Stephen King's Graveyard Shift (1990)
Blessings upon you congregants from your dear Reverend my beloved Cult of Cult! Gather round a receive today's message as hear a word from the writings of Saint Stephen! I have a bit of inside baseball to share with you today, and that is that I love the fact that Hulu curates a list from your watchlist that lets you know what films have been sitting queued up unattended. You know those movies that you kind a want to see and you keep saying "i'll get around to that" right before you binge King of the Hill for the 90th time? Well Graveyard Shift was one of those movies for me, in fact, I frequently decide what films to cover based on what is about to disappear. In many cases the films I sit through are not very engaging or surprising. I think to myself, yeah, this is about what I thought it would be, no wonder I chose not to engage. Graveyard Shift, however, was actually quite a wonderful surprise.
Sermon
Graveyard Shift begins at the overnight shift of a rat infested textile mill. The employee working the machinery has been so severely pushed to the brink by engaging with the little invaders that he begins to toy with them and sets a very tragic precedent for the film by gleefully tossing living rats into the cotton picker. We get some shots of a blood and viscera mixed into the cotton before this son of a bitch is offed by an off screen force. I'm not gonna hold out on spoilers here for you folks, the movies 30 years old and it's a giant mutant bat.
Our hero Hall, a drifter with a tragic past, blows into town and is quickly hired by Warwick, the womanizing and half insane owner of the textile mill. Warwick has an awful habit of giving easy work to the women in his mill who provide him with sexual favors, while punishing those who don't with the most filthy and strenuous work he can find. This abuse also extends to any of his male employees who he sees as competition for their attention. This is why when Hall begins a relationship with Jane, an independent type who has repeatedly told Warwick to back off, they are soon destined to land on the sub basement cleaning project that brings them into contact with our nocturnal beast.
As this plot unfolds Warwick and Hall become increasingly at odds. Hall at this point has been substantially assigned to contend with the hordes of rats in the basement, playing games and almost training them in a way to leave him be. Eventually the time comes for the much feared cleaning of the basement levels of the mill, and our three main characters as well as a slew of murder lambs descend to their doom.
These poor blue collar folk are accosted by rats, floods, collapsing architecture, the Mutant Bat Mama and Warwick himself descends into madness, killing Jane, before he himself is eventually caught in the leathery wings of the blood thirsty beast. This leaves Hall alone to fight the monster. The battle for survival between Hall and the Bat works its way back up to the Mill where Hall uses the cotton picker and ingest the creature in a bloody cottony mess the likes of which I haven't seen since a 13 year old Chainsaw tried to teach himself to shave.
The Benediction
Best Character: Who's the Boss?
Sometimes with certain characters there's a certain intangible something or other that draws a viewer to them. In the case of Warwick it must have been the pure charisma of actor Stephen Macht. He was definitely not the best actor in this film, it was very clearly a phoned in role with some questionable choices, like I don't get what that accent was about. The character was a sleazy heel and I was absolutely satisfied when he was killed. He provided a very realistic menace despite the utter cornball portrayal. This is truly what they mean when they talk about characters you love to hate. Fuck You Warwick, you magnificent bastard. I'm glad you were eaten by that giant bat.
Best Actor: Chucky's Cheesin' It!
Brad Dourif is perhaps the only actor in this movie who was memorable. It's always great to see Dourif outside of the chucky role. He's always bringing his best stuff and although I didn't mention him in this review, Dourif plays an absolutely demented Vietnam Vet/ Exterminator with his little rat catching dog Moxie in this movie. Whenever I think about Graveyard Shift I think about Warwick, Brad Dourif, and the Bat!
Best Kill: Nana nana nana nana BatMess!
Unfortunately for Graveyard Shift most of the deaths that occur are incredibly tame. It's a creature feature that mostly plays like a Who Dunnit. Its honestly the weakest feature of the film. In fact I'm going to call it right here. (Worst Feature: Genre Confusion). In a film that fundamentally does little more than 'Giant Bat Eats Mill Workers in Mild Criticism of Capitalist Exploitation', I'd like to see some people getting absolutely wrecked by this bat. That doesn't really happen. Most of the kills are off screen, or obscured by big leathery wings. The bat looks pretty damn cool, and when it is chewed up by the Cotton Picker it's about the most gore and effects you get in the film. It's a shame that it is the monsters undoing rather than the monsters doing that really shows off the effects. C'est La Vie!
Worst Kill: Rats Off to You!
In the opening scene that fucker is throwing rats into the cotton picker just for being rats. I know there's a ton of them, but it's such a mean spirited bull shit way of eliminating rats. Rat Terrorism is bullshit and I'm against it. Fuck you you weird rat killing guy, Let Brad Dourif do his thing and stop picking the rats up by their tales you asshole.
Summary
Graveyard Shift was a disappointment to Stephen King, who called it just another "quick exploitation picture" and you know what, that's all it had to be to make me happy. Graveyard shift has a cool looking bat creature, that is unfortunately underused. A quick and engaging little story that doesn't try too hard to be too deep, and I know that was probably a huge temptation with the themes of the story. The characters that are notable are over the top and interesting, and those that aren't are the perfect murder lambs, they are just unique enough to differentiate and keep the action moving. It's by far not one of the greatest films you'll ever see. It's a creature feature that doesn't do enough to feature it's creature. It's effects are good when they are shown, and I'm so happy it was made in an era where we didn't get bombarded with weightless grey blobs of CGI rats everywhere. It's exactly what the doctor ordered for a low stakes night in with some pop corn and a coke. Don't let the haters stop you, definitely give Graveyard Shift a shot.

Ten short headcanons = go!
!!!
Oh... Uh... Okay...
1. Stephen can’t rest at night without a sleep spell because, even though there are tons of spells protecting the Sanctum, Nightmare and other demons are always trying to haunt his dreams, not to mention his own inner demons.
2. Illyana is Stephen’s daughter. She won’t admit it but he’s the only one truly concerned about her since Xavier is busy with, like, all the mutants around the world, and she can’t count on Magneto all the time. Cyclops is more like an older brother and he’s also busy with Logan and Jean and the rest of the Summers so yeah. Stephen invites her for dinner sometimes so he can secretly learn more about her life and check on her.
3. Stephen and Clea used to bring casual third parties to their relationship. Satana, Daimon, Logan, Matthew, Namor... Few were the heroes who escaped their thirst.
4. Victor and Stephen go out for movies in magic disguises so they can enjoy nerd stuff without being, you know, a cloaked fancy weirdo and a fearful armored king. VIctor canonically likes Star Trek so I’m guessing they pick pop culture movies.
5. T’Challa and Norrin are Stephen’s closest friends. They have... erm... colorful benefits. Norrin shares the same sensibility about life and the value of a soul, while T’Challa shares some perspectives about politics and social matters with Stephen.
6. Bats won’t go for walks by himself. He wants Stephen to take him, despite the fact that he’s a ghost and could do it on his own. Also he loves fetching, so Stephen allows his ghostly body to be tangible again.
7. Speaking of good bois... Bats is the reason Stephen survived depression. He’s always around when Stephen is having a meltdown.
8. Stephen hates Halloween. It’s the night Dormammu tries to invade Earth every year or some evil magic shenanigans are afoot. Also kids are always trying to break into the Sanctum so he uses illusions to scare them, which, deep down, brings him a smile.
9. Few people remember to send Stephen gifts on Christmas. But Wong never failed him. Not even once. Currently, Clea keeps sending alien flowers from other dimensions, which Stephen collects with everlasting spells. Victor sends lots, I mean, LOTS of literature books and other treats. Wong keeps sending fashion and special seasonings so Stephen can learn how to cook on his own. Norrin collects stardust from all over the universe, a collection that is right next to Clea’s flowers. On the other hand, Stephen forgets it’s Christmas, yet he sends them gifts the next day. Very clumsy, last minute gifts. But everyone appreciates his effort.
10. Stephen’s weakest spot is his nape and hands. I don’t make the rules. (actually, since it’s a hc, I do, but...)
PS: the picture below doesn’t tell much, I just like this panel very much...

My TUA Multiverse Headcanon
Okay I know this is completely impossible and some utter BS but I've got this wild headcanon that all of the Hargreeves children were taken from other dimensions (aka. fictional universes), which would explain why they're the only people in their dimension with superpowers as of right now.
Also, fair warning, I've only seen the TV show and have limited to no knowledge of the TUA comic book lore, but I do hope to change that soon.
