Pop star Kesha and producer Dr. Luke have settled nearly a decade of suits and countersuits over her accusation that he drugged and raped her and his claim that she made it up and defamed him, they announced Thursday, with the singer saying that “only God knows what happened that night.” [...] The deal averts a trial that had been scheduled for this summer over allegations that became a #MeToo cause for Kesha’s supporters and came to involve a lineup of music industry luminaries. Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Pink, Avril Lavigne, Adam Levine and Taio Cruz are among those who gave testimony or sworn statements related to the case. At the same time, the case raised important legal questions about fame and defamation. The stakes were seen as high enough that media outlets weighed in about pretrial rulings that they worried could help powerful people suppress unflattering reporting. Kanye West: completed documentary shelved as talent agency drops star
Antisemitic comments from US rapper has led to further industry backlash, as film is dropped and major talent agency CAA cuts ties
18:20 UTC Monday, 24 October 2022
A completed documentary about Kanye West, also known as Ye, has been scrapped amid concern and industry backlash over the rapper’s string of antisemitic statements in recent weeks.
“This morning, after discussion with our film-makers and distribution partners, we made the decision not to proceed with any distribution for our recently completed documentary about Kanye West,” the co-leaders of film and television studio MRC – Modi Wiczyk, Asif Satchu and Scott Tenley – wrote in a statement on Monday. “We cannot support any content that amplifies his platform.”
George Floyd’s family sues Kanye West for saying he died from drug abuse
Read more
The company is the latest to cut ties with West after the rapper has publicized antisemitic views first made during an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson earlier this month.
The rapper’s longtime talent agency CAA has stopped representing the artist in the past month, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Agency heads Ari Emanuel of Endeavor, Bob Gersh and UTA’s Jeremy Zimmer have all called for Hollywood companies to sever working relationships with West. “We can’t support hate speech, bigotry or antisemitism. Please support the boycott of Kanye West,” Zimmer wrote in a company-wide email.
West tweeted on 8 October that he was going to go “death con 3 on Jewish people,” misusing the military alert term Defcon, and posted that “you guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda,” seemingly in reference to the Jewish people. Twitter removed the posts and suspended West’s account.
West doubled down on his views during an unaired appearance on the talk show The Shop: Uninterrupted, which pulled the episode because West “used The Shop to reiterate more hate speech and extremely dangerous stereotypes,” co-host Maverick Carter told Andscape.
The fashion house Balenciaga also severed tied with West following an appearance last week on the Drink Champs podcast. During the 45-minute conversation, West floated a litany of antisemitic conspiracy theories and claimed George Floyd was not killed by Minneapolis police but instead died of a fentanyl overdose. Floyd’s daughter Roxie Washington has since filed a $250m lawsuit against West for defamation.
Pressure has mounted on sportswear company Adidas to also separate from West, which had already put their business relationship with West “under review” following his appearance in a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt during Paris fashion seek. West then told the Drink Champs podcast: “I can literally say antisemitic shit, and they can’t drop me … I can say antisemitic things, and Adidas can’t drop me. Now what?”
The comments prompted the Anti-Defamation League to publicly call on Adidas to end its business with West: “In light of Kanye West’s increasingly strident antisemitic remarks over the past few weeks, we were disturbed to learn that Adidas plans to continue to release new products from his Yeezy brand without any seeming acknowledgment of the controversy surrounding his most recent remarks,” a statement said.
“We urge Adidas to reconsider supporting the Ye product line and to issue a statement making clear that the Adidas company and community has no tolerance whatsoever for antisemitism.”
Over the weekend, several Los Angeles city officials condemned demonstrations in support of West’s antisemitic comments, in which a small group of people made the Nazi salute by a freeway and held signs encouraging drivers to “honk if you know” alongside “Kanye is right about the Jews”.
“We condemn this weekend’s antisemitic incidents,” Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti tweeted. “Jewish Angelenos should always feel safe. There is no place for discrimination or prejudice in Los Angeles. And we will never back down from the fight to expose and eliminate it.”

This is Jaguar Wright.
For a time back in the 2000s she had some industry visibility working with The Roots, Jay-Z and other big name artists as a supporting member (background vocals, signing the chorus on a hook, etc). She also had her own solo career.
Like alot of people who enter the business, sometimes the star dims soon after it shines. Around 4 or 5 years ago, she finds a new avenue for visibility - Industry Insider. Due to her essentially adding to the narrative about Diddy, she's gained enough traction for her to be featured on Piers Morgan.
