cool air twisted around the tall trees surrounding the bleak, gray building in front of jennie. if someone told her that the flashes from the cameras played a part in feeling like everything around her was twisting as well, she wouldn’t doubt it. the red eye flights to make all of their comeback stages that had been so unfortunately scattered amongst their tour dates weren’t exactly kind to her. a gentle touch to the small of her back was the only thing that commanded her attention more than the constant clicking and snapping coming from the media pit directly in front of her. turning quickly, she was faced with a soft smile coming from a taller, blonder woman.

“you okay?” rosé chirped, placing jennie’s left hand into one of her own. they locked eyes, and the trembling in the other girl’s fingers was an answer enough to rosé. jennie leaned into the gentle touch and rested her head on rosé’s shoulder. she could hear the clicks of the cameras increase. her eyes smiled as she giggled to herself, ‘the blinks will love it’, she thought.

these moments were the ones she held onto when things got hard. on the outside, things were perfect; worldwide it girl, chanel’s princess, goddess of the online world - what more could she ask for? she couldn’t lie, the attention felt amazing. for a while, of course. after “the idol” debuted, it felt like the slut-shaming hate train had returned in full force. god forbid a girl wants to expand her horizons.

she could remember the comments after the first two episodes premiered at sundance like it was yesterday. it was baffling how cruel people could be when their words were coming through a screen - whore, slut, and bitch had become the common tongue once again. the late night talks with lisa became more frequent, the two of them joking to help jennie cope. she found herself thinking, ‘they could at least be more creative.’ the ‘lazy jennie’ jokes were completely overdone - questioning the validity of her health issues was one of her anti’s most favorite activities.

her manager’s voice broke her train of thought as she beckoned her into the SBS building. turning her back, she heard the clicking come to a roar once again.

after exchanging her usual pleasantries with the music show staff, jennie made her way towards their dressing room. a familiar sight that meant at least an hour of peace and quiet while her makeup artist and hairdresser created the cool girl persona the public had grown to know her by oh so well. she could feel her shoulders drop back down and her headache start to clear at the thought of it. rushing to put her bag down, she grabbed her purse and phone and made her way to the restroom a couple paces down the hall.

her boots clinked sharply against the linoleum tile as she stationed herself in front of the mirror. sitting her things down, she turned the cold water on full blast. gathering the liquid into her hands, she splashed it across her cheeks and forehead; finally - relief. she sighed, her eyes resting shut. she almost felt a smile reach her face until the sound of a door opening shattered her bubble of tranquility. she jumped up slightly, an anxious habit. she felt some of her worry ease when a soft voice breached the silence,

“i’m so sorry, i didn’t know anyone else was in here,” the stranger across from her grinned softly, her eyes apologetic.

“it’s alright, i mean, i don’t own the bathroom.” jennie mused, a flush lighting up her face.

the two women shared a laugh that fell into only a somewhat awkward silence. jennie watched shyly through the mirror as the other woman leaned over the marble to wash her hands. her eyes darted away as soon as the other women straightened up to walk towards the hand dryer. she left jennie with a small wave as she exited the bathroom. jennie felt her breath force its way out of her mouth. ‘what about that interaction was so nerve racking?’ her thoughts were racing, her heart was pounding. she quickly wrapped up what was supposed to be a moment for relaxation and timidly walked back to the dressing room.

something about her demeanor immediately peaked the interest of jisoo. “jennie-ah, what’s on your mind?”

“nothing much, just a little jet lagged.” she knew she wasn’t the best liar, but how could she explain how she was feeling when she wasn’t even sure herself.

she could tell jisoo knew it was a lie. however, she knew that when jennie felt ready, she would come to her to talk. sending a sympathetic smile jennie’s way, jisoo set her attention back to her phone.

jennie finally sat down and let her team get to work. usually this silence was comforting, a moment for her brain to rest. today, however, her thoughts wouldn’t stop racing about the woman she’d only seen so briefly. she could even recall the scent of musky bergamot in the air from her perfume as she walked past. the way her skin reflected when the fluorescent lights connected to her. was she a staff member? had they just not met before? surely she would remember.

