Anyway, Beela's very good at blitzing, a spell that teleports. It's a big, heavy spell that most of their group can't do. In fact, it's one of two pieces of magic Beela can do. The other is making it so they can read any language. They can't speak it or write it themself, but they can read.

(Deltawings) It's Deltarune's 5th anniversary! Might as well draw my two favorite characters for this momentous occasion. Split up individual scenes as well as some AU headcannon stuff below the cut. (Also mild gore tw as Seam is shown with thier eye slashed in the fifth scene as well as with multiple cuts on their body)

I am incredibly pleased with how this entire piece came out. Took a dang long time, but it was well worth it :)

For my AU's interpretation of Seam and Jevil's story, I didn't really want to give them a romantic relationship as in the lore I have it so Seam is over 2 thousand years old, and Jevil around 50 years old max at the time he was locked up. That just would have ended up being kinda weird so I instead decided to have Jevil grow up as a dragonet with Seam as a sort of parental figure to him. That way they could still be close and have really sweet moments, but under a more familial bond context. (I also just find that sort of dynamic to be more compelling narratively anyway, so win/win in my book)

i wasn't able to get the entire story shown in this piece, but I think it gets the overall jest across. And of course my askbox is always open to questions if y'all have any.

sorry if you've answered this before, but how do you draw/proportion bodies? The way you draw poses is so nice and fluid and I'd love to see how you do it! Your art is always such an inspiration to me, thank you for posting it

Hello! So first of all, that's a huge compliment and I really really appreciate it! I don't have the words, just. Dang. I really appreciate that so so much.

As for how I draw / proportion bodies, I don't really have a fully set process or anything, because almost all of what I do has been a result of me messing around and finding out for several years. That said, I'll try to go over some of my general process here and if clarification is needed for any part of this my askbox is always open and I'm happy to try and answer.

So I generally try to start with a rough gesture-ish shape for the torso that kind of establishes where I want the torso to sit and at what angle I want the hips / shoulders to be at. It helps for a pose to look a little more natural if there's a little bit of asymmetry and if the hips and shoulders aren't exactly at the same angle. Once I have that initial shape set up, I like to add the legs on, so I can get a feel for the weight distribution.

Also notably, I have a little marker for the head on there so I know roughly where that will be placed.

Generally after this stage I'll go in and add arms, and when I do that I'll usually make clear note of the hands, then the shoulders, then connect them at the elbow. I'll also draw on the head at this point, and for that I like to mark where the collar bone would be. There's a muscle on both sides of the neck that starts at the collar bone and ends right below the ears so that's generally a good reference point. After that I'll draw on the jawline and start marking down the head shape and where the face will go.

After this point I'll start adding on stuff like face, clothes, etc. (This ended up being a Bdubs)

A few things to try and keep in mind for anatomy is rough skeletal and muscle structure. I find it helpful if I'm struggling with a pose to think about where the ribcage, pelvis, and joints would reasonably be, and usually that will help me deal with most issues I might have. Additionally, thinking about muscle structure and body fat helps better establish the external shapes of the character, so I try to think of those too while I'm drawing.

This isn't super detailed, but I also marked here where rough skeletal points are and what the angles of the hips and shoulders are.

That said, that's not the only way I think about posing when I do start on a drawing. When I'm drawing something at a more intense angle, I prefer to start with whatever part of the body is closest to the camera and work my way back. When doing a more action- oriented pose, I tend to focus more on the line of action first so that I can do more with the gesture.

If it's not completely evident from this page, though, not every pose I draw will work out. It's fairly common for me to end up with stiff poses or ones with weird, warped proportions, especially when I'm doing more action oriented or foreshortened poses. (But of course, I don't post all the stuff I make.)

I guess to give a few closing notes, I've found that taking in information about anatomy and posing from a lot of different sources has helped me improve at it. I took a life drawing class recently that taught a very traditional manner of drawing the human figure that had a lot of emphasis on accuracy, and I took an anatomy and physiology class a couple years ago, which helped me gain an understanding of the human figure on a more scientific level, which I found very helpful. That said, I've found that YouTubers like LavenderTowne have a lot of useful information on drawing stylized anatomy and fluid poses, and her Do This, Not That videos are very informative, so I recommend looking into those a little bit for more stuff.