Here's what I've got so far:
Five is a relative of a superhero (or two) from DC Universe
It makes sense that he's related to Bruce Wayne, somehow. Hair as dark as his disposition and an ego beyond his years? Reminds me a lot of Damian Wayne, which could lead to the theory that he's another illegitimate part of the Wayne bloodline or a future child of one of Wayne's sons, but his mother sold him to Hargreeves before they had the chance to resolve anything. As for his powers, it's been shown in this universe that powers are either genetic or gained through an external source, and not randomly. That would mean his mother was a time/space traveler too, which would lead into the only possible woman in this universe who could possibly be the mother: Raven of the Teen Titans. Raven could be the sole hero parent of Five because all of his power clearly comes from her, but his appearance is just too close to that of a Bat-child to pass over.
Klaus and Allison (and every kid?) have the Shining from the Stephen King universe
The Shining is a widely ambiguous power seen in various Stephen King movies and novels, such as The Shining (duh) and its more recent sequel Doctor Sleep. Klaus has all the typical symptoms of this ability, and most intensely his communication with the dead, which is the main power of those who Shine. However, it was revealed in Doctor Sleep that it can take other forms, such as mind control and telekinesis, hence my theory that Allison's "rumors" are her manifestation of the Shining.
However, these are the only powers gained through the Shining that we've been SHOWN. And, in Doctor Sleep, Dan Torrance says that the Shining manifests itself differently for everybody and in varying degrees of power ranging from the mundane (always acing tests you didn't study for) to the extreme (communication with the dead). So, in theory, all of the Hargreeves children could have differing and powerful iterations of the Shining, which would also explain why the 400-something other kids who didn't get adopted by Hargreeves aren't making national news: they DO have the Shining, just not as strong as The Seven, or not as focused upon so their powers didn't develop in the same way.
Luther is Booster Gold's son from DC Universe
I mean, blonde hair and super strength? Classic superhero stereotype. That's Booster Gold, and that's Luther. Luther could've had a normal mother, which would explain him only having a limited amount of Carter's abilities, or even just his enhanced strength. I think this one kind of speaks for itself.
Diego is the son of Bullseye from Marvel Comics
Okay, here's the qualms I have with Marvel: the aquisition process of powers in this universe is fuckin whack. Sometimes it's genetic, sometimes it's an external source, sometimes it's completely random with no given explanation, and it varies from character to character. Given that Bullseye has no children and barely an origin story, I have absolutely no clue how he got his abilities, but then again, neither does Diego, so I'm gonna pull the benefit of the doubt on this one and call it a genetically passed ability and Diego got his skill with projectiles from his dad.
Ben and Vanya are mutants from Marvel
I know this is kind of a "lazy" analysis of their characters, but their powers are genuinely unique in the sense that I could really find no other straightforward way that their powers could have manifested.

For the week of 29 April 2019
Quick Bits:
Angel #0 spins out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer #4 (the ending events of which are presented again at the beginning here), giving us a flashback of Angel in Los Angeles and a case involving a werewolf. The tone here from Bryan Edward Hill, Gleb Melnikov, Gabriel Cassata, and Ed Dukeshire is bleaker than the Buffy series, but it’s fitting.
| Published by BOOM! Studios
Barbarella/Dejah Thoris #3 is a whole lot of flirting. Gorgeous artwork from Germán García and Addison Duke with some impressive lettering from Crank!
| Published by Dynamite
Batman #70 wakes up from its “Knightmares” for the first part of “The Fall and the Fallen” by Tom King, Mikel Janín, Jorge Fornés, Jordie Bellaire, and Clayton Cowles. It throws down a gauntlet of Bats’ rogues as he fights to escape Arkham Asylum.
| Published by DC Comics
Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III #1 is the first of these series that I’ve picked up, so I didn’t initially clue in that this wasn’t necessarily how this crossover had played out previously, but this first issue features a world of the two properties mashed-up in a combined reality. It’s an interesting start from James Tynion IV, Freddie E. Williams II, Kevin Eastman, Jeremy Colwell, and Tom Napolitano with some gorgeous artwork.
| Published by DC Comics & IDW
Black Hammer ‘45 #3 features a guest-spot for a young Abraham Slam, who seems to rub the Black Hammer Squadron the wrong way through trying to follow through with ideals and principles. It’s an interesting underlining of whatever potentially grey area operation the squad is on, as Jeff Lemire, Ray Fawkes, Matt Kindt, Sharlene Kindt, and Marie Enger continue to let that plot point simmer.
| Published by Dark Horse
Champions #5 is a tie-in to War of the Realms and also serves as a bit of glue to hold together different parts of the event, building upon things across different areas of the Marvel universe. It also gives us a very heartfelt reunion of Ms. Marvel and Cyclops, wonderfully told by Jim Zub, Juanan Ramírez, Marcio Menyz, and Clayton Cowles.
| Published by Marvel
DC’s Year of the Villain Special #1 gives a trio of teasers, two largely for the two sides of the Justice League/Legion of Doom stuff that has been going on, providing a backbone for the Year of the Villain event, and the third for Brian Michael Bendis’ brainchild of Event Leviathan, which unfortunately feels kind of out of place with the rest of it. As though the two separate stories are competing for resources, rather than being part of a cohesive whole. That said, all of the teasers do their job fairly well, piquing interest in what’s to come.
| Published by DC Comics
DCeased #1 is basically DC’s answer to Marvel Zombies by way of Stephen King’s Cell, but it’s damn entertaining work from Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine, James Harren, Stefano Gaudiano, Rain Beredo, and Saida Temofonte. The set-up for the series with Darkseid meddling with the Anti-Life Equation and winding up with something worse is perfect.
| Published by DC Comics
Deathstroke #43 is kind of the conclusion to “The Terminus Agenda”, on paper at least. There’s still an epilogue over in the next issue of Teen Titans and the final page of this one sets up something huge going forward.
| Published by DC Comics
Descendent #1 begins another new conspiracy thriller, building off a child abduction and a “truther”, from Stephanie Phillips, Evgeniy Bornyakov, Lauren Affe, and Troy Peteri. It’s a bit of a slow build, working to develop the characters nicely, but there’s an intriguing mystery here.
| Published by AfterShock
Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor #7 continues the hunt for the Stilean Flesh Eaters as the Doctor and the team cross paths with some familiar faces. Gorgeous layouts and art here from Roberta Ingranata, Enrica Eren Angiolini, and Viviana Spinelli.
| Published by Titan
Eclipse #15 reaches a boiling point in this penultimate issue. Zack Kaplan, Giovanni Timpano, Flavio Dispenza, and Troy Peteri have at least partially turned this arc upside down, causing us to have some serious questions about the morality of either side in the conflict. It adds a great depth to the characters’ actions and makes me unsure as to what exactly I’d like to see in the finale.
| Published by Image / Top Cow
Elephantmen 2261: The Pentalion Job #1 begins a new digital original mini-series from Richard Starkings and Axel Medellin. Burba sees himself released from prison early, only to be set up to do a new enormous heist. Starkings builds this one greatly out of what’s come before in the series and the art from Medellin is gorgeous.
| Published by Comicraft
Fallen World #1 is a very welcome return to the future of the Valiant universe, spinning out of the changes made to the world in 4001 AD and War Mother, with Dan Abnett, Adam Pollina, Ulises Arreola, and Jeff Powell weaving gold out of the fallen threads of the fallen New Japan. You needn’t have read anything prior to this, Abnett does a wonderful job filling in necessary details of the world and the characters. The art from Pollina is probably the best I have ever seen from him, there’s detail, grace, and expressiveness that has leapt so far beyond even the beautiful work he’s done before. He and Arreola make this a damn impressive book to look at. Highly recommended.
| Published by Valiant
Giant Days #50 features a cricket match, including an explanation of the game that makes more sense than I’ve ever seen it explained before. John Allison, Max Sarin, Whitney Cogar, and Jim Campbell deliver another hilarious issue, with one hell of a final page.
| Published by Boom Entertainment / BOOM! Box
The Girl in the Bay #4 is the end to this mini from JM DeMatteis, Corin Howell, James Devlin, and Clem Robins. It answers what happened in order to create two Kathy Santoris, and her murderer’s deal, but it maintains the weirdness set from the beginning.
| Published by Dark Horse / Berger Books
Gogor #1 is an entertaining start to this fantasy series from Ken Garing. The set up for the Domus taking over is interesting, as is the introduction of the seemingly Hulk-like saviour in the titular character. Gorgeous artwork throughout.
