#my comfort movie is peter pan (2003)

Peter Pan (2003) is seriously my biggest comfort movie, when I was a hyperactive autistic 3 year old, it was one of the only movies that I could just sit and watch through to the end. It's just so good...
I wish more movies were like it.

Tagged by @babieswrld during the impromptu ask-fest amongst our teeny-tiny fandom:
Which supernatural power do you think you'd benefit from the most?
Tbh if I could go without sleep I'd be thrilled. Or just. Not have ADHD. Teleportation with a promise that I'd never teleport into something/somewhere dangerous/get seen would be great fun.
Favorite film from any era that you wish more people have seen?
I mean. I have forced most of my friends to watch Near Dark. Among film bros my "HOW HAVEN'T YOU SEEN THIS?" movie is Paths of Glory, my favorite Kubrick.
If you could pick one place in the ENTIRE WORLD to vacation in for two weeks where are you picking?
I MISS MY TINY FLAT IN LONDON. I want to visit, but for fear it might be too painful to leave again, I'm going with back up to Salem, but this time getting to go into Boston, and some of the maritime museums and historical shipyards on the way there or back. Would have also loved to stop at Fall River just to say I did.
Favorite song/artist at the moment?
Starbenders, I've been listening a couple years and they've finally cracked mainstream rock radio this year.
What is your dream 'job'?(aka what would you feel most passionate and happy doing in life)
Someone pay me one billion dollars to either write full time or direct for the stage full time. Please.
Which season is your favorite?
I'm a basic goth bitch and I love autumn.
Do you have a favorite comfort film/tv show?
Genuine comfort films: Silence of the Lambs, Labyrinth, Star Wars: A New Hope, Peter Pan (2003), the animated Little Mermaid, Interview with the Vampire, The Muppet Movie (the 70s one). I don't really have a comfort show? I guess Doctor Who? oh yeah, AMC's The Terror (season one) is like therapy to me.
What is your favorite era of fashion?
Late Stuart period.
(How can I not ask some Near Dark ones cmon IM ME) If you could crossover ANY other film with Near Dark, what would it be and why?
Lost Boys is really obvious, but I think it would be fun. Caleb and Mae having fun hanging out with other teenagers, Severen finding people who can (almost) match his crazy, and Diamondback torn between having a great time with them or else telling them to KNOCK IT OFF, I DON'T CARE THAT YOU CAN'T DIE, IT'S STILL GONNA HURT WHEN YOU FALL OFF THAT BRIDGE??? Homer and Jesse miserable and hating their entire lives.
I think a non-supernatural show/film would be interesting too, maybe a crime drama, some forensics team finding out that the burned bodies from a few different crime scenes were drained of blood before the fire.
Its another extremely cheap shot, but do you have any idea how hard it is to not write a fic of them going into that theatre and watching Aliens? Do you have any idea how hard that is for me? I just can't imagine they'd enjoy any part of it other than the fight sequences.
You can only pick ONE of the Hooker clan to defend you and the rest are hunting you down. Who do you pick, and do you survive the night?
My first thought was Jesse, he's the leader and could just call them off, and also implied the most experienced at actually being a vampire ("...but not everything that I know,"), but I feel like...if ALL the others were asking him to let him kill me, he'd cave. Mae pouts and Di rolls her eyes at him and I'm dead.
Meanwhile if I say Diamondback, I'm at least getting Jesse on her side within 45 seconds, and she'd just have to yell at Homer. Once the three of them have called it, I'd imagine Severen would give up, which would just leave Mae as a wildcard.
I didn't pick Mae because, yes, she succeeded in protecting Caleb from them all last time, but I feel like that was her one (1) shot and it went so badly that they wouldn't let her get away with it again.

