Baltimore: Night of Solidarity with Cuba - Dinner, Speakers & Music

Join us for a Night of Solidarity with Cuba including dinner, music and special guest speaker, Cuban Embassy, Second Secretary, David Ramirez Alvarez. Meet youth and community activists who will travel to Cuba.

Delicious Cuban inspired dinner: Cuban style shrimp & grits, Black beans and rice, roasted turkey & ham, desert & much more.

Tickets for dinner are $10 to $25. No one turned away for lack of funds. Funds raised will help with scholarships for local activists planning to go to Cuba.

Well #day13 came in super positive if you followed along at all on my Twitter or Facebook post I have been making it #musicsaturday I have been playing complete albums from start to finish. It was going very well then real life reappeared in the mid-afternoon. Can’t really comment on that until Monday, So my musical evening will continue, just with a drink in my hand. I can see my musical choices have become a bit more melancholy. So out of necessity I have been using my walnut orgeat as much as I can while it is still good. It is a magical concoction. I used it with whiskey earlier in the week, but tonight I used rum. I call this “This is What Iced Coffee Should Be” 2oz Eldorado Rum 1/2 oz Kahlua 1/2 oz walnut orgeat 1/2 oz strong brewed coffee 1 oz cream Put ingredients into container and stir. Strain over large cube of ice. Garnish with coffee beans and freshly ground beans. This drink is a winner — if you like a White Russian style drink this would be in that realm. The day started with a coffee and brunch on the front deck. I was out there for 30min. And not one person passed by. People are definitely holed up and the grey sky probably kept many people inside. The music played loud and it was nice to reflect on the positives from the past week. Brynn has been in creative mode and has been painting all day. I’m happy she will get to see her mom tomorrow. It has been too long. This virus continues to create so much havoc in our lives. I’m lucky that I can do what I do, but as every day passes on more and more people are sent into turmoil. So the emotional swings are huge — extreme joy to utter frustration. A huge question mark looms over many people’s lives. So I will continue to listen to Tom Waits’ “Closing Time”. I just watch the just movie not too long ago and I was very impressive with how real it was to the true story of Christmas. Of course it shown through eyes of very funny, cute animals like Boaz the donkey, Dave the Dove etc but message of true meaning of Christ is there. There moments of where Jospeh and Mary where saying Why Me? Just simple man and girl and my favourite is end when Boaz offer grace and forgiveness to bad outsiders the dogs, and offer them see Jesus, in my mind pointing to gospel how Jesus brings many people to him in repentance, forgiveness and love. And the SOUNDTRACK sooo good with new Christmas songs like #ChildrenGoWhereISentYou, #TheStar to classics #HolyNight #MaryDoYouKnow with alist talented artists a soundtrack you want to add this Christmas season.
