I have had a few bucky x read fic ideas bouncing around in my head and i cant write! So here is one,
Sam find a person who stairs and doesnt talk a whole lot because they uses âštelepathy âš. So Sam think they would be a good fit for Bucky, but he doesnât know they have that power he just thinks they are mute. Then there is a thing where the reader is telling Buck how it works and they if they have something to connect them together like an object *reader motions to dog tags* they can have an unbreakable mind link. Then they fall in love or something. This is dumb, thank you for coming to my TedTalk
Hey! Thank you so much for this request, it wasn't dumb at all. I really enjoyed writing this. I may have gotten a bit carried away, this may sit close to 4000 words but we vibe. I hope this is what you had in mind! Please enjoy! <3
Click here for my masterlist of other fics and check in my bio for requests if anyone wishes to ask!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bucky had been enjoying a moments peace, he loved working with Sam but sometimes all he wanted was to put his feet up, put on some vinyl and enjoy a good cup of coffee all while reading a brilliant book. He had been trying to get into Game of Thrones lately, on Samâs insistence, and he had been enjoying it. With the crackles of Glenn Miller from the turntable he missed the clunky footsteps coming up the stairs.
The sight that greeted Sam needed to be photographed. Bucky was lounging back on his âold man armchairâ feet up, hair in a towel, in a bathrobe, coffee in hand and facemask on, this was definitely one for the family album.
At the sound of the phone shutter Bucky practically launched himself out of the chair.
âOh, you are never gonna live this one down old boy, itâs going to haunt you.â Sam almost cackled evilly as he began to email the photo to himself- he had learnt the hard way that Bucky was very proficient at breaking phones.
âYou better not upload that photo anywhere, Wilson, I have a reputation to uphold.â
âPfft, reputation, thatâs funny.â
Bucky scoffed as he stood up, placing his book carefully on the side table, âBig scary super soldier, people hardly run-in fear from a guy in a bathrobe.â
âI disagree, a man in a bathrobe is definitely something you should run from. AH NOPE!â Sam jumped backwards, on top of a nearby chair, as Bucky lunged for the phone, towel turban falling off in the process. âYou are not breaking this phone as well.â
âFine. But you gotta promise not to post that anywhere.â Bucky huffed.
âI wonât.â
âGood.â
âAs long as- â
âOh no, Iâm not doing anything for you.â
âThink of it as payment for the last phone you broke and insurance for this picture.â
There was silence for a moment as the two friends eyed each other up. Sam raised his eyebrows, Buckyâs eyes narrowed. It was an intense staring match between a guy in a bathrobe and a precariously balanced man. A clock ticked.
âFine.â Bucky conceded. âWhat do you want?â
âFor you to come to a meeting.â
âThe families of Veterans ones?â
âYeah.â Sam slowly started climbing down from the chair. âAnd before you get your old man pants in a twist, Iâm not trying to force you to talk or anything, kinda.â
âKinda?â Suspicion laced through Buckyâs voice.
âYou know sign language, right?â
âWhich kind?â
âAmerican? I think?â
âYeah, I know ASL, might be a bit rusty but Iâm sure it still holds up. Why do you ask?â
Sam shifted slightly on his feet, âThereâs this person, they come in every week and listen. I tried to talk to them, but they communicate through sign language, and I donât have anyone there to talk with them.â He cast his eyes to the floor, âI feel bad. They were brave enough to come to the group only to basically be ignored âbecause we didnât plan well enough.â
Bucky smiled, face mask crinkling around his smile lines, âYou could have just asked me to Sam. You didnât have to blackmail me into this, of course Iâll help. Whenâs the next meeting?â
âThis evening. You gonna be ready or do you need some more âmeâ time.â
Bucky simply chuckled at Samâs teasing tone, patted his shoulder making sure to squeeze just a bit too hard before retreating to his room.
âIâll be there, Wilson, and I will look so much younger than you!â
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was frustrating to you, going along to these meetings and not being able to communicate. You could always speak into someoneâs mind but all that usually accomplished was a very paranoid person. But just listening to otherâs stories really helped the grief from losing someone so close to you. You related to most of the people there and even though they didnât understand you a lot of the time, you were always made to feel welcome- with friendly pats on the back and the odd tissue thrown your way.
You bustled into the familiar building with a new sense of excitement as Sam had promised to bring a translator for you this week. It was finally time to say your thanks to some of the people there and finally let the group know about your brother, so that it wasnât only you that remembered him.
You all but ran through the hallways until you caught sight of a familiar smiling man. Sam was facing you, talking animatedly to another man, the strangers back was to you. He was tall, broad shouldered and dressed in a vintage looking leather jacket and rather well fitted trousers. Now the debate was: does the tailoring make the ass, or does the ass make the tailoring. You were halfway through the arguments on either side when Sam shouting your name disrupted the intense debating in your mind. You blushed at being caught, then blushed some more when you caught sight of the strangerâs face. Twinkling blue eyes under a deep-set brow should have made him intimidating, but he was smiling, and his face was dazzling. There was an immediate fluttering in your stomach.
âHey, Iâm Bucky.â Dear lord even his voice was nice, what made you smile even more was the fact that he signed as he spoke. Well, Sam certainly knew how to pick them well. âSam introduced me; said you wanted an interpreter.â
You nodded as you signed back, âNice to meet you, thank you for helping out.â
âNo problem, Sam has told me a bit about you.â
âGood things I hope.â
âOkay I recognise my own name, you two better not be conspiring against me.â Sam piped up, to be honest you had forgotten about him for a moment.
Bucky laughed, and it sent a little thrill down you, he really was adorable.
âNo worries, Wilson, just letting them know all your dirty little secrets.â
âRight, you two get in there, before you make me sleep with one eye open.â
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You and Bucky caught each otherâs eye, his eyes were twinkling with mischief, and you couldnât help the smile that overtook you. You had a feeling that the two of you would get on just fine.
The meeting passed easily. Bucky translated your signs and you finally felt like you could actually take part in these meetings. Everyone listened intently when you spoke of your brother and when you had thanked the whole group for being so open to you a couple of people shed a tear. By the end of the meeting though you were tired and very accepting of Buckyâs offer to walk you home.
It was a lot of side glances and hidden smiles and you walked side by side. Drawn to each other under the moonlit sky, it was nice to just be in the presence of someone who had such a kind aura. You spent the walk trying to work up the confidence to sign something, anything but nothing came to mind and Bucky seemed quite content to just walk in comfortable silence.
You soon reached your home, you turned to Bucky with a smile on your face and signed,
âThanks for today, Bucky. You were really helpful.â
âNo problem.â He signed back,
You hesitated slightly before signing, âWould you be happy to have a coffee with me, tomorrow?â
Bucky went a little red in the face, and chuckled, âI would love to, I know a nice place, real cosy. Iâll text you the details.â
âYou know how to text?â
âHey! I get enough stick from Sam, donât need you getting on my case too. Iâll have you know that I am very adaptable.â
âSure, Sure.â You smiled at his flustered tone. âIâll wait for your text then, have a good evening.â
âYou too.â
The two of you stared slightly awkwardly at each other, neither wanting to be the first to turn around. You shuffled your feet away slowing, smiling awkwardly once more at Bucky before turning. You heard his footsteps start to fade away as you walked towards your home. You were but three steps to the door when a large figure in a hoodie slammed into you, you raised your arms instinctively to block them when you noticed your shoulder was lighter. The bastard had stolen your bag.
You immediately took chase, chasing around the corner you just walked down but they were fast, faster then you at least. As you rounded the corner you caught sight of Bucky walking ahead. The thief wouldnât stand a change against him. Without a second thought you cast your thoughts towards Bucky,
âBucky! Thief! My Bag! Behind you!â
You saw Bucky flinch slightly then turn bewildered, his eyes widening when he saw you hurting towards him, chasing the hooded figure. He caught on and launched after the thief as well, with barely any effort he knocked the thief to the ground, grabbed your bag and whipped out his phone to call the cops.
Well, that was hot.
You took your bag back, immediately checking that you brotherâs lucky coin was in the zippy pocket, to your relief it was still there. You looked up to see Bucky staring at you with a very puzzled look on his face. You sighed before casting your thoughts to his head once more,
âIâll explain later.â
Bucky let out a strange, decompressed noise of shock, it made you giggle. The two of you waited in silence until the police came and took the thief away. The police car had barely driven away when he turned to you.
âDid you just, talk in my head? Or did my conscious just suddenly get really loud.â
âI did. Hi. Sorry about that.â
He waved his hands dismissively. âBelieve it or not, not the weirdest thing Iâve encountered.â
âWell, thatâs reassuring.â
There was an awkward silence.
âSo,â You started, resorting back to sign language, it felt less invasive, âStill down for coffee?â
Bucky smiled, âOne hundred percent. Iâll see you tomorrow?â
âYeah. Bye Bucky. Thanks for getting my bag back.â
âNo problem, see ya.â
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The coffee shop that Bucky invited you to, was tucked away, it was the kind of place that you would stumble over on accident. With a simple door and a big window out the front, that lead soft orange light filter out onto the alley. There was the faint sound of jazz leaking out of the building, you smirked. It was such an old fashioned place, of course this was where Bucky frequented.
The bell tinkled slightly as you entered the cafĂ©, where you were greeted with the smell of fresh coffee and baked goods. You caught sight of Buckyâs broad shoulders sitting in the corner, and you made your way over to him, smiling at the barista as you passed.
As if sensing you, Bucky turned to smile and wave. He was dressed in casual clothes like last time, but this time his hair was loose around his shoulders. You smiled back before settling into the seat opposite him.
His hands moved hesitantly as he signed, âWhat would you like? I can recommend their hot chocolate, its very warming/â
âHot chocolate it is.â
You could tell he wanted to ask you a million questions but to his credit he walked slowly to get the drinks, he even took his time carefully carrying the tray of drinks back to your table. He placed a delicious looking hot chocolate in front of you. You watched as he took a sip.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1-
âSo,â Here we go, âWhat is it you can do, you can speak in peoplesâ heads, can you,â He lowered his voice and leaned in, âCan you read peopleâs minds?â
You giggled slightly, his eyes were basically sparkling, he was definitely nerding out about this.
You set the hot chocolate down before casting your thoughts to his head, âI can speak in peoples heads relatively easily, itâs how I talk most of the time to people I know. I guess you could call it Telepathy.â
Buckyâs eyes were as wide as saucers, âSo you canât read thoughts, only⊠speak them?â
âI like to call it casting, makes me feel like a sorcerer. I can read thoughts, but it takes a lot of energy. I used to be able to talk with my brother from across the house. That usually requires some kind of connection.â
âOh, so like a blood or family connection? Do you have to know the person very well?â
âThat certainly helps but itâs not always necessary. If I have a personal object that belongs to that person, something I can hold and connect to them it isnât hard to make a two-way connection. Especially if that person is willing to open their mind.â
Bucky seemed to be caught in thought for a second. âSo, if I were to give you something of mine, we could both talk in our⊠heads?â
âWell yes, but Bucky we have only just met. Letting me into your head is a lot. I try not to pry but sometimes Iâve found that thoughts just burst through. Letâs get to know each other a before that happens.â
Bucky smiled at you before speaking and signing, âYouâre right. Letâs get to know one another. I find you fascinating.â
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It happened on the fifth date. Bucky was just walking you home after a lovely dinner at a small Italian that he claimed he went to back in the 40s. Just outside your door, under the glow of a lamppost he turned to you and took a deep breath before speaking.
âI know this may be a lot, but I wanted to give you these.â He reached around his neck and pulled off something silver. You gasped slightly as he held out his dog tags, immaculately preserved after all these years.
âAre you sure, Bucky? This is a lot.â
âI know and if you arenât comfortable with it then just let me know but I want to give them to you.â
âYou know what this means Bucky?â
âYeah, I know, I just figured that youâre already in my head all the time anyways, just canât seem to get you out of it.â
âYou cheeseball.â You smirked at him before taking the dog tags and placing them around your neck. You gripped the cold metal for a moment, concentrating on the man in front of you. Taking everything, you knew about him and stretching out a connection, like a hand reaching out to clasp another.
âTesting, Testing, Testing, one two, one two, can my Telepathic partner hear me?â
You laughed, âYes I can Bucky, you big dork.â
Bucky whooped out loud before sweeping you up in a big hug. The two of you laughing under the lamp light. His joy was infectious, and you couldnât fight the smile off your face.
âOh, we are going to have so much fun messing with Sam.â
âYouâre evil.â
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, the two of you made a pact not to tell Sam until he worked it out, which wouldnât be anytime soon according to Bucky. It led to some very memorable moments and Sam refusing to play any form of card or board game with either of you because you always managed to win, somehow. Not to mention all the times you had spoken in eery unison around him.
âI swear, its like you two can read each otherâs minds sometimes.â Sam threw his hands up in frustration at another lost game of charades.
You smirked at Bucky across the room, âShould you tell him, or shall I?â
âI think heâs been through enough, I got it.â
Bucky cleared his throat, âWe can.â
Sam whipped around to face Bucky, a look of sheer disbelief on his face, âSeriously Bucky-boy, if you think I believe that after all-
âHello Sam.â You cast your thoughts to him, in the creepiest old lady voice you could muster.
Sam yelped, before turning accusingly at you, âYou better be joking around with me right now, I am not dealing with any kind of ghosts in this house.â
âSorry! Surprise Iâm telepathic!â
âYouâre serious.â
You nodded.
Sam put his head in his hands and sighed, âNot the weirdest thing ever. Wait, does this mean you have been cheating this entire time.â
You both looked guiltily at one another.
âYou owe me. That poker night, void.â
You both laughed, âWeâll have a fair rematch this time Sam.â
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had been close to a year since you had made it official with Bucky and you were now much more comfortable around one another. He no longer just dropped you off at the lamppost but cam inside with you. You had spent many lovely mornings together sharing glances over steaming cups of coffee. Fighting each other for who got to spread their legs out on the couch, there wasnât really a loser though as it usually ended up in sofa cuddles for both of you, while watching a film.
Life was pretty great, you thought, as you smiled down at the sleeping Bucky beside you. Finally reaching over to turn off the lamp and put your book down, you were finally reading the hobbit at Buckyâs insistence. As you clicked off the light beside you and settled down you noticed the faster than usual breathing coming from beside you.
âBucky?â
You reached out, thinking he was awake but instead as you opened up your connection you caught flashes of night terrors. You were falling indefinitely, snow all around you, and in the distance, there were cries of pain, people pleading for their lives, there was gunfire and explosions. You gasped and took off the dog tags. You only gave yourself a moment to breathe before trying to shake Bucky awake. When it became clear that he wasnât stirring you steadied yourself and settled your hands on his temples. You didnât care you tired this would make you, you just wanted Bucky to stop suffering. You focused, offering out that hand of connection again, this time picturing it in the shape of a fist and, although it wasnât subtle, you tried to shake Buckyâs brain awake. You forced your way into his dreams, punching through the dark fog that clouded his thoughts and almost screamed at him.
âBucky! Bucky wake up! Youâre dreaming my dear!â
Bucky woke up with a start. Tears flowing down his face, he stared at you blue eyes shining. No one spoke as he pulled you into his arms. You just breathed together for a moment, counting the breaths and the spaces in between. When he finally pulled back, you saw his eyes flicker with concern before lifting a hand to gently wipe under your nose, it came back red with blood.
âYou, okay?â
You smiled sadly, reaching out to put the dog tags back on.
âI should be asking you that.â
âBut youâre bleeding.â
âOccupational hazard.â You tried to subtly get rid of any of the extra blood. âThat was pretty intense. Wanna talk?â
Bucky looked down to the sheets and shook his head. You smiled at him, tilting his head to yours.
âThatâs fine, want me to go? Or would you like to cuddle for a bit?â
Bucky didnât talk again, just pulled you gently down to the bed once more. Snuggling himself under your chin, resting his head on your chest. You felt his arms draw tightly against your waist. You pressed your lips into his hair.
âMay I help you go to sleep? Keep the bad thoughts at bay for at least one night.â
You felt Bucky nod and let out a little sleepy hum of agreement. You closed your eyes, focused on your connection setting up a golden wall against the dark fog at the corners of his mind and settled into a deep sleep.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You woke to the smell of fresh coffee and the clinking of cups.
âMorning.â You opened your eyes at Buckyâs voice and took the offered cup greedily. Your mind still felt hazy from the energy you used last night.
You felt the bed dip beside you as Bucky sat and sipped at his cup as well, hair a bit of a mess from bed. He had evidently only just woken up as well.
He took a breath, âI had some pretty interesting dreams, sweetheart.â
You stiffened, âGood ones I hope.â
âDonât worry, they were good. If a little strange.â
âStrange?â
âI was watching myself most of the time.â
You snorted into the coffee, âSounds creepyâ
There was a slight chuckle, âNah, I was watching myself build a home, a family- â
âOh God Bucky.â You snapped your eyes to his, you knew what had happened. âI am so sorry my dreams must have stuck in your head.â
âThose were your dreams?â
âYeah, its only happened once before but when the connection between two people is very strong, it can happen- I call it bleeding. Perhaps we should- â
âIf the next words out of your mouth are take a break, I will spill your coffee.â You clutched your cup closer to your chest, âTruthfully, those were some of the beset dreams I have every had. I really loved them.â
You looked back up at him, hesitantly âYou did?â
âAnd I love you.â
âHuh
There was silence as you stared at him in shock. His face as nothing but adoration as the sunlight filtered over his face.
âI love you, sweetheart.â
âI love you too.â
Coffee cups were cast aside as you both collided. Giggling and joking, radiating happiness as the two of you shared the sweetest kiss. Your feelings merging together, amplifying one another until they shone brighter than the sun.

BnHA Chapter 320: Deku vs. Class 1-A
Previously on BnHA: Flashback!Kacchan was all âfuck Deku and fuck his stupid goodbye letters, I need to speak to somebody in charge.â Endeavor was all âhello, I am Somebody In Charge.â Kacchan was all âlisten up asshole, you need to let us go out and collect our wayward nerd because you stupidly left him alone with All Might and thatâs a fast track to disaster right there.â Endeavor was all, â[self-incriminating silence].â Rat Principal was all, âokay sure, have fun kids.â Back in the present, class 1-A was all âhi Dekuâ and Deku was all âIâM FINE!!!!!â and Kacchan was all âTHATâS WHAT I THOUGHT YOUâD SAY YOU DUMB FUCKING NERDâ and so the kids all got ready to fight, because OF COURSE theyâre gonna fight. Sorry guys, but yeah itâs happening.
Today on BnHA: Kacchan is all âwhatâs up Deku you look like a possessed Rorschach test, so anyway how are the new quirks coming along.â Deku is all âtheyâre coming along like THISâ and uses Smokescreen to try and get away. Kacchan is all âPHASE ONE COMMENCEâ, and Kouda, Sero, Jirou, and Ojiro leap into the fray to shower Deku with heaps of love and violence, because this is a shounen manga and kicking someoneâs ass while simultaneously proclaiming your undying admiration for them is just how itâs done in these parts. The KoudaSeroOJirou squad then passes the baton to Satou, Momo, Tokoyami, Kaminari, and Shouji, who are all âfuck this maskâ and do a bunch of stuff to tear Dekuâs mask off because theyâre the real heroes. Shouto is all âLOOK AT THE LITTLE CRYBABY, THATâS RIGHT, GO AHEAD AND FUCKING CRY and by the way let us share your burden please,â and once again I swear this is all very deeply moving and touching within the actual context. The chapter ends with Tsuyu being all âlook at me. Iâm the cliffhanger now,â and damn.
lol what
I donât think anyone was expecting that. I mean, not that Iâve got anything against Tsuyu or anything. anyways itâs a very nice cover and I love the colors and I hope this means Tsuyuâs gonna do something badass
also, âDeku vs Class Aâ -- pretty much the expected title, but itâs still got me hyped nonetheless fuck yeah letâs go
IIDA ANGST
Iida Tenya really said âfuck the uniform code, weâre leaving the helmet at home today.â sorry kids, prim and proper C-3PO Comic Relief Iida has left the building. can I interest you in some Serious Iida
meanwhile Kacchan is all âsup Deku, I heard you got a few more quirks, and might I just add that you look like the Snyder Cut of Detective Pikachuâ
âyou look like a tarred and feathered squidâ okay easy there Kacchan. I mean itâs all true of course, but still
âthank you all for comingâ OH EXCUSE ME SON, WERE YOU PLANNING ON GOING SOMEWHERE. LETâS JUST SEE HOW THAT PLAYS OUT
yep and thereâs Smokescreen, right on cue
okay Horikoshi, I leave it in your hands. hopefully you can come up with some more interesting combos than my dumbass predictions lol
LOL THIS ISNâT A COMBO AT ALL
âexplosions solve everythingâ -- Horikoshi Kouhei, 2021. something something shockwave, something something handwave ta-da no more smoke. lol okay then
oh, ouch
he would know, wouldnât he. nice application of one of your many hard-earned life lessons, Kacchan
by the way you guys, just as an experiment, Iâm going to try to anticipate some of the discourse this week in the hopes of preemptively addressing it and thus saving myself some time later on lol. so hereâs our first test run!
ANTICIPATED DISCOURSE: âoh my god what a fucking hypocrite can you believe this fucking guyâ
PREEMPTIVE REBUTTAL: itâs precisely because Kacchan has been in this exact situation himself that heâs able to recognize his past self in Deku now and call him out on it. just because it took him sixteen years to get it through his head that he canât accomplish every single thing completely by himself doesnât mean Deku has to go down that same path. so yeah, maybe it is a bit hypocritical, but if you insist that the only people qualified to call out stupid shit are people who have never done a single stupid thing in their own lives, then what youâre basically saying is that absolutely no one on earth is qualified lol. so yeah, Iâd have to disagree
and one last unrelated note, Iâm willing to bet the whole âyou didnât even say a word before you ran offâ thing is possibly the first thing Kacchanâs said in this whole encounter that actually does stem from genuine hurt rather than his tough-love-harsh-truths strategy. IâM TAKING NOTES HERE HORIKOSHI. at this rate itâll take twice as many chapters as DvK2 for them to hash out all the stuff between them, geez
anyway so I gotta say, so far Deku vs. Class A is looking an awful lot like a DvK3 wearing a hat, trenchcoat, and sunglasses lol
OH SHIT I TAKE IT BACK??
FUCK YEAH, YOU GO KOUDA. and I guess he ditched his mask as well! excellent
so far the strategy here seems to be âKacchan says all the mean tough love shit while the rest of 1-A balances it out with warmth and kindnessâ, which actually works pretty well imo. Deku is one of those people that doesnât usually need a Kacchan Translator anyway, but just in case, this is very efficient
mm but of course Deku is slingshotting himself away with Blackwhip. all right then, whoâs up next!