| Published by Image
Green Lantern #7 is a standout issue in an already astounding run, as Hal Jordan and a friend he finds in Pengowirr try to escape from Hal’s dying power ring. Great twists and turns throughout from Grant Morrison, Liam Sharp, and Tom Orzechowski. The layouts for many of the pages, playing with the shape of the Green Lantern symbol are very impressive.
| Published by DC Comics
Harley Quinn #61 is the first of this series I’ve picked up, due to Otto Schmidt taking over regular art duties, and I quite like this. This is the first part of “Role Players” from Sam Humphries, Schmidt, and Dave Sharpe, porting Quinn off to an alternate realm steeped in Dungeons & Dragons fantasy tropes. It’s pretty entertaining, with great art from Schmidt.
| Published by DC Comics
Hashtag: Danger #1 is another entertaining addition to the second wave of Ahoy’s comics, with Tom Peyer and Chris Giarrusso’s humorous take on the Challengers of the Unknown formula graduated from back-up to series. It’s rounded out with the usual back-up strip, text piece, and prose.
| Published by Ahoy
Justice League #23 has one hell of a gut punch for an ending (granted, it’s a little undercut by the DC’s Year of the Villain Special, but how could we expect something like that to remain anyway?). Absolutely stunning artwork from Jorge Jimenez and Alejandro Sánchez who only seem to outdo themselves with each subsequent issue.
| Published by DC Comics
Marvel Team-Up #2 continues the team-up between Ms. Marvel and Spider-Man in this Freaky Friday take from Eve L. Ewing, Joey Vasquez, Felipe Sobreiro, and Clayton Cowles. Interesting exploration of Peter and Kamala as they navigate aspects of each other’s lives.
| Published by Marvel
Meet the Skrulls #4 unveils what was a the heart of Project Blossom as fractures continue to develop between the Warner family. Great twists and turns from Robbie Thompson, Niko Henrichon, Laurent Grossat, and Travis Lanham as the series winds up for its conclusion.
| Published by Marvel
Nobody is in Control #1 features some very dense storytelling from Patrick Kindlon, Paul Tucker, and Wallace Ryan in this debut issue that goes down a rabbit hole of conspiracy theories and seemingly random information. It reminds me a bit of the structure of Steve Seagle and Kelley Jones’ Crusades from Vertigo ages ago, but with a more likeable protagonist and a decidedly different narrative.
| Published by Black Mask
The Punisher #11 is the explosive conclusion to “War in Bagalia” from Matthew Rosenberg, Szymon Kudranski, Antonio Fabela, and Cory Petit. When I say “conclusion”, though, I only mean it’s the end of the arc, it doesn’t really conclude anything with Jigsaw or Zemo. Great art from Kudranski and Fabela.
| Published by Marvel
Red Sonja #4 delves a bit more into Sonja’s past and training, seeding something interesting, while the first assault after being resupplied takes place. Mark Russell, Mirko Colak, Bob Q, Dearbhla Kelly, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou are continuing to tell an engrossing, thought-provoking story with this series.
| Published by Dynamite
Savage Avengers #1 is a good debut from Gerry Duggan, Mike Deodato Jr., Frank Martin, and Travis Lanham. It spins out of Avengers: No Road Home, but only inasmuch as depositing Conan in the Savage Land. We’re getting a bit of a gathering of the team here as an ancient cult tries to summon a bloodthirsty deity from a planet past Pluto.
| Published by Marvel
The Six Million Dollar Man #3 is another hilarious issue from Christopher Hastings, David Hahn, Roshan Kurichiyanil, and Ariana Maher. The comedy of errors increases as Steve tries to recharge himself through acting as a lightning rod. Just wonderful stuff.
| Published by Dynamite
Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider #8 sees Seanan McGuire continue to absolutely nail the character development and interpersonal interactions between the characters in a compelling and intriguing way that hooks you well on their drama, even amidst all of the action, mystery, and excitement. Also, the art from Takeshi Miyazawa and Ian Herring remains incredible.
| Published by Marvel
Star Wars: Age of Rebellion - Han Solo #1 gives us a sweet smuggling run set between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back as Han and Chewie are still carving out what their place happens to be in this world, from Greg Pak, Chris Sprouse, Karl Story, Tamra Bonvillain, and Travis Lanham.
| Published by Marvel
Transformers #4 maintains the slowburn for this story arc, delivering a bit more information, a Cyclonus that might be insane, and Brainstorm’s funeral. Also, I’d swear that the story is hinting that the newly forged Transformer is the murderer, but that may just be me putting together dots that don’t actually align. It’s really nice to see art here from Sara Pitre-Durocher and Andrew Griffith as they join Angel Hernandez this issue.
| Published by IDW
Volition #5 throws a boatload of betrayals and twists at us as Amber and Hale continue to try to track down their creator...and her dog. Ryan Parrott, Marco Itri, Leonardo Paciarotti, and Marshall Dillon are very nicely raising the tension levels in this issue.
| Published by AfterShock
The War of the Realms #3 sees Jason Aaron, Russell Dauterman, Matthew Wilson, and Joe Sabino continue to juggle the massive amount of characters and threads going into this event (even if some of the tie-in mini-series don’t seem to line up with the main event book itself). Gorgeous art from Dauterman and Wilson.
| Published by Marvel
The War of the Realms: Strikeforce - The Dark Elf Realm #1 is a one shot from Bryan Hill, Leinil Francis Yu, Gerry Alanguilan, Matt Hollingsworth, and Joe Sabino further exploring the team of Freyja, the Punisher, She-Hulk, Blade, and Ghost Rider before they ride off to Svartalfheim in War of the Realms #3. Some interesting character explorations and the nightmare of thousands of fluffy kittens.
| Published by Marvel
Young Justice #5 is huge, potentially exponentially huge, as it seems to pull at the fraying threads of the New 52 and Rebirth to hearken back to the pre-Flashpoint DCU. Brian Michael Bendis, John Timms, Kris Anka, Doc Shaner, Gabe Eltaeb, and Wes Abbott may be playing with fire but it’s a very welcome warmth. Bring marshmallows.
| Published by DC Comics / Wonder Comics

Superhero Spotlight: MCU Post Phase 3
With all this talk about ideas and hopes for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers 4 wraps up the first 11 years of said universe, I am slightly concerned as to whether or not anyone has actually sat down with Kevin Feige and said “Seriously, what are we doing after 2019?” because so far the talk is about how Avengers 4 is going to be the last hurrah for our original Avengers from Phase 1, with a possible exception, and also the arrival of the X-Men and Fantastic 4 now Disney has bought Fox.
So I thought i would offer some realistic suggestions for where the MCU can go post Phase 3 and where I think it should go both to keep the universe fresh after it potentially rotates the Avengers team roster and also now Feige has double if not triple the toys.
What’s Coming:
So what we know as confirmed movies for the MCU going forward is that hotly anticipated Captain Marvel movie, Avengers 4 which will end Phase 3 and potentially an era of the MCU and the start of Phase 4 which will be Spider-Man: Far From Home all scheduled for release in 2019.
I have to say just that year of movies itself makes me excited both as a Marvel fan and movie goer because people are buzzing over finally seeing Carol Danvers join the MCU, obviously everyone wants to know the final fates of most of the MCU characters post-Infinity War which includes Peter Parker and also his sequel will introduce Jake Gyllenhall as Mysterio.
However, after 2019, due to problems that have faced Disney this summer with firing James Gunn, no confirmed dates are on the cards post-2019. Guardians 3 is still on the table but its release date has been pushed back. This means that, unless Feige pulls an ace out of his sleeve rather quickly with either a surprise announcement or a distraction, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will not have any slots in 2020 which will be a huge loss for Disney considering they’ve striven to have up to 3 Marvel movies a year for years, that’s been their formula for practically the 10 years.
What’s Most Likely:
Now as fans of the MCU have come to realise, Kevin Feige likes to keep things simple...even if it means not faithful to the source material. This hit home for me with Ultron and how he was created by Tony Stark rather than Hank Pym. Simple because they already had Tony Stark established, not faithful because Ultron is possibly one of Hank Pym’s greatest storylines and they gave it to RDJ.
