Near the end of May, I finally posted the first posts in this bracket, laying the groundwork for the Anime Child Adoption Bracket I had been planning almost since the first time I saw a gimmicky tournament blog. The next morning, I checked the submission form to see what had been submitted so far. And to my confusion, the first thing I saw was…

I had heard of Erased, but I didn’t know much about it. So I checked the TV Tropes character sheet to see whether there was one kid who was an obvious choice for “That kid”. To my concern, the second section (after “Main Characters”) was labeled “Mikoto Elementary School”. Worse, multiple main characters are children—Airi is in high school in the present, while Satoru and Kayo are in elementary school in the past.

I was caught in a bind. I felt I had to decide which of these children was most likely to be “That kid”. I would struggle to pick a single That Kid from any anime I loved if it had this many kids, especially if the protagonist’s kid-ness was so debatable. He looks like a kid for much of the story, but he doesn’t act much like one, and his chronological age is ambiguous.

Then, I had an epiphany. A thought that would let me resolve this problem without any chance of picking the wrong kid, with the side benefit of adding an element of whimsy to the bracket.

It would be hilarious if I listed them as “That kid”.

What does Tumblr have to say about that kid?

It's funny how tumblr-the-company has put all this energy into embracing the userbase's mockery and disdain towards twitter..... while at the same time they're seemingly trying to turn tumblr INTO a twitter clone.

Maybe the CEO or someone THINKS that what tumblr users mean is we hate post-Musk twitter, and that we'd embrace a pre-Musk style twitter clone....

but no, I think 90% of us legitimately have no love for twitter, pre or post Musk. It was a toxic usage site long before muskyboy. Doomscrolling was a term invented on twitter.

I never thought that I would be hoping that Goldman Sachs perform an eviction so much in my life. The fact Muskyboi is absolutely refusing to pay rent to GS and that he is in six figures debt to them for rent could see Twitter HQ taken by the Bailiffs and stripped bare on live TV at any time fills me with glee. It's like finding out Erdogan hates Piers Morgan's guts and can and will kill him on sight with his own bare hands.

Okay, I need to get this out of my head before it kills me, and I don't dare drop it on Twitter because I value my sanity and blood pressure.

The fact that Fuckboi Mcmuskwad is implementing, or trying to implement, payment-backed verification is absolutely fucking bullocks and shows he doesn't know his eyes from his arsehole. The point of blue checks/verification on there is to make sure the person saying this, that, or the other thing is who they say they are. It's a bigger deal with people who have sway with larger audiences (celebs of all walks, politicians, etc.), but at the end of the day, if it looks like Stephen King is dragging Muskyboi, the blue check aasures you it is indeed that author of Cujo doing the dragging.

A lot of people on one thread I saw are pointing out that bot farms in other countries are going to scoop that shit up like Halloween candy on November 1st and then the bot/spam/scam issues are going to be even worse. And anyone who still thinks he's a businessman...

Some think he'll get bored and try to move on. I think that's unlikely, since he sunk 44B USD into it, but we'll see. I don't want to see it crash and burn, because there are a lot of artists of varying stripes on there, and having to move would be a huge detriment, both in terms of audience retention and financials.

So yea, we'll wait and see. And keep praying to whatever deities that listen for the fucking touchhole that is Musk to be erased from existence in some lasting way.

i have a lot of friends who play Counter Strike semi-professionally, especially in the FE scene.

An organization, Eys Clan, kicked my friend because She is trans, and they "didnt want to play with a man"

due to most of the scene happening on Elon Muskybois self-flaggelation fest formerly known on twitter, there is physically no way to call them out for what they are, TERFs.

They don't have much of a following, but are playing with some of the biggest names in the scene right now, and are getting invited to major events.

This is a stain on the scene as a whole, what's left of it anyway.

I'm not sure all the pressure in the world would make tournament organizers care.