FUCK YEAH
okay but seriously you guys, what is going on with Seroâs face in these last couple of chapters though, itâs really starting to unnerve me. is he trying to emulate Kacchanâs whole asymmetrical facial expressions thing?
in fact let me just quickly hit pause here because,
ANTICIPATED DISCOURSE: âSERO IS TOGA??!â
PREEMPTIVE REBUTTAL: no
oh snap looks like Jirouâs getting in on the action too!
poor Jirou probably spent days racking her brain trying to think of something she could bond with Deku over. is Horikoshi doing these in reverse order of the kids who have had the most interaction with him? that would explain why poor Kouda didnât get a flashback lol
omg. well that answers that
so by my count, Satou and Hagakure are the only ones remaining in this first tier of kids who Still Appreciate Midoriya even though theyâve barely ever spoken two words to him in their lives lol. so theyâll probably be next, and then weâll get to the next tier of kids who are pretty good friends with him but not quite besties. and then weâll move on to the IidaRokiRaka trio, and then lastly, to the boy who is in a tier all his own
BUT FIRST, A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR
and by âsponsorâ I mean the Dekuangst. just in case that wasnât clear. indeed, many thanks to the Dekuangst for making this all possible
(ETA: okay so this whole âtake me awayâ line seemed pretty weird to me, and sure enough itâs yet another one of those cases where only the verb is specified, and the object is left to the readerâs interpretation. so even though the translation says âtake me awayâ, Iâm pretty sure that what Dekuâs actually saying is âtake you awayâ -- as in, his loved ones will be taken away by AFO.
and that is literally the way he phrases it, though -- the verb used is âć„Șăâ (ubau), meaning âto snatch away; to dispossess; to steal.â which, god, that hurts my whole goddamn heart though, because for him to say it like that?? not âAFO will kill youâ, but âAFO will take you away from me.â he canât have nice things anymore because of AFO. he canât be around the people he loves because AFO will hurt them. he canât have happiness because AFO will take it away from him. anyway so where the fuck is AFO right now, motherfucker I just want to talk.)
by the way can Ojiro just extend his tail to whatever fucking length he wants or what because itâs like twelve feet long in this panel lol
WOOO FUCK YEAH TOKOYAMI
YOU LOVE TO SEE IT!! BUT WHEREâS YOUR FLASHBACK? YOUâVE HAD A BUNCH OF INTERACTIONS WITH HIM, THATâS NOT FAIR
okay so now Satouâs stepping in which is back to my anticipated order, so maybe Toko will finish his little moment afterward
dskfjfkk
âREMEMBER THAT TIME DEKU BORROWED SATOUâS FOOD COLORINGâ Horikoshi says, sweating. âAND REMEMBER THAT TIME HE, UM, SMILED IN HAGAKUREâS GENERAL DIRECTIONâ
actually I am curious about what Hagakureâs part will be because, you know, the whole traitor thing lol
(ETA: funny how we just skipped right over it huh. can we get a traitor reveal countdown started here? definitely getting close to that time.)
whoa lol wtf
MOMO??? THIS HAS MOMO WRITTEN ALL OVER IT DAMMIT
-- SWEET MOTHER OF FUCK
âSORRY MIDORIYA-SAN, I LEFT MY FUCKING CHILL AT HOME IN THE LOCKER NEXT TO IIDAâS HELMETâ holy shit lmao
and here I thought sheâd get a flashback to her time on the Baku Rescue Squad or something. but nope, no flashbacks from Momo, only terrifying sci-fi torture devices
poor Dark Shadow is such a trooper omg
âwhy am I the only one who has to make prolonged contact with his smelly disgusting selfâ taking one for the team there DS
FUCK YEAHÂ KAMINARI NO JUTSU
THE PRICKLY BASTARD WHISPERER STRIKES AGAIN!! donât suppose you brought any clean clothes you could sneakily force him into huh Kami
okay here we go, so now Shouji and Tokoyami are joining forces
um excuse me this is fucking awesome
wonder how heâll break free? donât think heâll reveal Fa Jin until the end of the chapter, so maybe Air Force or something? idk
TOKO GETS AN EXTENDED MOMENT BECAUSE HE IS A TIER TWO PATREON REWARD LEVEL FRIEND YAY
WHY IS MOMO MAKING THIS FACE LOL YOUR THING WAS WAY WORSE
and Shouji just casually hitting him with what is easily the best comment from anyone yet. too bad Dekuâs just gonna ignore it. you deserve better Shouji
KAMINARI OMFG
it only just occurred to me that Kami is currently trapped inside Dark Shadow right along with him lmao omg. realest one in the entirety of BnHA, right here. we will never forget your sacrifice
aaaaaaand Dekuâs yeeting himself
do you really hate the thought of taking a bath that much my dude
oh shit the mask!!
-- oh shit the feels
o(TăTo)
fuck. and I mean, we knew he was crying, that was a done deal. but still, to see him in this much pain is just...
and the acknowledgement that he knows theyâre worried about him, but that it doesnât change his mind one bit. this, right here, is why they have to be a bit harsh with him, you guys. because theyâre up against the full, unbridled stubbornness of Midoriya fucking Izuku, and if they donât match that stubbornness with an equal stubbornness of their own, they basically donât stand a chance
(ETA: quick note that there is apparently another mistranslation here -- rather than saying that his friends are oblivious to the danger, what Deku is actually saying is that none of his friends have activated his Danger Sense once throughout this entire fight. which I had been wondering about, and it turns out Horikoshi actually confirmed it. so basically none of the kids bears any ill intent toward him, and thereâs literal proof right there.
incidentally, as @class1akidsâ pointed out, this also casts an interesting light on this chapter in terms of who hasnât fought Deku yet. not to play the Hagakure Traitor Music for the billionth time you guys, but IâM JUST SAYING lol.)
anyway, but the good news is that they all seem to understand that. and the even better news is that we have reached the tier 3 friends!!
âOR ELSEâ lol, great to see Shouto wielding his friendship just as aggressively as Deku once did towards him. I do love a good role reversal
p.s., ANTICIPATED DISCOURSE: âwhy is Shouto being so cruel to Deku canât he see how hard this is on himâ
PREEMPTIVE REBUTTAL: this is a callback to the classic âeven heroes cry when they have toâ Shouto line from chapter 137. Shouto is clearly following Kacchanâs lead here and going for the more ruthless approach, knowing that the gentle approach isnât getting through to him (if anything itâs only making him more stubborn as we saw on the previous page). basically itâs his way of pointing out that even heroes are still only human, and so is Deku last time he checked
ah okay, and there Tsuyu is at last
okay real talk, I get why Tsuyu is included in the tier 3 friends, because she was one of the first people to team up with Deku going all the way back to USJ. but that said, this probably would have had more impact if their most recent interaction hadnât been like 150 chapters ago
but anyway though itâs still a good speech. maybe not quite a cliffhanger-level speech, but a good speech nonetheless. in a way though, Iâm glad to see that Horikoshi seemingly didnât give a fuck whether he ended this on an actual cliffhanger or not for once
and that âheaded toward the climaxâ part has me excited too, ngl. because if we really are getting to the so-called climax this soon, that makes me even more certain that there is indeed a DvK3 in the forecast. so I presume that next week (or I guess two weeks from now) will be the tier 3s along with the remaining tier 2s like Kirishima and Aoyama
and then after that, well... [orange and green banners being hoisted] [sound of screeching airhorns and vuvuzelas in the distance] [sound of All Might approaching in his car which I didnât notice until I looked back at this page a second time whoops] THE PROPHECY WILL NOT BE DENIED

Invisible String (13/15)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female reader (Modern AU)
Word Count: 2.2k words
Warning : angst, violence, sad reader, sad Bucky, shitty Rumlow, maybe Steve isnât that bad, the doughnuts are back from chapter 11, did I mention angst?, angst, more angst
Everything was dark, you noticed. When you slowly returned to consciousness, you half expected to be in your bed with Bucky tangled beside you, just like in your dreams. He fit so perfectly in your bed â your life and you, as if he was a part of you, and you weren't sure where he ended and where you began.Â
But when you moved to stretch your aching limbs, they moved a few inches before halting by some sort of restriction. Instantly, the bubble of your dreams burst, and everything came to your mind, and you abruptly looked around to find him. Bucky was still unconscious â tied to a chair, but instead of rope like yours, he was tied down with manacles. He had restraints on his wrists and ankles. You were sort of offended that they didnât think you were strong enough to be captured like him. Not that you wanted those manacles anywhere near your body, but you preferred not to be treated as if you were meek.
What could be worse than getting kidnapped? It's definitely getting rekidnapped with the person who came to rescue you. Clint lied, he was working with Rumlow. His source was nothing but an ambush for Bucky. There were more than 4 of Rumlowâs men in the warehouse. Clint lied so that Bucky would come under prepared and he fell right into the trap. Â
Earlier, it was just you in a room alone, but now it was you and Bucky in a dingy cell-like room with a closed door. He was still knocked out when the man known as Rumlow walked in. You recalled him from the time he came to the club, and you wanted nothing more than to run towards the safe embrace of your lover.Â
âWell, well, what do we have here?â Rumlowâs steps halted when he was near your tied form. His hand came for your cheek and naturally, you recoiled away. Your rejection didnât deter him, it only fueled his fury more as he held your chin tightly in his other hand and made you look at him. You attempted to get out of his grasp, which only angered him more, and he struck his hand to your face. It ached so much and it was so loud that it jolted Bucky up.Â
âWill you look at that,â Rumlow mocked, pushing your face away from his hold. âLover boy can feel her pain.â
It took a second for Bucky to drink in the sight and commemorate everything. Once everything came back to him, he looked at you deplorably, his eyes filled with concern and guilt as he saw the blood dripping down your face.
âGet away from her, Rumlow!â Bucky seethed when his gaze was back at the man who hurt you. Despite the warning, Rumlow moved more towards you. One hand running his knuckles on your face in an attempt to be soothing, while the other held your chin in a painful grip.
âWhy do you get to keep such a pretty thing all to yourself?â Rumlow asked rhetorically. âI should get a taste too.â
Before Bucky could try to do something, a knock on the door attracted everyoneâs attention. Clint came in with a look of victory on his face.
âYou betraying son of a bitch,â you hissed. Unlike Bucky, you didnât have much self-restraint or any wise escape plan cooking in your head. âWhy the fuck did you do it?â
âYouâre new, sweetheart,â Clint pointed out, his tone condescending. âYou don't know how it works.âÂ
âWhat I know is that your wife is friends with Wanda's girlfriend,â you retorted back immediately. You were tired of being seen as weak. âHow will she feel when she finds out that you betrayed Bucky?â
A look of uncertainty came over Clint's face and you continued, âI might be new, sweetheart, but Iâm not dumb.â
When Clint was astounded, Rumlow spoke up,â Ah, the power of pillow talk. You are one feisty little bitch. What else did he tell you? Did he tell you that his work is not illegal and he sells weapons to the government?â
You looked at Bucky, hoping that the man you knew and loved was nothing like this monster who assaulted you. Rumlow continued, âBarnes, Rogers and I started this whole a business together. They enjoyed the money that was brought in with our illegal escapade. He enjoyed girls like you every day. Until one day, the childhood buddies decided it was time to go clean. And they just left us in pursuit of some dream life.â
You didnât know what to say, so you just looked over at Bucky who was staring at the floor as if waiting for it to open and swallow him whole. Was he ashamed of his past? Did he think that his past would make you love him any less? If he did, then he was highly mistaken because now you didn't see James as your arrogant boss. Now you saw a young boy who made some questionable choices and, to make a better life for himself and his family, he changed his direction. Now you saw a reckless boy who did stupid shit in his past like everyone in the world and instead of letting it define him, he made a better life for himself. Now you saw a hardworking boy who worked his ass off to build an empire for himself and his loved ones. All of these versions of him existed before you, but you only saw one â the one that mattered to you at least, you just saw the love of your life, your Bucky.
The universe might have listened to your pleas because Rumlowâs phone rang and both he and Clint exited the room. You didnât know how to start a conversation with Bucky. He didn't want to, that you were sure of. What were you supposed to say? That his hardship and past made him look hotter in your eyes? You wanted to avoid romanticizing his struggles, so you resorted to the only thing you do when you are tense.
âThis is not the lunch date I had in mind,â you teased, forcefully huffing to make the situation seem less intense. When Bucky did not respond or even looked at you, you retorted to another antic. âI remember that song name, you know â Invisible String. Taylor Swift, of course. It would make an excellent bakery name. We can -â
âWe can what?â Bucky finally snapped, âYou want me to fire my friends and convert the most profitable club into a fucking bakery, huh?âÂ
âIs that what you want? A life with a man who got you involved in this shit?â you flinched at his harsh words. You knew this wasnât your Bucky â your Bucky was all about sweet touches, teasing words and passionate kisses. No, this was the Bucky that Rumlow recognized.Â
âYou donât mean that,â you whispered, your tone gentle. âIâm sorry you're stuck here because of me, but -â
He cut you off. âDoll,â he exhaled, his voice devoid of all the venom present a moment ago, It was filled with the adoration towards you that you were used to; Nonetheless, it still made you feel dizzy all the time. His face softened before saying, âThis isnât your fault. Itâs mine. I got you into this mess. I should have stayed away from you.â
You opened your mouth to object. You wanted to tell him that he was being stupid â that you would get through this together, but he sustained.
âI will stay away from you,â he pondered, his eyes avoiding yours again.Â
No, you wouldn't let that happen. You finally had him, and you wouldn't let Rumlow get into Bucky's head. âWeâll talk about this later, okay?â
âThere is nothing to talk about,â he concluded, âWhen we are out of here. I will maintain my distance.â
You tried to ask him to stop saying that, but he kept ignoring your words and looked at the wall behind you for almost an hour. When it got to your nerves, and you were starting to get pissed he started whistling a song you werenât quite familiar with. âSeriously? How old are you? Five?â
He didnât respond. âSo what? You're just gonna ignore me while weâre tied here?â
âHey, let's play a game,â you tried again.
Before you could lose all your patience and start yelling at him, you heard grunting sounds from behind the door. You shuddered, swallowing the lump in your throat. You didnât want to see Rumlow again, in fact, you never wanted to see Rumlow.
Sensing your discomfort made Bucky finally speak up. âY/N, look at me,â his voice sweet as ever, as if he hadn't been ignoring you for the past hour. You looked at him, and he held your gaze, assuring you, âI wonât let anyone hurt you again.â
You nodded, not trusting yourself to speak anything. Both of you held your breath, waiting for someone to walk in and hurt you more, but it never came. All that came was a blond man with a gun in his hand, whom you recognized instantly â Steve. You didn't like that man one bit because he clearly disliked you, but at that moment, he was your angel who came to your rescue.
Immediately, Steve ran towards his pal who nodded his head towards you, indicating his friend to let you out of the restraint first. Again, he had manacles around his wrists and limbs, and he wanted you to be free of the rope that was around you. Steve took his friendâs request and freed you of your restriction before doing the same for Bucky.
When you stood up, the world stood up with you, and you realized that you hadnât eaten anything in more than 24 hours. You almost collapsed on the floor when two strong hands came to your relief and held you. You didnât need to keep your eyes open to see who it was. Likewise, you knew it was Bucky â you could recognize his touch anywhere, and just liked that you passed out.
The next time you gained awareness, you were moving swiftly. It took you a few seconds to acknowledge that you were in a car. You craned your neck upward to find your head situated on a hard and firm chest, Bucky looked down at you and engulfed you tighter to his side, your legs resting on his lap while his free hand was settled on the back of your thigh, holding you closer to him.Â
âDoll,â his voice was barely audible, and you wouldn't have heard it if you weren't so close to him or if he didn't whisper it in your ear. âYou gotta eat something.â
Tiredly, you nodded and Bucky nudged you softly, encouraging you to straighten up a little before eating something. You straightened your back and somebody passed a box from the passenger seat. Steve, you recognized him and the person in the driver's seat â Sam. Both of them looked at you sympathetically, and you smiled at them, or at least tried to. You were so exhausted.
Bucky opened the box and took out a doughnut, which you brought for him that morning, or was it the previous morning? How long had it been since you were kidnapped?
Two doughnuts and one bottle of water later, you were back at your apartment. Buckyâs hand rested on the small of your back as Steve and Sam followed both of you. You hesitated before unlocking the door, and Bucky ran his hand on your back reassuringly as he ensured you, âIâve got you, doll.â
Bucky said something to Sam and Steve, but you were too exhausted to listen. Once they were gone, Bucky strode towards you, cupping your face in his hands as he scanned your face for all the wounds. âHow about you clean up, and Iâll get the first aid kit. Okay, doll?â
Just like the whole night or day or whatever time it was, you didn't remember most of the bath. You remembered going into the shower â you remembered water running down your body â you remembered seeing red water (probably from your bruises) seeping in the drain â you remembered seeing someone in the mirror you didn't recognize â you remembered falling to the floor and crying and most importantly you remembered calling for Bucky.
As if standing outside the door, Bucky was crouched over you instantly . He wrapped a towel around your naked form and held you on the bathroom floor while you cried and finally acknowledged the trauma that you had encountered.
Bucky held you as you continued to cry in muffled sobs against his chest. When you fell asleep, he placed you and tucked you in your bed comfortably before getting in himself. You wrapped your arms around him in your sleep and held him like the anchor he was to you. Bucky pressed a kiss in your hair and whispered his love and apologies to you for pulling you into his messed up life. You couldn't fathom a word he confessed before sleep finally engulfed you.

youâre definitely flirting with me
âjason todd x villain!reader
second and final part to are you flirting with me. can be read as a stand-alone tho
navi | bat boys m.list | are you flirting with me
content â language, blood, mentions of harassment, mildly suggestive (use of the word âdaddyâ but ironically)
notes â i know that its literally been years and that i formerly posted a part two to are you flirting with me, but looking back, i didn't like how it turned out. i did find a fun drabble in my drafts with villain!reader as well, so i decided to rewrite it and use it as a continuation. i actually deleted the old parts personally, i prefer this version of the end!
"I'm in."
"Hot. You should be able to seeâ"
"Nothing?"
Silence.
"Is this your way of telling me you're visually impaired?"
"I will scoop your eyes out in your sleep."
"Please use an ice cream scooper. My eyeballs would fit so well, it would be so satisfyingâ"
"Harper."
"Okay, okay. What do you mean nothing?"
"By nothing I mean nothing, ball sack. The warehouse is fucking empty."
Frantic rustling of papers and violent knocking of objects could be heard on Roy's end of the line. Jason sighed, going to pinch the bridge of his nose before realizing he had a helmet on.Â
The whole situation was throwing him off his rhythm â that much was evident. The intel they had collected on the gang of criminals seemed too obvious, too predictable. Jason had his suspicions, but Roy was quick to shut him down. 'Dude, trust me,' he said. Famous last words.
A crackle of static sounded in his earpiece. Roy's voice urgent and choppy before completely dying out. Jason could only attempt to call out to his partner in the hopes of a full response, but his efforts brought no avail. That's another thing that went wrong today.
"Hey, sexy."
What in the fuck.
"Your ass looks great from this angle. The party you're looking for is in a bar on the other side of the city, by the way."
You couldn't actually see him, but he doesn't need to know that. It's just your thing to mess with him, and by the sounds of him cussing you out for hacking into his means of communication, it was working. It was amusing. He kept you entertained.
That was all you had to say to him for now though, so you bid him goodbye. The roaring of his motorcycle over his colorful language directed at you was the last thing you heard before you cut off and allowed his partner to get back on the line.
"Jaybird? You there?"
"Ah, you're back. I'm never trusting you with getting intel again."
"Whatever. Anyway, was that...?"
"Yeah. Y/v/n."
"Hm. I don't know what she's on, but you have no ass likeâ"
"And yet I have more ass than you, so shut the fuck up, paddle board."
âThat... That was a bit harsh, bro.â
Soft gushes of wind blew against your masked face. You shut your eyes, feeling the breeze and relishing in your little moment of peace. Lazily pacing, you hummed a random tune.
Your mischief and cunningness is something your alias was known for. Most often, it's a convenient trait to be able to slip around with ease and get the job done in a snap, but sometimes you get bored. It can be such a drag when nobody tries a confrontation with you. That's why you're so fond of the Red Hood. It's a shame that it's been a while since you've seen him around, so imagine your delight when you feel a familiar presence behind you.
You took a seat at the edge of the building. To anyone, you would've looked like you were having your main character moment, peacefully looking over the city if not for the small pile of bodies rotting away not too far from you. The dried blood on your attire and your fingers no longer irked you in the slightest. It's something you've gotten used to, which lead to your habit of picking the blood under your nails. Red gets annoyed when you do this â all the more reason to entertain your habit in front of him.
You let your legs dangle over the edge without a care. You didn't bother to greet the vigilante, who currently had a gun aimed at your back. Sigh.
âOh, I do hate the sight of blood.â
âWell then, maybe â just maybe â you shouldnât kill for a living.â
That got you to turn your head to face him. You cock an eyebrow â doesnât he kill for a living too? Sure, his victims are usually criminals and thugs while yours are people youâre paid to target, usually business owners and the occasional politician, but you digress. Details. The point is, he kills people too.
A few seconds of staring and prolonging the tension passed, and Jason weighed his options before eventually putting down his gun. He then opted to join you on the ledge.
âSo,â he started, âwhatâs your favorite color?â
Funny.
âSweetheart, if you thought youâd be able to keep me entertained with small talk... I think Iâd rather you shot me.â
You stood up from your spot on the ledge and leaned over the rooftop to examine your altitude. You grin to yourself.
âWhat are you doing?â
You donât answer. You want to see something. Instead you turn your body to face Jason and mockingly salute him before leaping off the building, though not before you heard him call out your aliasâ name and yell a panicked âWait!â
Immediately after you, Jason followed. You chuckled when you saw him get closer. You enjoyed fooling him around almost as much as you enjoyed fooling around with him.
With no time to waste, he pulled out his grappling hook, yanked your body by the waist, and zipped to the rooftop of the nearest building â one different from the last one you were on.
Jasonâs heaving chest radiated distress.
âYouâre fucking insane! You could have died!â
You stood in front of him, arms crossed and your stance relaxed. Nobody wouldâve suspected that you literally jumped off a building just a few seconds ago. Aw, you pout, he cares about me.
âWouldâve made your job easier. You know, you heroes are supposed to get rid of the bad guys.âThereâs humor in your eyes. Jason knows youâre enjoying this. He hates how much you enjoy this. âSo, whyâd you save me?â
âWhyâd you help me with my mission last time?â
Heâs deflecting. Cute.
âHey, I asked you a question first.â You know he wonât budge til you give him an answer. Heâs probably been asking himself that question since it happened. You mentally pout, aww he thinks of me. Sigh. Okay, fine.
âThe gang you were after just so happened to have given me a job a little while ago.â You recall some of the gang members attempting to grope you. Some unpleasant memories youâd rather live without. âPissed me off. Now your turn.â
Whyâd you save me?
A pause. He shifted to look to the side. Oh, this is interesting.
âYou could have died.â Ah, this again.
âWell, youâve died,â you remind him. âNot that it really stuck.â
He says your name â your real name. You wonder when he discovered your identity, but then again, youâre not all that surprised. Itâs him after all.
He can see your growing smile the longer he refuses to answer your question. He knows youâre already thinking of something, and still opts to ignore your question, allowing you to further indulge in your thoughts. He dreads you enlightening him; he knows itâs coming. Jason could not fathom how one woman could frustrate him so much.
âYou like me.â There it is, he thinks. Thereâs your stupid smirk and your dumb air of arrogance.
âCome on, just admit it, hot shot. You canât live without me.â Okay, maybe that oneâs a bit of a stretch (just a bit), but you stand by it nonetheless.
You grin wide as you approach him. Leaning slightly forward to grab Jason by the collar and pull him down to meet your eyes, you repeat yourself.
âYou like me.â Stated with more emphasis, like a significant fact that you try to drill into your head when studying for an exam.
