Starting with just the Astral Express!

Himeko

Very touchy, but in super subtle ways.

She’ll never outright make out with her s/o in public or anything like that, but her hand is always grazing over their hand, or resting on their leg.

Her and Kafka have an “enemies with benefits” relationship.

Welt keeps having to remind her that engaging with one of the most wanted people in the universe is dangerous and she shouldn’t be doing that on the reg.

Himeko only really half listens.

Welt also reminds her that Kafka is literally a mass murderer.

Himeko always brings Kafka some coffee. Kafka hates coffee, but drinks it anyway.

Sometimes she and Kafka run into each other on different missions.

It’s always overdramatic.

They continue to act like it’s their first meeting, mostly so the Astral Express Trio doesn’t get suspicious.

They do get suspicious, considering they start flirting at every given opportunity.

She never really gets angry! It takes so much to actually make her have an outburst. And when she does…

Dan Heng and March have never seen her have a genuine outburst.

Welt has.

Welt is afraid.

Welt

Thinks of literally everyone as his kids. Including Himeko.

Sometimes uses pet names for the Trio.

Calls Dan Heng pumpkin, March buttercup, and the Trailblazer either bubs or honey.

No one knows why.

He doesn’t know why.

Extremely warm. He’s easily the best hugger on the Express.

Being so wrapped up, plus the herrscher core makes him a walking oven. Similar to the Trailblazer.

His fingers are too big to text properly.

“Mr. Yang, we’re heading back to the Luofu.”

“Oaken.”

“What???”

“Ol”

“????”

“OK”

Loves when people buy him small trinkets or souvenirs.

His room is decorated with little dolls that March brings back, or different books Dan Heng brings.

With the Trailblazer on the express, he now has amassed a collection of funky keychains.

Tried to fit them all on his phone one time and the loop on his case broke.

Still misses the people from his original universe very much.

He feels a lot of nostalgia whenever he sees Seele from Jarlo VI.

Is actually the person that pushed Jarlo Seele into befriending Jarlo Bronya.

Had to keep himself away from Guinaifen because it hurt too much reminding him of Tesla.

Dan Heng

He’s pretty scared of Blade.

He’s seen glimpses of him in nightmares.

And on the wanted posters.

Yeah, not really good memories to have.

Nearly shit himself the first time they re-met on the Luofu.

Masked it with slight aggression.

Welt and Himeko both have the general knowledge that he has nightmares on a nearly nightly basis.

He doesn’t like to talk about it.

Himeko will offer him some coffee and cookies.

Welt gives him hugs. Hugs for all.

Gets sick pretty often.

Like a little Victorian child.

Temperature too hot? Sick.

Temperature too cold? Sick.

He stuck next to the Trailblazer as much as he could on Jarlo VI to even it out.

Didn’t work. He got sick again.

Absolutely ADORES hugs.

He never outright shows it, but he is like the number one hug enjoyer.

He’ll always grumble about being shown physical affection, but never once has backed away from a hug.

Welt knows this. And always hugs him.

Her and Dan Heng fight over who gets to hang out with the Trailblazer more.

(Neither of them take both for an answer.)

She usually wins.

Even though she doesn’t really ACT like it, she’s secretly super intelligent.

It all started when she realized how gloomy things on the Express got.

She started acting super cheery and cutesy and dumb to heighten the mood.

It worked! And then she found out she actually liked it.

She has an iron deficiency.

Most likely because the only meat she insists on eating are chicken tenders and chicken nuggets.

She cried one time because a restaurant was out of nuggets.

Plushie collector.

Has to get EVERY variety of plushie she can find on every planet.

She names them all, too. After the days she bought them.

Himeko sent the Trailblazer with her to try and tone it down. The Trailblazer also started collecting.

A quick ramble about Mortal Voices AUs.

(Not really an analysis, just overall thoughts really)

Mortal Voices AUs are interesting to me

Cause like it gets to explore how the voices would become more then their nature and fully become their own person

I feel like aside from Hero the other voices would have a really hard time branching out, cause they’re personifications of singular aspects. It’s in Cold’s nature to long for something he can never have. It’s in Cheated’s nature to get screwed over. It’s in Paranoid’s nature to be, well, paranoid. It’s in Oppy’s nature to look after himself first and backstab another for it. When they’re only voices, they can’t really help it. It’s in their nature to be this way and they literally don’t know how to act anyway different. They had a purpose to fulfill and without that purpose they would probably go insane(well, except for Cold cause he didn’t have one in the first place). But if they’re gonna be mortals they will be gifted with the ability to make their own choices. The ability to change.

