okay I'm doing it fr now I'm gonna properly make that vid I've been wanting to make where I compile all of Shadow 2005 Eggman's personal thoughts/reaction dialogue with the action button and boss fight lines removed. I NEED more people to know how well characterized he is in this game it makes me so insane. his actual role in the plot aside that people say they don't like (even though I personally ADORE it too, him being murdered aside), he's captured really well

I learned so much about him from it and how he acts more "casually" when he's not trying to kill you and his mindset and thoughts on random stuff that's super interesting to me. so much funny and charming stuff in there too. there's just hardly any other game that gives a more personal look into him like that, aside from the SA2 journal entries and Egg Memos and I fuckin love it

He was your loyal, attentive knight. You had been childhood friends, ever since you saved him after sneaking out of the palace walls. Since then, he had been training so one day, he could take care of you.

At first, he saw you as what you were, the princess he was meant to serve. You were intelligent, beautiful, and most importantly you were kind. Your people loved you, and you loved them.

And you loved him too, a fact you would share daily throughout your childhoods. When he started training to be a knight at the young age of 10, you were always there to bandage him up and let him lay his head in your lap after a tough day. You were both children, but he clung to you like a child would his mother. He was often scolded by the maids and senior knights for his clingy behavior. You were the princess and he was getting too old to be staying so close.

He would be a teenager soon, which meant the days of childhood innocence and days of fun spent with his princess would be over. Once she turned 13, she wouldn’t be able to interact with any males besides her personal knight.

He worked his way up the chain, seeing you in secret when he could manage. You missed him, and as the years passed by his innocent, platonic love was starting to shift into something more… lustful. He caught himself staring when you bent over to pick up your fallen books, his eyes following your plump hips as you walked away.

No, he couldn’t see you that way. It was against his code of conduct, his knightly duty was to protect you and your innocence so that you could find a suitable husband one day and bear an heir to the throne.

But at knight, when he laid along in his chambers, he would stroke his hardened cock to the thought of filling you with his seed, claiming you both body and soul. It was a nasty, sinful thought he had to keep to himself, he knew that.

It was hard though, when you were just so tempting.

Duncan.

When it comes to Duncan, there are three things I've been wanting to discuss for some time now. Duncan's personality, his storyline and his feelings towards both Courtney and Gwen. A lot of my thoughts will be based on his behavior in different seasons of the show, and some of them will be just my headcanons (but trust me, they'll be reasonable too). I know that TD is after all more like a comedy show, in which things that in real life we would consider bad/disturbing/impossible/off-putting/sad are simply funny to us when we watch it, because of the way they are presented. They are supposed to make us laugh, so we usually do, with or without any second thoughts. But I'm from that type of people who likes to analyze everything and everyone, even if it's just a penguin from one infamous movie. I don't care. I just love doing it.

When I watched Total Drama for the first time, which happened not so long ago actually, because when I was a kid, my parents didn't allow me watch most of the modern animation (It's a long story, and it doesn't really matter right now). I mentioned this fact because it's important for me to let you know, that I don't like any characters because of the pure nostalgia, since I never watched TD before. I started this show when I already had my own opinions and knowledge about how to share them. So when I say that I like a character, there's no doubt that I perfectly understand their flaws, bad character traits, and I like this character not because I'm wearing my pink glasses and I refuse to take them off, not wanting to stop admiring my favorite character with the same passion, with which I used to admire them when I was small.

That's why when I say I really like Duncan, it definitely doesn't mean that I never criticize him and his doings. Actually, I think that's the reason why I'm interested in his persona so much. He is anything but perfect, and this is a big "YES" to me. My favorite characters are never simple, and I doubt that yours are. It's not necessary to associate yourself (kin) with your favs, but I like to believe that still, the main reason why we like some fictional guys is something that we might have in common with them. It can be buried deep inside of you, and it can take a long time filled with constant self-analysis and concentration to figure it out, but it's usually really entertaining, and can be actually worth it.

One of the things that i want to talk about, is Duncan's part of his personality which is, in my opinion, overlooked. Some people already mentioned it, and it's pretty obvious if you think about it. But here, on subreddit, I never saw anyone talking about it, which kinda disappointed me, because even though it's pretty obvious, it's still important.

Duncan is a typical attention attractor. Yeah, I know, it really is obvious. It's kinda mixed with his "lone wolf" status, but is still really notable. You can see his attempts at making everyone look at him when he bullies Harold or somebody else (which is a rare case), or when he's simply being a brat again. Sometimes he can say something controversial, even though I'm preatty sure he knows that he's gonna get his ass kicked right after that. Like when he mocks Chris's challenges, and then it's either Chris himself, or Chef, who makes him suffer for saying crap about their ideas. You have to be an idiot to not see it coming, and Duncan isn't dumb. He may act like a total jerk at times, but he can also be sneaky, unpredictable and surprisingly intelligent when he wants to. He is really lazy and tends to give up quickly when he can't do something well from the start, unlike Courtney, who will keep on trying and trying until it's over, even if her loss is inevitable. Duncan being an attention attractor perfectly explains his behavior in TDAS, making his storyline there just a little bit more understandable. This is why I never had any problems with him "losing his edge". Because if you think about it from this angle, he never really did. All of his problems in All Stars he created himself. The easiest way to brought people's attention to you is to be insufferable and mean all the time, and that's exactly what Duncan's been doing since the first episode. I'm not saying he isn't taking any pleasure in humiliating others, he does, but in some odd way, I'd say. I'll try to explain how I see this, but before I do it, I'd like to remind you that I don't justify his actions and I'm not trying to victimize him and make him look good. I'm just trying to understand the world from his perspective, the way he sees things and how he feels. Okay, let's get to it.

Duncan's probably really insecure about a lot of things in himself. An old story about a bully being actually weaker then everyone thought might be a cliché, but is actually works in real life. Now see, Duncan's not a psychopath. He is probably a sadist at some point, but there's no way he can be an actual psychopath, a person who lacks empathy towards other people around them. You only have to remember that "bunny" episode, and how willing Duncan was to make his friend feel better to realize how caring he can be when it comes to people that matter to him. When it comes to Harold, there were some episodes in which these two could get along pretty well. In Action Duncan continued to rip Harold off, but in the same season he admitted that he values Harold in some way, and then he even praised him (TDA, episode 11, 18:00 and 18:40). In Action Duncan also mentioned that he bullies Harold for making Courtney go home in a previous season, but I think it's a lie, or just an excuse for him to not stop on mocking him. Harold is like a fall guy for Duncan, someone who can't fight him back and that's why the easiest prey. If Duncan needs to prove something to himself, he will go and punch Harold, just to calm the rage inside of him. When Duncan feels weak, he can also just say something rude about him, or do something that will make Harold look stupid. And that way, he makes himself believe that he's fine, that he's safe, that no one will try to hurt him, as long as he is not as weak as Harold.

But in All Stars? There was no Harold in All Stars, which means no one to mock. Of course, there were some other weak contestants, like Cameron, but Harold was the safest option, the one that Duncan knew for a really long time. Perhaps bullying Harold became a habit for Duncan in latest seasons, even though in WT they didn't communicate a lot due to Duncan quitting the show. So in All Stars he doesn't have that one person he will be extremely rude to, making him behave differently from the beginning, not so harsh already. He doesn't notice it for some time. But then he starts to have problems with Gwen, acting all weird and not paying him attention. And Duncan hates not getting attention. He admitted it in the first episode of TDAS, when Courtney ignored him instead of glaring back. He stopped getting the attention he needed, and then he realised how much his behavior's changed since he came there, since both Gwen and Courtney ignored and avoided him. He started acting out in attempts to make them notice him, especially Courtney, since she almost didn't say a single word to him. Duncan likes challenges, he likes when a person he's interested in is hard to get. For him, trying to make Courtney jealous was like a new game, and eventually, he went too far, making Gwen feel like a pawn, like a tool for fixing Duncney. So no wonder she dumped him pretty fast.

And now let's talk about Duncan's fears. When Gwen broke up with him, instead of understanding his mistakes and realising that the reason they aren't together anymore is his own neglect and his annoying obsession with Courtney, he immediately thought that Gwen dumped him because he's not that cool anymore, because he lost his edge. And that says a lot about him and the way he sees himself. He thinks that him being a jerk to everyone is what makes him wanted and needed, that his loved ones will love him back as long as he's strong and intimidating. That's why when he's in search of a flaw, the first thing he noticed was his change from a total "bad guy" to something more complicated, (more interesting). Duncan freaks out. Like, really freaks out. That is the only explanation to his sudden need to cause trouble, to hurt someone. He feels like he can't play the role he has been playing for his whole life, like he just can't do that anymore for some reason, when actually the most of it is just in his head. Ironically, he trapped himself in his own ball of fears and complexes, and then, because of being too afraid that everyone will notice, he starded being too obvious about it, and everyone actually noticed. While others (most of them) seemed to like his new soft and open personality, Duncan was sure that everyone secretly judges and is making fun of him. Probably with Chris mocking him all the time he just became a walking self-disappointment, thinking most of the time about how to prove that he's still strong and free. (And "free" is an important word, and we will get back to it later) That's why it doesn't matter how stupid the idea of blowing up Chris's cottage (mantion) was, it was crazy enough to seem worthy to Duncan. Just because this would be "bad" enough.