Seven Comfort Movies
@unniebeans tagged me in this. I don't usually do these but I do love my cute little movies that silence the demons.
1. Treasure Planet
2. Lilo and Stitch
3. Coraline
4. Stuart Little
5. Turning Red
6. Peter Pan 2003
7. Msscribe: The Harry Potter Fandom's Greatest Con Artist ( I know this is NOT a movie. But it's an hour long YouTube video that I am deeply fascinated with and I have watched it like fifty times)
Tagging the followers. All of them. Every single one of them. But tumblr doesn't have an "Attention All Bitches" feature so they will not be alerted.
#made my own post for this because eventually those reblog chain posts become endless scrolling#i had to narrow it down to seven so i specifically chose the kids movies#they were crucial to the formative experience#turning red is a rare example of me imprinting on a kids movie as an adult. so yippee for turning red

Silly Game Time: Which movie(s) did you watch repeatedly as a child?
(For me, it was "The Last Unicorn" and "Bedknobs and Broomsticks".)
I was utterly obsessed with Peter Pan as a kid, and I watched the 2003 live action version so many times that I could recite the entire script from memory. My family had a little mini DVD player and I would carry it around and just have Peter Pan playing in the background of whatever I was doing. In my defense I was 8 when the movie came out, but I was still watching it regularly as a young teenager 😅
I still listen to the sound track actually. I dont know if it really is as amazing as I think it is or if I just associate that music with comfort, but I have several tracks that I play when I'm feeling overwhelmed and need to do some grounding. :)
I also found a book a few years ago called Peter Darling which is about if Peter Pan decided to go to the real world and grow up, but eventually went back to neverland and fell in love with James Hook. Peter is also a trans guy. Again, I dont know if it's actually as great as I think it is or if it just hits all my nostalgia buttons, but I enjoyed it a lot.
Yeah. My obsessive tendencies started young. I remember I would go through multiple copies of my favorite books because I would read them over and over again until the pages were literally falling out.

CE Characters Favorite Disney Movies, Part II
Pete Brenner
Peter Pan. Released on February 3, 1953. Growing up, Pete always loved Peter Pan.
Pete's Dragon. Released on November 3, 1977. This movie was one of the first movies that combined animation sequences with live action sequences. This makes sense that Pete would love a movie that has his name in it. Pete always felt that this movie was made just for him.
Mary Poppins. Released on August 27, 1964. It's one of the few movies where the movie is more well known than the book it's based on. P.L. Travers wrote the book, and had to be persuaded by Walt Disney to sell the film rights. The 2013 Disney movie Saving Mr. Banks is about this. Now, Mary Poppins is a much beloved Disney film, much like the Wizard of Oz. Dick Van Dyke, who plays Burt the Chimney Sweep, was also starring in his own sitcom, The Dick Van Dyke Show.
Pete very much loves Mary Poppins. This is his favorite comfort movie, he even watches it when he's sick. (Mine's A Christmas Story.) Now, Zoe and her sister, Mary, love it, and even sing along and dance to the songs.
Tangled. Released on November 23, 2010. This is Zoe's favorite movie. Rapunzel is Zoe's favorite story, so it makes sense that Zoe loves Tangled. When Zoe wants to watch Tangled, she'll always say "Wapunzel!" She introduced this to Mary, and Mary says "Punzel!" when Mary is old enough to talk. Zoe and Mary will watch Tangled while eating their healthy snacks that are toddler and kid friendly.
Cole Turner
The Sword in the Stone. Released on December 25, 1963. It also stars Alan Napier as the voice of Sir Pellnore. Alan Napier was also shooting the 1960's series Batman, which aired Saturday mornings on ABC. ABC is Disney owned. Cole can't understand why he's drawn to this, but he is. It's always been his favorite Disney movie, and yet he can't understand why.
The Rescuers. Released on June 22, 1977. Bob Newhart was starring in the Bob Newhart Show. I even have a Little Golden Book of this movie.
This is another one of Cole's favorite movies that he never understood why he was drawn to, but now he knows.
The Rescuers Down Under. Released on November 16, 1990. I saw this in the theatre when I was 11. The late, great John Candy does the voice of Wilber. John Candy was a Canadian comedian, who was an alum of SCTV, with Eugene Levy and Catherine O' Hara.
Cole loves the sequel because he got to be your hero. He not only changed your flat tire, you got bitten by a poisonous snake when you were on a field trip on his farm with your students. He not only used his shirt as a tourniquet to stop the venom from spreading, he picked you up, carried you bridal style to his truck, and got you to the hospital quickly. Luckily, one of the dads on the trip happened to be a paramedic, and knew exactly what to do, and knew that an ambulance couldn't wait. He refused to leave your side. Cole took care of you even well after you were given the anti-venom. Cole treated you to a date night after that.
Lucas and Dawn love The Rescuers
Ari Levinson
Aladdin. Released on November 25, 1992. This is one of my favorite Robin Williams movies.
Aladdin reminds Ari of the time he once ran a resort. He now runs an import business, and some of the imports take him back to that place. He was also a geography teacher, and he would always talk about the time he once ran a resort when the kids studied and learned about the Red Sea, and the countries that surround it.
Robin Hood. Released on November 8, 1973. Ari, Zachary and Elijah love this one. The boys can't understand how a fox is Robin Hood, but they love it. The boys are currently into animals, so they love movies that have anything to do with animals. Robin Hood is also their favorite story.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Released on June 28, 2003. Ari loves this because Pirates of the Caribbean is his favorite Disney ride, and with him running his import business and the resort he ran, this hits a soft spot with him.
Th Fox and the Hound. Released on July 10, 1981. This is another favorite with the Zachary and Elijah. Ari loves this one, too. It isn't strange for your three favorite guys to watch this movie, with a huge bowl of popcorn between the three of them, lemonades, and all of them curled up under a blanket, watching this movie. The boys even like to watch when they're sick.
Lady and the Tramp. Released on June 22, 1955. This is Lillian's favorite. It's also a favorite of the boys. You put this on when Lillian would be teething, and she'd somehow forget about her teething pains. Zachary and Elijah and Lillian all watch this on movie night.
Sleeping Beauty. Released on January 29, 1959. Ari has a soft spot for this one. This is his sister Andrea loved this one, and would often dress up as Aurora on Halloween. Lillian loves this one, too. It's another movie that you put on that helps her through teething pains. Ari and the boys get Lillian an Aurora stuffed doll for her first birthday.
Zootopia. Released on March 4, 2016. Zachary, Elijah, Lillian, Ari and you love this one. The kids love animals, and they'll always pick out this one on family movie night. It's gender neutral enough where the boys enjoy it, and Lillian enjoys it.
Frank Adler
Cars. Released on June 9, 2006. Frank is a mechanic, so this movie makes sense for him. He loves it.
Moana. Released on November 23, 2016. Mary loves this one. She's not sure why, though. Frank loves this one, too. He works with boats, and loves being near the water.
Cinderella. Released on March 4, 1950. Mary loves this because she's treated less than. She just wants to feel beautiful even if it's just for one day.

