All the questions lol
Phew, okay, I can do this lol. Thank you for the ask, I'm so excited to answer everything hehe.
Character Name(s): Nyx Vale | Senryo Yatsugiri | Cocobi Cobibi | Micah Anderfels | Penelope Vale
Data Center: Aether, Adamantoise.
Favorite Class: Tie between white mage & sage. Love my healers
Favorite Expansion: Endwalker, then shadowbringers. I have a slight obsession with the Ascians.
Favorite Scion: G'raha Tia and Alisaie
Current Glam:
Favorite Dye: Dalamud Red
Biggest Accomplishment: Completed the savage for the first DT trial with my FC. I was super proud.
Favorite Song: What Angel Wakes Me & Papaya
Best Zone: Elpis, hands-down.
Favorite City-State: Does Foundation count? If not, probs Gridania
Best Dungeon: Vanaspati or Vanguard. Love them both for very different reasons lol
Crafting or Gathering: Gathering, it's so much easier ;o;
Favorite Raid: Any of the Nier ones were great. I like the one where you can get hit by buildings and trains lol
Best Memory: Going into Elpis for the first time and getting the beginning cutscene. I was just so excited.
Favorite Primal: Bismarck. Him deserved better.
Which patch did I start in: 6.2: Buried Memories. I remember the guy who wanted me to start playing showing off the Fell Court of Troia.
Current FC: The Rising Chorus.
Favorite Villain: I guess Emet-Selch counts. But if not, Hermes.
Favorite Limit Break: Reaper, though pictomancer's LB3 is super cool.
Starting Class: White mage. Stuck with her all the way to DT and we will go on.
AFK Spot: The yard of my FC. We have nice benches and the kiddie pool.
How Much Gil do I have: 3,711,497. I sold a orchestral roll for like 3mil a few weeks ago.
Do I Raid the Current Tier: Yessir
Favorite Minion: The Gold Whisker, Clockwork Solus, and Sewer Skink
Favorite Mount: Island Alligator and Model O
Favorite Relic: The manderville ones are so pretty
Which class would I want to see added next: I'm not up-to-date on lore, so I have no opinion. Though I was told their are a lot of colors of mages like black mage, red mage, and white mage. Maybe another color??
One Feature/Content I'd want added to the game: I'm happy the way FFXIV is rn tbh.

8: Top 5 Songs (good luck)
It's the hardest one, whee! I could do a top 5 for basically any category you care to name (top five dungeon themes, top five city-state themes, top five boss themes, etc). I'm gonna do some snap judgments, but I suspect the thing that's going to bring them to mind ahead of things that I might prefer strictly on their musical merits is the context in which they were used. Which means there is some major recency bias going on here, I do not apologize for that. These are also in no particular order.
#1: With Hearts Aligned
Listen, I am a french horn player. So when I'm a tank main who just got to do her favorite thing, a tank LB3, and I'm now at the emotional climax of a fight, which is at the emotional climax of the expansion, which is at the emotional climax of the entire fuckin' game I've been playing for years, and I hear french horns kicking in with the theme that's always used to represent us, I'm going to love it forever and ever and ever.
(I have joked that Endwalker was designed for me, specifically, and shit like that is why.)
#2: Who Brings Shadow
No, not Shadowbringers itself (although I love that too, obviously). I picked this version specifically because the point it kicks in, during the MSQ, is fucking perfect. It might be the most perfect music cue in the game.
#3: Mortal Instants
I'm making myself only use two ShB songs, and this is my second one. Everyone else in the world would pick To the Edge, and they should, but I decided to pick a track I don't see people appreciate very often. I love how melancholy it is, and it fits what's happening - a story being told by a survivor trying to get you to understand the scale and horror of the loss - just about perfectly. And the other time it's used, it's a similar situation, someone trying to explain their pain and loss to you.
#4: Nobility Sleeps
This is totally a nostalgia pick for me. I have spent so many hours in Ishgard. So, so many hours. All of its themes have drilled their way very, very deep into my brain. But this one in particular will, when I am 85 years old, still take me back there instantly when I hear it.
#5: Dynamis
I have a love-hate relationship with this song. It's very pretty. But it makes me tear up virtually every fucking time it's used, and that is rude.
Thank you for the ask! This was hard for sure. And now I'm going to hit post before I second guess myself into an entirely different set of answers!
#ffxiv#ask and i will answer#seriously this was difficult even with me promising myself#that my snap judgments#by which i mean 'songs i thought of first in a positive way'#were final#here's a hot take for the road though#song I don't like that everyone else seems to love: Dragonsong