The other thing to consider when understanding Feige’s mindset at the moment, is that he is in the centre of a major s&*tstorm right now. Not only with the fact he has had to put Guardians of the Galaxy 3 on hold until he can find a new director due to this past summer of trouble with James Gunn, but also with the fact one or two vocal members of the Guardians cast, Bautista especially, are being brutally honest about not trusting Feige or Disney anymore. So Feige I imagine will strive to keep his creative decisions as simple as possible while also pulling some major damage control to try and keep both actors and fans happy.
I did an entire post on how I think he could fix his Guardians problem with introducing the Asgardians of the Galaxy, however if he doesn’t choose to go down that route and they do bring out Guardians 3 as scheduled, then I have a way to create a positive media buzz around the film.
A b-storyline in Guardians 3 could be rebuilding the Nova Corps, which was destroyed along with Xandar in Avengers: Infinity War by Thanos in order to acquire the Power Stone. So to recreate the Corps, how about bringing in the original Nova - Richard Rider Now just listen to this set up: “When the last surviving member of the planet Xandar's elite Nova Corps, Rhomann Dey, is dying, he selects New York high school student Richard Rider to replace him.” Firstly, Rhomann Dey has already been introduced in the first Guardians of the Galaxy portrayed by John C. Reilly, he only needs to appear as a cameo or flashback on how Nova was chosen. Not forgetting Thanos, off-screen, ravaged Xandar to acquire the Power Stone leaving the fates of the Nova Corps unknown, so what a perfect set-up for Guardians 3 or even Avengers 4 to introduce a young Richard Rider. If they wanted to retcon him slightly he could even go to the same high school as Peter Parker. But to be contemporaries with the other Guardians I think Feige will be best to cast in a similar age to Pratt and maybe show his origin in a Nova movie.
Bringing in the Mutants:
Another suggestion and possibly a more realistic option for Feige is to introduce the X-Men. They have of course been hotly anticipated to join the big leagues for years, and now they are owned by the Mouse House it’s just a question of when and how they’ll debut.
I have doe a Fan-Casting Frenzy post where I make suggestions for the MCU’s version of the Brotherhood of Mutants because a YouTube channel I watch has already appropriately cast the MCU’s X-Men team. But while I think an X-Men team movie potentially with the Brotherhood as the villains is inevitable, I do believe introducing individual X-Men members first to tease the movie is the way to go. Not only will it save us as fans having to meet an entire team of characters at once but, as Feige is known for, it’s a great way for fans to have their favourites going in.
I personally feel, like most, that Storm should definitely appear in a Black Panther sequel. It’s just too perfect to not happen! Not only is Ororo Munroe the wife of King T’Challa in the comics but also it would create hopefully an interesting love-triangle between the already established T’Challa and Nakia. Lupita N’yongo is someone everyone wanted to see play Storm and I still feel she would have been perfect for the role, but now she’s settled for the girl that needs a copy of He’s Just Not That Into You when Storm flies onto the scene, also yes make the Weather Witch fly for goodness sake! Two simple character traits; she has to fly and actually be African, and Ryan Coogler did a spectacular job honoring African culture with the first Black Panther movie, so surely he is the right person to bring Storm into the MCU.
Another place to introduce more X-Men members is in that hopeful Doctor Strange sequel. Both T’Challa and Stephen Strange are hot commodities for the MCU currently not only being part of the new wave of heroes to take centre stage after Phase 3, but also starring in solo movies that were highly successful with both critics and fans. Also with a Doctor Strange sequel, the two most logical ways to go with the story are either a House of M retelling which would see Scarlet Witch appear in the sequel, but the other way is Doctor Strange: Illuminati which could see him become one of the founding members of the secret government that works behind the scenes. The team also includes Iron Man as well as Professor X, Mister Fantastic and Namor. The latter three of which are now owned by Disney from Fox.
I am not saying a Doctor Strange sequel is the best place to introduce three characters, but if they don’t focus on them in terms of major character development and simply focus on the fact they are in the MCU and will be developed in future movies it could be a great introduction.
Fantastic Four:
Speaking of Mister Fantastic, introducing Marvel’s First Family would be a logical suggestion for the MCU due to the fact Disney has found storming success with Pixar’s Incredibles franchise. Yes they have co-morbidity in their powers but the Fantastic 4 did come first.
There however lies the problem Feige may face, being compared to the Incredibles. Yes there is a different family dynamic with the Richards-Storm-Grimm set-up to the Parrs, but there is no reason to say that a CGI and live-action version cannot co-exist. If anything I think the Fantastic 4 can learn from the Incredibles particularly with what to do with Mister Fantastic. The trick is not falling into the same trap as what has come before in attempts.
A-Force:
An idea that has been batted around a lot recently is an all female Avengers movie, logically speaking this would mean A-Force. While every female hero in Marvel seems to have been a part of the team in the comics. It makes sense in the MCU to have a team comprised of the already established female heroes, along with Captain Marvel who could easily lead the team. We’re talking Scarlet Witch, Black Widow, The Wasp, Nebula, Captain Marvel, potentially Gamora and maybe Okoye & Valkyrie. That’s eight female members already established. With the potential additions of Storm, Jean Grey and Rogue from the X-Men and even Sue Storm from the Fantastic Four and you have a full roster. I do not think Jessica Jones, Elektra and Quake will be elevated from their TV serials but to be fair I think those 12 are more than enough.
Young Avengers:
One suggestion I will always favour is the teenage “sidekicks” to the Avengers. This team would either make a great movie or Netflix series and definitely show up DC’s upcoming Titans series.
As a purist obviously I want to keep to the founding members, as such the team should be comprised of Nate Richards aka Iron Lad, Eli Bradley aka Patriot, Billy Kaplan & Teddy Altman aka Wiccan and Hulkling, Kate Bishop aka Hawkeye, Cassie Lang aka Stature, Vision 2.0. and Tommy Shepherd aka Speed. That is the main line-up of the original team.
Now I would say to stick with the original team because the current team does not have Cassie Lang and so far she is the only member established in the MCU. However, the later incarnation of the team is more racially diverse so maybe they can be brought in at a later date.
Wiccan and Speed are the twin sons created by Scarlet Witch, Hulkling is the son of Mar-Vell and a Skrull princess both of whom will most likely appear in the upcoming Captain Marvel. Others can easily be introduced either in a film or TV series.
But when thinking about the storylines; you have Wiccan and Hulking who would be the first openly LGBT characters the MCU has but also teenage gay characters hopefully in a realistic portrayal of a homosexual relationship, Patriot does kind of represent teenage substance abuse, there’s the family dramas with both Wiccan & Speed but also Stature and how Scott Lang feels about his daughter being a superhero not to mention Hulkling discovering his true heritage and maybe contributing to the Kree-Skull war that could be shown starting in Captain Marvel. Not to mention the first Young Avengers story which sees them face off against Kang the Conqueror who in the comics is most likely a descendant of Reed Richards. Numerous possibilities.
Nuhumans:
My final suggestion is a way to firmly solidify the connection between the Movies and TV Shows by introducing the newest generation of Inhumans, known as Nuhumans, in a movie and then giving them their own TV series possibly on Netflix or on Disney’s new streaming service.
Firstly the Nuhumans are mostly credited for introducing the new Ms. Marvel, who not only has gone on to join the Avengers but also could very easily become the new heart of the MCU.
Now the team could easily be led by Daisy Johnson aka Quake and would be a way to keep Chloe Bennett around or get her away from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as I do not see much more longevity in that series. But because she is a TV actress primarily, it could work for her to appear in one movie and then go back to television just with a bigger budget for her Quake powers and costuming.
The movie could introduce Ms. Marvel, Inferno, Moon Girl, Blizzard and Ana Kravinoff to the movies. In essence they are all teenagers and yes I do have a preference for bringing in a younger generation of heroes to the MCU post Phase 3 but I do think this opening line-up could not only form a good team but also a solid fanbase.
Some die-hard comic book fans may notice that Blizzard has already been introduced in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. portrayed by Dylan Minnette...well yes he has but has since gone on to form his own fan-base in both 13 Reasons Why and 2015′s Goosebumps as well as being in an Indie Rock band. Blizzard aka Donnie Gill was treated more as a mutate than an Inhuman but after his final fate in the TV series saw him frozen in the water leaving his ultimate fate unknown and these Nuhumans emerged from a water contaminate outbreak, it makes sense that Quake, who has a history with Donnie, either finds him or he finds her and becomes the troubled student of the team maybe along with Ana who is Kraven the Hunter’s daughter.