Unfortunately, the fact she performed with some of the biggest names in music is not confirmation that what she says is fact. Not verifying her claims, despite her internet clout, can lead to news organizations being sued and reporters feeling embarrassed and ashamed for giving people like her attention. Of course her fanbase can't understand this, especially since Piers Morgan himself and his network where threatened by Beyonce/Jay-Z's legal team with a lawsuit rather than Jaguar.
"If they don't sue her, she's telling the truth".
What is the purpose of filing a lawsuit against Jaguar?
By all accounts, Jaguar herself does not have the money nor the assets to be worth suing since that is the overall point of a lawsuit regarding defamation. Since outlets like that one Piers Morgan has come attached with a massive financial nest, it's much easier to sue the network and the host. A news network, especially in these times, are more willing to comply with legal threats so that money they have isn't lost to incidents such as this.
Another thought that hasn't been brought into the conversation is that the opposite is true - suing someone for what they say about you can also make them appear legit. Just as much as there is a benefit to being on a news network, there's a greater benefit to being sued by famous people since the media will no doubt provide coverage and viability to Jaguar. The more she says, truth or not, the more she hopes someone will try to come for her who has the clout.
Just something to think about

Drake reportedly paid $350,000 to a woman who accused him of sexual assaultin 2017, during the British leg of his Boy Meets World tour.
In November last year, the hip hop star settled a lawsuit with Laquana Morris, who also goes by the name Layla Lace. He filed against Morris for civil extortion, fraud, emotional distress, abuse of process and defamation.
Drake admitted to having consensual sex with Morris while at a hotel in Manchester, England, in February 2017, but denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.
According to the suit, Morris claimed she booked a flight to see Drake soon after they slept together, but became angry when she did not receive a response and cancelled the flight. Drake ceased communications with her.
The suit alleged that Morris also claimed Drake raped her and that she demanded money from him, even after Manchester police cleared him of any allegations of sexual assault.
After she allegedly refused to do a paternity test, Drake claimed Morris changed the story to accuse him of sexual assault and said her claims were a hoax designed to extort money from him.

“There is no credible evidence of pregnancy, nor any baby, which would have been born last fall,” he said in court documents.
“The filing made by Drake against Layla Lace has been resolved, with Layla avoiding going to trial by agreeing to a stipulated judgment which prohibits her from repeating past statements she made against Drake,” Drake’s attorney Larry Stein said in a statement to TMZ last year.
“Drake and his team are satisfied with this outcome and while Drake appreciates the support he has received, he asks that his fans and the media allow both parties to move on with their lives.”

Details of the amount reportedly paid to Morris ($350,000) have since been revealed in a complaint she filed against her New York attorney, according to TheBlast.com.
In her complaint, Morris describes what allegedly happened after she and Drake went back to his hotel room following his Manchester concert.
Morris is reportedly aggrieved that the November 2018 settlement with Drake included a statement that she now claims portrayed him as the victim in the situation. She also claims that her attorney worked with Drake’s lawyer against her best interests.
US media reports that Morris may have breached the agreement by revealing details of the settlement, which included a requirement that she not repeat her allegations of sexual assault.

Kesha, Producer Dr Luke Settle Longstanding Legal Battle Over Rape And Defamation Claims
The court clash between Kesha and the Grammy-nominated producer Dr Luke has been playing out since 2014 and looming over both of their careers.
Pop star Kesha and producer Dr. Luke have settled nearly a decade of suits and countersuits over her accusation that he drugged and raped her and his claim that she made it up and defamed him, they announced Thursday, with the singer saying that “only God knows what happened that night.”
Dr. Luke, meanwhile, said he was “absolutely certain that nothing happened. I never drugged or assaulted her.” Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed, as both she and he revealed on Instagram that they had agreed to “a resolution” of the case and to a statement from each of them. Messages seeking comment were sent to their attorneys.
“I cannot recount everything that happened,” Kesha wrote, adding that she wishes “nothing but peace to all parties involved.” Dr. Luke, in turn, said he wished her well and wanted “to put this difficult matter behind me” after years of fighting to clear his name.
The deal averts a trial that had been scheduled for this summer over allegations that became a #MeToo cause for Kesha’s supporters and came to involve a lineup of music industry luminaries.
The court clash between the multiplatinum-selling singer and the Grammy-nominated producer has been playing out since 2014 and looming over both of their careers. The Associated Press does not generally name people who report being sexually assaulted unless they come forward publicly, as Kesha has done.
The singer made her name — originally styled Ke$ha — with a series of swaggering, just-try-to-stop-me party anthems, beginning with 2009’s “TiK ToK.” Those early hits were produced by Dr. Luke, who founded the record label that signed a Nashville unknown named Kesha Rose Sebert at age 18.
