sometimes you love a character so loudly that it becomes how people find you, how people connect with you, how people know you. and then. sometimes you fall in love with a new character. and you think "but the first character is how people know me, i can't change how people know me. i can't love a new character." but i am here to tell you that connection is actually a very resilient thing and the people that care about you will happily learn you over and over and over again if you give them the chance. just do what you wanna do.

still don't know if this will actually turn into anything but. just some more corner store au musings for fun and whimsy.

lil' 19 year old gale took off to new york city because he told his dad he was gonna enlist- and decided he didn't want to do that. but was too scared to go back home and admit it so he just bolted. not like he's supposed to be calling home when he's allegedly at basic training anyways. he has a 8 week window to vanish in, it's fine.

is very *very* out of his depth having never left wyoming before. poor thing. talked to someone on facebook he didn't know that said he could sleep on their couch and it's. something but it's a real seedy situation and they guy scares him so he tries to stay out of there as much as possible. sometimes gets so freaked out he can't sleep there at all and just sleeps outside

but is a little obsessive about how people perceive him and tries to have his shit together the best he can. doesn't want help. he'll figure it out. he's always figured it out.

corner store john is fascinated by the new regular that seems to be around his age and barley speaks.

john figures out he *definitely* isn't from the city when the most he says to him to begin with is super seriously informing him of the cat wandering around. all awkward and shy kinda rambling about how she might be lost.

and is so *preciously* confused when john is like haha yeah she lives here it's alright (: we look out for her (:

immediately clams back up when john tries to start a conversation about how he's obviously not from here but. it's a baby step towards something.
