me: sends my family a carefully thought out ideas gift list for my partner with sizes, options, etc *2 months* before december since he can be difficult to gift and they all get stressed about it b/c they procrastinate. Also stated in the email that gifting is optional and not to stress about it

october, november, first half of december: crickets my mom, literally a week and a half before gift-giving event: i wish to get a thoughtful gift for your partner and have waited till now. pls halp, i am very stressed. me, internally: *eldritch screech into the endless void*

#argh #text post #rant #vent #we actually decided to finally pull the plug on christmas and celebrate solstice instead b/c neither of us are into it or christian #but we still wanted to do a hey winter sucks lets eat nice food and give gifts celebration and try not to be depressed #my family is celebrating elsewhere because they seem to think the plaguetimes are over despite covid et al numbers being high af #my family always procrastinates and it drives me batty #im pretty sure we all have adhd but im like hyper aware of mine so im deeply anxious about doing everything early and on time #i set like a billion alarms and alerts #my family just rolls in late everywhere #i just dont think you can be thoughtful if you are stressed and panicked like thats just a bad time for everyone
