Chapter 16: Sister?

Tao huffed, ears lowering as he looked up from the letter in his hands up at the path infront of him. He was making his way to Mondstat. He received a letter from Kaeya, asking him to come to Mondstat as he had someone he wanted him to meet. Hopefully it was someone important, as he was taking time away from spending time with his partners.

Tao hurried to the bridge that connected to the main land, smiling once he saw Kaeya. "Ah Tao, thank you for coming! Sorry for such short notice but I do think it's worth it." He said. Tao nodded, curiously looking at the pair of boots next to Kaeya. "And you'll need to wear these, since we're heading to Dragonspine." Tao gulped, glancing at the large snowy mountain. He hated cold weather and even more hated shoes, but he trusted Kaeya. Tao reluctantly put on the boots, an uncomfortable shiver running through his body. Kaeya guided him to Dragonspine, holding a conversation.

As they arrived, Kaeya lent Tao his cape who gratefully wore it and snuggled into the fur. As they progressed further into Dragonspine, the more confused and cold Tao got. Luckily it didn't take too long for Kaeya to lead him to a cave where a blonde haired man worked away at an alchemist table. He curiously looked over when he heard footsteps, smiling when seeing Kaeya. "I see you've actually brought him. Tao, right?" The man asked. Tao nodded, bowing respectfully. "Call me Albedo, it's nice to meet you."

The three conversed for awhile, Tao learning the person he was to meet was not Albedo and infact his assistant that was out gathering flowers. She wouldn't be long, Albedo said. And that he was right. The girl in question arrived shortly after, nervously looking away from Tao. She wasn't too fond of strangers. She handed Albedo the small bag she carried, filled with the flowers he requested.

"Sucrose, I'd like you to meet him." Kaeya introduced the two. They both awkwardly exchanged hellos, Tao avoiding eye contact. Sucrose curiously looked him over. He had the same eyes as hers, and ears as well. There was something about him that felt..familiar. "Have we met before?" She asked. Tao shook his head. "No..I don't recognize you." He responded. Albedo got up, going to one of the bookshelves and pulling out a large book. He carried it over and flipped it open to a page that held a picture. "Sucrose, you recognize this picture right?" He held it up, showing Sucrose. Her eyes widened, grabbing the picture and looking at Tao. He held a confused look, not understanding what was happening.

"What is your name?" She asked. "Tao." He responded. Sucrose's eyes widened, tears welling in her eyes. "T-Tao..you..you actually are alive.." She whispered. Tao furrowed his brows, even more confused. "Do you know me?" He asked. Sucrose nodded quickly, holding up the picture to show Tao. He looked it over, eyes widening upon seeing a familiar face. His mother. "You're my brother..mother took you away before she gave birth. Father tried to look for you, wanting you to not have to deal with her..but he never found you. He assumed you ended up dead.." She explained. Tao looked over the photo as tears streamed down his face, looking at his father. The man looked incredibly kind and sweet, nothing like mother described the man as. "Was father a good man? Mother said he wasn't..she said he was a bad abusive man." Sucrose frowned. "She's a liar..father was more than a good man. He was a wonderful father, even after mother left and it was just him and I. He never got to meet you, and he desperately did. He tried to get uncle to find you aswell, but it never worked.."

"Uncle?" Tao asked. Sucrose nodded. "Uncle Baizhu, he lives in Liyue." Tao's eyes widened, freezing up. Baizhu was his uncle?! The man he occasionally delivered boxes of herbs to?! "Was mother atleast good to you? Is she okay now?" Sucrose asked, pulling Tao out of his thoughts. He frowned and looked away. "No. She wasn't good. She abandoned me in Inazuma when I was 7. I went to Liyue and found a family that loves me..I don't know where mother is now.." He said. Sucrose nodded with a frown.

"When she left me and father, I heard her yelling she only wanted one child. Father tried to work things out but he never seemed to be able to do enough for her. She isn't a loving or affectionate woman." Sucrose frowned more. "When father died, he told me he wished he could meet you. He said that he hoped I would get to meet you, and to never trust mother again if I ever found her." Tao looked at his sister, wiping away at his own tears. "I-I'm sorry for my rambling I-" Sucrose let out a surprised squeak as Tao hugged her, crying as he held her tightly. "It's o-okay..it's..it's nice finally meeting you.." He said. "It's nice to finally meet you too." Sucrose said, hugging him back tightly.