Born Lukasz Gottwald, he has produced chart-toppers for Perry, Lavigne, Flo Rida and more. Besides notching multiple Grammy nominations, Dr. Luke has repeatedly won pop songwriter of the year awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. Kesha sued him in 2014, alleging he drugged and raped her nine years earlier and psychologically tormented her throughout their working relationship. She said he harangued her about her weight, denigrated her voice and lorded his power over her career.
“The abuse I suffered from Luke was a decade long, every day, every moment of every day,” she said during sworn questioning in 2017. According to Kesha, the ordeal sparked a flare-up of an eating disorder that led to her spending two months in a rehabilitation clinic in 2014.
Dr. Luke, who has not been charged with any crimes, responded by suing Kesha. He has asserted that she made “completely untrue and deeply hurtful” claims to tarnish him and get out of her record contract. “Any reasonable person will not believe her,” he said when questioned under oath in 2017.
His attorneys have noted that Kesha herself said he “never made sexual advances at me” during sworn questioning in a separate lawsuit in 2011. She has since said she was “not entirely transparent” in those 2011 statements because she was terrified of Dr. Luke and felt compelled to protect him.
Kesha went five years without releasing an album during the standoff, saying she could not work with a “monster” but couldn’t get away from him because she was under contract with his label. His lawyers and the label’s attorneys maintained that she did not have to work with him personally.
She eventually returned with 2017’s “Rainbow” and two subsequent albums, all with other producers. Her most recent album, “Gag Order,” came out in May. Dr. Luke’s career also took a hit after she went public with her allegations. He has said various artists, particularly female ones, eschewed “working with someone who’s called a rapist.”
But under the name Tyson Trax, he made it back to the top of the charts in 2020 with Doja Cat’s “Say So,” garnering his first Grammy nomination since 2014. By this year, he was ASCAP’s pop songwriter of the year once again.
Along the way, Kesha’s sexual abuse-related claims were dismissed because of time limits and other legal issues, without any findings about the merits of the allegations themselves. But she countersued Dr. Luke under a New York law against bringing frivolous suits to try to intimidate critics into silence; New York’s highest court recently ruled that she could pursue those claims.
The top court, which New York calls the Court of Appeals, also declared that Dr. Luke is a “public figure” in the eyes of the law. That’s significant because the legal requirements for proving defamation are tougher for public figures than for everyday people.
Lower courts had said the producer wasn’t a public figure. Over a dozen media outlets and organizations got involved in the case to argue that those earlier rulings could end up helping famous people squash free speech and reporting on sexual abuse allegations.
Earlier in the case, Kesha was ordered to pay Dr. Luke more than $373,000 in interest on royalties she paid him years late.

It had to be the Academy Awards that got burned in tonight’s SNL cold open, didn’t it? But did it have to be this gammy cold opening to the year’s Oscars having the slap, which was awesome, I mean bad, so bad?" said Heidi Gardner as "either Maria Menounos or Kit Hoover--they haven’t told me which yet" in the NBC late-night show’s first few minutes. "So, this year to make sure nothing crazy happens, the Academy hired a new head of security: a notoriously calm and sane person, Mike Tyson," she says as Kenan Thompson strolled on screen as the former heavyweight champion.
At that point, Saturday Night Live should have realized that it had a case of less is more. But the show wanted more, so I should warn you: the following things will set me off," Thompson’s Tyson told Gardner’s Access Hollywood host and her Mario Lopez sidekick (played by Marcello Hernandez). "Clapping, statues of gold people, and shows that last more than three hours, and also hearing the phrase ‘the magic of movies,’ " the fictional Tyson went on to say, with references to Oscar host Jimmy Kimmel being equipped with a "flamethrower" as a new security measure.
“Seriously, how great is this?” exclaimed cast member Chloe Fineman as Jamie Lee Curtis next up in the longer-than-usual skit. Were the fictional version of the "Everywhere, All at Once star and Best Supporting Actress nominee entirely rhetorical? Maddeningly, an on-screen sidebar mid-cold open of Draft Kings taking bets on “George Santos pretending to be Tom Cruise,” “Chris Rock” showing up, and the billion-to-one of “Harvey Weinstein Introduces Kanye West” teased how good this Oscar-centric skit could have been.
Even the great Bowen Yang showing up the truth-challenged freshman congressman claiming to be the Top Gun: Maverick star "Thomas Q. Cruise" was not the redeemer it needed to be. "Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to be everyone everywhere all at once," was an understatement into Sunday’s Oscars, plus further fallout from Dominion Voting System’s defamation suit against Fox News and the self-cannibalism that the race for the GOP 2024 presidential nomination is already gearing up to be, the topical SNL had no shortage of satire at its disposal for this week. A new document and deposition dump in the Dominion vs. FNC legal war the past few days could have easily and shamelessly provided Saturday Night Live with another cold open mocking Fox News, as it did the week before.