My favorite random moment to happen in all of the game was doing Seat of Sacrifice when it was still fresh on Lust, a Red Mage. You know, a technically squishy caster job? And Elidibus does his LB4 shenanigan that wipes the party if the tank does use their LB3. Well everyone died but somehow, Lust still survived with like...25% health left and I can’t explain how to this day.

How about Xiang Yu?
Favorite thing about them: He's somehow the most normal one of the Lb3 gang
Least favorite thing about them: His kit is as dull and flavorless as fcking Morgan's
Favorite line: "Your future...is my first and final prayer."
brOTP: Cu Alter or Red Hare
OTP: Gee I wonder.
nOTP: Literally anyone who isn't Yu Mei Ren
Random Headcanon: He's a berserker cause the throne is 'scared' of him and actively needs to restrict his futuresight with madness enahncement which he doesnt have in game because something something incredibly sexist game design
Unpopular Opinion: Most of his story arc is pretty contrived. Not deal breakingly so, but too much so to ignore.
Favorite image of them: This one by tefco
Song I associate with them (the reason i did this challenge)

Coming out of tumblr retirement for this lol
here's my official opinion as a person who owns an Elemental Archfiends t-shirt (and not like a general ff4 shirt that happens to have the archfiends on it, i mean like a shirt of the archfiends specifically)
-- Scarmiglione is my favorite and I'm extremely into the new design. i like the purple color and the weird vaguely simian skull face. could have been grosser but also he can't actually be undead-undead for lore reasons so perhaps not an unexpected change. maybe he can come to the Source and possess a corpse for a while, as a treat (for me). Also his backstory was the most inspired. I liked that he was a real piece of shit and not even in like a badass way.
-- Barbariccia is the least interesting fiend design and i think this is pretty much a straight upgrade across the board. It's not pictured in this image set but I thought her lair being shattered bits of ruin lashed together with gigantic mats of hair was low-key kind of disgusting. Replacing the whirlwind with her just wrapping herself up in hair and punching the shit out of you was also a good choice. It's less wind-themed but who cares.
-- Cagnazzo is my least favorite, which sucks because FF4 Cagnazzo is very close to Scarmiglione in my heart. In FF4 he kills and replaces Cecil's adopted dad so I was hoping for some shapeshifting/doppelganger fuckery in 14 and that didn't happen. More importantly, the 14 version doesn't look like a horrible fucked up little freak. Huge step in the wrong direction. I liked his accent though.
-- Rubicante is fine. I think he had the least changes. I have never liked his color scheme but it looks okay here. I don't think his body should have been visible at all until he opened his cloak in phase 2 of the trial, but I do appreciate that he was basically just fully nude under there. The question finally answered. Huge props for getting Hyadain to arrange the song but I have to knock a few points off for not having Rubicante use the healer LB3 on the party mid fight. Missed opportunity.
-- Golbez is in Dissidia so he's had a high poly 3D model for a while, and 14 Golbez does not deviate from that much, which is fine. I liked that they played up the appearance of having a single eye, and as someone who has spent a lot of time writing fanfiction and such about video game characters who don't even have enough dialog to fill one side of an index card, I deeply appreciate the fact that they built a whole plot arc around Golbez's shadow dragon that appears in FF4 for a grand total of maybe 45 seconds. Also when I got to the trial I actually laughed out loud, like "Oh my god after 30 years Golbez finally has a sword", and then that actually turned out to be a plot point, which was quite frankly delightful.
That said I think Durante should have been more naked.
Tune in next time (?) for my thoughts on whether or not the boss "Damcyan Antlion" indicates the presence of an alternate universe evil version of Edward from FF4 (yes. the answer is yes)
Scarmiglione, Archfiend of Earth
Barbariccia, Archfiend of Wind
Cagnazzo, Archfiend of Water
Rubicante, Archfiend of Fire
Golbez, Knight in Black (Durante)