I know I'm not posting Genshin at all here, but I'm happy with this so I wanted to share <3

With Natlan’s release, I found myself quite liking the new region. Though most of the designs for the female characters bothered me so I wanted to try it myself and here we are now!

This is Suyai, the healer of the Scions of the Canopy tribe. She’s a birdkeeper too and takes care of them and other animals she comes across. If you need any advice for healing or medicine, she’s your person.

Chapter 10: I'm sorry

It had been months since Liyue almost drowned and was lost to the ocean. Most civilians had gone back to their regular routine and life, all but few. One was Tao.

The young man was currently in his room, getting ready for a long walk to the mountains. The land his now ex partner tried to ruin. Tao had rarely left the house, only doing it when he was forced out or was asked by his father for help. He now was practically always in his room, shielded from the world. Now, he made the decision to leave for a few hours. In nature instead of in public, which he always preferred. He disliked the way passerbys would always stare at him. Animals never did, animals would always mind their business or peak an interest in Tao, in a good way.

Tao hurried out the house, not having to tell his father or sister he was leaving as they both were also out of the house. He wore a long cape that had a hood, so people he might pass on the walk to his favorite lookout spot wouldn't know who he was. He just wanted to be alone, in nature, relaxed. Instead of cooped up in his cold and quiet room.

Taking shortcuts he'd learned over the years, Tao soon arrived atop his favorite mountain. He looked down at the view of Liyue, able to see Dragonspine and could see the islands of Inazuma. He laid out the blanket he brought, laying down and letting out a comfortable sigh. The way the almost setting sun shined its light on his face, causing him to feel comfortably warm. He loved it.

Tao was able to stay in his relaxed and unbothered state for a few hours, the moon now risen and stars painting the sky. He was snapped out of his calming thoughts when he heard a leaf crunch, opening his eyes and looking in the direction of the sound, expecting to see a small animal. Instead he saw the man he dreaded seeing the most, the man that caused him so much pain. It was Tartaglia. The harbinger was frozen in place, staring at Tao with wide eyes. He didn't expect to see him there. Tao quickly scrambled to get up, trying to stuff the blanket he laid on into his bag. He had to get away from Childe. They were all alone, he could hurt him and get away with it.

"T-tao please wait-!" Childe said, approaching the timid male. Tao's head snapped back when the harbinger reached for his hand, eyes filled with worry and anxiety. Childe frowned and took a step back, giving him space. "Please..listen to me..for just five minutes- then you can leave and never hear me again.." Childe hurriedly said. He finally had the chance to pour out his heart. For months he could only watch Tao from afar, and even then he couldn't. Zhongli had asked Xiao to keep an eye on the harbinger, if he got within a certain distance then Xiao was to step in and warn Childe. Although he luckily didn't have to do that, keeping in mind both Tao's sister and father would probably kill him if they found out he tried to speak or even touch Tao.

Tao quickly stood and faced Childe, a few feet of distance between them. He stayed quiet, curious to know what Childe was going to say. Was he going to lie? Was he going to yell at Tao? Was he going to kill him?

"Archons where do I begin.." Childe mumbled out, "I'm sorry- I'm so so sorry Tao. I didn't mean to hurt you. I know I did, and I hate myself everyday for it. I've cried so much just because I know how horrible I've been to you. You deserve so much better than I. I didn't mean to hurt you or your family. I wasn't thinking correctly- I- I-.." He let out a shaky breath, running a hand through his unkept hair. "I'm so incredibly sorry. You're a gift from the archons, one who deserves happiness and love for the rest of your life. You've been through so much already..and I'm sorry I put you through more.. Tao, I love you so much. More than anything. I would give up my life for you, to make sure you're safe and happy." Childe finished his long rant, tears streaming down his face. He looked at Tao who had also been crying. Oh how he hated seeing Tao cry. Even more he was the reason he was crying.

"Are you telling the truth?" Tao asked in an almost silent voice, though was easily heard with how quiet the area was. Childe took a step forward and nodded. "Yes- yes tao I'm telling you the truth..you don't have to believe me I just-" He stopped his rambling when Tao rushed to hug him, crying into his shoulder. Childe immediately embraced him tightly, crying with him. Tao didn't care if Childe was going to hurt him again. In the moment all he wanted was his love again. He just wanted Childe back. And now he had him. "I believe you.." Tao whispered.