Only he miscalculated. Being so not okay with his own change made him think that everybody else isn't okay with it either. That the reason he gets hurt by others is because he isn't him anymore, and that probably makes him feel useless. He can't live his normal life when people think "wrong" of him. Duncan has so many things he wants to prove to everybody, but no one really cares about his change, and that's what Duncan's not able to understand. When the cottage is gone, Duncan is sent to prison. Was it worth it? No. Did he make everyone "respect" and "like" him again? No, he made the situation only worse. In the end, he did all of that for nothing.

I said that we were gonna come back to this "freedom" thing? Well, there's not much to discuss, I guess a lot of other users said that before me, (it goes with everything in this post, tbh) but Duncan wants to be free SO bad, that I can't imagine it being just his another act, his punk little duty. Remember how often he uses those "Hey, don't tell me what to do!" phrases? Remember how he absolutely hates being commanded? (Unless it's Courtney) And that's not just a normal thing, no, it's a huge trigger for him. He gets defensive so fast when somebody's trying to put him down. (Heather calling him "pretty boy" in TDA, episode 3 13:55) Moments like this just show how fragile and sensitive he truly is. But from where could these problems be? The most obvious answer would be his relationship with his parents. We do know that Duncan's parents are not so proud of his life, and that's not surprising at all. But that old short video with them (Duncan's parents asking him to win the money) is what makes me feel like there's more than just dissatisfaction between this family. Don't get me wrong, I think his father loves him very much, and I'm not gonna make a monster out of him for being mad at Duncan and his criminal tendencies, it's a normal thing to be mad at. But I might assume that he is a strict person, who tells people what to do on a daily basis (He's a cop after all). Of course, a lot of Duncan's impulsive decisions that he's made are easily explained by his wish to rebel, to show his father that he can't just decide for him. I mean, Duncan wasn't always a delinquent, right? I'm sure he was always weirdly loud and wayward, but his father had to push him really hard if after that his son became a criminal. But it doesn't mean that Duncan isn't brutal without his want to stand out. It doesn't mean that if his father was more lenient with him he'd behave better. Perhaps it would be only for the worst, because then Duncan wouldn't have any limits. It's just how it is and that's all. His relationship with his mother is less understandable, but I'll tell you my theory anyway. It's canon that Duncan has a lot of relatives, including siblings. (we don't know the exact number) Here's what I think: having many siblings means sharing your parent's attention. Duncan grew up dealing with the fact that sometimes he has to wait before he can get his mother to listen to him, because she's busy with the other kids. (I just assume Duncan's not the youngest, but even if he is, that doesn't change a lot) I don't think that he holds a grudge on his siblings, but I do think that he might be offended on his parents (maybe without even realizing it). So to sum up: Duncan feels like he never gets his mother's attention and thinks that the only way he can get it - is to do something big and loud, something that will MAKE her notice him. On the other hand, his father makes him feel like he owns him. Like someone is trying to take over him, make him something he isn't. That's why his crimes aren't only his attempt at making his mother more concerned of him, but also a sign to his controlling dad, that by screaming and punishing him he won't make Duncan someone else. Duncan will be himself, even if it means that his dad will be disappointed.

And the last but not the least, Duncan and his feeling towards Courtney and Gwen. There's no need to repeat how toxic both of these relationships turned out, because you have to be blind to not notice that. The main question for me is about him loving them. Did he really? Sometimes we forget that these people are teens, they were only 16 when the show started, so relationships weren't supposed to be a serious thing for them. And Duncan wasn't ready for someone as serious as Courtney for sure. Of course, he liked her appearance, her body. He liked some of her character traits, like her being extremely bossy to everyone. But he only liked her complex character in times when they weren't together, and when her anger wasn't directed at him (just check out TDA, he doesn't like it when she's treating him like an employee). It seems like she was just another challenge for him, another thing to achieve. But what happened after he got her to himself? When they were back together again, he got tired of her pretty easily, and even though they had their moments, her being constantly jealous and mad is what made him lost his interest in her. It made him stop having a crush at her. But being in love with her? It's a whole other thing. Again, they were teens. And from what I know, Duncan and Courtney had been dating for no longer than a year (While being on set of TDI and TDA, and then for some months before TDWT), and Gwuncan probably didn't last longer. The most promising couple from the show, which actually has a future was Geoff and Bridgette, since both of them are mentally stable people who can actually help each other out. Love is a really strong feeling which actually comes with time, whether you like it or not (please don't try to bring up that "love from first sight" thing), and both Gwencan and Duncney didn't have that time to truly connect. Shame. Still, my personal favourite was Gwencan, since those guys were just better for each other. Instead of trying to change Duncan, Gwen understood him and liked him the way he was. If only AS didn't happen they might've been the best couple in the show for me! Fresh TV completely messed up Gwen's priorities in All Stars. In WT she's sad that her friendship with Courtney is over, but she mostly glad that now she doesn't have to hide anything and can be with the guy she likes without any secrets! Then, in the end of WT Gwen doesn't care abouth her at all, and THEN, in AS she's suddenly obsessed with Courtney forgiving her, and AT THE SAME TIME she keeps defending herself, explaining why she didn't steal anyone. If you think that you didn't do anything wrong, then why are you sorry? For what? It was such a pain to watch Gwuncan die like this. Especially when they just made her stop liking Duncan immediately after AS started. It was like these two never happened and she didn't have that crush on him for some time (she already liked him after TDA ended). But I don't hate Duncney. It was also really entertaining and I liked them at first. They could've been a perfect example of two difficult people getting better together, helping each other overcome their weaknesses. Them being different might've been the best thing about their duo! The problem was... Courtney. And her lack of character development in the next seasons after TDI. Duncney's perfect climax should've been Courtney losing the season and not winning the money but not caring so much already, because Duncan helped her become more laid back and not so impulsive and demanding. Fair? Maybe not. Healthy? Healthier then if she actually wins the money and just lives in that mad state forever, until she dies.

I guess I'm out of thoughts. For now...

callum deserves his aaron dingle moment

Here's the thing I'm looking forward to a ballum reunion. Admittedly I have some fears about it, but for the most part I don't care. Ben finally gets to go home. Callum gets his family back. I'm perfectly fine with the reunion also being lowkey. I think after everything something small and quiet and soft would be really nice. I don't need a special episode, but the one thing I think the show needs to do have callum show some self-awareness and this is where emmerdale comes into it.

I love the big robron reunion episode. I love everything at the club, Robert getting to say that Aaron really hurt him by leaving and have those feelings be treated as valid, and I love a good monologue. I don't think ballum needs all these things. But one of the moments that I really love in the ed episode, and i think ee could learn from, is when Aaron took accountability for his actions, both before and during the break up. I mean I was near cheering when I saw that. Because just like with ballum that break up was ultimately the fault of both characters. And I don't just love it because of the reunion, I love it as a moment of growth. Aaron recognises that he can't just blame Robert or Rebecca for the break down of his marriage. It's him being reflective and working to be better. It is a massive character moment irrespective of the relationship and callum deserves that too.

Because like Callum, Aaron fully scapegoated Robert during their break up. Everything was Robert's fault even though, pre-Rebecca especially, Aaron's behavior directly contribute to their relationship falling apart. He attacked a dude and ended up in prison and still wholly blamed Robert for that. It got to the point where it was frustrating to watch. It didn't mean I didn't like the character or didn't find his actions understandable, that's the tragedy of that era. But even after the break up, as time went on, I found Aaron to be cruel at times and that's with the knowledge that Robert did actually cheat. I mean I love the final scene of christmas 2017, genuinely my fav ed scene, but part of me just cringes when Aaron does his 'i am moving on and that might not be with alex but at least it won't be with you' bit, cause its kicking a man when he was already down.

I think its slightly worse for Callum, because his martial failures are simultanously way more noticable (i mean going get over your ptsd or i'll divorce, or ignoring ben breakdown over the poster -yelling im scared while hitting yourself in the head are not the behaviors of someone who is well- are just horrible things to do, and if it was any other character but especially ben there would be ten thousand think pieces about how it's emotionally abusive) but seemingly forgotten about, and personally that's spoiling things a little for me. Like with today's line about I know when you're struggling, part of me was like 'aw that's lovely' and then the part was bitterly going 'do you now Callum, cause I distinctly remember the several months when you either didn't notice or didn't care.' And that is pre-Lewis. Selfishly, just a line were Callum accepts some fault would just make me enjoy things a bit more.