jennie had a penchant for getting to know the beautiful women she crossed paths with. this time was different, though. the meetings usually occurred somewhere dark, loud, sweaty or sleazy. she’d find two hands wrapping around her waist, feel warm breath touch the back of her neck, enticing her to a bathroom just off the dance floor. she couldn’t lie, there were times she would indulge. it’s hard to resist letting yourself enjoy something so tempting, so fully. all those girls felt the same, though. it was meaningless, fleeting and done for the cause of chasing a high she couldn’t reach. never once had she felt nervous.

had she just been taken off guard in a private moment? or was this something more? she didn’t give herself a chance to ponder on something as trivial as actually wanting to engage further with someone. emotions weren’t practical with a life like hers. she pushed the heart flutter aside and shut her eyes tight. she was on stage in less than a hour, she had a job to do.

as her hairstylist curled the last strand of hair, she smelled the familiar scent of berry hair spray - her quiet time has concluded, it’s time to get back to work.

she followed closely behind her three band-sisters and worked her way onto her place onstage. sauntering, her eyes low in a seductive gaze. this was where she was born to be, nothing could take her out of her zone now.

the show returned from commercial and the spotlights went up on the MC’s once again. she smiled, knowing the familiar sound of, “welcome, blackpink!” was about to ring in her ears once again. what she didn’t expect was the words coming from a honeyed voice she had heard not so far in the past. her heart dropped in her stomach.

“hello, it’s y/n l/n bringing you back to SBS Inkigayo; please welcome, blackpink!”

the crowd roared at the sight of the princess of korea’s acting scene and jennie realized why the stranger from the bathroom was so captivating.

the pink venom intro began to seep from the speakers, and jennie felt her heart drop into her stomach.

like she thought before, feelings don’t work in a job like hers.

Gortash watched from his window as Bhaal's rumored son continued to serenade the crowd, staring directly at him. Filled with a little disbelief that his plan had worked.

There were many who talked in hushed tones about the current ruler of Bhaal's cult. A menacing white dragon. Humorlessly stalking around the streets in dark robes. There wasn't much deviation in their descriptions of him. He sent his spies out for anything he could grasp onto. A lead of some sort.

It had been a hot afternoon the day one of his spies slipped him a discreet note. It had a name on it. An idol merchant that set up shop near Candulhallow's Tombstones. He changed out of his oil stained clothes. Donning the robes he designed himself. Patterns subtly denoting symbols of Bane. To the untrained eye it was simply a beautifully ornate piece of clothing. But it was a signal to those who worked with him in the shadows.

When he arrived at the idol merchant he noticed the man had two idols of interest. One matching the dragon he recognized through his men's descriptions. But the other looked like no one in the pantheon he recognized. He picked it up scanning the features of what appeared to be a handsome half-elf. When he asked the merchant what god it was the man looked around nervously.

"A young woman came lookin’ at my stock. She was displeased by my Bhaal statues and claimed to have some authority on the matter. Sayin’ the dragon was all wrong." He watched as Gortash examined the bronzed features. Rubies set in the eye sockets.

"I never imagined Bhaal to care much about looking good while he ordered his cultists to stick a dagger through someone's heart." He mused.

The man snickered. "It's not Bhaal. It's his son."

He watched the man carefully, taking his measure.

"His son you say?"

"Yeah, the lady told me that Bhaal's big strong leader is none other than his own son. Believe me when I say I was just as surprised as you are now when she described him. A dazzling lion sitting upon his father's throne. Crowned with long flamin' hair."

Gortash examined the idol a bit more closely. "There hasn't been talk of a Bhaalspawn rising up since the days of Sarovek."

Gortash wasn't even alive at that time. Roughly 120 years ago. Could Bhaal really have a new scion out to play?

"Thank you for the information. Did you happen to catch the name of the woman who gave you the information."

He shook his head.

"If you should happen to come through with more information I will have a heavy purse readied with your name on it." He paid the idol merchant for the graven image of Bhaal's son. "Oh, and do not impart this information on anyone else. This statue can be... a limited edition..." He handed the merchant a few more coins to ensure there was an understanding between them.

The merchant did indeed come through with more information. Visited again by an unidentifiable woman.

He motioned his chin at the grinning man depicted by the idol that now sat upon his shelf. It was a beautiful piece of craftsmanship but in truth it did not do him justice. He was a truly dazzling specimen of a man. The left side of his hair tucked behind an ear that indicated half-elven heritage.

A few weeks ago when he felt the knife pressed against his back he thought his life was forfeit. But he was exhilarated when he read the note that was slipped in his pocket.