And a few more closing notes, that I've found work well for me personally, I highly suggest sketching loosely and lightly, and being okay with not drawing perfect poses every time. I've found, for myself, that not committing to lines right away allows me more space to find that sweet spot, so to speak, where things just work. I've found myself erasing the same lines over and over again so many times. Heck I'll draw the same post multiple times to get it to look right. It might not always look right on the first try and that's absolutely fine. Quite honestly it doesn't have to look right on the first try. For every pose I draw that turns out nice I have probably an average of 15 that have been erased or scratched out. So, like... don't get too hung up on stuff being perfect. And another small bit! Exaggerate stuff! It's fun! But it also helps capture the feeling and energy in the pose more than anatomical accuracy does, and I'd argue that especially when it comes to stylized work, it's important to push stuff to be a little bit "more" than it "realistically" would be, because I've found that can also help with fluidity. Besides, if it's been pushed too much, it's a little easier to pull it back.

How do you think Cersei, yara, Sansa, Margery, Brienne and Daenerys would react to having a girlfriend who has fainting spells from a previous head injury, and who neglects to tell them until it happens?

Brienne - Brienne caught you when it happened and carried you back to your chambers, fretting the whole way. She stayed calm outwardly but was internally panicking as she called a maester. She figured you didn’t want a ton of attention drawn to you, so she wouldn’t tell any family members unless it was serious ... Then the maester explained this often happened since you had received that injury, he assumed Brienne knew.

When you woke up, she was right there with both tea and water, like the maester said. Brienne didn’t want to overwhelm you, but she was worried and a little exasperated that you didn’t tell her what happened. She’d like to know all she can, especially something this serious, so she can protect and care for you better. She somewhat understands, but she’s still worried, dang it. So she stays until you’re feeling better.

Cersei - She’d be right there when you woke up, huffing and pouting. She’d lecture you about not telling her, because she remembers the injury happening and how you brushed her off. As you look around you notice there’s food and water on your bedside, super fluffy pillows, soft sheets, familiar perfume sticking to your skin... you’re in her room. 

“I told them to bring you here, of course.” She says it like it’s obvious. “You’ll stay here until you feel rested.” Cersei ended up hovering close, made Maester Pycelle come in, snapped at him to leave once he was done and spent the rest of the day with you. She’s especially pushy when she’s worried, and you worried her. Her mind has a way of jumping to the worst conclusions. 

Yara - Some of her crew make a move to pick you up and she barks at them to fuck off and carries you herself. She’s got some sharp-smelling herbs that help you come to, and she bluntly asks if this is related to that injury you got. Yes, she remembers it. She’s annoyed that this has been happening and you didn’t tell her... “Can’t say I wouldn’t do the same, but I don’t like being surprised like that.”

She’d make a point to tell the crew you were fine and to leave you alone, Ironborn are a hard lot and she can’t have them suspecting weakness. She’d likely leave a non-Ironborn lady on the shore anyhow, keep them away from her crew even if it’s lonelier. If you are Ironborn you both understand there’s a reputation to maintain, esp for women, so you both have a system and excuses for when it happens.

Sansa - Panic! External panic! Until she collects herself, then it’s internal, and her mind is going through dozens of scenarios for what the problem is. She connects it to the injury while you’re resting. You wake up in your room, and she’s got a whole meal and water ready for you. Sansa wouldn’t call the maester until you woke up and spoke with her, she’d want to hear how you were feeling and if you wanted one in the first place. 

Once you were settled in and cozy, she’d have a serious talk about the fainting spells, since she’d come up with so many scenarios where it might be more serious - “What if you fainted on some stairs?! What if no one was around to help?!” - and you may have to reassure her because she thinks of so many things at once. She settles eventually and brainstorms what she should do the next time it happens, where she should take you, what you’d need, and so on.

Margaery - She’s normally a collected lady, but her love for you is great, so when it happens she makes an audible gasp and tries to catch you, even though strength isn’t her strong suit. She’d call Loras or Garlan to come carry you, as she’d trust them to keep quiet. The idea of secrecy occurred to Margaery instantly, something her grandmother taught her, so she would also wait until you had woken to ask if you’d like a maester. Margaery would tsk and give you a little wap on your arm when you told her the likely source of the fainting spells.

“I remember you telling me about that! You should have said this was happening...” She’s a little put out that you didn’t tell her this wasn’t the first, second or even fifth time. Margaery tells you almost everything, maybe too much, and she wants the same in return. She’ll absolutely protect you the next time it happens and like Sansa, has plenty of excuses and distractions if anyone questions it. It’s probably overkill, but she’s always hyper aware of reputation.