I like callum, I really do, but when ee leans in to this saint callum thing all it does is piss me off, cause guess what this year callum has treated ben way worse then ben treated callum. And by not acknowledging that they're doing a massive disservice to the character. The reason he can feel flat at times isn't because he's treated like just ben's husband, it's because he's treated like he's without sin, even when he is clearly in the wrong. It's a soap opera. Characters are sinful. Characters in soaps are messy and make mistakes and struggle, but they also work to be better, and that's starts with taking accountability. That's what makes them meaningful. All it takes is just one line where he goes 'hey I was wrong too, but I'll try be better.' Let callum have his aaron dingle moment, he deserves it.

The choreo, the innocence being taken away and being shown the real world, the religious undertones, it all leads my mind back to him. The Mighty First Born, the Morningstar, Lucifer.

I also remembered the part where Hobi shot an arrow and the camera pans to Tae with paint splattered on his reflection, it reminded me of an angel shooting down Lilith’s wings and eventually killing her because of it

To me, BST represents the idea of losing your innocence and seeing the world for what it is, seeing the bigger picture in general. It represents the ideas of maturing in this day and age and what the boys have learned in their journey to find and love themselves.

From what I’ve heard and seen, BST is based a lot on the book “Demian” by Hermann Hesse and even Namjoon quoted it in the MV.

The ideas presented in Demian were heavily based from the ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche, who was a german philosopher and a cultural critic at the time

Go Go is definitely a big fit for this demon!

A beat that makes you wanna dance, the outfits for the performances, the message when you carefully read the lyrics, it reads Mammon all over it!

When reading the lyrics, it seemed like they were promoting a YOLO type lifestyle. Not caring about money, not caring about future consequences BECAUSE of spending a lot of money

But when I thought about it more, they’re just being sarcastic when talking about these lyrics

The boys would never promote that type of lifestyle since they’ve never really been those types of people + i’m sure they’re FULLY aware of the consequences of that type of spending

Not only that but the tone with which they’re singing and rapping in are playful and imo you can see that they’re being pretty sarcastic about it

Once again, the sarcastic lyrics and tone remind me a lot of Mammon and his behavior around money

He doesn’t care about money and is careless with it, gambling most nights and spending his money in order to get priceless jewels, expensive cars, or anything of the sort

This comes from the sin he was cursed with, Greed.

I’ve read the lyrics before and I personally interpret them as him knowing that he has a lot of moments where he hates himself. But he also has his moments where he does love himself, but he still has that doubt

He doubts his abilities and is afraid that the only happiness he can find is in a cup. Joon thinks that he has no purpose in this world and just wants to learn how to love himself and the life he has

This reminds me so much of Levi because he has both hate and love for himself in a way. Him hating on himself is what we mostly see of Levi a lot, him saying that he’s a “yucky otaku” or a “horrible, stinky shut in”.

But I also personally think he at least has some pride over his extensive knowledge on anime and video games

I also feel like Levi at one point in time (maybe a few centuries or decades after their fall) felt like he had no purpose anymore. He was a demon now, something that is hated on by most of mankind and something to be afraid of.

no worries, I'll take headcanon requests anytime! I don't particularly have trans hcs for characters since it's not an experience I personally relate to/have thorough knowledge about other than my trans friendos but I don't mind giving it a try!

I think he's super trans positive obvs but for the longest time he wasn't necessarily that kind to himself. He's often the bearer of burdens and feels the need for self punishment so I feel like he would struggle with such a concept that he can change himself and feel better about it. A man who struggles to self practice what he preaches in a sense, self doubt and all that

he's also prolly super ignorant of things. Like, doesn't know the meaning of terms or the nuances of it all. Not necessarily a bad thing of course, just when he's talking to other people about it he'll sound confused or get things wrong with the best intentions of course. He was raised very simply and I highly doubt Kazama was a fountain of knowledge for him. I would think he'd support Kiryu cuz that's his fav boy but outside of that he's like aight do whatever you gotta do kiddo, anyway keep beating up people with stop signs

Kiryu leans heavily into masculine behaviors and idealisms since his whole worldview has been brought up by these tough, manly yakuza dudes that he at one point idolized and that's just how he thinks men should be. So he becomes overly stoic, flatly emotional and strong. Values fights and muscles and manly shit like gut punching. Maybe it takes him a long time to realize things aren't so black and white but it makes it hard for him to open up and express himself. He's terrified of people finding out in such a hypermasculine community so he's easy to clam up and treat things with his fists over conversation unless proven otherwise

Nishiki would totally be the supportive best bro, helping him with confidence and day to day living n all that. Lil stuff that makes Kiryu feel normalized and cozy. Kiryu can be one for exaggeration but he likes to take things slow and feel like he's just another person. Nishiki could definitely keep things light hearted

because I can't NOT mention Majima in 99% of what I do, he would be super supportive of Kiryu. He treats everything so casually that Kiryu is actually taken off guard many times, not used to someone who doesn't really give a damn about how someone lives their life. It's comforting to know someone as wack ass as Majima would be outright accepting and very likely violently protective 

Haruka! I think at some point he'd have to explain everything to her - after like, really educating himself without fumbling over words or terminology and ends up doing that anyway but she gets the gist. Frankly she prolly understands more than he does and she helps him out, being really forthcoming and accepting. He's her dad in the end and that makes him happy. This also makes him pretty familiar with feminine issues n things so that’s a unique perspective for her growing up

I think he’d be really proud of that facial hair he has. He keeps it nice n groomed and was quite happy when it first came in. Same goes for his body. He likes to keep toned in that masculine way he wants to be. He probably was a lil unsure about things when he first started transitioning but Nishiki could have been there to help out and really encourage him

I hope this was good! I can't speak for the trans experience personally so I had a lil help from some of my pals. I like to talk about feelings and acceptance which really resonates with me so I hope I got that across

( ˊᵕˋ)/ whenever people ask me why I like a character, I always have a hard time answering because it’s usually a natural pull toward them. I wish I could write essays on my favorite characters but I can’t. I suck at this kind of stuff.

So…Clavis and Sariel have been my favorites since the day the game was announced. Simply just by looking at their designs and what little description they had, I was like “Them. I like them.” 9 times out of 10, my initial picks remain my favorites forever. Their voice actors were a big plus too, even with what little spoken dialogue’s actually in Cybird games. 

So yeah, the initial reason was pretty superficial. I liked their designs and descriptions, along with Nokto’s and Chevalier’s, the most. And I ended up with two workaholics that hate each other. But out of everyone, Clavis always felt like “the one”.

I guess, in an attempt to expand on this...

Clavis

On the surface, a lovable troll, tease, and pervert. And I love all of that about him.

I guess he’s a happy virus. Clavis has never failed to make me smile and laugh with all of his antics. This bastard has also almost made me cry a few times too with his words and thoughts. I was in the middle of a rough time when Ikepri came out (and I’m sure a lot of people were given the year), and his trolling and teasing in Chevalier’s route was such a joy. 2 years later and he’s still brought a lot of happiness to my life. He’s like the extroverted friend that’s adopted introverted me.

I admire what was once learning about everything and anything to be better than Chevalier has become utilizing this knowledge for his pranks, his work, and for the benefit of other people, how he works tirelessly to help others, how much he enjoys life, and how he’s always able to come off as someone with an overflowing amount of self-confidence despite his actual low self-esteem. And I love that he grows comfortable enough to begin to expose himself to Emma (it’s a slow process but he’s working on it). Because I want all of that 🤣 I could go on about my life story and how Clavis is the opposite of me—minus the low-self esteem and constantly being compared to others—but I’ll save everyone the trouble and not do that.

This man’s continuing to grow, doing his best to let go of his bad habits and I am here for it. And the way he’s a gentleman to the point of blue balls-ing self.

While I wouldn’t want to deal with a person like that irl, how he throws everything out the window when he gets jealous is just hilarious to me. Like “I want Emma to struggle and learn. I won’t coddle her.” *Emma seeks advice from Keith* “Yeah, no. Emma can come to me for advice whenever she wants”

Sariel

While Clavis is this whirlwind that sweeps you off on an adventure during the day, Sariel feels like someone you can retreat to afterward. A mysterious, yet comforting presence I guess?

Also I’m gonna be real here...I am weak to glasses wearing characters, especially the “cool” types. And he’s voiced by Hayami Show. Plus he’s a sadist and a tease with an unexpected mischievous side that always catches me off guard. But he can also be really soft and sweet, a side he only shows to Emma.  And the amount of patience and self-control this man has... His entire being is for my self-indulgence. 