But after the slap heard around the world when Will Smith took a whack live onstage at Rock for mocking his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, this week’s cold open had to be a hot take on the 95th Academy Awards, and the banality of pre-ceremony red carpet shows pummeled later in the cold open with comparisons between the 95th Academy Awards and "how racist and sexist your Grampa was at 95," we should have seen where this was going from the start--and it wasn’t good.
"I guess everyone in Hollywood has diabetes," Gardner quipped right at the start of the cold open with a lame swipe at Tinsley Town’s new weight-shedding love affair with the drug Ozempic. "We are so excited to have been standing outside the Dolby Theatre for almost 153 hours," added Hernandez’s Lopez. "But it’s all worth asking Angela Bassett if she really did the thing.
With Wednesday star Jenna Ortega as host and The 1975 as musical guest, tonight’s 15th episode of the 48th season finds SNL in the final stretch for this year. In what could be EP Lorne Michaels’ last stint at the helm, the NBC late-nighter is also facing a very unfunny labor disruption as the show’s post-production editors could strike on April 1. As the rest of Hollywood gears up for the WGA sitting down with the studios on March 20 for likely contentious negotiations on a new three-year contract, the Editors Guild has another virtual chat set with NBCUniversal reps on March 13 for the 95th Academy Awards, starting at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) on Sunday on ABC with Jimmy Kimmel back as the host for a third time. And they have basically promised there will be no fisticuffs this year, at least not literally.

I find Depp's relationship with Manson very telling, tbh. I know Depp has done work in music before (as a guitarist, I think?), but arguably, his main claim to fame and the majority of his work and income comes from film. He is first and foremost, a movie star, and Manson is hardly a mainstream musician, he's a heavy metal singer.
Depp's relationship with Manson therefore then comes out of mutual interests, and not a business relationship, or proximity from working together — they're not coworkers who met on set, for example. There are no circumstances forcing Depp to be friends with Manson or to spend time with him. They are close friends and have been for 20 years, to the point of Depp making Manson his daughter's godfather.
The things Depp and Manson do have in common, of course, are practically a smoking gun. They do cocaine together, they are both known misogynists who use derogatory language towards women and usually violent, sexual terminology (jokes about rape, murdering a woman, burning her body, etc). Both have dated women several decades younger, if not with actual minors. Both have a history of substance abuse that has led to violence. Both are sueing their victims for defamation.
And of course, the accusations against Manson are numerous and span years. He was accused of sexual misconduct by his own security as far back as 2001, for rubbing his crotch against the man's head. There is no way someone who is a closed friend to Manson does not know the type of behaviour and abuse rhetoric he engages in. His biography reads like a confession; he describes violent fantasies of murder and rape, and stalking his ex-girlfriend, who he considered seriously killing according to his own words. His biography, for the record, was written in 1999. Depp knows who this man is, his fans need to stop pretending like he isn't hanging around a known abuser and rapist, and defending him too.

MICHAEL JACKSON & ADRIAN GRANT
“IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT I SAY OR DO, THE MEDIA WILL ALWAYS WRITE WHAT THEY WANT, ABOUT ME.”— Michael Jackson, June 2002.
“This was Michael Jackson’s reply to me, when I asked him about how he was perceived in the press, and why he didn’t just come out and tell them who the real Michael Jackson is, away from the spotlight. The media would be a subject that we discussed a number of times over the years, from his appearance at the Brit Awards, in 1996, to how he felt there should be a burning of all newspapers which had persecuted him. To quote the lyrics from his song, 'Tabloid Junkie', "Just because you read, it in a magazine, Or see it on the TV screen, Don’t make it factual"…
Michael Jackson is, currently, being publicly executed over accusations levelled against him by Wade Robson and James Safechuck who he considered to be close friends. Despite the fact that the stories told, by these two men, have repeatedly changed and are often contradictory, the media have chosen to treat their claims as fact, even though there is no actual evidence, at all, to back up their allegations. In addition to this, they were key witnesses for Michael’s defence in 2005, when he was completely cleared in a court of law, where both men stated they had never been abused by the star. Furthermore,” Michael was secretly investigated by the FBI for a period of over 10 years and the publicly available report states that they found no evidence of any wrong doing on Michael’s part.