Aaaaand there comes the Nature vs Nurture theme

How the Voices can change can make them better or so so SO much worse then where they’ve started. Smitten could learn a healthier way to express his devotion and emotions by picking up various hobbies to pour his heart into. Or he could go down an unhealthy spiral of obsession where he could harm others and even himself for the sake of love. In one world he and Cold could have start anew and come to an understanding of their perspective, and in another they would never understand each other and become worse and worse, with Cold provoking Smitten over and over again for his deep yearning for understanding and the ability to feel something and Smitten falling deeper into his spiral of “white knighting”, and in turn doing worse and worse things. In one world, Oppy is able to earn the trust of his flock mates and prove that their trust isn’t misplaced. In another, he would have backstabbed them all to get ahead. In one world, Stubborn would become the reliable protector of the group. In another, he would have left them in pursuit of a challenge and a purpose elsewhere.

The Skeptic from one world might be completely different from the Skeptic from another world. Cage Skeptic and Den Skeptic are technically two completely different Skeptics. The only difference being that the things they’ve experienced are different. So seeing how people take this concept of the Voices becoming mortals and going so many different directions for it is just. Fascinating to me.

Actually if the Voices are gonna become mortals what about the Vessels? I don’t think I’ve seen any mortal AUs that features them. It’s usually the Voices only. I’d love to read a fic where the Vessels would become more complex as they go alongside the Voices.

And then there’s the queerness of it all??? Of the voices searching for their own identity and becoming their own person??? That’s so nice honestly

Honestly Slay the Princess as a whole is just very queer.

I feel like a fool for finalizing realizing this but,

I was never quite satisfied with the explanation given in DGS 2-3 on why Barok took on the prosecution of his close friend.

I don’t think it was ever EXPLICITLY stated and the most we really got is it upheld Albert’s reputation. That Barok did it bc any other prosecutor would paint Albert as a sham right away. Which is a fate worse than death for Albert.

But that never stood right with me bc Barok values finding the truth and justice above all else. He would not do something for the sake of “prolonging” cause he knows it’s pointless. The truth MUST be found so there’s no need to tiptoe around it.

It makes no sense to do it for the sake of Albert’s reputation if finding the absolute truth inevitably leads to Albert’s reputation being ruined. The machine, experiment, and theory, it HAD to all be proven faulty if Albert was to be free. There’s no way it could not. Barok knows this.

What he did in 2-3 seemed like tiptoeing but he was working harder than ever to get to the truth.

The reason why he pushed so hard, the way he continued to give point after point, bring up every inconsistency, bring up even the smallest of possibilities that Albert was guilty, (which honestly sounds like his usual thing. But this time there’s an personal motivation to it)

was entirely so that Ryunosuke could disprove him.

We already knew that Barok trusted Ryuno to handle the defense. That Ryuno also strives for absolute truth. So he threw every little thing at him so that there would be NOTHING left that’d indicate Albert as involved in the murder.

That’s why he took the case. That’s why he was adamant on painting Albert as a murderer.

The way Barok trusted the life of his closest friend to Ryunosuke HE TRUSTED HIM THAT MUCH GOD I LOVE HIS CHARACTER GROWTH SO MUCH-

Okay but I don't think the idea of Ekko actually being in some way, on Jinx side (or the closest thing to it) when Vi and/or Caitlin come to find her is actually all that strange.

That look exchanged on the bridge say a lot more about how he has changed his thinking in regards to Jinx than a line of dialouge could I think. Being up close like that, it shook something in him and it'd be strange if I am honest if he goes back to the same feelings he had before the bridge.

That's not to say I think he'd not have still some major hesitance. For a lot of reasons. But I don't think it's to crazy to think maybe when Vi explains what Jinx could be faceing for Ekko maybe to work with them (and eventually Jinx, maybe) to avoid that.

The bigger thing I think is what is Jinx reaction to this.
