formula. 21. Method of Loci This method is also known as the “mind palace.” Imagine you’re walking through your very own castle. You greet George Washington as you step into the foyer, and you greet Barack Obama as you step out of the back door after meeting each of the presidents in various locations in between. You remember the order of the rooms you walked through, and by mentally placing the presidents in those rooms by chronological order, you’ll visualize your way into an A on that presidential history quiz. 22. Image-Name Associations That girl who lives down the hall—maybe it’s Bess? You know you won’t remember her name alone, but you notice she has hair so long you wonder how she buttons her jeans. You now think of her as “Bess whose hair’s a mess,” and now you’ve associated a defining feature with her name, which will help you remember it. This could work in other situations as well, say, for a historical figure or world leaders on a political science test. 23. Chaining When you have a series or “chain” of things to memorize, you can utilize your visual memory despite having verbal ideas to remember. To do this, you can make up a story as silly or as realistic as you want to chain the unrelated ideas together. For example, three monkeys made a point of going in one roller coaster cart for four different rides. One of these rides was so busy they had five monkeys in one cart. This silly story helps you remember that the first several digits of pi are 3.1415 by chaining the numbers together. 24. Time It Right If you study before bed, your brain is better able to process that complicated information during sleep. Just know that this relies on you actually getting enough sleep to allow your brain to do its work. 25. Attach Emotion We often remember embarrassing or negative emotions more so than positive ones. So we remember those things we first got wrong in a study group more than the things we could teach others. If you make a mistake in a math technique, the frustration may cause you to remember that you must make the other choice next time. This won’t work for things like city names, but it will work if you know it’s an A or B situation. 26. Organize If you organize a list of names you must remember in alphabetical order, you’ll more easily notice that you skipped a name if you’ve jumped from A names to C names without the name starting with B you wrote the night before. 27. Get Moving Walking or other gentle exercise allows us to occupy the part of our brain that is idle during resting study. Because we can walk without conscious thought, we let our conscious mind focus more fully on the issue at hand. At the end of the day, no memorization technique can replace strong study habits. However, if you need a memory boost before that final exam or peer review, these tools should do the trick! Bring Back Date Night: Fun & Unusual Date Ideas on a Budget

Bring Back Date Night: Fun & Unusual Date Ideas on a Budget
When my husband and I were newly married, we didn’t have much money, but it didn’t matter because our favorite thing to do was just spend time together. Of course, life and kids happened and while it is wonderful, it does make it a little tougher to spend quality time alone.
We’ve been working on ways to rekindle that early dating spontaneity and find fun, creative, and even unusual date ideas to try (and not just on Valentine’s Day or other special occasions!).
Experts say that weekly date nights help couples have more intimate and lasting relationships. I’m lucky to have a romantic and adventurous husband (he’s Italian) who helps break the “dinner and a movie” routine and try new things.
Maybe one of these ideas will sound like something you’d like to try!
Date Nights: Then vs. Now
Pre-kids, when we wanted to go on a date, we would just go. Usually it was something free or very inexpensive because we were on such a tight budget, but even a walk at the park or a picnic was great.
As any parent of young children can probably appreciate, these days, going on a date is more of a ten-step process:
Decide to actually go on a date and have enough time to ask the other person if they want to go
Call 3-5 people until you finally find a babysitter
On day of date, pre-make food for whichever meal you’ll be missing at home so the kids are well fed (I don’t do this anymore since I found this shortcut)
If the date is at night, also pre-bathe children so the babysitter doesn’t have to
Remind kids to clean rooms, do chores, etc.
Find something to wear … if you’re an overachiever, maybe even put on makeup
Make list of all instructions and emergency contacts for babysitter
Finally make it out the door to go on the date
Almost fall asleep during dinner/movie/etc. because you have small children and aren’t used to staying awake after 9:30 PM
Come home to find all the kids are still awake, and drive babysitter home
This of course isn’t to say that it isn’t worth it to get out kid-free once in a while, but if staying in for a date is more practical, the good news is there are still ways to make it special (and without doing the same old thing).
Date Cost: Then vs. Now
The cost to go on a date has changed a lot too over the years!
It used to cost $0-$10 to go out with my husband because we would go for a walk or hike, or to a free event at a local outdoor theater. If we were really splurging, we would go to a bar for drinks, dinner, and a movie.