When Michael died on 25th June 2009, I thought he would finally rest in peace, with his musical legacy left for us all to enjoy and his work as a philanthropist there to admire, still having a positive influence around the world. In the lead up to the broadcast of the documentary, Leaving Neverland, more and more celebrity influencers have come out and labelled Michael Jackson a pedophile, with some media organisations denouncing his music or existence altogether. None moreso than Oprah Winfrey. This public lynching is really shameful because, of course, Michael cannot defend himself against these accusations being made against him and, because defamation laws do not protect the dead, anyone can say anything they wish about him safe in the knowledge that they can’t be sued.
Let me be clear, I strongly believe that anyone alleging abuse of any kind should have their voice heard. But, in a court of law, their testimonies would be heard and cross-examined and evidence would be scrutinised in order to ensure a fair verdict is reached. In this instance, the failure to present any exculpatory evidence or interview anyone who could challenge the accusers’ versions of events makes the ‘documentary’ a totally one-sided X-rated horror movie, cleverly edited with the sole intention of hanging Michael Jackson in the court of public opinion. I have been advised by some not to get involved with this debate. To say nothing and let it pass. But I cannot do that. It would be as morally wrong for me to remain silent, as it is for the media to convict Michael without a fair trial or evidence.
I want to say this about the man I knew for 21 years, travelled the world with and spent numerous occasions at Neverland, hotels and in the recording studio with. Michael Jackson was the most kind and loving person I have ever met. Sadly, sometimes it is those who give the most that are taken advantage of the most. Michael was a unique and beautiful soul who had a child’s heart and, yes, he did some-“times act like a big kid - full of laughter, joy and playfulness. Not bad qualities to have!
In March 1990, I became the first person to have an article published about life at Michael’s home, Neverland Valley Ranch. I’ve told the story many times, but I’ll retell a small part here to give you an insight into who he really was. I was lucky enough to be invited to Record One Studios, where Michael was recording his album, 'Dangerous'. I was there to present him with an award from the readers of ‘Off The Wall’, a fan magazine which I published. Michael marvelled at the award, a 6 foot x 3 foot oil painting depicting his 21-year career, at the time. I then interviewed Michael for the magazine and took some pictures, before being treated to an exclusive preview of a new song, 'Man In Black' (which never actually made the final album). Towards the end of the day, Michael surprised me by asking me if I would like to visit his ranch for lunch at the weekend. I literally fell off my seat and accepted the invitation with glee.
Saturday came and as I was driven through the striking Neverland gates, I remember being amazed at the beautiful lush 3,000 acre valley. Upon signing in, we walked towards the main house and in the distance I could see two chimpanzees rolling around on the grass, giraffes, llamas, the funfair and a lake full of flamingos as classical music echoed out from speakers in the flowerbeds. I commented to the security guard who was accompanying me that this wasn’t reality, but he replied “well it’s reality for Michael Jackson. This is what he wakes up to every morning.” And that was true. Michael had lived a life that, since the age of 10, when he had his first number one with The Jackson Five, he was able to have almost anything that he wanted. Fortunately, Michael chose to channel most of his desires towards something positive and after getting to know Michael I saw how much he really did care for children – often opening the Neverland gates to the underprivileged or disabled. I feel this (his charitable work), along with four decades of great music is his greatest legacy.
I saw many more examples of Michael’s humanitarian efforts over the years. During a trip to Budapest in August 1994, Michael, along with Lisa-Marie Presley (and, incidentally, James Safechuck), visited a number of hospitals, handing out toys to the sick children. I was fortunate to be the only ‘media person’ allowed to accompany them into the hospitals and I was happy to help distribute the gifts to the children. However, the press were skeptical and suggested the trip (part of Michael’s ‘Heal The World’ campaign), was nothing more than a publicity stunt. What they didn’t see was the moving moment when Michael brought a smile to the face of a very poorly young girl who had lain motionless and silent for weeks. Her mother, at her side in constant vigil, broke down in tears as her daughter reached out and touched Michael’s hand. Moments like that mattered to Michael. He had a real caring affinity for children and I believe he related to them more than he did to adults. Whether that was because he didn’t have a childhood or the fact they didn’t judge or want from him, I don’t know but it was clear that the connection was genuine. I visited Neverland many more times over the years. Sometimes Michael would be present, and sometimes I was there to accompany fans who had won competitions via my magazine, but each trip was memorable and I was always made to feel welcome being invited to enjoy the amenities be that playing in the arcade, the rides in the funfair or watching movies in the theatre. I remember once seeing a group of kids playing basketball and amongst them was one very famous face: Macaulay Culkin. I walked over and said ‘Hi’, and he politely said ‘Hi’ back before continuing to shoot hoops. I can categorically state that not once in all my visits to Neverland and all my dealings with Michael did I ever see anything inappropriate taking place or feel there was something untoward in Michael’s behaviour with any of the children that he interacted with.