Anyway...I love the way he is with the princes...How hard he tried to get along with the princes when he was assigned as their tutors. And now he’s drinking buddies with Jin and Leon, and the latter’s confidant. He’s never been scared of Chevalier at all and has this understanding of his behavior. I think he was the twins’ first friend and though things have changed since they were 10, having known them for so their whole lives, he can easily see through them. Regrettably being Clavis’ enabler yet sometimes he can’t help but feel proud. 

And him telling Emma (paraphrasing here) about taking care of what you’re passionate about so that even in times of chaos, you a place you can still retreat to and be yourself really struck me.

Ikr??!! Ayato is so pretty. I really like him, and like, yes the fanart was pretty, but it wasnt Super likely that that is what he would have looked like anyway.

Also weirdo's on twitter have started to try and say ayato is gay bcus of his outfit??? From what I understood they tried to say that the long sleeves are generally worn by unwed-women and so are to attract men, but others have said thats not the only time those are worn and were also often worn by noble men, so like, idk

I feel like the fanart was basically just male Ayaka tbh. This feels like his own person and someone who is related to her and not just male Ayaka. But from what we had, I wont deny that the art was amazing and the theories other faceless wonder were great.

Also I doubt he's gay because of his outfit. But his outfit is designed the way it is because of his high rank and nobility in Inazuma. Long sleeves and layers were symbols of that from my understanding, not just ways women used to attract men. His style is mixed from two distinct periods of Japan where those sleeves are common, with the nobles. I can't remember which ones tho. I know it's the one where Japan became more "westernized" and that was in the 18th century (I think)

But those people are usually shippers/fujoshis tbh. Mihoyo has a large male fan base on the Asia servers, but a largely female one on the Western ones. I think that's why they also made Thoma just a servant and not Ayakas fiancee, because people get weirdly obsessive and jealous if their fictional fav is taken 💀

And they are fictional characters. You're MEANT to simp for them. That's why they don't have ages/sexualities that are canon. So you can self insert and love your fav without judgment or actual canon to get in the way. The whole age debate is pointless as much as a sexuality one, because they want you to spend money on your favs for the reasons above. Is that right? In my opinion, no. Because then you have the pedos simping for "lollis" when they are kids and shit like that. Like I look at Klee/Diona/Qiqi/Sayu and don't see "young women" I see kids. Babies.

But that gets into the whole "does fiction affect reality" debate and that's a rant/long post for another day.

But I doubt they'd make a canonical gay male character due to censorship and with how big the game is it will be under close inspection. Honokai got away with this (from my personal belief and reasoning) because it's WLW and it's a heavily fetishized relationship and misogyny knows no bounds. Also WLW is treated differently than MLM because of this and the fact that people refuse to believe that women can only like women... that lesbians can be "fixed" while male homosexuality is more "dirty" and stuff. Again it ties to misogyny, homophobia, masculinity, and stuff like that.

Then again I have limited knowledge on how China works culturally and with censorship, but I don't doubt it's for these types of reasons and more. :/ both gay and lesbian relationships deserved to have rep and be shown as normal and natural, but with homophobia being rampant and how ingrained it is in society (to the point it impacts relationships that are platonic/familial, like no, you're not gay for wanting affection from a friend of the same sex. You're human, you want comfort and vulnerability, it's normal.) I doubt it's something you can fix so easily.

I am disappointed in some of the fandom. They have harassed and sent threats to some shippers who shipped Yae and Ayato because... of the color pallette. Like it's obviously a crack ship that won't gain attraction. Because you know, Ayato is gay and Miko is a lesbian, so let's send death threats over a fictional relationship with no impact on reality 💀

Idk this fandom is full of terminally online behavior. Like it's not that deep. It's a game. Please just let people ship weird pairs on colors or hairstyles if they want. It has no bearing on the Canon storyline. It's not that deep. It's a gacha game that wants your money and is run by a multimillion-dollar company. Learn sanity.

The Fool - How deluded is this yandere when it comes to their darling? Are they self aware on any level?

His fears don’t come from an unfounded place. Being Don of Passione puts you in danger merely for being associated with him, Giorno well aware of the fact. When he tells you he’s protecting you he means it, frustrating as it may be. That doesn’t mean he prides himself in cutting you off from others, it hurts to know you’re lonely when he’s not around.  

The Emperor - How much of their darling’s life does this yandere dictate/want to dictate?

Giorno feels that he doesn’t take more than he has to. There’s a lot of things you’re able to do, plenty of rooms set aside filled with equipment for your hobbies. The catch is that you’re either with him, or with no one at all. Other than keeping you in a certain, secure area, you’re allowed to do as you please as long as it won’t harm you. It’d make him feel better knowing you have some level of autonomy. 

Strength - How outwardly passionate is this yandere around their darling?

At first, he came off as impersonal to you. Giorno gave you space and allowed you to come to terms with your situation, not imposing himself upon you other than checking in. You can feel how he cares for you in his actions more than his words. From the way your room is decorated with your favorite flowers, to how you fall asleep in the study only to wake up tucked carefully into bed. Eventually he’ll grow more comfortable with you, sprinkling in words of heartfelt affection. 

The Hanged Man - Is controlling their darling important? Or do they want their darling to love them willingly?

It’s natural that he does want you to return his love, but he’s patient and cunning. Giorno will give you small pushes, but never outright forces you to say or do anything for him. It’ll be much more gratifying when it comes from a genuine place. He’s not a pushover though -- if you’re being disagreeable, he’ll leave to cool off as not to aggravate the situation further.

The Tower - If this yandere saw their darling in danger, how would they respond/react?

It would require a lot of planning for anyone with nefarious intent to get close to you. The only plausible way is if they’re a Stand user. If Giorno is with you, he’ll take care of the person with detachment. Your safety is his first priority, any wounds you may have sustained being treated with GER. He’ll take this experience as validation for his concerns. Expressing to you later that this is why he has to protect you, once you’ve calmed down. 

Judgement - Would this yandere ever open up to their darling?

He wants to truly be himself with you, but these things take time. Giorno isn’t sure how to open himself up to you, and doesn’t want to reveal too much at once. It’s a vulnerable feeling, and he’ll only ever attempt it once you’re more accepting of your situation. With enough encouragement he’ll start to show more sides of himself to you.

The Magician - How would this yandere use their abilities/status on their darling?

Anything is at his disposal, given his position in the mafia. He prefers to lavish you in luxury rather than punish you. Gold Experience allows him to create an assortment of rare and beautiful flowers to impress you with. Giorno wants to have positive experiences with you, but given the nature of what he’s doing that isn’t always possible. If you were ever harmed in an attempt to escape, he might hold off on healing you as you know he can as a “lesson”. It hurts him to do so though.

The Hierophant - Could this darling’s yandere fool them easily? Or be manipulated by them?

Hah no way. Giorno wouldn’t have made it this far without being able to tell when a person is acting genuine or is lying. To make matters worse, he has already memorized most of your behavior. Any signs of lying will be picked up on with seamless grace. Whether or not he calls you out on it with a smile depends on what it is you’re lying about. If you’re trying to manipulate him, he might play along to get more information. Or if he feels he’s had enough, he’ll tell you outright with an unimpressed expression that he’s disappointed. 

The Hermit - Is this yandere more relaxed, or capable of being more relaxed?

When you’re acting as you should, Giorno is pleasant to be around. He listens to you, is attentive to your needs, and truly adores you above all else. He’ll even go along with most things you ask for, within reason. You mention a craving for a certain dessert lately? He happens to know one of the best chefs in Italy who’ll make it right away. One of your favorite books came out? You’re getting a signed copy. Be good to him and he’ll be good to you.

Death - Would this yandere ever kill their darling? If not, would this yandere “kill” undesirable traits of their darling?

Giorno would go to hell and back for you, he wouldn’t even entertain the thought of killing you. He’s lost so much in his life -- friends, family -- he couldn’t bear the thought of losing you on top of that. Everything he’s done has been to ensure your safety, after all. Unless you have a habit that’s extremely self destructive, he’ll let you be yourself. He fell in love for who you are. 

The Star - How would this yandere deal with their darling’s loved ones?

There are a few possibilities with this. He might introduce himself to your family at one point, dazzling them with his charisma in hopes of further cementing himself into your life. Giorno doesn’t have any sadistic desire to hurt people more than necessary, that extends to them as well. If you’ve been acting up for too long, he might dryly mention paying them a visit. That’s normally all it takes for you to quiet down. 

The World - Would this yandere ever give up on their darling?

Giorno is nothing is not determined. Once he has a goal he will accomplish it. It’s not a question of if, rather, a question of when. He’ll have a preference for less malicious methods, but he is a member of the mafia. Getting his hands dirty doesn’t make him flinch. It’s just that when it comes to you, he’d prefer to give you the option to give him before he goes to more extreme lengths.

The High Priestess - What expectations does this yandere have for their darling?