You make Fgo sound like the most interesting and yet the most infuriating game possible. How many writers work for this game again? Are they allowed to just put... whatever??
Pretty much. Uh, the answer is too many. There’s three main ones: Sakurai (so. So much exposition. So boring. Always picks at least one major character to annoy the shit out of me), Nasu (OG creator. Hit or miss. VERY miss and VeRY hit sometimes), and Higashide (My beloved. My right hand man. Arm. My silly rabbit) (ok he’s not perfect but he’s solidly good, slightly less sexist usually than the others, and he really knows how to do a finale). They do a ton of guest writers too though. Like, LB3, my most behated, was a guest. Same for events and side story. Uhhh I’m sure someone has to say ‘ok’ but I also just don’t think Nasu or whoever else is at the head monitors that much. Truly don’t know what the rules are beyond Not Enough, as evidenced by Columbus, LB3, and the Prisma Illya event alone.
The problem with fate go is…it pingpongs. Between genuinely the best writing and stories and moments and characters you get in any phone game, and executable level offenses to modern ethics and storytelling, to echo my favorite fgo comment I’ve ever read. I can’t honestly say FGO is good. It’s enjoyable, many arcs, and some arcs are good, but it’s… It’s a lava lamp of constantly shifting quality and ideology. You get what you get: the game isn’t just a gacha, the damn writing’s an rng.

Hope I'm not too late for this! 001 Fate/
Never too late to talk about this juggernaut series that's taken over my life!
Favorite character: ELIZABETH BATHORY, MY IDOL, MY SWEETHEART! I have tons, tons, TONS of other favorites but I'll limit myself to my other 9 top Servants: Beni-Enma, Oda Nobunaga, Medusa, Medea, Passionlip, Abigail Williams, Ivan the Terrible, Murasaki Shikibu, and Van Gogh.
Least Favorite character: This one's a roulette wheel, and it depends on the day, but I'm not a huge fan of Kiritsugu Emiya, Kirei Kotomine, Atalanta, Semiramis, Kama, Archimedes, and UBW Gilgamesh.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Me/Liz (plz I'm sorry I just love her a lot), Medea/Souichirou, Shirou/Sakura, Astolfo/Hacka Doll 3, Murasaki/Hans Christian Anderson
Character I find most attractive: LIZ, followed closely by Nobu, Medusa, Medea, Lip, and Murasaki (this list is ALSO very extensive)
Character I would marry: See above.
Character I would be best friends with: Most of my favorites, but most especially Astolfo, Ibaraki Douji, Jing Ke, and Mysterious Heroine X Alter - we'd just hang around, binge anime, and eat snacks all day.
a random thought: With the global server shut-downs of the Madoka and Overlord mobile games, I realized just how absolutely DEVASTATING it's going to be if - when - I hear FGO will be shutting down. I try not to think about it, but I seriously might cry when that day comes.
An unpopular opinion: Zero is overrated, the first half of Apocrypha is actually really fun, Sieg isn't the worst character in the whole franchise, LB3 sucks, Extella 1 is really good - that should fill my contrarian quota for the day.
my canon OTP: Medea/Souichirou (they are so FREAKIN' cute)
Non-canon OTP: Me/Liz (god please I wish it was canon...)
most badass character: In terms of sheer badassery - Demon King Nobunaga, Ivan the Terrible, Leonidas, Lancelot (as a Berserker), and Hercules top the list for me. They're all absolutely SICK.
pairing I am not a fan of: Sieg/Jeanne will always be a little weak - also please god don't ship Gil with Saber. Just... don't.
character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Avicebron from Apocrypha - his design is great and he's a GOLEM maker, but his betrayal gives me extreme whiplash and makes me sad.
favorite friendship: Shirou and Saber, Sakura and Medusa, Astolfo and Sieg, Abigail and Lavinia, Nitocris and Scheherazade - Fate's got a lotta of BFF pairs and they're all warm and cozy.
character I want to adopt or be adopted by: Abigail, Van Gogh, and Jack the Ripper are under my "Evil Daughters Who Aren't So Bad" protection list. Minamoto no Raikou, though... please adopt me, big purple mom.
#fate#fgo#fate/grand order#fandom asks#can you tell I'm too obsessed with this franchise#particularly the mobile game that takes my money?