Johim looked away as he finished his song. In no rush to move from his place. When he was finished he bowed before the crowd and walked to the cobbler's shop.

Gortash turned around. Waiting expectantly as the other man climbed the stairs to his small study. He entered, dropping the fiddle carelessly on the ground. Leisurely he ran his hand along Gortash's desk, walking until he was just inches from him. Gortash noted the hint of excitement in his lazily hooded expression.

He swallowed. The energy and power radiating off of Johim was incredible. Something he only felt when Bane showed up in his dreams. Promising him power beyond his wildest imagination. Instructing him to reach out to the temple in the first place.

Johim’s hand lifted to Gortash's chin, tilting his head up until he gazed into radiant amber eyes. He was a bit surprised that they were not red as the statue depicted.

"Don't you know it's dangerous to leave a lion hungry." His voice was rich like velvet. He spoke softly but he may as well be shouting for all the world to hear.

Gortash didn't move. Standing his ground so as to not be swept away by the hurricane. A small amount of relief settled in his stomach when Johim let go of his chin, the threat replaced by amusement. He watched carefully as the tall, lean muscled man sat in one of the chairs near a few shoes that he was working on for some rich patrons.

"Tell me, how does a cobbler come into such knowledge?" He picked up one of the shoes on the table. Examining the intricate swirls of purple.

Gortash sat in the chair next to Johim, plucking the shoe away from him and setting it down. "A cobbler that aspires to rise far above his station."

Johim leaned back, his arms crossed. Head tilted as he waited for Gortash to continue.

"You were born into power. Born with the divine blood of the gods. I was born into nothing. Lower than nothing." Bitterness twinged his voice.

"And yet, it seems you have risen to something."

"Yes. I took what life gave me and instead of waiting around for luck to strike I seized every small opportunity I could. Slowly collecting knowledge until I was able to climb higher upon the ladder of success."

"And you desire to climb higher I take it?"

Gortash's expression grew in intensity. Locking upon Johim's face. "Don't you?"

How many people fell victim to that carelessly casual expression. Drawn in by the salacious nature of his speech. Gortash watched carefully. Johim didn't give away much. But his expression shifted a bit. He had his full attention now.

"I am the ruler of Bhaal's temple. Born of his flesh and blood. What more could you offer me that I don't already have?"

"You may be born to a god, but you are not a god yourself." He got up to grab a bottle of wine and a couple of glasses. "If you were as content as you say you are you wouldn't have responded to my note." He poured out the liquid, extending one of the glasses to Johim. "If you truly had everything you desired you wouldn't be sitting here in my humble cobblers shop."

Johim took the wine and drank deeply.

"I have lived many lifetimes. When one lives many lifetimes, eventually one gets bored. Restless." Johim tapped his fingers on the desk. Something unreadable crossed his face.

Gortash took a deep breath, carefully weighing his words. "What if... we were our own masters. Gods of our own right."

He expected Johim to roll his eyes or scoff in disgust. But instead he watched as his mind worked through their conversation.

"What does a mortal human know of becoming a god?"

"You know as much as I do, that it's been accomplished before. Plenty of gods in our current pantheon started out as mere mortals. Your father included." He poured more wine into Johim's now empty cup. "And gods have been removed from that pantheon, usurped. Just as Mighty Karsus attempted when he momentarily replaced Mystril. Only I don't intend on being struck from the sky."

Johim smirked. "Neither did Karsus."

He watched as Johim got up and began to pace in his unhurried way, chuckling a bit to himself as he caught sight of the idol on Gortash's shelf. After a time of silence he looked back at Gortash. That bright wild smile returned to his face.

"I hope you have more than one bottle of wine. Because we have a lot to discuss tonight."

DCA Info Part 6: Idol Performances and Mechanics

Idol Performances

As mentioned before, Diamond Crown Academy is renowned for its idol performances that are viewed worldwide. On occasion, students go wild with their songs and performances.

It was initially prohibited to display this kind of energy during the school festival. That was the case until Headmistress Citrouille pulled a poll for the two magic schools and most of the votes said "Yes".