Daenerys - She jumps into action right away and is the sort to snap at others to handle you carefully and get this or that... then shoos all of them away so she can do it herself. Because of Drogo, she has difficulty with any future partners showing illness, and she remembers that injury you took some time ago - that was scary enough. She doesn’t connect the two right away, too distracted by trying to carefully rouse you awake. Once your eyes open and focus, she’s visibly relieved.

Afterward Dany is a little embarrassed by her strong reaction, but she was worried, damn it. When you tell her it’s been happening several times, she tries not to get angry. She’s more exasperated, wishing you had told her, but also knowing she would’ve been smothering and overly worried. You’ll have to reassure her that it’s just the fainting spells, nothing else, promise. She’ll keep a close eye on you for a few weeks, understanding you aren’t some fragile girl, but still feeling that old anxiety and pain from Drogo.

DANG @hnn-wnchstr, I'm actually sort of grateful that I had this sitting in my box so long. Because it gives me a chance to keep it 💯. Like so many people and friends, I have anxiety, and recently have been dealing with a flare-up (random panic attacks woo!) that's been one of the worst in a decade. It means less time for writing, and more time needing to dedicate to self-care and doing the things that help. It's been working, but it's also meant I've withdrawn a little bit, so I am really sorry to the friends that this has affected. I think(?) I'm coming out the other end of it, but I will be ramping back in slowly, to make sure that I don't relapse into the bad.

So... I am using this "makes me happy" to... talk about the things I am able to do that actually does help. Anxiety is not something we can just magically make go away with positive thinking and diet, but still I wanted to see if my own experience was something I could share and help someone else, at least a little bit.

Pets. When I needed to hide and breathe and remind myself that I was not dying (...just panicking...), my dog and cat would come up and snuggle me. I don't know if they knew, but my gosh there's something about pets' affection that really makes a difference.

Deep breathing. I learned this technique in my 20s. I close my eyes and just fill my lungs as much as I can and breathe out slowly. This nearly always lowers my heart rate and gets me out of the panic zone.

Warm beverage. I am one of those people that holding a warm mug of something soothes me deeply. And sipping it can usually relax me.

Exercise. Okay, so I both hate this and love this. My body hates to exercise. A lot. It revolts and makes its anti-exercise stance well-known, but just getting moving each day has been one of the most helpful things in pulling me out of the flare-up.

Weighted blanket. I was skeptical of this one, I really was. But the feeling of being compressed/embraced by it actually does have an effect and leaves me feeling a lot better.

So, there we have it. At least for me, things that have been making this particularly anxious time a little more tolerable for me. I think I am close to the other side of it, so my writing pace should pick up again, but... I won't push myself. I promise. We should always put our own oxygen mask on before helping others, after all.

Going on with this thread, which I would call “Reasons why Jeronica is just the best dang thing”:

7) They are (more) aesthetically pleasing. This is really subjective and also kinda unfair, I can for sure give you that, but just putting them close to each other makes a strong impression on screen. Their matching colors and outfits, as well as their body types give a nice harmony to the picture. The visual response is something that can’t really be controlled, since it’s encoded really deeply in the human mind - specifically in the heteronormative sexuality. Tall boy & small girl always works as a pairing because it’s what our eyes perceive as typically masculine and typically feminine. On top of that, the fact that except for height, there is not much of a difference between their body types and their colors, makes for a beautiful visual harmony. Which is the same reason why Barchie, also, looks better. I know: it sounds really crude, but I don’t make the rules. In my course of study I had the chance to study this kind of things with close attention, and I can assert that some visual instincts cannot really be controlled since they are so deeply rooted: the studios know this kind of stuff, and they usually exploit it for the pictures they produce. 

8) Outsiders. Veronica and Jughead have always been the ones looking from the outside. She is the new girl, while he is the guy from the wrong side of the tracks. Most of Jughead’s life was spent looking at this all american, dreamy like characters that are Betty and Archie. He is aware of the fact that he doesn’t belong to that pastel colored world of suburban terraced houses. His existance feels almost parasitical, from his voyeuristic point of view, given by the role of narrator that he takes upon himself. At the same time, Veronica doesn’t belong either. She comes from the big city and also from a mob family. That idealized lifestyle it’s just not fit for her. And I really like the fact that, even if Jug and V come from such a different background, they are both children of a world that is more real, more crude. They have this qualities of fighters and survivors that create another psychological affinity between them.