Your favorite (currently available) job
For as long as i have played this game, i have played BRD. From super moblie LB3 - Raising machine, to a charged turret in HW, and then to a mobile music cannon in SB, i’m looking forward to what comes for it in the new expansion!
Ranged classes have always been my favourite regardless of game, and this is certainly no different!

so yes im still in heavensward. no msq progression because i am still in the 5 stages of grief. so in my mad materia grind i have somehow ended up with a meaningless grand company rank. bottom 200 sounds more likely than top 200 yet here i am.
oh the other thing. i tried pugilist super early i think it was between the 2nd to 4th job i tried and i gave up immediately because it was too made for me, someone who has never played an mmo and doesn’t play action games. but anyways since i’ve been playing all jobs (oh yeah got to level cap (60) is all jobs except blu) i picked up monk. and my rotation is minimize movement at the cost of dps because i refuse to move that much and yet i still consistently am doing the most damage in the party. also ive found that i love love love the animations for monk. i essentially have 3 rotations (9 total) on monk, aoe, flank, and back.
oh i might as well say how i liked all the classes since im at level cap. the astrologian quest line is probably my favorite in the game. too bad i dont understand how to play the class and have mostly given up. i do love the aesthetic. i understand why people are screaming over the dark knight quests but i didn’t love them they were ok but i was just tired of the whole thing. i dont like the aesthetic but i do like playing it since in dungeons i only have to press 1 button for aoe. i’ve actually been playing a lot of machinist this week. kind of busy but it doesnt punish me who is pressing the wrong button constantly. not sure how other people are doing it but during the burst phase im looking at my hotbar for like 10sec and often get hit. black mage. hw added a bunch of stuff and now once again i dont know my rotation. i keep dropping enochan too TT^TT. bards is weird because you have like 10 buttons to press at the same time at the beginning and then you spend the rest of the time pressing 1 button. summoner has this tight 30 sec cycle i keep messing up, pretty busy. i do it for carbuncle. white mage. i still dont know how to heal and ive given up trying. did you know you can run dungeons without ever casting a single healing spell. all i know is to press holy, a lot like dark knight in that way, one button. theres like 6 turquoise colored buttons and i dont know what any of them do. scholar is still great for pve. i keep dying doing alexandrite maps on other classes like machinist but never on scholar. i dont know what the ideal rotation is, but monk has some of the best animations so i just keep pressing buttons to see my character breakdance. dragoon does get an aoe until 40 lol. burst damage window of like 20 and then you are back to the 123. i still dont know the ninja ninjitsu stuff but im getting by on fire, lightning, and the buff. the warrior aoe is annoying because one is a cone and the other is a circle. paladin: hw added healing? so many buttons. also i’ll be honest i’ve been playing a lot of ranged dps because the aiming gear looks the best on aurele
I accidentally progressed “the greatest story never told”. what.
I really wish this game let me look straight up. *me grabbing yoshi-p by his collar and shaking* LET ME GO STAR GAZING LET ME LOOK AT THE CEILING
saw a healer lb3 for the first time