Now, a babysitter usually costs at least $40+ for an evening, a nice-ish dinner is easily $50+, and if we went to a movie that is another $22. $112 for a basic dinner and a movie seems like a lot, especially since it can be hard to find healthy, real food options and my husband prefers to watch movies at home.
Fun Date Ideas (At Home or Out!)
We decided long ago that we would make weekly date nights a priority, but also that many of these date nights would happen at home after the kids were in bed (cheaper, easier, and not a problem if we fall asleep by 10 PM).
Over the years, I’ve developed a list of some of our favorite at-home date ideas. We’ve found that even if we are just spending uninterrupted time together after the kids go to bed but are intentionally not on our phones or laptops, we have a great time and can rekindle some of that fun, quality time spontaneity and romance of our early dating and married years.
1. Massage (My Favorite)
The whole lots-of-babies-in-8-years has made me a big fan of getting a massage. Pregnancy, nursing, and now carrying around toddlers are a big demand on the body and every mom could use a good massage. Unfortunately, a good 60-minute massage can cost at least $80 in most locations.
While there are some great massage devices to use at home (this is my favorite), a much more romantic way is to try an at-home massage course.
This Melt Massage for Couples course is taught by a husband and wife team in a really easy-to-learn format. It’s the gift that keeps on giving, now that we both actually know how to give a good massage!
2. Sports (His Favorite)
You might think my husband would have to con me into this one, but watching a sporting event is one date night we both enjoy equally. We share favorite baseball and football teams and have weekly dates to watch games.
For big anniversaries or birthdays, I’ll try to work out getting actual tickets to a game so we can go together.
3. Chess
If you don’t already have a chessboard and set, you can pick up an inexpensive one and learn to play together. It’s fun and great for your mind, and also a great game to teach your kids!
4. Rekindle the Fire (Literally)
We built a fire pit in our backyard and some of our favorite at-home dates involve sitting by the fire, sipping wine, and just talking. Lights aren’t just for Christmas … hang a string or make these homemade tiki-torches to create a romantic and cozy backyard atmosphere.
5. Documentary Date
We enjoy watching documentaries together and often this leads to good conversation about a controversial topic. Some great documentaries that are available on Netflix or Amazon to stream online are:
Jiro Dreams of Sushi
Fed Up
The Business of Being Born (my fave, definitely not his)
Man on Wire
Microbirth (another one I liked)
Free Solo
There are literally hundreds of options depending on what type of documentaries you like.
6. Personality Quizzes
Sitting on the couch tonight? Try one of these free personality tests you can take online, either just for fun, or to learn something about each other:
7. Go for a Hike
These require a babysitter or leaving home unless you happen to live on a lot of land, but spending time outdoors and disconnected from technology is a great way to reconnect. Look up local parks and try a new spot you haven’t explored!
8. Watch a New Show
Not a groundbreaking date idea, but still relaxing and cheap! We don’t watch much TV, but over the years there have been a few series that we’ve really enjoyed and that gave us an excuse for regular date nights at home. We definitely pair this idea with a nice glass of our favorite wine.
9. Cook Together
Another activity that I probably enjoy more than my husband does, but cooking together can be a lot of fun, especially when trying new recipes (I might know where you can find some…) or cuisines. Pick a recipe to make together. If you have the time, pick a movie that corresponds to the cuisines and enjoy dinner and a movie. Make an Italian meal and watch an Italian movie together, or try your hand at sushi-making and watch Jiro Dreams of Sushi.
10. Breakfast Date
Dinner is the typical date meal, but no need to leave out the others! Breakfast is a healthier (and cheaper) meal to eat out. Head to a diner or local restaurant for an early morning date, and reserve the rest of the day for some good couple time. It can also be easier to get babysitters on a Saturday morning or let your kids play at a friend’s house.
11. Embark on an Adventure
This is my husband’s favorite type of date, and it fits well with our decision to stick to experiences instead of material gifts. I’ve enjoyed getting out of my comfort zone on some of our more adventurous dates. One memorable year we went scuba diving, but there are tons of possibilities! Visit an indoor rock climbing gym, go kayaking (another one of ours), race go-karts, try ice skating (not my favorite!), or if you are really brave … try karaoke!