9) Elective Affinities. Now, this might take long, but stay with me. “Elective Affinities” is a beautiful novel by the famous german writer Goethe. I call it into consideration simply because I think that the core 4 and their spot in Riverdale somehow mirrors this tale. The plot of the book is simple: we have a couple and two guests. We have a marriage between two people who are not well mixed together. So the coming in action of the two guests breaks their relationship and creates different pairs. The philosophy of the story goes back to Empedocles, who said: "people who love each other mix like water and wine; people who hate each other segregate like water and oil.". Taking a step forward, we get to the chemical concept of elective affinity. In chemistry, this means that the bond between two elements can be broken by the intrusion of a third. In this way, one of the two jointed element “chooses” to step away from the former link and form another one with the new comer, simply because of a better affinity. I won’t get too deep into the book because it would need so much time and a lot of unnecessary work that doesn’t resonate with Riverdale. However, the concept is simple: opposites might attract, but there’s always a line. There has to be a connection between people, in order for them to function as couples. We talk about temper, about goals, about background, values and lifestyles. The characters that Archie and Betty embody clash in a harsh and jarring way with the ones embodied by Jughead and Veronica. While for Barchie and Jeronica we can talk about sides of the same coin, for B*ghead and V*rchie we are putting together cash and coins. Yeah, I guess they are still money, but that’s where the resemblance stops. 

10) What works in real life doesn’t necessarily work on the screen (and viceversa). I can’t stress this enough. Yeah, we could see B*ghead and V*rchie as healthy couples (kinda, maybe - I have my reservations about it, but ok)..that doesn’t mean that they are interesting to watch. I don’t know, watching Riverdale is starting to feel like watching a tv show about my best friend and her boyfriend: yeah, they are cute, they work perfectly together, but do I want to watch them on tv? No sir, it would be boring as hell. Peeling away the murders, the investigations and the weird Riverdale mysteries, we all know a B*ghead kind of couple in our lives. Do we know a Jeronica? No. Do we know a Romeo and a Juliet? Also no. But hey, if they are an iconic couple for centuries, maybe there’s a reason to why it is so. Movies, tv shows and books have this escapist quality, this possibility of making everything seem real even if we talk about something that would never be possible in real life. Let’s face it: we would all avoid hanging out with an angsty couple, but somehow we love to see that on tv. It’s just more passionate, more intriguing. I don’t know, everytime I see B*ghead I see me and my boyfriend eating pizza in our sweatpants on the sofa. That’s love, but it would make for a really bad tv show. We should start facing the fact that tv and cinema are not made to necessarily teach us something: we shouldn’t seek life lessons in a teen drama, or even a realistic portrait of life. It’s made for entertainment, that’s it, and entertainment means also creating drama and mixing up couples just for the hell of it.

11) This will be quick, but Jeronica has in them the potential of every classic best selling couple. I’m talking about Elizabeth and Mr Darcy in “Pride and Prejudice”, about Romeo and Juliet, Han and Leia in “Star Wars”, Jack and Rose in “Titanic”. There’s a tention in this narratives, that always works. Why? Because there’s some kind of conflict going on between two people who have a similar mindset. We are encoded to like this kind of stories and every writer knows it, that’s why they keep selling and moving people even tho they’ve seen it a hundred times. And that’s why I’m mad at Riverdale’s writers: because they know (and it shows), but they keep safe betting on an off screen couple, sacrificing the narrative purpose of their work.

Today is the ficlet fest for March, and thus: FICLET FEST IS A YEAR OLD!! If I don’t break 100k words for ficlets after today, I will be horribly surprised.  And the theme for today is:

Soul Mate AUs! ie: soul mate alternate universe - an AU that revolves around the setting of everyone having a One True Love, or Two true loves (as I will write poly ficlets!) 

What does this mean for you? I will be accepting any BNHA character that your heart desires~ Anime? Manga? I’m up to date and I cannot wait. (Except for the movie!!! I haven’t seen the most recent movie </3 ) My usual rules apply! All characters, if they aren’t already, are portrayed as 18+, and I won’t be writing for characters like the Nomu, who cannot consent. And I’m really uncomfortable with Moonfish, please don’t send him in. If you decide to send in polyships, then the characters must both be of a similar age! (ie. I won’t be writing All Might x Reader x Deku etc)

What kind of prompts, besides character-choice, am I talking? I have a list! Below you will find a list of 25 words! Choose a number or word from the list, a character (or two! 👀), and send them on in! I will be accepting them starting at 9 AM PST!! I also don’t mind mild add ons, such as fluff, lemon or angst, but I won’t guarantee those! Sometimes I read the prompt and write too gosh dang fast, but I’m not trying to purposely do so, dangit.