âIâll shoot you.â
âPlease, daddy.â

WAHHH TYSM ANON <33 IM SO HAPPY HEHE, and phew yall thought asshole kise was something but... have yall heard of TEIKO-era asshole kise??! NO?? dw, bc heâs debuting here // i wanted to really showcase his dual sides through more of dialogue (so we wonât really see whatâs in Kiseâs mind for this), so here it is hope you enjoy this anon!Â
Kise x Reader
Prompt: âWeâre not just friends and you fucking know it.â
Word Count: 2120
prompt list here
»»âââââăâŒăâââââ««
âWeâre not just friends and you fucking know it, Kise.â
âHuh?â he mocks with a condescending tone. âI didnât peg you as someone whoâd pull shit out of their ass like my last âex-girlfriend.â Just because I let you hang around me doesnât mean you can parade around campus with an inflated ego.â
Your hands shake furiously at your sides, trying not to punch the basketball player square in the face.
âMe? With an ego? Look whoâs damn talking!â you seethe. âIâm tired of the fact that we keep playing this stupid flirting game for months, only for it to go absolutely nowhere!â
âHave you ever stopped to use your brain and think about how flirting inherently is done in good casual fun?â Kise explains slowly, implying that you were the immature one in the situation. âMeanwhile, you have the audacity to get mad at me when youâre the one whoâs using me for your own selfish gain!â Kise sends a heated glare but his eyes were tinged with betrayal.
âWhat the hell are you even talking about? Are you out of your mind?â
âFuck this,â he scoffs, throwing his hands up in mock surrender. âIâm leaving, Iâm not dealing with this shit anymore. If you want attention, Iâm not gonna entertain you anymore.â
âNo, you will not leave!â you yell, trying to stop Kise in his tracks. He merely ignores you as he holds up a hand to do a wave with his back to you. âYouâre going to explain what the hell you were talking about!â
You sprinted and held onto his sleeve to tug him back to face you, only to be met by the most bone-chilling gaze from him. You wouldâve absolutely cowered in his presence if it wasnât for the fact that you were irrationally angry from the false accusations Kise threw at you prior. You can definitely tell that Kise was biting his inner cheek to keep himself reasonably calm.
âRyĆta,â you say.
âDonât call me by my first name anymore,â he says flatly.
âWhere did you get the idea that I was using you?â
âHah! Why? Does it matter? Are you gonna go to them and try to threaten them after? Itâs so clear from the way youâre talking right now that you only see me as a prize to show off.â You inhale a huge breath to stop yourself from saying something youâll regret.
âI never saw you as some object, RyĆta,â you mildly scoff. âLet me make myself clear. All I wanted was a clear answer from you every time I asked you if you wanted something serious, but every single damn time, you changed the subject or never answered the question!â
âItâs all done in good fun. Does it really need to be serious?â
âBut I want something serious with you!â
Kise merely turns away in silence, but you can see his body slightly tremble.
â... RyĆta?â
âDonât lie to me like thatâŠâ he says, slightly sucking a breath. â... Look, if you really wanna use me to boost your popularity, just⊠just come clean, okay? Iâll go along with it if you tell me now. After all, weâve been⊠good friends.â
âLie? Why would I lie? I never thought once of using you or having any motives other than to get to know you personally as a friend, RyĆta,â you say, looking down on the grip you had on his sleeve still.
âWhat reason is there to know someone like this other than to activate a ticking time bomb while playing a game to pass that time? Isnât that how itâs always been? Isnât that what we are right now?â
Your senses tell you that something deeper beyond this surface argument has been troubling him. You slowly let go of his sleeve, before turning away with a sigh, leaving Kise absolutely confused.
âI think we both need to cool our heads,â you sigh. âWeâve both said too much, and⊠just⊠forget what I said, okay? And Iâll forget about what you told me.â Kiseâs eyes widen at your statement.
â(y/n)-cchiâŠ?â
âWe can still do light-hearted banter like we always do the next time we see each other, okay Kise?â Your fists on your sides tremble before you hold up your head to give him a cheerful smile thatâs eerily all too familiar to his own. You turn to walk away, but his heart squeezes painfully at the sight of your back to him like this. Youâre so far from him. So far.
âHold it, nowâŠâ he says, slightly sprinting to catch up to you. He grabs your hand, still balled tightly by your side. âYouâre cruel, you know that? Demanding me not to leave but then leaving the conversation on your own accord? Youâre a hypocrite.â He spins you around to see your eyes barely struggling to hold back fresh tears. Little did he know that your countenance was a mirror to his own.
â... Our heads arenât in the right place, Kise. You should probably let go.â
âI probably should, huhâŠâ he says, but still giving no sign that he was actually going through with it.
âKnowing you, youâd really hold my fist until someone has to actually separate you from me.â
âAnd knowing you, youâd probably punch me before anyone else had the chance to do so.â
âYou know me so well, hm?â you muse, a tiny curl of your lip a different world than the one you gave moments before.
â... No,â he says with a slight frown. âI donât think I know you well enough.â
âI donât know you enough either, Kise.â
Silence falls between the two of you, frail as thin ice, before you eventually break it.
â... Youâre right, this whole friendship we have right now⊠itâs a time bomb. Itâs bound to fail and fall apart.â
âW-Wait,â Kise slightly says in shock. âThat was⊠I didnât mean it likeââ
âNo healthy relationship of any kind would last if we keep dancing around each other like this. I wanna be honest with you for once⊠I⊠donât wanna do this banter anymore. I donât wanna do these flirting games. Iâm kinda tired of it. Especially when you always keep me at a distance.â
âPfft, (y/n)-cchi,â he snorts loudly, flashing his sunny smile. âIâm practically so close to you holding your hand!â
âYou know exactly what I mean,â you sigh, and you avert your gaze away. âYou feel so far. I just⊠you feel so out of reach even when Iâm in the same room as you⊠even as of now. I just want to know where weâll end up.â
You firmly shake his grip off you, watching his hand falling back to his side as he does nothing but stare at you. You donât know if heâs angry, offended, or shocked, but whatever his expression was, you couldnât tell, not when you still stared at the concrete to the side rather than at him.
âOf course I wanna be friends with you,â you continue. âBut can you blame me for believing that thereâs something more between us when we do romantic gestures and flirting for months on end? If weâre just going to be friends, thatâs fine, but Iâd prefer if youâd also stop addressing me with -cchi, just to draw a clear boundary between us.â You finally look up to see Kise, but to your own shock, he looks quite bitter.
âYou say that youâre confused about what we are, but then you go prattle to everyone else that youâre my significant other when we havenât even talked a single thing about being a serious thing. Youâre so fucking confusing.â
âI⊠did no such thing?â Your eyes, still puffy from the tear ducts, shine in genuine bewilderment.
âYou⊠didnât?â
âAre you kidding me? Are you fucking kidding me right now?â
âI⊠um⊠ohâŠâ All he could do was to stand there completely stupefied, mouth gaping as multiple realizations suddenly hit him like bricks. He rubs his neck as he shamefully looks away.
âSo tell me,â you slowly say, giving him a more bone-chilling gaze than the one he gave you. âWhat exactly have you been hearing in the hallways?â You both stand there in silence again as Kise struggles to think of a way to explain it without sounding completely dumb.
âOkay, look⊠Iâm sorry⊠I shouldnât have listened to the rumors so easily, especially since I despise them too, but⊠they were about you, and I just couldnât help myselfâŠâ he mumbles. âI donât know, I⊠the thought of you getting close to me to use me really, really hurts.â
âAnd you thought just cutting me off on the spot was the most reasonable decision you can think of?â
âH-HeyâŠ! Donât put it like that! I thought I knew you well, but when I heard what people gossiped, my mind just went somewhere, and I thought maybe I misread you at some point. If you really did have ulterior motives, cutting you off wouldnât be as easy as that other girl. Because I⊠w-wait! Where are you going?!â
âHome, Kise,â you flatly say. âItïżœïżœïżœs after school after all.â
âAt least hear what I have to say!â He tries to catch up with you, but you only speed walk to outpace him. âLet me explain myself!â
âHypocrite~â you say, using Kiseâs mocking voice. âI donât recall you letting me explain myself in the beginning.â
â(y/n)-cchi, Iâm sorry! Iâll pay for all the outings weâll do this week! And um⊠Iâll always talk to you if somethingâs bothering meâdonât ignore me!â
âDidnât I tell you not to use -cchi?â you sigh, stopping abruptly, causing Kise to accidentally bump against you. âIâll forgive you, but weâre still only friends. I guess Iâll apologize for assuming things on my end, too.â Kise drops his head on your shoulder from behind, and you only roll your eyes in amusement at the familiar contact. âOh dear, Kise. I didnât think you were the type to be so clingy after a fight.â
âOkay, Iâll âfess up,â he says, voice muffled by your uniform blazer. âEven though weâve always gotten along so well, thereâs always been a part of me whoâs been on the lookout for any possible signs that you only saw me for my reputation. While I enjoyed having you around, I had always been ready to cut you off if I saw anything suspicious, but⊠lately the thought of letting you go ached so much⊠and then I heard what the other students were talking about⊠how you were acting the entire time⊠how you somehow screwed over other people before⊠couldnât really think properly after that.â
âBoo hoo,â you huff. âDo you want a kiss to make you feel better?â
â... I actually do.â
âI think our heads havenât completely cooled down. Iâm going ahead.â You were about to walk away, even though you very much enjoyed his head on your shoulder, but his arms wrap around you to stop moving any further from his side.
âYou said that you wrongly assumed what we wereâŠâ he whispers. âBut youâre actually right. Weâve been more than friends for a while without me really acknowledging it,â he chuckles at your groan, âI guess you really do know me well⊠Iâm really attached to you⊠but itâs not fair that youâre so collected even when Iâm hugging you like this.â
âKise, youâre an idiot, do you know that?â you snort. âHow are you hugging me but not noticing how fast my heart is beating?â
âH-Hey! Can you call me by my first name again? I said it without really thinking, okay? It hurts me every time you do that.â He gives the most comical pout, but you only punch the top of his head on your shoulder before walking ahead.
âIâm still mad at you. Iâm going home.â
â(y/n)-cchi, w-wait! Let me walk you home, then!â
âDonât call me that either. Iâm still mad at you.â
âBut arenât we dating now? I can call you that if weâre a thing.â
âBut Iâm still mad. You still said all those horrible things, and that stung. You think youâre the only one hurting right now?â
âIâm really, really sorry! Iâll make it up to you, and I wonât say anything like that again, andâŠâ
âYouâre not being really convincing.â
âI know I was being immature and the one with the inflated ego, and I said things that arenât remotely trueââ
You sigh before you turn back to a panicking Kise behind you.
âThen you better make it up to me by cuddling me and telling me some sweet nothings, because I can really use that right now, RyĆta.â

Sage with a male s/o dork (dumb but loveable)? đ
This is only a drabble, but it just popped into my head and I found it cute, so I hope you enjoy! (Honestly I don't know if you meant something like this, I interpreted dumb as clumsy.)
"What did I say about skulking around on the piers?" Sage's voice boomed behind him, but you could hear a hint of amusement in his tone.
He turned around slowly, like he was caught doing something he wasn't supposed to. Which he was. Sage was standing a few feet away from him, with his hands on his hips, looking at him with a raised eyebrow and a smirk.
After the first day as Sage's apprentice, when he accidentally fell in the sea, he was told to avoid the piers althogether. Mostly because Sage, Anisa and Felix quickly realized how clumsy and accident-prone he was.
But, what if there's a shiny fish he wanted to check out, like now?
"Uh...", he made his way to Sage, careful not to trip on the wooden boards beneath his feet.
Sage watched him closely. "Come on, we have something to finish before we get back."
He nodded at Sage and then followed him.
As they made their way through the bustling streets filled with vendors and people, he kept close to Sage, not wanting to get lost like he did a few days prior. I mean, strictly speaking, it wasn't his fault. Sage walks pretty quickly and besides, there are a lot of interesting things in the shop windows that you can't find on Earth. Curiosity simply got the best of him.
"Where are we going?" he asked as they were coming down a less-crowded street.
"I have to get something from a friend.", Sage replied, being vague as usual.
"Does this friend hold a grudge?" he asked. "Because, I'm kinda sensing a pattern with you and I'm starting to wonder if you have any friends at all. Except Anisa and Felix."
"Of course I have more friends than the two of them.", Sage huffed.
He stopped and turned around to face him. "I have you too, don't I?"
He rolled his eyes in response, ignoring the pain in his chest upon hearing Sage call him only his friend.
"Don't be a smartass.", he added when Sage turned around and started walking again.
"I may not be smart...", Sage started and then turned around again with a wicked grin. "But, have you seen my ass?"
He couldn't help but laugh at the absurd comment, shaking his head at Sage who was grinning proudly.
In a few more minutes, they were standing in the living room of a stranger, who apparently was Sage's friend indeed because he didn't try to stab him upon seeing his face. She had horns on his head, which looked polished and sharp. She was towering over Sage, which was feat in itself, and all in all, she looked quite intimidating.
They talked about a weapon of some kind, with hushed voices and without much sense, but the friend quickly agreed to lend it to Sage. It was surprising that one thing was actually going their way.
She made her way to the doors on the other side of the room, pulling a ring of keys which looked quite hefty, and swiftly picked the one she needed. The keys jangled as she unlocked the doors and then pushed them open. It looked like the doors were leading through a dark hallway, but before she let them get past them, she turned to Sage.
"I can't let your companion go in with us. He stays here.", she said it with a tone which signalled that this was not up for debate.
Sage looked at him apologetically. "Sorry. Rules are rules."
He nodded at Sage. "It's fine. I'll wait here."
"Don't go anywhere.", Sage instructed before following her in the dim, creepy hallway.
The doors closed behind them and then you could hear a definite click which locked the doors again.
He could finally look around the place, since he was more focused on the weird creature before than he was focused on the living room he was standing in.
It was bare, with old, yellowed walls and one sole carpet that looked like it was stained and burned. The furniture was sparse as well, and it generally looked like a house that hasn't accomodated many visitors. Something also gave out a feeling that the owner liked it better that way.
Against one wall, there were wooden stairs without railings, worn out and uneven, that led to the attic. When he looked up, he could see the wooden boards of the attic and the small spaces between them. Curiosity got the best of him again and he got an inexplicable urge to check out what's up there. He looked from the locked doors where Sage disappeared to, back to the planks of the attic, and decided he had a minute or two to see what's up there without getting caught.
He carefully climbed up the stairs, staying close to the wall since there was no railing to hold on to. As he finally came up, he was disappointed. Old, scattered boxes, broken chairs and various pieces of worn-out fabrics filled the room. This wasnât mysterious at all - it was actually pretty boring. He expected she had some sort of magical objects or cool weapons stashed here, but there were none. Sighing, he decided to get back down before they get back.
But, as he made his way to the stairs, he heard the door on the bottom floor unlock and what he recognized as Sageâs footsteps.
Sage called out his name. âWhere are you?â
âYouâre not gonna like my answer.â, he replied from the middle of the attic, knowing that Sage could hear him as clearly as he heard him.
There was some muttering, which sounded like a string of course words, and then a heavy sigh. âDonât you dare move!â
âWhy not?â as he asked that, he made a step towards the stairs and suddenly heard a loud creak from the floorboards.
Before either of them could react, the floor beneath him splintered into pieces and he fell through the hole. Much to his surprise, he had a soft landing and didnât feel any pain.
And that was all thanks to Sage, who was laying on the floor beneath him.
Sage coughed, groaning. âThe attic... Itâs not safe...â
âYeah, I figured.â
As they both recovered, they realized the position they were laying in.
Sage smirked. âIf you wanted to ride me, all you had to do was ask.â
He dismounted Sage quickly and clumsily, laying on the floor beside him. âShut up.â
âSeriously, you should come with a warning label.â
âSo Iâve been told.â, he sighed. âIâm sorry. Again.â
Upon hearing his annoyed and almost sad tone, Sage moved to stand above him, holding himself up by the hands positioned on each side of his head on the floor. There was a moment of silence as they stared at each other.
Sage studied his face. âDonât be.â
He looked back at him, incredulous.
Sage smiled. âYou always keep me on my toes. Itâs never boring with you.â
Maybe it was what Sage said, or the fact that he was leaning above him, getting closer and closer, but he couldnât help but blush. He noticed Sage glancing at his lips and suddenly he had difficulty breathing as well.
Before either of them could change their mind, he raised up his head and closed the gap between them. Sage almost fell completely on top of him, losing himself in the kiss as well. As they pulled away from each other, they were both breathing heavily. Sage cupped his cheek tenderly and gave him another quick peck on the lips.
âSee? Never boring.â, Sage winked. âNow letâs go before she gets back and kills us for destroying her attic.â

Objection
Note: Iâm a sucker for AUs, so here is a Lawyer!Chris fic nobody asked for, the plot (or whatever) is veery loosely inspired by this book Iâm reading atm (The Hating Game) and by the the fact that Chris talking about lawyer stuff is incredibly hot to me
Warning: swearing (a lot), smut, Chris bashing (for the story line, pls donât take this seriously, I adore this man to death), NSFW, slight exhibitionism
Plus another warning, I am not a lawyer or trained in any other legal profession, so if there are inaccuracies in the way I used certain terms I am sorry
âObjection, your honor, this is hearsay!â you shouted, shooting a furious glance over to the defense table, and to the absolute menace standing in front of it.
Chris Cuomo. The most obnoxious, arrogant, loud-mouthed asshole you ever had the misfortune to meet in court. He was a senior partner at one of New Yorkâs most prestigious law firms, specialized on getting their wealthy clients out of everything from tax fraud to outright corruption.
This man stood for everything that, in your opinion, was wrong with the justice system and this country in general. Everything about him screamed elitist, boarding school, frat boy, preppy rich guy that had everything handed to him on a silver platter. He flaunted his famous last name around whenever he had the chance and it got him right to the top of the business.
You, on the opposite, went to law school on a scholarship, worked your ass of and now practiced law working for the district attorney to prosecute and convict the very people Cuomo tried to kept out of jail to afford the ridiculous Upper East Side Penthouse he probably had. You tried to push the fact that he was one of the most brilliant lawyers you knew aside, because you just hated him. No respect, no admiration for his legal genius, he was the bane of your existence fair and square.
You clashed heads in court more than once, and by now he knew exactly how to rile you up, smug bastard. His current client was accused of tax and investment fraud of incredible extent, and there he was, trying to discredit your main witness in front of the jury with some ridiculous accusations about them having a personal vendetta against the defendant. You saw your case crumbling in front of you as the witness got tangled up in Cuomoâs relentless questioning, stumbling over their own words, their credibility shrinking with each minute.
He did what he did best, lulling in people with his charm and striking when they least expected it. And he always did it with his disgusting smile on his disgustingly handsome face. Yes, of course he had to be a hot, fit, well-built asshole, making your professional life miserable at every chance he got.
Sometimes, he even had the audacity to wink at you. In court. During a trial. You wanted to punch him in his perfect face more than anything else.
The judge disrupted your thoughts.
âDismissed, Ms. Y/L/N, and mind your tone in my courtroom. And Mr. Cuomo, please keep your questions professional or this interrogation will be over.â The judge said, shooting the both of you a warning glance.
âNo more questions anyway, your honor, I think the jury heard it all.â Cuomo said, and almost strutted back to the defense table. And with a look over to the jury, you knew he was probably right. They eyed your witness suspiciously, and you almost wanted to stomp down out of pure rage. The fucker just destroyed your chance for a swift conviction right in front of your eyes. You needed more time to gather new evidence, or this would be over.
âYour honor, the prosecution is asking the court for adjournment.â You said, trying your best to not let your frustration show.
âGranted, the trial will be continued tomorrow. Court is dismissed.â
You put the case files into your bag and practically stormed out of the court room, passing the defense table without as much as a sideward glance.
But he caught up with you in the parking deck of the building.
âYouâre aware you canât win this one, right, Y/L/N? Itâs all circumstantial, even you should see that.â His smug voice suddenly said from behind you as you were just about to get into your car.
You whirled around, pulse hammering in your chest out of pure anger.
âThis is unprofessional even by your standards, Cuomo, Iâm not discussing this case with you in a parking lot. Now why donât you get into this environmental nightmare you call a car and leave me the hell alone.â You hissed, pointing over to where his obnoxiously big SUV was standing.
âDonât talk to me like that, Y/L/N, just because you canât handle yourself in court.â He said, smirk still firmly in place. His hands were playing with the car keys, and you were mesmerized for a second by how large his hands were. They looked like shovels.
âWhatever youâre plotting in that weird little brain of yours, stop staring at me.â Cuomo said, actually sounding a bit unsettled. You snapped out of it and went right back into anger mode.
âStaring at you? God, youâre so fucking full of yourself, arenât you, you condescending prick? Not everything revolves around you and your spoiled ass, Cuomo.â
âWho the fuck do you think youâre talking to, girl?â he snapped, raising his voice now. You clearly got to him, and seeing a crack in his arrogant façade gave you a satisfying sense of triumph. You couldnât stop now, even if his angry face was screaming danger.
âOh, Iâm so sorry, your highness, are you used to people worshipping the ground you walk on because you had the dumb luck to be born with the Cuomo name? Fun fact, nobody cares, youâre still an asshole, just with a fancy suit.â You really threw all caution away, and one look at Cuomo told you that youâve definitely gone too far.
Because he was livid. There was a vein on his temple that was literally pulsating, his hands were balled to fists at his side and his blue eyes were so full of fury that you were scared to look directly at him.
He took two giant steps in your direction, backing you up against your car. You were caught, Cuomoâs giant frame in front of you with no way to escape his wrath.
You looked up at him, daring to meet his eyes directly. He looked at you like he was about to kill you. You tried to recall your fury from some seconds ago, but the heat radiating from his body and the way his huge arms had you trapped on both sides of your head were making it impossible for you to focus. Damn him for being so attractive. You wanted to fight him, but you also wanted to press yourself against his body and feel what was underneath that suit.
âYou presumptuous littleâŠâ he spat, stopping himself before saying something truly insulting. He took a deep breath, and looked at you again. And then he saw it.
The way you were biting your lip, the way your pupils were dilated.
And he smiled, a cruel smirk that send shivers down your spine. He brought his face even closer to yours and dropped his voice.
âYou know, I got really good at reading people, comes with the job, I guess. But you are making it so easy for me, Y/L/N, look at you?â His mouth was at your ear now, his hot breath tickling your neck.
âDo you really want me to leave you alone? Doesnât seem like it to me.â
You could barely think straight anymore, you wanted to tell him to fuck off, but it just came out as an embarrassing, needy whimper.
He chuckled darkly, and goosebumps broke out all over your body. Why did this man, that you hated more than almost anyone else, reduce to a state of arousal you had never experienced before just by whispering in your ear? Your panties were already soaked, and he didnât even touch you. With your last few functioning brain cells, you cursed your needy, weak body, before you tiled your head to the side, baring your neck to Chris mouth.
He breathed over your skin, teasing you without actually touching. You felt like you were going insane.
âPlease.â You whispered.
âWhat? Use your words, darling.â
âKiss my neck, touch me, anything, just do it, asshole.â You hissed, glad you were able to form a coherent sentence.