All the characters suggested would be great to see portrayed but my hotly anticipated pick is Moon Girl for the pure and simple reason that I feel she’d be a great start for an up and coming child actress considering in the comics she is supposed to be 9 years old. She should also be accompanied by her dino sidekick Devil Dinosaur.
It could also be a wonderfully diverse cast of characters if cast regionally appropriate; we already have Quake portrayed by Chloe Bennet both of whom are of Chinese descent. Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel is Pakistani American so finding a teenager or young adult actress of that heritage would be brilliant, Ana Kravinoff, like her father Kraven, is Russian, Moon Girl is African-American and Inferno is Latino-American.
In case anyone is wondering why I’m not trying to introduce the Inhuman Royal Family into the movies, Marvel already tried that and the result was a rather horrendous TV series whose cancellation was dragged out unintentionally. Yes Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. introduced Inhumans into the MCU in their Season 2, but to get the real experience of Inhuman powers you need a higher budget that a movie or maybe this new streaming service can provide.
I am not saying the Royals can’t be in this film/series, in fact if they want to either retcon or recast the series I would be happy with that. I would love to see Medusa done right and who doesn’t love Lockjaw? But in terms of where the MCU is going I feel a younger more current generation is the key.
So those are my suggestions for where the MCU should be headed post Phase 3, what do you guys think? Are you wanting to see the Inhumans done right? Do you think Chloe Bennet should make the jump from TV to film? Is a younger generation of heroes the way to go? Are the former Fox-owned properties the MCU’s best hope? How would you feel if Guardians of the Galaxy 3 did not focus on the current team we have?

The 100 Ask
Tagged by @griffinnblake ! Thanks, Lindsay! Honestly, what a blast this was.
rules: answer as many as you want if tagged and then tag three more people OR just reblog it and treat it as a regular ask meme!! have fun xoxo
1. What would you get arrested for on the Ark? Probably for punching a guard or something, tbh. Maybe starting underground resistance (yikes)
2. Would you take off your wristband when you landed on the ground? Maybe.
3. What would the necklace Finn would make for you look like? (Clarke: deer/Raven: a raven duh..) Probably a fist or some sort of cool resist sign.
4. If you could resurrect any MINOR character who would it be? WELLS JAHA DESERVED BETTER. (close second would be Anya) (close third would be Ilian)
5. Create a squad of 5 characters to go on missions with. Who are they? Bellamy, Clarke, Raven, Monty, Miller.
6. Minty or Briller? Mintyyyyyy all da way. Briller just never did anything for me.
7. What would your name be in Trigedasleng? (example: Octavia=Okteivia…just make it up!) Jessei, Jessai, i have no idea.
8. Thoughts on Finn? I’ll be honest, I was blind when I first started watching and thought Finn was a good guy...until Raven showed up and was like WTF ....and then he massacred a bunch of people. Then I looked back and realized how manipulative he was with Clarke, and what a shitty person he was in general.
9. Be honest. How willing would you have been to take the chip without knowing all the horrible things it does? I don’t think I would have. It wouldn’t really appeal to me. I could see myself giving in if someone I loved was threatened (like Clarke with Abby, I would’ve folded like a lawn chair)
10. What character do you relate to most & What character do you like the least not including the obvious ones like Pike, etc… I relate to Clarke and Raven the most. I’m bossy and serious like Clarke, but also sassy and passionate like Raven. The character I like the least was (don’t bring out the pitchforks) L/xa. To me, from day 1, she was too bland of a character. It’s like she was always putting on this brave facade that I just never bought into. But I truly love ADC and she’s awesome. I just didn’t believe all of L/xa’s dumb philosophies and thought she wasn’t a good leader. Also, Octavia was on my most hated from the moment she laid her hands on her brother (i will never be over that. bitter 2kforever)
11. Describe your delinquent outfit. (Would you wear something like Murphy’s jacket with the spikey red shoulder patch or have a trademark like Jasper’s goggles? Be creative, yet practical) I probably would have had a patchy black leather jacket, gray t shirt that read Space Sucks, combat boots, black ripped up jeans, and the jacket would’ve had RESIST stitched onto the back in big letters (or maybe a patch). I like to think I would’ve been a total badass but who knows.
12. Favorite type of mutant animal? I don’t think we saw many besides two-headed deer, pauna, and maybe some panthers? Oh, wait! Glowing butterflies, those were cool.
13. What would your job be on the Ark? Oooooh, I don’t know. Sounds weird, but I would’ve liked to work in the archives/library, making sure all the history was preserved (sounds like a Bellamy thing, I know). But tbh, I probably would be jailed for starting a resistance as a side gig.
14. Would you have willingly pumped Ontari’s heart if Abby asked? I’m squeamish, but I would’ve done it to save Clarke (and everyone else in turn).
15. If Lexa wasn’t Heda, then who would make the best commander? Hmm, good question. Well I loved Anya and think she could’ve. I think Luna might’ve if she’d given up her weird ways and NOT BEEN TOTALLY RUINED in s4. ALSO LINCOLN (RIP IM NOT OVER IT). If all 3 could’ve led as like a council, that’d be fire.
16. If you were a grounder, then where would you live and who would be your mentor? Oh god, I don’t know the tribes. Maybe Trishanakru (sp?) just cause Ilian’s such a hottie and it would’ve been cool to be friends.
17. How would you act if you ate the hallucinogenic nuts like Jasper and Monty? I’d probably dare everyone to go jump off a waterfall with me (but like a small one)
18. How would you have dealt with Charlotte’s crime? A more John Murphy approach or Bellamy Blake? Uggggghhhh, this is hard. Listen, neither method worked. Charlotte wouldn’t have survived on her own and Murphy’s dumb. Maybe like a jail or something they could’ve kept her in? Idk, there’s too many things that went wrong with all that.
19. Who should be the Chancellor, if anyone? Anyone at all? Crap, I don’t think there should just be one, it’s too much power. I like the idea of council/committee with the mains like Bellamy, Clarke, Kane, Abby, uhh idk who else.
20. Mount Weather had a lot of modern commodities. (example: Maya’s Ipod) What is the one thing you would snatch while there? Headphones to escape all the drama, probably. Maybe some good hiking gear because goddammit how do they all travel through all these jungles/woods?
21. Do you think you’d have caught the virus spread through camp or would you have been immune like Octavia? I would’ve caught it probs.
22. What would your grounder tattoos look like? Hairstyle? War paint? I’d have just cool geo shape tattoos probably. I’d wear a high pony because how do the girls deal with humidity/sweat wearing it down???? My hair is hella thick, so no thanks. War paint would probably just be a few lines on my cheeks, maybe diagonals.
23. Favorite quote? I CAN’T JUST CHOOSE ONE. OH GOD MY HEART LITERALLY HURTS AT ALL THE ONES I LOVE. (this deserves its own post tbh)
24. Can you forgive Murphy for his actions? How about Bellamy? Murphy’s a real pain in my side. Full offense, I hate that we move on so easily from a white boy’s VERY SIGNIFICANT MISTAKES, yet poor POC Bellamy has to keep suffering from the repercussions. Like Murphy LITERALLY permanently damaged Raven’s body yet they’re cool now? Idk, I hold grudges, and I don’t think I’d be able to let it go. Kudos to Raven, ig. Though I won’t hesitate to admit that Bellamy has royally fucked up too, from the radio to the army (which happened in a season I hate altogether). It just seems like we forgive Murphy much easier than Bellamy and it kills me. Whooo, sorry for that.
25. If one of the characters was in the Hunger Games, who would have the best shot at winning? Hmm, I was gonna say Bellamy but he’s a real softie. Clarke is sneaky and sometimes heartless, so maybe her. BUT ACTUALLY Octavia would because she’s absolutely bat-shit crazy.
26. Least favorite ship? Favorite ship? NOT INCLUDING CLEXA OR BELLARKE Aww crap. I didn’t like Flarke. Fave ship (that never happened) was Ice Mechanic, like imagine the chemistry/hotness. Ugh, still upset about this. Fave canon would be Kabby, I guess? They’re great, but it’s weird to think Kane had Abby tortured. Idk (Y’all know I’m ride or die Bellarke). I was conflicted for a long time about Linctavia because I loved them but when you boil it down, he was way older than her and it seemed kinda Stockholm Syndrome-y? Plus, she turns psycho and he would’ve hated it. IDK ALL SHIPS ARE PROBLEMATIC DAMMIT.
