Goodness, when you said about the ai art in the marauders fandom, I was like, I literally was thinking about that !!!! And no one calls them out ??? And if they do, it's a very weird time-lapse vdo or something like that to prove they're not tracing. BUT AN ACTUAL ARTIST WOULD NEVER DO THAT??? like the struggles we go through???? Our time-lapse vdos are crazy and I would simply just take a video of me drawing (show my hand at least if Im not comfortable showing my face sjdjdjdd ) also artists know when there's ai involved you're only fooling everyone else djdjdjkd

yeaaahhhh. i just blocked this person because i was so sick of seeing their art in my tags. you can tell usually with the lineart imo — lacks weight and many tangents or useless lines. or in this case, they mostly forgo lineart…

i try and post my process and tips often and i suggest other artists do the same. i feel proud of what i have learned and my process :]

as for those who are in the fandom passing this stuff off as their own, i hope someone has the balls to call them out. and i hope all of us can use our critical eye.

another tip is: design consistency. everybody will change their designs subtly and it is def hard to draw the same characters consistently without a lot of practice. but these artists change how they draw a characters hair or features every single drawing. and that is because the ai they are using is referencing many diff artstyles, and cannot reproduce the same face, especially of characters that do not have actors attached — regulus, any of the slytherins, marlene, etc etc

and i hate this! when inconsistencies become the halmark of ai or tracing it leaves less room for us artists to experiment. i find myself nervous that my art style is not copy and paste all the time!

[Wildfrost] Review: "RNG" means "Skill Issue"

Card games are one of my favorite types of games. deckbuilding is fun, finding synergies like roguelikes or just looking for combos like a fighting game, it's like building a miniature game. Getting insane combos is fun in any game. There's a lot of room for different artstyles and mechanics in card games that can drastically changer he pacing and gameplay while still keeping the same genre. And recently I found wildfrost is one of the exemplars of what a card game should be.

It's a roguelike game, and you have a very limited deck selection. You'll only have about 10-15 chances to pick up a card all game including shops, and there's about 8 battles per run. Despite that it's still insanely deep and with enough synergies to make even standard 40 card deckbuilders weep in envy.

For starters, you can (usually) only play one card per turn, and you have a battle grid as well. So despite the action limit many things are still happening so the exemplary never feels slow. Cards attack automatically when deployed, and you have units or spells, basically. Combat normally looks like playing units and keeping them safe with spells while shutting down the enemy's threats, you can move your units around to dodge but if your leader dies it's all over.

The real fun part is charms and crowns though. Roguelike games are always famous for insane combos that are super inconsistent,t that's the high notes of that genre However, this game gives you consistency (for a price.) you can buy crowns which effectively allow you to play any card for free on turn 0. This makes each run feel standard enough, as it's not hard to force a specific interaction.

Combine that with charms which have a million different effects, ranging from +2 attack to "This card hits all enemies'.

The neat part is that everything ties into each other, in the sense of both charms and the actual cards. That charm that gives +2 attack? Can go on units, sure, but it can even go on spells. Even things that normally don't do damage. That card that had 0 attack, but applies a tiny debuff to all enemies? Guess that just got overpowered. It's all these little interactions, making any effect apply to any card in essence that maks you feel like a true gamer when making combos, And it's also why this game can afford to be so hard.

Indeed, thats the main criticism others have of this game, that it's unbalanced. Sad to say, everyone saying that is not only wrong, they're bad at the game. Because after a while playing it's VERY clear to see that the devs thought of everything. it's why some cards have pre-build effects like hitting all enemies, or consuming on use (so you can't apply consume effects to them again) or a million tiny effects like that. And when you see what the devs intended, it's crazy fun to break the game.

On the side of actual complaints though, Much like slay the spire though, you'll find that the first few difficulty modifiers make the game EASIER instead of harder (harder enemies, but more gold, for one.) Plus, in some fights, there's clearly an intended counter that if you don't have you just die, probably. Not to mention certain combos feel WAY too reliant on a single card that you only have like 6 chances to find before a boss slaughters you. Plus, the IMO most fun card in the game is only unlockable on the 3rd difficulty modifier. And lastly, for a roguelike, it felt no longer quite appealing after beating the final final boss just a few times, Though a 33 hour playtime can hardly be called a bad deal.