âSo impolite.â He chuckled and pressed a kiss to the side of your neck before starting to suck lightly. You moaned softly and pressed your pelvis into his. You could feel his hardness through his slacks, his unaffected behavior was clearly an act, he was just as aroused as you were.
One of his hands went down to squeeze your ass hard, bringing another surge of wetness to your panties.
Seeing him getting into this gave you some of your courage back, and you started to grind against him, making him growl against your neck.
âIs that everything you got, Cuomo.â You asked, trying to rile him up a bit. You really enjoyed the way he was manhandling you, as much as it pained you to admit it. But his hands were wandering under your skirt now, so you might as well just go with it.
Your provocative behavior clearly had the desired effect on him, because he grabbed your waist in a bruising grip, spun you around and pinned you against your car, his erection pressing against your ass. He yanked up your skirt and tore off your panties, leaving your lower body completely bare.
By now, you were glad that you picked the parking spot on the top floor, because your two cars were the only ones left and no one would come up here at this hour to catch you, about to be railed against your vehicle by Chris Cuomo.
âMy, my, Y/L/N, this really turns you on, doesnât it?â You could hear his breathy voice from behind you, and then felt a thick finger slowly being pressed into your aching pussy, followed by a sharp intake of breath. âFuck, you already are so wet for me.â Chris growled.
âAre you going to fuck me soon, or do I have to take care of it myself?â You asked, teasingly.
He swore under his breath and gave your ass a sharp slap, making you welp.
You heard the sound of his zipper, and the rustle of foil.
âYou really brought a condom to court, Cuomo? Wow, you are even more shameless than I imagined.â
âShut up.â He growled, and you did, because he lined up his cock and slowly started pressing into you. He was big, and you had to bury your face into your arm to muffle the obscene sounds coming out of your mouth at the feeling of being stretched like this. He bottomed out with a low moan, and immediately started a fast, hard pace, pushing you against your car with every move of his hips.
You turned your head around to look at him. His face was flushed, and his eyes were fixed on the sight of his cock sliding in and out of you.
The friction was delicious, and he was hitting a perfect spot deep inside you with every thrust. Your moans became louder and louder, and he pressed one of his large hands over your mouth.
âBe quiet, you donât want someone to catch little Miss Righteous being screwed in the parking lot by big, bad Cuomo, donât you?â he whispered in your ear between husky breaths, and you could only cry out against his palm as he was speeding up his thrusts. The idea of someone catching you here was as arousing as it was terrifying.
Suddenly, Chris other hand sneaked around you to press on your clit, hard, and you screamed into his hand as your orgasm hit you like a punch to the gut, your walls gripping his cock like a vice while he was still fucking you through your climax.
âThatâs it, darling, come for me. Fuck.â He groaned, before suddenly going tense as he reached his peak as well, cock buried deep inside you.
You slumped against your car with a huff, and the brief glimpse you caught of your reflection in the window made you question what you just did even more. Not only did you have (amazing, mind-blowing) sex with the opposing lawyer, he also absolutely wrecked you, you looked like you just had the roughest night ever with your hair undone, your makeup smudged and your panties in shreds on the floor of the parking lot. You hastily pulled down your skit again and tried to fix your hair as much as possible to get a minimum of decorum back.
Chris was just disposing the condom into a nearby bin, already looking calm and composed again. You hated him for that, and for the broad, self-satisfied grin that was all over his face again. And still, your heart gave a little flip as he approached you.
âThat was fun.â He smirked, âWe should definitely do that again. But not today, Iâm busy. See you in court.â
He started to make his way to his car, and there was definitely a spring in his step.
âIn your dreams, Cuomo.â You mumbled after him but couldnât suppress a smile. That was, until you looked into the side mirror of your car to check your makeup and saw the giant, purple bruise on the side of your neck.
âCuomo!â you screamed. âCome back here right now, you imbecile, you gave me a fucking hickey!â
âBetter wear a scarf then tomorrow!â he called, entering his car. âAnd donât make plans for after the trial, Iâm taking you to dinner to celebrate my victory. And I mean that.â
And with that, he drove off. And as much as you hated yourself to admit it, you were really looking forward to having dinner with this idiot. After you destroyed him in court, of course.

Crossed over
Summary: Garrus has something to tell Shepard before they get down to pound town. Same hat, though? Same hat.
(I wrote this originally for pride but didnât finish it in time. Yes I am 100% pulling this out of my ass, but who cares. My city now.)
---
Shit.
Garrusâ heart was still racing as the door to the main battery shut in front of him. Only moments prior, the Normandyâs commander had been standing there, chatting with him. Well⊠chatting wasnât really the right word. Propositioning, maybe? That felt more on the face plate to him, but it just sounded so salacious for something coming from the man people had dubbed humanityâs boy scout.
He didnât know what a boy scout was, but he was fairly sure they didnât make suggestions like thatâŠ
âI guess I need to⊠ask Mordin about this.â
His hand hesitated on his omni-tool before he could make the call. The salarian would be good for positioning and allergic warnings, but he didnât need that at the moment. That wasnât going to quiet the frantic racing of his heart. He needed somebody else for that, someone he was still on shaky terms with.
But he needed someone would listen and not need a million clarifying questionsâŠ
His talons typed in the familiar number, and it was soon sending out the request. Thanks to being so close to a mass relay, it would go through no problem. Well, that and the fact Cerberus had souped up the Normandyâs communication system in several definitely off the market and illegal ways. Though that really wasnât his problem anymore â he hadnât been part of C-SEC for over two years.
Just⊠old habits die hard he supposed.
The call took a few seconds to connect, but he soon heard the sounds of Palaven on the other end. Garrus felt his stomach drop as he realized just how late it was on his homeworld. No doubt he had woken up the other party from a deep sleep â that was strike two for him before he had said a word.
Strike one, naturally, was going off on Omega and becoming a mercenary who took a rocket to the face. She was still mad about that.
âGarrus?â
Solana sounded tired. He could hear her shifting on the other end, no doubt because she had been in bed and fast asleep. Guilt swarmed in his stomach, but his resolve pushed it away. As the humans said it, in for a penny in for a pound.
And boy, he was going to get a poundingâŠ
He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. The humans of the Normandy wouldâve never noticed it, but no doubt his sister had already picked up on just how frantic he sounded. Right then, any turian within a couple hundred yards probably couldâve picked it up. Hell, a passing ship might have even gotten the hint if they hadnât been in FTL drive. But he tried anyway â he had his pride in the end.
âUh, hey, Solana. Sorry, I realize itâs late and all, but- â
Right then, he could imagine her mandibles twitching in annoyance, but also the gleam in her eyes that gave away just how curious she actually was. After all, he wasnât the call home type. Never had been really, especially after their mother had passed. It just sort of got pushed to the back and they caught up when they could.
âGar, youâre freaking out so loud the humans are going to hear it. Youâre not dying again, are you?â
Hey, that had been a one-time deal. It wasnât like he had a habit of taking rockets to the face or anythingâŠ
Garrus took a deep breath to steady himself once more, and he allowed his body some respite by dropping it onto the cot he kept in the battery. Sure, he probably couldâve had a bunk elsewhere â but that wouldâve been with humans who had no problems working with Cerberus. As the object of his anxiety wouldâve put it, taco was good out there.
He still didnât get that â what did food have to do with displeasure? Humans were weirdâŠ
âIâm fine.â His mandibles twitched. âJust⊠had a talk with Shepard.â
Solanaâs subvocals were curiosity city as she leaned in. âThe big one or the dead one?â
âHeâs not dead anymoreâŠâ Garrusâ voice trailed off. âAnd the little one, yeah.â
On the other end of the line, he heard his sister chuckle. âWhat, did you two have a fight about calibrating or something? Thatâs not exactly something to call me over, Gar. Heâs not going to kick you off theâŠâ
Her voice trailed off, no doubt because she had put the pieces together. He felt his stomach squirm as he waited in the pregnant silence, knowing the ball was going to drop any second. Really, this was the last thing he wanted to tell herâŠ
âPlease tell me you told him before you two fucked.â
Garrusâ mandibles almost let him lift off the ground as he jumped to his feet on instinct. âWe havenât⊠not yet. We were just⊠he made suggestions. I think weâre going to eventually, once we both put some research in. Kind of hard to smash a turian and a human together and allâŠâ
His voice trailed off, realizing just how awkward he sounded. Really, the logical side of him knew he was being ridiculous. It wasnât like he was a virgin like Shepard was. There were a few lovers in his past, so for the most part he knew what he was doing. It was just⊠well, humans were odd.
Solanaâs voice was steadier the next time she spoke. âSo⊠youâre planning to fuck your CO.â
âYes, I know, Iâm a walking stereotype.â The embarrassment could have choked a krogan. âHonestly⊠I donât even know why I called. I justâŠâ
His sister finished for him. âYouâre worried about how heâs going to react if you tell him, because youâre planning on filling him in.â
Garrus was left standing there in the battery, mandibles almost to the bottom of his neck. He had no idea what kind of vocals he mustâve been giving off then, but they had to be something. After all, Solana wasnât making fun of him. When it came to his love life, she loved nothing more than doing that. It was some older sister commandment: thou shalt pick on thy little brother for his terrible interest in people.
So⊠yeah.
âGar?â
He shook his head. âYeah, I guess thatâs it,â
Solana shifted a pillow on the other end. âHeâs a medic, right? Heâll at least understand it that way.â
Enough interaction with medical staff had taught Garrus that didnât mean a whole lot of anything. Besides, he wasnât looking for a checkup, this was practically starting⊠something. And maybe thatâs why his stomach shifted so badly at the thought of it as he glanced around the battery.
ShitâŠ
âI mean⊠do they even hold classes on that outside of turian occupied areas?â He sighed. âItâs easier with us⊠I donât know how a human is going to feel about it.â
His sisterâs subvocals shifted to something that reminded him of when he had been smaller, and she had stood by him on the playground. He was bigger than her now⊠but something about it was oddly comforting. It was also kind of embarrassing, but he was going to take what he could get at the moment.
âWell, if he starts shit, tell him to count his days.â
Despite his anxiety, Garrus found himself chuckling. âYouâre really going to threaten the first human Spectre?â
âHe died once; I can make it happen again if he hurts you.â The certainty in Solanaâs voice was a strange comfort then. âSeriously, if he has a problem with it, then heâs an ass and heâs not worth it. Not your fault heâs a dumb human who doesnât get what it means.â
Another chuckle â he knew when he had lost a fight. âThanks, but I think I can handle it. Besides, youâre kind of on Palaven.â
Not that that meant anything â piss Solana off enough and sheâd find a way to show up.
âLucky him.â Solana let out a yawn that helped Garrus know their call was ending. âI mean it, Garrus. If he says anythingâŠâ
He found the knot in his stomach loosening as he sat back down. âIâll send you our coordinates.â
âThatâs my little brother. Now, get the hell off the line. I gotta get up for work in 4 hours.â
Well, love you tooâŠ
Still, Garrus let his sister go and the battery lapsed into silence once more as the call ended. He could hear life on the other side of the heavy door as the crew went about their duties, but right then it didnât matter. He had made up his mind over the course of the call, so now he felt more resolute.
Was he still terrified? Absolutely. Humans were fucking unpredictable. After all, who else launches out of a mass effect field and starts fighting with the first sentient species they meet? They had a species wide death wish or somethingâŠ
But that didnât matter then. Now it was time to figure out what he wanted to say. And at least he had time for that as he waited for the big gun in front of him to show him some data.
---
A few weeks later, and there he was. Garrus shifted from foot to foot as the elevator door opened and let him out. He had been to the top of the Normandy before, enough that he knew the layout. Past that door was the object of his anxiety, waiting on the pretense of a talk about what they were planning.
Maybe it had been a while since he had last had sex, but he definitely didnât remember that much thought put into it before. Was it because he was getting older, or because his partner was a squishy human?
âThat you, Garrus?â
Shepardâs soft voice carried through the metal. Something about it always set the turianâs heart beating a little faster. In those moments, he found it hard to talk. So, in the end he just stood there like an idiot.
This was going great, clearly.
Thankfully, Shepard wasnât a stupid man. His head appeared through the open door, checking to make sure he was ok. Today he had his hair pulled behind his head â he was fairly sure he called it a ponytail â and out of his face. No doubt he had been working with Saren. The hamster had full face privileges at pretty much anytime. And yes, he was jealous of a hamster for that.
So sue him.
The words brought hm back to life. âOh, yeah. Sorry, guess I was more tired than I thought.â
The Spectre smiled at him as he motioned for Garrus to follow. Just as the turian had thought, he had been working with his hamster. From the looks of things, it had been a deep clean and a cage change if the shredded bedding meant anything. No doubt the man in charge of it all had been cleaning it up when he had come calling.
âWhatâs Saren got this time?â
Shepard gestured to the cage as they moved past his desk towards the sitting area. âI went for an under the sea theme. It seemed appropriate; he is living in the old fish tank system.â
That would explain the sunken ship half buried in the substrate. He had to hand it to the human, he really knew how to spoil his petsâŠ
Together they sat at the table, Garrus positioned so he could just see Shepardâs unmade bed in the background. It was so close, but it felt like lightyears away. He was supposed to get on that eventually with the SpectreâŠ
Talk about nearly giving himself a heart attack.
âAnyway, you wanted to talk about âŠâ
Shepardâs voice dropped and his cheeks turned pink. Humans called that blushing, and it was pretty noticeable on the ones with light skin. It usually turned the Spectre krogan rampage red if he got going, so things werenât too bad yet. He could work with this.
Still, Garrus felt tense as he gazed over at the human. At least both of them were nervous about this, so he didnât feel completely stupid. In a way, that was helpful as he tried to find the words he had practiced for a week.
Naturally, they had abandoned him at the sight of those blue eyes. He was a sucker for blueâŠ
âYeah. There was something⊠I needed to tell you.â
His talons tucked against each other as he tried to keep from looking at the human. âJust so we both know what weâre getting into and all.â
âYouâre not allergic to human body fluids, are you?â
Shepard was so matter of fact in his tone that Garrus felt himself chuckling without meaning to do it. Leave it to the Spectre to find a way to relax him without consciously attempting it. Maybe that was his real superpower â the biotics were just a fun perk.
But yeah⊠maybe he could do this.
âNo, Iâm good there.â Another deep breath. âJust uh⊠I donât really tell people this. None of their business, and most non-turians wouldnât get it anyway.â
At that, Garrus paused and checked the sight in front of him. Shepard was watching him, analyzing him maybe. He had stopped nervously tugging at the end of his ponytail, and his hands were in his lap. From the looks of things, he had the Spectreâs undivided attention.
No pressure.
âSomething up, Garrus? You donât have to tell me if you donât- â
He held up his hand. âNo, I feel like I should. Weâre getting kind of⊠close.â
The tension rippled across his carapace as he felt it on the tip of his tongue. âDo⊠you know what it means to be crossed?â
At that point, the translating function on their omni-tools went haywire. Whatever Shepard normally heard when it worked, he definitely wasnât getting it then. At least the man hadnât winced at the sound of him untranslated. That was probably a good sign for cross-species relations if there ever was one.
âSorry, the translator didnât pick that up. I got something about a mix up?â
Well, half points for trying.
Garrus nodded as he tried to pick his words carefully so they would translate right. âSomething like that. You know we believe in spirits, right?â
When Shepard nodded, he continued, stomach churning all the while. âWell⊠sometimes the spirit and the body itâs in have a disagreement about⊠things I guess.â
Disagreement was putting it mildly, of course. Garrus wouldâve rather called it an all-out war in his early teens when the bad feelings were at their peak. Now it was mostly quiet â thank you, modern medicine â but sometimes it still whispered in his thoughts when he least expected it. His spirit was a tricky one like that, no wonder he had lasted so long on Omega.
But⊠yeah, he was getting away from the awkward conversation he was having. That was probably a bad coping mechanism left over from being a merc.
Shepard still seemed tuned into the conversation at the very least. âOk⊠so your mind and body donât⊠agree on something? Is that what Iâm getting?â
âPretty much. Itâs not super common, but it happens.â His mandibles flapped as he tried to find the words. âThere are ways of⊠making the spirit more comfortable depending on what way you need to go. Medical procedures help, but oftentimes one of the best ways is to just live the way your spirit wants.â
He had been 13 when his spirit had started acting up. That was a common age, though he didnât exactly hang out with many crossed turians these daysâŠ
His shoulders still tensed as he snuck a glance at the human â hadnât lost him completely. âI guess Iâm trying to tell you⊠that Iâm crossed. Not that itâs going to matter for us in bed, the hormone therapy has pretty much taken care of everything. I only have to take a maintenance dose every couple monthsâŠâ
His voice trailed off. Shepard hadnât said anything for a long time. Instead, the Spectre seemed to draw into himself. Something about that made Garrusâ stomach drop and almost instantly he regretted saying anything at all.
Maybe he was going to need Solana after allâŠ
His voice was shaky when he spoke again. âLook, I get that it doesnât- â
âSo, youâre like the turian version of trans?â
Garrus blinked. The word was a new one, he had learned it from listening to the crew. Mentally, the translation ran through his head as he sat there, trying to remember what it meant. Something about gender?
What was that again, an ice cream flavor? He was kind of drawing a blankâŠ
âUh⊠donât really get what that is, Shepard. Youâre going to have to explain it to me before I can say anything.â
There was a glint in the manâs eye then as he nodded. âBasically, humans have a thing where their brain and body donât match up. We can also fix it with medical procedures, but the best way is the same way youâve got.â
The turian found himself nodding. âGuess that would be the human version of being crossed, yeah.â
In that moment, Garrus wasnât sure what to expect as the pieces fell into place. It was Shepard, but Shepard was still human. More importantly, it was impossible to read how he was reacting then. His face was utterly blank as he sat there, staring down at his hands.
In the words of the Spectre⊠he should probably go.
Garrus could feel something breaking inside still as he stood. âI get itâs probably not what you expected. Itâs ok⊠I just ask you donât spread it- â
Those eyes were on him as Shepard reached out to keep him from going. âDamn it, Garrus, same hat.â
âŠ
âSameâŠâ
A wide grin broke out on Shepardâs face as he started laughing. âI think weâre in the same boat here if youâre telling me youâre on the turian version of HRT. Holy shit, talk about one hell of a relief. I thought you were going to say you were allergic to humans or something.â
The translation whirred in Garrusâ visor as he wordlessly sat back down. He had a full picture now, and it was one hell of a sight. The tension that had been vibrating across his carapace began to melt away as he listened to the human laugh, and soon he found himself chuckling as well.
Solana was never going to believe this.
âNope, still not allergic to humans.â His mandibles twitched. âSo⊠you humans do it too then?â
Shepard was still smiling as he nodded. âYeah. If not for my biotics fucking everything up, I wouldâve been on HRT too by now. But then you wouldnât get to hear my lovely, squeaky voice cracking over the battlefield and who would want to miss that?â
âI wouldnâtâŠâ Garrusâ voice trailed off. âOhâŠâ
Well, from the sound of things he hadnât needed to worry. Maybe he didnât need his older sister to come beat up his not-yet lover yet after all. His pride would survive for at least one more day at this rate.
Honestly, he felt lighter than he had in weeks. If not for the shipâs gravity, he might have been floating then. Then again, that might have been caused by Shepardâs quiet chuckles over all of this. Something about the manâs laughter always put him at ease.
âI canât believe you thought I was cis, though.â The human had gone back to playing with the end of his ponytail, though from the motions it was less nerves and more something to do with his hands. âI would be insulted if you were human.â
Garrus felt his mandibles twitch. âItâs not like I know the difference, Shepard.â
âYou literally saw my dick fall out of my pants, Garrus.â
âŠ
Yeah, well⊠he wasnât the medic, now was he? For all he knew, they were supposed to do that.
Still, at his silence Shepard just chuckled more. Surprisingly, he seemed lighter as well as he sat back. Maybe because of his own nerves, but he hadnât noticed just how tight the manâs shoulders had been when he had entered. No doubt they had been worrying about similar things if there was that much crossover.
Something, something, communication made for happy relationships.
âWell, clearly weâve got plenty of research to do if we want to do this right.â The human sounded much happier as he looked down at his always present omni-tool. âI mean⊠if you still want to and all. I understand if youâve changed your mind.â
Garrus all but hopped to his feet. âNo! I mean⊠no, I havenât changed my mind. Iâm just glad I know what to research. I think I was looking at the wrong vidsâŠâ
âWell, that makes two of us, unless you guys figured out a way to fix anatomical issues weâre still working on. Turian anatomy seems a little more straight-forward when it comes to genitals, what with everything being internal.â
âŠ
You know, he probably shouldâve found his anatomy being discussed in such clinical terms rather dry. Yet the fact Shepard seemed so relaxed about the whole thing was rather heartening. Maybe he was just more relaxed now that the bomb had dropped and he still had both of his mandibles.
He was glad for that â the implant surgery to fix him the first time had really sucked.
âI think youâll be fine with whatever youâre looking at.â He let out a sigh of relief. âSo⊠good talk?â
Even he knew that sounded awkward. Yet, the other man chuckled and nodded as he stood at last, pushing his ponytail behind his shoulders as he approached the turian. Apart from when they were getting shot at, it was probably the closest they had ever been.
âYeah. Good talk.â
And then he smiled. âSo, uh⊠I need to finish cleaning up from Saren. Unless you want to help with that?â
Garrus was already on his feet, eyeing the door. âI think I have some calibrations to get to down in the battery.â
Shepardâs cheeks briefly puffed out, but then he allowed a rather laid-back chuckle. âAlright, I get the idea. Iâll talk to you later, Garrus. Good luck with the calibrations.â
Luck â he certainly had a lot of that at the moment.
Garrus honestly felt lighter as he left the manâs quarters to return to his spot in the battery. The weight that had pressed down hard on his talons had evaporated, like gravity no longer affected him. It was a bit strange â the ship was set to adjust to that â but right then he wasnât thinking like a tech as he rode the elevator back down.
All things considered, that had gone better than he had expected.
âWell⊠doubt Solana is going to believe this one. Who knew humans had it tooâŠâ he trailed off as the door opened to the crew floor. He let the matter drop for the moment, focused instead on getting back to work. After all, the Normandy was a big ship, and keeping her running was a heavy task he was more than happy to deal with.
Still⊠it was good to know they were on even footing. Maybe it wouldnât go as badly as he thought it might. But he definitely needed to change his vidsâŠ
But he could worry about that later. A big gun needed some specialized calibrations if they were going to live another day. He could think about his sex life later.

MLQC Boys With A Famous S/o
Here we go! Thank you anon for this request I hope its to your liking!! Apologies for typos as always!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kiro (YouTuber S/o)
How did you meet ?
You were a YouTuber that had over 500,000 subscribers. During a Mukbang Q&A video you received a question in regards to your celebrity crush.Â
âI think the big ass poster currently behind me kind of gives it away, but my ultimate crush is Kiro. Iâd give anything to meet him at least once.â You went even as far as to give him a shout out. âHey, super star! I heard you were a big foodie and since you like to eat and I like to eat, maybe we can eat together sometime? Okay, that was dumb, please ignore this!â
Little did you know, Kiro was a huge fan of your videos and just so happened to see your request. Next thing you knew a clip of you âshooting your shotâ made its way to his social media page with a caption of âIts a date ;)â right above it. You just about died when you saw his post. You were only joking around! Well...not 100% joking, but you didnât expect him to respond!Â
You spent weeks talking to each other through private messages soon after. Your messages filled with gushing over your similar interests, playful banters and light flirting. He offered to be a part of your next Mukbang stating that it was better to have two people eating themselves into a coma on camera than one. You couldnât argue with facts and took him up on his offer! Kiro only had one condition...you let him take you out on a date afterwards.