27. A song that should be included in the next season, like when Radioactive was? If there had to be another guest star like Shawn Mendes on the show, who would you want to make a cameo? Lindsay said Home II by Dotan and I 100% agree because that song is amazing and would work so well for S5. Oooh, cameos! Um CAN YOU IMAGINE IF STEPHEN KING JUST SHOWED UP OUT OF THE BLUE? Like I would die. Or Kass Morgan, the original creator!
28. What would you do if you were stuck in the bunker with Murphy for all that time? Honestly, I’d probably be very annoyed and want to be far away from him. BUT if we did warm up to each other, I think we’d bond over cooking (if there was any food).
29.Opinion on Emori? Roan? Both badasses. Kinda indifferent on them actually. Like I don’t love or hate them.
30. Would you want to be an extra that is killed off in a brutal way? Yeah, sure. It’d be cool if it was memorable, poignant, and really related to/impacted the storyline. High hopes, amirite?
31. A character you’d like to learn more about and get flashbacks of? Raven, I think. All her flashbacks were related to Finn and I hated it. WHO WAS SHE BESIDES FINN’S GIRLFRIEND? Show us her mess of a mom, how her love for science started, how she became a mechanic! God, there’s so much we don’t know.
32. A character you’d bang? BELLAMY FUCKING BLAKE, ladies and gents.
If you made it through all this, bless your soul! BUT THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN!! I loved having to really think about the hypotheticals and what I’d do if I was in this world/show. Side note, I’ve been totally gone from this blog and not even tagging my stuff (which is where I freak out the most). I’m slowly coming back and hope April comes soon! All right, this has been long enough. I tag @littlebellarkemix & @southsideserpentine & honestly anyone who wants to (it’s a lot of fun).

The Nonkinaverse and You: Chapter 1 - The Nonkinaverse and Clowns as a Species
Well it’s time to kick off some World Building on this blog, and we’re starting with a double whammy: The Nonkinaverse itself, and Clowns as a Species in this ‘Verse.
<--THE NONKINAVERSE-->
The first thing that’s important to know about the Nonkinaverse is that it’s an OC Universe within an OC Universe, this main Universe being The Densetsuverse.
You see, Densetsuverse Clown, Kidd Clown, is a big fan of Japanese Manga and Anime, specifically Shounen series from the 1980/90′s like Fist of the North Star, Kinnikuman, Dragon Ball and City Hunter to name a few. Series’ about Muscle bound heroes fighting one another with tearful and manly friendships. It’s Kidd’s crack.
However Kidd has become fed up with what anime and manga has become in recent years: bland High School comedies, shitty fanservice that’s degrading to women, 100 different light novel adaptations being pumped out on a monthly basis. If it wasn’t for more recent anime and manga like JoJo’s or the more obscure Kongoh Bancho and Kengan Ashura (all of these series I mentioned I HIGHLY suggest giving a shot) he would have given up on both mediums.
But not wanting to just sit on his ass and complain, he decided to do something: Make his own Shounen Manga about Clowns fighting each other! And thus, Nonkina Ace: Clown Fighter!, was born!! (The name is derived from the story’s protag, Ace Nonkina)
Now about the Nonkinaverse itself (WARNING: Prepare for dumb Shounen tier writing and World Building): It’s actually not that different from the Densetsuverse, which in turn isn’t all that different from our own world, but it’s a world of fiction, so bat crazy shit happens in both Uni.
ANYWAYS, the world IS different in that the main center of the Nonkina Ace story, Diamond Star, is located in Upstate New York-Kyo, UPA (United Prefectures of America).
In the Nonkinaverse, World War 2 happened, but it happened differently. Instead of being an enemy to the US, Japan sided with America, and helped the country win the war.
Afterwards relations between the countries blossomed into something no one thought ever imaginable: The two countries formed a power-nation, transforming the United States into the United Prefectures. Much of the US stayed the same, but many cities and infrastructures adopted Japanese methods and aesthetics, making many parts of the US feel like Japan 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Yet Florida remains the same.
And with that out of the way, let’s talk about Clowns as a Species.
<--CLOWNS AS A SPECIES-->
Clowns in the Nonkinaverse are, I guess you can say, mutants? I could never really explain it, but they’re DNA comes from a fork in human DNA, and the differences are mostly in physical appearance, as well as other factors that MIGHT be biological?
Again this is just Shounen-tier bullshit, don’t expect anything clever or on the level as Stephen King.
At a very base level, Clowns and Humans share the same, near 1:1 traits as one another. However, several factors make Clowns, well, Clowns.
-
First is their height: Clowns in the Nonkiaverse are taller than humans. Just to give you an idea, the average height of an adult human is roughly around 5′6″. The height of an average adult Clown is around 7′2. Yeah. Clowns are a tall folk.
-
Next is their skin: 95% of all Clowns are porcelain white from head to toe. Clowns that fall into this include Ace, Johnny, Bucky and Ryosuke. There also exist Clowns who have the white face and colored body from the neck down, such as Sally, Marco (pre-Death), and Raymond.
These tend to be Human/Clown cross-breeds (aka, when a Clown loves a Human), but there exist cases where a Clown can be born with the white face and colored body and even Clowns born with no white skin at all, but these are extremely rare.
But the rarest Clowns of them all are albino Clowns: Albino Clowns are born with absolutely no pigmentation on their ENTIRE being. Literally, from their hair to their toes, no color. Even their iris lack colors in SUPER RARE cases. An example of an Albino Clown is Momotaro Jigu-Jo who remedies their Albinoism with make up, hair dye, etc.
-
This segways into the next factor of Nonkinaverse Clowns: These are without a doubt the most defining trait of a Clown. Clowns are born with naturally colorful hair, a matching nose.
I feel as if I don’t really need to explain this. These are just regular Clown traits that I used for the Nonkinaverse Clowns.
Well I guess I could explain a thing or two more in detail, such as the color of hair and noses. It’s typically decided like how the color of iris are, it’s all hereditary. EX. A Clown couple both have a similar shade of red hair, and their newborn child has the same color.
But there are the occasional Clownborn who’s color is mixed from both parents. EX. A Clown has Yellow hair and their lover has Blue hair, they have a baby and their color is green.
Noses also come a variety of shapes. Round, pointed, crooked, realistic where it looks like the color is painted on and so forth.
-
And lastly, let’s talk about the Crotchular reigion of Clowns: Male Clowns have Penises and the Female Clowns have Vaginas.
That’s right. No Tentabulges. None. Forbidden. BANNED. I’m not dealing with this shite again. I’m not gonna have any of this Homestuck level tier of nonsense with my Clowns.
youtube
-
And that concludes the first lesson of ‘The Nonkinaverse and You’. Next time we’ll discuss Clown Culture of the Nonkinaverse. Until then your homework assignment is to start reading or watching any of the Manga or Anime I listed above as an influence on the Nonkinaverse.
Why? No particular reason. I just wanna show the world more of these great stories that get brushed off to the side unfairly.
Please give them a chance, they’re actually REALLY good. Trust me.
And now you’re dismissed.

Solar Opposites: Unleashed Scene: “The Birth of Lili”
Mutant Bat King Stephen laughs evilly while plotting.
Mutant Bat King Stephen: That’s right. As soon as those Solar Beasts get here, I’ll give them a piece of my mind-
Suddenly, Super Shlorpian Korvo flies in here while roaring.
Super Shlorpian Korvo: Not so fast!
Bat Mutant King Stephen: Grr! You again?!
Bat Mutant King Stephen then notices Super Shlorpian Korvo's pregnant belly and exclaims in horror
Bat Mutant King Stephen: Oh God! Is the Super Shlorpian pregnant?! WHAT THE FUCK?!
Super Shlorpian Korvo growls
Bat Mutant King Stephen: Well, you won’t be able to defeat me! Bat People, attack!
The bat people attack as Super Shlorpian Korvo flies into action
Super Shlorpian Korvo: Time to for you all to chill out! *breathes ice from his breath*
The Bat People are frozen as Bat Mutant King Stephen growls
Bat Mutant King Stephen: Stupid savage bitch! Why must you ruin everything?!
Super Shlorpian Korvo: Because I- *groans in pain as his water breaks* Please tell me my water didn't just break! Fuck! FUCK!
Bat Mutant King Stephen: *laughs evilly* I think you must be going into labor now!
Super Shlorpian Korvo flies and goes to somewhere to hide
Bat King Mutant Stephen: *laughs evilly* Better follow this weak bitch!
