okay so re: my decision to rework giselle and add her to this blog ( after writing her previously years ago ), some important notes about how i am deviating ( massively ) from canon:

• firstly, i am nixing most things about how her dynamic with jack is presented in canon. they are still probably romantically entangled, i'm sure he probably still pisses her off, but i do eventually want to revisit wedlocked and alter a lot of it to give giselle more agency and to make jack's behaviour less questionable, especially as the auction scene in the ride itself has changed since wedlocked was released so while i love that they filmed the short during the production of awe, it is no longer entangled with the lore of the potc ride as it once was • speaking of giving giselle more agency, at her default point in movie canon she is a tavern bawd, so she co-owns and runs a tavern, earns her own money and looks after other sex workers in her employ. • i am basing a lot of her backstory on sarah wilson, who was a 18th century historical figure who conned and impersonated her way around england through dressing up as fancy ladies and fleecing people for their coin before being transported to the american colonies as a penal servant. she also then went on to impersonate queen charlotte's sister while in virginia, she is a true Icon lmao. giselle doesn't quite go that far with her schemes, but she is a pathological liar, ambitious and her co-conspirator is @reddhaed • this also means that sera / redd is giselle's main romantic partner in any and all verses i make for her ( though they are polyamorous ). jack is not, he is if anything a side piece only lmao. • i've also taken a lot of inspo from the show harlots for this, which is why i've been rewatching and also possibly why i am not in a hurry to actually add any canon character as a muse. but maybe some day 👀👀

Giselle wanted nothing more than to complete this commission but there was this horrible art block in place on her. Everything that came out looked horrible and it was starting to frustrate her. She left her ipad and sketch book in her apartment and came to the restaurant that was on the first floor of her building. She sat at the bar because it made her feel less alone then if she was sitting at one of the tables by herself. Sure she could call someone but she was just so frustrated and annoyed she was sure that she would get snappy at them and didn't want to put them through that. She let out a big sigh and placed her forehead against the bar top.