And the rest was history.Â
Dating
The cutest couple to have ever existed!Â
Both of your social media pages are filled with couple photos.Â
You both get to dress up in disguise whenever you go on dates! A baseball cap, sunglasses, and face masks are your usual go toâs, but depending on where youâre going you might be required to get a little creative.Â
Dealing with overly excited fans and even more persistent paparazzi was a bit new for you, since your interactions with people is mostly through the internet, but you handle it pretty well.
Interviewers practically threw themselves onto every opportunity to get information about your love life. Kiro was more skilled than you about these things, so you tend to just laugh awkwardly and let him take care of it.Â
Kiro appears a little more in your videos whenever heâs free which the fans are grateful for. Of course, your channel doesnât turn into all things Kiro and you never use him for your own personal gain.Â
Dating Kiro did open up some opportunities for you, like getting to experience award shows and networking with other celebrities and content creators. Again, you refused to throw Kiroâs name around just to get the things you wanted.Â
You both like to bounce ideas off of each other, whether its for his music or for your latest video. Having two creative minds come together does wonders!Â
Youâre almost always somewhere in the background during his live streams. Â
Gavin (Actress S/o)
How did you meet?Â
High school. You were a part of the drama club and Gavin was...well...forced into being a part of the stagehand after being threatened with expulsion from his last brawl.Â
You were the first one to welcome him. You were kind, funny, and cute. And when you were on that stage? Mesmerizing was the best way to put how Gavin saw you. You were inspiring.Â
After graduation Gavin lost contact with most of his acquaintances, but he never once stopped thinking about you. Gavin wasnât big on celebrity news, but he actually kept up with your progress once he got wind of a newcomer taking the entertainment world by storm.Â
Fast forward to a few years later and he was playing bodyguard for one of the most successful actresses in the world. You. This was just an undercover job that was going to last as long as his target was still out there.Â
There was definitely chemistry between you. And while Gavin wanted to act on his feelings, his work had to come first. You respected that, but that didnât mean you werenât going to let him know you were interested. How could you not be? You had a huge crush on him back in high school and now that he was by your side practically every day those feelings came back with a vengeance!Â
As soon as Gavinâs objective was complete he continues being your bodyguard stating, âOnly I can keep you out of trouble.â Which you responded by kissing him.
Dating
Once word got out about you dating your âbodyguardâ, it shocked many that you decided to be with someone that wasnât a celebrity.Â
Even so, Gavin doesnât look like your average Joe. He has the body and face of man who could easily be on the cover of Vogue or Vanity Fair, but you know your man isnât about that life.Â
Youâve spent years being a private person, so when you and Gavin start dating not revealing much was easy. The public only knew what you wanted them to.Â
There are a lot of at home dates filled with takeout and movie night. Just being in each others company is more than enough for you!
You work out together a lot! Heâs really good about motivating you especially when you have to prepare for an upcoming movie. You honestly donât need a personal trainer when you have Gavin.Â
The paparazzi are afraid of Gavin. Like they wonât even get within six feet of you whenever heâs around. The last poor soul who got a little too close for your liking ate asphalt within seconds.
Gavin isnât one for the limelight or the glitz and glam, which you appreciate. Its nice to be around someone that isnât a part of the entertainment world.Â
You donât have to hide a part of yourself, in fear of judgement, whenever you were with him. You appreciated Gavinâs genuine nature. He was always truthful with you and he never gave the impression that he was only with you because of your status.Â
Gavin does a great job with making you feel special. Whenever you feel like you donât meet the standards of what the industry wants, he pulls you out of that dark hole and gives you the pep talk you need to get through the day.
You could walk around without an ounce of makeup on or trade in a Dior dress for sweatpants and a t-shirt, and Gavin still found you beautiful.Â
Victor ( Famous Pianist S/o)
How did you meet?Â
Victor was a fan of your work for quite some time. There was something about your raw talent that drew him to your work. He always made it a point to go to all your live shows whenever he was available, but has never met you personally.Â
It wasnât until you waltzed right into his office out of the blue. When he saw you enter his office with Goldman and two security guards tailing right behind you, he didnât even recognize you. You looked as if you had just rolled out of bed with a messy bun, ripped jeans, t-shirt with some random cartoon character and thick rimmed glasses. His first thought as you stared him down with a frown was, âWho let this homeless person into his office?âÂ
When Goldman called your name as the two security guards grabbed your arms, Victor had to do a double take. The elegant and graceful woman, who commanded the stage with just pads of her fingertips, was...YOU?!Â
Victor allowed you to stay, curious to know why you were here. You business with Victor was simple. You wanted funding to create music schools for low income families. You had sent countless emails to LFG with hopes to do business with them, but after being ignored the first few times and receiving a rude rejection email that morning, you were ready to take the bull by the horns.Â
Surprisingly Victor found himself intrigued by you and thus started an interesting partnership.Â
The more Victor got to work with you the more he became attracted to the headstrong, smart, and talented person who seemingly enjoyed ruffling his feathers every chance they got.Â
You were also attracted to the blunt, detail-oriented man and it bothered you to no-end. What you saw in a man who probably would critique drawings from a toddler, you had no idea. But you appreciated his work ethic. He genuinely wanted you to succeed with this project and you couldnât deny his heart was in the right place.Â
The day the first school opened was the day Victor decided to stop tiptoeing around the mutual attraction and asked you out.
âWe can celebrate your accomplishments over dinner.âÂ
Dating
The CEO of LFG and the child prodigy turned world famous pianist dating?!
CAN WE SAY POWER COUPLE?!
Whenever paparazzi get a picture of the two of you, you both look as if you just finished a professional photoshoot. You NEVER look bad in those photos. Never!Â
And when you do professional shoots? It leaves people SHOOK. Magazines like Forbes have never had such a beautiful couple grace their covers before. Just wait until people see your wedding photos.
You always ask him to visit you during your rehearsals which he almost always declines but shows up anyway, if heâs not too busy. Heâll also bring a box of his homemade pudding because knowing you, you probably were too busy with preparations for your upcoming concert to eat. Heâll take you out to eat afterwards, but the pudding should hold you over for a bit.
Victor will never admit this to you, but your music helps him de-stress after a long day at work, so whenever he isnât with you, your music helps him fall asleep.Â
Victor also likes to watch you work. Seeing you so focused as you create your next piece was a sight to beheld. The pensive look in your eyes as you went over your music sheet, the slow nod of your head as your fingers danced across the keys as you intently listened to the melody, and the way your eyebrow twitched when you hit a key you didnât like; all things oddly enjoyed seeing.
Youâll never catch him staring. Heâll pretend heâs working whenever you feel his eyes on you and if you try to call him out on it, he will most likely deny it.Â
Lucien ( Novelist S/o)
How did you meet?Â
You needed the help of someone knowledgeable with neuroscience for your next book. Someone recommended a Professor at Loveland University who specialized on the topic. That was how you met Professor Lucien.Â
You two worked closely together once you started your manuscript, going over various topics under the neuroscience category. It wasnât surprising just how intelligent the man was on the subject, but you were in awe about how much you knew.
Your meetings would often start at the university which led to you going home together once you found out he lived in the same building as you. You leveled up from the lecture hall to aquariums, movie theaters, restaurants, and his apartment where you had lunch or dinner.Â
Your conversations never stayed on the topic of work. It often changed to your interests. You found that you and Lucien had a lot of similar interests like your taste in books and art. He also developed a love for teasing you.Â
Seeing the look on your flustered face turned into one of his favorite pastimes.
When it came to the topic of your books, you learned Lucien has read quite a few of them and was very intrigued with your work. He asked you numerous questions, questions no one thought to ask.Â
He admitted to you his favorite of yours was the first book he ever read titled, âThe Boy Who Dreamed.â You jokingly offered to sign his book, but he declined with a smile.
âIâll admit I do enjoy the book, but Iâm more interested in the woman who wrote it.âÂ
Dating
More dates at your favorite places.Â
Almost every other week, Lucien seemed to have tickets to art exhibits, festivals, or the movies.Â
His teasing intensifies by a hundred! That man loves to tease you and you hate it! You love it.Â
The closer you got to Lucien, the more you realized he didnât enjoy talking about himself, so it takes a while to learn about him or his past. You never press him for information, but he does reveal things to you within time.
Lucien loves when you read to him. Its how he falls asleep and once you find out he has trouble sleeping, you always suggest what you call âstory time.âÂ
In truth, having you by his side is more than enough to get him to sleep, but if you arenât there hearing your voice will do the trick. You could be reading anything and heâd be fine with it. From Dr. Seuss to H.G. Wells, Lucien was fine with it as long as he got hear your voice.
You like to ask for his opinion on your latest projects. He does a great job making you think outside of the box which will make things easier or challenging during your writing sessions.Â
Whenever you encounter writerâs block, Lucien will pull you away from your laptop and mountains of papers to enjoy a nice relaxing day with him.Â

txt headcanons â à©âĄËł you are a content creator
a / n : this is such bold request but I love it!! Damn I can't believe you guys are this creative-
â à©âĄËł choi soobin
you two were having your usual late night cravings
and coincidentally you both were craving mcdonalds
it was dark and the only thing that lit up the road ahead was the lights
he held the steering wheel with one hand while the other grips your hand
you seemed to be editing something on your phone
he didnât bother much and let you do your thing
he pulls up in the drive thru and lowers the window
he asks you your order but you donât reply,
to busy doing something
he nudges your shoulder and you finally respond
you apologize and gave him your order
â Oh yeah- sorry, Iâll just have a caramel sundae. â
as an apology, you offered to pay
which of course, soobin being the kind gentleman he is, refused and offered to pay instead
it led to a playful argument where you had to use your secret weapon
( the cashier at this point was ready to yell at y'all )
the threat. A quite powerful weapon.
â Okay, Iâll just not hug or cuddle with you for a week. â
you shrug and cross your arms while looking out the window
of course he wanted those warm cuddles so he let you pay just this time
you pull up your wallet and open it
you were finding a certain credit card
soobin's pout disappeared and was replaced by almost a choke
he lands his eyes on your wallet and chokes on nothing when seeing the thickness of your wallet and the amount of bills and cards in it
you raise your brow at him while giving him your credit card
after paying and getting your orders
soobin decides to ask you a question
â So uh, you've told me you're a content creator, specifically what? â
you pause eating ice cream
â Oh, I just make video games. â
you sheepishly smiled at him
he thinks he's hearing things
geeks tf out
almost spilled his ice cream
tries not to crash the car while geeking out
asks a t o n of questions
probably has your games already downloaded the next day
when a certain level gets hard
he'll ask you and act sly about it
â You know y/n, I've been having trouble in this level so maybe you can help me- since I'm your boyfriend right? â
â Hell no you solve that shit
â à©âĄËł choi yeonjun
since you two live separately
he dosent delve into your life in the apartment much
due to his schedule
and it didn't appear to him to ask you how you have so much earnings
it was just a casual tuesday
it was break time since they just did practice
he was loudly panting
wiping the sweat on his face with the hem of his shirt
he pulls up his phone from his pocket
he takes a sip of water before scrolling through youtube to find something entertaining
he settles on a video titled " doing my makeup bc I'm bored as hell "
the title was enough to intrigue him without checking who made it or who was on the thumbnail
much to his surprise
he NEVER expected it to be you
refuses to believe it at first
continues to observe how you act or talk
and he comes to the realization that it's actually you
quickly calls you
he was sweating even more
you were recording another video so you had to pause the camera
you groan and pick up your phone that was beside you
you saw the id name and press accept
his nickname btw is â hips don't lie â
;)
you were about to calmly answer â hello? âÂ
before a screaming yeonjun interrupts you
â yaH! YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOU DID MAKEUP VIDEOS! â
clearly offended
â Ok chill, it's not that big of a deal anyways. â
he swore he was about to choke you
you manage to calm him down and calmly break the news that was already broken-
â Yes, I make videos. See? Not a big deal. â
you could almost clearly hear him say
â Yeah not a big deal my ass. â
â à©âĄËł choi beomgyu
it always amazes you how you had a huge audience and popularity
but still beomgyu didn't know you were a content creator
you gained quite a following after a few videos or so
it even grew to the point where you had paparazzi follow you everywhere
so when you and beomgyu went out for a date night
it wasn't a surprise when flashes of light was on your direction
your head hung low as you walk with beomgyu side by side to the car
beomgyu expected them to mob him but instead
they mobbed you
â y/n!! â
â y/n look here! â
â when's your next line coming out?! â
gyu furrowed his brows in confusion
why were they calling you?
not because of jealousy
but confusion
you ignored all the questions and pulled beomgyu closer to you and enter the car
you finally get to breathe
â What was that? â
â What was what â
â Why were they calling you out? And something about a new line? â
well shit-
you always liked how beomgyu didn't know much about your big career
it's not like you didn't want to tell him
you just liked the way things are
but you knew sooner or later he'd find out
you quickly and calmly tell gyu that your career was bigger than you've told him
heâs just â oh â
quietly accepting it
but definitely supportive
will watch all your videos later
â à©âĄËł kang taehyun
he was working out at the gym
and as usual he was working on dem arms-
he was lifting weights
when he heard someone who was working out beside him talk
â Yeah I know this person that creates very nice clothes, I think her name is l/n y/n?? â
â Oh yeah I know her, just ordered some of her stuff yesterday. â
he was still lifting the heavy metal up
so when he heard it he almost dropped it on himself
he stands up and walks over to the people who were just talking
â Uh hi, who were you talking about just now? â
he politely asked
â Oh we were just talking about the famous l/n y/n. â
he then thanked the man and asked for the website
after the guy gave it to him
he sat on one of the benches and searches it up
he clicked on it and it brought him to your website
there he could see all sorts of stuff you sell
slightly shook
â So this is why she's busy all the time â
he walks back to your aparatment
slightly angry
bc of the fact that you didn't tell him your career
and how dumb he is not to ask
after knocking on your door
you of course let him in
he gets straight to the point
he sets down his gym bag
and says
â So what do you exactly do? â
you kinda die inside
but sit him down and talk to him about it
he gets kinda angry how you didn't even tell him
the most it leads up to is sparking an argument
which almost never happens
he just reminds you that you have to tell him these things
â à©âĄËł huening kai
you guys just established the relationship so you don't know much about him
and vice versa
you decided to go public about your relationship
after a very long talk between you two
and an even longer one with BigHit
you both posted matching selfies and whatnot
and eventually the media picked up on the clues
and when you two were asked about it, you didn't object the assumptions
so the next day you and hyuka expected thousands of articles about your relationship
but he wasn't expecting what he got
â Famous vlogger l/n y/n in a relationship with TXT's huening kai? â
â Recent news about l/n y/n's recently revealed relationship â
â l/n y/n revealed to have a boyfriend â
It surprised him how all of this was centered on you
he later searched you up and saw how popular you are
gaining over millions of views on your videos
he screams in dolphin which almost gave you a heart attack
seeing that the atmosphere was calm and quiet
until he decides to transform to his final form
which is a dolphin-
you raise a brow and walk up to him
you hug him from behind and peek over to see what he was doing
you weren't that shocked
but your face said otherwise
â Oh sorry, I hadn't told you yet â
you giggle shyly
after you tell him he beams in excitement
he's all gushing about you and how you're a vlogger
and you're just dare like đ bitch you're a worldwide idol-
he becomes your cheerleader
even offers to be in you videos
which you're secretly thankful since that means YouTube pays your more-
a / n : taking a break after this since my switch gon arrive đ but in the meanwhile send in requests if you'd like

LEMON - a Renesmee Cullen one-shot, inspired by âThirteenâ (2003)
"Renesmee Cullen!", the teacher barked. I heard snickering behind me, causing me to roll my eyes. Not another day of them laughing at my name. If there was anyone to blame, it was my mother. She could have chosen any other name (well, except for Edward Jacobina or Gertrude), so why had she chosen Renesmee? To honour her mother and my father's adoptive mother. So dumb.
The teacher ignored the laughter of the students and roared at me to read the next poem in the textbook. I was stuck in an English Literature class and we were learning about poetry. I personally thought our teacher made the class even worse and more boring than it was. Neither it was advanced enough for my mind, nor my classmates seemed to cooperate and make things easier with their constant snickering and gossiping.
The material was far too easy. We were preparing for our SAT exams and we were just now learning about poetry?
I let out a small sigh before opening my mouth to read the example on the page of the textbook:
He was crippled but only his bodywas cracked It's not easy, nor is it an easy matter to explain. "Let's just leave it at that," she says and closes The Holy Book of Lies. She covers her eyes, denying to herself what she thought happened.
The class snickered yet again. What the fuck did they find amusing enough to laugh? The poem? The way I had read it?
Having just read the poem, I personally found it relatable. I could easily identify myself with the woman and the man could definitely be Jacob. The way I interpret the poem had to do with the imprinting. Ever since Jacob (in the presence of the rest of my family, of course) had revealed to me the truths of imprinting, I hadn't spoken to him. I had refused to look him in the eyes. I needed time to process this and everyone was making it even harder for me.
My heart ached that there was practically no one on this planet who appreciated me the way I was without some magic being involved. Dozens of vampires had fought to save my life but only because hybrid children (like me) were somehow alluring to everyone (supposedly). If that was the case, then why did my classmates think I was nothing special? Why hadn't they struck a conversation with me during the past couple of years? And before you blame me for being antisocial, here is my defence: every time I'd tried speaking to them, I would be met with snickering, snickering and even more snickering. So much for "Oh, honey! Everyone will love you! You're a hybrid, you attract people the way honey attracts bees!". Well, I had to be some sort of honey that was too sweet to be eaten, the kind of honey people would be repulsed by (did such thing even exist?).
The bell rang before the teacher could even give us homework. I now had to have a lunch break which would be followed by a free period. Only, however, I wasn't going to sit in the cafeteria with everybody else. I had learnt that nobody would ever want to sit by a freakshow like me. Luckily, very few people came outside, especially to the corner where I hid.
When I made sure nobody was watching me, I snuck a hand in the pocket of my jeans to retrieve a lighter and a cigarette. Thank the Lord that my parents never checked what I hid in my clothes. I didn't want to have to resort to sneaking stuff in my bra or panties - that would be gross.
I had learnt to smoke as soon as I had begun attending this school. So far nobody seemed to be aware of that. Covering the smell of cigarettes was not as hard. I could easily lie that I had stood next to smokers after classes. After a long conversation with my mother and a therapy session with one of my uncles, my dad had begun to trust me more and to not snoop on my private thoughts (the biggest mistake ever if you are the parent of a teenager).
Smoking made me feel older. It made me somehow feel connected to my human side. I was aware of the consequences, but truth to be told, I didn't care. So what if I died? Everybody died, even vampires! Fear of death, in my honest opinion, was the most ridiculous fear to ever exist. Yes, death was devastating, but it was part of life.
And when I put the cigarette between my lips, ready to inhale and exhale one more time, I closed my eyes, never allowing myself to rush. I wanted to take my time, to live in the moment. Smoking was a privilege. I could only do it outside and as long as I was out of my father's reach. If my mind was safe, then so were my cigarettes as well. I couldn't exist without them anymore. They were the only thing that still kept me where I was.
My sweet safe heaven.
*
Jacob and I were at his place. One week later, I had forgiven him, alas not so easy. I needed something from him and I had the feeling that he was the only one who could give it to me.
We were sitting on the couch in his living room, as the TV was distracting him. That was when I knew I had to execute my plan. If he had imprinted on me and he would do anything for me, then what was the problem in him being the one to have the key to my virginity? I was sick and tired of being supposedly sixteen and pure. And my father could go and shove his 1910s moral values in his ass. Or my mother's. I wasn't like them. I wanted to be cool. And the cool girls had penetrated vaginas. They thought I couldn't hear them in the toilet? Perks of being a vampire-human hybrid.
Or so I had thought.
At first, it was easy to mimic women from books and television and to begin planting small kisses on his neck, as he was still distracted by some crappy TV series. But when I attempted to straddle him, he pushed me away, knocking me onto the carpeted floor.
"What the fuck was that for?", I exclaimed, trying to hide the fact that I was in pain. My bum was throbbing.
"What is wrong with you?", he raised his voice at me. He had never done that. Not even the previous week when I had shouted in his face and hadn't wanted to see him ever again.
Even trying to play dumb didn't work. He continued screaming about how my parents would freak out and how we weren't even in a relationship. Apparently, he wanted to follow my parents' advice and to wait until marriage. Loser.
I squeezed my lips into a thin line and grabbing all of the dignity I still had left, I rushed out of the small house, seeing red. How could he do this to me? Wasn't I supposed to wear the pants in this relationship?
As soon as I was far enough away from the red house, I began pacing back and forth, feeling humiliated. Fuck Jacob. Fuck my classmates and my teachers. Fuck everyone! Only cigarettes didn't betray me. And they never would, because they were objects, toys to calm people down.
I quickly lit a cigarette to calm myself down. I thought I would be left alone, but, of course, God had another plan for me.
I was smoking, trying to be discreet when I heard footsteps. And who did I see when I looked up? Seth Clearwater. Just my fucking luck.
It was too late. He had seen me with a cigarette in my hand. I quickly dropped it and furiously stepped on it with my foot. Seth's eyes never left mine. They looked as if they were going to pop out of his face at any moment. And I couldn't blame him. If anyone I knew in real life saw me like that, they would be disturbed by the view as well. Besides, no one expected the miracle child of the Cullens to be a smoker. Well, too bad. Expectations never lead to good things anyway.
"Nessie? Was that a cigarette in your hand?", he screeched. If he was even a little bit louder than he already was, the whole reservation would hear us. As if it hadn't been more than enough that Seth had already seen me and was going to do God knew what! Especially since he was studying Medicine. I wasn't in the mood for being lectured about smoking. My body - my choice!
From anger, I pulled him by the collar of his shirt so that our eyes could meet. And then I hissed in his face like a snake:
"If you dare to tell anyone about it, I will never forgive you, got it?"
I had never seen Seth behave like that. He looked as if he had seen a bear and had pooped in his pants from fear.
I knew I had been incredibly rude to Seth. But he was Jacob's best friend. I couldn't let him tattle on me.
*
"Renesmee Carlie Cullen! What is this?", my mother roared as soon as I stepped into the main house. My father had insisted on picking me up from school that day. During the entire journey back home, he hadn't spoken a word to me. One damn word. And I was about to find out why.
Then, when we arrived home, I was taken aback. In the family room, everyone had gathered, looking like they had just witnessed a murder. At first, I was confused. What was going on? Had anyone died? And then I noticed that my mother was holding a bag. But not just any - it was the one where I kept every secret.
My heart was beating rapidly. I could feel sweat forming on my entire body. My face was probably flushed like a tomato. Now I looked like I had seen a bear and had pooped in my pants. Karma was a bitch. And I was about to pay for everything I had done.
My mother poured everything... and I mean everything on the coffee table. My hidden packets of cigarettes, my lighters, my stash of money I had been stealing from my parents for quite a while. How else could I afford my goodies? I had a green little monster inside of me that I had to satisfy!