12. Around the World at Home
This is a recurring date theme for us. Going out can be difficult with little ones, so plan a fun date themed around ethnic foods and enjoy it at home once the kids are in bed. Make your own sushi and eat on the floor. Make healthy Mexican food and watch a movie in Spanish. Make fondue and eat by candlelight. Whatever you choose, set the mood with music and decorations to make it fun! Even if you don’t go for ethnic foods, enjoy a late-night date at home and cook for each other! This is also a budget-friendly way to keep the romance alive.
13. Go Camping
This certainly isn’t for everyone, but it usually promises to be a bonding experience and is really healthy for you too. Always fun as a family, but if you can sneak away for a night, go camping as a couple. The alone time around the campfire will give you a chance to really catch up, and the potential for unforeseen circumstances (wild animals, rain, etc.) makes it an adventure.
14. Volunteer
This is a great way to get closer as a couple. Once we tried it, I wished we’d started right away as a newly married couple. Focus on a cause you both believe in and volunteer together. This is something great to do with kids too. Volunteer at a soup kitchen, raise money for a cause, or pick a service project at your church. It might make you grateful for what you have and will certainly be some quality time with your love! Another advantage … spreading the love doesn’t cost a thing!
15. Visit a Local Attraction
We often forget about the things that others come to our town to see. Go to a play at the community theater or check out the comedy club. Find an arboretum or botanical garden and walk around. Hit the batting cages or mini golf or even just browse the bookstore together and talk over a cup of coffee. If it is in season, visit an orchard or pick-your-own farm or take a tour of a local brewery or vineyard.
16. Exercise or Do an Activity Together
Exercise can be fun as a couple! Pick a new sport to learn: tennis, racquetball, basketball, or swimming… just pick something you enjoy. For an activity, go miniature golfing, paint pottery together, take dance or painting lessons, or go bike riding or canoeing. These are often the best times to talk and you get the chance to develop a new hobby or skill.
17. Paint Each Other’s Portrait
Feel a little funny staring into each other’s eyes? Painting a portrait is the perfect excuse! Reconnect in an unusual way by reviving or learning a new skill. Lots of laughs will be had, I promise! It’s ok to just have fun with it, but I also recommend an online class from Udemy if you really want to learn some new skills.
18. Just Do Nothing!
Seriously … all parents know it’s harder than it sounds! Once the kids are in bed (and repeatedly threatened asked to return to bed), choose to de-stress by ignoring everything else that needs to be done. (Ignore electronics, too… hide them if you have to!)
Dim the lights, light some beeswax candles, turn on some relaxing music, and just hang out together. Talk, sleep, cuddle, laugh… just like the old days!
Most Importantly: Turn Date Ideas into Reality
Making time to spend as a couple can be much more challenging than it should be, especially with kids. Make the decision to make your relationship a priority. Take the time to brainstorm new date ideas and make them happen… no need to wait for a time like Valentine’s Day to have an excuse to spend time together!
What was your best (or worst) date ever? Would you try any of the date ideas above?

alright, well today was pretty good. I woke up some time before my alarm went off and decided I was gonna be lazy and not go to church (which I could do because I hadn’t officially signed up for the babies room, I was just gonna show up because I can do that now) and sleep because I’m still adjusting to this 7 am 5 days a week thing, okay? I’m working on it. So I slept till like noon instead, which felt good. Upon waking up, predictably I messaged Jess and asked if she wanted to get breakfast, she said yes (mainly because she wanted coffee) and we met up 20 minutes later. It’s been like 2 weeks since we’ve been to the breakfast place that we used to be going like, 2-3 times a week to lol so it was nice to go back. they were having a special today for chocolate chip banana bread french toast (as opposed to their normal banana bread french toast, which is a frequent choice of mine) so of course I got that and then made Jess eat the eggs that came with it (because I’m kinda on an anti-egg kick at the moment, no idea why, body just does this sometimes), which combined with her omelet brought her up to 7 eggs, so at least she’ll be good on protein for the week (you think I kid). After we finished we stayed and talked for a bit before coming back to my place. Since we were recently reminded that The Gifted season 2 premiere was coming up this week and we are newly founded Emma Dumont fans after meeting her at HVFF Chicago in April and her seriously being the nicest celebrity I’ve ever had an encounter with and just honestly being so invested in her fans and caring about them (I was there for a friend to get them a surprise birthday gift, and she spent a solid 10 minutes talking to us, writing out a full page letter