Fans now go wild and fanclubs get new members. The merch sales are off the roof and it's just a somehow chaotic outcome. But in a good way. Evonie being the rockstar fan she is, secretly performs rock concerts and uses a mask to hide her identity. Her fans dubbed this rockstar persona of her's "The Masked Maiden" (仮面の乙女). (Phoenix joked that this is similar to the double life of Hannah Montana).

Star Muse

Because the academy is known for the idol performances and competitions a ranking system keeps track of all the students and who is currently the Star Muse of the dorm and academy. In the dorm, the Star Muse has at least three seats, one of which is taken by the dorm leader as they are at the top of their game during performances. The two other seats will have students of that dorm compete so that they can move on to compete with other dorms' Star Muses. The most challenging round of idol competitions have all elected Star Muses to compete against each other to be crowned the top five, Stella Nova. The low ranking idol competitions are kept within the academy while the higher ranking competitions are performed on a venue outside the or a live show held at the academy where civilians can purchase tickets to attend the show.

Stella Nova

The five seats that are reserved for the winners of the top five idols. Stella Nova Muses are awarded a crown with a unique gem attached to it that has an ensemble that is of Premium Rank. The ensemble changes depending on the person who wears the crown, it also has it's own custom wings that are unique to the wearer.

The current top five who occupy the seats are:

Briar - Diamond Crown

Vidya - Topaz Crown

Evonie - Quartz Crown

Cerule - Ruby Crown

Ella - Sapphire Crown

If one of the Star Muse contestants were to beat one of the Stella Nova Muses, the latter muse must give her crown to the winner. The gemstone crowns are ranked by rarity, Diamond as the first seat, Topaz as the second seat, Quartz as the third seat, Ruby as the fourth seat and Sapphire as the fifth seat.

Performing in Groups & Idol Versus Matches

Idols usually face against each other on separate places except they sing the same song. Their score will depend on how many people cheer for them. There is always a camera around the stage, broadcasting their performance to an online audience. The idol with the most number of cheers are declared the winner and are rewarded a styling jewel or points in order to increase idol rank.

Idol Points - These are accumulated points after winning an idol match. As the idol goes up a rank, the more idol points they need to acquire in order to advance, which means participating in a lot of matches.

Cheer Points - These are points gained from audience who watch the performance live or online. The ones who attend the venue of the idol are the base points, the ones online vote for which one they liked better. DCA is able to keep track of the points each student has and has an application that students download on their phone to keep track of their scores.

In an idol group performance, the contestants will be ranked on teamwork, harmony and synchronization. This is much harder since casting illusion appeals takes more practice because it needs to be done by everyone in the team, they lose points if one member is either too early or too late in casting their illusion.

But there are group performances who are there for entertainment in order to build up their likeability to the public, same rule applies to the idols who perform solo.

Idol Groups

Students often form groups but this applies to entertainment performances, the public has a group they favor and will want to keep track off. The group name is registered by the staff by sending a form to fill out, writing down the group name, and who the members are.

The group style is unanimous and must not stray away from the motif of their group name. This is for stabilizing their name in the public and changing styles would create confusion and lessen likeability. Forming a group allows the students to introduce themselves to the public and gain likeability faster so if they were to perform solo or in another group, the fans who favor them will want to vote for them which can be an advantage to win the match.

The student can be a part of more than one group. It's a strategy to gain even more likeability among the public.

Bravery Crest (ブレイバーリクレスト) A trio with a cool princely motif, an aesthetic of empowerment and breaking from the norm.

Members: Allison, Evonie and Vidya.

Butterfly Moon (バタフライムーン) - A duo group who as an elegant vibe, they depict the aura of a woman who is always at the top and paves her own empire.

Members: Evonie (as The Masked Maiden) and Vidya.

Candy Shell (キャンディーシェル) - A duo group who has a rather bright and bubbly vibe to them, showing off the carefree and whimsical world under the sea.

Members: Allison and Cerule

Spring Drop (スプリングドロップ) - A trio who depicts the beauty of the forest with it's simple yet warm atmosphere.

Members: Elu, Perrine and Evonie.

Glass Moon (グラスムーン) - A duo that shows the beauty of maidens who hold a mysterious aura, tempting curiosity.

Members: Ella and Rozeline.

Platinum Queen (プラチナクイーン) - A quartet who have an elegant motif, to show the world the power of a queen.

Members: Vidya, Briar, Cerule and Jinlong.