Aunt Rosalie's gasp was the loudest. Both her palms had covered her mouth and her eyes were even wider than mine or Seth's the previous day. I imagined she was in disbelief that her own niece could do stuff like that. Even uncle Emmett couldn't calm her down.
Something was making my heart feel as if it was being squeezed with bare hands. But what was it? Was it guilt? Or was it the shame? Or was it just because all of my secrets had been exposed in a matter of seconds?
And how had my family found out in the first place?
"Seth," my father loudly confirmed my suspicions. He had to have told Jacob, who had to have informed my family. What else?
I wanted to break everything around me. To burn the whole house, including my whole family and me. Or to at least sink in the ground and to never re-appear.
Instead, when I was asked why I had done all of that shit, my body betrayed me. Cries escaped from my mouth as I dropped on the floor like a puppet without somebody to control it. What was the point to fight back? I was defeated. Outnumbered. All I could do was to allow myself to be taken in somebody's cold arms. I wasn't controlling my mind anymore. My father could now see the treatment I had been receiving from my peers for the past couple of years and how it had contributed to my new unhealthy habits. How the imprinting had deceived me, how I had almost lost all of my dignity the previous day. He could see that I wasn't okay and that I hadn't been for a while.
"It will be alright," I heard cooing in my ear, but I couldn't register whose voice it was. Scratch that. I couldn't register anything except for my own wailing.
That night I wept in my mother's cold embrace until I fell asleep. And when I opened my eyes the next morning, it was a new day.
*
Long three years had passed since that day when my secrets had been revealed to my vampiric family. Long years full of therapy sessions, family time and some dates with Jacob until we broke up. He had decided to stay back in La Push and I wanted to move on. I supposed imprint didn't always end up the way Sam and Emily had - with a happy family after all of the troubles they had endured. On the bright side, Leah (Sam's ex) was now in a relationship with Jacob. They wanted me to bring the rings on their wedding day. Aunt Alice was already sewing me a dress.
It was my first day in a new school. I was starting my second cycle of high school again by myself. I was hoping it would be better than the previous one. If not, then I didn't know what I was going to do. I couldn't be cooped up at home all day long. Despite the fact that I was going to be forever young, that didn't mean I couldn't contribute to society somehow. But that would come later on. I wanted to allow myself to be a teenager first, to gain some experience before University and from there I would decide what job to find.
My mother had driven me to school that morning. She thought it wouldn't be so bad, since I was pretending to be a ninth-grader. Most fourteen-year-olds still spent time with their families, including allowing their mothers to pick their clothes for school and to drive them to school. There was still time for everything. No need to rush. I had grown up in the blink of an eye and had caused trouble for everybody.
And now that I was chronologically almost fourteen, I could let myself behave like one. Fourteen-year-olds, as much as they despised it, still needed the adults in their life. And after years of attempting to be a pseudo-adult, so did I. No matter what, I would always need my family.
On the ride to my new school, I had sat in the front and had chosen the music to allow myself to feel calmer. The previous night, I had had a nightmare for the first time in years. I had woken up at three in the morning, drenched in sweat as if I was a little girl again, scared to death by the Volturi. I had barely slept, allowing my nerves to take over me.
Before I left the car, my mom grasped my hand. She wanted me to look at her and so I did. She made me promise her yet again that I wasn't going to do any foolish stuff anymore. Or else those three years of therapy would be for nothing.
I released a breath I had attempted to hold, "I just hope that this high school experience will be better than my previous one, you know," I wanted to chuckle, to be funny. But I found nothing amusing in my words.
My mother looked at me with a hint of concern in her eyes, "Don't worry about that. You'll do great, okay? And if something is wrong, don't hesitate to come to us. We are here for you."
As soon as she was done with her pep talk, I couldn't help but throw my arms around her, holding back tears. This time, everything would be different.

Some Kind of Disaster
A song fic that is part 2 to this. Basically, itâs an angsty sprace fic to Some Kind of Disaster by All Time Low. Mostly cause I felt guilty for breaking Raceâs heart a little bit. Enjoy, yâall.
...
I'm a liar, I'm a cynic. I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I'm a loser, I'm a critic. I'm the ghost of my mistakes. And it's all my fault that I'm still the one you want. What are you after? Some kind of disaster?
Spot felt numb as he walked back to the Lodging House.
It was Race.
They both had to be the stupidest sons if bitches who ever lived, because theyâd known each other since Spot was 13 and Race was 12 and it had never registered in Spotâs mind that he knew most of his friendsâ soulmarks, yet Race was his best friend and heâd never seen his. Never even considered that it might say his name.
I woke up from a never-ending dream. I shut my eyes at 17.
It had been 4 years.
How were they just finding this out now?
Probably because they were stupid. They were goddamn idiots and now everything was messed up.
I lost every moment in between. I felt the sun rise up and swallow me, yeah.
Replaying every interaction theyâd had in the last 4 years, Spot guessed he wasnât particularly surprised.
Heâd started spending time with Race because he found him intriguing. No one else risked crossing a King of Brooklyn if they didnât have toâeven one who hadnât been king very longâand then here came this cocky little shit whoâd apparently been selling at Sheepshead for years and somehow managed to talk every Brooklyn kid who found out into not reporting him to whatever king happened to be in power.
When Spot did find out about him, he hadnât been scared. Not even a little.
Even Jack Kelly, three-time Refuge escapee and all around badass (Spot would never say it to Kellyâs face, but he actually respected his fighting skills.) had a healthy respect for the Brooklyn crown. He knew that Spot could kill him if he needed to, and was understandably wary, even as the best fighter in Manhattan.
Race hadnât shown any respect beyond the normal kind decent people showed other human beings.
And it's all my fault that I'm still the one you want.
So, Spot had always figured that was what had drawn him to Race. What had kept him running back to this gutsy Manhattan kid no matter how annoying he was sometimes or how many other friendships Spot had ended for his friendsâ own sake.
And Spot had ended many friendships over the years. People close to you were just people for you to cry over when they inevitably left you, one way or another. Or they were people who could be used to manipulate or hurt you, and either way, it wasnât worth it.
But heâd never been able to bring himself to push Race away, because Race treated him like he was any other kid. Because Race laughed when Spot asked him if he was scared of him. Because Race could be annoying and sarcastic at all the wrong times, but he also could be so considerate and caring when something was genuinely wrong. There was no one else Spot trusted enough to talk about feelings with.
I'm a liar, I'm a cynic. Iâm a sinner, Iâm a saint.
And yet heâd never thought of Race in the way a soulmate bond was supposed to imply. Heâd never daydreamed about what it might be like to kiss Race, never thought about how nice it felt just to hug him. Never. Because being queer was dangerous when you werenât leading the bloodiest borough in New York and besides, Spot didnât have time for any relationship.
Heâd never thought about it. Never. He couldnât.
Because even if he had, there was the fact that Spot was a killer, he was objectively a terrible person, and Race deserved someone good. He deserved someone who it wasnât dangerous to be with, and if he couldnât want a girl, he deserved a nice boy who could give him an easy relationship. Or, as easy as two boys could be.
I'm a loser, I'm a critic. I'm the ghost of my mistakes.
That would never be Spot. He could never give Race what he deserved, which was why, despite the look on his soulmateâs face when he pulled back from that kiss, he had to do it. He had to push him awayâhad to finally force himself to push Race awayâbecause if he didnât, Race would end up stuck with a broken, complicated killer who didnât deserve him.
And itâs all my fault that Iâm still the one you want. So what are you after?
That didnât mean the pain on Raceâs face hadnât been agony to witness. It was Spotâs fault, he knew, for not pushing him away sooner.
He kept all his other friends at armâs length for a reason. It was his own damn fault that Race was hurting right now, because if heâd just pushed him away when he should have, Race wouldnât have developed any kind of feelings for him.
Some kind of disaster?
And he knew that Race did have feelings for him, because Spot knew Race, and Race wasnât the kind of dumbass to kiss someone just because they were soulmates.
God, Spot wished he could wish that never happened. In truth, he couldnât stop thinking about it, because it had been full of uncertainty but it was good. He totally hadnât imagined kissing Race before, but if he had, it still would have been better than anything he could imagine. He hadnât wanted to stop even as he pushed him away.
I crashed down from a high that felt so real.
Spot was fighting a smile over the fact that Race had kissed him, which was stupid because he wasnât a goddamn teenage girl.
I never knew how much it would hurt to feel.
Thinking again about how hurt Race had looked when he pushed him away, it wasnât hard not to smile anymore.
Even without the fact that they were soulmates, even if you disregarded them being best friends, Racetrack Higgins was one of the few genuinely nice people in the world. Spot genuinely couldnât imagine wanting to hurt him.
You gotta hurt sometimes to learn to heal.
He would recover. Heâd pick himself up and find some other boy and Spot could pretend it didnât ache to even think about seeing him with someone else.
Well, imagining Race happy with someone else was better than imagining him hurting.
You gotta get back up and learn to deal. Yeah.
And Spot would be fine. Love wasnât something that had ever been in the cards for him. He would be lucky if he lived to 20 as it was, and honestly... well, he couldnât imagine what his life would look like when he was anything other than a Newsie. He knew heâd have to move on eventually, but...
Well, wherever he ended up, Spot was sure it wouldnât be with a bouncy boy with a blue-eyed smirk that could melt anyoneâs heart.
Nope. It hadnât melted Spotâs. It definitely hadnât. He couldnât think about that.
And it's all my fault that I'm still the one you want.
âWhy do you look like someone spat in your sandwich?â
Shit. Spot hadnât expected anyone to be waiting up for him, but a couple of his friends had.
Or maybe Hotshot and Joey just felt like playing cards in the common room at 9:00 at night when they had work tomorrow. Who knew?
Iâm a liar, Iâm a cynic. Iâm a sinner, Iâm a saint.
âIâm fine, Hotshot,â Spot mumbled, heading for the stairs.
âThat ainât super convincinâ, Spot,â Joey remarked, âIf youâs gonna lie, can ya at least do it well?â
Hotshot slapped her in the arm, âSpot, what is it?â
Screw it. Spot had to talk to someone about this, and Hotshot was his second. He trusted him more than just about anyone.
âHey, Jo, can you go upstairs?â
Joey looked up from her cards, registered that Spot was serious, and put the cards down, standing up and heading for the stairs.
âGuess I can kick Hotshotâs ass in poker tomorrow,â she said, âHave a good talk, boys.â
Iâm a loser, Iâm a critic. Iâm the ghost of my mistakes.
Spot sat down in the seat Joey had been in, waiting until he heard her get to the top of the stairs to untie the fabric covering his wrist.
âYou remember this, right?â
Hotshot nodded, untieing his own, âSo, this is âbout Anthony?â
âI guess.â
âWait, did ya find him?!â
âDid you find Isaac?â
Hotshot hesitated.
âWait, did you? When?â Spot demanded, âDid ya find your soulmate and not tell me?â
Hotshot laughed nervously, âMaybe?â
âWho?â
âUm...â Hotshot looked at the floor, âItâs... itâs Ike. Heâs a Manhattan boy. We found out maybe six months ago. Weâs been meetinâ up in secret for a few months, but... well, so far itâs workinâ.â
Spot realized that... well, Hotshot was an angry, defiant 12-year-old when he first came to Brooklyn. Now, he was an angry, defiant 15-year-old. He ran hot. They called him âHotshotâ for a reason.
But a few months ago, heâd started cooling down a little. He was calmer. Happier. He still was a bit too confrontational for his own good, but Spot hadnât had to bail his little brother (because Hotshot was his little brother, blood be damned) out of a fight in a while. Heâd noticed the smile that came out more often, but just... hadnât asked about it.
âThatâs...â Spot forced a smile, âThatâs great. Iâm happy for ya, kid.â
âSo, whatâs the story with Anthony?â Hotshot asked, âI takes it by the look on your face, whatever it is didnât go well.â
âIt... itâs complicated.â
âWell, what is it?â Hotshot urged, âWhat happened?â
Spotâs instinct was to not tell him. His instinct was to just run away and talk to someone he was more comfortable with talking to.
But he wasnât comfortable with anyone more than Hotshot. No one except Race. And his head was still a little hazy from the alcohol, so he could blame it on that.
âI pushed him away.â
Hotshot nodded, âOkay. I did the same thing.â
Spot didnât expect that, âWait, what?â
âI pushed him away when I found outârelationships are messy and dumb, right? Only the little shit wouldnât leave me alone. He kept findinâ any excuse to come see me. It took him gettinâ sick and finally stayinâ away for a few days for me to realize I didnât want him to.â
Well, that wasnât Spotâs problem. He wasnât pushing Race away because he didnât want him. He was pushing him away because he knew that confident, funny dumbass deserved better than him.
Spot took a deep breath, âItâs Race.â
âOh, shit. Wait... havenât ya known him forââ
âYears, yeah,â Spot admitted, âAnd weâs just figurinâ it out now. Weâre stupid. I get it.â
âStill... Race is your best friend. Why would you push him away?â
Spot scoffed, âHotshot, ya know what kind of person I am, right?â
âYeah..?â he looked confused, âThis is a problem because..?â
âI donât deserve him.â
Hotshot was silent for a second before banging his head on the table.
âWhatââ
âYa think I deserve Ike?â he asked, rolling his eyes, âYou had to pull me off a Harlem kid before I killed him, once, Spot.â
âYeah, butââ
âI ainât a good person, either. Hell, most of Brooklyn ainât. But do ya see the rest of us mopinâ âbout not beinâ good enough for our soulmates? Do you actually know what âsoulmatesâ means?â
âYes,â Spot growled, âIt means fate made a goddamn mistake, cause Race is so good, and he deserves better than me.â
âBut youâre his soulmate,â Hotshot argued, âThat means nobody can make him happy like you can and... dammit Spot, even if ya donât deserve him, he deserves to be happy. So if ya really care, just... the best you can do for him is to suck it up, accept youâll never deserve him, and love him, anyway.â
âI.... I donât...â
The words stuck in his throat. He couldnât say that he didnât love Race.
He couldnât say that he did, though, either.
âI thought you was supposed to be the wise one,â Hotshot muttered, âBeinâ leader and a couple years older than me. Thought youâs supposed to have more figured out.â
Spot shrugged, âI probably am.â
And itâs all my fault that Iâm still the one you want. So what are you after? Some kind of disaster?
Spot stalled until the next day, waiting until after selling time and then hurrying over to catch his soulmate before he left for Manhattan.
Race looked like... like someone had blown out a candle inside him. Sad didnât quite cover it.
When he saw Spot, he froze, somewhere between afraid, angry, and hopeful, but thankfully not trying to run as he watched him approach.
Spot took a deep breath, âCan we talk?â
Race seemed to be pondering the options before he nodded once, jerking his chin towards his usual hangout place under the stands.
Well I've sung this song a thousand times.
âSo, what is it?â Race asked, kind of annoyed-sounding.
Spot knew him well enough to know that he was using faked anger to cover up his real feelings, though he wasnât sure what said feelings were. He decided not to point that out.
âWhat?â Race asked again, an impatient edge in his voice as Spot struggled for words.
He had no idea what to say. This was... he usually knew what to say to Race. Race was his best friend. Things were easy and safe with Race.
Race was his soulmate. He didnât know what to say about that.
I wore the crown, I sold the lie.
âI think I owe ya an explanation,â he said finally.
Race snorted, âWhatâs there to say? Soulmates ainât always a guarantee. Sometimes fate makes mistakes, and I ainât gonna try to make you want me, Spottie, soââ
âI do,â Spot interrupted, âOr... I donât... not.â
âWhat?â
There was hope and fear in that word.
I lived the life and paid for every crime, yeah.
Spot took a deep breath, shoving down his nerves. Race deserved the truth.
âThere are things I canât say, Racer, but donât think for a second that I pushed ya away because I donât have... feelings. Believe me, itâs frustratinâ that I do, but... I donât deserve you. Plain and simple. Iâve got more blood on my hands than you should have to deal with.â
Race looked at the ground as he took a step closer to Spot.
âAinât that my decision to make?â
His voice was softer, now, but Spot still knew he needed to choose his words carefully.
It's all downhill 'til it's a climb. Through blood and tears, but I don't mind.
âI canât give ya everything you deserve,â he said, âI canât. Itâs a fact. You deserve someone who isnât a damaged killer whoâs angry all the time.â
âI donât give a fuck what I deserve,â Race said quietly, âI already know everything youâve had to do to survive, Spot. I ainât ran yet and I ainât gonna. If ya donât want me, you can just say so. But if you do, you need to say it right now.â
âI donât know if I can,â Spot admitted, âRace, I push everyone away because itâs... itâs safer.â
âSo let me be the one person you donât push away. Ya never have before we found out âbout this.â
âThis is different. Havinâ a friend is one thing. A lover... a soulmate... thatâs different.â
I'll just keep singing on and on and on.
âI donât care,â Race insisted, âSpot, itâs my choice what I want to take on. And I know beinâ with you, Iâd be takinâ on danger and a whole lot of complications, but I donât care. Iâll take it all on if youâll let me.â
Spot took a deep breath. He replayed Hotshotâs words in his head, knowing that he didnât deserve Race, but Race deserved to be happy. He was terrified to let someone get that close to him, but...
Well, to be honest, Race already was that close. Race had been breaking down his walls since he was 13, and if they got together, not that much would actually change because they already knew every part of each other.
And it's all my fault that I'm still the one you want...
âI donât deserve you,â Spot said slowly, âAnd there are things I donât know if Iâll ever be able to say to you, but... Iâm willinâ to try. I want to try.â
Race smiled, âIs that the truth?â
Iâm a liar, Iâm a cynic.
Spot realized right then how close together they were standing.
Maybe it was still annoying to him how he had to look up a bit to look Race in the eye. It wasnât fair, considering Spot was actually a little under a year older.
Iâm a sinner, Iâm a saint.
âYes,â he mumbled, âThatâs the truth.â
It was. Because even if it was hard to admit it to himself, Spot did want Race, and he was glad he was his soulmate.
Iâm a loser, Iâm a critic. Iâm the ghost of my mistakes.
Race looked around, checking that no one was around. It was late enough that no one was. They probably wouldnât be walked in on here.
Spot was a little nervous about what that meant, but a little excited, too, as Race turned back to him with a cheeky little smirk.
âMay I?â
And itâs all my fault that Iâm still the one you want.
Spot nodded, grabbing the front of Raceâs shirt, himself, to pull him into a kiss like the one heâd been too scared to return last night.
Yeah, itâs all my fault that Iâm still the one you want. So what are you after? Some kind of disaster?

(dorks!!!!!)
âWow.â
âYeah...â Yoongi lets out a hefty breath heâs been holding since Jimin had mentioned the Will. Heâd known his friends were multimillionaires. But never quite the exact aggregated amount of their wealth. Which he now knew was A Lot.
âWait so let me get this straight, your dad has to marry Amber in order for you to get the money - what if he doesnât?â
The unexpected question - that Jimin or Jin didnât even take into consideration - makes Jin smack his younger brother on the back of his head. Light enough that Jiminâs exaggerated flinching was uncalled for.
âHe should if Jimin here, can keep his dick in his pants.â
âPlease! You slept with her before me, donât act so self righteous.â Jiminâs scowl only earns him another glare from Seokjin.
âOnce. Whereas you will probably make her your booty call.â
âWell I have someone else in mind for that now.â The smirk on his face is mirrored by Yoongi who just shakes his head at his friendâs unadulterated behaviour.
âGood. Call her from now on.â Jin doesnât seem to catch on to who Jimin is referring to but it does remind him about your departure not too long ago. Hoseok seems to have the same idea when he speaks up before him.
âSpeaking of, you assholes better have made sure y/n wasnât outside at least this time.â His eyes donât flicker away from his phone as he says so, making no move to get up and check if you had in fact, left.
âAre any of you going to check?â Jin knows the answer but somehow expects a different outcome. Negative.
âNot my house.â Yoongi is leaning back, stretching his arms behind his head to get comfortable.
Shaking his head at his useless friends and even more useless brother - he opts to have a look himself.
âIâll be back. Meanwhile you peasants think up an idea on how to retrieve that will.â
âExcuse me?â Hoseokâs eyes are wide as if Seokjin told him he was an illegitimate child.
âHyung you donât have the inheritance yet. If speaking solely of net worth, mine is more than yours.â His record producer friendâs shit eating grin is well earned but doesnât mean it doesnât make Seokjin want to get this plan in motion sooner.
âYeah yeah..â Heâs not paying much attention to their mindless chatter about Jiminâs impromptu vacation.
A few strides later, heâs opening the golden doorknob carefully. That way if you were outside - which would be quite dumb of you he thinks - heâd be able to catch you red handed. Right outside the door, he doesnât find anyone. He lets out a sigh of relief at the peacefully empty hallway. No servants or butlers and definitely not your cute little frame hovering in places you shouldnât be.
Just when heâs about to head back inside - he hears the faint noise. Immediately, his feet are going towards it - not quite being able to pinpoint what exactly was that he could hear. Was there someone else lurking nearby? God. Were the staff always this nosey in this house? Then again he would know if he paid much attention even if he saw nothing wrong with not doing so.
Jin strains his neck further, hoping to see whoever it was, without being all too visible as he stood behind the massive vase in the hallway. The next sound he hears though, inevitably someone talking - worries him just slightly. Walking forward until he was nearing another room - there you were, sitting against the wall with your back hunched over. Seokjin couldnât see your face but your voice was telling enough to let him know of your distressed state. You were sitting on the floor, hand covering your mouth to seemingly hold back a cry.
Who were you talking to? And where was the girl who not even half an hour ago blackmailed his brother and friend?
âI-Iâm okay. I just miss you.â Your quaint, undoubtedly overwrought whisper in to the phone makes his chest constrict.
âIâll let you know. I have to go now Nana. I love you.â
Heâd never witnessed someone so rawly feeling emotions that werenât joy or ecstatic even. The most he was used to was anger from his father. Frustration from his friends. Mostly bliss on his own. But never something like this. You sounded defeated and scared. Were you really crying because of him? He hadnât anticipated that immensity the empathy would flood into him. Heâd never really gotten upset and nor did he believe his brain had the chemicals to make the reaction happen which would allow him to feel said emotions.
He watched you - and heard - let out soft whimpers into your lap. His hands suddenly started to sweat and his feet itch to walk forward but he remained rooted in place. A few moments later, you were getting up, dusting your frumpy uniform before storming off to who knows where with a determined stomp to your steps. A small grin tugging at his lips at your determination. It was more than likely that you were feeling upset and intimidated by the situation you found yourself in. So why did Jin still not call it off when he went back inside the room?
He couldnât answer that even if he tried. Maybe he was a masochist. Maybe he really did not have any regard for anyone but himself. It certainly wasnât because he wanted to keep tabs on you.
âYou good brother?â Jimin instantly notices his older brotherâs more sinister expression.
âWhat are you looking so happy for?â Jin counteracts before Jimin can try and analyse him any further. He didnât do well with emotions other than hunger, ecstasy and horny.
âDid you hear? Itâs all over the news.â Hoseok is laughing obnoxiously loudly, shoving his wide screen phone in Jinâs face.
A familiar face is greeting him right next to his eyes - if only Hoseok would move the offending phone slightly back, Jesus. Taehyungâs bright blue hair is the front page of the news article. His hand is up a modelâs skirt and face plastered on hers. The next set of pictures is him being spotted at a museum with his Posse before they tastefully switch to him at an elite rooftop club. His friend was always the centre of attention and quite obviously thrived on it.