Having spent time with Michael alone many times, I too could make up spurious allegations against him. Thankfully I have integrity, honor and would never sell my soul to the devil by falsely accusing another of such a heinous crime for my own financial gain. More importantly, as Michael’s mother, Katherine, once told me “there is nothing bad to say because Michael is all good”.
However, there are people that I know and have worked with who, since Michael passed, have fabricated stories about him to benefit either their careers or bank balance. I find it disgusting that these people can lie so convincingly, without a moment’s pause, guilt or recollection of the actual truth. These people seemingly live in a parallel universe where they have convinced themselves what they say is true, and do not care about the damaging consequences their actions may have on others. No need for those who listen or print their stories to check facts; the liar’s version of events is taken as gospel and is digitised around the world in a second where headlines, clicks and instant gratification is all that counts.
I actually sat down last year with Channel 4 (I was unaware that at the time they were producing Leaving Neverland with HBO), and pitched my own documentary to them, about 'Thriller Live' and my time with Michael. The commissioners, however, were not interested in anything that would provide a glowing review of Michael’s artistry or good nature. They wanted to know what "juice" I had, gossip that people hadn’t heard before. A lot of what is broadcast comes down to ratings and what will draw in the biggest audience. Bad news is what seems to sell most.
Many people ask why Michael settled out of court when child abuse allegations first broke in 1993. At the time, Michael was subject to a criminal investigation but the Chandlers also filed a civil lawsuit against him, demanding financial compensation. Advised by his lawyer at the time, Johnnie Cochran, Michael made the out of court settlement to end the civil case first, and put a stop to all the scandal and misleading headlines, leaving him free to resume his career and tour that he was on at the time. The Chandlers walked away with $17 million between them (1 million for each parent and 15 millions to the child) and never pressed for the criminal trial to go ahead, although prosecutor, Tom Sneddon later tried to, but failed due to a lack of evidence. Michael’s friendship with Jordy Chandler had made him an easy target, and unfortunately the ’93 case set a precedent, making the next opportunist that would come along sound even more plausible and so it goes on.
Some people will sadly believe that Michael Jackson was a paedophile based on nothing but rumours and without any understanding of the true facts of the allegations made against him. Some call him ‘wacko’ or a freak because he didn’t live a normal everyday lifestyle. Some will be undecided. At the end of the day, it comes down to Michael’s word against those of the accusers - many of whom have either been found to be liars, fraudsters or have told completely opposite stories under oath. Anything outside of that is just opinion, and mine is that Michael Jackson is totally innocent of all and any abuse allegations made against him. Yes, he was eccentric, and sometimes naive – but these are not crimes. I think he saw himself as a protector of children. He almost was Peter Pan playing at Neverland with the Lost Boys (and girls) - someone that many would find hard to comprehend and believe in. But I was fortunate enough to experience his world of kindness, goodwill and pure imagination for 21-years, and it has inspired me to dream bigger, help others and be the best I can be.
As well as having one of the greatest catalogues in musical history, Michael Jackson left behind three children of his own that he loved and raised. I can’t begin to imagine how traumatic this is for them, but there has to be more thought and responsibility in the way that this is being handled. I am speaking up not only because Michael was a friend, or my work, but because I believe in fairness and we can’t let the media be: judge, jury and executor. As Malcom X once said; “the media is the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses.” So I say to convict Michael Jackson without actual fact and evidence is to give up on innocence itself. “

Just a reminder that Johnny Depp and Rihanna are survivors of domestic violence.
And yet there’s more criticism for Johnny Depp because he’s a MALE survivor of domestic violence.
msm I know that you hate domestic violence victims when they are men, I know that you do
Rihanna Criticized For Including Johnny Depp in ‘Savage x Fenty’ Fashion Show
Source: Savage X Fenty / Savage x Fenty
Controversial actor Johnny Depp is slated to appear in the upcoming Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 4, creating controversy for the brand’s founder—Rihanna.
According to Variety, Depp will have a featured “star” moment and will be the first male celebrity to have such a high-level cameo in the show.
Depp’s appearance comes after the highly-publicized trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp sued Heard for defamation after she penned an opinion piece for the Washington Post in 2018 where she alluded that she was a victim of domestic violence at Depp’s hands.
The sensational trial ended on June 1 when a seven-person jury found that Heard defamed Depp. He won all three claims and was awarded more than $10 million dollars in damages. Heard won a countersuit against Depp and was awarded a $2 million judgment—which, according to People, the Pirates of the Caribbean star is appealing.