Idol Mechanics

At the start of school, there are at least 4 months to prepare for the beginner debuts. This is only held in the school and is not broadcasted, this is to scope out the abilities of the freshmen as upcoming idols.

The freshmen are given enough time to choose their outfits from the starting brand and time to rehearse using already made songs.

Passing would allow them to be moved to a training class for idols and magic for their actual debut.

Those who fail are given a chance to try again in another 4 months or they can choose another role to help out in the idol performances through either writing songs, making outfits or even stage prep.

Students who pass the beginner debuts are given 4 months to train themselves for their proper debuts. They can go solo only if the teachers think their abilities are up for it, but mostly it is kept in groups of 3-5. This is broadcasted in a special venue where there are many cameras filming the students for the world to see.

The studies aren't too straining for the students to keep up with idol work as it all relates to magic training.

First years are limited to using the beginner brand until they reach second year. That is when they get to either pick from the available brands or establish a new brand.

In their second year, the students have the choice to form an idol group or go solo in the upcoming performances they will be chosen to perform at. The staff will inform the chosen students ahead of time of the venue, whether it be solo or a group.

The performances are spread throughout different kingdoms with approval from the authority managing the area the school wants to perform in.

This is to showcase the student's capability in magic so they may be scouted in the future, as well as promote their academy to increase favorability among the masses.

Forming Idol Groups

Idol groups can either have permanent members that last until graduation or have members that alternate in different idol groups.

What's special about the idol groups is that each idol's preferred brand would collaborate to make ensembles exclusive for that idol group.

But of course, the process of forming a group is tricky, because students aren't paired with the people they want.

You have to go through measuring your synchronization with others, this is done through a simple vocalization class where a large group of students who wish to form groups would harmonize in one room.

The students are given enchanted music sheets that measure their vocal compatibility. The names of the people in the room would also be on the music sheet and after the exercise, compatibility percentages would appear beside the names.

They would then group up with those whose compatibility percentages are closer to their own.

An Idol's Regalia

"Regalia" is what you refer to an idol's aura that appears if the idol has full concentration of magic as well as focus on rhythm.

This is a spell taught to the DCA students very early on and what they will train on mastering during their idol rehearsals. It was said to be used to cloak a certain area with illusions to avoid any enemies from trying to invade, or so they heard.

It can be difficult to pull off for first timers and even difficult to maintain throughout the performance. It can be stabilized with another idol's Regalia, hence why some would start off as groups.

Solo idols are considered veterans when it comes to summoning their Regalia. Most dorm leaders can do a solo performance, though there was no shame in a dorm leader wanting to perform in a group more often.

The Regalia appears like a large crown overhead the idol, below the crown is a "Curtain" that contains an illusion magic that changes the environment within its radius.

Above the crown is the idol's "Symbol", it can take the form of anything that represents the idol.

Think of it as parts of a Merry Go Round. The top part is the Crown, the middle where the rides are is the curtain where the illusion effects are and the bottom is the radius.

Each idol has a different Regalia which makes it a delight to the audience on what each one would look like everytime new students would perform.

Hybrid & Themed Regalia

A Regalia can merge with another idol's, creating a "Hybrid" of the crowns along with the symbols and curtains.

This is a bit tricky as the group needs to have the same endurance. If one of the idol gets too tired to keep up the Regalia then only that idol's Regalia would fade from the group while the others remain.

However, to create a Regalia that is completely different to their own is an incredibly difficult feat.

Only the highly skilled would be able to cast this.

An example would be a "Themed Regalia" that the group would have to imagine and synchronize in order to manifest it.

Trying to guess what your group mates are imagining is the hard part as well as the focus to keep the spell up during the performance.

Starting idol groups would only appear with their own Regalias and won't merge at first.

Then with a little more training they can merge the Regalia designs during a group performance. When the group is in perfect sync they can accomplish summoning a Themed Regalia.

The size of the Regalia can also depict the idol's current magical capabilities. The student can increase the radius with enough training and focus.

Small radius means you are a beginner, the bigger the radius is then it shows how far your capabilities are.

If a Regalia disappears somewhere along the song then it's a sign that the idol is nearing exhaustion of their magic and their body is subconsciously trying to prevent any more stress.

Warning: A student is NOT allowed to resummon their Regalia if it disappears, Regalia uses up magic and accumulates blot like any other magic.