He was very liberated and couldnât careless of the strict rules his family lived by. Boy would he be in trouble if he comes back before his newest scandal dies down.
âWhatâs he done now?â Yoongiâs just shaking his head - being the older brother of said boy and rightfully being pissed off. He usually took the heat for his younger brotherâs shenanigans.
âJust shoved his face in between a modelâs tits for all to see. Nothing new.â The tick in Yoongiâs voice is all too familiar. He always had to do damage control while Taehyung partied the night away. He felt for his friend sometimes, he really did.
âWell, shit. Whatâs the damage?â
âIf iâm lucky, just more shame.â Yoongiâs gaze turns back up to the ceiling, hands stretched behind him to cushion his head.
âHyung, you really donât have to keep being the martyr for him. Let him face the music when he gets back. Grow the fuck up.â Hoseok canât help but feel like a broken record whenever he gives yoongi advice.
No matter how stubborn and wilfully isolated Yoongi remained from the rest of the world, he insisted on protecting his younger brother as much as he could. It wouldâve been admirable if it was a rarity. Saving Taehyungâs delinquent ass was like yoongiâs day job at this point.Yoongi just shook his head, not dismissing Hoseokâs advice completely even if it seemed so that way.
âIâm more selfish than you think Hoseokie.â What did he mean by that? That story was for another day.
âLadies, ladies,â Jimin eyes his older brothers, holding out his hands in a gesture to settle everyone down, âLetâs get back to business. Taehyung whoring around is like being surprised to find out that a lion eats meat.â
âWhat the fuck kind of analogy is that?â Hoseok is chuckling at Yoongiâs taunting but Jimin barely blinks.
âWhat is it Jiminie? Youâve had another revelation?â Standing and pacing was not something Jin had ever done before. And he wasnât about to act like a commoner just because of a little maid whoâd caught him off guard.
Taking a seat back at the couch, Jin takes the scotch from Jimin before settling his attention back on to the matter at hand.
âWe need to use our newest asset.â Jiminâs devilish smile is nothing short of mischievous.
And Jin was very familiar with that look. He knew that his little brother was intrigued and despite having his eye on the prize, no doubt, he wasnât thinking all business anymore. There werenât many things that Jin and Jimin couldnât have. In fact, he would argue that even if he tried to spend all his money - he wouldnât be able to. Jin was only 27 and yet he felt like he was on his ninth life - all previous deaths were due to absolute boredom. Women flocked him to without him having to bat an eyelash, had too many servants to count, too many places to sleep and too little to want. Could he get bored of being rich? Not ever. But was he bored with things he could do that came with being rich.
Thatâs why he was always actively looking to spend his wealth on hobbies and objects that were unattainable. Dangerous. Something that was forbidden to even a man like him who could have anything. And at this very moment - it was you. It was hard to pretend that Jimin wasnât also well aware of that fact. Hoseok and Yoongi were merely held back because they hadnât received the âgo-aheadâ from either himself or Jimin. That they were allowed to play with such a pretty thing like you. They were all good-looking, incredibly so, and extremely wealthy. It was a default that people wanted to be as close to them as possible. Not you. When Jimin had crowded your space, you looked ready to bolt. Like you would be anywhere but in that room with all three of them. And when your body had reacted quite the opposite way, clinging onto Jimin and Hoseok - it was he could do, watch in awe. Jin rarely saw people at war with themselves when it came to physical intimacy with himself or any of his friends.
Heâd slept with his fair share of attractive house staff but never encountered someone like you. And that had to be why he was inexplicably attracted to you. Nothing more. The look on Jiminâs face meant he was too and he wanted to play with his meal.
âWhat do you propose? Shall we take turns trying to maximise our profits from said asset?â Hoseokâs shit-eating grin accompanied with his schoolgirl giggle annoys Jin more than usual but he doesnât mention it.
Letting the younger ones have some fun, with his fists clenched. He needed another drink.
âWell, I found out from Amber that there have been some staff changes to the Manor and I wonder if our little maid being here has something to do with that. Minhyuk doesnât work here anymore.â
âAnd?â Yoongi sounds just as bored as Jin probably looks.
âAnd, you little shits, he used to work in fatherâs wing. Know what that means? Hm?â Jimin is looking around at his older brothers like they are supposed to be on the same page.
And while it makes sense that the other two who didnât live here were lost - it baffles Jin that he didnât know of the change when heâs been here far longer than Jimin. How does he know so much in so little time? Though it clicks for him just before Jimin opens the pandoraâs box.
âIt means that y/n works there. Sheâs the only new hire and none of the other staff have been moved around.â
âAnd let me guess, you want to seduce her into breaking into fatherâs office and snoop around?â
Jimin is gasping in mock shock at Jin putting two and two together like the drama queen he is. âPrecisely. Knew your brain hadnât hibernated permanently.â
âYah, shut up before I expose you and get you cut out of the will entirely.â
âYou wonât. Youâve got too much to lose.â Jimin is tilting his head innocently, a juxtaposition between his words and actions.
Jimin was a slithery snake, that much Jin knew. Hell, he was often proud of his younger brotherâs extraordinary mind but even Jin knew that he was sharp underneath his soft exterior and disarming smiles. Which meant that heâd made up his mind to include you into their devious plan. But something about the phone call Jin had witnessed before, he felt a little uneasy in the pit of his stomach. The feeling is all too foreign and unfamiliar that he has to place a hand on his abdomen.
âWell boys, just let me know when my turn is. She was too cute for me to pass up on. Now if you excuse me, I have to pick up Taehyung.â
Yoongiâs passive face turns up into a scowl at the mention of his younger brother. âGood. At least heâs bringing back enough of his brain cells to know not to ask me any favours for a while.â
âThatâs why he called me, hyung. Iâll drop him off at the Hilton.â Yoongi murmurs a thanks at Hoseok, glad that his friend could sense that Yoongi would rip Taehyung a new one unless he took some time to cool down. He already had to hang up on his fatherâs personal secretary twice since the news broke out.
âLater sluts.â
âBye hyung.â Jimin is waving Hoseok goodbye before he finally sits, looking expectantly at Jin.
âSo, what do you say? You in for some adventure? Itâs been a while since I fucked someone I wasnât supposed to.â
His pursed lips would have you think he was talking about a physics phenomenon and not sex. âYeah? And what do you suppose is called when you sleep with your future step-mother?â
His smile is blinding. âThe family jewels. Iâve just as much right as father now.â
âJesus christ.â Yoongi mumbles before putting down his half empty glass. âIâm just glad I wonât have to merge with that obnoxious knob my father keeps insisting I do business with to expand. Tell me whatâs needed of me and then wire me the money. No need for details that donât concern me.â
Stretching like a feline, Yoongi takes his leave. Leaving Jin to marinate a little more in his conflicting feelings toward Jimin's pet project. Well, he did willingly take part but that was before the five foot something intrusion in their plans. There wasn't anything particularly extraordinary about you. So why was Jin finding it so difficult to separate himself from the situation like he usually was able to?
"Jin hyung?"
"Yeah?" Pretending that he wasn't distracted by any thoughts of you, Jin stares back at Jimin's smirking face. He's holding a sheet in his hand, waving it around like he's going to cast a spell.
"Let's figure out the logistics here shall we?"
"You do that on your own brother. I've got some business to attend to." The clink of his heavy scotch glass is definite as he sets it down.
Jimin doesn't argue and that in itself is suspicious. Giving Jimin a pat on the back, Jin heads out with a mission to let off some steam at the gym. Just knowing you were somewhere in the Manor put him on edge and he wasn't about to flail like a teenager in front of you should he encounter you again.
"I'll do that. I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Maybe."
___________________________________________________________________________
"Y/n, Please make sure you are supervising the staff as they move through the rooms. I'd like you to personally go through the checklist before my inspection. Mr. Kim will be spending a lot more time in his home office starting the week after next and we cannot afford the Manor to be anything short of impeccable."
Anders was talking just as fast as he was walking, causing you to almost have to jog besides him as he fired off the list of chores. it was odd enough that you still had a job, let alone climbing up the rank and supervising other staff. In Mr. Kim's wing no less. For a split second you thought you were part of some joke and any second you'll be laid off. But Anders had all but looked through you like it was any other day of work.
"And please, take note that due to the eventful nature of Mr. Kim's work, we will be expecting many visitors therefore everything needs to be tidied up before and after Mr. Kim's work hours. you will be rostered on to take care of his wing, including the guest rooms, living room, library and the restrooms. Mr. Kim's office will be out of bounds and I shall take care of that room. understood, dear?"
Anders is looking at you warmly for the first time today and like a true airhead that you'd been acting these days, it takes a few seconds for you to nod at him.
"Yes sir. Will I be working the regular hours or will my shift hours be changed?"
"I presume it will be on a weekly basis for a little while. For this week you will be required to tend to Master Kim's quarters after 5pm and get everything set up for the next day. Of course, with the exception of today."
His smile is kind and lighthearted. You know he isn't this forthcoming to all of the staff. Perhaps your age being the closest to his own children gives you the soft advantage. Nonetheless, you are thankful for the little bit of gentleness, guidance and just a light hand ever since you'd started working here. And maybe Anders has a little bit of hand in you getting this sort of promotion in such a short amount of time.
"Okay. I will get to it right away." Tucking your notebook in your apron, you nod at him.
"Y/n?"
"Yes?" Your heart is thumping too loudly, too fast in your chest. The events of yesterday flooding in your mind.
But Anders didn't seem to display any anger so far.
"I say this for your own safety, dear. Try your absolute best to keep a respectful distance between the people of the house and yourself."
"O-Okay." Spinning right around, you bolt.
There was no way Anders didnât know something. He had to have known that something incredibly inappropriate happened, right? Did Mr. Kimâs sons complain about you? There was no way they probably didnât make you seem like a creep. Snooping around their house like paparazzi. Just thinking about the events of yesterday made the blood rush to your face fast enough to make you slightly dizzy. It still felt like a fever dream. Something that was far too.... astounding to have every happened to you. You could count on one hand how many times something memorable happened to you in your short life. And yesterday was equally memorable as well as terrifying. This uncertainty you felt with your place in the Manor was something you didnât want to feel much longer.
The more you thought about it last night, the more angry you became at yourself. How selfish could you be to put your job in jeopardy? Especially when you have so many people counting on you to keep it for a long while. You had stupidly put yourself in the midst of some money war happening between very powerful people. Now youâd become someone for them to play with or at least thatâs what you felt like. Yes the kissing was great, your traitorous body soaked up the physical intimacy like a starved nymphomaniac but at what cost? Tossing and turning, sleeping had been futile.
And maybe your red eyes gave Anders some indication about what had been troubling you. Still, you were adamant on keeping yourself away from their traps. No matter how beautiful and alluring their words were. No matter how beautiful each one of them were. They were unattainable and a lowly worker like you was never going to be someone worth their respect. Head filled with many thoughts, you march towards the crowd of people awaiting your instructions.
You will not think about them. Especially him. Kim Seokjin.
______________________________________________________________
A week goes by much easier and uneventfully than you had expected it to be. And the more days that pass, the more that one encounter feels like a fever dream. Like it happened in the fantasy realm. Something twisted conjured up by your brain after it got tired of your insipid life. Youâd managed to speak to your grandma on a regular basis to make sure she wasnât worried after your out of the ordinary tearful conversation with her. As usual, your mother had not been interested in talking with you and it hurt you just like it always did. Though it was becoming so normal and expected that you suspected your numbness to it soon. You awaited that day.
âMiss. y/n, would you like me to change the glasses from the liquor table? One seems to have broken...â
One of the stafferâs, Jihoon, trails off as he inspects the damage. Your eyebrows furrow at his observation. You left everything in place last night before leaving. No broken glass anywhere. Was someone here after hours? Mr. Kimâs schedule didnât show any scheduled meetings after 6pm - which was unusual anyway as he finished up by 5pm most days.
âThatâs odd. Iâm sure this wasnât broken.â There are a few shards of glass peeking out from the bottom of the liquor cabinet and sure enough, when you bend down, you can see the remains of the glass pushed underneath it.
âOh boy. Be careful when you clean that up Jihoon. Iâll go get a new set.â
âMaybe one of the masters weâre here.â Jihoon shrugs absentmindedly, proceeding to vacuum all the shards and the mention of the other men in the house makes you jolt like youâre the one vacuuming glass into your bare hands.
âY-Yeah. Iâll be right back. Youâre free to go when youâre done. Iâll do the last sweep before calling Mr. Anders.â
âOkay! See you tomorrow noona!â You say your goodbyes before heading to the storage room. Jihoon had been here overnight so you wanted to let him rest as quickly as possible.
Feet rushing you out quickly, it feels like every breath is being stolen out of your lungs while the memories from last week are rushing into your empty brain. Why couldnât you get yourself together? It was one incident. Yet, your whole life seemed to revolve around it. It was getting pathetic. You hadnât seen any of the boys since then and the more days passed, the more it was clear that they played around with the staff on the regular. You werenât anyone special. The more it made you angry that you let it happen. How dare they treat you like a common groupie? You may be just a household worker but that didnât mean these rich trust fund babies should treat you like this.
All the comebacks you could have said then were coming to the tip of your tongue now. Especially for the tall, handsome eldest with lips of sin. Lips that didnât touch yours and annoyed you so much for some reason. If you saw him again, he was going to get an earful!
Your emotions were getting the best of you. So much so that the force with which you were pushing in the key with to unlock the  storage room was rattling the mahogany door rather loudly. Thankfully, before you disturb the peace down in the basement even more, youâve opened the door. Itâs only the second time youâre here as you were not allowed the key before. Seeing as you managed Mr. Kimâs wing, it was given to you by Anders to keep with you at all times.
Locking the storage room again after youâve grabbed a new case of - extremely expensive - glasses, you make the tread back to the meeting room. The Manor is quiet at this time in the morning. The only activity most likely happening in the kitchen while breakfast is prepared. You were on time for all your tasks regarding Mr. Kimâs wing, a spring in your step as you thought about having a cup of tea with the cooks in the spare time you had. The next task was to get everything ready for tomorrowâs Family dinner that Mr. Kim was hosting. Thankfully you didnât need to be there. You may have been promoted but you were not allowed to stay for the intimate family gatherings as only the very essential staff stayed. You could understand given the influence of the people present in the home and how anything could be made a spectacle if it were to get out.
âOh Y/n, glad I caught you.â Anders is walking towards you down the hall.
âMr. Anders.â Heâs smiling as he approaches, eyeing the box in your hands.
âEverything looks good. I have inspected the room. I presume these glasses are for the liquor cabinet?â
âOh, yes they are. Did Jihoon call you? I was about to do a last sweep before paging you.â
His kind smile greets you as he shakes his head. âNo need. Everything looks remarkable. You are doing a wonderful job, dear. Join the others in the kitchen for some tea and muffins. They smell especially good today.â
Heâs walking down the hall to Mr. Kimâs office as he reminds you of the treats. Itâs such a wonderful morning now that Anders has acknowledged your hard work too. You must really be doing a good job. Without wasting any time, you walk a little too fast to the meeting room to display the glasses. Before you can though, a call for your name stops you in your tracks.
âIn a hurry?â The deep, mocking tone of a certain someone you were trying to avoid is all you can hear.
Taking a few steps back until you are facing the doorway where you heard his voice from, you come face to face with an image only your imagination tried to conjure on nights you were so, so tired. The real thing though, was far more picturesque. The eldest Kim, Seokjin, stood there, lean muscle on display while his jeans hung low. Hair wet and skin looking slightly flushed due to the shower you assume he just had, judging from the towel around his neck. Even if you tried, you wouldnât be able to stop your eyes from memorising each ridge on his abdomen. There was something about seeing him in casual wear when you have only ever witnessed him in slacks and expensive silk shirts.
âAre you done? I get that I'm the most handsome man youâve ever seen but the staring does get old.â Heâs sighing as if he bears a great burden on his shoulders.
"I wasn't- wasn't star-"
"Anyway. Bring me a glass of scotch will you?" He cuts you off before you can actually properly say anything.
Now sitting on the plush couch with his legs spread and an arm slung behind the backrest. Looking like something out of a magazine cover. Ugh! He was so infuriating. He didn't even respect you enough to let you respond to his ludicrous remarks! Nevertheless, you were in no position to be angry. He was your boss after all. And after last week, you weren't about to stir up trouble and get yourself fired.
You must have been zoning out for a little too long because you can feel Seokjin's stare burning a hole through you. His gaze indifferent and apathetic. "Well?"
"Yes... Sir." Your mouth aches from the force with which you clenched your jaw before answering.
Standing a good distance away from him really helped your mental state. You were much more clam and composed. You had space to think. Unlike when you were in that room last week. His proximity made it worse for you to think let alone compose a coherent sentence to stop whatever the men were practically forcing you into. Who even makes a deal with a servant anyway? They could toss you out whenever they want to, that's for sure. So really, they were playing with you and you'd been nervous and scared and made that stupid call back home like the gullible sheep you were. That's what rich people with too much free time on their hands did. Play with innocent people's feelings. Not knowing how much trouble it may cause for them. So, whatever. You weren't going to think about it and let them get the best of you again.
Turning swiftly, you complete your original task of replacing the liquor glasses. Carefully pouring one for Seokjin - despite your dislike for the man - as to not pour too much or too little. He's in the same position when you left, albeit, his body more relaxed into the sofa than before as he flicks through the channels. The noises erupting in the room suddenly, however, make you halt in your tracks like you just witnessed some sort of tragedy. The high pitched moans and whimpers are bouncing off the walls all too clearly. The sounds are so pornographic it has your whole body on fire and your pulse racing. Taking a look at the TV - of course, it actually is porn. And what do you know, that's enough to rattle you once more as you almost see it happening in slow motion.
The glass that was weighty and secure on the tray in your hands; now tumbling to the tiled floor like it was fairy floss dissolving in your hands. The loud shatter compared to the very obtuse and unmoving reaction from Seokjin is too metaphorical for you to not notice. This incident now can pretty much sum up your encounters with him. Seokjin hasn't moved an inch, casually watching porn like it was the weather man. All the while you're glancing frantically at him and then the floor, then back at him and back to the floor where they shattered glass is scattered on the floor.
"I'm- I'm so sorry, sir! I'll clean this u-up." What even was happening. How the hell do you apologise with those noises in the background?!
"Don't interrupt. You've already broken expensive glass, don't sully my enjoyment of the film too." Again, he has yet to even look at you.
"This is hardly a film." The words escape you a little too quickly and a little too loud. And of course, Seokjin would notice now. If only because of your ticked tone and the scoff thatâs bound to get you in trouble.
âAny movie that Iâm in is worth watching.â
âExcuse me?â What was he talking about?
Thatâs when all plans of being poised and professional go out the window. Due to one rookie mistake. Taking the bait that he dangled in front of you because you turn around like a fool and look at the large TV screen. The sight is slightly unexpected. You had expected to see porn, of course. But not porn that included Seokjin. Sure enough, itâs hard to deny that itâs really him behind a really attractive blonde, someone you recognised from a lot of hollywood movies, flexing his biceps as he intently stared at the camera. You could feel your body tightening up, your thighs connecting with each other on instinct. You can feel the perspiration build up on your skin, your heart rate a million miles an hour. Seokjin was naked in all his glory, hair still looking as if it had just been styled in that effortless way. Even though the snapping of his hips behind the woman displayed how much his muscles were being exerted. The scene was mesmerising. His smouldering eyes holding yours captive that you forget that he was actually there in the flesh. Currently watching you look at the screen like a pervert.
Seokjinâs chuckle breaks your blatant staring at his naked form in the video that was playing by pausing it. So you had no other choice then to look back at his smirking face. The wheels turning in your head, trying to find a viable excuse to get out of another uncomfortable situation you seem to have pulled yourself into just because you canât help your reactions. The anger was also starting to creep up your spine, getting dangerously close to the part of your brain that failed to control your impulsivity. All because Kim Seokjin was pushing you to your limits. So instead of making a comment on how you had shamelessly watched a good minute of his sextape with some A-List actress, you clear your throat and look him dead in the eye no matter how hard it was after seeing what you had.
âI will have Jihoon bring you another glass and clean this up right away.â Taking a small bow, you cheer internally that you didnât stutter.
âI donât want Jihoon. I want you.â Your breath hitches at the heat in his words. Somehow they didnât convey the appropriate message considering the context.
âS-Sorry?â Seokjin clears his throat, looking back at the TV before speaking again.
âTo clean up this mess.â He waves his hand at the shattered glass again, flicking the TV to some cartoon channel.
âO-Okay.â
âAw, did I miss all the fun?â The cheery voice from the doorway finally takes Seokjinâs attention away from you to his younger brother.
âIf by fun you mean the maid breaking house property then, no. Iâm sure sheâll make more mayhem soon enough.â
âIf you can kindly wait till iâm out of earshot to discuss me, that will be great!â
Itâs like youâve asked them for 2 million dollars or something because Jiminâs eyebrows have shot so far up his forward youâre worried that his eyes might fall out of their sockets. Seokjin is looking at you, really looking at you, for the first time it seems. Even you hadnât expected to lose your cool because youâre slapping your hand over your mouth, knowing you have definitely screwed up now if you hadnât already.
âOh?â Jiminâs tone is mocking and amused. Showing how unexpected your outburst was.
âIt seems that our little maid has a spine after all?â He walks to you like a predator ready to trap his prey and it sends a chill down your spine.
Jimin was attractive.
That much was obvious. Somehow his soft features didnât translate to his personality, he didnât seem human in the way he addressed you. His tone was almost vindictive. Like he couldnât believe that someone of your stature would talk back to him. As much as it didnât make sense, you looked back at Seokjin out of instinct. As if he could save you from whatever Jimin will inflict on you. Which was ridiculous given that moments ago you were ready to strangle him.
âI-I donât appreciate being treated like a toy.â Chin up, feigning all the faux confidence you could conjure, you stand your ground.
Jiminâs cackle is like needles in your skin. It makes you hot and cold at the same time. Walking over to you, heâs merely a few inches away. Clearly trying to intimidate you as heâs done before. The scent of his cologne hits your nostrils and you have to clench your fists to stop yourself from taking a deep inhale. Perfumes were your weakness. Seeing him up close again is enough to remind you of the last time. But you were more prepared now. No way you were going to let him kiss you again.
He brings up a jewelled hand, twirling the stray strand of hair that was framing your face. âOh darlingâŠ. But you are a toy.â
His smile is so big and endearing - had you not already recognised the evil twinkle in his eyes. How dare he?! Your hands balling into fists, nostrils flaring from the sheer anger that you felt right now. This was one of those moments you would surely regret later on. Because you were about to slap the living daylights out of him.
âLet her do her actual job Jimin-ah. I believe we have things to discuss.â
Seokjinâs command is Jiminâs - and perhaps yours too - saving grace. Heâs turning on his heels swiftly walking to where his brother lounged. You have to take a deep breath, snapping yourself out of it before you say something that might get you fired for real.
âOh, y/n, bring me a glass of champagne too while youâre at it.â Jimin winks at you and you scurry out of the room without even responding.
This family was crazy.
_____________________
Champagne? Seokjin wondered what his brother had done in just a week to warrant a celebration.
âIs this another premature celebration Jimin? You know it ruins all the fun when you end up failing. For you that is. Itâs very entertaining for me.â
Jimin is flipping him the finger as he sits down, changing the channels until it lands on something he is vaguely paying attention to.
