One thing which I really love about Catwoman is her independence, both from the Doylist and Watsonian perspective. From the Doylist perspective, her comics run has lasted over 300 issues. She's unique about superhero love interests in this - whom else can you name with a run this long? Not Lois, not Iris or Linda, definitely not Steve, and I'm going to guess that neither MJ, Black Cat, or Elektra either. I'm pretty sure that she even beats Batgirl, across runs for different characters with this mantle.

Don't get me wrong. I love BatCat. I want to see BatCat in more stories. But I don't want BatCat to be the end.

This is prompted by some of the reactions to the announcement of the run. I understand BatCat fans, but I also don't think that it would be sustainable to have a run, for Selina, that's about her relationship with Bruce.

Let her be independent, let her stories continue strong.

The wily cat was amused Ivy continued their pawsitively fun charade. There was something quite delictable having a little danger season their evening-- it would more than satisfy her thirst for a good ol' heist. The last one had been so fruitful there wasn't a necessity to embarass the elite again. Lulling them into a false sense of security was one of her favorite tactics.

Her eyes playfully looked away in a sophisticated thought, causing a slight wrinkle in her forehead before she smiled knowingly at her friend. "Well," she paused for empahsis before continuing as if the entire idea suddenly formed. (In truth, that couldn't be further from the truth.) "-- Alright. First round's on you, but--" her gaze went beyond Ivy to the bar, and a cheshire smile took over. "the way that meat in a suit keeps looking at us, we might get it for free." While they surely didn't need help with such things, it did add a more fun factor to see what they would come up with. "Might even want to subject himself to certain experiments, wouldn't you say?"

inviting selina over to have a sleep-over where she lived was actually a rather big thing for bunny mask. and this was because she knew her 'humble abode' usually tended to raise a few eyebrows, at the very least. bunny did go with what she knew when she chose a place to live in when she arrived in gotham. which, meant she lived in a literal cave. albeit one with a few furnishings and even a barn door to give her privacy from the rest of the outside world.

though upon shouting loud enough from the other room that she could come in upon her arrival, she seemed to be fine with the very unique aspect of it. and this meant that the excitement bunny mask also felt that was intermingled with the nervousness took over. for, she likely never would've been able to contemplate things like whether she should hold selina's hand when it appeared she had an opening during a movie. or also telling her just how beautiful she thought the other looked that day. but bunny mask's attraction soon reached a peak where it felt like she could no longer hold it back at all at one point, however.

and this was when they both agreed to try to go to sleep for the night, in her bed. so when they'd opted to face each other for a moment as they laid side-by-side... bunny mask admitted that she'd been wanting to touch selina all day. what happened next seemed to happen so quickly then when the other okay'd that, as bunny leaned forward to kiss her on the lips; them soon becoming more fervent while the spirit maneuvered herself on top of selina. ❝ i know you had already told me it was okay, but i would like to hear it from you once more. i am not going too fast right now — am i? ❞

bunny mask was about to unzip the other's trousers but stopped at the last second as she looked in selina's eyes, ❝ it is just that i love you, selina, and i do not want to make you feel pressured into doing anything you do not want to. ❞ a lopsided and slightly bashful sheepish spread across her lips then as she made eye contact with the other, ❝ my only regret is that i had not said that sooner, as if you are absolutely sure you would like to do this... then i want you to know that it would be special. ❞

but , with bruce , things are . . . different , in a pleasant sort of way. sure , he’s a billionaire ──── owner and ceo of WAYNE ENTERPRISES ; a man she believed to be no better than the rest of them ; a SPOILED BRAT with a different girl in his bed each night ──── but bruce the billionaire and bruce the man , she would learn , were two different people. the REAL bruce had been deeply disturbed by the murder of his parents , had lost the woman he’d loved , had lost his best - friend , had fought as the BATMAN to protect his city and the citizens within. the real bruce was plagued by loss and defeat , time and time again , and still , he chose to protect those who couldn’t protect themselves. he chose to play the role of the billionaire to keep his secret vigilantism from reaching the masses. to give the people of gotham something to believe in . . .

it takes A LOT for selina to trust someone , to let them tear down the walls she’s built that protect her , to fall in love ──── and here stands bruce , a man she could hardly stand not too long ago , accomplishing the impossible.