NT GIGS CLAIM PROCESS

for this cycle, we’ll be implementing a different way of submitting gig claims as a way to help everyone see what can be claimed.

2. What does Ruby think of the industry?

As Sarina and as a kid she used to think that it was a magical place where all your dreams came true. A place where you went and everything has magical, where you earned a lot of money and were surrounded by love and compliments the whole time. You know, typical view you have as a kid.

Now she knows it is a place where you have to be cautious, watch your words and who you talk to, a place where you are forced to use a mask and tell naughty lies to survive, with time, she has learned that she really has to be careful if she doesn't want to get in trouble. She still loves being an idol, but doesn't ignore how rough being in the industry can be.

3. How does Ruby view Kana/MemCho?

Despite her relationship with Kana starting with the left foot, Ruby loves and respects very much Kana and Mem, they are her two favorite people in the world. She thinks that they are very talented, wonderful girls who deserve the world and will always be grateful to them for being part of B-Komachi with her.

She wants them to be happy, and would always be there for both of them. They are also the last two people she wants to get harmed by her revenge plans, so she tries to not get them involved at all.

4. Can Ruby act? Has she considered acting before?

Not professionally, but she has a lot of potential! In the plays made in school, she would always get the leading role and perform very well. With some practice and dedication, she would be a great actress, thou I don't think she would be in the level of Kana or Akane.

She has considered acting, but once she has stopped being an idol, due to her wanting to focus on her idol career. Thou she wouldn't say no if she was offered to play a minor role in some movie or series.

5. Whats a crossover verse you really enjoy with your muse, and what are some headcanons you have FOR said verse?

I love roleplaying with @slayingblades! Currently, the two threads we have with Mitsuri and Tanjiro are two of my favorites! We are roleplaying in an Academy verse so not too much about the universe of Kimetsu no Yaiba (demons, breathing stuff, etc), but I would very much love to one day rp Ruby in that universe!

Some headcanons I have for a verse where Ruby is a demon hunter would be:

★ Her father is a Lower Moon (he got transformed after Ai got pregnant) who sent a regular demon to kill her mother and the kids.

★ Ai died but Aqua and Ruby got saved by their babysitter, Miyako, who was secretly a demon hunter with the mission of keeping an eye on the Hoshino family.

★ Miyako took Aqua and Ruby under her wing, the twins decided to be demon hunters at a young age and she trained them.

★ Ruby's breathing would be sound breathing like Uzui's, due to her being related to music.

★ She still had a previous life as Sarina Tendouji where she was offered to become a demon to get healed (pretty much like Muzan), but she died before taking the opportunity. She got reincarnated due to a demon blood art but doesn't quite remember her past life, at least at the beginning.

★ Eventually, she discovers that her father was responsible for her mother and Doctor Gorou's dead (she regains her memories after finding the doctor's corpse), and decides she is going to hunt him and kill him.

Mama, how was your childhood?

This was to be expected- to be asked as a mother. Of course Ruby and Aqua would question and wonder about grandparents, about other family--Ai knew that, and yet..

It was like the memory flooded back, for a moment. Her, being as small as Ruby..

Her mother often starved her, often shaming her for the weight she had as a child, and calling her the reason on why her life went so south.. never really blaming her father for leaving a pregnant teenager on her own, but still...

What sort of mother would ever even starve her child in the first place? Ai remembered what she was like prior.. Bones, jutting from the idols body, Ai remembering the disgusting taste of moldy bread or-.. well.. any sort of garbage she could find away from her mothers prying eyes.

Even so, her mother was never really caught on the abuse. It was more or less the theft if anything.. How bitter, Ai felt at remembering that..

That being said, growing up in a home was much easier compared to the short time of growing up with her mother. Maybe that's why she strived to ensure Aqua and Ruby had it all- a future they wanted, a life they chose, dreams and ambitions, that was theirs.

Ai wanted them to be happy they were alive- and to know, she loved every second she could spend being their mother. A cycle, she wished to end.

So, she smiled, as she muses, telling Ruby this.

"Growing up in a home wasn't fun, honestly, Ruby.. but it led me to being you and Aqua's mother! And ya know what? That makes me the happiest in the world!"

...And that was the truth. All of the struggle and strife, and everything she did to claw her way to stardom, lead her to Aqua and Ruby. Ai's joy knew no bounds, when it came to seeing them grow and become their own people.