He wants you to be as you were before. Giorno expects the initial combative phase, but doesn’t want it to last forever. He’ll do anything to make you feel at home, so that you can be yourself around him once again. Expect lots of encouragement to return to your hobbies and previous interests, he wants you to thrive in your new environment. 

The Lovers - How would this yandere deal with their darling being in a relationship with someone else?

Unfortunate as it is, he will be mercilessness with his methods. It’s what comes to mind when you almost find yourself giving into his abundance of charm. How blatantly abhorrent he is with your former partner. It pains him to even give them that label. Expect a very mafia style death, of a set up accident or worse. It depends on his mood. It’ll be messy and cruel no matter how the orders are carried out to remove that obstacle. 

Wheel of Fortune - Would this yandere’s behavior stay the same over time? If not, why do they remain the same?

Growing closer to you will change how he acts, even if it’s only in the small things. He’ll be more open about his interests with you, taking pleasure in deep discussions about nature where he can showcase his knowledge. Before he could almost seem clinical at times, like every touch and word was calculated. He becomes more of himself once you accept him, less rough around the edges.

Temperance - What made this person yandere for their darling?

Your benevolence. In his life he has rarely been on the receiving side of it, the world dishing out tragedies to him one after the other. Your disposition is in stark contrast with the cruelties he’s witnessed. From giving people the benefit of the doubt, to actively going out of your way to assist your friends... it draws him in. He wants to both protect this rare part of you, and keep it all to himself. 

The Moon - Is this yandere sensitive to what their darling says or does? If not, why don’t they care?

It’d be hard to tell that your words upset him. With a watchful eye you’ll be able to pick up on the humanity that slips through his carefully crafted mask of indifference. Giorno’s hands shake, even if only the slightest bit when you detail your hatred for him. Beneath the surface is an abundance of hurt. Why is it so difficult for you to understand he’s made these hard decisions for your well being?

Family has never been a luxury he’s gotten to experience. He wrote off his parents at a young age due to their treatment of him. You presented a new opportunity to him, one of correcting the wrongs of the past with new beginnings. If you’d be willing, he’d love to have a family. Whether it be adoption or his own kin. Giorno would love to have a boy and a girl, spoiling them and giving all his love. 

The Chariot - What freedoms would this yandere allow, and take away?

Contact with anyone other than Giorno is taken away. There are staff and bodyguards where you live, but they’ve received special instruction not to speak to you (unless there’s an emergency). He doesn’t want to admit it to himself, but a dark part of him wants for you to depend solely upon him. He can provide you with anything, so he assumes it’s not like you need anyone else anyways. 

Justice - Does this yandere ever feel conflicted about what they’re doing?

While Giorno isn’t as relentless as the previous Don, to be in his position means to have a muddied moral compass. It hurts to see you crying and upset, it truly does, but he reminds himself of the greater picture. He’ll never feel seriously split over what he’s doing, resolve too firm to budge. It’ll be impossible to ever convince him to stop. 

The Devil - What taboo things would this yandere do to their darling?

Most times when you hurt yourself he’ll heal you up without any hesitation, hating the thought of you being in pain. It’s a different story if you injured yourself in an attempt to escape, or after you managed to escape. He’ll take care of anything life threatening, but other than that, you’re on your own. He’ll remind you with an icy gaze that this is what happens when you defy him, and his good intentions.

The Sun - When would this yandere feel content with their situation?

The day you wake up and return his affection wholeheartedly. He might be so ecstatic that it’ll bring him to tears honestly. Giorno will swear himself to you again, in a way remnant of wedding vows. He’ll dedicate every breath of the remainder of his life to making you happy, and protecting you, his most beloved.

Bristlefrost’s crush continues to feel unnatural to me. It’s like she’s grasping at straws romanticizing the most generic things.....wow....I love how ur just so...bare minimum competent....being polite to the loner we came all this way to ask for help like any somewhat reasonable person would....How admirable...I love the way you just *clenches fist* exhibit some basic traits of loyalty and skill that literally every warrior has (I s2g I’m this close to head canon-ing Bristle as a clueless aromantic who doesn't understand what romance is actually suppose to feel like so she just looks at feelings of low-bar admiration and assumes “oh I guess this is that “romantic attraction” everyone’s always talking about? guess I must be in love???” because both her crushes have felt out of nowhere and like. Idk fake/forced sounding like she’s just telling me that that she’s In Love Now while I continue to not actually feel it at all from her end. I know it’s just that I hate the way Erin’s write female characters in love but this head-canon makes me laugh)

Got scared because I thought they were going to villainize Spotfur for not wanting kits for a minute, but also excited at the concept of maybe exploring a female character that doesn’t want to be a mother, but it turns out she was just pulling a Sparkpelt and actually DID want the kits all along and was only hesitant because she’s sad. Shrug oh well.  (the only female character in warriors that was distinctly upset about pregnancy and motherhood was Lizardstripe and as we all know she was eeeeeevil and abusive and “overly ambitious” because why else would you not come around to being happy about motherhood?? YES I’M STILL SALTY ABOUT YELLOWFANG’S SECRET, BAD BOOK)  Whatever it’s fine so long as Spot doesn’t lose her rebel leader spirit forever and default to “soft mom” personality for the rest of her life, I gotta have hope because I actually like Bristle and Spot’s current relationship. Also I am actually very grateful they never made Bristle resentful at Spot for getting with her crush, as lots of middle grade/YA media has a very bad habit of demonizing female romantic “competition” and its super gross, so I rly do like that Bristlefrost is so protective and caring towards her instead. )

This series is trying to tell me that Rootspring is actually Big but I refuse to accept that. he has dumb scrawny bitch energy and we all know it

Final Notes:

*On Mothwing, I don’t think her behavior struck me as “CHARACTER BUTCHERING” as much as it did for other people? I mean.....Warriors fans will say that literally any time a character does ANYTHING less then perfectly nice I think her actions just seemed that much harsher because we are reading from Shadowsight’s POV, and Shadowsight is taking everything 10x more personally right now (understandably so, but Mothwing isn’t inside his head) she wasn’t trying to hurt him. Also... like... Shadowsight DID get his name too early. It’s not Mothwing’s job to put his feelings above everything else, she’s not even his mentor, Puddleshine on the other hand, as his main mentor, I don’t understand what his deal is ignoring Shadowsight, that’s not how you help an apprentice but I suppose I chalk many of his mistakes up to also not being the most experienced medicine cat (he barely even had his own mentor.) Maybe he’s distant because he feels guilty and actually blames himself for not guiding Shadowsight better?? the two of them haven’t communicated about it yet so idk

 any way I give Mothwing a pass to be a little short tempered right now as a cat who has had her abilities periodically questioned all her life no matter how hard she works or how much experience she has, just because she doesn’t vibe with the spiritual cult side of the clans, I can understand why she’s a bit defensive of being questioned and frustrated watching so much hurt happen Yet Again due to reliance on StarClan visions over common sense, and I for one still stan her for slandering StarClan and refusing to accept Mistystar’s bullshit banishing like everyone else. Sometimes a character is at the end of their rope and can’t manage to be 100% nice 24/7 and that’s maybe not inherently bad writing? idk just my hot take. At a certain point we all gotta reckon with the fact that our perception of most popular supporting characters in heavily colored by fanon and we can’t always get mad at the authors for not adhering to it

*The sisters magic shit is my fav worldbuilding warriors has had in AGES, I love the way it’s described and it actually feels like it adds something to this world. I love this horror imagery with the ghosts, very excited for that.

I mean the trying to get Squilf thing, sure, whatever, but the “I will make everyone pay for what they did to me”???? cause like?? Who??? they didn’t do anything to him?? Ashfur’s grievance was very specifically JUST Squilf. He has no other cause for revenge, he had no other beef or complaints about the clans to my knowledge? The cat that killed him is dead, and she’s like, the only other one that I could see as having “wronged” him?? I guess he also didn’t like Firestar much according to Graystripe’s Vow (and on account of how willing he was to kill him w/ Hawkfrost) but Firestar is ALSO dead. I don’t understand his angle. Will have to see last 2 books to judge i suppose.

*All in all I am interested to see where this is going!! but also the pacing as I feared is becoming a major issue. It’s better then ending the main conflict on book 3 like Vision of Shadows did, but omg. Hardly anything happened in all these pages. I realized I was over half way through and nothing about the situation had actually CHANGED or advanced at all in all that time. Similar to the past 2 books which I believe could have been combined, this plot felt like it should have been the first half of a book. Discussing whether or not to kill the imposter isn’t much of a standalone plot, it’s just the set up to a plot. Finding the sisters didn’t need to be a whole long thing, the debates about the Imposters fate didn’t need to be repeated 10 times, all those chapters illustrating that “Shadowsight is sad” were also drawn out, repetitive, and interchangeable, we probably only needed 2 or so chapters showing his struggles to get the necessary information across. It felt like a lot of padding, it was really slow and I did a lot of skimming. I am still very interested in the overarching plot and mystery behind the ghosts so that kept me reading but man this “will they won’t they kill him” plot did not justify it’s own whole book. Alas this is a persisting issue that will never be resolved while they continue to force 6 books into 1 series that doesn’t need 6 books. I’m sure the writers are doing the best they can with these unfortunate constraints but still, it’s a wonder this slow padding isn’t more of a detriment to their younger readers that the books are supposed to be marketed to.