do you mind to tell me your fav book and fav film?
Another super hard question because I’m absolutely terrible at picking just one thing, but imma try.
Book: Peter Pan or The Portrait of Dorian Gray
Peter Pan has been my favorite since forever, the book is a bit darker than all of the films and I find that very appealing too. I know, “it’s a children’s book” but I still think is freaking great.
And there is just something about Dorian’s talks with Lord Henry that just embrace crude hedonism in a crazy most literal way, and the way he talks to Dorian about society, I mean this guy almost invented the corruption arc, and in love it.
Other book recs: Percy Jackson or anything from Rick Riordan, The Midnight Library, The Night Circus, The Martian, Howl’s Moving Castle, The Giver saga, The Magicians, Anne of Green Gables, The Borrowers, The Secret Garden, All the Young Dudes, Cirque du Freak, The Theory of Everything (comfort book), Freaking Romance, Operation True Love, Mystic Prince, Unholly Blood [Last four are webtoons] <- when I say I can’t pick this is literally what I mean.
Favorite Film:
This one is a lot harder because I love movies and I would consider myself a bit of a film nerd, tbh, so again, in no order in particular:
Tick, Tick… Boom! [Jonny’s lyrics just resonate], Peter Pan (2003), Hook, Howl’s Moving Castle, Peter Pan return to Neverland [Jane is me, I am Jane], Brave, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Eragon, Casper, Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire, The Portrait of Dorian Gray, Cirque du Freak, Robin Hood, Cloud Atlas, CA: Winter Soldier, Thor: Dark World [nobody likes it but Loki kills me in this one], Ex Machina and Arriety.
Side note: I feel like a great way to actually get to know me is to know my favorite tv shows of all time, so I’m also adding those:
Supernatural, Doctor Who, Moon Knight and BBC’s Sherlock
I totally failed at picking just one
#ask lilly#lilly talks#my favs#omg I’ve never gotten this kind of asks and I’m loving them#thanks for asking annon