To summarize, it's a very good game. If you like hard games, strategy, card games, or just the general aesthetic it provides, it's worth every penny. Oh also the music is a banger, especially for the final 2 fights. Insanely fire.

I think I've just had a mini break through actualy. Since I've moved I havent seen alot of my old art, most of it was on paper or on my old laptop at my moms place and I think I've been trying to emulate or mimic the artstyles of artist I follow rather than leaning Into or using my own artstyle, and that's been making alot of problems me thinks. I look at alot of my old highschool art and I'm like "omg this fucking rules what the hell happend" then I realise oh its cuz I'm not doing my own thing anymore lol.

My artstyle is super personalised because I had to work around my impatience, adhd, and other issues like that. like my super messy lines for example? I dont have the patience to clean all of that it drive me crazy. But I think I hit an invisible brick wall when I tryed to change it or at least when I sorta lost toutch with my old artistic processes, I didnt really realise how many safety nets were in place keep me able to draw in the first place.

And to add on to that, I'm just generaly a super slow artist my pfp took me like 2 days. I usually take two days to make one complete drawing because I'm so slow I do the lines one day and the colors the next. And having a job now is definitely slowing it down more :/

I really cant deal with strict character designs in most cases. I rlly need room to fuck up anatomy and make bodies weird and scribbly and just generaly be inconsistent.

Anyways tldr. My arts weird cuz I'm mentaly I'll and I should probably keep it weird like that on purpose. Or I cant draw. Oops.

Even though it seems like Miura switches up the way characters are drawn based on perspective but also Berserk has an all in all inconsistent artstyle. Some times it looks great often it looks a little goofy especially when it comes to how Griffith looks. Griffith is in canon crazy beautiful though I think he looks pretty bad. Top 5 ugly Griffith panels? :3

Idk maybe I’m just too biased lol, but I think the art looks great the vast majority of the time (tho yeah not all that consistent), and even in the v early or v recent stuff I find that Griffith tends to look better than the rest of the cast as a general rule. Also like, I really adore the early art, even though it does often look a little “off” compared to later stuff. So it’s hard for me to look at a panel and think “ugly” even if the characters sometimes objectively look a little silly.

Like Guts looks ridiculous throughout the entire Black Swordsman arc, but man I still feel like that art is v effective and yk, just full of fun and intensity. Like sure he looks ugly compared to, say, early Conviction arc Black Swordsman Guts bc of Miura’s less refined style:

But how can you not love it?

And like, for a Griffith example, I immediately thought I’d probably add this panel to the list:

But then I went to find it and I was just like, awww he’s adorable! No wonder Guts thinks of this when he thinks about how Griffith can be childlike, he’s a cute kid here. Yeah the art is a bit silly looking lol, but I look at it and I just feel fondness.

But hey I’ll still give this a shot, far be it from me to pass up a chance to write an opinionated list lol. So in the order in which I think of them:

1.

I mean this is just because I hate Miura’s current style, I still think NGriff fares better than just about everyone else lol. But that tiny lizard mouth and the sense of utter boredom that just seeps out of the art itself and makes it lifeless counts for something.

2.

I’m counting Femto because I’m drawing blanks otherwise and while I think Miura drew his face just fine throughout this sequence lbr here the Black Swordsman era swole art doesn’t suit him. Sleek Millenium Falcon Femto is better.

3.

lol so this moment could’ve been done way better but Miura like, kind of really sucks at drawing faces in shadow, and he went way too overboard on the expression. Griffith’s other evil stare moments are great, intense and a little heightened but not too over the top, but this one is ridiculous. I like Foss’ memory of it though, so that redeems it a little.

4.

This page always bothers me bc I’m pretty sure Miura just drew the lineart here and added like a random overlay of dark splotches to give it that magical transformation feel and they ended up unfortunately placed on his face lol. This wouldn’t stand out as bad in most circumstances imo but when the whole point of the scene is that he’s preternaturally pretty this should’ve been edited or smthn.

5.

I legit can’t think of anything else lmao, every other panel that springs to mind has that whole problem with making me smile fondly and refuse to designate it ugly even if the art sucks. So this is a free space for Griffith’s character design in the anime, which is what my brain immediately leaps to when the words “ugly” and “Griffith” are put together in a sentence.