One last time did he glance around the hallway, confirming that no one saw the two of them as Shouta led her into the supply closet. The last thing he needed was someone starting rumors about the two teachers disappearing in between brooms and other school-related junk. He really had other things on his mind as that he could deal with that too.

“Hmm, I’m not sure,” she sighed from the inside, brushing her hands between the overload shelves while searching for the missing keys the two were searching. “He’s such a muddler sometimes. He also forgets his car keys at home a lot.” Chuckling to herself, she didn’t mind Shouta’s presence as he slipped into the already small room, letting the door fall into its lock behind them. “I’m really not surprised Sekijiro would lose his keys somewhere around the school too, even if they are really important. Hopefully, no student picks them up and uses them for something bad- oh, Aizawa-sensei, please turn on the light it’s gotten dark--”

Her request was interrupted by a sudden yank at her shoulder, turning her around to face him. The squeal that left her mouth was shut-off before it could attract anyone’s attention outside. Shouta’s lips were harshly crashing down on her, instantly engulfing her in a less than proper kiss. His darlings fingers clawed into his shoulder, wanting to break through to his skin, causing him to stir, to move, to do anything. It was as if she knew without trying that there was no way to push him away from her, even less when his arm wrapped around her midriff, pulling her closer.

Her cut-off mumbles were followed by the hammering of her fist against his shoulder. But the longer she tried, the sooner her strength left her, unable to resist a moan as he bit her lip, pulling it back with him roughly before letting it go. “W-What are you doing, Aizawa-sensei?” she snapped back to reality as he finally let go. “What are you doing,” he hissed back. “Losing his keys in a broom closet, what a joke. Tell me what you did with him here, Kitten.”

With a forcible push of his leg between hers, she had no chance of resisting while Shouta propped his foot on the lowest shelf, causing her to stand on her tiptoes if she didn’t want to sit on his thigh. His demand got clearer when he pushed his leg upwards, black jeans rubbing against the fabric of her pants. “What is wrong with you?!” did she simply remark, not humoring his questions.

Anyone would have disapproved of such a behavior, but Shouta had years of teaching on his back, so not only did he have knowledge but also the patience to put her back into the right place. “Did he fuck you in here, is that what you two were doing? Did his keys fall out of his pocket because you pulled his pants down like a good slut?” Bopping his leg, Shouta was pleased to take in the surprised gasp from her mouth, fingers digging into his shoulders to desperately hold on to something while she lost her steady footing.

“What are you even implying--”

“Oh, you heard me. ‘Dating’ that’s what you two call it, right? Interesting, considering the relationship you and I have, don’t you think?”

“We don’t even--”

“Ah ah ah, be careful what you say, Kitten.”

By now, an anxious knot was forming in her stomach, alongside the prickles of pleasure that hit her from below. She knew exactly what he meant, and even in the dimly lit room with only a small, very high up window, he didn’t miss the gleam of understanding in her eyes. “Yes... yes, you do know. Remember the time I brought you home, too drunk to do it on your own? The faculty desks after hours? Or do you need a new lesson of who you belong too?”

Gulping, hard, she held back the moan stuck in her throat, shaking her head. “Good, now open your blouse,” he ordered. His darling only croaked a pitiful, slightly whiny, “Why?” before complying with shaky hands, feeling his hands press her even harder onto his leg. Not giving her the satisfaction to know, Shouta leaned forward, driving his lips over her collarbone and up into the crook of her neck.

An almost gentle kiss overcame him at first, raising goosebumps all over her skin before he broke the bubble, biting and suckling at her skin. He felt her muscles tense, heartbeat racing against his lips, and his hand precautiously slipping over her mouth and pressing down. Who knows what she’d be doing while he worked the delicate skin into a bruise, marking her, making sure everyone would know who she belonged to. Though all he could feel was warm, panicked breath against his fingers, followed by muffled pleas to let go.

When he did finally let off, the hickey had already started to form, red and bothered right there on her neck. Even with a collar, it would be hard to hide, it was perfect. Finally, he let her off, pulling back his leg and let her land on unsteady feet, arms struggling to catch her body on the shelves. Reaching up to touch her neck, she felt the burning patch of skin, whining softly. However, Shouta wasn’t quite done yet, catching her chin between thumb and pointer finger, pulling her gaze up towards him.

“Who do you belong to, Kitten? Say it.”

The strength to still hesitate was remarkable, even though she knew she had no way out. “Y-You...” she eventually muttered, biting her bottom lip in frustration as she felt tears shoot into her eyes.

There was no escaping him, Shouta had always made it clear before. It was her own fault to think just because he wasn’t stalking her anymore, showing up at her house every night and demanding anything he wanted at any given moment from her, that he ever took his eyes off. His darling had felt safe, thinking he moved on, so they tried to do the same with the person they fell in love with.

“You should break up with him. Be nice and do it, or I will take care of it, got it, Kitten?”

Waiting for the shaken, “Yes,” to roll off her lips, he let her go, leaving her behind, disheveled and with a burning hickey on her neck, hoping she’d learn her lesson.

Shouta wasn’t about denying that the thought of him making sure his fellow teacher Vlad King got the message loud and clear wasn’t enticing to him. But he rather wanted to watch the break-up and soak in the feeling of his darling knowing her place.

I think there's a difference between street smart and academically smart that people don't really grasp. Marinette's street smart because she's clever and can put plans together quickly while Adrien's academically smart because he is one of the top students and his worst grade was an A- lol.

Yes! That is one of my fav things about them. There are different types of intelligence and Adrien definitely is academically smart. He cames from a affluent family which put emphasis on having a wide range of knowledge and skillsets. 

Marinette is street smart because she learns well from seeing something happen and forms judgement base off it. She is very situational where she sees whats the most effective way to utilize her knowledge. 

They both are good problem solvers, but grasp it in completely different ways. Adrien’s academic background requires him to have concert proof to back up claims. Marinette likes him just as a friend? Makes sense because she has confirmed on several occasions that she doesn’t have a crush on him and proves it by saying any suspicious attention she gives him is because she is into fashion. That checks out for him. Lila lies? Makes sense because she cannot provide proof for her claims and has shown shady behavior in the past. Can they expose Lila? No because to him people need to see it to believe it and they just cannot prove that with just stating it.

Marinette street smarts from lived experiences can allow her to see situations from a personal perspective. Gabriel Agreste is Hawmoth? Makes sense because he shows the characteristics of being an aloof widower who has a fear of public and an intense demeanor so he could pass as a villain. Lila lies? Of course because since day one it was obvious she was a social climber and wanted attention she understands that human behavior. Expose her? Yes she would love to because she knows from experiences with bullies that they will just get worst. 

They both aren’t wrong with the train of thoughts and together are stronger. Where Adrien lacks in understanding social dynamics and motive of people because people need to state it clearers, Marinette just gets it because she lived life. But also where Marinette lacks grounding of her beliefs and could spiral in a train of thought that causes unnecessary mental stress and distractions, Adrien wouldn’t go that deep into thinking and can keep a clear mind.

It’s Time to Talk about a Bespectacled Elephant in the Room

I’ve been in the Beatles fandom for 8 and a half years. I have had a Beatles blog for the entirety of those 8 and a half years, and I have watched as discourse about these four men evolve. The discourse inside and outside the fandom has become so toxic that I don’t think I can engage with it in the same way that I could before. Let me explain. 

When I entered this fandom 8 and a half years ago, it was in 2012, quite an infamous year in tumblr history. That was the pique of “”cringey”” fandom culture. The Beatles fandom was as steeped in fandom culture as any other fandom. I know this because I was part of two of the top of fandoms at the time, Doctor Who and Sherlock. Believe me, I have seen cringe. 

The fandom at the time was totally aware of the John, Paul, George, and Ringo’s flaws as individuals, but most fans tended to simply enjoy Beatles fandom as if it were the 60s. Some might call it ignorant bliss. If you asked me at the time, I’d have said it was self-aware ignorant bliss--if that even makes sense. At the time, there wasn’t a person with a Beatles icon who hadn’t heard the line “John Lennon beat his wife.” Everyone knew it, but everyone also knew the real story, and so everyone just made peace with it. As a result, people didn’t think about every bad thing the Beatles ever did on a daily basis. It was more like a once-a-month kind of thing. Otherwise, fandom discourse was quite fun and relaxed. There were no shipping wars, no one fought over who was the best Beatle, everyone gushed over the Beatles wives, and we all just had fun with fics and fan art. 

