This time, it was performed at the Esplanade theatre, with there being a costume showcase and a replica of the Barricades in the waiting area.

I've linked an article that sums this whole thing up really nicely in a bow, but if you want to stay on Tumblr, I'll put some points here:

During Beggars at the Feast, M. Thénardier calls one of the guest queer, then kisses him (short peck on the lips)

The kiss was included from the beginning of the production's run but shortly removed, due to complaints from some members of the audience

The show began on May 31, and the kiss was no longer included by June 3.

The concerns from the MDA (Media Development Authority) was that it would lose the "General Rating" if they included the scene; when they gave in the script to the MDA for approval, they did not disclose a same-sex kiss would be present; it wasn't in the original production.

But! This is my favourite part:

「Facebook user Gwyneth Teo urged the people who complained about the kissing scene to focus on the musical's other themes:

…for the complainants to zoom in on this kiss, which was a truly minor illustrative point inconsequential to the broader themes of the play, is really missing the forest for the trees. They could stand to learn a lesson or two about forgiveness from the play they had just watched.

Playwright Alfian Sa'at, meanwhile, said he is saddened by the MDA's decision:

You might think that canceling the kiss represents some kind of victory over LGBT’s and liberals, but honestly, it is nothing more than a triumph of ignorance and hysteria over common sense and sober reflection.」