The Savage X Fenty show is another in a line of public appearances as Depp tries to redeem his public appearance after the verdict. In August, he appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards as a Moon Person and has also joined friend Jeff Beck for several live concert appearances. He will soon direct a biographical drama about Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, produced by Al Pacino and Barry Navidi. Depp will also star as King Louis XV in French filmmaker Maïwenn’s upcoming film Jeanne du Barry, a historical romance drama about a royal’s concubine.
Despite his efforts to redeem himself, Johnny Depp still invites controversy to the Savage x Fenty show which will also feature appearances by Rihanna—as well as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever actor Winston Duke, Abbott ElementaryEmmy winner Sheryl Lee Ralph, Marvel’s Shang-Chi star Simu Liu, Empire star Taraji P. Henson, Irina Shayk, Marsai Martin and performances by Burna Boy and Anitta.
Writer and activist Drew Dixon tweeted, “Johnny Depp has been embraced as a hero by unhinged right-wing misogynist extremists, and now he’s been invited to appear in the @SavageXFenty show. Never expected such a powerful woman to succumb to the #MeToo  backlash. Really disappointing @rihanna”
Another post went viral criticizing the “Lift Me Up” singer for helping Depp rehab his image.
The posts are not all critical. Depp has had supporters since the trial—in fact, one commenter tried to explain his appearance in the show saying, “Just a reminder that Johnny Depp and Rihanna are survivors of domestic violence.”
Savage X Fenty Vol. 4 will be released on Prime Video on Nov. 9.

Puerto Rican migration to Hawaii began when Puerto Rico's sugar industry was devastated by two hurricanes in 1899. The devastation caused a worldwide shortage in sugar and a huge demand for the product from Hawaii. Consequently, Hawaiian sugarcane plantation owners began to recruit the jobless, but experienced, laborers in Puerto Rico.
In the 19th century, Puerto Rico depended mainly on its agricultural economy. The island together with Cuba was the Spanish Crown's leading exporter of sugar, coffee, tobacco and cotton. When the island was ceded to the United States after the Spanish–American War, as stipulated by the agreements of the Treaty of Paris of 1898, most of its industries were taken over by American industrialists. Cheap labor was provided by Puerto Ricans who depended on the nation's agriculture as their only source of income.[1]
On August 8, 1899, Hurricane San Ciriaco, with winds of over 100 miles per hour, struck Puerto Rico and, on August 22, another hurricane followed. The floods, caused by 28 days of continuous rain, damaged the agricultural industry and left 3,400 dead and thousands of people without shelter, food or work.[2] As a result, there was a shortage of sugar from the caribbean in the world market and a huge demand for the product from Hawaii and other sugar producing countries. To meet the demand, plantation owners began a campaign to recruit the jobless laborers in Puerto Rico.[3] On November 22, 1900, the first group of Puerto Ricans consisting of 56 men, began their long journey to Maui, Hawaii. The trip was long and unpleasant. They first set sail from San Juan harbor to New Orleans, Louisiana. Once in New Orleans, they were boarded on a railroad train and sent to Port Los Angeles, California. From there they set sail aboard the Rio de Janeiro to Hawaii.[4] According to the "Los Angeles Times" dated December 26, 1901, the Puerto Ricans were mistreated and starved by the shippers and the railroad company. They arrived in Honolulu, on December 23, 1900, and were sent to work in one of the different plantations owned by the "Big Five" on Hawaii's four islands.[5] By October 17, 1901, 5,000 Puerto Rican men, women and children had made their new homes on the four islands. Records show that, in 1902, 34 plantations had 1,773 Puerto Ricans on their payrolls; 1,734 worked as field hands and another 39 were clerks or luna/overseers (foremen). The "Big Five" was the name given to a group of sugarcane corporations that wielded considerable political power in the Territory of Hawai‘i and leaned heavily towards the Hawai‘i Republican Party. The "Big Five" consisted of Castle & Cooke, Alexander & Baldwin, C. Brewer & Co., Amfac and Theo H. Davies & Co..
