Sorry all, I promise I will finish the posts I'm working on. It's just that I really need to prioritize the art I'm being paid for. And when I'm taking a break from the paid art, obviously I kinda want to do literally anything that isn't more digital art. I get burnt out.

And may I also just add. If you are coming to me for general advice, that's fine. If you have an interest in my own personal designs, that's also fine. But sometimes I get asks that feel like people want my specific ideas on how to design a specific thing, and I think I'm justified in saying this:

If you want me to give you so many details on specific designs, maybe what you should actually be doing is paying me to design something for you from scratch.

I do want to help my fellow artists who admire my skills and just want some advice on things that they find difficult. But I do not want to sit here going through a pile of asks from what feels like a single anon trying to create entire designs purely based on my suggestions. That's not the purpose of this. I can give you advice to improve your own skills, but I'm not going to dictate how you should be drawing your own unique creatures and fantasy people.

Pay me to design things if that's what you really want. I don't really have the time and energy to do so much free art work.

Hi friends. I am tired.

Not really expecting anything at this point, but the bills keep coming and they don’t stop coming and paying them instead of getting food means we are running out of food. Would 10/10 be a nice time if anyone could spare $20 or $50.

I am dashing my ass off but I sacrificed $170 to getting my registration renewed on my car and have no money for groceries until til tomorrow. I am so sick of not having a way to make ends meet.

how much on average does a commission for a thumbnail make?

I've recently been offered my first thumbnail comm but it feels way too low

My base price is $60 USD per thumbnail, but that's just the base. What I actually charge depends on the client. I try to be flexible with thumbnails since it's my only commission type with recurring clients. (I'm more strict with typical illustration commissions)

If someone plans to commission me for all their videos/a whole series, I will open a discussion about the price. In some cases that means raising the price, and in others that means lowering it. As an example, Martyn and I decide the price based on series popularity. His life series thumbnails generally cost more than his other thumbnails.

Also, be sure to know your limits and when to charge a rush fee. Don't let creators stress you out with a short deadline and no extra pay to compensate.

Making a new post because my family and I are in dire need of help. My name is Link, I'm a 22 y/o artist and since November 2021, my family and I have been homeless and living in a motel. Since neither of us had our documents or IDs when we first got here, it was up to me to open commissions to support us. Although my father has his id now, getting a job out in the mountains where we don't have transportation or a way for them to contact us is very difficult. Until that changes, we're still dependant on my commissions to help us through paying for rent and soon food, as this is our last month of food stamps due to the policies here.

This week and especially this month has been super tough on us since work has gone down for me tremendously. There's been weeks were we can't pay and owe upwards of 100$+ every other day since it adds up so quickly. There are days where if we didn't have food stamps, we wouldn't have any food at all and since it's ending soon, I'm hoping this will help me find some more work to care of my family with. Right now our situation is urgent. We need 250$ to cover for tomorrow and we don't have anything as of yet. If we can't have everything paid for by tomorrow, we will be kicked out and since families on both sides have cut us off both communication and money wise, it doesn't look good if that happens.

So, all my slots are open for anyone who's interested in helping us out! I'm a primarily DnD/fantasy themed artist. I mainly draw Dragon Age centered art but I've also done work of Baldurs Gate 3 tavs and other DnD related stuff as well! I can also work outside of fantasy, I've done all things from simple portrait commissions to furries to even dragons, I'm flexible with most things. The only thing I won't do is sexual nudity since I'm not particularly educated enough to draw that sorta stuff yet. Payment will be upfront since our situation is extremely dire at the moment and in turn since we have to use the money we get immediately for rent and soon enough food, no refunds can be given back so please take that into consideration. I'm all for making changes if you aren't happy with how a piece is turning out.

Expression Sheet (minimum of 3 heads per sheet, 10$+ per extra head) - 45$ (10$+ if shaded)

Half body - 50$ (+10$ if shaded)

Full body - 70$ (+15$ if shaded)

Couples Commission (a commission that includes two people) - 90$ (+15$ if shaded)

Group commissions (commission that includes more than two people, price dependant on the details) - 60 base price(one character, unshaded; each extra character is +75% to the original price) (40$+ if shaded)

Commission Menu!

I've removed the "Pay What You Want" commission option, though you can pay more than my asking price on any of the commissions. The commission menu itself has been increased though! I had originally intended to open commissions in September, but emergencies happened, forcing me to open them early.

On the menu are:

A set of four quilted magnets or decorative pins.

A set of four coasters, with several options for more coasters as well as insulated batting to make them into hot pads/pot holders.

A single mug rug, with insulated batting as an option. For my shop, I use insulated batting for the mug rugs. For commissioned pieces, it's two layers of cotton batting or an extra $5 for insulated batting.

Due to popular demand, a single serving dining set. This is for a single placemat and matching coaster.

A four piece placemat set. If you would like me to make more placemats for a set, please contact me about this.

A single mini quilt. These range from 18x18 inches to 25x25 inches. They're excellent wall and table decorations!

A single table runner. I'm rather fond of these because of how flexible they are with regards to use. How so? Hang them on a wall, drape over the back of a couch, lay across a car seat, use it on an altar or shrine, etc.

A pine tree wallhanging. These are an excellent alternative to a Yuletide tree. They're hung on a wall and you can decorate it with your favorite pins or buttons. If you would like some decorative pins, I can make those (see the first item on this list). No trees will be cut down, cats won't be climbing up it nor break ornaments, it takes just a couple minutes to set up or take down. Storage is also very easy! Oh, and it can be made with a wide range of colors.

A rag quilt. I have different size options available! These are made using a quilt-as-you-go technique and are very quickly made. Oh, and they're EXTREMELY warm! My house gets very chilly in winter, and the rag quilt I've made for myself works like magic.

Just the quilt top. This is available in several sizes, the largest being twin. This is for just the quilt top. You will need to purchase backing, batting, and either do the quilting yourself or hire someone else. You will also receive all fabric scraps left after the sewing is done.

Please read over the details and don't be afraid to ask questions. If you're a monthly supporter, you will automatically receive a 15% discount, but you have the option to pay more than my asking price should you decide you don't want to use the discount.

At some point, I'll take a break. Financially speaking, that's not really an option unless we pay off the last vet bill and the water heater installation. If those goals are met, then yes, I'll take a long overdue and well-earned break.

Hey, so I'm gonna be trying to raise some money to try and afford a place to live on my own for the school year by doing commissions.

I just don't see a feasible way to have a job in my current area that won't put me at risk (disability and covid risk).

The lowball amount for a full school year is a fun, lovely $10,000 just for rent, but whatever amount I'm able to make will help me anyway.