Of course, in this period, people engaged in conversations about one bespectacled Beatles problematic behavior. These conversations usually came from outside of the fandom. It was usually randos coming into the tags or into someone’s ask box and ranting about John Lennon’s violent behavior. Some of it came from within the fandom. Some people really didn’t like John and gave others shit if they listed John as their favorite Beatle. A lot of the discourse boiled down to: ‘hey, I see you like John Lennon. You should know that he beat his wife. And now that you know that, you should feel bad about ever liking him in the first place.’ And the response was often, ‘Actually, John Lennon didn’t beat his wife. They weren’t even married at the time. And also he didn’t beat her, he slapped her once in the face, and then never did it again.’ No one’s minds were changed. The fans had made their peace, and the antis came off as cynical and pretentious. 

When Dashcon happened, and Tumblr took a hard look at its cringey fandom culture, the Beatles fandom evolved as well. The fandom became, frankly, less fun. It no longer felt like a group of people who found the Beatles decades after the 60s and were fangirling like it was 1965. There was still some of that left, but a lot of it kind of faded. So, most fandom interactions were reblogging pictures of the Beatles from the 60s and various interview clips and quotes. But the barrage of antis never really went away, and the response didn’t evolve. 

Then, the advent of cancel culture came on. I always waited for the Beatles to get, like, officially canceled, but I also felt they were uncancel-able at the same time. Let me explain. I have been a Beatles fan primarily in an online space, rarely engaging with fans in real life. But I have met fans who are life-long Beatles fans, people who are a lot older than us and who’s fandom isn’t tied to the internet. They don’t give a shit about any of our discourse. They may or may not have heard it before, but they seem totally indifferent to all of it. I’m sure most of them have never heard ‘Mclennon’ before. These are the people that flock to see Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr in concert (and pay astronomical prices for it). These are the people who go to record shops and buy vinyl. These are the people I run into at flea markets who buy up all the Beatles merch before I can even arrive (true story). So, the Beatles will never be canceled because there will always be people who love the Beatles and don’t engage with online discourse. Rarely said, but thank god for Gen-X. 

As cancel culture took over the internet, fandoms changed. It’s not as noticeable in fandoms without problematic favs. For instance, I’m also steeped in the Tom Holland fandom, and that boy is a little angel who has done no wrong. No one has discourse about the unproblematic boy who plays an equally unproblematic character. But in fandoms with ‘problematic favs’ the mood has shifted. I’m also in the Taron Egerton fandom. Taron Egerton, for those who only follow me for my Beatles stuff, is a genuinely sweet and kind person who has had zero scandals in his six year career. There were some rumblings when he was cast as Elton John, and some people took issue with the fact that he’s a straight man playing a gay man. This discourse seemed to die quickly as a whole lot of straight people played gay people in that same year (Olivia Coleman as queer Queen Anne, Emma Stone as her queer lover, Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury). Why jump on this boy who at the time was still technically on the rise. He’s not exactly the same target as someone like Scarlett Johansson who has her pick of roles. Taron doesn’t have quite that some power in Hollywood, and I think most people made peace with the fact that this was a big role for him, and it’s not really fair to take that away from him. So, all in all, the closest thing to a scandal was something that died pretty much on arrival. 

That was until this summer when everything changed. When George Floyd was murdered, celebrities flocked to social media to mourn his loss. Taron’s social media account was silent. For weeks, Taron said nothing about Black Lives Matter or Floyd’s death. This caused outrage in the fandom. Many raced to defend him, starting a hashtage #IstandwithTaron. Others sought to tear him down and anyone who supported him. The kind of mania this one incident caused tore through an otherwise peaceful fandom. What I saw was two sides in a total panic. The antis were people who once had faith that Taron was a good person and were now questioning that. Andthe defenders were people who desperately wanted him to be a good person and were afraid that he wasn’t. In essence, both sides could feel Taron about to get canceled. The defenders wanted to stop it, the antis wanted to ride that wave. 

What this long drawn out Taron example is meant to convey: is that cancel culture has put fandoms on edge. One’s fav has to be perfect, otherwise it can jeopardize the existence of the entire fandom. I’ll admit, I was afraid that I’d be some kind of pariah for standing by Taron through all of this. My actions were to basically reason with the antis but still defend Taron. I defend him mostly because I felt that his silence was the result of a needed social media absence and that trying to shame him back onto social media was an invasion of privacy. But I was genuinely afraid that he would get canceled, and the fun of the Taron fandom would be lost. 

In the Beatles fandom, it often feels like the Beatles, mainly John, have already been canceled. I see this coming from two different sources: antis from outside of the fandom and antis within the fandom. The outside antis are just the same as the ones from 2012. These are people who like to drop in that John Lennon beat his wife, posting this in the tag (which violates an ancient tumblr real by the way--no hate in the tags). 

The antis outside the fandom speak to a larger anti-John Lennon sentiment online. I see references to John Lennon ‘beating his wife’  on Tiktok and twitter. The tone of anti-John Lennon posts has shifted. Before, it felt like the antis were being smug but also argumentative. They wanted to have a conversation about this bit of info they read on Reddit with no context. Now, “John Lennon beating his wife” is practically a meme. It’s a running joke online that John Lennon was a wife beater. I can’t look on my instagram explore page because every so often a John Lennon beats his wife meme will pop up amongst the other, normal, memes.

This change in discourse suggests that the internet has just accepted this as fact now. I should note that back in 2012, it seemed as if few people knew this fact. The fandom knew it, and these random antis knew it, but few others did. Now, because of how common these memes are, it seems to be widespread knowledge.

Consequently, the Beatles fandom, who used to ward off attacks from antis, seems to have given in. I recently saw a post from a Beatles blog (had the URL and icon and everything) that confessed they felt guilty for listening to the Beatles, and I’ve seen similar sentiments expressed in the fandom. People tend to put disclaimers in posts about John or even all four that John is an ‘awful man.’ It seems like the self-aware ignorant bliss has completely gone away. Occasionally, I still see posts joyously talking about Mclennon or reblogs of old photos from the 60s. But the culture has shifted. 

Online, it no longer feels comfortable to be a Beatles fan. It feels like you have to own up to 8 decades of mistakes by four men you’ve never met. And, I should note, this is kind of how it feels to be a fan of anything right now. Taron is not canceled today, but he could be tomorrow. It’s this pervasive feeling of guilt that the person you’re supporting may or definitely has or is doing something wrong.

I’ll admit this uncomfortable feeling has expanded into other parts of my fandom life. I listen to their music, and I feel elated--the way I always have. Then, I get these intrusive thoughts which sound like all the worst parts of Twitter combined. It wasn’t always like this. Back in 2012, when I knew almost nothing about them, I saw them as four young men who were full of happiness, love for another, and talent. Back then, listening to their music was exciting and joyous. Sometimes, I fear that I can never feel that way again. Next year, when I finally go to Liverpool, will I be filled with excitement or guilt? 

I say all this for a few reasons. One, I love John Lennon. I appreciate all the good he did for the world not just as a musician and an artist but also his advocacy and charity work. I love him, and a part of me will always love him, but observing the change in discourse has enlightened me as a historian. Part of my job is to observe people’s legacies, and John’s is perhaps the most interesting legacy I’ve ever observed. When he died, he was hailed as a saint. But tall poppy syndrome set in, and the antis started. This culture grew and grew to the point where it seems to, at least among the younger generation, taken over the sainthood. 

But as a historian and a fan, I have never seen the saint or the devil. I’ve only seen the man, the incredibly flawed man. The thing that these antis never understand is that John Lennon was painfully aware of his own flaws to the point where it made him all the more self-destructive. In essence, his past mistakes caused him to make additional mistakes. But John, aware of his own flaws, always tried to change and was often successful. I’ve talked about this before, but John demonstrated that he was capable of being a good person, like properly so, again and again. After he struck Cynthia, he never hit her again. His shortcomings as a father to Julian weren’t repeated with Sean. He worked on his drinking, his drug addiction, and his anger, trying to overcome those demons till the day he died. By all accounts, the John Lennon that died in 1980 is not the John Lennon who struck Cynthia Powell at school. That John Lennon was living a cleaner, healthier life. He was a better father to both his sons by that point, and was trying to repair his relationship with Julian. He was a good husband to Yoko and saw himself living a long and happy life. 

John Lennon cannot and should not be boiled down to just his flaws. It’s one thing as a fan to acknowledge that John is a flawed human being (news flash: they all are), but he is also much bigger than that. 