Because this is the last ficlet fest before I take a ficlet break, I am not staggering asks. The askbox will be open until 11 PM PST! I most definitely won’t be answering them all in one day, but for the sake of my fingers, please remember: Don’t spam! If there are repeat asks for the same character + prompt, I will delete them (as in, say two people send in ‘red string of fate’ + midoriya, I will answer one of those and delete the other. You’re still free to send in midoriya + another prompt!) I will close the askbox at 11 PM PST, and that means the ficlet fest will be over, I won’t be taking any more asks, but I will be finishing the ones I have.

If I haven’t responded, it’s likely I needed a break or food, or possibly I’m having a stuck moment! (I’ll get to it, I promise.) Request Rules!

We’re back at it again, gamers! After my extended and unannounced hiatus, I’ve decided, much to my chagrin as I had a fair chunk of requests, that I was clearing out the askbox of requests completely, and updating the request rules, and starting fresh-- you can read my whole youtuber-style apology here.

To prevent myself getting overwhelmed,I only commit to fulfilling one request weekly, and will close requests should the list get too long.

So, without further ado, here's the new request info!

Request Rules

I DO..

 - Write, and take requests for, x Reader imagines, fics, headcanons, ect.

 - Write readers of all genders and relationships of all types(WLW, MLM, ect.) 

 - Write NSFW content, if you beg me for it. ~(◠‿◕✿)

 - Lots of other things. Even drawing, sometimes, poorly.

 - Take drawing requests of canon characters.

 - Reserve the right to refuse any requests at any time.

I DON’T..

 - Take requests involving more than 3 characters! (i’m only human guys)

 - Take requests for anything Canon X Canon(sometimes, I just don’t ship it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) 

 - Take requests for anything Canon X OC(feel free to tell me all about your OCs though, i’d love to hear!)

 - Write for certain kinks that make me uncomfortable.(i haven’t had to make a list yet, and dang i hope i never have to!)

Favorite Story You Wrote: Goodness why must I pick amongst my babies??? I actually do go back and forth depending on the day, but... Unsent Correspondence still holds a very special place in my heart

Story You Were Nervous to Post: It feels like cheating to say Smoke and Sand, since it was my first fic I had written and posted in like ten years, and in a new fandom to boot. Beyond that, I think Unsent Correspondence, because I was really emotionally attached to the project, kind of went out on a limb exploring the limits of Theron’s characterization (that the game later verified with the tr8r arc), and as a whole it’s such a drastically different approach to storytelling I wasn’t sure if it was going to put people off.

How Do You Choose Your Titles: Lots of sobbing and alcohol? I obsess over titles a lot of the time as well as descriptions, because I feel like they’re kind of part of “marketing” your fic to readers? And also I really, really suck at them most of the time and spend way too long on Wikipedia or quote websites or the dang thesaurus trying to find something that will work.

Do You Outline: It depends on the type of work I’m writing. On something smaller I might just write straight out, getting the idea(s) onto paper as quick as possible. The longer and more detailed a story starts to get, the more I begin to outline. Finishing up By Guidance of the Stars, I would actually go through several draft outlines, from a summary, that’d be expanded to me basically word vomiting what I wanted to happen or just me arguing with myself on what I’d forgotten, that I would then take and actually write liner notes that was half-actual narration and dialogue, half a gist of a sentence, before I went in and filled it out with real words and grammar. I kind of seem to discover a new process every week, depending on what mode my brain is in.

Complete: Okay I’m just gonna count SWTOR stuff to make my number crunching easier... between multichaptered fic and prompts... 80 -- dear lord that’s a lot more than I realized it was.

In-Progress: I will count what’s only currently published and unfinished and that number is... ONE. The Date Night fic, which no one really realizes is unfinished because each part is self-contained. But I know it’s unfinished and that bugs the heck out of me.

Coming Soon: I had to open Scrivener for this. And for this I will count what only currently has an actual word count or outline (and is not just an idea floating in my head that I haven’t written down) so... 10. One of which is actually really close to being done, I just have to wrap it up. And I have, um, a few unfinished prompts in my askbox.*shifts guiltily* Sorry about that...

Do You Accept Prompts: I do, and apparently I really like writing them because that ridiculously high completed count? Like a good 80-85% of that number are prompts  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: Oh god, it’s not even on my numbers above because I technically haven’t even started a document or outline yet, just talked my poor friends’ ears off about it -- but it’s a canon-divergent AU I’m tentatively calling “Chance Encounters”, where Theron and Grey meet aboard the Esseles, and by random happenstance continue to bump into each other at various points in the Vanilla storyline. It’s stupidly adorable and angsty at points, but I’m going to finish these other things first.