on the back of the autographed picture, and recorded a 40 second video when all we paid for was an autograph and a photo, but she did the rest out of the kindness of her heart) and honestly it was so refreshing that it turned us into big fans of hers, so in order to be properly prepared we wanted to rewatch season 1 because I at least admittedly was sometimes distracted while watching it the first time (it happens). So we watched the first episode and got into the second when one of my podcast friends messaged me and asked if I could do a Skype call with him because he was doing a test run of the live broadcast site for a live show he’s doing tomorrow night, so we did that and talked to him for like an hour because it was entertaining out of the two of us, and we were very amused knowing that there was at least 1 stranger listening but none of it would ever be published, so we could get away with saying certain things we might not have said publicly lol. so we did that fro a while, and after we wanted to see what we could do with the DC Universe site being that that just launched, I was trying to figure out how to get it onto my tv, in the same way netflix and amazon prime video and hulu are as like “apps” available to open when the blu ray player is turned on, but so far haven’t been able to do that. But being that I have a spare laptop (the baby chromebook) and a HDMI cable we brought it up on there and hooked it up to the HDMI which was being stubborn (probably because a kitty tried to bite it) but after unplugging it and plugging each end back in it finally worked, lol. We didn’t know what to watch out of what they had so we ended up watching the first few episodes of the first season of Young Justice. this show is so funny. the first episode it’s so hilarious to see all of them acting so rebellious and stubborn when they’re just like “we’re just gonna go and blow up this building!!!!” and like, it’s just so funny. And then of course when M’Gann shows up and they’re all like, SO mean to her and I just want to yell at all of them lol but thankfully they learned rather quickly. So that was fun to watch. I had mentioned at some point that I wanted cheese curds and there’s one place we’ve gone to that does them really good even though they give me hellish acid reflux (which I am now paying for) so we decided to go grab dinner there, got the cheese curds and fuck they were so good, and I got their shepherd’s pie like last time, which I previously hadn’t had other than my mother making it when I was growing up. I was always fairly indifferent to the dish until at some point I realized if you add some shredded cheese and then just mix it all together it turns into this mass of cheesy meaty potato goodness and is basically the best thing ever, and this place’s version comes with melted cheese across the top, so of course it’s very good. I did however seemingly get full a lot faster this time than last so I ended up eating less of it, but I did enjoy what I did eat of it. We were pretty stuffed (no room for dessert) so we left and Jess went home, and of course I went back to my apartment. I didn’t really have anything pressing I needed to accomplish so I grabbed my laptop and turned on more episodes of the good cop. it really is a very funny and clever show, Josh Groban as the lead is perfectly hilarious, as is the actor who plays his father. Idk how much it can be considered “cop propaganda” when the father is literally a former corrupt cop who went to prison, but I’m enjoying it at least. So I basically just watched that while I went through a bunch of different buzzfeed articles/lists and figured out a few more cosplay items to get. At this point I should be good on everything for NYCC except brown boots for Squirrel Girl, which I’ll probably wait to get until the brown romper I got for her comes so they can match properly, and I don’t really like buying shoes/boots off the internet because there can be obvious issues with them fitting and I don’t really have a whole lot of time left since the con is in two weeks now, so I’ll probably end up finding them somewhere locally (probably either Target or DSW) so that shouldn’t be a big deal, and as long as they’re moderately attractive I can use them in my normal life too, so that’s good lol. But yeah, after that I decided to start getting ready for bed. I’m gonna have to get up really early tomorrow because I’m going to a “mandatory arbitration” which starts at 8:30 (as opposed to our normal 9:00 am court call) but I’m also supposed to sit in on the witness “prep” for it which takes place some time before that and I texted the lawyer I’m supposed to be with to see what time to get there but she didn’t respond, so I’m just gonna pull my timeline an hour back so I’d be aiming for a 8 am there and ready call time as opposed to 9 am, which means I have to get up at 6 am which I am not crazy about given that it’s already 12:24 am but I’ll survive. Should be interesting to see at least. And yeah, that’s about it. Good weekend, successful in finding cosplay stuff at least so we’ll be at least somewhat prepared for NYCC lol because it’s coming up very soon. Should be a good week. Alright, I’m done now. Goodnight loves. Hope your Monday doesn’t suck.