So once again, why am I writing this long, rambling post, once again talking about John Lennon’s virtues? Because if I can’t engage with healthy discourse about the Beatles and John Lennon, then I can’t engage with discourse on the topic at all. So, I probably will post less Beatles stuff because I find it hard to go through the tags or even my dash (well, I can’t really go through my dash anymore for other reasons I’m not going to get into right now). If any of my followers have noticed a lot of Taron posts lately, it’s not just because I love Taron, it’s because Taron’s  tag is pretty much the only location on tumblr I feel 100% comfortable in. Any foray into John or the Beatles tags becomes uncomfortable and guilt-ridden quickly. 

So, I probably will post less about the Beatles until I can find a blog or a tag that doesn’t give me bad vibes. My fandom will likely outgrow tumblr and the internet. I have a ton of Beatles books; maybe I’ll rely on those. I am doing official scholarly research on them now. Maybe that will be my outlet. I’m sorry if I post less about them now, but it’s really for my own well-being.

okay, so I tried to find some thing from my old chats with my ex on discord to find out when exactly I fell in love with shouto, but tbh... by the looks of it and by my memory it took awhile.

july 23, 2019 is the first time I openly admitted my love for todoroki shouto to my ex. now I can’t tell you if it started around that time or before, but I will say that it was not immediate. so first thing to know about me is that I started with the anime originally, my ex had tried to get me to watch bnha for about half a year before I caved, and because he literally was like “we’re gonna watch it, no choice” because I was a “omg anime is for nerd weebs” kinda person. anyways to your question!

to be very honest, I did not like shouto that much. I thought he was an asshole, a possible unhinged psycho bitch in that first season. the first time I saw him on screen I deadass said “zuko vibes” which was probably more towards his scar than anything else. season one ended with us knowing nothing about shouto except that he was willing to kill men for information and that he was a powerhouse.

upon watching season two he seemed to become even crueler and I was not for it. midoriya was also my fav for a long time because he is so cute and from my limited knowledge of anime, hes a big difference from the happy go lucky idiot who powerhouses through everything with the power of friendship. so I was like “canceled, I hate you.” with finishing the sports festival and  understanding why shouto was the way he was, I still couldn’t find it within myself to forgive him. I understood that he was a victim of abuse, but I am a solid believer of not allowing other peoples behavior affect who you are. I think no matter what you go through, your hardships and pains, you don’t have the right to be mean to other people. and to me, shouto was being mean. so while I understood and pitied him for it, I couldn’t come to forgive him.

the stain arc was like “oh, cool, he’s actually growing and letting himself not let his past define who is with others!” I started liking him more at this point but it was still nowhere near the intensity it is today. I still didn’t consider him a top 10 character.

season three came and we had the training camp arc, the provisional licensing, and the mirio fight. at this point he still just didn’t interest me. I saw that he was growing, but with my “well you were an ass,” I couldn’t see him as anything but someone who felt guilty. 

season four wasn’t out still so I didn’t have the supplement classes to judge him on. so what I did instead -- because the first time I watched it I couldn’t tell you any characters name outside of midoriya, bakugou, and all might -- was rewatch the entire series again, and again.

I came to a see the characters and who they were, no longer focused on just those three people but observing them all, and the thing is... todoroki started to stand out. I am a girl who has a... tendancy for falling for people with parental issues and AHAHAHAHA TODOROKI SHOUTO IS EXACTLY THAT!!!

I remember reading the manga and it just hit me when I was watching what will be an arc for season five and feeling ready to throw hands for shouto and I was like “...now wait a fucking second...” and it hit me that in some way he had become my favorite character in the series. which lead to that screenshot I put in the beginning. I also had tumblr -- and the day that I decided that it was time for my to delete it after having it for a free months -- one of the old blogs I followed reblogged and tagged something with my hero and I came across the fandom.

it was also the first time I had stumbled across the x reader tag and I was drawn in immediately. I read all the shouto fics I could and eventually there wasn’t enough updating and content to read so I started writing my own LMAOOOO and yeah... almost a full year later and he’s still my favorite! and aint nobody ever gonna top him in that regard.

I don't know if you saw the tweet from Alex (@frameworkfitz): "Fun fact: nowhere has anyone actually said Fitz is in 709." It seems like this person is connected with the show in some capacity and is trying to temper expectations regarding Fitz after some recent interviews with cast members. (Part 1 of 2)

(Part 2 of 2) If the tweet is true, then it seems we should not expect Fitz to appear in this week's episode. Regarding the time loop that is coming up, if Coulson or Enoch has somehow been coopted by Sybil, do you think they could be responsible for the malfunction causing the time loop for the purpose of giving Sybil the opportunity to observe the team's behavior to discover weaknesses that would allow her to defeat them? You are very welcome and thank you for sticking with me for so long!   I really do enjoy the asks, even if they can get overwhelming sometimes, and I take pride in give the best answers I can with the information I have.

No, I had not seen that tweet.  

I am unsure in they have any connection with the show but often their teases can be on point.  But that doesn’t mean you can’t have some carefully measured just above the expectations gutter of hope.  

You know I am always in the Manage Expectations camp.  Now more than ever as the Fitz/Fitzsimmons fandom is pretty spent from the waiting.   I won’t lie I thought we’d have either more hints by now or had some sort of sighting.  The asks about him have worn me down and even my own patience is wearing thinner.  He’s my fav and I miss him.  I know other things need to be in place so he can come into the mix and most of that work is coming this week, but at the same time I want him back so badly.  

In relation to the interviews.  Elizabeth gave two variations of the quote.   With Lorraine it was “you’ll learn some from Jemma and some from Fitz.”.  then in the NY Post Article it was Henstridge plays cool-headed team member Jemma Simmons, one of the top science experts. Her husband, Leopold Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), has been on an offscreen mission this season — and Henstridge says viewers will learn a little more about that in Wednesday’s episode.“At some point we will hear directly from Fitz and what he is doing,” she says. “I think that will be a relief to some fans.”

There is some context being taken by the author but that one really did make it sound like we’d get some Fitz this week.  And we still could.  Jemma could have flashbacks if Diana starts to malfunction and is taken out.  Fitz could be in the tag.   Or its a we don’t SEE him but we HEAR him.  In that a message comes through or Jemma’s got some sort of recording that is giving her comfort.  

Either way, seeing or hearing Fitz or no, we are gong to get some serious answers from Jemma this week.   That is essentially the flood gates that were needed to open up the Fitzsimmons arc and her fight to get back to him (and their family).  

Sabotage is absolutely on the table as to what trapped them in the time storm  and since Coulson was “sleeping” in his cove that could be the first finger that is pointed at Enoch as not only was he awake but he knows the Time Drive and was actively working on it when things went south.  

If SIBYL has already Corrupted Robo Coulson she has his memories and his memories of the team and will already have all those strengths and weaknesses.  Even Enoch to a certain extent will have that form the time he’s spent with them and Fitzsimmons.  

My current theory is that the trapped in the loop is for a few reasons.

Daisy being protected from it wasn’t part of the plan and something our betrayer will have to work around and manipulate.

Being trapped in the loop might not be part of the plan but something the betrayer totally works with.

The Betrayer is after something or someone very specific on the Zephyr and my top picks there are Diana’s knowledge (AKA everything about the mission and the Zephyr), Jemma’s knowledge without Diana IE where Fitz is, or Enoch.   

Taking Jemma and Enoch out of the equation would really hurt the team for the rest of the season.  We’ve seen them struggle before when both of Fitzsimmons are missing.

A big thing SIBYL is after is a new body (as i have always been and will be again) and a way out of the 80′s.  There is only so far the tech could go for her and I can see her wanting to get her hands on who built Robo Coulson (Fitz), she seemed impressed by him during their meeting and knew he was different.  The Zephyr can give her that ride out of there or at the very least a way to reach out to a not destroyed Chronica 2 for back up.  

To get the team to reach out to Fitz after Jemma gives up to Diana and for him to reveal his location if she won’t.  

And while the Betrayer needs something from the Zephyr they also have to secretly work with the team to get out of the Time Stream and won’t make that final pounce until we think we’re all safe and out of the Time Storm.  

In forcing Jemma to give up Diana and reveal those memories she’s been repressing it will also cause a bit of hit in the trust within the team.  they could be upset by what and how much she has been hiding.   This may explain why she is after Fitz more on her own and most of the team is running to Afterlife to stop Nathaniel.

Story wise to Nathaniel in Afterlife so its all set up for when the team shows up.  By the time they make it back it could be hours, days, weeks, or years.  Anything past hours means a whole lot of awful is waiting for them.  

As much as I want to see Fitz I am fully prepared for it  not to happen yet.  The writers have held this story to the end for a reason and I have no question that the wait is going to be worth it.  No matter what I think we are going to get more of the answers we want and that final set up to bring him in in 10.  

I want this episode to do well for Elizabeth.  She’s worked so hard for it, she’s so proud of it, and she got a crazy episode to do it with.  Groundhog Day from Hades meets Clue.  I’m going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Plus we get her SDCC panel after it!  So yay more chances for clues and for her to get all the kudos she deserves!