âThat was very rude you little shit. I was watching that.â
âHyung, they were playing rugrats. Youâre 27 now. Watch Naruto or something.â
âTell me why youâre here before I kick your ass.â
âWow, being around servants has turned you into a commoner too, huh?â Jimin is clicking his tongue like he's gravely disappointed. Obviously referring to you.
The mention isnât healthy for Seokjin right now. Heâs spent far too much time thinking of last week and the phone call heâd witnessed. Though the majority of that regret was not actually kissing you when he had the chance. Your lips had haunted his dreams too many times. This was an odd activity for his brain and he was now worried if you carried some sort of disease that caused all his brain waves to malfunction and make him think solely about you.
Jimin throws up his hands in defence when Seokjin remains unamused, moving a little closer to talk in a much more hushed tone.
âOkay okay. Hold off on the dick measuring. Iâm here to tell you when weâre going to put the âplanâ into motion.â
Jin arches a brow in question. So soon?
âThe family dinner is tomorrow. Most of the staff will be gone so less witnesses.â
âIs⊠the girl working the night? I donât think essential staff includes the cleaners.â
Jimin smiles wide like he always does when heâs up to something. Though to be fair, he is always up to something.
âShe isnât but leave that to me.â
âWasnât gonna help.â Seokjin shrugs, feeling slightly ticked at his brotherâs suggestion.
What was he up to now and why did Jin feel the need to protect you from Jiminâs devious plans?

Blobs and Shadows | Steve Rogers x Blind!Reader
Summary:Â It originally started out as just some fuzzy spots in your line of vision, but by the time you were 10, both of your retinas had completely detached. After multiple surgeries and piles of medical bills all before your 13th birthday, you stopped trying to fix it. You never had a friend who stuck with you the whole way, that is, until you met your best friend Clint. You were friends until he ran away to join the circus, but eventually reconnected at S.H.I.E.L.D. While Clint got married and settled his family down while also juggling this job, you simply stayed single. The fact that Steve hadnât noticed your obvious infatuation with him, or your visual impairment, confused you. But when Bucky tries to set you two up, Steve voices his concerns, not noticing you standing right behind him.
Requested by: Anonymous (I lost the original request, so this is the best I could do!)
Warnings: Swearing, Sarcasm, Angst I Guess?
Word Count: 2.3K
A/N: Sorry this took so long! I wanted to do extra research so I didnât get anything wrong, and this was also just a challenging request in general. I focused on retinal detachment, specifically my cousinâs experiences (Iâm aware every blind person is different, thatâs why I simply focused on him.) I also did change Clintâs storyline a little bit, mainly saying that he was orphaned at the end of high school instead of earlier, and I did write Comic Clint. I made him younger to fit the storyline, and I based his hearing loss on one of my good friends, so not everything will be like the comics. I really hope you enjoy this one, and another one should be out soon. Just a reminder that I will be starting school again on August 18th, so the time it takes to write a fic will extend a little more. Also sorry for the song I use in this fic, I watched Rio last night and itâs stuck in my head.
You sit quietly in your fourth period English class, waiting for the teacher to introduce herself as they all did on the first day of school. A book sits open in front of you, your fingers running over the raised dots as you wait for the teacher to start, well, teaching. You hear other students file in, and soon enough, the teacher clears her throat and begins introducing herself.
âHello, class! My name is Mrs. Luken, and welcome to 8th grade English. Now, my number one policy is that at all times, I need watching eyes and listening ears!â A look of confusion crosses your face, and you slowly raise your hand, not realizing youâre the only one doing so.
âYes, Clint?â She asks, pointing to the other person in the room with their hand up. He lets out a loud sigh before responding, his speech slightly slurred.
âIâm deaf.â Mrs. Luken lets out a small âohâ as she tries to think of a response.
âAre there any accommodations you would like me to make?â
âJust annunciate and write things down and I should be good.â
âGot it! And yes, (Y/N)?â
âIâm blind.â
âOh, dear.â
~~~
âMay I sit here?â A voice asks, one you immediately recognize from fourth and fifth period. You nod and feel the table shift as someone sits down, the sound of a lunch tray clattering against the table ringing out amongst the chaos that is 6th-period lunch.Â
âHow could you understand the teacher?â You ask, honestly curious about the exchange that happened earlier in the classroom.
âI can lip read pretty well, itâs also how I can understand you.â
âHuh. Iâm (Y/N).â
âClint.â
~~~
âTony, what is this?â You question, rolling the unusual object around in your hand.
â(Y/N), meet Athena. Couldnât come up with an acronym, so I just settled on a catchy name.â A small string of silence rings between the two of you as you continue feeling the object, now slightly recognizing it.
âIs this an upgraded guide? Does it still have F.R.I.D.A.Y in here? I like her.â
âUpgraded? Oh honey please, that doesnât even begin to describe it! And yes, F.R.I.D.A.Y is still your guide. Go ahead, put it on!â You sigh before eventually complying, placing the small little earpiece in itâs designated place. A small beep signals that itâs on and something immediately seems different.
âWhat the? Why are the blobs clearer?â Tony lets out a short laugh as you still stand there in confusion, wondering how in the hell your âvisionâ cleared up a bit and you can see the tiniest fragment of anything other than shades of gray.
âAthena is emitting a high-tech neuro frequency towards your retinas. It canât repair them yet, but it provides a little bit of aid.â
âIs this what Instagram filters look like?â
~~~
âAthena, help me out here. I need to get to the kitchen.â You whisper, stepping out of your room, completely alone with her for the first time.
âOf course!â She replies, pausing for a second before continuing. âGo ahead and take about 10 steps to your right. Youâll feel the floor tiles shift from carpet to a smoother texture. Once you do, take another right and youâll be standing in front of the elevator.â You nod to no one but yourself and follow her instructions, walking confidently to be in front of the elevator. You hear the doors slide open and you step in, the doors closing behind you before the lift begins to move on its own. â Donât worry.â Athena reassures, most likely feeling your heart rate shift. âI communicate with the buildingâs mainframe to make mobility and everyday life easier for you.âÂ
âGot it.â The elevator stops and you step out, the light from the windows brightening up your vision. Athena guides you to the counter, allowing you to grab an apple and a knife before you begin to carefully cut it. The familiar beep rings in your ear, and you listen for whatever Athena has to say.
âJames Barnes is entering the kitchen and dining area from the main elevator.â
âOkay thank you.â You whisper to her, receiving a small beep in response before you lift your head and turn it so youâre not shouting into a cabinet. âHey Buck! Want an apple?â
âUm sure? I didnât know you heard me come in.â
âTony gave me a new guide. Nameâs Athena.â
âOh cool. Also, Iâm gonna have to cancel our sparring session today. Samâs taking me and Steve to the new sushi place downtown.â Your cheeks immediately flare up at the mention of Americaâs Golden Boy, also the man youâve had an infatuation with since you got here. Bucky notices and laughs, quickly shutting up as you hit him on the arm before retorting an answer.
âAre you sure about that? Or do you just not want to get your ass kicked by a blind girl?â
âA little bit of both.â He admits, taking a slice of apple off the cutting board. You turn your head to glare at him, his body creating a large shadow in your viewpoint.
âThought you didnât want an apple.â
âI didnât. I just wanted one piece.â You roll your eyes as you finish cutting your snack, taking a bite out of the delicious fruit after setting the knife down. âAlso when are you going to tell him?â You nearly choke on your bite, calmly swallowing before turning your head to face the man, or at least you think (You really couldnât tell if you tried).
âTell who what?â
âWeâre not dumb, (Y/N). Well, Iâm not. I honestly donât know about Steve âcause he hasnât noticed your obsess-â
âItâs not really a-â
âItâs an obsession (Y/N). Donât even try to deny it.â You huff out a sigh before Bucky lets out a short gasp, immediately drawing your attention.
âWhat?â You canât see him, but you can practically sense the grin on his face.
âI have an idea.â
âIâm scared.â
âYou have reason to be,â Athena comments, making you giggle to yourself. Bucky somehow hears it, as he lets out a loud sigh before explaining his plan.
âJust wear something nice, okay. And meet me in the living room at-â He pauses, thinking of an appropriate time. â7 pm, got it?â
âSure, and whatâs your definition of nice?â
âNot a ballgown, but good enough for a date.â
âBucky no, you are not-â
âYes I am, now go get ready.â
~~~
âAthena, whoâs in the living room?â You ask, rubbing your sweaty palms on the edge of your skirt as you walk down the hallway, your feet making a small pitter-patter noise on the tile.
âJames Barnes and Steven Rogers.â You let out a small sigh before walking further down the hall, just barely entering the room when you hear the two men arguing, causing you to take a step back into the shadows.Â
âWhere are they?â You whisper, holding your arms to your body and trying to make yourself as small possible.
âStanding in the middle of the room. Mr. Barnes is facing you, and Mr. Rogers is facing away from you.â You nod and peek out from behind the wall, Athena alerting you that Bucky had noticed you, but Steve hadnât.
âI donât get why youâre getting upset Steve! You like (Y/N), donât you?!â Bucky yells, trying not to keep his eyes on you for too long as to not alert Steve of your presence.
âI do, but you know that I donât date anyone!â
âYou told me she was different!â
âShe is! And I donât know if itâs in a good way. She seems to kind of, I donât know, look past me? And she does these little things that I donât know if it was how she was raised or something, like stopping before entering a room, or staring in the completely wrong direction. I donât get it, Buck! I donât! And even if she is different, I still donât date! Sheâll be like the rest. Sheâll see me like this famous piece of muscle, not the small guy from Brooklyn. Thanks for the offer, but Iâm declining. Tell (Y/N) I said sorry.â Steve rants, walking out the other entrance to the living room as you start to step forward.
â(Y/N), I-â
âThis is why I didnât tell him.â You whisper, stopping in front of him when Athena tells you to. Bucky tries to speak again, possibly apologize, but youâve already turned around and started heading out of the room. Athena leads you to your favorite spot in the building, the balcony facing the river. You carefully climb on the railing and sit, balancing yourself as not to fall, but still feeling nearly weightless in the evening breeze.
âJames Barnes is walking onto the balcony.â You sigh before turning your head, hearing the other man gulp before eventually walking closer.
âIâm sorry you had to hear all that.â He whispers, receiving a short grunt from you. Bucky places something on the railing, the sound of crinkling paper piquing your interest. âI brought you some bread, its fresh from the oven. I know that carbs comfort you soâŠâ
âThanks Buck.â You sigh, taking a piece of bread from his hands and holding it in your own. He steps a little closer, resting his arms against the metal railing, standing next to you as the light slowly fades from the sky.Â
âIâm gonna go, I know you like being alone so-â
âThank you.â You whisper, turning your head towards the last place you heard his voice. He leaves the bread with you before heading back inside. You listen to the crickets starting to chirp, but also the sound of New York City starting to come alive.âHey Athena?â
âYes (Y/N)?â
âWhat was that song I was singing yesterday? The very offkey one?â
âYouâll have to be more specific.â You mutter a short âouchâ before racking your brain again, trying to specify what you wanted.
âFrom that movie. Rio, I think.â
âI believe the one you are looking for is âFly Loveâ by Jamie Foxx.â
âYes, can you play it on the speakers out here?â
âOf course. Anything else?â
âYou can turn off for a bit, I just want to listen to music and eat the delicious demons they call carbs.â
âUnderstood.â A small beep signals the AI turning off, leaving you to the sounds of the city before the music softly turns on. You start humming along to the melody, your feet swaying along. You begin to sing along, not noticing the sliding glass door opening quietly behind you. Since you told Athena she could turn off, youâre not aware of the blonde supersoldier stepping onto the balcony.
âUm, (Y/N)?â You screech in surprise, your hands grabbing onto the railing. Your body slightly tilts forward, causing your bread to tumble off your lap and down onto the ground below.
âMy bread.â You whine, staring at the direction you think it went. You feel Steve move up to stand beside you and you turn your head towards where you feel his presence.
âSorry about that. Listen-â
âLook at my eyes.â
âWhat?â
âLook at my eyes and tell me what you see.â You explain, turning your head fully towards him so he could see your face. He stays quiet for a few seconds before responding.
âYour eyes are glazed over?â
âAnd what does that mean?â He stays silent before gasping, realization hitting his brain like a bullet.
âYouâre blind?!â He exclaims, making you roll your eyes.
âWow! Sherlock finally solved the fucking mystery!â You speak, a horrible British accent coming out alongside the words.Â
âWait so-â
âSo I canât see the âfamous piece of muscleâ. All I see is a blob. A very handsome blob, Iâll give you that, but still a blob. I fell in love with you for your personality. I fell in love with that little guy from Brooklyn. And the reason I seem to look past you or stare in the wrong direction, is because I rely on hearing, dumbass.â
âYou heard all that?â
âMhm.â
âOh.â He pauses. You can practically hear the gears turning in his head. âWait, you love me?â
âWhat?â
âYou said you fell in love with me for my personality.â
âI didnât say-â
âYes you did! You love me!â
âNot anymore I donât.â He fakes a hurt gasp and you laugh, flipping your legs over to rest on the balcony side of the railing.
âWhat if I said your love is requited?â
âThen Iâd be so overjoyed Iâd faint.â
âOkay, so Iâm not telling you that.â You laugh again, Steve joining you this time. âDance with me.â
âWhat?â
âYou were listening to music. Dance with me.â
âI donât know how to dance. The last time I could see while dancing was square-dancing in fifth grade.â Steve lets out a short laugh at that, before carefully grabbing your hands, placing one on his shoulder, and holding the other in his.
âIâll guide you.â So the two of you sway to the music, Steve having the speaker play the song over. You rest your head on his shoulder, the whole situation quite calming. As the song ends, Steve places one of his hands on your cheek, the other going to sit behind your neck. âIs this okay with you?â He whispers, his voice severely closer than it was last time he spoke.
âYeah.â You reply, nearly feeling lightheaded from imagining whatâs to happen next. Steve presses his lips to yours, and you nearly faint right there. He smiles into the kiss, pulling away to rest his forehead against yours.Â
âI love you. A lot.â He whispers, a short chuckle following his sentence.
âI love you too, even if you are just an attractive blob.â

April 25: 2x16 The Gamesters of Triskelion
Finally watched some more Star Trek. I feel like itâs been forever...
Todayâs ep is The Gamesters of Triskelion, which is... okay. Itâs not terrible but I think its best aspects are the most familiar: the type of alien, the moral values at play; and its weakest are its most unique.
I think Spock likes it when Kirk says âmind the store.â What a folksy human thing to say!
Plus now that heâs Captain he gets to sit in the chair.
This conversation between Spock and Scotty is hilarious. âIâm assuming you mean they disappeared in an unusual way??â âUh, yeah?? Do you think Iâm dumb?â
This alien looks like Lady Gaga c. 2010
Kirk is being very Dramatic today.
Come on, Spock, gotta get your man.
You know Spock is worried when he mentions hope. That is, as McCoy says, a human emotion.
âCollars of obedience.â Kinky.
Stylish pink jail.
Iâm really feeling this Spock and Bones interaction today. Thatâs a great eyebrow lift.
If the random alien is leaving, Uhura must have been his ass down.
âNourishment interval.â We need to bring this into our modern vocabulary.
Not one, but TWO ladies in command gold today (one at Communications, and one at Spockâs station).
Wild aquatic fowl.
I feel like this episode is another example of a writer putting her alien sex fantasy on television. Like, a hardcore alien sex fantasy. The obedience collars, the training harness, the whipping, the weird flirtation between Chekov and his âtraining thrallâ--herself a very androgynous alien, just to throw some gender play in there.
Kirk turning up the charm again. I missed Charming!Kirk. I mean, picking up a silver platter to use as a mirror and saying âThatâs beautifulâ? This man has no shame.
I feel like this episode shows how Spockâs logic is actually a very effective life strategy. Heâs facing a very mysterious situation with high stakes--literally his best friend/soulmate/captain lost, plus two more crewmen--but he isnât defeatist like McCoy or defensive like Scotty. He just follows the evidence, even when the evidence seems wild. And he was right.
Detective Kirk time!
âAre they computers?â Heâs hoping so, since heâs very good at defeating computerized enemies.
Could it be instead another example of aliens who have transcended their physical bodies?
He is really laying the charm offensive on thick here.
I get how people have vague memories of TOS and remember Kirk as slutty, because certainly there are lots of shots of him kissing ladies, but like... 90% of the time he's using charm as a weapon, like he doesn't like Lady Gaga, he just wants to get off this planet.
âLove, for one thing.â Time for Kirk to be a Romantic Nerd again. He sure does love love!!
See imo just as itâs ridiculous for him to limit love to being one of the most important things on Earth, since he barely even spends any time on Earth and his general thesis is about what all intelligent creatures can care about besides their basic needs being met by âProviders,â I think itâs silly to limit love to being between men and women. And just as heâs kinda lying about the Earth thing, I think heâs lying about the heterosexual thing.
People in love âlive together, help each other, make each other happy.â I love his definitions of love!! Like with Edith, he center helping each other in the definition.
McCoy and Scotty think they can take on Spock lmao. The Captainâs life is at stake; heâs not fooling around. And heâs right too so yâall can shush!!
Honestly, that leaning down to talk quietly to them--I know itâs because he doesnât want to say the word âmutinyâ too loud where other people can hear him, but it really reads like heâs mocking them.
Shauhna is harassed at work.
Spockâs like âscrew a landing party, I will retrieve my space husband by myself... and I guess McCoy can come too.â
McCoyâs voice was the one Kirk heard but he still calls out to Spock.
Mmm, yes, disembodied alien brains.
I like the painted background behind them, too. Which is apparently stolen from Devil in the Dark. S2 needs more painted backgrounds.
âYou think YOUâRE competitive? A race that does nothing but gamble? Well youâve never met humans lol.â
Since when has Kirk ever competed for a woman? Hardly a competition when he always wins.
âFresh thrallâ something so... ugh about that phrase.
Ah, yes, an Andorian.
Iâm starting to feel like this is Spockâs Pre-Reform Vulcan Sex Fantasy.
I feel like Shauhna will eventually become the leader of the Triskellion people. My mom thinks it would be cool for Kirk to meet her again in the future. I feel like thereâs a fanfic in there somewhere...
âI didnât lie, I just...lied.â
Honestly, donât bother leaving everything to these disembodied colorful brains, just take Shauhna with you and enlist her in Starfleet. Or at least, like, high school.
...And after all that she STILL has a crush on Kirk. The man is too powerful.
What, no return to the Enterprise? No Kirk appearing shirtless on the bridge? No everyone acknowledges that Spock was right the whole time? No awkward little joking time?
I guess perhaps Kirk is embarrassed.
So overall... again, B basically.
As far as commonly used tropes in Star Trek go, this one is actually one of my favorite ones. I like it more than âgodlike man must be defeatedâ and probably even more than âcomputer runs society,â though not as much as âold Earth tech becomes sentient.â But generally speaking âaliens transcend corporeal bodies by becoming too smartâ is a good trope and I like seeing the different spins on it: the Organians, who can choose corporeal bodies if they want and are incredibly peaceful; the aliens from Return to Tomorrow, who wish they still had bodies; the aliens from The Cage/The Menagerie, who do have bodies but canât do much with them, who must rely on aliens they capture to do physical work on the planetâs surface for them; and these aliens, who are so bored they must rely on arbitrary wagers using enslaved aliens just to have something to do. Thereâs something sort of... sad but fitting about that fate. Understandable, awful, pathetic. Still, I wouldnât call this my favorite take on the trope.
But the specifics of the story, outside the âbrain-aliens trope,â I didnât like so much. The BDSM kink stuff mixed in with like actual slavery made me super uncomfortable. I know itâs based on Ancient Rome but like... even though it was a clear bread and circuses situation, that was not what I was thinking of tbqh.
This is a good episode for showcasing Star Trek Values, which overall I would say are my values. I do see how some people today would criticize them for being a little... well. How to say it. Colonizer-savior. I completely disagree that this is the reading that should be given to them and in fact I think itâs a bad faith reading but people are the way they are and certain things are in vogue sometimes and not others, so. I just mean that when Kirk says that they (the Federation, one would assume) have helped other civilizations âprogressâ or whatever word he uses, it sounds a little like they came in and made alien societies better using their own values. But I would say that what we actually see, in specific examples throughout the series, is the Federation wanting the civilizations it interacts with to be free, in fact requiring members state to be free, and that is really the one value a free society can impose on others or require of others--choosing slavery or dominion is choosing to relinquish all future choices, and thus cannot be allowed by any society that values freedom. That catch-22 that we see so much now. So, my point is, I think the values Kirk epitomizes for the show are freedom, self-determination, and a certain conception of progress, too: the ability to grow and develop, the avoidance of stagnation. And certainly this episode shows a clear case: having everything provided for you in exchange for being the professional playthings of a bunch of disembodied brains is objectively bad! Surely we can all agree on that. But this obvious example is used as an excuse for Kirk to speechify on the topic of what a utopian future will look like, what the best of humans can be, and what the rest of the universe could be like if it learns from our best traits (and not our worst). Which is overall something I find very comforting.
Iâd just been thinking, at the beginning of this episode, that I think S1 is a better Kirk season than S2. S2 has too many episodes that problematize his leadership or his heroism, or that barely even use him--even episodes like The Trouble With Tribbles that outright mischaracterize him imo. But this episode really was Classic Kirk and I appreciated that. We see him being charming, smart, selfless, strong, creative, romantic... coming in at the end to embody the utopian values of the series.
Spock was so well characterized and so smart and so heroic, too, that he kinda was the mvp for me, though... Donât take away my Kirk stan card lol. Spock was just so In Command... You can see how he could become a captain later, even if being in command never really interested him much.
I donât entirely get why Kirk bargained for the thralls to all stay and make their own government (or to be trained in self-governance by their enslavers... a whole different issue tbqh), given that itâs already been established that most/all of them have been kidnapped from other planets. Should they not be... returned?
And if most/all of them are 2nd or later generations, thatâs a whole other complex issue that could perhaps use third party mediators or something...
I also wondered about Shahna's origins. Was she the descendant of another civilization that is native to the planet, or is it just that her people were kidnapped so much earlier that she herself, personally, has never lived anywhere else?
I think it both makes more sense and is a more fitting ending if itâs the first. It makes sense to me that the first peoples enslaved by the brains were natives of the planet: more convenient that way. Also, I think we need to see more alien planets with more than one humanoid or human-intelligence level species.
And, if her people are native to the planet, having them become leaders of their own right again and not just possessions of the glowing brains is more powerful. Otherwise it's kinda sad: yes, they can form their own government here, but they've still been robbed of their real history and their real homeland, which they don't even remember.
Also as my mom pointed out, itâs not clear the brains themselves are native to the planet. They could have been invaders--the last real thing they did before they started wagering fake money--and Shauhnaâs people the natives.
I really did like Shahna a lot and I hope she becomes the leader of whatever government they set up and eventually does get to travel into space.
Imo this was one of those TOS eps where the potential back story and the hints of world building are more interesting than the actual story.
Also apparently the actor who played Galt was trying to walk in a gliding manner so it wouldnât be clear what he was hiding under those robes and... I have to say, definitely wheels.
Next up is A Piece of the Action, one of my favorites. Great plot, great fun, great sci fi concept, great Kirk material!