The owners of the "Big Five" were Euro-Americans who would indulge in discrimination and bigotry against ethnic groups who worked the plantations. They had an association called the "Hawaiian Sugar Planters Association" (HSPA) whose power could be considered as equivalent to an oligarchy. The Attorney General of Hawai‘i, referring to the Big Five, said in 1903, "There is a government in this Territory which is centralized to an extent unknown in the United States, and probably almost as centralized as it was in France under Louis XIV."[6] Wages and living accommodations depended upon their job and race. Europeans were paid more and received better quarters. Most of the workers moved from plantation to plantation to work because they did not like the work they did and because of the racial discrimination.[7] According to the State of Hawaii Data Book 1982, by the year 1910, there were 4,890 Puerto Ricans living in Hawaii.[8] Puerto Rico and Hawaii were unincorporated and incorporated territories of the United States respectively; however, the passage of the Jones–Shafroth Act of 1917, the same year that the United States entered World War I, gave American citizenship, with limitations, to the Puerto Rican resident in Puerto Rico and excluded those who resided in Hawaii. Yet, the "non-citizen" Puerto Ricans were assigned draft numbers and were expected to serve in the military.[9]
The Plantation owners, like those that comprised the "Big Five", found territorial status convenient, enabling them to continue importing cheap foreign labor; such immigration was prohibited in various other states of the Union.[10] In 1917, Puerto Ricans in the island, believing that they were entitled to the same rights that every other U.S. citizens had, tried to sign up to vote in a local Hawaiian election and were denied their rights by the county clerk who claimed that early immigrants to Hawaii were not covered by the Jones Act.[9]
Manuel Olivieri Sanchez, a court interpreter at the time, became enraged in what he viewed as a violation of the civil rights of his fellow countrymen. He encouraged his fellow Puerto Ricans to protest by telling them that "If you are not allowed to vote, don't answer the draft call".[9] Olivieri Sanchez led a legal battle for the recognition of the Hawaiian Puerto Ricans as citizens of the United States. In the first legal battle the lower court ruled in favor of the county clerk, however Olivieri Sanchez did not give up the fight and took the case before the Territorial Supreme Court, which reversed the decision of the lower court, granting the Puerto Ricans of Hawaii their United States citizenship.[11] Olivieri Sanchez' victory was not welcomed by members of HSPA, who depended on the cheap labor non-citizens provided. In 1930, HSPA began to circulate false rumors, they made it be known that they (HSPA) were planning to recruit laborers in Puerto Rico, while at the same time they had the "Honolulu Star Bullentin" and some local newspapers they controlled run anti-Puerto Rican stories, that—for example—claimed Puerto Ricans were "unhealthy hookwormers who had bought disease to Hawaii".[9]
In December 1931, Olivieri Sanchez wrote a letter to the editor of the Hawaiian Advertiser where he stated that he saw all of the rhetoric as a tactic by HSPA to push all the different ethnic groups in the local labor force back to work on the plantations. He was right, the HSPA wanted to persuade the United States Congress to exempt the territory from a law, which in 1924 was requested by California to prevent the migration of Filipinos and Japanese nationals to the U.S. (National Origins Quota Action (Immigration Act) and Johnson Immigration Act of 1924).[12] HSPA's secretary treasurer claimed that the association was unwilling to import Puerto Ricans to Hawaii. His defamation of Puerto Ricans condemned not only the Puerto Ricans of Hawaii, but also those on the island of Puerto Rico. Despite the efforts of Olivieri Sanchez, HSPA had their way and Hawaii was exempted from the stern anti-immigration laws of the time.[9]
The power of the plantation owners was finally broken by the activist descendants of the original immigrant laborers. Because it was recognized that they were born in an incorporated United States territory and that they were legal American citizens with full local voting rights and therefore were entitled to actively campaign for statehood recognition of the Hawaiian Islands.[13]
Currently, there are over 30,000 Puerto Ricans or Hawaiian-Puerto Ricans living in Hawaii. Puerto Rican culture and traditions are very strong there. One of the traditions that is still practiced is the "compadrazgo". When a person baptizes somebody's child, he or she becomes the "padrino" (godfather) of the child and the "compadre" or "comadre" of the child's parents. There is a relationship of respect, mutual affection and obligation between the child, parents and compadres. The children ask for a blessing "La Bendición" and the padrinos respond with a "Dios te bendiga" (God bless you).[4] During the late 20th century, the "coquí", a thumbnail-sized tree frog endemic to Puerto Rico, became established in Hawaii, most likely as stowaways in shippings of potted plants. Its loud mating call, "music to the ears" of Puerto Ricans on their native highland, is considered an annoyance in Hawaii where this invasive species reaches much higher population densities. Unsuccessful efforts were made to exterminate the infestation.[17][18]

Rainsford -- Shia went out of his way to charm Margaret as soon as they met and he wooed her with compliments and gifts and flowers and texts and spur-of-the-moment dates where he’d just show up at her house but her friends are concerned because Twigs’ lawsuit against Shia alleges multiple incidents of abuse including choking her in her sleep and knowingly giving her a sexually transmitted disease -- Shia said many of those allegations are not true and he is in a 12-step program and therapy for PTSD and alcoholism