Super Shlorpian Korvo finds somewhere to hide and groans in pain
Super Shlorpian Korvo: No! Not now!
Super Shlropian Korvo cries out as blood spews out from under his Shlorpian vagina. Bat King Mutant Stephen is still looking for Super Shlorpian Korvo as he chuckles evilly.
Bat King Mutant Stephen: You can’t hide from me, Opposites!
Super Shlorpian Korvo breathes heavily
Super Shlorpian Korvo: *crying as he kept pushing* FUCK! OH GOD! *cries out in pain*
Bat King Mutant Stephen hears Super Shlorpian Korvo and smirks
Bat King Mutant Stephen: I got you now!
Super Shlorpian Korvo: Shit! I gotta-
But Super Shlorpian Korvo keeps crying out as he is the close to giving birth.
Super Shlorpian Korvo: *pushes really hard* AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!
Then, suddenly, a cute baby Shlorpian girl with the same skin color as Terry is born as she starts crying. Super Shlorpian Korvo gasps and sheds tears of joy.
Super Shlorpian Korvo: *tearfully in happiness* Oooh my sweet little sprout…
Bat King Mutant Stephen suddenly appears
Bat King Mutant Stephen: Ah-ha! Got you now!
Super Shlorpian Korvo gasps.
Super Shlorpian Korvo: *grabs Lili and hold her safe carefully close to him* Stay away from her you bitch!
Bat King Mutant Stephen: *laughs* I don't plan on hurting you...yet.
Lili: *cries*
Super Shlorpian Korvo: What are you talking about?
Bat King Mutant Stephen: You and your family will meet me and my people here for a battle tomorrow at dawn!
Mundane Terry: *offscreen* My Korvy!
Super Shlorpian Korvo turns around and gasps. He then sees Mundane Terry, Super Shlorpain Yumyulack, Mundane Jesse and Were-Kraken Sonya and are relived he is okay. But then, Mundane Terry bites Bat King Mutant Stephen on the arm to get him away from husband as he snarls.
Bat King Mutant Stephen: How dare you?! I am a king! You will respect my authority!
Mundane Terry punches Bat King Mutant Stephen, who snarls and flies away from the family. The monster Replicants and Werekraken Sonya run up to Super Shlorpian Korvo and are overjoyed to see their new baby sister.
Mundane Jesse: Is that our sister?! Korvo, how did this-
Super Shlorpian Korvo: *shedding tears of joy* It was some kind of miracle. Your new sister is born. Kids, meet Lili.
Lili: *coos*
Werekraken Sonya: *smiling and softly doing a nose kiss on Llili* Hello baby sister…
Lili: *coos*
Super Shlorpian Yumyulack: *shedding tears of joy* Aw she looks so cute.
Super Shlorpian Korvo: Yeah..she is... *starts weeping*
Mundane Terry: Oh honey… *holds Super Shlorpian Korvo close* Shh… *smiling at Lili* Hey there sweetie… I’m your daddy…
Lili babbles and touches Mundane Terry's face as Super Shlorpian Korvo laughs.
Super Shlorpian Korvo: She really likes you.
Mundane Terry chuckles
Mundane Terry: Hell yeah she does. *tickles Lili’s chin softly as it makes her giggle*
Super Shlorpian Korvo: You know, she almost looks just like you.
Mundane Terry: I know. Look at her beautiful green skin. Welcome to the world Lili…
Super Shlorpian Korvo kisses his Mundane husband on the lips.
Lili: *babbling*
Mundane Jesse: Hey, Lili...
Lili touches her father’s face as Mundane Terry chuckles. Lili then yawns and falls asleep as the two monster alien husbands smile at their new baby.

off the rack #1287
Monday, November 11, 2019
Lest we forget, today is Remembrance Day. This day brings back memories of going to elementary school at Percy Street Public. I was chosen one year to participate in the Remembrance Day tribute to the fallen. The old World War II uniform I had to wear was super itchy and I remember thinking "how could the soldiers live in them?". I remember getting in trouble when I used my hand as a bugle and imitated blowing taps during rehearsal. Our teacher ran backstage thinking one of us had turned on the reel to reel tape player and I had to admit that it was only me and my big mouth. She was not amused. I am grateful to be living in the true north, strong and free and honour all the men and women who sacrificed for our freedom.
Superman Up In The Sky #5 - Tom King (writer) Andy Kubert (pencils) Sandra Hope (inks) Brad Anderson (colours) Clayton Cowles (letters). It's beginning to bother me that Superman is so focused on rescuing this little girl that has been abducted by aliens. Is this story just showing what he is willing to endure to save someone? If so, I'm not impressed. We already know that Superman will fight to the death as seen in his battle with Doomsday. I'm going to keep reading because the writing is very good. We see Darkseid this issue and there's a mystery villain coming up in the next issue that I want to meet.
Savage Avengers #7 - Gerry Duggan (writer) Patch Zircher (art) Java Tartaglia (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). There are three subplots in this issue and one of them made me laugh. First we have Brother Voodoo being a guest of the wizard Kulan Gath. Then there's Elektra getting help from Doctor Strange to find Brother Voodoo's brother. Finally the funny part is Conan getting shanghaied in Brazil by a mystery bad guy and taken to his humble abode. I like this implausible team of heroes.
Daredevil #13 - Chip Zdarsky (writer) Marco Checchetto (art) Nolan Woodard (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). Oh yeah, I like where this is going. Matt gets schooled by Elektra on his road back to wearing the horns. Detective North is ordered to take time off and does what I wish I could do when confronted by disrespectful punks on his way home. I really hope Daredevil and North form a bond.
Web of the Black Widow #3 - Jody Houser (writer) Stephen Mooney (art) Triona Farrell (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). Natasha eliminates one person who might be impersonating her by teaming up with Yelena on a mission to steal data. I think there's a hint to who the real villain is in the flashbacks to the old Red Room.
Lois Lane #5 - Greg Rucka (writer) Mike Perkins (art) Gabe Eltaeb (colours) Simon Bowland (letters). I'm really liking this story of Lois rooting out corruption with a side of The Question beating up henchmen. I'm also enjoying the Stumptown TV show that is based on a comic book that Greg Rucka did. You should watch it too. Cobie Smulders is great in it.
Young Justice # - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) John Timms (art pages 1, 8-10, 13-22) Nick Derington (art) Gabe Eltaeb & Dave Stewart (colours) Wes Abbott (letters). I'm glad that's over. The good Young Justice finally beat their evil doppelgangers and get back to their own universe. There they meet their new member.
X-Force #1 - Benjamin Percy (writer) Joshua Cassara (art) Dean White (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). I am not familiar with the writer and artist names in the credits so that puts this new X-book at a disadvantage when it comes to it possibly making it on to my "must read" list. Benjamin & Joshua did an okay job with the last page making it necessary to follow up with the second issue but it wasn't good enough to make it on to the list.
The Infected: King Shazam #1 - Sina Grace (writer) Joe Bennett (pencils) Belardino Brabo & Matt Santorelli (inks) Hi-Fi (colours) Rob Leigh (letters). I don't know why they call this Year of the Villain version of Shazam King Shazam. What's a king of, cruelty? This one shot starts off with a very bad Bill Batson mouthing off to his foster parents. Then he says the magic word and is transformed into evil Shazam and goes on a rampage beating up mythological gods like Atlas and Thor. When his sister Mary catches up to him, he infects her too. If it wasn't for Joe (The Immortal Hulk) Bennett's art I would have left this on the rack.
New Mutants #1 - Ed Brisson & Jonathan Hickman (writers) Rod Reis (art) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). That was fun. The gang's all here even though Rahne had to be hatched. Then it's off to Shi'ar space to bring Sam home. There's a new member, Mondo, and Warlock is missing but Doug is here. These guys first appeared on the racks in 1982 and have gone through some roster changes but overall are a fun young team. I liked this enough to recommend it but not enough to want to keep reading.
Batman Universe #5 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) Nick Derington (art) Dave Stewart (colours) A Larger World's Troy Peteri (letters). That was cool. Nightwing joins his old Dynamic Duo partner to hunt down Vandal Savage and the egg of power. We find out what's inside when the egg hatches and that's the cool part.