Unpopular opinion but I really didn’t care much for LB3.
Most of the characters could have been switched out and the only reason Xiang Yu and Jing Ke aren’t able to be is because of Consort Yu and Qin Shu Huang being chosen but even then they could have been switched. Yu is just nasuverse wank that was applied to a random woman and Qin Shi Huang could have been any tyrannical emperor in China which there is no shortage of.
Red Hare and Chen Gong did literally nothing the whole time and Mordred I felt was chosen to be a popular face but there’s plenty of other rebels in the Throne. Spartacus, I don’t care much for, but he is legit the only character that was interesting and fun in this list belt besides Jing Ke for me. And it’s cause of their interactions with the villagers. I thought this lostbelt was great up until our march to the capital and that’s mainly due to me loving character interactions to develop them (heck America is my favorite singularity because of exactly that).
Now the plot was fine and I did appreciate what Urobuchi’s point of the lostbelt was and I agree on why it was awful for people. The execution was great, just it was all plot and not a lot of substance besides Qin Shi Huang who just felt like an arrogant idiot to me since he preaches constantly about how super cool mega awesome sauce his world is but is so blind to literally everything and Consort Yu...that in itself is a whole bag of obnoxious. “You can’t understand her pain of losing love,” “You can’t understand why she hates people so much,” “You can’t understand why...,” etc. We get it, we don’t understand the burden of immortality, literally something everyone who has read any book about it knows already cause it gets lectured to you. I get it sucks not being able to ever see your beloved again but when it is literally all fixed within a minute it cheapens her whole character which I don’t care for in the first place. She was only made this way to sneak true ancestors into the game which is pointless for a soon to be revealed reason and was only given that outfit to get saint quartz summons. Again, all stuff that could have gone to any number of random of Chinese figures, wouldn’t be the worst they’ve done to China. That said, still better than LB2 by a looooong shot.
#fgo spoiler#fate grand Order spoilers#and apparently I can’t add a read more insert#lovely#but yeah them treating characters I was excited about as throwaways suck#and the ones I never cared for like the greatest source of writing#but yeah the entire cast was replaceable imo besides Spartacus of all people

realtalk c/y/l time the f=h fandom becomes even more awful than usual. most of the arguments/posts/anything are even more grating and esp since this year is stanning the worst game in the franchise (and its awful characters). just like last yr its around the same time as a good and fun banner (the onsen one/tms collab) but this yr cams nee and eliwood arent here to bring some actual good shit to the situation.
honestly w the go popularity poll thing itll also be just as annoying. if they get idk.. eor chapters voted high enough to be adapted to an anime and then well have to sit through a year of the same art of the same three characters taking the spots of actual go characters that should get appearances in the collabs. and i know itll be some boring eor thing. at the least bad itll be lb3 or 4 (atlantis would be a potential too but its too recent i think). ideally id want it to be anastasia bc its my favorite lb chapter/favorite chapter in general but id probably faint if i saw animated sal
but unfortunately, i do feel like id be inclined to quit playing these games. if by any chance i can get an ipad or something in the future id like to keep it for games since theyre annoying and use up too much space on my phone. id still keep go on my phone tho bc i lov sal

Hexa is a great first LB3 choice! She's one of the early carries, she performs well in patrol which is the most crucial part of the game, can dish out enough damage both on pve bosses and pvp! some people build her up to 10* to later use her as food for their meta girls, some stick woth her all the way up for LB3, because it's really easy to get copies of her! Definitely one of my favorite early game girls 💞 She falls off hard in the late game though, due to her lack of cc and being way out damaged by other meta girls.
I cannot stress how much I love Hexa. I love how she deals a huge ton of damage on 2 opponents only targetting mostly the backline, unlike girls like Chevalier or Masamune who deals a certain amount of damage on all 4 backline girls. It allows the application of focused damage on multiple opponents.
Well, maybe until I have enough luck to get an Ithil she'll still be my all-time fav damage dealer( ˘ ³˘)♡ This girl has zero control skills though but we all have weaknesses don't we?