The Silence of the Lambs (1991) - one of the first 'real' horror films I saw, and also had a feminist message (sadly hasn't aged well re: buffalo bill) that didn't feel condescending to watch

Comfort movie tag!
Rules: post 10 of your favorite comfort movies and then tag 10 people.
Thank you @sleepy-quinns <3
1. Kiki's Delivery Service - cute film about a witch losing and then finding her inspiration, makes me feel good when I'm feeling down.
2. An American Tail - one of my fave films from when I was young, with some bangin tunes. Almost always makes me cry at the end.
3. Ferngully The Last Rainforest - it hit all the right spots in my childhood with fairies and magic and forests and terrifying Tim Curry.
4. Peter Pan (2003) - amazing version of Peter Pan and I had a massive crush on Jeremy Sumpter when I watched it.
5. The Nightmare Before Christmas - another classic with bangin tunes. And it just looks amazing too.
6. How to Train Your Dragon - the Test Flight music is on my liked playlist on Spotify and it makes me cry. He's friends with a dragon, what's not to love??
7. The Mummy 1 & 2 - excellent films that are just super fun. I'm very happy Brendan Frasier is making a come back.
8. Singing in the Rain - I didnt know this was a comedy until I happened to come across it on live TV like 7 years ago??? So fucking fun.
9. Stardust - I'm a sucker for fantasy romance and I never realised until I watched this and fell in love.
10. Phantom of the Opera (2004) - just the music is amazing (again), and the costumes are fantastic and the setting is great.
Tbf anything Studio Ghibli makes me happy (Castle in the Sky is a very close tie with Kiki).
Tell me your comfort films!

what's a thing you love and don't talk too much about it as you would like?
Agsvdjnk I think I talk a lot about everything I love
Lets see, stuff I love but don't talk about every single day?
I love tigers!! They're one of my favourite animals I think they are so gorgeous. I also just love cats in general, they make me so happy.
I really really really love the late 90s Disney channel cartoon Recess. It's so well written and underrated and the characters are so much fun and well rounded. And it's sweet and down to earth and funny and AA!! I think more people should rewatch.
I have a long running special interest in Peter Pan. At least the idea of Peter Pan. There's plenty of elements of the adaptions that I am very fond of but I've spent my life on the hunt for a twist on the story that scratches my brain in a very specific way, like the 2003 version did. And one day I'll either find it or I'll make it myself.
Fairycore/fairytale/princess vibes stuff makes me very happy.
Anne With An E gave me intense brain termites it's so good!!! I've never read the original green gables books, but I'm really really attached to this show and their own take on the story. The bonds that are formed between the characters are the main draw for me, especially the friendships and found family.
I've seen Malcolm and the Middle so many times that its bascially just brain sedatives for me. I am so attached to that chaotic idiotic asshole family.
The Six of Crows duology!!!! Those books are SO good, I recommend to everybody who wants a series that will put their heart in a headlock. (There are more books in the series but personally I like to end the story with the duology. I've seen enough.)
It's not for everyone but I also love the Folk of the Air series. Just cuz I love toxic unhealthy insane dynamics, and also biblically accurate faeries.
Bojack Horseman is another comfort show, like Malcolm, except the vibe is wildly different. I love shows with an almost whiplashy balance between silliness and raw bleeding devastation.
Cardcaptor Sakura but everybody already knows that
FRUITS BASKET!!!! BRAINROT BAIT IF YOURE NOT NORMAL ABOUT CHARACTERS 🗣🗣🗣
Craig of the Creek!!!! Cutest cartoon I've ever seen, I love it so much :D!!!
There's this one show called A Man Who Defies the World of BL that I think is so so funny and I've watched it many times. It's about a guy who has discovered he's a background character in a yaoi manga universe and he's fighting for his life not to become a main character. Dodging hot men's advances left, right and center.
Lilo and Stitch is one of my favourite movies of all time!!! Especially Lilo and Nani!!!
