the inquisitor (especially when taking the stoic dialogue options) has always been someone who terminally "puts on a brave face", so the one (1) interaction we get with him and dorian in veilguard is like. so unbelievably in character.

dorian, who knows his amatus HAS pulled this bullshit in the past. the inquisitor, who has had character growth over the last eight years and now, like dorian, allows himself to be honest and vulnerable.

even the voice acting in veilguard sells it. dorian has noticeable worry in his voice. this is something that has lived in his mind for the past eight years, and is something he will desperately try to prevent from happening again. and the voice acting for the inquisitor too! in inquisition, any claims of being fine always felt forced or unconvincing. but here? yes, he is actually fine this time. no brave faces. he promises.

I think the Majorwood shippers have something going actually. There's just something in a relationship between someone who has only known love and someone who has only known war.

Scott is always happy, always loved, always surrounded by people who care for him, Jimmy, Pearl, Cleo. Yes he's been hurt for his love, but it pushes him to cherish every fleeting moment.

Martyn is always at war, always caught in conflict. He's been a soldier, he's been abandoned, he's been heartbroken. People are always leaving his life, Ren, the southerners, Cleo, he's always left alone. It makes him bitter and spiteful.

And so to pair Scott and Martyn together is significant. It's like Ares and Aphrodite, war and love.

They both burn with a passion

Similar but not the same.

They both care too much. And it hurts. It hurts but what else can you do?

"Everytime I love, I get hurt" Martyn tells Scott.

And Scott nods, "I love a lot too. It does hurt."

"How do you do it? How do you keep loving knowing it might hurt again?"

Scott takes a pensive moment before answering... "Because." He says, "The thought that I might never love, or be loved, ever again? It is far more terrifying than the fear of being hurt again."

Martyn grips the red and white flag he carries around his waist. A banner to a kingdom long fallen. "What if I can't move on though? What if it just keeps hurting and hurting and never goes away?"

"It will." Scott promises, "one day the pain and anger will ease" He hugs his jacket closer to him, thinking of those pale slashes that cover his back. Matching scars he shares with Pearl.

One day the betrayal and abandonment ceased to ache. One day he did move on. He would help Martyn move on too.

Anyway, I think they would be good for each other. I think they could fix each other.

Meet my current Inquisitor: Yrja Lavellan.

This is my Second solavellan playthrough, and because I tried to postpone the crestwood scene as much as possible i’m literally a level 28 during ‘what pride has wrought’ Lollll. Coryphasswhatshisname is getting ended in one punch once I finish the final quests before Trespasser .

I’m making (some) opposite choices compared to my first playthough. Aka I used the American voice, sided with the Templars, didn’t drink from the well of Sorrows, Solas removed her vallaslin and she’s going to hunt her ex husband down. Solas ya bettter be prepared. This girl is gonna age like a fine wine, with notes of bitterness, heartbreak and revenge.

Sidenote, I’m seriously loving the lighting in the Decent DLC. The screenshot I used as a reference is [shefs’ kiss].
