My 2024 Art Summary!! Oughh apart from Art Fight I feel like I didn't have much time or energy for art this year...;-; But I still managed to draw at least one thing each month by practicing efficient methods! I won't give up!! 💪 Thank you to everyone who's still sticking with me!

The last third of the year actually was dedicated to another zine piece (I drew onceler for it!), but unfortunately I can't show it yet. ;P So I'll see you guys next year~!

iirc I drew this after watching the movie and something abt the sting of music right before the Spine fight scene really hit right. I also wanted to try making Sisu seem more menacing and serious because I hate Sisu's actual design. Anyways I'm not the *biggest* Raya fan but I did like it a lot more than most people evidently because pretty action scenes go brrr. I am well aware of its flaws tho

I want to take some time to share my thoughts on 2023, it's kinda personal and long so you can read it under the cut.

This year has been the hardest year of my adult life. It started with my grandma coming back from the hospital. She was in a terrible state so we had to take care of her almost 24/7. Which was colliding with my work a lot because we we're understaffed. I have very vague memory of the first 4 month of this year because to me it was: go to work, go to my parents to take care of grandma while my parents are at work, go back home, sleep, repeat. Unfortunately grandma passed away near the end of april. But that wasn't the end of my problems, now I had problems with my apartment. Some of you may know I was struggling with bedbugs, I spent over 1k PLN for professional help just for these feckers to come back because they were coming from my neighbors. Then around summer a cable in my kitchen melted and caused a power outage. I'm ending my year with a gaping hole in my bathroom wall because an upstairs neighbor flooded me and the bathroom cabinet had to be removed because it was destroyed by water. It was an awful year for me personally. I'm surprised all that stuff had almost no effect on my art. While picking stuff for this summary I had some hard time picking just one for month. I'm hoping that the next year will be better, because I can't believe it can get any worse. Thank you for following my silly little blorbos from my head, it means so much to me, you have no idea. Here's to more happy Fausts in 2024.

I have a slightly subjective question: I know that there are SO many creative, wonderful, smartly written pieces. But in your opinion, what are the top 10 (or less, OR more :-)) most gorgeously written stories? Anything where the writing made you think JESUS CHRIST and absolutely blew you away. An interview seemingly conducted Aug 3 with World Y was translated today, in it Mile says he would choose a restaurant for a date based on which one would make him seem the 'daddiest':

I LOVE Apo's glee in the background. However, this is not the first time Mile has confessed to being a sugar daddy kind of bf, see his interview from Apr 8, 2022:

Apo has also called Mile a sugar daddy on more than one occasion. Here he is posting Mile's pic on the phone on their way to an arts discussion panel on Jun 20, 2022, the caption Apo added says "Sia is busy" with Sia meaning 'sugar daddy:'

For the record, we know it's true that Apo buys stuff with Mile's credit card. But I have no doubt the opposite is true as well, and Apo finds his own ways of spoiling Mile generously.

Mile posted today (Sep 18) from a luxury shop, a BOC staff member did as well, so this is likely about work. Maybe they're filming an ad for this brand, or maybe it's being used as the set of a photoshoot...

I mentioned that yesterday, before leaving Laos, Mileapo and the BOC staff were spotted sightseeing. I shared one image here, but then Mile added another, and I just had to point something out:

It's been yet another year! Only one left before the big 1-0... Very weird to think about that. Anyways, I think this is my most varied year in terms of art summary pieces so far, which is pretty neat I think! Tells me I did a lot of different things this year, if nothing else.

This year was difficult because of health problems, tho they are somewhat under control, I still I'm struggling with making art. I go through waves of inspiration and dedication then slumps so its more like i try my best to do as much as I can when I'm able.

Always grateful I can get to show at least one piece per month, and I'm happy there are still people who enjoy my art as well. Here is for a better, healthier and safer 2024.