The Amazing Spider-Man #33 - Nick Spencer (writer) Patrick Gleason (art) Matthew Wilson (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). Not much of a 2099 cross-over to begin things before we get back to Spider-Man and his spy sister getting an explanation from Silver Sable to what's going down in Symkaria. This leads to an assassination attempt at the UN. That plotline interests me far more than Spider-Man saving 2099.
Black Cat #6 - Jed MacKay (writer) Mike Dowling (art) Brian Reber (colours) Ferran Delgado (letters). Mike Dowling is a new name on my artist list and he sure can draw a hot looking Felicia. I hope he stays on this book for a while. The Black Cat goes on a date with Batroc while her mentor The Fox is attacked by what looks like The Hand. A rescue mission will have to be mounted.
Fantastic Four #16 - Dan Slott (writer) Sean Izaakse (art) Marcio Menyz (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). Part 3 of "Point of Origin" has the separated team members figuring out how to reunite. Trust Reed and Sue to come up with a plan. I really like how Sean draws the Thing.
Legion of Super-Heroes #1 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) Ryan Sook (pencils) Ryan Sook & Wade von Grawbadger (inks) Jordie Bellaire (colours) Dave Sharpe (letters). The super hero team from the 31st Century is back on the racks. Let's see how long this lasts. This time it's the Jonathan Kent Superboy that joins the team which makes this book fresher for me. I cringed a little when time travel reared its ugly head briefly but they didn't go there and I hope they steer clear of it. I love Ryan's art and this is a Bendis book so I'm going to keep reading.
Miles Morales: Spider-Man #12 - Saladin Ahmed (writer) Javier Garron (art) David Curiel (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). Miles stops his uncle Aaron from completing a contract hit and now there's a bounty on the Prowler's head. Lots of action with a fight between Miles and the Prowler and then they team up to fight Man Mountain Marko who looks like Logan on steroids. This sets up Miles and his uncle having to get to Red Hook through a gauntlet of killers. I wonder what other old bad Marvel guys are going to come out of the woodwork. Man Mountain Marko. Seriously.
Doctor Doom #2 - Christopher Cantwell (writer) Salvador Larroca (art) Guru-eFX (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). I love the art but I don't like this portrayal of Victor. First he surrenders himself and then he goes seeking help from a fellow villain. I'm hoping this isn't the real Victor Von Doom because then what happens on the last page won't matter. It's a cliffhanger ending that ensures my reading the next issue.
Batman #82 - Tom King (writer) Mikel Janin (art) Jordie Bellaire (colours) Clayton Cowles (letters). This is what we've been building up to for while now. The inevitable fight with Bane. The Bat and the Cat make a great team and Selina has never looked fiercer. I didn't like the intervention of Thomas Wayne but it did make me curious to see what happens next.

Anticipation
Tokyo Comic con is underway and it’s dropping gems left and right, specifically stuff about Godzilla: King of Monsters. There are some designs from the Figuarts designs and, holy sh*t! My hype is real! Dat Mothra! Dem concept arts. But dat Ghidorah, tho! I can’t wait until next year! Which kind of made me realize that next year is 30 days away. Like, this year is almost over. An entire year of movies, has come and gone. There were some surprises and some let-downs but, overall, i had a great time. So, with my little kaiju fanboy heart a flutter, i want to look forward to next year and all the films i plan to check out then.
1. Glass
F*cking Glass, man! Look, Unbreakable was my favorite Shamalamamanlan film until Spit happened. To find out that they are part of the same universe and The Beats will square of against Dunn due to the machination of Mr. Glass? Are you f*cking serious? I also adore the fact that Sarah Paulson is in this thing. I genuinely just love Sarah Paulson. My hype for this movie is at maximum and it is easily my most anticipated film of next year.
2. Godzilla: King of the Monsters
I am massive Godzilla fan. I have been since i was a youngster. Godzilla, Spider-Man, and Transformers are the holy trinity of my childhood and, as a an adult, i still worship at the alter of Kaiju. After seeing those Figurarts leaks from Tokyo Comic Con, i cannot wait for this flick to drop! I’ve heard mixed reviews from the rough cut screening but i don’t even care! Ghidorah looks fan-f*cking-tastic!
3. Spider-Man: Far From Home
As mentioned above, Spider-Man is one of the tent poles of my childhood. I love Pete and try to consume any media he happens to grace. Generally speaking, i always have a great time with it. I particularly enjoyed last year’s Homecoming. I think Tom Holland captures the spirit of Peter Parker perfectly and i look forward to his next adventure with batted breath.
4. IT: Chapter Two
Yo, i did not expect IT to be that good! Easily one of my favorite films from last year. Bill Skarsgard was f*cking horrifying but the chemistry the kids had is what really sold that film. The adult cast for Part II is a f*cking masterpiece and there are whispers the kids are coming back, too. This thing should be dope. I hope it’s dope. God, i hope it’s dope...
5. Avengers: Endgame
It’s rare that films keep me on my toes. Ive seen enough of them to know the tropes and cliches. Infinity War destroyed all of that. It destroyed me. I have no idea where we go from here and i am going into this next phase of Marvel, completely blind.
6. Under The Silver Lake
My requisite A24 outing. I don’t know much about this flick but my favorite studio never slacks so my confidence this flick will be amazing is pretty high.
7. John Wick 3: Parabellum
John Wick has been a real surprise. I passed on the first in theaters but rectified that folly with Chapter 2. These films have been f*cking incredible and i look forward to, not only Chapter 3, but the expanded universe, too. The Continental series is just SO enticing! Almost as enticing as the final chapter in John Wick’s story.
8. Captain Marvel
Carol Danvers is my chick! She’s my fifth favorite Marvel character after Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Illyanna Rasputin, and Venom. Brie Larson is one of my favorite actresses working. Plus, anything with Sam Jackson is gold in my book. Still, i am little worried about this thing’s reception with the masses. While Carol is Marvel’s nuclear option, her mythos is a little lax. I don’t know that Captain Marvel has enough to carry a full movie but i trust Feige. Dude knows what he’s doing.
9. Pet Sematary
I didn’t particularly care for the first Pet Sematary. I thought it was corny. But that trailer for this new one? Man, f*ck that thing! That sh*t looks genuinely terrifying. It looks like someone took a lesson from IT and made a proper Stephen King adaption. This one might be a sleeper hit for me.
10. Jacob’s Ladder
I’m a huge fan of the original Jacob’s Ladder. Tim Robbins was spectacular in that flick and the imagery was intense. So intense, in fact, it was a major inspiration for the Silent Hill franchise. Those games are crazy f*cked up, particularly the first four, so seeing what they can do with modern tech is more than interest piquing.
11. Terminator 6
I’m a sucker for a terminator movie. I am. I’ve seen all of them, even that cinematic abortion, Genisys. With the return of Arnold, Linda, and Cameron, i have expectations for this thing. They’re not high but i’m confident it won’t suck crazy hard.
12. Zombieland Too
I didn’t even know this was coming out next year. I heard there was a sequel but i had no idea it was ready to drop so soon. I adored the first Zombieland. I don’t really know where you go from there but i look forward to finding out.
13. Pokemon Detective Pikachu
This is on the list strictly for the Deadpool 3 fodder. That sh*t is about to be amazing!
14. Captive State
I saw a preview for this in front of some Youtube video and was kind of enthralled. Admittedly, i looks real Battle: Los Angeles, but the premise kind of speaks to me. I’m a sucker for that science fiction life so i think this might work out in the end. r it’ll be as sh*tty as Kin. This one is my gamble. I hope i don’t crap out.
15. Alita: Battle Angel
Last year, this was my most anticipated film. Since it got pushed back, it slipped down the line a bit. After the first trailer, all the way back to the top. after that last trailer, all the way to the bottom. Look, i adore GUNNM tremendously. Gally’s adventures have had a special place in my heart since those old-timey OVAs. While i’m confident that this thing won’t crash and burn like Ghost in the Shell, i’m still a little apprehensive about where this thing can land.
This thing ended up longer than last year, mostly because i couldn’t stop at just ten. There’s just so much coming out next year. Hell, i even have a pretty healthy list of honorable mentions: Episode IX, Joker, Dark Phoenix, New Mutants, What Men Want, Charlie’s Angels, Sonic the Hedgehog, Artemis Fowl, Kingsman: The Great Game, Hellboy, Shazam!, MIB, Happy Death Day 2U, and Eli. I’m crazy excited to see what surprises pop up. Suspiria came out of left field this year and took top honors in my top-ten list. Next year is looking pretty chunky in cinema!
