That one episode of TMA
Leanne: Yeah, my boyfriend Josh didn't like the calliope organ and we broke up and stuff, etc.
Nikola: Hey, do you want me to kill that guy for you? Because it sounds like he sucks and I will totally kill that guy for you

Okay there's a post going around right now that says 'if you're disappointed with mainstream fiction right now, can I suggest fiction podcasts'?
And for the record, I AGREE with that post. There are damn good amazing fiction podcasts out there and it remains wild how few peoples know of the medium's existence.
The reason this is a separate post is because I don't to derail the original... but rather that I think we can take that FURTHER.
Disappointed in mainstream media?
Go indie.
Seriously. Mainstream media has big budgets and therefore equally high-quality production value. Those can absolutely be fun. But big budgets also means they want to maximize the audience. By making something broadly-appealing to everyone, you kind of inherently make a piece of art less super appealing to specific niches.
So you want to find some fiction that DOES appeal to your niche? Go indie.
Indie video games. Indie webcomics. Indie music. Indie books.
Time and time again, across sub-cultures, I see people saying 'If you want to find excellent [X medium] you need to check out the indie scene' and that's cuz it's TRUE.
Listen. I know it's harder to find the good stuff; independent projects inherently have less of marketing budget. BUT. No matter your mediums and genres of choice, I promise their are YouTubers and podcasters and bloggers discussing things and giving recs and you're going to find you love SO much. Take the plunge. Give some indie art a try.

I think the most underrated motif in Malevolent is the music motif brought up by the butcher. This idea that every person has their own symphony or music in them.
Because he’s right when he asked Arthur if he here’s it too. Because Arthur does. Faroe’s song is obviously his music. He is constantly thinking of in to the point that it’s ingrained in his muscle memory to moment he’s at a piano.
But so many characters also have that same motif. Kellin has his. Same with The King in Yellow/Kayne depending on how you analyze the song on the radio. I know Kellin’s overlaps since it’s the same song. Either way, it signifies that unease, as though someone or something is watching. And knows.
I don’t pay too much attention to the background music in the show but I honestly should. See how many characters had different themes.