Oggi è un luglio del 2021 e credo che sia la prima volta che riascolto Vespertine dopo almeno quindici anni. Questo è l’album che quando ero al liceo mi ha aperto all’elettronica, alla musica intima, a tutto quello che non era metal. È grazie a Vespertine che poi ho inziato a comprare la rivista Ritual e a scoprire il gothic rock; questo album è stata la chiave di volta che ha poi sorretto tutto il muro della mia crescita sopra le colonne del metal estremo. Senza Björk non ci sarebbero stati i Massive Attack, i Radiohead, gli Oasis, i Verve, i Sigur Rós e tutto il resto… Vespertine, per uno che ha amato tantissimo Björk, forse è l’ultimo album accessibile, orecchiabile, facile nell'assimilazione. Ricordo con dispiacere l’uscita di Medulla: ricordo tantissimo il potenziale di quell’album e il concept ma che, sfortunatamente, non era riuscito a fare colpo. La Björk di quegli anni non era più “solo” e “semplicemente” una musicista ma un’artista a 360 gradi. La tragica esperienza di Dancer in the Dark è stata solo un caso isolato; in questi anni Björk si muoveva nel mondo dell’arte contemporanea, delle performance, della body e video-art (anche coadiuvata dal compagno dell’epoca Matthew Barney). Posso certamente dire che da questo momento in poi l’aspetto visuale di Björk è aumentato in maniera esponenziale ma anche inversamente proporzionale all’impatto musicale.

Vespertine è l’ultimo album “pop”; l’ultimo disco dove puoi fischiettare le canzoni una per una. "Hidden Place" è un intro struggente e drammatico, intimo e fragile che segna quasi il passaggio dall’inverno allo sbocciare della primavera; gli archi durante il ritornello sono arcobaleni che si aprono sopra i grigi ghiacci islandesi. "Cocoon" è una ballad su un registro di toni altissimi ma delicati: come se Björk cantasse una ninnananna alla rugiada sulle ragnatele, ultimi testimoni di una notte fatata che scoppietteranno a breve fra il noise-glitch gentile di questa meravigliosa composizione. Anche "It’s not up to you" è una graziosa interrogazione ai baccelli della foresta, musicata da una specie di post-drum’n’bass col contrabbasso jazz. "Undo" e "Pagan Poetry" (uno dei picchi più alti del disco) rivelano tutta la fragilità di questo bozzolo nel quale Björk si è rinchiusa cantando della sua terra. Ci sono i ricordi drammatici di "Bachelorette" e c’è questo strano sentore di catastrofe o – ad ogni modo - dell’irreversibilità della situazione. "Frosti" è una strumentale di carillon che evoca una magia notturna che prosegue naturalmente in "Aurora" e torna ad essere drammatica in mezzo agli scratch e breakbeat di "An Echo a Stain". "Sun in My Mouth" riprende il carillon ma ricorda qualcosa di Debut. Dietro al mixer e alla produzione di questo album siede Mike ‘Spike’ Stent che aveva già collaborato in Homogenic ma anche in Bedtime Stories e Music di Madonna; poi i Matmos che si porterà sul palco in almeno un paio di tour mondiali. Riascoltandolo oggi, mi rendo conto che forse le ultime 4-5 canzoni non sono così memorabili ma contengono le stesse sonorità delle precedenti mantenendo un perfetto filo-conduttore fino alla finale "Unison", un’allegra ballata che ricorda tanto i connazionali Sigur Rós. Ma la potenza, l'unicità e l'efficacia di Vespertine (ma in generale di tutti i primi album di Björk fino ad ora) è il suo utilizzo della voce come se fosse lo strumento principale; e, infine ma non per ultima cosa, utilizzare la sua voce per creare melodie principali. L’effimera natura di questo album, il suo essere freddo ma nella sua ultima fase, quella prossima al disgelo, lo rende davvero unico e speciale; Vespertine è un disco che sicuramente chiude una fase di crescita di Björk e ne apre un’altra verso la sperimentazione; purtroppo, per quello che mi riguarda, è davvero l’ultimo album magico, capace di raccontare qualcosa che a sua volta riuscirà a piantare un seme dentro l’animo.

Umm so Aaron just said he and Taylor wrote and recorded High Infidelity at the 2021 grammys when folklore won aoty….I was already pretty certain that High Infidelity was abt grammygate and the WB debacle and was sort of an apology to gaylors but now I’m like 1000% certain. Especially w Bejeweled and Anti Hero being on the same album, it makes sooo much sense

The chorus perfectly describes the climate of the fandom when all this was going down. Gaylors weren’t having it, we were extremely upset abt Taylor damaging the integrity of her art by lying abt the credits but at the time she thought it was the right thing to do. This song never felt romantic to me but more like a metaphor for betraying the trust of someone you love

“Put on your records…put on your headphones” seems like sth you’d say to fans who buy and stream your music rather than to a significant other

“Lock broken” -> a broken promise and broken trust

“Do I really have to chart the constellations in his eyes?” -> I don’t want to keep this facade going or bend the truth anymore