I know you've been rewriting servants and I'm pretty sure you've gotten plenty of asks just like this—but how would you rewrite your least fave stories of fgo? For starters mine would have to be Lostbelt 1 and I think of it as the Opus of Lostbelts with Olympus and Yuga (personal reasons) falling behind and Grand Order Temple of Time, Babylonia, and sometimes Camelot falling right behind—idk something about the battles being hard af and the story being a gut punch.
Actually, you're the first person to ask about ANYTHING rewrite based. Er, sorry though but just so I make sure I'm understanding, do you mean which would I rewrite and how, or which my picks for best are in terms of writing? Just a bit confused by what i presume being your list of favorites being back to back with that question.
JIC, i'll go ahead and list my favorites first for this. Keep in mind I've only just started Olympus and have only done the prologue for Salem
My favorite AND pick for best is Anastasia, no question. I consider it a case of everything coming together perfectly both as its own story and in terms of setting up part 2. That said, Atlantis is right behind it. Like, right behind it. Neck and neck. Depending on how you qualify things dead even, in fact. But unlike Anastasia I hate the overarching plotpoints of Atlantis (IE the fucking aliens) and I also feel like Anastasia achieved the same level of emotional impact with far less to work with (Atlantis clearly had a bigger budget than anything previously seen in FGO). Gameplay wise though Atlantis DOES take no. 1, no question for that as well.
After those two, it's another neck and neck between Yuga and SIN. The former is probably my preferred but it's hard to choose bc they're opposites of the same coin. SIN is very tightly focused and well written but Yuga has a lot more of both the good AND the bad. It's a matter of whether you'd like a story that is good but takes few risks and is consistently good the whole way through, or a story that takes a LOT of risks and the ones that pay off are great but the ones that don't pay off make it far less consistent in quality.
After that at no 5 is Solomon, though personally I think I had more fun with Shinjuku overall. Part of that however is probably because I binged straight from Babylonia to Solomon and paired with the exact same writing style and shorter length it makes for looking back on Solomon feel like it was moreso the final part of Babylonia rather than it's own thing. Regardless Babylonia is next. If we don't count the issues that were clearly out of Higashide's control, then I'd say Shinjuku is tied here quality wise. If we DO count those issues as part of Shinjuku, I'd put Babylonia above it and then have Shinjuku as the last of the story chapters that stick out in my mind as favorites.
So that's all to say quality wise I'd go:
LB1: Anastasia
LB5.1: Atlantis
LB3: SIN
LB4: Yuga Kurukshetra
FGO: Solomon
Whereas personal favorites I'd go:
LB1: Anastasia
LB5.1: Atlantis
PS1: Shinjuku
LB4: Yuga Kurukshetra or CH8: Babylonia
LB3: SIN
And lastly something I wanna make note of is that quality wise Sparrow Inn is probably the best written event I've seen (at least in terms of consistent quality) and is easily on par with one or two of the quality top 5, and Servantfes is hands down my favorite event and the impression it left with me is half the reason I've stuck with this game as long as I have, and I'd easily make that a "2.5" on the favorites list.
#feel free to shoot another ask about the rewrite thing anon#i've actually done something of the sort before - specifically for a chapter that is conspicuous in its absence here#fgo#positive fate post#never thought i'd get an ask#hooray for itemized lists#fate grand order

Long one... You would think spending your Birthday weekend working 4 back to back 11 hour shifts would be less than appealing... That couldn't be further from the truth in this case. I had the awesome opportunity to work with the company that has created the games I have hands down spent the most time playing. #Squareenix From FF7 back in 1997 which may have been my first RPG come to think of it - to my all time favorite MMOs #FFXI and FFXIV - Square has been delivering. I've worked shows before from SDCC, to NYCC, to Fan Expo, etc but working #PAX with the #FFXIV crew has been hands down the best experience. I often post about health/fitness and endurance events but this too is very much my element. I was at ground zero with the team from my favorite games interacting and helping provide great experiences for fellow fans. I have to also thank Bucco San and Ishikawa San for stepping in and clearing Byakko with us! I remember hearing behind us "Its good seeing staff who can actually play their own games". I suppose not everyone is fortunate enough to have their booths staffed that way. Bonus - I got to LB3 the finish with my DRG! The weekend was a blast and as awesome as the games are it came down to the people. The fellow fans we were able to interact with and especially our awesome team. I've always been big on team synergy and this crew had that and then some. We were there with you all cheering on your team's as you attempted to clear. Even stepping in with a "move I got this!" for some inexperienced gamers scouring for the LB3 I'll be seeing you all sooner than later and most definitely in game lol. Until the next party weekend folks. Stay healthy, stay nerdy. For Hearth!...and Home!
