Hot on the heels of their current release, 2022’s Blue Rev, Canada’s Alvvays took to the road with their "Canadian" Spring Tour, which also included stops in Detroit, MI and Spokane, WA. The 22 song set (19 from the main show and 3 encore songs) was a showcase of both new and favourite tracks. It is definitely a show that will appeal to all their fans. When you are thinking about attending a Betty Who concert, you know that it will be a night filled with great music. But when you actually go see Betty live, it's more than just music. It's a full on entertainment experience. Almost every song is choreographed with her amazing back-up dancers (and even her guitar player for some songs). I keep hearing people talk about a new group of young singers who aren't afraid to discuss and promote female empowerment. At its core are four key artists: Billie Eilish, Tate McRae, Nessa Barrett and Jessie Murph. When I heard Jessie Murph was coming to The Pike Room in Pontiac, I knew that was a show I wanted to see. There is often a hype behind emerging artists, which isn't always deserved, so I was excited to see which was true here. I'm happy to say, in my opinion Jessie deserves all the praises I've been hearing about her, and more. Winsconsin's Disq was on full display as they recently opened for Alvvays as part of their "Canadian Spring Tour", which also included stops in Detroit, MI and Spokane, WA. Originally formed by long time friends Raina Bock (bass guitar, vocals) and Isaac DeBroux-Stone (lead guitar, vocals), Disq has expanded to include Logan Severson (guitar, vocals), Shannon Conor (guitar, vocals), and Brendan Manley (drums). He is arguably one of the best singers, song writers, and performers from the 80's who is still out here making music and making women of all ages swoon, including me. Let's just say, when the countdown on the stage began all I could hear was a sold out crowd of women screaming at the top of their lungs. Skillet closed out the opening night of the Rock Resurrection Tour which they are co-headling with Theory of a Deadman. Most people know, I LOVE seeing Skillet perform! They do more than just play music, they give you a full blown show. No matter if you only know one song or every song, you will have so much fun seeing them! Do you remember the days back in Santa Monica? I sure don’t but Theory of a Deadman sure does and I am lucky enough to have been able to cover the opening night for their new tour with Skillet and Saint Asonia! I've been excited about this tour since it was announced because I love all three of these incredible bands. Having seen Tynomi Banks on Season 1 of Canada's Drag Race I knew that she was an amazing performer. It would be easy for those who only know her from Drag Race to think of her as only being a Canadian Queen, but that is really underselling her. Tynomi has been mastering her craft as an artist for over 11 years making multiple film and television appearances and has truly established herself as a world-class queen. Some artists I just want to see every time they tour. I will always try to see The Beaches, Dream Wife, SOFI TUKKER and a few others. And of course, I will always try to see Lights. So I can't explain how disappointed I was when Lights announced the 2022 "Baby I'm Back Tour" was only going to be in the US. Usually I would have went to the Detroit show, that venue is super close and it would have been so convenient for me to get there. However, Covid restriction were still a thing and crossing the border to go to a concert wasn't really an option at that time. So when I heard that Lights decided to bring her tour to Canada in 2023, I was all in on that. Nothing was about to stop me from making the 2 hour drive to London to see her show. Having seen Lights perform multiple before, I know that she always puts on a great show. So please believe me when I say this was this show was next level. Her voice was absolutely amazing. It seems to get stronger and more powerful every tour. Her energy was incredible. She was moving around the stage almost the entire set and it was just so fun...
